Gosh! It has been ages since I update anything. I have been busy playing with Wordpress that I neglected my first born baby here... Well, frankly speaking, I have not written anything in English for so long except for the emails that I have to respond in the office. Otherwise, I've been busy polishing my Bahasa, which I'm proud to say that I have improved compared to two years ago. That is a big change for me. However, I'm still struggling to respond an official email in Bahasa. Words didn't come that easily whenever I tried to write in Bahasa. Hopeless case! Hahahahaa..

Well, of late I have been thinking a lot, thinking about my future. Where I want to be not in few years time but next two months. Yup, my contract with 7E is going to end this October. To be more specific, it will end in mid-October. Not that they don't want me, but it was more of whether I want to continue with them.

Before I decided to come back from the semi-retirement, I was working on my pet project or sometimes, I called it Option B. I have been dreaming of this project since four years ago. Of having a bookstore and selling stationary, but over the years, it changed. From stationary to cafe. So, for the past two years, I was working on the idea. Looking at the fund and the market and so on. Finally, I got the chances when I opted to accept the Maxis scheme. Off I went and happily putting the vision into the plan.

But... the vision, the dream was stopped by my sleeping partner. It took me about a year to convince him of this bookcafe concept. We started looking for the ideal location, and we found it and now we are ready to move to second gear. I also work on the timeline where it will be ready just in time when my contract expired.

The current project, which I'm currently involved is expected to complete by July, but lo and behold... the project got delayed. From July to October and now seems it will be delay further.

I scratched my head. I thought if the rollout takes place in July, the operation stabilization is expected for three months, then it is just nice for me to leave. But it doesn't look that way. Hmm... I can't be selfish and just pack and go. But my conscious mind tells me not to abandon my team. They are a young team. They need guidance, and they have been telling me not to go too. They wanted me to continue at least for another year.

At the other end, my pet project is taking shape. The idea that I conceive is slowly turning into a reality. The project is my new baby. I wanted to see it grow from an unknown to someone. I don't want to miss the steps, the fumble, and the push it going to make. I want to be there. To be together with my crew and to get the satisfaction of running my baby. It will give me the satisfaction.

In one hand, it is my responsibilities to my beloved team, while, on the other hand, it is my responsibilities to my own satisfaction and family. I have to think really hard about it and to decide the way to move forward. People might say, hire someone to run the business, but will I get the satisfaction? Maybe not.

So it is a tough decision for me. It is between my obligation to my team, my boss and my CIO versus my dream, my passions, and future... Whatever it is, I have him, the ALMIGHTY, to seek for guidance. Insya Allah, I will able to make the decision soon. Meantime, I'll let my mind do the pro and con of continue to work or leave.

This is what happened when I have nothing to update. So I rambled....

Zaiabdrahman: Hey Zai! Where have you been? You have been neglecting this blog for months. Just because you have a new boyfriend, you neglected me. That is totally unfair. What is so special with your new boyfriend?

zai: Calm down, friend.

Zaiabdrahman: Oh.. what do you call me?

zai: *scratching her head* Hmm... friend.

Zaiabdrahman: Friend? You told me that I'm the special one. The one and only one for you. Forever together. Do you remember that?

zai: *slowly nodding her head* But things happened. I need a more exciting boyfriend.

Zaiabdrahman: Now you called me boring.

zai: No..no.. I didn't mean that.

Zaiabdrahman: Then what?

zai: *Lost of word* Hmmm,,,,You need to be more flexible. The other guy can speak malay and english but you can only speak english.

Zaiabdrahman: I can accommodate that. I can learn malay very fast. It won't be a problem.

zai: It is to me.

Zaiabdrahman: What is the problem?

zai: The other guy wants me to be in an exclusive relationship with him

Zaiabdrahman: Are...are... you leaving me? *feeling sad*

zai: *shaking head* No, I would never leave you. I might be away for long, but I will always come and visit you. You are very dear to me. I first started with you. Learn my way around you. I can't just leave you like that.

Zaiabdrahman: *Feeling down* *Almost wanted to cry*

zai: Hey! Don't cry. You are a man. Fight for it.

Zaibadrahman: Tell me how?

zai: Just seduce my brain and my fingers. Get them to cooperate so that I can spend more time here.

Zaiabdrahman: That's it? Seduce your brain and fingers? I think I can do it. *smile slowly"

zai: *nodding head* Yup.. seduce them.

Zaiabdrahman: I will. I will. Thanks love for the tips. I love you.

zai: I love you too... Bye.. I'll come again.

Knocking on our door...

Hello! I’m back. Have I been away? Not really. I was just busy playing with Wordpress. Trying to out what is good and bad about Wordpress. So far, I like it…. Check me out at zaiabdrahman.wordpress.com; just a caution though… the blog is in mixed lingo… I have english and malay update that I posted over there… Hmmm… actually there are more malay post than english.., apa-apa aja lah.

Hey, do you know that something is just lurking around the corner? No? Yes? Well…if you know it is good, if not let me tell you what it is… (1) Ramadan is just around the corner. It will be knocking on our door this coming Saturday. (2) Tomorrow is a big day for me and my hubby. It is our 22nd anniversary… Wow… it has been a long journey full of ups and downs, lows and highs… but I won’t share the story on my journey with my partner in crime today. Let's talk about Ramadan….

How ready are we with Ramadan? If you are adults and teenagers , you should be ready. Ready to give our tummy a rest for a month. But is it really a rest knowing that our society has a tendency to eat a lot during iftar? Or some might be eating and drinking for three quarter of the night. Well, if you do, cut down on that.

Okay, back to my family. Are we ready? Of course… that is always a standard answer. Right? Well, actually my two young kids are really looking forward to this fasting month. They have been talking for a week on this. If Zaki is confident that he can fast the whole month, InsyaAllah he can, I’m not sure about Zara.

Zara is only eight and she has been having some tummy problem, on and off. To be exact, she has gastric. It will be very challenging for her. Well, nothing much I can do except to make sure that her condition did not get worse during the month of Ramadan. Anyway, both of them are not at the age where it is compulsory for them to fast yet. But somehow, they need to start practicing it.

