Hello!!

Sorry for such long break! I moved to the Philippines! Will tell you all about this gorgeous place and the beauty industry here in another post. For now... This is what I did in my few weeks here.

One week ago, I hosted a makeup event that I am proud to say that 100% of the proceeds went to a young lady who is Physically and Financially challenged. For me, It was fun all round. I did everything that I enjoyed doing: Drank a glass of champagne, taught women of different ages who to look good for themselves and their loved ones, and donated to charity.

Here are some of the images from the event. This time was cozy, intimate (Eww, get your minds out the gutters!), and a good start of something that I hope to do more of, and hopefully make if bigger and bigger! There shall always be Alcohol... LOL! But most importantly, every person who attends will leave with a boost of self-confidence, and the ability to wear your own makeup. Every woman present on that day called (the next day) to ask what product I used, All the products I used in my demo, and my model (a 'no-makeup for me' beauty) now wears makeup. This is the power of customising an experience and makeup that suits an individual.

All in all... A successful event.

What I like about her makeup? It's Bold, yet fresh! There is always an element of innocence about her makeup. I'm sure that's not her aim, but that's what I see. Enjoy...

Cat Eyes Princess - This look is all about the eye! Everything else is minimal. I say, when you want to do soft... Pick 1 Element of Hard. :-)

Non-Alcoholic Champagne!- Brow focus. This look is essentially about bring your features forward! When you do this, give one feature a harder kick! In this case - The Brow!

Chilling with my girls. Self explanatory. Nothing fussy. Just your signature. Hint: Eyeliner.

He thinks I'm a good girl - He's Right. Maybe! Bring forward the innocence but don't be a plane jane. I particularly love this look because she is wearing the most beautiful accessory of all - Her Smile!

Affordable Celebrity Summer Glow: Bronzing Products That Works.

A tip i recommend is - Use with the 8- hour wear Face & Body Foundation in your desired shade, apply to the palms of your hands, and mix with MAC cosmetics Skin Sheen. The result will be a healthy glow, natural looking, long wearing application. Both products are water / sweat resistant so you wont have to worry about the Oops of the rain. I have used these products and tip on a few celebrities when I was in Sub-Sahara Africa and South Africa. Some returned to buy a bottle of their own.

Hair Tip: How to get rid of greasy hair roots.

Greasy roots? Here is a quick easy tip to fix it and not look like a character from "Lost". Hehe, happens to everyone from over spraying, to being in heat from the sun for too long, or that pomade that is just not right.

Grab a fluffy brush or your powder brush, dip it in your powder - I recommend MAC cosmetics Prep & Prime Translucent powder. This is my go-to power. It is unscented, doesn't leave colour (Don't go grey yet), and it's perfect for detexturising. Ok, dip it in your loose powder, and dap to remove excess. Run it along the greasy line - repeat until satisfied. Remember, don't go grey yet. A good, big, fluffy brush is great as the fluffier the brush, the less amount of product is deposits.

OKAY! So, I went to a bar few nights ago, and around the bar were ladies with great looking hair - Short hair, Long hair, Super long hair, but the scene was crowded with ladies with super long hair. I thought, I gotta ask, I gotta ask. Because I can be pretty shy around people and mostly just smile to smiley people (LOL). I was able to attract a "Very smiley face" and I thought YES! This is it.

I'm gonna call her 'Lady X' because I did not even ask for her name. Naughty ME!

I walked up to LadyX and her friends and wispered in a pretty high tone due to the loud music. This is how it went...

Radcollins: I LOVE your hair! How do you keep your hair looking So GOOD?

LadyX: Oh, you're so sweet! Its Beer!

We: both laughed, and I replied, Yea, the beer I know gives long belly.

LadyX: laughed and said, honey, I don't drink beer. I'm a cocktail girl. I condition my hair with Beer. I soak my hair in a cup of beer, I cover it up for about 15 minutes, and then rinse off. It works!

Radcollins: In surprise, I asked, - How did you find out about this tip? Surely you must smell like beer, which is a smell that guys appreciate in themselves only. LOL!

