The Baltic Sea Anomaly

Glanke’s battered Escape Pod emerged on the far side of the galaxy. Its survival systems pointed the ship toward an unknown solar system that had a planet with oxygen—a blue planet. The ship, however, was badly damaged and its survival systems made it speed wildly toward the planet, aware its own systems could shut down at anytime.

The Pod attempted to awaken Glanke, who had been put into a sonically induced sleep while fleeing the shock wave; but was unable to. The Escape Pod was now rapidly approaching the blue planet, and again The Pod attempted to awaken Glanke; and again, to no avail. Finally, Glanke's ship entered screaming into the atmosphere of the planet and began to burn. The friction of the fiery entry made the Pod shake uncontrollably. In a high pitched harmonic sound found in Glanke’s work suit, the Pod finally implored: “Awaken Glanke, awaken!”, and with that, Glanke's eyes opened.

The first sight that greeted Glanke was the vision of a large body of liquid looming below the ship, quickly getting closer and closer. Panicked, Glanke struggled to gain control of the Pod and was aghast to see its controls so heavily damaged. Again and again, Glanke tried every possible configuration, until finally, just before impact, Glanke managed to pull the ship level as it hit the surface making it swim horizontally through the liquid. Glanke was relieved to see the liquid was water.

As the the Escape Pod slowed down scraping the sandy floor, it finally came to a stop. They were well below the surface. The Pod automatically dispatched a distress signal, to summon a Rescue Team. It should be just a matter of time before a team would come and rescue them, thought Glanke. When the ship began to teeter and pitch uncontrollably, its survival system magnetically pulled up material underneath to steady it. And again, everything went dark.

Glanke could hear other Antens singing in “high-notes”. On Glanke’s Home Planet, Flala, the Antens often “sing” by extending and connecting their Gaarlon Mouth to those of other Antens’. Together, sharing breathes they sing in high-notes that are made as they attempt to make a louder, harmonic sound called the Usepping Sound. Almost all Antens do this when they’re happy and communing.

The singers were gazing at the beautiful spectacle of gigantic Flala from the vantage point of her tiny moon called Nia. Nia was even more oxygen-rich than Flala, and was Glanke’s favorite of her four moons.

It was a peaceful evening and the bright-blue light of Flala made Glanke, united with the others, sing very high notes indeed—actually achieving the Usepping Sound. Glanke was overcome by the feeling of well-being.

Then, Glanke heard other sounds; they were also strange and enticing. They seemed to be coming from Flala. It was as if Flala herself was talking to Glanke—which of course was impossible. Then something amazing happened, Glanke actually heard Flala speak: “Awaken Glanke, awaken!”.

Glanke was working outside, in-space, repairing a disabled Anten Tracking Station, when the work suit indicated an urgent message was coming in. But for some reason, the transmission was garbled. This time was different, though, because the message was coming from a rarely used channel, so it must have been critical. Not being able to hear it clearly, startled Glanke.

Glanke knew an enormous shock-wave from the Great Bortaan Cataclysm was about to engulf the entire sector; but was also expected to pass safely outside the Shield. This was was no longer true, in fact the message was now clear, and loudly proclaimed a “catastrophic Shield failure” had occurred, and to take "precautionary measures". "Precautionary measures?" thought Glanke.

Suddenly, Glanke was abruptly grabbed and thrust into the bay of an Emergency Escape Pod and whisked-off into space. As the Pod accelerated to outrun the lethal shock-wave, Glanke noticed it was acting strangely and attempted to gain control. The Pod began to shake uncontrollably, violently throwing Glanke around. Then everything went dark.

Mysterious Sounds: “The Strange Case of Clintonville”

It's one thing for the scary world-wide sounds to be world-wide; and it's quite another to realize that "world-wide" includes the U.S.!

Yes, there was a widely experienced, well documented sound phenomenon in Wisconsin—just weeks ago!

On Sunday night, March 18, 2012, starting around 9:30 PM, the tiny town (pop. 4,550) of Clintonville, Wisconsin, was shaken by a series of loud booms.

“The Clintonville Incident”

First described as “explosions under the ground” by an eyewitness (or “earwitness”), the booms seemed to come and go. Dubbed “The Clintonville Incident” by a local news station, the booms continued throughout the night and into the day, starting again at about 7:00 AM. It became clear that many more people experienced the booms and reported the same thing.

No damage was reported and no one was evacuated.

The official on the ground is the City Administrator, Lisa Kuss (pronounced “koose”). She has heard the booms herself and knows what the city is up against. Right away, she surveys the situation and takes action, says manholes were being opened and checked throughout the city for gas leaks, but none were found. Utility crews, fire dept and police thoroughly patrolled the area—nothing.

Quote Lisa Kuss on Monday: “What we know from Geologist down at UW Madison is that this is not clearly consistent with earthquake activity that, that typically happens about one mile below the earth’s surface or more”. This supposition would change.

“…booms were becoming more intense”

Monday night the booms were experienced over a wider area, leading to hundreds of 911 calls. Witnesses claimed that the booms were becoming more intense, but seem to taper off during the daytime.

Imagine being at home and all of the sudden loud booms are heard that shake your front door. Some of these are heard in succession, and sometimes in the middle of the night.

By the end of Tuesday, recording, video and other monitoring equipment are set up. Relatively fewer sounds are heard.

Concerned citizen’s schedule a town hall meeting, scheduled for Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM.