Oh ya… in this holy month of Ramadan, Insyaallah, I am going to cut down on reading those books. What books? Hah…the lovey dovey, mushy mushy novels. I’m gonna spend, Insya Allah, more time reading the Al Quran and also a few books that I bought earlier like Aisyah Ummul Mukminin, Hassan Al-Bana, Salahuddin Al-Ayubi and few others. Those books have been in my TBR (To Be Read) list for quite sometimes. Instead of gracing my bookshelf, it is time for the books to grace my nightstands and my table.

Okay folks… gtg.. haha.. what the $$$$ is that.. Well... I got to go. I need to finish this book Cooper-K by RodieR before the month of Ramadan and also wishing you selamat berpuasa.

Exploring my new toy -

I'm still learning and exploring WordPress. So far, I 'm impressed with WordPress. Uploading pictures, copying contents from my blogspot to here is also easy. Checking on the stats is also easy as 1,2,3. But there are so many other things that I have still yet to explore.

I have not finished playing with the tools and all the linkage that is available.The tools and appearance will be my next target for me to play. Will changing the layout and colors as easy as blogspots? Fonts setting is another one that I'm looking forward to.

Besides the few good things that I have found, I have found one drawback. I might be wrong but this is what I found. WordPress gives limited space to each user. I'm not sure whether every one of the users is assigned 3GB in the beginning. So, people like me will find 3GB is enough. Eh... I'm not sure about it in the long run, but for now it is just enough. If you are heavy users and really use your blogs to generate income, you may need to pay for additional space.

Paroxysm of Reminisce

Ever heard of this song before? Paroxysm of Reminisce. Huh! Can’t pronounce it? Haha....garbled it up? Whatever it is, this is my latest go to song when I need something to pump me up. What? An old lady listening to this kind of song? Hey!… I’m might be old, but I always feel young at heart.

When I first heard this song, my first reaction was “WOW," and seriously I like this song since the first time I heard it. This song has been featured in my playlist since they released it few weeks back.

Well… This song is by a bunch of guys that some of them, I know them personally. They are my son’s friends and, in fact, my son has some touch to the song too. A little tiny little bit of melody in there. Huh! Frankly I don’t know whether he has any contribution to the song, but for the past one week, they have been to my house practicing/recording some songs. Hmm…By the way, these guys called themselves ASADBand or As Simple As Death Band. Scary name kan???

What make me so into this song. Well, whenever I listened to this song it reminds me the time of me and my brother and my sister imitating ourselves to be rock stars. We used to listen to Deep Purple, Led Zepplin, Uriah Heep and many other bands that I kind of forgot them. It was a joy for us at that time when the three of us will sit at the living room and have the LP record on at night. At that time, there was no CD or MP3 or iPod. Just the old vinyl record. Me always pretend to be Lee Karslake, the drummer, my sister guitarist and singer with my brother the lead guitar. Huh… What a memory it was!

Two days ago, I posted this song on my FB and tagged my sister. My sister commented, ‘Nice… ala-ala Iron Maiden.’ (just like Iron Maiden). That is a compliment from a person who listened mainly to rock and heavy metals.

Does this song has anyone else listening to it in this house. You bet! My three other kids love this song too. The have this song in their youtube playlist too. Ibu doesn’t have to influence them to listen to this song. They will search for it themselves.

Getting fit again

Part of SAHM - feeding kitty

Hello! It has been a while since I update anything here. Didn't do it on purpose, but I was busy. Busy with my new life as Stay At Home Mom. Frankly speaking, all those years working in big corporate world didn’t prepare me for this kind of storm.

It has been two months of tiring world for me, and I am still adjusting to the new role. Well if it took three months for me to be confirmed when I was working so I guess I need that one more month to be confirmed that I am fit to be SAHM.

Ha..ha.. ha… whether I’m fit or not I will be stuck with this new role. Well not everything is bad in this new role. There are good and bad things… more good things than bad actually

Ah.. enough of my boring stories as SAHM. So what else have I been working on besides SAHM?

Well, working on my health. Well it was always my priority to get myself fit again. Years of neglect and abuse on my body did take a toll on my health. I was basically having big mobility issues last two years and guess what, the two months that I stayed at home has improved my health a lot. Especially to my mobility.

Last weekend, after months of avoiding going shopping I went to Alamanda. Heh! I walked for quite a distance before my back started to get cramps. It was basically walking, stopping, sitting and walking again for me. I was happy with that progress as previously I could only walk for 50-100m before my back started cramping and causing the whole body stiff.

And on Sunday, I went to Kajang Metro. This time shopping for printer. I was without printer for almost a year, and finally after putting off buying it for a few months, I finally get a Canon printer. Good enough to cater for my current needs.

Ha..ha..ha…..again, the same technique was applied as I was in Alamanda, but this time, I covered quite a distance before I need to rest and sit. That was an achievement, right? Yes, indeed!

But I have to pay for the price of overdoing this. My knee suddenly gets locked up, and I had a problem to stands for a while. Luckily I have the cooling pad that the moment I reached home, I applied it over my throbbing knee. It helps, but the soreness is still there.

And today, I feel much better. And I plan to do nothing for today…I need to give my knee some more rest. And also I’m going to cook curry – not chicken but crab… Wanna join me for dinner tonight?

Hahahaha....Okay..... got to go, and it rhyming with Let it Go which I’m listening to now… Chiao…

When I Saw an Old Picture of my Crush....

Whoaa….. I saw a picture of my crush few weeks back, and it was an old picture. The picture was taken somewhere in the early 80’s, and it was taken in ITM or now famously known as UiTM.

You might be wondering how on earth I managed to get hold of this picture. Well someone from my batch were kind enough to upload his collection of pictures during his college days.

I was looking through the picture one by one when this particular picture and one particular person caught my eyes. Caught my eyes only… Nothing extraordinary happened. My heartbeat still beat at the same pace. The only thing happened when I saw that picture was it brought back some of the memories…. Angau time I called it.

What happened to him after college? I don’t know. But I guess he must have gotten married and with few kids. Heh! Who knows, he might be a grandpa already. Hehe… I might be wrong, but didn’t that normally what people do? Graduated, get married, have kids, and the cycle goes on. Well whatever it is, I wish him all the best.

My Saturday

It’s only one week and I kind of lost track of days. For past three days, I thought it was Saturday. Three days ago, I went to hospital thinking it was Friday and when the nurse told me it was Wednesday, it took sometimes for me to register it is not Friday yet. I’m afraid that by end of January, I might totally forget the day and date.

