CRAZY BJJ KIDS ARE BACK

The CJJA held its first kids class of the year with a great turn out of around 15 Crazy BJJ Kids hitting the mat and having a ball. stretches, warmups, drills and free training all i9n a fun and safe environment.
we really focus on the kids movement development at the younger age so they are working hard and getting the fitness they need, the fact is kids love jiu jitsu there is no striking so you can be sure there not learning to solve there problems with a strike (punch or kick) also we teach jiu jitsu in a non violent and controlled way, playing games and leting the kids have a heap of fun at the same time.

MORNING CLASS A HIT

The morning class has been going off lately with good numbers and all hitting that mat at CJJA from 6:30am to 7:30am, iv really seen a huge improvement in the guys coming to the morning class as they get the extra hour in every session and with the smaller classes we really get to work on our understanding and push our level. the class might sound fast at only one hour but in that time we train a lot we start with a quick jiu jitsu related warm up them work drills and free roll rounds so in the hour you will be doing around 40 min real time rolling.
If you get a chance to come in and check out a class please do so its worth the early morning rise.

NEW CJJA BELTS

At the CJJA we give all new members there first (white) belt free along with there back patch and a sticker, we dont make you pay for any gradings or any of your belts as you go through them on your jiu jitsu quest. We find it silly to see you put so much blood, sweet and tears time into the academy to then make you pay for you reward (Greading and Belt)

so we dont and there free every time you grade up.

If you do already have a belt and would like to get a new one then there $5 each.

Well it ended up being me and Kain that took the trip to tazy on the weekend and i think its safe to say we had a blast, we took off friday night and landed an hour later took a short trip to Big Jims place and headed to bed. the next day we headded to the Academy for an open mat roll with the guys and a bit of a chatch up, also it was great to see Troy from CJJA Geelong on the mat also as he was on a holiday, Was a blast and all had a great time.
The next day saw 4 academys come to the devil pit (CJJA Tazy) for a refs course on the new IFBJJ rules and a chat about the Tazy federation (Running Independent of the AFBJJ).
The Federation of Tazy has been holding the best and biggest comps in Tazy for some time now.
all up it was a great weekend and we cant wait to take more guys down for some more inter academy training.

This friday me and my good friend Thiago will be heading to Tazy to hold a refs seminar will be doing some training and enjoying the tazy life then heading home sunday night.

BACK ON THE MAT IN GEELONG

Well after a month in Chile training and spending time my family I was happy to be back on the mat in Geelong and to see all the crew again, with it being so hot (40c) we just did a light warm up with a few rounds and some free training.
Im like to say a huge thanx to all the people that opened the academy and looked after everything while i was away also thanx for training hard everyone i can see your all been putting the hard time in great work. Its great to be back and see everyone lets train hard for "012 and enjoy jiu jitsu.

Hey all been of line for a while as me, Pepa and lola took a short trip from VINA DEL MAR to SANTIAGO from there we went into the Andys as you can see in the pic. we spent 3 days in SANTIAGO witch is a 2 hour bus trip from VINA. Happy to be back in VINA now ill train jiu jitsu tonight so i cant wait. we are having a great time hope you are also, cant wait to see you guys and hit the mat next year.

The CJJA crew at the MG comp on the weekend, Great work guys im happy to be training with such great people. james great effort for your first comp as a purple belt (after only one week) James came home with the Gold. also jeremy has been showing a very good level and understanding on the mat at the CJJA and now it showing in the comps going to be a good year. lets keep training hard guys and well done from me and the whole CJJA team.

Yellow Belts at CJJA

The night before i left to go to Chile was a happy one as i was able to grade 6 of my teen students to yellow belt all the guys had been training hard and showing improvements in there understanding and training,the guys range in age from 12 to 15 years and have all been training in the Adults class from day one of there training.

On the night of the grading the guys had to do a 30 min free roll with the adult students, this pushed them to the limits as I told the adults not to take it light on the guys and go for them the whole time but they got through it and ended up with the new belts.