LadyX: A friend of mine taught me when I was in college, she replied- and I have kept this tradition ever since. PS: I did it before I left home tonight. Do I smell like beer? I said No, you smell like Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. Good nose! She said (Wink) I thanked her in my rather tipsy voice and hugged the very nice stranger and moved to my table.

When I arrived home I started my research and found on Women's Health Magazine that this is true. According the the article, Katherine Zeta Jones is also a doer of this.

Makeup Tip: How to Perfect the art of Highlighting and Contouring

Hello there.

2 hours ago about some of the challenges that costumers have expressed to me during my MAC cosmetics days. How clients struggle with highlighting and contouring. Many wanted to purchase highlighting pen (Prep & Prime Hightlighter) as well as Bronzer but were discouraged because they doubted their ability to achieve professional results. It was tough, but now, I want to help! So, Lets go through this quickly and effectively. :-)

1. Do not attempt the makeup artist technique. I can tell you this, ALL makeup artitsts have different methods of which they achieve a desired look.

2. Be patient. It takes time, but you will do it.

3. Your Bronzer shouldn't be as dark as the pretty lady on the left. See her face as a chart and direction. The amount of makeup that you apply will be completely up to you, and how you like to look. Not everyone want to look like Kim Kardashian (She is pretty, admittedly)

NOW, the Tips.

Go to a makeup counter and ask the Artist for highlighter that will boost your complexion and make your face stand out. Remember, baby steps. You do not want a Nicole Kidman Highlighter if you have an Oprah skin tone. Bronzer: The same commandment applies. You do not want Oprah's Contour (Bronzer) shade if you have Nicole Kidman skin tone. Close your eyes, and imagine the image. Sigh... Not good! Trust me, contouring and highlighting is like getting a tattoo... Your desire for more will increse but you have to start small.

- Pay attention to the brush. I suggest you ask the makeup artist to use a Recommended brush because makeup artists tend to use (Own favourites), and that makes things complicated for the client that is not a makeup professional. Then, thank the artist and walk around for a few minutes before you buy. DO NOT BE PRESSURED INTO INSTANT PURCHASE. Leave that to me... I am still paying the price. LOL! If you like what you see (even ask a makeup artist at a counter of similar or higher quality for their opinion. IF YOU LIKE), we makeup artists are usually blunt and egotistical... You can use that to your advantage :-), then get it... Go home, before going out... Practice. Even makeup artists "Practice and Wash" at home. Use the image above as "Placement guide".

Now its time for Blending...

I suggest you use the MAC cosmetics #130 Duo Fiber Brush (It's my favourite) The makeup artist that attends to you might suggest otherwise. GO FROM LIGHT TO DARK. "Coffee will stain your white dress.". Lastly, make sure you are comfortable with the brush. The confidence you have in your brush will help you immensely.

MAC cosmetics Mineralised Skin Finish Natural in Give me Sun or Dark.

Keep Eczema and Rashes Away

Suffering from eczema? Constant or occasional rashes? Perhaps this would help!

Last week Thursday, during my evening skin care routine (Which happens rarely! Don't judge, I'm not always do or die with my night time skin care. LOL). Anyway, as I looked into the mirror, just under my chin, I saw a teenie, tainie, eczema. Knowing skin, these concerns usually happen when it's time to detox or my diet is just "food"!

When I was living in South Africa, this happened, and a friend of mine told me how his mother used to cure (and prevent) his eczema with Rooibos tea. So, I bought some from the stores, and applied Handmade Rooibos Jumbo Glycerin Soap by Morning Glory Soaps; in 1 day and a half... GONE!

I wondered how many people knew about this. So, I researched, and discovered that ivillage.com does. Click on the link and find out what they have to say about it.

I love lipstick. My boyfriend doesn't

Yip, you talk about this a lot! At the makeup counter, with your friends, to your makeup artist... Everywhere! It's heartbreaking.

Well, maybe not "HEARTBREAKING" but for makeup artists, makeup creators, and makeup lovers... it's... Heartbreaking! The thing is, you love makeup, and the way lipstick (or lipgloss) makes everything come together; especially when you make all that effort to look good, and feel good about yourself.

