Shia's Homemade Granola, Penang

When you walk or ride pass this shop, you can't help but stop and have a look and then have a closer look. The goodies that are displayed and the artistry on the outside is attractive and inviting.

For me, it's already inviting because I have tasted the granola bars from Shia's Granola since last November and I still love it. At that time, it was right out from Alishia's kitchen, the proprietor. I bought from her occasionally and then my sister came to like it too after I let her try a bar. I have tried those boxes of bars off the rack and I didn't seem to like any of it , either it's too chewy or too sweet or something that just didn't go right with me. I am not exaggerating.

My favourite is the chocolate flavour but they have other flavours as well. I like it with milk or soya milk. Just check out their page below for a full menu.

This is what I had for my tea break on my first visit to the shop. Dragon fruit, pear, banana coupled with granolas, chia seeds, and yogurt. It was refreshing, tasty and of course healthy.

Such a good quote and we all really need to be educated about taking care of our bodies. It may seem literally impossible in a food paradise of Penang, however we can always strike a balance between healthy good food and just any tasty food. It is a matter of selection and timing and a conscious effort to seek out what suits our taste and our lifestyle.

Say hello to the owners of Shia's Granola. The ones who do what they preach. Ke Wynn is a personal fitness trainer and wife Alishia is the chef behind Shia's Granola. All this started in 2013, when Alishia didn't quite fancy the granolas that the family bought back from the store and started to make her own and soon enough, friends started ordering. The story develops from there and now births their very own shop. It used to be their photo studio but now a kitchen for making delectable granolas. Creativity is in the genes, I remember Alishia's father used to make photo frames and I can see where Alishia has gotten her artistic and creativity from.

We had a good chat although short about healthy lifestyles and the trends. We all are trying, some do it better than others and so, encouraging each other definitely helps more.

I bought this cute little thing, it reminds me of baby food : ) and it was for my dinner as I have classes back to back in the evening. It is called Apple Mango chia seed pudding. I took this right before my protein shake. I love it! I love yummy, simple, convenient meals when it comes to heavy scheduled days.

Eastern Garden Restaurant specializes on Chinese cuisine and does not serve food with MSG. Miss Tan, one of the proprietor and chef is fastidious when it comes to preparation of the food and seeks to prepare healthy, tasty dishes. If you are use to the taste of MSG in your food, then it will take awhile to acquire a taste you might deem lesser but it is actually the opposite. Everything will taste as it is without the mask of MSG.

Occasionally they have dishes that are not mentioned in the menu and one of that dish that we had was Dragon Fruit chicken. Instead of the usual orange, mango sauce we usually have else where, dragon fruit was definitely my first and it was really good with the chicken. My other fancy is the homemade beancurd with pumpkin sauce.

Even though my trip to KL was a bit tight, was glad to be able to drop in a friends restaurant. Thankfully it wasn't too far off from where I stay. And having a friend who is good with driving around KL was a blessing.

There are ample parking spaces along the road and they are open for lunch and dinner.

I may have intended to go to a new restaurant but once I entered I felt I was going to a friend's big dining hall. I suppose I am : ). The first thing that caught my eyes was the portrait of this two cute little ones and then a summary of what Kith and Kin meant for them. If I may take another minute of your time to read what it means in Kith and Kin in Macmillan dictionary.

The portrait of the two kids belong to the proprietors husband and wife Kevin and Celyn. The second thing I noticed is that the interior is spacious and wide, with a corner just for the kiddies to entertain themselves while parents enjoy their meals. Now, this is a plus point they have compared to other cafes.

Another hall of fame in the house as seen in the picture below. The array of family photographs hung on the wall were exquisite and warm altogether.It's cool how they share their lives as part of their business. Thumbs up!

For those who are health conscious - there is NO MSG served in the meals.

The main meals can be converted into a set meal with additional RM6.90 and that includes ice lemon tea, soup and ice cream. If you would like to have coffee on top of that, then just add RM3.90.

The ice lemon tea does not include sugar therefore the little cup of sugar syrup is accompanied to suit your sweetness level.

Aside from the main meal, some of us shared their signature salad. Indeed it's delectable. The orange makes it sweet coupled with some crunchy onions, capsicum,roasted almonds flakes etc.

The Lamb Cutlet is the best so far on this visit. The tenderness of the meat with the mango and mint compote just does it all. The plate was cleaned out so I suppose you know what that means.

The Herb Lemon Butter Baramundi was pleasant with light buttery taste. The fish was fresh and fluff if I could put it in my layman term. There wasn't a strong herb flavor for those who likes it done this way.

Stuffed Chicken is stuffed with mushroom and leek served with side salad and salted egg cream sauce. It sounds unique and it is surprisingly tasty. I would recommend to those who fancy salted egg to give this a try.

Grill Salsa Chicken as the name suggest is tomato based, It is served with mash of the day , sautéed vegetables and homemade salsa.

Here was the last that came for a friend who came later, Grilled Salmon. Also served with mash of the day, sautéed vegetables and lemon honey mustard sauce.

Last but not the least here is Frances with her pasta dish - Smoked Salmon Linguine.

