Naklua Sub-district(Pattaya City) history.
Pattaya-Naklua Legend :

Long ago on the South East Asian Peninsula people lived as one. There were no borders and the countries of Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, Malaysia or Singapore were yet to be born. Kingdoms battled for and ruled the land. In the 17th century, there was one powerful kingdom called “Pukam Kingdom” –located in what is now Burma. The Pukam kings often invaded “Ayutthaya Kingdom” –located in the central part of Thailand, because of competition to be the most empowered kingdom in the region.

In 1767 during the fall of Ayutthaya, “Praya Taksin” recruited 500 good soldiers without provisions and fought through the Pukam solider’s siege to fight off the Pukam invaders. They migrated southeast to “Mung Chantanboon” or what is today Chantanburi Province. On the way, Praya Taksin rested his troops at an unknown town in present day Chonburi Province. So, people named it “Tappraya” meaning “Imperial Army”. Seven months after returning to Ayutthaya, Praya Taksin and his troops liberated the kingdom and became a great king in Siam or Thai history. Later on in the early 19th century, “Tappraya” was changed to “Pattaya” for ease of saying.

The most fascinating historical part of Pattaya, however, is in Naklua. Naklua has its own intriguing history. It started as a small fishery village. Chinese merchants who sailed ships from mainland China stopped here to sneak away from the ferocious pirates of Malaya. They dropped off opium, gold, goods and other provisions at this small fishery village before transferring to Bangkok. From then on, the Chinese merchants called the small fishery village “Na-Kua” which in Chinese means “Hard Sail Port”. However, all travelers saw that the village was located in the middle of nowhere and was full of wild fierce animals, abandoned thick canopy rain forests and, of course, ambushing pirates. So, they misunderstood the name of NaKua village to be, “Scary village” which is the meaning in Thai. Later on, the scary village quickly developed into a big community and a town densely populated by people from all over. Then, NaKua in Chinese was changed to “NaKlua” in Thai meaning “Salt farm”. Eventhough Naklua has no salt farms, it does have shellfish farms which have been a cash cow for farmers from generation to generation in Naklua. In more recent years, Naklua’s economy boomed due to its reputation for fresh, tasty seafood and its proximity to the fine beaches which served as an excellent rest and relaxation spot for US army & navy personnel during the Vietnam War. In particular, tourists from all over the world have enjoyed eating and shopping at the markets and local shops in NaKlua for over 50 years.

Modern day Naklua has experienced consistent population growth. There are over 43,000 people and more than 20,000 households divided into four big communities. These communities are referred to by the local residents as “Tarad Kao Naklua” community, “LanPo” community, “Wat ChongRom” community and “Soi PraiSanee” community. These traditional communities serve as an attraction to international tourists who come to enjoy the old town feeling it holds. Also the deeply rooted internationally minded and passionate moral philosophy of the people impresses whoever experiences it. The people’s dedication to their beliefs and traditions can be seen through the vibrant community involvement in the ceremonies to celebrate the Vegetarian season from October 17th-28th every year at the “Shrine of Chinese God” named “SanJao Sain Xui”. More than 10,000 people participate in the ceremonies at the shrine and commit themselves to not eat any meat, wear white cloths, practice meditation and pray for good health, a long life and prosperity forever. The Naklua communities exemplify the spirit of the unknown town that came alive and played a role in saving the kingdom of Thailand. They do this in their actions and the way that they live their lives, holding onto traditions while warmly welcoming the international community to enjoy its leisurely lifestyle.

The result is Amazon Kindle. We designed Kindle to provide an exceptional reading experience. Thanks to electronic paper, a revolutionary new display technology, you’ll find reading Kindle’s screen is as sharp and natural as reading ink on paper—and nothing like the strain and glare of a computer screen. Kindle is also easy on the fingertips. It never becomes hot, and is designed for ambidextrous use so both “lefties” and “righties” can read comfortably at any angle for long periods of time. We wanted Kindle to be completely mobile and simple to use for everyone, so we made it wireless. No PC and no syncing needed. Using the same 3G network as advanced cell phones, we deliver your content using our own wireless delivery system, Amazon Whispernet. Unlike WiFi, you’ll never need to locate a hotspot. There are no confusing service plans, yearly contracts, or monthly wireless bills—we take care of the hassles so you can just read. With Whispernet, you can be anywhere, think of a book, and get it in one minute. Similarly, your content automatically comes to you, wherever you are. Newspaper subscriptions are delivered wirelessly each morning. Most magazines arrive before they hit newsstands. Haven’t read the book for tomorrow night’s book club? Get it in a minute. Finished your book in the airport? Download the sequel while you board the plane. Whether you’re in the mood for something serious or hilarious, lighthearted or studious, Kindle delivers your spontaneous reading choices on demand. We’re very proud to introduce Kindle and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Hope to serve you,regarding.