Today, I know it Saturday because my hubby told me yesterday that we are going to IKEA. Hmmmm….. IKEA is the place where I try not to go there. My hubby can be in IKEA for hours. He simply loves the place.

He wanted to get a new bookshelf. I just don’t understand how many bookshelves that he wants. We already have a few. Let me count… one in the family area, one in Syafiq’s room, one in Zara’s room, one big one in the family area and one in the guess room. So all in all there are five bookshelves.

My hubby said that the new one is meant for Zaki and Amir. It is not purely for books only, but also for Amir’s tools and whatever he created. I agreed with his reasoning so off we went to IKEA after our breakfast. We wanted to beat the crowd, and we managed to that.

I didn’t follow him circling IKEA. I waited for him outside the cafeteria but I didn’t eat anything. I had roti canai for my breakfast at Islamic Kitchen, so I was still full. He said he would be fast, and while waiting for him, I watched people passing by. Interesting observation!

True to his word, I didn’t wait that long. Within 30 minutes, he has made the selection. I thought that we will go straight to the racks to collect the shelves, but he has other plans. He detoured and started to buy plants, pots and container. Hmmm…. Sabar aje lah…

By the time we left IKEA, it was almost twelve and the kids tuition will start at two-thirty. So, there is not enough time to get the Sg Besi Nasi Ayam. Instead, we swinged to Mac Donald next to the old Mint Hotel. I can’t remember the hotel new name. Actually, McD is no more my favorite. Dah bosan!

My hubby started to assemble the shelf after the tutors went back, and he managed to get it up by nine-thirty. It was quite sometimes since he assembles anything. Haha,…. The next project is to get my hubby to assemble the coffee table that has been in the storeroom for more than a year. I really hope that he will get the coffee table assemble.

Gonna Miss Them

Who will I miss most now that I’m no more the resident of the level six? Will it be my boss? Nah… he is just one of the guys.

What about my team? Yeah… I will surely miss them.. They are a bunch of good girls. Let see who they are.

Suja, my sidekick, who has been with me through thick and thin, who together swim, drown and float with me during the early days of outsourcing, who struggled together to understand those $$ signed and making a sensible report out of it.

Yeah…I have to say that our relationship is not only as a boss and staff but also as a friend. Sitting next to each other gave us lots of opportunity to gossip, and one thing that I’m going to miss most is teasing her.

Emma, Inez, and Julia are the other three ladies who I’m gonna miss too. Haha…they must be relieved now. No more tapauing for Zai. Actually, these young girls are my teachers. Whenever there are new jargons, they will be my reference point. Occasionally, they are my partners to discuss on the novels that we shared.

I’m gonna miss Kit, or sometimes when I’m in a teasing mood, I called him Kit Kat. He is the tallest guy on the sixth floor. There were a lot of things that we shared, mostly like kakak and adik. Whenever something bothers him, he will squat down between Suja and me. I knew then that he had something on his mind. We are basically a team. We can gang up and tease Inez and Suja at a click of our fingers. Same wavelengths when it comes to teasing. Ohhhh… how I’m gonna miss those moments.

I’m gonna miss the rest of the CCG teams too. Chris and his finance team are the busiest team. Always huddled together to look at the figure, and if not lucky all three will be sitting around the big boss table.

The contract team, Daniel, Anne and Ivan, is the quietest among the three groups. They daily activities are to read through the contracts or deals with things pertaining to contracts. They will sit and stared at the contracts and will only get up whenever there is something to discuss.

The noisiest team among the three is my team. Sourcing team or Girl Power, where we deal with vendors for quotation and other related sourcing activities. Haha there were times you can hear Inez screaming and shouting at someone over the phone. Hope she will tone down later. Don’t want her stress level to go up.

Others that I’m gonna miss is Mei Khuen and Wan. They are my basically my lunch buddies whenever my BFF not around or whenever times permit. I’m gonna miss our lunch at the break out area where we shared one story after another.

But one person that I’m going to miss most is Yati, My BFF. We shared a lot and discussed our life, our faith, our kids, hubbies, and families and of course about works. With Yati, it will always be a serious discussion, looking for some solution or advise. Our friendships will not stop here. We can always interact through phones and other media.

Also, I’m going to miss the people on the sixth and fifth floor. Even though I do not have any close interaction with some of them, but the spirit as one ISD is there. You have shown it during the teambuilding. Keep up the spirit and raise to challenge, my fellow ISDians…

Tale of Land of No Name - Final Episode

More and more people are coming to the land of no names. The older citizen of Land of no Names felt that they were not wanted anymore. Even though they felt that way, they continued to do their chores and works without complaint.

One day, there was news blowing across the land of no names that the powerful king is planning to take over the Land of no Names.

“Did you heard the news, John?” asked Matthew as they were walking towards the field.

“What news?”

“That the Northern King is coming to take over the land?”

“Really?”

“Yes and it going to impact us big time John.”

“What do you mean?”

“The new king said the land has more people than what it can offer.”

“So?”

“So there will be some people who will ask to go.”

“Go? Go where?” asked John. He looked worried.

“I don’t know. They will simply choose the one they don’t want and out you go.”

“Hmmm… you are pulling my leg, right Matthew?” John stopped walking.

Matthew just shook his head and continued to walk towards his house. John quickened his steps to join Matthew. Suddenly Matthew stopped and turned his body to look at his corn fields. The vast field was his property, and he didn’t want to leave the field.

“What if the king chooses me?” He mumbled.

“I don’t want to leave,” he shouted and quickly turned and walked to his house.

John was surprised to see Matthew’s behavior.

“Aahhh… don’t tell me that the rumor is true?” said John softly.

Now he’s worried. He also didn’t want to leave this place, the place where he learned his trade, the place where he met his wife, the place where his children grew up.

He walked to his slowly, thinking about what to do if the new is right. He needed to have plans if the king asked him to leave. Upon reaching his house, John quickly called his wife.

“Sarah honey! Sarah!” John walked to the kitchen where he normally found his wife.

“Oh dear! Sorry.... didn’t here you”

Sarah quickly went to get John a glass of water. John who was sitting at the dining table quickly drank the water.

“Thanks honey.”

“What’s up dear? You looked worried.”

“Hmm… Matthew told me that there’s a rumor going around that the land will be taken over by a new king. More people will have to leave the land.”

