YA2U - Bring Five YA Authors To YOUR City

2013-01-02T02:17:00.001-08:00

Have you ever wished that a big YA book tour would make a stop in your hometown? Well, here's your chance for that wish to come true! YA2U is a program that features five award-winning and best-selling authors who are holding a contest to see what city they should visit in an exclusive tour stop!

The authors are collecting votes from January 1 to February 15, and any city in the continental US or any Canadian city that has an international airport can win an exclusive visit from all five authors, including an author panel and book signing! Entering is super easy--and if you help spread the word about the contest, you can also enter win a signed copy of all of their books (TEN signed books in total!)--and the book contest is open internationally!

The authors in the program are

Marie Lu, the New York Times best-selling author of Legend and the upcoming Prodigy
Marissa Meyer, the New York Times best-selling author of Cinder and the upcoming Scarlet
Beth Revis, the New York Times best-selling author of Across the Universe, A Million Suns, and the upcoming Shades of Earth
Victoria Schwab, author of The Near Witch and the highly-anticipated upcoming The Archived
Megan Shepherd, author of the debut novel The Madman's Daughter

And they want to have an event in your home town! To participate, just got to the YA2U website and let them know what city you want them to come to. And while you're there, help spread the word about the contest and you can be entered to win all of their books--TEN signed books in total!

Here's why the YA2U Team should come to MY hometown!

Not only does Ottawa have a lot of fantastic YA book bloggers and fans, but we also rarely get events like this. It would also be my pleasure to introduce the lovely authors to the Canadian treasure known as poutine.

Why should the YA2U Team come to your hometown? Why not join in the fun today and share with others about this program and your hometown. The more votes your town gets, the closer you are to having your very own personal tour stop! Vote for YOUR town here!

And if you help spread the word, you can also participate in the book giveaway. Tell them that you learned about YA2U from me and we both get extra entries in the contest!

New Kindles Coming Soon!

2012-09-07T21:00:00.000-07:00

Christmas is definitely around the corner. I just opened Amazon's website and this was on the Homepage:

Dear Customers,
Today we're excited to introduce the all-new Kindle Fire HD.
Kindle Fire HD 8.9" 4G isn't just the best tablet for the price, it's the best tablet. $499 now gets you a large-screen HD tablet with a stunning 8.9" display, exclusive Dolby audio, dual stereo speakers, the fastest Wi-Fi, ultra-fast 4G LTE wireless, plus our new unprecedented $49.99 one-year 4G data package. Customers save hundreds of dollars in the first year compared to other 4G tablets. Kindle Fire HD 8.9" is also available in a Wi-Fi only model for $299.
Kindle Fire HD is the world's most-advanced 7" tablet, with a stunning HD display, plus the same exclusive Dolby audio, dual stereo speakers, the fastest Wi-Fi, and 16 GB of storage. Kindle Fire HD is just $199.
We are also introducing the world's most advanced e-readers, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite 3G.
You'll do a double take when you see Kindle Paperwhite—we've added 62% more pixels and increased contrast by 25%, so whites are whiter, and blacks are blacker. We've also added a revolutionary built-in front light for the perfect reading experience whether you're out at the beach or at home in bed. Kindle Paperwhite starts from just $119. Kindle Paperwhite 3G is available for $179 with free 3G wireless—never pay for or hunt for a Wi-Fi hotspot. We've also updated our smallest, lightest Kindle with improved fonts and 15% faster page turns—it now starts at just $69.
Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Paperwhite are each in a class by themselves when it comes to hardware—there's nothing better. But the real magic is that they are also a service. When combined with our enormous content ecosystem, unmatched cross-platform interoperability and standard-setting customer service, we hope people will agree these are the best tablets and e-readers anywhere, at any price.
Thank you for being a customer,

Jeff Bezos
Founder & CEO

I think some readers would want to receive one this coming Christmas? *wink* I got one for my birthday last May and I'm quite enjoying the e-reading experience. I'm still all for printed books, but I support reading in any form, especially if it would get more people to read. :)

I would definitely recommend having an e-reader to your wishlist this year, especially if your bookshelf is overflowing like mine. *wink*

The final two of the YA Crush Tourney (of The YA Sisterhood) has been decided. It's down to smexy Jace of The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare and Zach of Shift and Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready. It's a good match and a battle we must win, shadowhunters.

Why? Because if Jace wins, Cassandra Clare promised to give us something as a gift...(see here to know what and be excited, motivated to vote).

Cassie will also throw in the following to help inspire her readers and Jace lovers to vote:

b) A substantial teaser of a *spicy* scene from CP. Tessa & ..someone. ;) Because why should ID be left out?

Bonus: If Jace wins by more than a thousand votes, I'll post one of Magnus&Alec's kissing scenes from CoLS. ;)

herondales | tumblr

3) And finally, if Jace wins, I'll donate $500 dollars to Reading Is Fundamental, the same charity that the Mortal Instruments jewelry store supports. http://www.etsy.com/shop/hebelmet

So spread the word and vote for Jace in The YA Sisterhood's YA Crush Tourney. THE VOTING IS NOW OPEN (for 23hours only)! This is the final match, guys. We shouldn't let Jace down and doubt his out of this world hotness.

And because Jace won over the Winter Prince of Julie Kagawa, Cassie fulfilled her promise to share with us the much anticipated POV of Jace in the Manor Collapse scene in COG.

Warning: IT'S HOT.