Mr.Sukij Boonplok
http://i522.photobucket.com/albums/w349/iji2008/Peter.png
Manager of Pattayaorganization and Management
e-mail:bpeter.p2@gmail.com
Authors of poster:Mr.Sukij(Peter) Boonplok

the options include open-air bars, nightclubs, cabaret shows and discos have opened. The nightlife centre is South Pattaya, popularly known as"The Strip"http://www.cityoflove.com/index.aspx?url=http%3A//www.cityoflove.com/en/Thailand/Pattaya/default.aspx ,but if this is a trifle brash and noisy for some tastes, there are alternative, quieter spots for evening fun in more relaxed style.Shopping too,can be an evening attraction. Most establishments close late, and the dedicated bargain hunter can find all of Thailand's best buys-silk,gems and jewellery,tailor-made clothing, handicrafts and more.
Accommodation:
Pattaya boasts an incredible choise of accommodation to suit every pocket.Facilities range from luxury hotels with private beaches to bayside hotes and bungalows, and inland, economy class hotes and guest houses.
Getting There:
For getting around the main bay area, the minibuses and baht buses charge a flat fare of Bt10.The run to naklua is also Bt10,and to Jomtien Bt30.Drivers usually ask for Bt40 to travel up the hill to the Royal Cliff Beach Resorthttp://book.hotelreservations.com/index.jsp?pageName=hotInfo&cid=165272&hotelID=177871&temp1=sme290042&temp2=381782505&gclid=CKSDtKXhpZUCFQccegodWgVvkQ.Motorcycle hire will cost you between Bt150 and Bt700 a day, depending on size.Be very confident of your ability to handle the bigger bikes, including your skills in taking swift evasive action.Wear a crash helment.A jeep from a beachside vendor is about Bt1000 a day.Check that you have enough gasoline in the tank to get yourself to the nearest filling station, and satisfy yourself the brakes are shrap. You will not be asked to show your driving licence, but most of these beachside hire places will ask that you deposit your passport with them.Ask where going to keep it,because it maysimply be placed in the attendant's pocket or shoulder bag and travel around with him.Bicycles can be hired from beachside vendors at Bt100 a day,or Bt20 an hour.If you prefer to drive reputable vehicles with full insurance cover, and it is strongly advised,Pattaya has a choice of car rental companies. The leading name is Budget Car and Truck Rental in North Pattayahttp://www.budget.co.th/at Thip plaza (pattaya soi.10 & soi.11).In addition to international standards of service, this company will also offer you special deal, tour ideas, maps and other attractions to make your stay easier. If you prefer not to self drive then Image 5 star Taxi Company offers 1 way/return trips throughout Pattaya or hour by hour hire. They will pickup at your hotel or condo with their door to door service.
Climate:
Pattayahttp://pattayavariety.blogspot.com/ has three seasons:November to february,when it's hot;March to May,when it's hot and humid;and June to October,when it's hot and wet.
Clothing:
Dress as lightly as possible.Because of the heat and humidity,man-made fibres are not recommended.Pack some cool cottons, and if you find you are changing your clothes at an alarming rate, you will be able to buy locally made clothing very cheaply.Shorts and sandals are the usual daytime wear.In hotels and the more upmarket restaurants, wear smart casual. If visiting a temple, the usual dress rules apply:gentlemen,no shorts please, and long sleeves are preferred;ladies,no shorts, short skirts,or halter-tops.
Post and Telecommunications:
The Post office and international telephone office are together in South Pattayahttp://pattayavariety.blogspot.com/ on Soi.15,known to all as Soi.Post Office. There are also several privately run long-distance phone centres, most notably along Beach Road. These will be slightly more expensive than the government service.