We can agree that Girls rituals should remain girls rituals (and and be appreciated by the guy). Your man shouldn't stop kissing you because of lipsticks. If you're wearing a bold colour for a night event... Well, thats not the time to smudge your lipstick. Invite him to give you a quick one and wait until you get home. If you wear a bright bold red lipstick or gloss before "Doing the deed" just make sure he's into that "scene". Anyway, I digress. Wear your lipstick or gloss because you love it and perhaps it looks great as a finish look; not because your boyfriend, husband, girlfriend, or someone else likes it or not like it. That's not what lipsticks are made for. "The only compromise you should make for your man or the person in your life, when it comes to your lipstick is the Colour."

If you're not a lipstick or lip colour girl (or guy), then we love you for that too. Just ensure that your lips are moisturised and not chapped. This is a universal NO NO!

What do you think? I just thought to throw this in there... LOL! Light-hearted, of course. I'm just speaking FOR the "girls" and women. "It's Okay if he wants to run your lipstick... but not okay if he asks you not to wear any."

The Cheeky Girl Makeup Tips

Hello everyone!I am BACK!

I apologise for taking this long to blog. Busy, Busy! But hey, I'm back, so let's get this show on the road!Today, I want to talk about creating the perfect "'Cheeky' Girl Makeup."

I have been paying attention to girls and how they express their personalities through their makeup application. Today, I want to make yours a little different by adding the "Cheeky Touch." What is HOT now? Hard to decide... However, I can tell you that there is a battle between the Matte and Dewy. Whatever your preference is... I am 100% behind you. Like "Sam Fine" will say... "Makeup is about personality, and this is going to be different from one person to another." -

I am going to assume you already know what perfect foundation gives you the perfect matte finish, or what highlighter delivers the perfect glow or dewy finish that makes you feel like the real-ness. Now, let's pick where you like your attention to be on; Eyes? Lips? I Love!

EYES: Your best friend here is... "False Lashes!" Now, let's not go too crazy... Shop for one that when straightened will give you a nice catchy' flirty eyes, and when curled or bent will take your on a "Retro Train." Then remember your bottom lashes. Try MAC cosmetics mascara in "Haute & Naughty", sweep it upwards, mating it with your false lashes and natural lashes then finish it up by adding it to your bottom lashes. With your mascara brush, attach 2 together and separate them so they go from thick on the lash line to thin on the tip. Eyeshadow? Think Pearly. Sweep it on your eye lid and blend upwards. This gives your lashes power and remember what they say about the eyes? No? Ask me! :)

LIPS: Screw the gloss! Go Matte! Or Retro Matte! Too dry for you? Go for something in between! Like Satin. Dust your concealer over your lips for a clear pallet, grab a nice long wearing pencil, sculpt a kick ass shape on your lips, blend with the pencil as a base. Now, use your matte lipstick to perfect a consistent colour intensity. Open your mouth and ensure you have the right amount of colour on the inner corners of your lips. Nothing beats a nicely sculpted lip! You know what they say about a beautifully defined lip? Ask me! That's it from me...

Sexy Valentines Makeup

Hello Lovers!!!

Here is a quick guide to achieving that super sexy makeup for your date tonight. I will be suggesting mostly MAC cosmetics products. You can however grab a similar shade from other brands if you do not have it in MAC. I am going to assume you have applied your necessary base. Prep + Prime, Strobe liquid, Foundation, Concealers and powder. Now lets go to Eyes, Lips and Cheeks.

For your eyes today... I suggest SUPER NUDE! Please avoid the voices in your head, telling you to Red-It-All-Up. Too cliche, Too much! Grab your MAC paint-pot in "Painterly" and apply on your eyelid with your 217 Brush. Blend upwards, and sweep through what is left on your brush over your brow-bone till you have achieved a nice base and wash of colour. Then grab your MAC eyeshadow in "Dazzlelight" and apply to your eyelid. Blend till desired intensity (remember... NUDE). Then apply a bit of "Naked Lunch" on your crease, and blend to bring definition to your eyes. Now, here is where you want to HAWT FACTOR to be... LOADS OF MASCARA! Don't be shy here. You want your lashes to do the flirting. But please don't over-do-it. Take your time. Apply COATS of mascaras, let each application dry up a little before the next. With the tip of your mascara brush, separate your lashes by turning 3 into 1 (or 2 in 1 if you have fewer lashes), and do the same with your bottom lashes. Now grab that purple eyeliner you've been keeping away and line your lower lash-line. (This should be done before your final coat of mascara)

Lips: Grab your MAC in Ruby-woo and define your lips with those baby! This is such a fun Red colour without the fuss. and finally... Use your MAC blush in "Margin" and soften up your face. The glowy effect of this blush will give your that dreamy look and your lips will give your that Slutty, oops, Sultry factor! Don't wanna go RED? Also fine... Just colour those lips up!