“What are we going to do John?”

“We need to plan, Sarah. We need to make sure that we have something that we can use when we leave the land.”

“What about the land, John? This is our forefather’s lands. It has so many memories.” Sarah wanted to cry.

“Sarah, this is just a rumor. Let’s think of our plan and execute it if it happens.” Sarah nodded her head in agreement to what John’s said.

Somewhere in Matthew’s house, the house was noisy. As usual his young kids were in the house playing. Matthew sat at the chair in the living room, looking outside through the window. He sighed, thinking his future. He didn’t want to leave.

While he was watching the fields, Jane came out from the kitchen with a glass of water. She stopped when she saw Matthew was not his self. ‘What happened’ wondered Jane.

“Hi honey!” Jane greeted Matthew cheerful and gave Matthew a kiss on his cheek.

“Hi!’ he replied softly.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. Just tired.”

“Hmm… Why don’t you rest first before dinner? It will be ready in twenty minutes.” Jane rubbed Matthew’s shoulder. Matthew nodded.

“Kids,” called Jane, “quiet, please. Daddy’s tired and need some rest.”

Jane went to the kitchen to prepare for dinner. Matthew continued to look outside thinking about his future.

Few months later, the rumors became true. One district after another has been asked to select who should be asked to leave the congested and overpopulated Land of No Names. Matthew and John were worried that they would be selected.

“I don’t want to go, John.”

“Ha? You don’t want to go?”

“No. I love this place, and I don’t think I can be apart from it.”

“Matthew, if you are selected you have no choice. You have to go. They will be paying you and you can start a new life outside this Land of No Name.”

“Do you want to go John? Really going?” Matthew asked.

“I am ready Matthew. I have made plans with Sarah what we going to do and where?”

Matthew was shocked to hear that John has planned. He never knew that John and Sarah, their good neighbor, has some planned if they selected.

“It is not too late to start thinking what you want to do,” said John softly to Matthew.

Matthew nodded and quickly went back to see Jane. He knew that he needed to discuss with Jane on their future. Upon reaching his home, he stopped at the door. Slowly he raised his hand and twisted the knob, at the same time thinking on his plan.

He went to the kitchen where Jane usually was. Slowly he walked to Jane. Jane, who was very engrossed in kneading the flour, was shocked to see Matthew. Normally, Matthew would still be at the field.

“What’s wrong baby?”

“Hmm… Did you hear anything about people was asked to leave Land of No Name?” asked Matthew.
“Yup I did. Why?” asked Jane.

“What if, we are selected to be the one?”

“Oh… just pack our things and go.”

“Go where and what to do?”

“Matt, I knew you are worried about this. I have already contacted my sister in the North. Her husband has a mill, and if we want to, we can join them.”

Matthew’s spirit went up. At least his wife has some planned, and now he can breathe easily.

“Thank you dear” Matthew gave his wife a kiss.
As Matthew came out from his house, he heard someone called his name. He turned and saw Gabriel.
“What’s up, Gab?”
“Hmm… I heard there’s a rumor.”
“What rumor?”
“The one that anyone of us can be asked to leave this place.”
Matthew nodded.
“I’m scared. I’m not ready Matt.”
“Pray that you are not selected.” Matthew turned toward the field.
Gabriel sighed.
“Gab, one more thing. Start planning for other thing if you are selected,” shouted Matthew.

Two weeks later, the King called them to the castle. John, Matthew, Richard, and Thomas were called. All four knew that they were the selected one.

“Dear all,” said the king, “You knew why I called you here, right?”

"Yes said John. The rest nodded.

“The new ruler wanted the piece of your lands. They wanted to build a new castle for the king. You will be paid for the lands.”

“How much, sir?” asked Thomas.

“A lot. Will a pouch of gold coins enough?” He showed a medium size of pouch that has been filled with money.

The king asked his general to hand the pouch to the four of them. There were names written on the pouch. The four opened the pouch and smiled. It was more than enough to last for few generations.

“Thank you sir,” the four said at once.

“Oh ya… you have, until the end of the month to move out.”
The king reminded them.

They rushed home and told their wives. Everyone was happy. Who have thought that their land would purchase such a fortune? But they didn’t know that each of them received different amount. It depends on the size and location of their land, but whatever it is, it is more than enough.

Gabriel upon hearing that Matthew and John were selected was relieved. His name was not mentioned, and he could continue with his life. Gabriel went to see Matthew.
“Matt, I heard the news.”
“Yup Gabriel. I was selected, but I’m very happy. It gave me an opportunity for me to do other things.”
“You are not sad, Matt.”
“I am, but life has to go on,” said Matthew with a satisfied and happy grin.
“All the best mate.”
“You too.”
Finally, the time has come. Everything that they wanted has been loaded into the wagon. The kids and the wives had said goodbye. Matthew and John for the last time stood together looking at the fields which they have been doing since they were small.

“I’m going to miss this place,” John said softly.

“Me too. There are too many memories.”

“Yup. Matt, did you remember when we first played in the corn fields?”

“Hmm… when we couldn’t find our way home where our parents and the neighbors have to help to look for us.” Matthew laughed.

They stood there reminiscing the old days remembering all the important events that happened to them. They were silent. No words could describe how the felt. For the last time, they looked at the place knowing that, it won’t be there anymore. Their houses and fields would be replaced by big castles.

Sara and Jane, who watched from the wagon, walked to their husband. They stood beside their husbands. Holding hands and saying goodbye to the place that has served them.

“Good bye, but forever you will stay in my hearts.”

Yeah! It's Friday. Let's enjoy the day. Forget whatever happened yesterday and let's
focus on today. Yes, I'm going to focus on today and my future. No point in dwelling with what happened in the past.

Talking about future, I have few things line up for me. Whether it is going to materialize, I'm not sure, but I really hope that it will happen.

I also need to focus on my health. Years of abusing my body has taken its toll. Time to take a break from work. Time to refocus on what I want to do. Time to re-strategize my life. Spending more time to enhance my spiritual and less on the worldly goods.

My new path will not be easy. I bet there will be lots of challenges, but nothing is more satisfying than getting things after overcoming all the hurdles in life. Insya Allah, I will persevere, I will overcome all the hurdles and be successful.

Never throw in the towel before I try.... that's my motto.