Relatively fewer sounds are heard Tuesday night, until about 5:00 AM Wednesday morning. 28-calls are received from residents within minutes complaining of 3-large booms.

Appeal to outside scientists

Lisa Kuss speaks to a local news station at 6:30 AM, Wednesday morning, and indicates that after a third day, people are becoming frustrated after realizing that it is not gas or such explanations, and claims that the sounds happen “it tends to happen more at night” and rules out geological explanations like frost thawing, early warm weather or earthquakes. Also ruled out water/sewer systems elevated gas or the dam or landfill, or the, military. Have also investigated or mining operations. Makes appeal to outside scientists, and indicates that with engineers to get vibration detecting devices to figure out epicenter. Says will have meeting at High School to answer questions; important to bring people together.

A man named John speaks to a local Fox 11 News station and claims the he heard booms Wednesday morning at: 4:56 4:58 4:59 5:29 6:03 6:20 6:22 6:24 6:25. However, Fox 11 reports that recording equipment fail to record booms.

“God is shaking our city”

Frightened citizens search for answers

Kuss says the city signed a contract with an engineering company out of Waukesha, to install vibration measuring devices. The devices are expected to arrive on Thursday or Friday. This equipment could cost the city about $7,000. She also announces counselors from the American Red Cross will be at Clintonville High School in the evening (meeting at 6:00 PM) in case people are stressed by the shaking they’ve felt or the stories they’ve heard.

By 5:00 PM Wednesday, 550-911 calls were received about the booms.

The “Booms-area” expands

Channel 15at 5:00 reports that the nearby city of Montello, WI (80 miles south of Clintonville) also experienced a boom Tuesday night.

It is reported that between 1:30 and 2:30 AM Wednesday night more booms were heard.

Baby earthquake is blamed

NBC News through its affiliate TMJ 4, at 6:00 PM, reported that an earthquake of a magnitude of 1.5, hit Clintonville at 12:15 AM Tuesday 20^th. From here on out, every conversation that grasps for explanations will cite the 1.5 earthquake; in fact, the City itself will sell T-shirts online that say: “I survived the 1.5”.

NBC 26 reports that the seismic equipment arrived.

Thursday night 12 reports of booms.

Friday Night, booms return. But only 3 people report booms.

On Sunday, April 1, at 1:00 AM, two bright flashes of light 45 minutes apart are seen, each followed by a loud boom. Not in Clintonville but in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Loud, jolting booms have previously been reported in Montello (northeast of Baraboo) at 5:30 PM Central on March 20, 2012; and in Clintonville 80 miles northeast of Montello.

Finally, on March 24^th, the Clintonville booms are finally recorded by Brian Sullivan, an audio student from Madison College.

Throughout the next several weeks the booms die down. In late April, UFO Blog called Lisa Kuss, City Administrator of Clintonville, and asked, “Are the booms still being heard?” She answered “no”.

Earthquakes are rare in Wisconsin, the reason may be the dense, hard granite bedrock under the city is more stable and shifts less than the softer ground of, say, California. The theory has been advanced that, air pockets in the bedrock are broken by the earthquakes and essentially explode, or the gnashing of the bedrock against itself also causes audible booms that shake the townspeople's homes. No correlation, however, between the 1.5 earthquake (including it's attendant fore and aftershocks) and a greater degree of "booming" at the time of the quake was ever made. In fact no direct correlation between any seismic activity and any sequence of booms was ever made. The Townspeople rarely ever cited earthquakes instead complained mostly about the booms themselves.

The assertion the Boom Phenomenon in Clintonville was caused by earthquakes is flawed, and other booms were also heard by distant towns where no particular seismic activity was detected. Finally, Loud booms, as were heard could themselves cause the ground to shake. In fact the student that recorded the booms, Brian Sullivan, said the he heard the boom first, then felt the ground shake.

Although many seismic readings and measurements were later recorded, the true reason for the Clintonville booms may never be known.

Mysterious Sounds: A Ominous Global Phenomenon

A frightening new phenomenon has been occurring all over the world, but few people know about it. And unlike other mysterious events, this one is so different and its implications are so serious, that it has to be and will be broadcast to the entire world.

Since at least the middle of 2011, strange and unexplainable sounds have been heard and recorded throughout the world: Russia, France, Canada, England, Ukraine, Ireland, Denmark, Spain, Czech Republic, Mexico, Chile, Australia and many others.

These audible sounds range from being loud to very distant; from groaning scraping sounds to loud booms to even horns. One thing these outdoor sounds have in common is that they are scaring people, and appear to have no explanation. This video, while long (stick with it, it gets scarier and scarier), well demonstrates these puzzling phenomena.

As this video shows, these ominous sounds have even been experienced in the United States (more on this in next post).

The discussions regarding these creepy noises range from theories about extraterrestrial communications to scientific explanations; and in between, many wonder if these have some kind of meaning that's beyond explanation. Some even liken these sounds to warnings about the advent of the so called December 21, 2012 Apocalypse, predicted by the Mayans.

If you are a true UFO lover, and UFO Blog knows you are, you need to get to know Jaime Maussan. Mr. Maussan does what nobody does, especially in the United States. He specifically reports on UFO and other Paranormal activity—but mostly UFOs. He’s a world renowned Reporter, Researcher and Ufologist. He has been the most serious and accurate investigator out there to date.

Mr. Maussan is from Mexico and hosts a show dedicated to UFO and other paranormal activity called Tercer Milenio or Third Millennium. Many people submit their UFO sightings directly to him. He’s a trusted repository of UFO accounts. He researches each story to weed out hoaxes and pranks, which he deplores. The fact that you haven’t heard about him should concern any serious UFO watcher or enthusiast.