5 Minutes Makeup Tips For Working Moms

Wondering how to do your makeup in 5 minutes without skipping the vava-voom effect? Simple! Juggling between breakfast for your kids, catching up with work time, and other tasks that comes with morning before starting your day? Here are the necessary products and tips you need to put your face on in 5 minutes.

Tinted Moisturizer: This spreads on easier and quicker and all you need are your hands. Foundation will require tools and snatch some useful time due to blending and getting the right finish. Put some Tinted moisturizer on your hands and apply on your face. If you have spots that you feel is important to cover, grab your concealer, cover up the areas that is need and you're done with your base.

Blush: Apply blush to the apple of your cheeks with your ring finger. Do this until you've achieved the desired intensity.

Pencil: Take a soft Black or Dark Brown eye pencil and apply to your lower lash-line and blend with your finger. Gently pull out the outer corner of your eyelid. draw a line and connect it to your lower lash-line. Smudge this for a nice and defined round or winged effect. (remember to clean your hands so your don't stain your base) DON'T FORGET YOUR EYEBROWS :-)

Mascara: Apply your first coat of black mascara on your eye, move to the next, while the other dries up. Then come back for a second coat. This gives a fuller effect.

Lips: Since your eyes will look pretty simply. I advise your go for a lips colour that is a tad deeper in shade. If you prefer your lips to be pretty nude, go for just one to two shades deeper than normal. But if you don't mind a Red, Pink, Purple lips colour and if it is appropriate for your kind of work. Then, I say go for it. This will make your overall look pop. Dust your face with your blot / sheer powder and TADA... You're done, baby!

Whatever plans you have for this weekend, be it visiting friends, dinner date, or doing it for the first time with a guy you've been dating and want you wake up looking fresh. Yes, this is not the time for "Love me for what I look like." I'm sure he does... Just... Not the first time of doing "IT". You are allowed to go crazy on the second, third, and forever time. For now... You gotta fake it, till you nail it! (If you know what I mean. So, lets start with...

Girls weekend look:

This look is super easy. Girls weekend should be super easy, casual, window (or actual shopping), and lots of gossip. Here all you need are the basics. Foundation: (For flawless finish), Eyebrows: (Super light strokes to frame the face), Mascara: (To open up the eyes and add that touch of freshness. Remember your bottom lashes), Blush: (To give your face the necessary glow. also to prevent you from looking pale. This should be a super easy application on the apples of your cheeks and whatever is left on your brush, write a "3" with it on your face) and LIPSTICK / GLOSS: (Pop of colour on your lips. This will bring everything together and complement your nude application that something extra)

Dinner Date:

So, since this is going to be at night... You want this look to do the flirting for you while you work backstage, e.g. "The duck pout", "The winking", and being shy for no reason. LOL! Lets focus here on the Eyes and the Lips. Eyes for loads of blinking, and Lips for biting. After a really defined eyebrows that doesn't look too drawn on (Remember, your eyebrows mustn't look too different from your actual hair colour). Now, think "Kim Kardashian" use a champagne eye shadow with shimmer on your eyelid and a dark shade (Brown or black or DEEP purple in Matte) on your crease. Use a clean brush and blend the edges. Now, apply tons of mascara. Let your first application dry off and then apply the second and do the same for the third time. Apply a touch of the champagne eye shadow to the inner corned of your eyes and use what is left in your dark eye shadow brush and swipe it through the bottom of your eyes. Go all out here on your choice of lip colour. I say the deeper the colour, the better. Use a colour that is rich, but also doesn't completely seal up your actual lip texture as you want your date to be able to think about kissing YOU and not your LIPSTICK or GLOSS. Visit your favourite makeup counter to get a colour that complements you. Finally...