This blog has been very quiet. It slowly gathering dust, but I hope that I will come here regularly and clean the dust. Not a promise but I will try my best to be here.

Do you know that when I created my malay blog, I never expect to feel like I have two wife. The English blog is my first wife or an old wife where my malay blog is my new wife. Like a man who practice polygamy, I also felt the same. I spent so much time with my new wife, until I feel like I neglected my first wife. Nauzubillah... di jauhkan dari perasaan ini....

It is not my intention to spend more time with my new wife, but I found that sometimes, it is easier to write there than here. Maybe, I don't care about my grammar or my language on my malay blog. The language is more relax. Casual.

When I first created this blog, I was kind of free. Not much work at that time, and I kind of having lots of free time. But not the past few years. It was hectic! The workload eased after the team has more members and some of the work has been distributed to others. Now I have more time to myself to do other things...

Hmm....What will I do with this free time? More blogging time? Maybe. What else? Reading. I can't live without books. Every where I go, I must have books. Either physical book or soft copy, it doesn't matter. As long as I can read. But don't give me journal or technical document. I won't read that!

Two years ago, I bought this book, the Doctor in the House for my hubby. A very thick book and frankly speaking, I haven't read any single page of it. But I hope, really hope that one day, I will read it.

Oh yeah...will I be running out of book? I don't think so. Because this itchy hand will always find a way to surf the online shopping and click the add to cart. Two days ago, I bought 5 more books, and in total, I have around 20 books that I haven't read.

I don't know which one I preferred. Physical book or ebooks? I like the smell of the new books, and it is my dream to have a book store. Only a dream, OK! but problem is storage.

Storing my books is always an issue. I guess I need to have a dedicated bookshelf for me.. Yeah!!! Oooppss where will I put this bookshelf. Most of the space in my house has been taken. Argghhhh...Problem...

So a mixture of ebooks and pyhsical books will be better... but of late, I seldom read my ebooks. My kids always hijacked my iPad, and by the time I get my iPad back is when the battery runs out. Another problem right....

Anyway whatever it is, I still have something to reads, and I can run to the wonderful world of fictions...

No matter what...

Haha..not sure what's got into me. I'm updating both blogs on the same day. It must be a miserable day that I have today. It's too early in the morning for me to feel this way, but hey.. this feeling has been there for months. It was dormant, and this morning, it was really strong until I have to ponder what I want to do in my life.

Well , the only think that keep me firmly on what I'm doing today are my kids. They are the one keeping me slogging through my life. Well... mother loves never know boundaries right. No matter how tired I am, when one of my kids asked for help, I would not hesitate.

That's what happened last night. I reached home around 8pm after on the road for more than an hour. Thanks to the traffic jam. When I got home, my brother in law and his wife were there. They came over to visit my sick mother in law and also to discuss something with my husband. I let them talk and discuss their family affairs. No interference from me.

I thought I could rest for a while, but Syafiq came and asked me to help him with the C++ Programming. He has his exam this morning at 8am. Good luck son. He has some problem with understanding some of the C++ terms. Being a mother and also I know the topic, I sat down with him. Yeah...at that time I was still not having my shower or my dinner. No matter how tired I am, I still helped him.

From helping him, we moved to discuss music. I saw his playlists, and he introduced me to some of his favorite singers, which are not popular at all. After that, he went and played The River Flows in You on the piano. It made me relax as that is one of my favorite song.

After he left, I have other tasked, which my kids think that only me can do it. Not even their dad. Do you know what? It checking the text books, taping what ever need to be taped and wrapped it. Haiyahhh... at that time I was still not having my shower.

Hmm...by the time that I can really chill down and enjoy my reading, it was almost 11.30pm. But I'm grateful and thankful to Allah for giving me four lovely kids who occasionally drives me crazy with their antics. They are my world no matter what they do....

Kids, Books and Reading Habit

Salam.

Once upon a time, when they were young

It has been very quiet here. Well, I have been busy updating my other blog.. my malay blog. Lately, I found it difficult to write in English. Not sure what caused it, but my instinct says that I have been reading too many Malay novels, and my thinking is now mainly in Malay. It used to be in English. Hah! I need to train my brain to think in both languages simultaneously. Can I? Inshaallah boleh…

Well, of late I have been reading again. At one time, I was kind of lost interest in reading, but Alhamdulillah I found the joy of reading again. Sometimes, I feel that I spend too much time on reading; staying late night just to finish the books. But, it was worth every minute.

I try to instil the same reading habit with my kids. Do they have the same passion as me? Aaahh… let start with my youngest.

Zaara or I call her my Drama Queen. I read to her every night before she goes to sleep. That was before she knows how to read. Most of the time, I enjoy our time together. It is bonding time between mum and daughter. But, there were times I just want her to go to bed without me reading her anything.

She will also dictate what story or book to read and when we were out of books or stories, she will force me to come out with my own stories.

Now she can read on her own, it eases me a lot. Just like me, she will have her book next to her bed. I will be sitting next to her bed with my book and she with her book. She will read two to four pages before saying goodnight. I really enjoy the moment.

Zaki a.k.a the drummer boy or the joker. He doesn’t read all the time like Drama Queen, but whenever he has a new book, he will finish it up within a day or two. Until I buy him another book, he would spend his time practicing his air drum. Yup, this boy is going through his rock music phase. Two years ago, it was KPOP and today it is Avenged Sevenfold. With his drumsticks and iPad, he will bang my sofa to the beat of the Avenged Sevenfold song until I ask him to stop.

Amir a.k.a the engine boy or the serious one. He likes anything to do with engines. He can spend hours looking at youtube on plane, train and cars. The engine boy likes to read. He loves to read mystery and thriller books, and every week he asks me to buy a book for him. Did I get it for him all the time? Nope or else I will be broke. But, whenever he didn't have new books, he will asked for my book. Haha… I can’t share my books with him yet. It is too early for him to read my kind of book.

Syafiq a.k.a the big brother or the musician. Oh… this one, I have tried to get him to read since young, but suffice to say he is not a reader. He is like the drummer boy, into music. Not to say he didn’t read at all. He does but depends on the book. He likes inspirational book and autobiography. Other than that, I didn’t see him read much. Most of his time is spent playing his guitar or fiddling with the piano.

What about my dear hubby? Well, he reads the newspaper and magazines only. No fiction for him. Sometimes I told him to be creative and read fictions. He is my point of reference for my grammar, and my English teacher.

