Family Trip to Hong Kong

It was almost 10 degrees C cold in Hong Kong when we went there on January 18-21, 2011. It was the first time for the family to travel together abroad. I congratulated myself for doing research and gathering data on what clothes to bring, otherwise it would have turned out to be mostly indoor pics. Thumbs up for me!

We were not able to see all the sights in Hong Kong because of time constraints. With teenage boys around, four of us sharing a room and T&B, we were slow. On our first day, we went to Ngong Ping 360 where my kids enjoyed the breath taking cable car ride. At Ngong Ping, you can find a giant Buddha. Our second day in Hong Kong was spent at Disneyland. We had so much fun there because Disneyland is not only for kids but for the young at heart as well. Third day, we were at Ocean Park, where the dolphin show drew a huge crowd. On the evenings, we visited The Peak and we watched the symphony of lights at Victoria Harbour.

All in all, it was great bonding moments with our children. It was their first time to travel abroad and I'm sure they will not be able to forget the wonderful memories there

By the way, the Octopus Card was very convenient to use. You won't have to carry around coins and cash and to need to line up for the ticketing machine. It helps if you are going to stay in Hong Kong for at least four days. You can use it on the MTR, most buses, and even at conveninece stores. It's easy to reload. You can just go to any Customer Service counters at any MTR station to load value. 7-11 also can load value.

Boracay Awaits You!

I'd love to go to Boracay every summer. For a lot of reasons, this is not really possible. But whenever I go there, I really, really savor the moments with the crystal clear water and white fine sands. Comes February 28, 2011, the family is going again to this wonderful beach.

It's very convenient to go to Boracay. It takes an hour by air from Manila. Two domestic carriers, Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific Air have regular daily routes to Caticlan, from where you take a 10-minute banca going to this heavenly spot.

There's a wide array of activities to choose from. There's island hopping, banana boat ride, snorkelling, and a lot more. Boracay is even more fun at night.

Nice To Be Back

It feels good to be back here in my haven. It's been a long time since I last posted. Lots of things have been happening in my life especially on the financial side. Now, I can already boast of some financial gains (wow!).. I hope I could share it here someday when I find time.

For now, suffice it to say I'm back and will be here for a long time. By the way, I have pre-loved items I am selling at this site:

I Caught the Running Bug

I have always hated jogging. I couldn't stand putting my lungs into a lot of hard work. But more recently, I got interested in joining races. The first one I joined was a 5 kilometer race at Mc Kinley Hill, Fort Bonifacio. It was for breastfeeding awareness. It was really fun, despite the fact that I did not train properly for it. I did manage to finish the race in 45 minutes. yeah, that was slow for me I know. But at 38, that is still something LOL.

The next race I joined in was the HSBC run, on November 5, 2010. This was in Bonifacio Global City. I clocked a better record this time at 39:45. I was realyl proud of myself for this achievement. I have included a coupe of pics of mine in this page. I use Nathan hydration belt when I did both races, also I slipped into my K-Swiss K-Ona yellow shoes which are really very light and comfy. I highly recommend this brand. I also bought a Polar watch so I could monitor my heart rate while running.

I intend to join some more fun runs. Hopefully, to establish my 10K record someday. My graduate studies are taking up most of my time lately so there's not much time left for interval runs and tempo runs.

My biggest, Wildest Purchase

OMG, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag. A Hampstead MM in damier canvass.
Then I felt guilty. Then I appeased myself that I shall only pass this way but once.

Funny, how we(ladies) justify our purchases. Then I keep telling myself that I deserved it for working so hard.

A fetish for bags, most women have it. Men can hardly understand why we love bags so much.

As for me, I will really really treasure my LV. It's going to stay with me for many many years.

Crossing my fngers I won't buy another one..

A Home maker's Wish List

For two months now, I was able to survive without a house maid. I am so into domestic chores already that I actually started enjoying dish washing, ironing, doing laundry and cooking food for my two little angels. I realized I just needed to manage my time well and to devote equal attention to all the chores. Not to mention that I visit ptc sites in between house chores. I salute myself. This is an achievement.

I know house tasks can just be a breeze if I have the right equipment at the right place. So here's a list of what I want to have in the near, near future. The sooner, the better.

1. Whirlpool automatic laundry machine. Better if this machine will fold the clothes after laundry...
2. A huge refrigerator with a separate cubicle for a freezer. Better if no defrost needed huh..

House Maid Eliminated

It is considered a luxury already if a Filipino family could afford to hire a household helper - someone who does the laundry, cooks food and does all the other household chores. House maids could either be your angel or something else. Some home makers are lucky enough to have a very reliable one, while others unfortunately had been stolen from. In my case, I've had pleasant and unpleasant experiences too with the "maids" that have come and gone in my house. There were some who really got on my nerves. I could go on and on with a list of a maid's peculiar behavior when she is under employment. I had one who practically controls the TV! As if our choice of tv shows did not matter anymore. There were also others who made me cry because I didn't want them to go, but they had to go.

They could come up with a host of reasons why they are leaving your household. After a week of training, sometimes they just decide to just quit the job. I finally decided not to hire one again, so I could really be on my own at home, tinkering with my own kitchen gadgets, and doing my own laundry. Besides, I believe that these household chores can help me achieve my ten thousand steps daily requirement for fitness (for which I bought a pedometer).

It was hard for the first few days, but I found the rhythm already, so I am now comfortable with the idea that when I leave the house in mess, I will come back to it in the same condition. But then again, since my house maid left, I have saved on food, electricity, water, phone bills, and other grocery items. I don't know yet how long I can survive without one, especially now that graduate school is opening this semester.

A New Discovery

A year ago, I decided to have a DSL connection at home so that my kids could easily access the internet for their school requirements. That was just the main reason. Little did I know that the internet provides a host of on-line income opportunities that were totally unknown to me. It bridges time and space. Whoa, what a discovery for me. At my age, I would say I am really a late bloomer - kinda discovered a lot of things late in my life.

And so, I have started the habit of facing my laptop every morning to check on sites where I could earn. I have a regular job but it is not really enough to get me what I need and what I want. I have found some good paying sites, I have been scammed as well. But everyday is a new learning experience day and I am a work in progress.

There's still unlimited income potential out there waiting for me to discover.
