Happy Housewarming To Me

There's something about receiving a cute printed invitation - as opposed to a Facebook invite or group text... kids these days. Also, any invitation involving glitter is a-okay in my book. Actually, perusing the Tiny Prints website made me want to have a couple summer parties. (This one inspired the paper lanterns in my post, and this one would be perfect for a late night soiree.) Besides wanting to order cute invitations, I just need a reason to wear some fun summer outfits. Thanks, NastyGal.

I love candles. What's better than a stressful day at work, heading to the store to smell all the candles, then bringing one home and lighting it immediately? Nothing, I tell you, nothing. I started out addicted to Bath and Body Works candles. 2 for $22 and they smell the whole house? Then I started branching out. Now I need your help to discover new scents!

Top 5 Tuesday: Candles by rachelrx on Polyvore

1. Capri Blue Volcano: Ever wonder why Anthropologie smells so good? This. I love the simplicity of the jar and the scent is to die for.
2. Slatkin & Co Creamy Pumpkin: This and the Pumpkin Patch smell are my favorites for fall. They smell so warm and comforting.
3. Tyler Candles High Maintenance: Hands down my favorite candle ever. It's hard to describe what it smells like (the name doesn't help...), but it's a mixture of vanilla, musk, and sweetness. You will love this I promise. They last for such a long time and are the perfect strength of scent. I have two, which I bought within the same week.
4. Voluspa Bella Sucre: Mostly I just love the jar of this one. But it smells sweet and girly which doesn't hurt either. And it's on sale at Bloomingdale's right now!
5. Slatkin & Co 'Tis The Season: I always have this scent in my car, and I have about 3 backup candles in case B&BW decides not to make it again this season. It's my favorite winter scent, but I like to light it year round! It smells like cinnamon and fireplaces. And Christmas.

Hey, remember me? Well I'm back. Now that I'm all moved into my apartment, I have been inspired to start blogging again! And who doesn't love home decor posts? Also, expect many more outfit posts.

Eileen Fisher Fashion Show Recap

Yesterday I was invited to an Eileen Fisher fashion show at Bloomingdale's. I was so lucky to have the day off so I could attend and I am so glad I did. Here is a Vine, since photos just didn't work too well.

Did you notice that awesome citrine jacket? Yea, I fell in love with that. I've been looking for a similar coat, found one at Madewell for over $300, was disappointed, then found this. Yea, this one is still expensive, but the great thing is... I won a $500 giveaway at the show! I never win anything. This is a big deal. So what did I get? The jacket. Of course. And these spring basics:

Eileen Fisher had so many great basics. Flowy, boxy tanks and tees, comfy maxi skirts, and lightweight sweaters. Most of the items were neutrals, so you can wear them all of the time with whatever you own. I loved that! And layering worked so well. Although I may not be the average Eileen Fisher demographic, so many pieces would work well with my wardrobe.

Another great part of the show was that 10% of the proceeds of Eileen Fisher sales post-show went to an awesome charity, Create Your Dreams. I am very interested in working with this charity in the future. They help kids in underserved areas of Atlanta get the education, love, and development they need to continue with school and lead a happy life. 100% of the children they have helped have graduated from high school and 93% went on to college. That is SO awesome! Check them out.

The Giving Keys: Newly discovered through Instagram, I am obsessed with The Giving Keys. Each vintage key has an inspirational word stamped into it - dream, love, grateful (my personal favorite). The premise behind these keys is that when you come across someone in your life who you think needs that message, you give it to them and then write to the company and tell them the story about why you gave it away. The company also helps employ the homeless. I can't wait to order one.

Krochet Kids: I found out about this company because we carry the line at our store. Krochet Kids teaches women in Uganda & Peru the basic skills they need to make money to support their families through crocheting. They also give them education and mentorship for a happy, healthy life. The women sign their names on the inside of the hats and you can follow their stories online!

TOMS: I think we have all heard of the TOMS One for One mission. I am just really loving these leopard Botas we just got at the store.

Alex & Ani: Another of my wardrobe staples/favorites. Alex & Ani's Charity by Design partnerships give percentages of sales of individual bangles to different designated charities. The Today is an Opportunity bangle gives to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and the Best Friends (set of) bangles give to the American Heart Association. I can't say enough great things about this company and wouldn't mind owning every single available bracelet.

I love being comfortable. Rarely do I wear anything that I couldn't take a nap in. (That's serious.) So now that palazzo pants are the "in" thing, I feel like I must have a pair. Being able to wear pajamas to work is the icing on the cake. Now to wait until Forever 21 makes a cute, affordable pair. What do you think about them? Too casual or too cute?