So, what is the best book that I have read? Obviously, it is the Al-Quran. No doubt about it.

Ohh!!! My blog has been sleeping. Time to wake up, ya! Wakey, wakey, wakey wake up! That was how my late father used to wake us up in the morning. Oh how I miss my abah. It has been 2 years plus since he left us to meet his maker. Al fatihah untuk abah dan semoga rohnya berada bersama orang-orang yang beriman.

Well, my blog has been silent for few weeks. Not dead, but just gathering dust. The owner has been missing. Not lack of an idea, but too lazy to think what to write. What an excuse!

Well, actually I was quite tied up, not with work but reading. I spent most of my time lately reading and watching those dramas and listening to music. It helps to keep me calm and takes me away from the reality. Escapism!

Well, I’m going through the phase in my life where my priority is no more on work. I guess, I have reached my peak in my career eight years ago where any challenges thrown to me, I would take it and deliver it. But now, I only look forward to the day where I can retire, and be a full time housewife. Hmmm…will I? Only time will tell!

Of late, I feel like a robot. Do thing automatically, step by step. It is as if I have been programmed like a robot, without much thinking needed. I feel like there is not many challenges. Heh…maybe the only challenge is handling my kids who at times can be very demanding.

When I looked back, it is kind of frustrating. The desires are there, but there is no more energy left. What can I say, except the body has been abused for years, and now it screaming for help?

Yeah… maybe it is crying for help. It screams, “ Rest and recharge me, mentally and spiritually.” Well, I did hear the scream, and as before, I turned myself to the Almighty HIM. HE will not abandon me. Pray read Quran and rest. That’s what I do. It is the best way for me to recharge spiritually and mentally, and hope I can bring the shine in me… InsyaAllah.

I found a new love!

I can’t leave my blog full of dust again. So here is an update from me. Well, I stopped updating my blog for almost a year, and at the same time, I slowly lost interest in reading English novels. It took me quite a long time to finish one book, and I feel I did an injustice to some of the book which I knew were great. How do I know they were great books? Well most of the reviews on the book were positive.

In May this year, I totally stopped reading English novel. I tried to read, but I couldn’t connect with the stories. So I decided to stop. The last English novel book that I read was the Number Four science fiction series. The rest of my books has been sitting nicely, not in my cabinet but in my iPad and my phone. They are waiting for me to continue to read them again. Heh… I think I have more than 20 books in my TBR (To Be Read) list.

Since I stopped reading, I have become restless. I was like someone who lost her love one, yearning for the love, and was looking for the love that can fill the gap. I searched for the ‘missing one’, and I found it. It was in the form of Malay novel. I have never read any Malay novel before this, but it never too late, right?

Well, I didn’t fall in love with Malay novel immediately. My friend, Ms. Julia is an ardent fan of Malay novel. One day, I saw a book on her table and my curiosity was piqued. I stood next to her and picked the book and did a quick scanned on the title and the synopsis at the back. ‘Jue, can you recommend me one book that might generate my interest in Malay novel?’
The next day she gave me the first book, and I read it but didn’t really like it. In fact, I couldn’t remember the title of the book. The only thing I could remember was that the book has an interfering mother-in-law who didn’t like the daughter-in-law. She continued to give me few more books, and I still didn’t like it until she gave me the book by Hanina Abdullah, ‘Projek Memikat Suami’. After I have finished reading the book, my comment was not bad. That was my first positive comment on Malay novel.

After PMS, the few books she gave me still could not generate my interest in Malay novel. Julia didn’t give up, and she found the book that has captured my interest. She gave me Evelyn Rose’s book ‘The Wedding Breaker’. The book blew me off. I read it twice. And with a heavy heart I returned the book to Julia. I told her and Emma that the book was good and different than what I have read before.

The next few books that I read didn’t match the ‘TWB’ standard. I continued to search and started to surf and look for any book that would interest me. I found the www.penulisan2u.com website that listed out some of the popular Malay novels. (I might be wrong as there are lots of novels listed in there). I scanned through the list and read through some of the chapters that were shared on the websites.

After few days of searching and reading through the few chapters, I found the book that interests me. It was by Melur Jelita. The title is ‘I love You, Stupid’. Okay, I found the book, but I have a problem to purchase the book. I have to go to MPH as the bookstore near my house didn’t have the book. Furthermore, I have some mobility problem.

So, who else can help me? Yup, it was no other than my loyal book supplier, Ms. Julia. I asked her whether she could get me the book, and she was more than happy to help and get it for me. I was a very happy woman thinking that I would be getting my book the next day, bu I was disappointed. No ‘ILUS’ as it was not available at the near bookstore near our office, but as a consolation, she bought me the ‘My Precious Iris’ the sequel to ILUS.

I tried to read MyPI, but I still found it difficult as I couldn’t connect with the story. So my itchy finger started to surf the internet again, and happily made the online order. When the book arrived, I was very happy. It was as if, I found my love one. I dropped whatever I was doing, and started my escape with ILUS. I carried it around and read whenever I have time including when I was in the office. The book, ILUS didn’t disappoint me. The plot and the story was superb. Was I disappointed with 'My Precious Iris'. No, I didn't.

After I have finished reading these two books, I was again like someone who didn’t get her doses of drugs. I was restless. Whatever books that I read didn’t match the three books that I have set the standard. Then Evelyn Rose second book ’13 Jam A380’ came out, but I didn’t rush to buy it. I waited and read the feedback by those who have read. All were positive. Again my itchy finger went online and ordered from Karya Seni.

Huh!…the next day, I was sick and was admitted to hospital. I was hoping that I would get my book when I was in hospital, but I didn’t. In fact, the book has not arrived after I was discharged from the hospital.. Haha… I cannot wait anymore. I made a quick dash to the bookstore even though, I have not fully recovered. Hah, I found the book and did a quick happy dance in the bookstore. Luckily no one was there. I snapped it, took home with me and quickly read it. I finally got my fixed of drugs. I was satisfied. Fully satisfied! The book was totally different from the standard lovey-dovey story books. It contains a lot of reference to Quranic verses and hadith. Eve has indirectly ‘berdakwah’ in this book.