Jaime Maussan

Most of the world’s UFO sightings are not reported consistently in the USA. Once in awhile there may be an episode of UFO Hunters, or some news station may report on a local unexplained sighting, but there really isn’t any serious or consistent presentation of the UFO phenomenon in the USA; a phenomenon that is worldwide.

Jaime Maussan reports on many different paranormal phenomenons, like: crop circles, USOs (Unidentified Submerged Objects), flotillas, NASA sightings, mysterious sounds, alien sightings, abductions, flying beings, American military cover-ups, imbedded objects, special accounts like the Jerusalem sightings (more on this in a later blog post) or the experiences or Stan Romanek, spirals, ebanis and good ol’ flying saucers.

The following video is new as of this date, and actually presents a conference that Mr. Maussan attends every year, mostly in the United States. The video offers English subtitles and presents what Jaime Maussan is all about. Check it out.

What distinguishes Maussan's reportage of UFOs and any other reporter, is that he provides a narrative to the UFO phenomenon. He looks at the worldwide appearance of strange paranormal activity in a more holistic context.

The scariest thing about about this is that he believes we are currently being contacted and are receiving messages or warnings, from somebody, and that it's just a matter of time before "they" reveal themselves. Hello December 21, 2012. Are you ready? Jaime is.

Mystery Missile!: "In Conclusion"

Okay, what have we learned about the object the took-off November 8, 2010, "out of the Sea" and over the Western Sky? Two things, really: there are those who believe it was the contrail of a jetliner and those who believe it was a missile. For your convenience, UFO Blog has analyzed these two theories for you.

It could not have been the contrail of a jetliner because the plume had a spiral or corkscrew shape. Conversely, it could not have been a missile because it moved too slowly and—for what it's worth—the Military knew nothing about it (but missiles can have spiral contrails and Militarys can, well, fib). So, what was it?

It was a UFO; there is no explanation. It seemed so likely it was a contrail, but if you really look at the footage it's clear the object was spinning, and the shape of the contrail itself proves this. Also, if it were a missile, then where did it go? What's it's purpose? It's a Mystery!

In conclusion, it seems that—hey what's this?

What is this?

A mystery within a mystery? Yes, this image actually appears in the Mystery Missile clips that were shown on various news programs at the time, but not in all of them. Knowingly or not, "UFO2" was excluded by some news organizations. It's not clear whether this was intentional. But this has spurred some conspiracy theorists to ring alarm bells.

Notice this video shows only one enlarged still. This makes the object seem bigger, ominous, more UFO-y. Also, the author claims the UFO2 "intercepts" the Mystery Missile. But this is not the case.

Here is the "complete" UFO2 footage (take a good look at it, enlarge with the "X" in right corner):

UFO2, looks a lot like a helicopter at first. It even appears to have a rotor on top of the stern (back)—and that's weird. Notice it has a blinking running light but it's in an odd place (and no red lights). Compared to the scale of the footage, this object would have to be very large. Also, it appears to have a constant light on the stern that's very bright.

UFO2 looks more like a plane moving backwards. If this is a helicopter, it would have to be a military model, perhaps an American twin-engine, tandem rotor heavy-lift helicopter, called Chinook. Its top speed of 196 mph. Let's take a look:

Obviously, this helicopter does not resemble UFO2 at all. The Chinook's rotors are it's most obvious feature and don't appear in the Mystery Missile footage.

Also, the shape is all wrong! Why did this object come so close to our Mystery Missile? Lastly, if this is a helicopter it would have to be military, and in that case, the military would know what this is because we sure don't. It will remain another mystery for now. The end.

Mystery Missile!: "Professor: It was a missile, not a plane"

The following video is an excellent segment from CNN, featuring the Mystery Missile. It originally aired soon after the time of the sighting (November 8, 2010). It’s hosted by Josh Levs and presents a discussion about the main crux of the Mystery Missile saga: missile vs. jetliner.

Mr. Levs’ piece presents proponents of both sides, but more importantly, his approach vastly differs from other news show presentations in that the CNN producers take-on the "it was an optical illusion" mantra that became common in the days after the event; especially after the US Military took the position that it was an airplane. In effect, the book was closed on this UFO case— since it was just an airliner contrail.

This CNN segment also features a discussion of the nature of contrails, an explanation of the optics and illusions; but most interestingly it shows Mr. Levs asking the missed but essential question: “if this was an airplane, why can’t U.S. Officials just tell us which one it was? We have records of our aircraft in this country especially since 911!"

Mr. Levs then hands the discussion over to Pentagon Correspondent Chris Lawrence who quotes NORAD as stating “no foreign military launched any missile at that time nor was there any danger to the Homeland” The usual pap! But then he cites the FAA as indicating it…“did radar replays of that time period; they didn’t track any fast-moving unidentified object. Also, none of the Pilots in that area at the time reported seeing anything”.

Finally, Col. David Laplan of the Pentagon chimed in with: “All DOD entities with rocket and missile programs reported no launches, scheduled or inadvertent, during the time period in the area of the reported contrail”.

This is astonishing! This information was missing from UFO Blog’s account of this event. The fact is now clear; there was no official witnessing of this event, despite the massive arsenal of sensitive state-of-the-art tracking equipment. How is that possible when the object was recorded and tracked by conventional photo and video cameras for at least 10-minutes?

