It was on a normal day at work in the month of April. This fateful day of April 18 I came to work as usual. I was one month old in the company. My boss called me into the board room because there was something important she wanted to discuss with me. I started freaking out, my body went cold and my mind was blank. When I entered the board room, she started smiling and shook my hand congratulating me. I could not understand. As I sat down, my mind was full of thoughts on whether I had got a promotion. She broke the news that I was supposed to accompany her and our general manager to coast for an ICPAK conference which was to take one week. I was handed my plane ticket by the business development manager. She gave me leave to go get ready for we were to leave in the morning at 9 o'clock aboard Boeing 777 plane. We met with the chauffeur who helped us with our bags; before driving us off to Voyager Beach Resort. The hotel is wonderful. It is situated in Nyali. It is made like a ship. Its very strategically placed because it is along the shore of the ocean and so while in your room, you are able to enjoy the beautiful scenes in the ocean. The rooms are exquisite with two beds, hot shower, DSTV,as well as automatic room warmers. The food is excellent, its a buffet, where you eat what you want. In the evening, there are dancers who dance to different themes and operas performances. Ooh how wonderful an experience was this for me. The beach was surrounded by lush green rainforest, with prolific bird life chirping to the cool winds of nature. There were beach boys by the sea selling various African made artifacts which made the experience even memorable. The holiday could not be better without sand bathing in the tropical paradise. Walking in the sand bare foot made it even more magical, and to crown it all, a beautiful masseuse to help me relax. One thing with Mombasa, there are plenty of places to do shopping on artifacts. You can visit the artists spread around town who have very beautiful carvings at cheap and affordable prices.