Ahh….. now I need a new fix! If anyone can recommend me a book which can fix my craving for the good novels, please let me know. I think I might found one or two new books, but whether it can match the four books, it is yet to be seen. Only time will tell. Meantime, I hope Melur Jelita and Evelyn Rose will continue to produce the high quality stories, but please don’t take too long. I can’t go too long without my cocaine.

Catching Up!

Selamat Hari Raya! Eid Mubarak. Today is the 18^th day of Syawal, and people are still busy celebrating the Raya, attending the open houses, For me, I have been celebrating my Raya in hospital. Not exactly from the first day, but I was in the hospital on the 9^th day of Syawal.

Actually, there was a planned reunion for my UWEC mates that weekend, but on Thursday night, I was down with high fever and on Friday I was admitted to hospital. I was down with bacterial infection. Heh! I was admitted for four days and was discharged on Tuesday, the following week and I was further given MC until Friday.

I love it! Really do! I got to catch up on my sleeps and also de-stressed myself. It also gave me the opportunity to spend time with my kids. But what I love most was that I had lots of ‘me time’. The kids went to school in the afternoon, so basically from 1pm till 6.30pm I was totally on my own.

Haha…. I was totally selfish with my time. I spent most of my time with reading. Hehehe… I finished reading about 4 Malay novels in the hospital and mind you, they are very thick. Three of the authors are now becomes my favourite authors.

Hmm..... I need to read more Malay novels so that I would have more favourite authors. It should be balance with list of the English authors that I have, but in order to do that I need to find a real good websites that do all the reviews. Any ideas where I can find these websites? Without any referral sites, it will be difficult for me to buy a good book.

Okay, enough about my ‘me time’ and books. On Monday I’ll be going back to work. I really hope Mr. Monday will be kind to me. No traffic jams, no urgent mails, no major issues and no stress. Hehe…. Dream on, Zai, dream on!!!!…. Yeah! I can dream, right? No one can stop me from dreaming… Dream Zai dream, and one fine day you will get what you dream for.

Lonely

After so many weeks, I finally get a chance to write. Not that, I don't have time, but I was too tired, mentally and physically. My day job is very demanding lately. Thanks to someone who wanted to look good by his boss, and drives everyone nuts. Forget about him. He's not worth to write about.

After been in pain for almost two years, my back pain has improved tremendously. I changed doctor middle of this year, and he recommended me to do Physio. That's what I have been doing every Saturday. From needing a walking stick and knee guard to help me move around, I can now walk around without needing any of it. That's a big achievement to me. My next step is to start my exercise again. I have been thinking going to gym to start a low impact exercise. Let see whether it going to happen.

My little girl has also completed her pre-school, and I'm not sure how much she has learned from the school. She has gone through three different types of teaching methods as each kindergarten introduced its own methods. The most successful method was when she was in Little TOTs, and the worst was last year where it was a battle to get her to school.

Next week, she will be registering for her standard one and she will be sitting for her entrance exam. I just hope she will do well and not be placed in the special class. This special class is for those who cannot read and write. Since the school holidays, every night she will sit down and read at least few lines from her books while the brothers will play and teach her about maths and science.

Oh I also have two good news. First, I received a Parent of the Year award from my little girl school. I was selected based on my involvement with my girls school activities and development. I was given a present, and I have to go up to the stage to give a speech in English. Hah! My two boys who were supposed to take my photo refused to take my picture. Instead, they were busy staring at the floor and closing their ears. They were embarrassed. I can only shake my head.

The other good news was, my second son got a good result from his UPSR. Not fantastic, but beyond our expectation. It was really a last minute studies for him, and I spent every minute of my free time sitting with him, and go through revision with him. Alhamdulillah for what he got and his teacher was also shocked to see his result. He also was shocked when his name was called up to receive present from his school. Hope that he will change his study habit after this.

I found it again!

I lost interest in reading for a few months and only lately I started to enjoy reading again. I have finished four books in three weeks, and now I'm into a fifth book.

The book that brought back my appetite to read was by Jo Bourne. It is a romance book, which I found very interesting story. It is a spy story during Napoleon Bonaparte ruling. When I read the book, I could still remember how Napoleon's looked based on my form two's history book. It was a well written story, and Jo Bourne won one of RITA's awards for this book.

Once I finished, I started to look at my TBR and nothing really caught my fancy until I saw the Pittacus Lore's the "Lost Legacy" books and remembered that his latest book was out in September. I purchased my book from Kobo and downloaded it on my iPad.

Well, if you watch the movie on HBO, "I AM NO FOUR", the book that I read was about No. 9. If you have not read or watch the movie, it was about 10 alien kids that were sent down to earth together with their Cepan (guardian). Each of them was blessed with certain gifts, and their aim is to free their world from Mongodorian. The Mongodorians were send down to earth to search for the kids and kill them to earth. The Mongodorian were smart and they make friends with the world government. They have their own objective. To kill those kids, and conquer earth and destroy earth as what they have done to Lorien, the kids planet.So it was up to those kids to fight the Mongodorion.

I love the Lost Legacy books. It was full of action, and in this book, they have found all the members, except No. 5. I guess No. 5 would be the next Pittacus Lore book and the showdown between them and the enemy.

After I had finished the Rise of Nine, I downloaded another Pittacus Lore's book. It was about the lost legacy, that is No 1, No 2 and No 3. If the other books were from the kids' point of view, this book was from Adam, the son of the Mongodorian boss. He told the story how those three met with their death, and No 1 was killed in Sarawak. To be specific, it was somewhere near the Rajang's river.

My appetite for reading continues and while browsing through my ebooks library, I saw that I have not started on the Hunger Games,by Suzanne Collins. I have seen the movie so I kind of know the story line, but I didn't expect that I would be very engrossed with it, I stayed up until past midnight to finish the book. It was really a good book and another well written book. After I had finished with the book, I was contemplating to buy her next two books, but the price is a little bit high for an e book. I think I will wait for a while before I buy the Catching Fire and Mockingjay.

To appease my reading appetite, I am currently reading "Close Enough to Touch" by Victoria Dahl. I know she will be able to keep me engross just like all her books before this.

Open House, Food and Jam

It is not too late to wish 'Selamat Hari Raya'. We are into the third week of Syawal, and everyone is back to normal. Busy with works, kids, schools and also Open houses.

Phew! Open house. I had few invitations last Saturday, and one of it was from Bang Ngah who lives in Ampang. He only did it for families and some close friends.