Josh Levs closes the segment by throwing it back to the Anchorwoman Kyra Phillips by saying:

She's otta' this world

“In the meantime we here at CNN are calling just about everyone we can think of to find out what the deal is with this aircraft, and Kyra in the end we've got a couple of questions: not only what the deal is with this, but also why doesn’t the Government know what the deal is with this, we’ll get you that as soon as we have it.”Unexpectedly, Ms. Phillips answers with a strange remark: “alright, maybe we want to try calling God, looks like he or she is the only one with the answers right now.” This makes Josh giggle and then mutter under his breath “if only”.

The irony is, this important CNN video was uploaded by a guy who collects videos of "hot newswomen", like Kyra Phillips, and this video was in his YouTube channel (UFO Blog was unwittingly led to the site—honest). Here's the video.

Mystery Missile!: "Theories" III

More "Mystery Missile Theories": It was a Hobbyist missile or a "Private Launch"; If the object was coming from the West, as it appeared to be, where would it have been launched from, or more accurately from what?

The only possible "platforms" would be an island, a ship (not a "boat") or a submarine. First of all, can we save a tree and dispense with The "Private Launch" Theory? Isn't it an oxymoron?

UFO Blog believes if it were a "Hobbyist", he would pick an island to fire-off his enormous, mysterious toy missile; but no missiles "mysterious" or otherwise were detected from the local islands, especially Santa Catalina Island. That leaves a ship or submarine. The coolest theory is a submarine launch! Imagine, that would put it in the category of Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM). Perhaps it is naive to believe that the US Military would not chime in if it was. But they assert that it was a an airliner.

It was a UFO: There's good news and there's bad news. What's that? You want to hear the good news first. No way. The bad news is UFO Blog could have just blurted-out: "of course it's a freakin' UFO— it's unidentified and it's flying"—in the very beginning! But then you would've missed the plot-twists and surprise ending.

The good news is the Mystery Missile is a UFO, an unidentified flying object. What's not clear is whether it's an alien craft. As UFOs go, it was striking because it appeared above a heavily populated area during daylight for at least 10-minutes. Also, it appeared to include a contrail that looked and behaved like an airplane's but corkscrew-shaped like a missile's; those "cancel each other out". That's the essence of the mystery, and that's what makes it unidentified.

Oh, did UFO Blog mention that there was a plot twist and a surprise ending? You bet!

Mystery Missile!: "The Helicopter"

On Monday evening November 8, 2010, a strange object slowly flew into the western sky off the coast of Southern California. As it shot into the orange-sunset sky, it climbed ever higher leaving an enormous plume. The object itself seemed to pulsate and shimmer; changing from metallic silver to orange to red-hot. This ominous scene filled the sky, and was visible for miles.

Fortunately, this dramatic event was caught on tape by a local KCBS/KCAL Chopper 9 TV Cameraman, Gil Leyvas. Said Leyvas “Whatever it was, it was spinning up into the sky kind of like a spiral,” and "was easy to distinguish from condensation trails from jets". He then added “It was quite a sight to see, it was spectacular”.

Leyvas, an experienced Videographer, must have seen thousands of contrails and cloud formations of all shapes and colors. As such, consider the significance of his words: "It was spinning like a spiral" and he "can distinguish it from the contrail of a jet", then added he could do it "easily". Even the statements, "it was quite a sight to see" and "It was spectacular", indicate this event was unique.

But let's get back to his statements about the object being "easy to distinguish from a contrail" and "spinning". Leyvas is an eyewitness in the sky; a seasoned reporter with high-tech video equipment. His experience teaches him to carefully observe objects and events and to capture them "live" or "on-tape". Fortunately a helicopter provides an outstanding vantage point to accomplish this task. If anyone is qualified to characterize this event it's him.

His observation, that it was "easy to distinguish" the Mystery's Missile's plume from that of a jetliner, flies in the face of what is now the commonly accepted explanation that it was, in fact, the contrail of a jetliner. This is significant because the Military, who was late to the party, announced that it concluded that it was probably a contrail.

Contrailscience.com, a website dedicated to contrails (or debunking the "chem-trail" controversy), features an article entitled Los Angeles Missile Contrail Explained in Pictures. This is an exhaustive (get it?) study of the behavior of the Mystery Missile's plume, with an emphasis on debunking the idea that it's a UFO.

UFO Blog pronounces this evidence "inconclusive". Why? Because as far as we can tell, the Contrailscience.com presentation doesn't prove that it's not a missile or an alien craft, but rather seems only to show that the Mystery Missile's exhaust plume behaves like a contrail; "your answer is blowin' in the wind".

Also, jetliner contrails don't spin or "spiral". When you look closely at the Mystery Missile footage, you clearly see the trail left by the object is a spiral. Below it, the rest of the trail disintegrates into a cloud as it's carried away by natural forces, much like a contrail.

Furthermore, the object actually emitting the exhaust glowed continuously, unlike the normal reflection of the Sun on the body of an aircraft, which flickers and quickly ends as the plane moves on. The Mystery Missile wasn't flickering, it was glowing; pulsating various "hot" colors. It was moving so slowly, that the original tape is actually 10-minutes long!

The closer you look at this event, the stranger it becomes. After all these months, perhaps it's time to look at the evidence again and listen to the eyewitness, but also to ask "where is that 10-minute tape"?

Mystery Missile!: "This is the kind of stuff I love"

Is nothing sacred? The Mystery Missile is a dramatic warning for us to prepare for the coming cosmic alignment and global axis shift. Nothing less than the very survival of Humankind lays in the balance—right?