Bedroom Look:

This look should be super easy. The aim here is to look fresh, and not a different person from last night. I suggest foundation is not necessary here. Skip it if your skin is a clear or no much spot. Otherwise, just apply concealer on places that you really need it. Then your eyes... Use a light touch of gold shadow (Think MAC shadow in Romp); all you need here is a tiny application for glow. Apply across your eyelid and bottom of your eyes. Clear mascara, and lip balm or clear gloss and you are ready for the Morning After. Hey... Don't forget breath mint.

Makeup Tips For Teens: Selena Gomez & Kendall Jenner

In today's world of "Reality TV, Teen heartthrob, Pretty little liars, Gossip girls, and super artistic videos by teenage super stars. It is very easy to completely get lost in the 'very unrealistic' world of 'What she is wearing, what makeup she has on, and how she did that lips of eyeliner that really made her look super rad in that music video or something in that scene. :-). Yea, I know... I have a sister and it is really not easy pointing her in the direction that will save her from potentially causing harm to her skin due to tons of makeup, trying to look as awesome as Selena Gomez, Kyle and Kendall Jenner, or like the coolest girl in school.

This brings me to my topic of the day. I want to use this medium to say... Most of these teen superstars that look super cool in videos, only do so because of the recent artistic trend in Hollywood parties, or video making. Hell, some of them don't even like looking the way they do (However RAD,) but are forced to do so because it is what the Director / Producer wants, or Lady gaga looked really 'Out there' and it brought a lot of attention. To save your time... What is the reason for this post? Simple! To bring to your attention that the 'Super cool', love on the lips, really long cat-eye makeup, and overly applied concealer that you see on the faces of your favourite TV stars, is not what they wear in real life. To make you understand better... Why is it that most celebrities barely have makeup on when their pictures are taken on the streets on a normal day? They don't like wearing makeup and it is the same for young models.

I know you must be thinking "Please, he is just not cool, or doesn't understand what it is like to be in the company of so and so... Well, catch this.... I am not that much older than you and I have had someone tell me that my then 'very cool hairstyle' was not very good. As a makeup artist, I want tell you what you should avoid, and what you should do when it comes to applying your makeup.

You have so much going for you now. Your uniformed complexion, your healthy looking eyes, and your skin elasticity is still in business :-) However, you have the power to either destroy or maintain this goodies for a very long time by avoiding too much makeup application and applying the right habit now as what you feed your skin today, will help you when you are much older. That said, I know there are some teens who have pretty tough skin issues like I did when I was a teenager. (Yes, I'm a guy and I don't wear makeup) But it doesn't change the fact that we all have different times in our lives when our skin issues arises. Some people just happen to have them when they are much younger and it disappears over time and Vice Versa. Now, here are photos of what you think is cool due to what you've seen in videos and what is really the right thing that Selena Gomez, Kyle and Kendal Jenner, and other teens actually do in real life with their makeup.

1. If you have a youthful, clear skin. All you need is a tinted moisturizer to help even out your complexion even more. You really don't need the heave stuff as the more layers of foundation you have on, the more older you look and "Older is only cool when you are older" Trust me on this.

This makeup is very creative, and out there when she had it on for that special occasion and I know some girls tried this look (or some are still planning on trying it soon). However, she doesn't wear her makeup like this in her daily life. Why? Simply because she doesn't need to.

Clean, youthful, and ageless... This is the image she prefers the world to see. Her personality, and charm shinning through, instead of her makeup. To achieve this look: If you have a clear skin, all you want to do is apply a tinted moisturizer your shade and to cover up any unevenness, a blot powder, and highlighter. If you have dark spots on your face that you feel the need to cover. Darling, you simply need a concealer to apply on the exact part of your face that needs coverage, blend into your foundation and you are good to go.

This photo is for advertising, and the eye makeup is done for the camera to capture the concept of the shoot. As a makeup artist, I can point out to you, the twist of this makeup look. She's got dark dark eyes with a very nude lips to balance the palette. Some girls will get this one Very, Very wrong! Can you imagine her with with a dark shade of lips stick added to that eye??? WRONG! Especially not for a beach shoot.