Internet Services:
As in Bangkok, the number of internet cafes seems to increase every week. Most will post their rates in the window, and as competition is intense, the prices are invariably low.
Health & safety:
Never drink tap water, and don't even gargle with it.Always use bottled water, which is readily available and inexpensive, particularly if you choose a local brand. The sun is strong, even during the rainy season and when there is cloud cover,so use a good sunscreen and limit your exposure time.Malariahttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malaria is no threat, but mosquito bites can be a major irritant.Seafood is mostly caught locally and is of high quality, but given the spicy ingredients to almost any meal, the occasional upset stomach is a possibility. The most likely way of slowing down your vacation is by having an accident,so watch your step when crossing the road, even(or especially)at traffic lights and pedestrain crossings.Medicine for minor ailments are readily available at the many drug stores in the city, and a high standard of medical treatment for more serious problems canbe expected from most of the clinics and hospitals.General practitioners, dentists, opticians and pharmacies are readily available. Each of the private hospitals has its own ambulance service 24-hour emergency facilities. Most medical specialties are represented:neurology, orthopedics, obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, internal medicine, surgery, urology, dentistry.Bangkok Pattaya Hospitalhttp://www.bangkokpattayahospital.com/en/index.php is the referral hospital for cardiac patients as well as for other severe traumas and injuries.Note that an ambulance is not routinely called in the event of an automobile accident, and if you require assistance from the government service,a Thai-speaking person should dial 191 in Pattaya Cityhttp://www.ijobsi.blogspot.com/.Or 193 on the highway to arrange an ambulance service. For information and advice, the Tourism Authority of Thailand(TAT) http://www.tourismthailand.org/index.phpCentral Officea:Region 3 (Pattaya) is open seven days a week throughout the year, including public and national holidays, from 08.30 a.m. until 4.30 p.m.Tel.(038)428 750 or (038)429 113.
Action Attraction:
http://www.tourismthailand.org/attraction/chonburi-20-1.html
Pattaya Cityhttp://pattayavariety.blogspot.com/ is one of the oldest diving centres in this part of Asia.It has a year-round diving season with good visibility, the waters have a mean temperature of 28 degrees C,and there is a rich variety of marine life and coral. There is a great wreck that divers can explore.Located about 1-1/2 hours from pattaya is the HTMS Khram Wreck. This 60 meter vessel lies upright in 28 meters of water. Here, you can watch as Big Bat Fish,Schooling Baracuda and Sting Ray make their way around the wreck. Most of the centers along the waterfront costs average at about 3,000 baht per day, including transportation, food and equipment.Visitors can windsurf, water ski,sea walk, swim, sunbathe, snorkel, sail,or take trips to offshore coral islands. They can rent water scooters to explore neighbouring beaches such as the increasingly popular Jomtien Beachhttp://www.tourismthailand.org/attraction/chonburi-20-3282-1.html just south of Pattayahttp://pattayavariety.blogspot.com/.Tennis enthusiasts can enjoy themselves at the courts of leading hotels.Further entertainment includes bowling alleys, snooker halls, shooting galleries and archery.
Authors of poster:Mr.Sukij(Peter) Boonplok