Meanwhile the "schmexperts" have piously weighed-in and scolded us on the question of whether the Mystery Missile is an airplane or a missile, and proclaimed it to be a contrail from a UPS cargo jet.

Mystery Missile!: "Theories" II

More theories about the Mystery Missile: It was a missile fired by China: Frankly this hypothesis is weaker and sillier than any UFO-theory, because a missile launch would have been detected by radar from many military and civilian installations. Also, why? Why would China all of the sudden fire a missile at us? This would have been such a provocative act that it would have sparked a loud response from many, many quarters. Also, how could a Chinese submarine not be detected so close to a major metropolitan area lined with military bases? As much money as we owe China, we would think they would more likely to make sure we stayed in one piece, to be around to repay them.

It was a jetliner contrail: One thing is true, the most spectacular thing about this crazy "Roman Candle" is its plume. Called a Condensation Trail or a "Contrail", the vapor trail behind the object is accordingly smokey and fluffy. Virtually no one disputes the object behind the shiny thing on-top is some kind of contrail.

CBS, who has had the best reporting on this story, features Pentagon Spokesman, Col. Dave Lapan stating: "All of the [sic] factors together leave us pretty confident that this was a contrail left by an aircraft". This, apparently after checking with the FAA, Department of Homeland Security, Navy, Air force and The North American Aerospace Defense Command or "NORAD".

What do the real experts think? The website ContrailScience.com (I swear, UFO Blog not making this up!) provides an amazingly detailed study and analysis. Looking at every possible angle, they have determined the "Mystery Missile" phenomenon to simply be UPS902, a United Parcel Service Company MD-11, a three-engine plane "that can leave a contrail that looks like it's coming from one engine". Evidently, this airplane flies daily from Honolulu to Phoenix, on occasion scaring the hell out of everybody in L.A.

Imagine, finally, an explanation! Wait, what about the shiny thing on top? ContrailScience.com further explains this part of the phenomenon as being the reflection of the rays of the setting sun relecting from the body of the aircraft, like the sequence to right. The Mystery Missile is no more! Right?

Mystery Missile!: "Theories" I

Yes, even though it's 6-months later, even though it was a mass sighting and even though there may be some very good theories out there, this event and the object remain a mystery—a UFO.

What do people think this was? Well, this question prompts a dialog that extends to the weird and improbable. Theories abound but breakdown to these general categories:

It was a missile: When UFO Blog first saw it on TV, it looked like a missile, especially because newscast after newscast repeated that the "missile" originated 35-miles off the coast of California, northeast of Santa Catalina Island. In fact, it looked exactly like a submarine launched ICBM. But UFO Blog was not alone; this thing was was dubbed "Mystery Missile" from the beginning by news organizations.

Delta-II rocket

The main problem with the "Missile Theory" is the object was moving slowly but missiles are fast. Also, the billowing contrail emanating from the object was voluminous. Compare the photo to the right to the image of the "Mystery Missile" above. The picture to the right is a Delta Rocket II, T+ 47-seconds. Despite the thinner contrail, the similarity to the "Mystery Missile" is striking.

Another quirk is the object on-top of the "Mystery Missile appears to glow or shimmer, similar to a missile. This phenomenon will be explained-away in the theory It was a jetliner contrail.

In the final analysis, the "Mystery Missile" appears to not be a missile at all, mainly because no one has claimed it (more on this next episode). All government military agencies immediately denied any knowledge of a launch, except for one 3-days before—a Delta II Rocket fired from Vandenberg.

Also, the Military seemed caught off-guard; if they had launched a missile, it is likely there would have been a quick cover story, Remember, they had just launched that Delta Rocket just a few days before. The Military, our protectors from goofy missiles, was clueless! If it were a missile, it would have been caught on radar.

It was an accident: The proponents of this theory are oblivious to the fact that there is a careful protocol for initiating a military missile launch; requiring the participation of more than one individual. If it were purposely launched off the coast of Southern California in a crowded airspace next to a gigantic urban center in broad daylight, it would have been no accident. Why would an armed submarine be near Hollywood?

As Fox News put it "If a test missile or an accidental missile was launched in the region it would have either come from Naval Air Station Point Mugu or Vandenberg Air Force Base. At sea it could have come from a U.S. submarine or a surface ship." But from the get-go all Military or Aeronautic Agencies have denied any knowledge of a missile launch—including NORAD.

Mystery Missile!: "But Nobody Could Say What it Was"

On Monday evening, November 8, 2010, a UFO was sighted in the sky off the coast of Los Angeles. The object appeared shiny and emitted what appeared to be a large condensation trail (or "contrail").

This amazing sight was caught on tape by a local KCBS News helicopter Cameraman.

The following story about this event aired November 9, 2010, and was presented by CBS News through Good Morning America's Harry Smith and reported by CBS News National Security Correspondent, David Martin. It features the actual edited footage of the event (the uncut footage is said to be 10-minutes long!).

Mr. Martin starts-off by making it clear the Pentagon said they "still didn't know what it was" but then said "except, it wasn't a missile fired by the U.S. or another country". Skeptically, he then remarks "the video of, what looks for all the world, like the contrail of a missile...was shot...over Los Angeles" The story goes on: both Navy and Air force indicated they had not launched any missiles. Mr. Martin quotes the North American Air Defense Command as stating that it had not been fired by "any other military". Again, an incredulous David Martin states "but nobody could say what it was".

