Also the webcomic Aikida returned.

I'm pretty sure there was something else, but I can't remember... Maybe it was Diablo 3, but I'm not sure what I would have said about that.

Last update before the 8th Anniversary on Sunday. I had planned both a Pulse and a PeEVEed page, but you can guess what happened. I couldn't finish both in time.

Here's also some Double-AA-Panic!! gift art from DA that I didn't notice that people had given to Silverbolt. There's too many to list individually, I added about 13 items.

8th Anniversary Art

The site anniversary isn't until the 29th, but I thought I should make sure the annual checkerboard bikini picture was done in advance.

On the anniversary (the closest Thursday actually), I'll put up an old version of the site from fall 2000 for people to look at.

The anniversary picture is listed below at both the site and at DA, you can view it at either place.

Website Update

A new gallery is up. It's a semi-flat gallery that replaces the Plogger gallery.

There might be broken links, incorrect text, or items with the incorrect rating (PG, R, etc). If you notice anything let me know.

The setup isn't perfect (I'm not use if the link-checker can check the paginated pages), but at least it's simple, easy to edit, and almost unbreakable.

The gift art pages are listed alphabetically, so that several pictures by the same person are grouped together. They may need to be broken up in pages like the others galleries (instead of being on one page).

This gallery method uses javascript. I tried to find something similar in php, but couldn't find anything.

One of the larger problems is that you can't link to any page other than the newest one (as far as I know), and it breaks ALL of the links to artwork in the news archive.

No new content this week, but there should be a lot of new items in my section that haven't been here before (or haven't been up in years). Pulse and artwork I've given to others come to mind. Even my desktops and the Pulse contest suits are back.

The hard drive started getting worse, so I replaced the 80GB IBM HD with a new 100GB Maxtor HD.

I didn't lose any files, but everything had to be re-installed.

I think my hard drive is dying.

About a year ago I suspected the same thing after hearing strange noises, but it was a broken DVD drive.

I'll just randomly hear the hard drive spin up and spin down while using the computer, and when it spins down, the whole computer stops working. Sometimes it'll spin down and then not spin back up unless I reboot.

I have a secondary system volume on a second HD, but the first drive stopping seems to take that one down even if I'm booted into the second drive. It might be a master/slave thing or maybe virtual memory.

The drive doesn't seem to be losing data though (just becoming randomly inactive), so I should be able to easily backup everything.

It's the original HD for an almost six-year-old computer, so I'm not surprised I guess.

Valentine's Day Art

This was a picture meant for Valentine's Day.

I've been working on the new gallery. I have my section of gift art I've given to others and the gift art given to the site left to finish. I -think- all other areas are complete. It'll go up when it's done.

I have the 8th anniversary picture, the page for next week, a picture for a contest, a picture for a long-delayed art trade, a very-long-delayed picture for a site mascot, and a picture of Amy and Yuffie that didn't make for this week to finish.

...at least those are all of the things I remember...

This page was pretty rushed (finished just minutes before posting it). The last panel unintentionally makes it seem like Apollo doesn't care about Sharon's problems. I should have tweaked it a little.

I think I'm going to plan on not having a comic page next week. I have 2-3 commitments I don't think I'll ever finish unless I give myself some time.

I also have at least two pinup pictures that are in-progress that I need to work on (at least one for the update next week), as well as the anniversary picture for next month.

I also made some changes to the creators profile-type page. I have to do some more work on it.

The artist ZeroA died last week. I didn't even know that he was sick, or how he died exactly.

He and I have probably watched each other since I joined DA back in 2003. He usually commented on Final Fantasy pictures.

He always seemed to like the Blitzball pictures, even though I never finished drawing the two teams. He seemed to have a preference for Amy as well.

I had always meant to do an art trade with him, but I never asked him about it. I had also planned to ask him to design Amy a special dress-sphere for MM.

He was 29.

Flat coloring again... I'll have to go back and finish them up later. There's a good chance for typos, I was trying to beat the clock.

I've been working on a new gallery solution. It'll be at least weeks until it's finished. The anniversary in June probably is a realistic deadline.

I'm trying to put in things that have never been on the site before, like gift art to now dead sites, or just items that never got uploaded before.

I think I counted about 42 sections total, including each of the artists, and each of the guest art sections.

I'm using the last version of the flat gallery (from 2006) as a starting point, editing that, and then adding in any new items to that section. Complicating that are items that didn't appear before, and my trying to break up big sections (like my "other" gallery) to be organized the way the Plogger gallery is set up (I divided that into "anime", "gifts", etc.).

I'm not sure if most people will be as happy as me, but I just read about how there will be a fourth season of the anime series Slayers.

Lina, Gourry, Amelia and Zelgadiss will reportedly all return.

Hopefully it's not some kind of joke. ...I wonder if they'll have new outfits... I hope it's good.

No update this week. I just didn't finish anything.

I've been trying to do something about the gallery. Right now I'm working on making a flat hand-written gallery like we used to have.

I also made up this new news setup. I made a blog at Blogger, and the front page displays the latest post through RSS.

I've also been considering switching the lettering of the comics from InDesign to Illustrator. There are some advantages, and some negatives.

PeEVEed 102 and Pulse Artwork

For the new picture this week, I'm listing the version at DA (notice the little green da icon below), because of the gallery problems. I wanted to make sure it could be seen at full-size.

In the next few weeks, I'll be replacing the RSS feed and the email update subscription list. There will still be both features, but people will need to re-subscribe. Once I get a better look at it all, I'll put it up in advance of shutting down the current options.

I found an old version of the site from October 10th, 2000 (It's only 8MB). It's the oldest backup I've ever found, and I'll be putting it up for the anniversary this year (in June). I was getting ready to update with the Trials of Tifa at the time.