Goodies Co. Subscription Box Review

My very first (paid) subscription box experience. Of course it's going to involve food. Goodies Co. is a little (but actually kind of large) monthly taster's box. Right now, you can lock in your subscription at a $7 per month price.

Each month, Goodies Co. has a theme to the Taster's Box. This month (February) had a "Better Together" theme which was supposed to play off of Valentine's day. I thought the idea for the box was super cute and creative, but I'm not sure how all of the foods fit into that theme. Chocolate & peanut butter makes sense.. but a Banana bar?

Snacks inside my box: SnackWell Yogurt Pretzels, Cheddar Bacon Popcorn, Plentils Margherita Pizza Chips, Reese's Chips Ahoy, Wai Lana Banana Bar, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter.

I haven't tried all of the items yet, but I had to try the banana bar first. I've never heard of Wai Lana and love banana bread so I thought that'd be a great choice. It tastes a lot like a Lara bar. I'm excited to try the Peanut Butter & Co PB, but I'm probably going to pass on the Cheddar Bacon popcorn. Not my thing. The other snacks I'll try, but I probably wouldn't ever choose to buy while grocery shopping.

All in all, I love the box. For $7, I think you get a good array of items and a good amount of foods. I wish they were less accessible items, or brand new brands/snacks. Only half of the items I had never heard of prior to receiving my box. I'm looking forward to March's box and hope that it's even better!

Boostcase for the iPhone: This hot pink case comes with an attachable accessory (sold separately) that keeps your phone charged at all times. I sure needed that at the conference!

iPhone amplifier: For those times when you just need to rock out on the go. Like while doing your makeup in a hotel room or playing the latest singing puppy video at a party.

Twistband hairties: These hairties are a must in my life. Loving the tie-dye patterns.

GHD hairbrush: Jury is still out on this brush.. maybe it just doesn't work on thick hair? I so wanted to love it.

Tide pods: So much easier than pouring your detergent. Just pop and go.

Graphic Image day planners: Obsessed. Classy and cute, and keep me organized. I use the small one in my purse to keep me set on dates for work.

NYX Matte Bronzer: Love this stuff! Looks very natural.

bareMinerals Palettes: See picture below.

Diana Vreeland Documentary: We saw a preview of this documentary while at the conference and I can't wait to sit down and watch it.

The Natural High Blush: Much like Nars Orgasm. Shimmery rose blush.

The Top Shelf Palette: I use this daily. I'm so impressed with the quality of the shadow. It goes on smooth and bright. Not to mention, the colors are perfect. All of the other shadow duos were amazing colors too. I highly recommend.

Next Best Thing Palette: Loving these shimmery neutrals and bold shades together.

Birchbox: I was so excited to get this - my very first Birchbox! But I was honestly kind of disappointed. Maybe they threw the items together at the last minute, or they were leftovers from past boxes, but I don't see myself using any of these items in the future. Maybe the blush, but it's so small that it's hard to use. If I would have paid for this box, I probably wouldn't pay for it again. Should I try Birchbox again?

I just can't control my excitement. I'm going to IFB Con 2013! It has been far too long since I've been in New York City and the fact that I'm going to be there in less than 2 weeks is just crazy. I've already started my packing lists and I'm tempted to actually start packing, yet I feel like I'm just going to buy new clothes for the event anyways.

Big shoutout to Shelby at Glitter & Gingham for making plans with me, sharing expenses with me, and convincing me to go! I'm glad I won't be alone in the city. :)

Top 5 Tuesday: Must Have Lip Products

Maybelline Color Whisper in Lust for Blush: most recent lip purchase and I'm obsessed. It's like a tinted lip balm but with great color payoff and the perfect amount of shine. Also, it doesn't taste funny and it smells good too. Definitely going to try out the other colors.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey: I've loved every color I've tried in these, but Honey is my favorite. It really does leave a nice color to your lips that looks natural and stays on all day. Best layered with lip balm though, because it does dry your lips out a bit.

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Sugar Plum: Lip Butter is the perfect description for these creamy, glossy lipsticks. They are pretty sure, so the color is a few shades darker than my natural color.

Cocoa Butter Vaseline: I've been using vaseline on my lips since I was about 5 years old. I put this on before I go to sleep at night, especially when my lips are severely chapped. They're usually all fixed the next morning when I wake up.

EOS Lip Balm: This is always with me in my purse. Its not sticky, slick, or heavy and it smells great too. Not as moisturizing as my Vaseline, but does the trick for layering under lipsticks.