Since we have to drive to Ampang, we anticipated some traffic jam, but it was beyond our expectation. The traffic jam was really bad. It took us 2 hours to reach his places.

Initially, the traffic was okay until we reached Sg Besi Tol. The jam started before the tol, and it looked like a big parking place where the cars cannot move. It took us almost an hour to get out from Sg Besi to MRR2 exit, which was about 1KM from the tol booth.

We felt relief to be out from the situation, but it was a short while. The crawling started again after a few kilometer, and the traffic jam was all the way until two kilometers before we reach Ampang exit.

Since Ampang is a Malay area, we anticipated another jam when we reached Jalan Ampang towards Kg Melayu. True enough! When we reached in front of Ampang Point, there was another crawl, and it was made worse by few traffic lights there.

By the time we reach bang Ngah place, it was almost 5pm, and when we reached there, there were only Along, Anet and my mom. The rests of the clan have not arrived yet. All were stuck in the traffic jam.

All the hassle to reach Ampang was rewarded with good foods. There was lemang, rending, mee kari, satay and other cookies and of course, chatting with my sisters and mom. Well, the happiest bunch was the kids who were busy playing outsides, and they forgot to eat.

I have to leave earlier since I have the air condition man coming to fix my air condition, and I left right after my niece arrived. She was also stuck for more than 2 hours.

Since the traffic towards the road leading to Bangi was very bad, my husband took a different route. He used the Hulu Langat road to get us to Kajang and then to Bangi. I was excited because I never use this route before.

The drive back was very smooth since there was no traffic jam. The route was much longer, but we saved at least 1 hour from the traffic jam. By the time we reached home, it was almost Maghrib, and the kids were getting hungry.

After the prayer, we went out for dinner, and also to send some food to Syafiq, who was busy study for his exams in Uniten. Well! Is there going to be another nightmare this weekend? I know open house is still happening this weekend because I do get an invitation to Open house.

Free Vacation, Grandpa and Swollen

This is my second night in the hospital. Very quiet. TV was off, and the only sound heard was from iPad. Hmmm.. iPad got keyboard, meh? It was from my bluetooth keyboard.

The kids were at home. I told hubby not to bring them to see me. Last time they were here, they missed their school bus and get a free holiday. So it was only my hubby who visited me, but he was here for a short while only to bring some foods and my laptop.

Well since, my fever was also has gone now, I can at least do some work while waiting for the swollen and pain to go away. You may wonder what happened to me. Actually, hmm.... I also don't know what happened and how it happened. I only know that I had a very high fever, and a red, swollen, painful, left leg. What caused it, only Allah knows. Okay, lets trace back how it happened.

It was on Sunday afternoon, and I was lying on the couch playing with my iPad. It was one of the occasions where I can get hold of my iPad. I was reading Hunger Games when suddenly, I felt very cold. I was shivering uncontrollably, and Amir quickly ran upstairs to bring the comforter down.

I thought it would go away, but I was wrong. The shivering was getting stronger and stronger, and my body was getting hotter. My hubby asked me to take some medicine, but I was adamant to continue to fast. I was drifting in and out of sleep on the couch, and Zara and Zaki were busy to keep me warm. Now and then, someone will come and touch my forehead. I heard them said, " Makin panas."

I don't know how long i was in that condition before I asked for water. My mouth was so dry, and body started to ache all over. My hubby wanted to take me to the hospital, but I told him to break his fast first.

We went after Maghrib, and when I reached the hospital emergency room, it was almost empty. The few people who were there was actually busy watching the Olympic final game between Lin Dan and Datuk Lee Chong Wei. I tried to watch too, but I couldn't open my eyes.

I don't have to wait too long before I was called in. The doctor was polite, and after checking, he didn't find anything unusual. So they took my blood and urine for test. First result came back, my white cell is high, and it show some infection. Since there is nothing significant that can be pointed out to be the case of my illness, his first thought was my throat as I have slight cough. So, he gave me PCM and some antibiotic and to comeback after three days if my fever didn't come down. Oh!! He gave me the most important document, the MC for one day.

Since I didn't eat anything since sahur, hubby took me and Zara to Islamic Kitchen. Actually it was him that wanted to eat than me or Zara. I told him to call me once the food arrived while I continued to sleep in the car. Not long after he left, he knocked on the car window. Slowly and sleepily, I walked to the restaurant. Both of them ate, but I only had two glasses of cold drinks, and I also took my medicines. After the first one hour, I felt good already. Since I had lots of sleep during the day time, I couldn't sleep, so I decided to watch the London Olympics. Half way through it was the TV watching me. I switched off the TV, got up and went to my room. By this time, I was sweating, and my t-shirt was damped.

Throughout the night, I felt hot and cold; drifting in and out of sleep. On Monday, my condition didn't change, and in the afternoon, my left leg started to get swollen and red. It was also hot and painful when touched.

On Tuesday morning, my fever was still the same, and the redness has spread up. My hubby was worried and took me to hospital again. Furthermore, I need the precious certificate, else I would be in trouble for not showing up to work, and especially I have a presentation to management.

When the doctor saw my leg and my condition, she decided to give me a free vacation with free room and food, but hey, it was no free vacation, okay?

Every five or six hours, someone would come to take my blood pressure, temperature, heartbeat, etc. And another would come to give me a shot of antibiotic. Then another one to clean the room, food la..and so many other things. But they are all very polite and courteous, and they are doing their job to take care of me, right?

Well since, I was alone tonight, I had a lovely chat with my friend BP. We were talking about how she needs to go for holidays. Yeah, she will be leaving the account in a few days, and going back to her company. I'm going to miss her. When time permits, we would go out lunch together where we traded stories about our kids and family. Well, we can always chats on Whatsapp, but it won't be the same as in person.

Talking about Whatsapp, few days ago she sent me the picture above via Whatsapp. We nickname that picture, Grandpa. She went to Koh Samui earlier this year for her nephew's wedding, and she managed to take the picture of grandma and grandpa. At first, I thought it was a real grandma and grandpa, but when I saw what it was, I burst laughing.

What do you think? Don't you want to go and visit the grandpa and grandma at Koh Samui? If you can afford, why not? It might be an experience that you will never forget. Just like my friend, BP.

Okay time to go. Nurse would come around soon and it past midnight. See you...