The North American Air Defense Command further stated the object was not a missile because it didn't "travel fast enough" nor "have a big enough exhaust plume to be a military missile".

The comparison of the object, constant in CBS News' coverage, is to a missile. In fact, the phenomenon has been dubbed "Mystery Missile". The segment ends with an interesting exchange between Harry Smith and David Martin. Martin comments "The best guess now, Harry, is that it's either an airliner or an amateur rocket, but we may never know for certain." Smith then pointed to comments indicating the importance of the "perspective" or "angle" between the helicopter and the object. (These types of arguments promote the idea the contrail is from a jetliner.) Smith then asks "is there any scuttlebutt consensus around the Pentagon"? Martin replies "scuttlebutt says airplane, but nobody is willing to make a definitive statement because they just don't have the data to prove it was an airplane. Finally, Martin sarcastically sums it all up: "they have the data to demonstrate that it was not a missile, but they can't prove what it was". This cracks Harry up.

CBS News' tone throughout the story is, curiously, a tad derisive. The implication being: The Military should have known about this-but didn't. And if they did, they're covering it up stupidly. But the Military may be only be a bit-player in this saga. Stay tuned.

Great Ball of Fire!: Other Balls of Fire II

This continues other people's UFO reports and videos (Please see Fire in the Sky: Great Balls of Fire!). These words capture their encounters with fireball UFOs, flaming orbs and other obnoxious burning celestial intrusions. Some of these reports reveal a tone that anyone who has seen a UFO will understand, a sort of wide-eyed nonchalance while standing in cold water, waiting to be told what to do next. In all of these accounts, you will find few where the UFO is actually within one mile of the observer; unlike our sighting. Most of the accounts you'll find reveal fireballs that are clearly in the heavens-and thusly meteors. BTW, this concludes my Fire in the Sky series. But don't think this is over.

This next encounter is fascinating and terrifying on different levels. On one level, I could empathize with her comment about the way her encounter affected her well after the event. But this particular event may still be going on (and I strongly suspect that it is):

On 7/26/01 we first saw the unexplained object hovering up in the sky there were 2 I thought nothing of it until my daughter said it was freaky because it would not move so I went to look and yes for about 15 minutes they just hovered we went to the front yard to just look at them one came real close to our home after about an hour it came down hovered then soon after just shot up into the sky they both disappeared. It was so strange and scary I didn't know what to do so I called the news no answer I called the Air Force they said it was nothing but yet 2 minutes later 2 jets flew over.

I was pregnant at the time and you hear so many stories I was afraid that maybe they were here for the baby. I stayed up all night alerted by every sound not knowing what it was. By the morning no news of any sightings were on any news channels.

I did not go to work because I started having light contractions. Me and my children were the only ones out there and the next day I gave birth I was still worried about so called abductions when I was sent back to my room my baby wasn't with me I started to panic and asked the nurse said the doctor would come talk to me. I was terrified not knowing until I asked to see my baby he was in CCU he had a few medical issues water in the lungs and would need to stay a few days. I always wondered if it was because of that night. My kids tease my son that he is an alien baby or we call them our friends now.

Tonight my dog made a weird noise
that made me look out the window and the object is up there I went outside to get a closer look because it had moved to fast and it was gone. I still see some flashing lights up in the sky and wonder if it's the same object.

It looks like a sphere flashing red lights with white like when a firework is set off and it spins. I know that there are lots of weird things but this time I don't know I wish someone else shared the same sighting.

I will wait and see if anyone will ever see the same thing we have seen and what it is or if it wants something.

It was an orange reddish color about SW and going very slowly E and I tried to look for blinking aircraft lights there were none. And it was very strange when it stopped it honestly looked like it caught on fire. I saw remnants falling almost fluid looking and it disappeared.

It was approximately a couple or a few hours after the Mosley vs. Cotton fight. As me and my friend were walking to my car so I can take him home. My friend spotted the object first and told me to look. At first glance I thought it was a balloon because it was round and white, it was hovering pretty low, I told him it looks like a balloon. He disagreed, As I focused in on the object the object started to move very quickly going North west towards East Los Angeles / Monterey Park area, it had blue, white and red lights, Not extremely bright but bright enough to see once your eyes have focused in on it. As the object seemed to be weightless because of the way in was moving, it was moving side to side but still on a straight path, we observed till the object faded out. We were in the area of Whittier Blvd and Montebello Blvd @ approximately 11:00 pm

Dripping ball of light

I was driving down some back streets which made the sky really dark. I had the sunroof open that night just to enjoy the night. While driving I looked up through the sunroof and noticed a fairly large orange, reddish, yellow ball in the night sky. It caught my attention because it was too large to be a star. When I realized that it wasn’t a star or plane I was stunned. I pulled over without taking my eyes off this thing and before I could park it began to drip like a candle. I almost crashed! I got out tripping over my own foot and stood still looking at this crazy site. It dripped again and again!! The drips burned as they fell from this object. What was this ball of light dripping like a candle? It began to change colors (orange/yellow/red) and flickered. Suddenly it flickered out!! Amazing!! All of a sudden it comes back on!! Flickers for a minute and goes out like it was never there. I was stunned. This light was very large to be a star and very hard to miss.