contemplating joining the Pattaya - Jomtien expat community? You will find a wonderful cross-section of people here and making great new friends is easy.Pattaya-Jomtien has many quality clubs you can join ranging from expat clubs,a wine tasting group to Rotary Club and veterans organizations.Regardless of which country you are from, what gender your sex or what interests you have, you will find a group or organization that matches your needs. Now that you are serious about living in Thailand inexpensively year around while enjoying the beautiful weather, there are a few things best to consider before making the move.Prior to shipping your belongings,do a little research .

To start with, read bangkokpost newspaperhttp://www.bangkokpost.com/040708_Realtime/04Jul2008_real010.php from front to back.you will discover pertinebt information about living in Thailand(in general) as well as Pattaya City .

Determine the type of long-term visa you qualify for and whether you can obtain it here or if you must acquire it at a Thai Consulate or Embassy in your country prior to moving here.

Do you need immunizations?Various immunizations are required or recommended depending on what country you come from as well as countries you have visited.

Find out what items you may NOT ship into Thailand(like guns and certain substances).

Considering the difficulty and liability of driving in Thailand, whether to drive or not is worth serious deliberation. It isn't necessary since Thailand has plenty of public transportation. If you must, importing any type of vehicle is expensive and not recommended.Check out custom regulations.

For all family members;bring birth certificates, immunization records, driver's licenses, passports, naturalization papers, adoption papers, school records and any other important legal documents, either personal or required, and hand carry them with you.

Converting an International Drivers Licence (IDL)is the quickest and easiest way to get a Thai Drivers Licence.Obtain an IDL in your home country before moving to Thailand. An IDL is for temporary driving while on vacation or business and is valid in Thailand for only one month regardless of its expiration date.

Can you afford to live in Thailand?Rather than move here on a romantic whim and discover you are broke within a couple of years with nothing to go back home to,visit a few more years and get your finances in order.(i)If you are not retired, jobs for foreigners are few and difficult to get in Thailand.(ii)Be familiar with the currency exchange rate and be prepared if it changes downward.(iii)Determine the least expensive way to move your money to Thailand.(iiii)Set up a realistic budget based on Thai currency, not in terms of what things cost you back home.(iiiii)If you own a home, before you sell it talk with your banker about the possibility of a reverse mortgage on it.

Check with Pattaya real estate companies about housing, know what is available and what housing sells or rents for let "Suphaphat Group & Travelling" to manage that problem for you contact:bpeter.p2@gmail.com website:http://pattayavariety.blogspot.com/

There are many choices:shop houses, townhouses, condos and single family homes of all sizes both new and existing.Research the methods you can legally own, what it will cost and in what area of town you feel comfortable living in.

If you have pets,do you bring them or leave them?If you leave them,be humane and find the critters good homes. If you bring them, check health and entry requirements as well as shipping costs.

Many electrical appliances and equipment back home may not work on Thai 220 volt electricity plus you may have to pay customs duty.Appliances that need current converters are better sold and new ones purchased in Thailand.

If you have school age children, they may need to go to an international school and health records are required to get your children enrolled?

Know your health care options. Will your current health insurance cover you in Thailand? If you cancel it and later on become in poor health care, you won't be able to reinstate your policy. You must become familiar with the level of health care that is available and decide whether you feel this health care acceptable. This is especially true if you already suffer a health problem that requires medical maintenance,.

Don't bring every-thing you own. Most items can be repurchased in Thailand at a very season able cost. You might be able to sell some of yourbelongings at a used price back home and then purchase it new in Thailand for the same or less cost.

Ready for a smooth, trouble free move? There is one more very important thing.Realize that you will be changing roles from a native citizen to a non-citizen living in a foreign country.Residency is considerably different attitudes,a different than visiting. It can become tedious for some people when they have to constantly interact with different attitudes,a different couture,a different language and many other differences that require them to adjust, not the thais.Regardless of whether the Thais do things differently than how you do it back in your country,Thailand is their country and you,the foreigner, must adapt.Be honest with yourself and determine if you have the character and personality to accept and adjust. If you do,then welcome to your new home.

and Rolling' than rest and recreation. This was the year 1968 (with some researchers claimimg the exact date to be the 29th of June) when the first men arrived, and have since continued to arrive by the planeload. As seen throughout history, all the services and vices that flock to service large groups of homesick, cash flush, testosterone fuelled young( and old) men now flooded the area.

Legend of Pattaya City has it that Phraya(Governor)Takhttp://dit.dru.ac.th/home/012/king_e.html ,who later became King Taksin the Great of Thonburi, broke out of the Burmese besieged(then)capital of Ayutthaya with 1,000 of his followers in 1767.With the Burmese in hot pursuit,he marched east towards Prachinburi and then turned south towards Sattahip on the Gulf of Thailand. When he reached the small fishing village of Naklua,he encountered a local Chieftain Nai Klom with 10,000 warriors who luckily recognized Phraya Tak's virtues and united with him rather than fight.Together they marched south again via Jom-Thian(Jomtien),Sattahip and then Chantaburi where Phraya Tak rebuilt his forces in preparation to re-conquer Central Thailand. The road connecting South Pattaya and Jomtien is still know as "Thappraya(Army of Phraya/Governor) Road ".So,that was a Pattaya Cityhttp://www.pattayaspot.com/

Regard,

Mr.Peter Boonplok

Manager of Suphaphat Group and Travelling

Authors of poster:Mr.Sukij(Peter) Boonplok