Well done guys and keep up the great work in 2012.

DC TRAINING IN CHILE

Hey all,
Im posting this from Vina Del Mar - Chile, iv been here around 4 days now and on the 2nd day i was happy as i got to train at a great academy called COHAB JIU JITSU (Vina del mar), COHAB VINA is an affiliated academy under the COHAB JIU JITSU banner from the Brazil.
COHAB its self is the name of the poorest "Favela" (Brazilian Slum) in Sao Paulo.
The Instructor of the COHAB (brazil) is the world champion Sergio Moraes with is also the instructor of Brown belt that runs the academy in Vina del mar.

The academy in Vina is on the 2nd floor of an old building, behind a large shopping area, on my first session there was around 10 guys rolling from brown to white. the academy is tiny but works. it was around 4 mats wide and about 10 mats long (all you need to have a nice roll).
on the walls there are many championship meadls hanging witch made me feel i was in the right place.
All the guys trained hard and the session went for around 1.5 hours, that night we did a quick walm up then 8 min free roll rounds. i rolled around 5 times i think, with a new person every time.
the guys were great and some could talk english witch was good. i cant wait to go back on monday.

Id just like to say THANK YOU to all the students that have supported our team over the past year.
some of you have been around a while and some have just joined us over the past few month but one thing is for sure WE ARE ALL ONE FAMILY.
Its been great to see the level of jiu jitsu growing and evolving and i believe we as an academy are pushing forward as the leaders in this area, other academy's are focused on comp others on self defense or MMA but at the CJJA we have shown a huge focus on the technical side of the art and as a result of our students pushing this technical level every day we have seen great results in comps held through out the year.
our jiu jitsu family grows every year and I'm so proud to see the higher level students embrace the new students and try to help them improve the game, this is what jiu jitsu is all about, learning and teaching!!!!
I'm leaving on Tuesday to go to Chile for one month all classes at the CJJA will still run, I know you will all train hard as its in the blood of the academy to do so. I'm sad i don't get to spend the last part of the year with you guys but I'm looking forward to coming back and getting stuck into some hard training.
We have a great team some new belts this year which puts some nice color in the academy, We have some great people that are training for all the write reasons, we have very little ego in the academy and all are hungry to learn more every session, we compete to win but when we win we are humble, the same when we lose this shows a great trait of mutuality, we are a family and we grow together, we are a young team but we are strong and our standers are high. lets keep this all going guys we all have one thing in common WE LOVE JIU JITSU and on the mat we are all equal.

Thanx for a great year its been one ill never forget, Im so proud of you all and have huge respect for you all, your all my team, Students, training partners, teaches (in jiu jitsu and life), family and blood.
What i see for us at the CJJA is huge things , forward growth on the mat and in the level of the art.

Has been going off as of late with huge numbers of kids on the mat all training up a storm and loving the art of Jiu Jitsu.

The kids had there grading last night and it was a huge event with many kids going up to the next level.

Jiu jitsu in Taz is growing every week and for BJJ TAZ / CJJA this cound not be forther from the truth.

After opening there own academy this year thay have see hugen growth in numbers.

Tonight was a great night at the CJJA Geelong I was happy to grade two very close mate up to purple both guys have been long time mates and training partners of mine and both have a great out look on Jiu Jitsu and life. HUGE well done to you both and thanx for making our team better every time you step on the mats. CJJA growing and evolving always!

CJJA - Grading brake down

Tonight the guys that graded had to train nonstop for 1.5 hours

at the start of the time they get 100 points to there name.

every time the guys tap they lose 5 points

if they drop lower then 50 points then they have to do there grading again.

after the 1.5 hour roll we grade the guys up

we give the belt then line all the students up in two lines and whip them with our belts as a sign of respect.

after we line up again and shake hands with one another to unit the CJJA family.

in CJJA gradings we all go throught it together as we are a jiu jitsu family and stand as one.

The gradings evolve around timed rounds of super hard training

as our academy is all about training hard so our gradings are the same.