In my effort to find other UFO fireballs (Please refer to my first article in this series, called Great Ball of Fire) in the Whittier Narrows and surrounding area, I was stunned to find so many UFO sightings in the area—almost every month going back at least five years. What’s even more stunning; the large amount of UFO fireball sightings. It’s staggering to think, these accounts are mostly from regular people reporting to Law Enforcement, so there must be many more UFO sightings not reported. Case-in-point: we never reported our fireball to the police. For the sake of brevity I’ve selected only those accounts that most closely resembled our sighting. Also, sightings that were clearly meteors were excluded.

It’s fascinating to hear other people’s sightings. Some are scant and others rich in detail. The first one wasn’t even a month ago!

I was riding on the Metro link from San Bernardino to the Cal State LA station, seated on the side of the train looking south. Listening to music and watching the scenery pass by I looked up to the sky at about a 35 to 45 degree angle and saw what at first I took to be an airliner that was traveling east to west.I quickly realized that the shape was not right and that it was not a more whitish color. It had more of a gray metallic look, and there seemed to be no wings. This happened rather fast and when I wanted to try to study it more the train passed a few buildings that blocked my view, and when the train passed the buildings, it was gone.

Orb hovers for more than an hour

I was golfing at Rio Hondo golf course. Our tee time was 9:30. While walking to the second tee I looked up into the sky because the course is in the airports flight path. While looking up (about 75 degrees upward) and facing North, I noticed a shiny orb in the sky. I told my friend, who had a hard time seeing it without polarized sunglasses. As I continued to look around, another one appeared higher and to the left of the first. And finally a third appears almost directly overhead. The second and third one stayed for about 10 minutes. However, the first one I spotted stayed within visual range (never moving from its relative position) for more than an hour.

My lady & I witnessed an orange light floating like a balloon moving. Then stopped moving, for about 20sec nothing happened until a streak of light shot out from directly under object like a fireball disappearing. Then the object started flickering proceeding to float farther away when it divided up into about 4-6 individual lights. from that point the individual lights started blasting off one by one at a 45degree angle like a fireball towards the sky disappearing.

Thick bright light travels across southern California then disappears?

I went outside just to look at the night sky for no particular reason, and then I saw a thick bright light heading in the direction of north east. It was traveling very slowly, at first I thought it was an aircraft, and then I realized it had no blinking lights then about 3 seconds later it completely faded away. I have no idea nor explanation what it could of been, I know I have pretty good judgment to separate fact or fiction, but this light that completely disappear after traveling very slow completely baffled me.

Great Ball of Fire!: More Fireballs?

A UFO sighting would have been unusual by its nature. Not many people I’ve spoken to actually have seen something that couldn’t be explained as a satellite or aircraft. Indeed, many have seen “something”, but when pressed, often explain it away themselves. I have to admit, I've secretly hoped to meet a person who has seen a "real UFO".

The feeling

The accounts I’ve seen on TV etc., mostly show UFOs as generally in the Flying Saucer or V-shape category. I've even read about cigar-shaped craft and metal spheres. And all of these appear to be at least solid in appearance; could even be piloted by some alien teeny bopper clandestinely taking his father’s tube for a joyride.

Nay, what we saw was a monstrous fireball! (Please read the first article in this series Fire in the Sky for even more weirdness.)

If I didn’t have a witness to my UFO sighting, I might have doubted the event ever happened at all. I’d never heard of a "UFO Fireball”, leave alone one hovering over the ground for any prolonged period of time-especially one that “shape-shifted” from a small point of light.

After all, from the time of our sighting, I’ve only heard of one other fireball sighting, years ago, and it was moving rapidly. As I began to relive the moments and feels surrounding our close encounter, for this blog, I began to really wonder if others had seen similar objects in the same area, basically my home town area at the time.

So I began to dig, and was shocked to uncover the large number and frequency of fireball sightings in the Whittier (California) area, let alone the hundreds of other UFO sightings in the same area alone. Strangely, in reading these accounts I was overcome with a sense of relief, shock, wonder then an odd feeling that has no name. Many other people have experienced close encounters similar UFO fireballs!

Great Ball of Fire!: The Return

I want to see a real UFO like this.

I want to the that frightening Fireball again; or do I? No, on second thought I don't ever want to see something so frightening, so dangerous and something I may not survive "next time" again.

On the other hand, my friend, my only witness Orlando, did say that he thought this was not the last time he would see something in the sky again. He didn't seem to be impressed by what he said. I wouldn't mind seeing a "real" flying saucer, but a fire ball?

What haunts me is the orb started off looking very much like a regular street light and was moving at about 20-30 mile per hour (not really fast) horizontally across and along the river in the opposite direction (although it was difficult to tell because I was walking toward the south). How could it start off so small and end as a gigantic fireball. Here is a progression of stills I put together to study the UFO's trajectory. Note the "orangery" of the lights. This is where the UFO came from.

Below the "YouTubed" version. It's an edited version of a little bit of tape we shot at the site where I and my friend Orlando experienced our sighting. Something strange-even for a UFO! This video is us, excitedly returning to the site of our close encounter, trying to describe the object we saw; and contemplating the scene. It was eerie because we were not entirely sure if we would see the fiery orb again.

Also, I wonder, if any particles from this burning object touched our bodies. It was radiant and large. It burned for up to two minutes in front of us. Were we somehow touched by this monster?

Great Ball of Fire!: “What was it?”