REAL LIFE: Kendal Jenner

True, this is not exactly her in real life, but I use this photo to give you an idea of how it should be done should you want a bolder eye, and lips. Notice how her foundation is clean, and not much bronzer. For this look. Use a white, or nude tone eye pencil to line your water line. A slight touch of eyeshadow, either brown, or even your dark bronzer. This is just to give your eye a healthy glow. And for your upper lid. Gently pull out the outer part of your eyelid, damp your eyeliner brush (not WET) and slide it in your black eyeshadow, Then apply across your upper eyelid. This helps define your line and prevent that not so nice creamy looking line. If you feel like its too drawn on and you want a more blended look. With your blending brush, take a little powder, starting from your brow bone, blend down to the tip (where the line is showing) and smudge it a little. Then add mascara but avoid it clamping by running it over a tissue paper to remove the excess.

Finally, remember... all you want is a healthy look. Your youthful looking skin is doing all the talking for you and you really do not need tons of makeup to show how cool you are. If there is one thing I know about being cool... it will be that "Being cool is not always about what you wear, or how much makeup you have on. Being cool is about carriage. This is why even the girl who doesn't have expensive clothes still manages to be cool because of the way she carries herself and the confidence she exudes.

PUCKER Up: Flirty Weekend Lips

Do you want the "Look but don't Kiss" look? You're in the right place!
This look will be all about your lips and it will be nude, but will shine like a star from afar...

Let's Get To It...

Dab gently on your lips with light concealer. This will help your lip colour last all night and since your natural lip colour is not interfering... the pigment of your lipstick will be even more visible. Next apply a nude lip liner around the edge of your lip, blend properly. This creates definition and will help prevent smudging. Now, liberally apply your favourite nude lipstick (just a little more than you would normally apply), add a hint of golden right in the inner center of your bottom lip, blend around that area. Finally, apply an Olive toned lip gloss for shine. When this is done, use your 'ring finger' to gently dab around the edges of your lip. This will help your excess gloss to set properly.

Eyes colour for this lip... "Whatever"! However, I prefer a sexy, well blended cat eye look with loads of mascara.

Now you are ready to have da boys (or girls) come begging for a kiss.

P.S. If you have a very dark ethnic skin (e.g Alek Wek), then you would want to go for a 'not so bright' nude lipstick. Think rich gold, with darker lip liner. And don't be too happy with the gold lipstick. Hell, work that dark purple lip gloss (just for hint of colour, and finally add a clear gloss)

Makeup Trend For 2012

First let me start this post by wishing all your readers a Wonderful 2012. I do believe that it will be the best year yet. And don't worry... This is not the year that the world will be coming to an end. I still have lots of makeup looks to try and hopefully, you do too.

Now... Lets talk about the Makeup Trends for 2012.
Should there be any?
What is the point?
Why would I have to put away all I have learned in 2011, simply because it is a new year. Well, I agree with you. However, It does feel good to make an effort to want to create something new as the year is new... yknow... Like your own person statement. And what better way to show what your resolutions are that sign them on your face with your makeup look :-))

Oh well... Lets Begin....

First Look: Red Kiss: This look is a personal favourite! Talk about starting the year with the intention to "Paint not only the town but the world RED!" Yes... This look speaks volume! A subtle eye with mascara and a punch of colour on your lips will certainly give you that fiesty, edgy start in 2012.

Second Look: Modern Cat-Eye. When I was learning makeup... I intentionally ignored all lessons on "The perfect foundation, and The perfect concealer because those 2 came naturally to me but I struggled to master that art of the perfect eyeliner. So, I spent a long time learning, and learning. Until I became pretty good at it and can manipulate my brush irrespective of the condition of a client's eye lashes. So, here you have the second look. Master it, and make it work for you as it is a style that will always be a great one. You can wear this look to see the Queen if you do it right.

Third Look: Smoking, Smokey Eyes. This look is not just about smoking up your crease... It is also important to make your lower lash-line blended into the upper. Nicely define your eyes with that dark mysterious look. Remember to now go all dark on your face. Keep the rest friendly for that touch of mystery.