February 18, 2009, 8.00 PM: At this point my friend and I are standing on the edge of a dark river together observing a light in the cold eight o’clock sky. After traveling north and ascending, the UFO began slowly approaching our direction. A minute or two later, the object stops across the river to our left about ¾ of a mile away, when it revealed itself as a fire ball, and burns up without proceeding any further or making any sound (not even a “burning” sound). For some reason I wasn’t afraid as I observed it from being a pinpoint of orange light to the pulsating orange-white blob in the air. I began fretting when it was clear that this UFO was a fire ball and it was getting close to us. (Please refer to Fire in the Sky and Fire in the Sky: The Location)

The question has always been “what was it”? I have come up with two theories, one fun and the other not so. The first theory (the "not so fun") is the “fire ball UFO” was methane outburst from the landfill that for awhile the UFO passed right in front of. It's in an area where the is evidently an incinerator that burns methane on the hill. I know this because I've hiked the area and have seen the fire in the holes in the building-one night. It was impressive. It was like the “mouth of Hell”. The problem with this theory, however, is that when I first observed the object it was pretty much moving, flying or hovering close to the ground as a small bright orange light. This light appeared to come very close to the river, then ascended. We observed it for a awhile in the air before it descended and burned-up. A fire ball or flame blasted from the methane burner would have burned-up long before it had time to do anything. Even if it had mass, garbage doesn’t fly.

So that leaves us with theory number two: it was a balloon. No, not a weather balloon, but a hot air balloon-like device generally referred to as a "Sky Lantern". It can “fly” high and move around for awhile. Check out the video. I must say this comes close to what our UFO looked like at one point.

There is a problem with this theory also ; the object we saw was enormous. At least the size of a house. Also, while the object was burning it dropped ash or what appeared to be hot molten something. Lastly, from the very beginning of my observance, it never looked like it was wavering or wafting. In fact, it appeared to be moving in straight "determined" lines. Imagine what I have just described compared to the relatively small object that the Lantern Makers are flying. Running out of theories over here anybody out there have any?

Great Ball of Fire!: The Location

If you have ever seen a UFO, you never forget it, or stop thinking about it. It isn't like any other event. Because of the implications, a UFO, especially a strange one, can haunt you; if you saw it at night, add more luminance and strangeness. If you have had an encounter, the drive to find out everything about your sighting: "who else saw it, and what did they see? What was it? Where exactly did it happen?" etc., can be compelling.

But the first thing I wanted to establish was where we sighted it, so I dialed-up Google Earth. After some triangulation, I came up with coordinates. Below is the areal map:

Notice the markings. The point near the power line tower is where we saw the fireball stop and burn up. I cannot be completely be sure that it actually stopped, but it appeared to. Why did it stop? This area is just north of the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area. As you can see, the 605 Freeway snakes down within yards of the UFO area. This is a very well traversed freeway at all hours-being part of the L.A. area freeway system. The point is, at least scores of people on the freeway would have had to have seen the fireball hovering above them. Where are these people? This was a vision from Hell that was close to the ground, close to homes and stables and close to us!

Great Ball of Fire!

On February 18, 2009, in the 8:00 PM darkness, my friend Orlando and I were hiking the bike trail along the west bank of the San Gabriel River. We started from Peck Road and proceeded north (Toward the San Gabriel Mountains). When we got to about a quarter mile passed the Pomona (60) Freeway, we decided to turn back.

First in a Series

Orlando went ahead of me, as he wanted to walk faster to exercise a bit. After several minutes I glanced across the river to observe a scene that included the shadows of trees and various lights behind them; including street lights and bill boards near the freeway about a half away—if that. As most street lights nowadays, they appeared almost amber or orange.

Suddenly I saw what at first appeared to be one of those "amber" street lights start moving toward the North (the opposite direction) along the other bank in the distance. It would have had to be very low to the ground for me to have to look twice to see if one of those street lights was somehow moving, as if I were seeing things—I was.

This light appeared to be orange and very bright, eerie and alien. As it moved it must have been ascending, but early on it was moving or floating quite parallel to ground. I realized that it was probably in front of the trees on the other bank very close—probably a little farther than a quarter mile.

I began to run down the bike path (South) toward Orlando. I wanted him, or anybody else to see this with me. By this time very far in front of me around a bend so I couldn't see him. It seems like I ran a long time to catch up with him. As I got closer and closer to him, I yelled several times for him to stop. When he finally did I ran up to him pointing to the object that was by this time floating high in the sky, and said: “Orlando what’s that? What’s that? Is it a helicopter? A UFO? Jesus! Is that a helicopter?” He replied “no it’s not”. We both observed it for a minute; it and it appeared to be heading somewhat in our direction. He said “what is it?” I said I don’t know. It was mesmerizing.

By this time the object seemed bigger and it had no particular shape, more like a "round" but amorphous in nature. It was bright and moved through the air slowly and appeared to change from orange to white and it appeared hot. It looked like a hot blob in a lava lamp. As we observed it was definitely getting closer. I could actually see flames; it was definitely on fire. I began to get frightened because it looked like it was turning toward us.

But suddenly, it appeared to stop about a half mile away, on the other bank of the river near a power tower. It made no sound, it just burned. It was enormous. Then it started to burn out. The fire was ending. It was as if sections of it were burning off one by one. As it burned it was dropping what appeared to be the burnt remnants, like any other thing burning out.

As it burned away I tried to look in the area in the low sky where the UFO fireball had just been, thinking I’d see what caused the flames or if I could see anything at all. But I didn’t see anything else. Also, there were no clouds were the object burned away and no smell, like there would have been if fireworks had exploded there. But no, it simply vanished.

We couldn't stop thinking about it for days, and even now I see it, in my mind, almost every day.