To end the night is the last thing on the set menu is the vanilla ice cream to sweeten our tooth.

Le Perigord first opened in January 2016, a casual dining place but with a feel of semi-fine to fine dining setting. High ceiling and exquisitely decorated with a tinge of colorful pictures. I came during lunch time and there was only set lunches available. Set lunch comes with soup, main course and a drink and it's reasonably priced.

It's a nice place for gathering and parties and the best part is you're able to bring your own wine without being charged corkage. As you can see bottles above the bar, there are empty bottles from customers after their dinner. 'Souvenirs' on the shelf. Cool.

Overall, I enjoyed the dishes. Aglio Olio would be according to personal preference in my opinion. As there are different styles to cook it. I for one like the Italian style the most.

The chef does custom specialized orders for RM50 and above, no minimum pax required.

Iyara Thai Cuisine is situated at Level 2 next to Starbucks, Karpal Singh Drive , Penang. The place is usually very pack, therefore advanced booking is needed. There were quite a number of us so we did get to try a variety of dishes as shown in the pictures.

The Meng Kam dish below is a Thai appetizer most will have before the rest of the dishes. Something sweet,spicy and sour right before the main course.

The duck was delicious, it doesn't have a smell and its skin is a bit crisp. The fish meat was fresh, cooked well and the soup was a bit spicy and sour but splendid combination.

Tang Hoon was exceptionally nice, coming from a person who do not fancy Tang Hoon much. Well, my favourite coriander was a good add on for me and the big prawns too but the price was also a handsome one : )

The portion of the vegetable was little considering the price but it was tasty.

We had some desserts and it was sweet to the soul.

Overall, it was an enjoyable meal in taste although the waiting of the food was took quite a while.

What do you do when the trip is short and no time for shopping? Eat ! So we were at 1 Utama for lunch and we were famished and about to be on our way back to Penang. We insisted that we have to try something good and one that does not exist in Penang and so we walked almost half hour looking for the right one.

We came across Ante, and it was just perfect. A premier pork steak restaurant. Although the waiting was quite awhile, we were comfortably seated and relaxed and we were not disappointed. This is by far the best pork based, western style restaurant I've ever been to.

Nice, quaint, chic layout of the place and their array of wines are bountiful as you can see in the picture.

The first dish that came was Pork Diane, seared pork loin with Russet potatoes, button mushrooms, green pea mash(love it), and white wine cream sauce. Delicious!

Another signature dish is the Chargrilled Pork Steak, which comes also with Russet potatoes and then cherry tomatoes, honey glazed rockets and truffle sauce(love the sauce). Everything was cooked to perfection and I liked the idea that they glazed the rockets with honey as it is usually abit bitter. Delectable!

Here comes the Chinese/Western style spaghetti - Char Siu Curry Cream. That was the most different dish under the pasta group therefore this was picked. This is house made marinated Char Siu with shimeiji mushrooms and grilled eggplants. Excellent!

There was one more thing we wanted to try but unfortunately it was not available so we settled for coffee, a prep for a long drive home. The coffee was good with the right amount of milk in my latte. I wasn't so fond of the mocha only but if you like more cocoa than coffee then it might just suit you. I like it more balanced and skewed towards coffee/espresso.

The only marble table I spotted with the chair that I liked. Mmm..

The story of the name 3 Leg Cat is a memory that is greatly remembered by close friends of the proprietor Ted Soo. As a child, Ted told his friends that he had a three legged cat at home. In actual fact,he doesn't. However, the friends believed he has one for a long time, until one day they found out otherwise when they visited his home. And it's a lingering memory that stayed with the friends till today. A funny story that's brought up in their hang outs conversation. That is why he chose this name as a significance of his childhood.

3 Leg Cat cafe is a cosy, fine place at Golden Triangle, Relau. The food menu will be expanding very soon and as for now, you can enjoy some Western and Asian style cuisine. Try some Shakerato lattes and other coffee delights, the barista is the owner himself Ted. He is also a chef but he lets his trusted chefs handle his kitchen.

Videogamers would love the place as there is a spot specially for gaming. Nice spot for reading books in the afternoon. A little blurred preview in the picture with my mocha Shakerato.

Of all the food that I have tasted, Special Grill Tennessee Chicken would be my top most likable as the chicken is tender, cooked to perfection indeed. The mash and the sauce complements the chicken very well.

There are quite a few new places at Tanjung Bungah,and one of the latest is Lebanon. Well this post is almost a month late but better late than never. This is a venue for parties, get togethers, and even small function as they have a well spaced room for private functions upstairs.

The decor is exquisite all around and the ambience is so inviting.

In food business, service is of utmost importance and I can say kudos to the staffs of Lebanon for making our small birthday party a pleasant one.

Loved every dish that we ordered that night including the drinks. Good recommendations by the server.

A lot of things need not be said except go try it if you like Middle East cuisine but there are other cuisines like northern Indian, Italian included. Always ask for recommendations to find what suits your taste, at least they can advise you with further details.

Coffee Elements is not a new face in Penang and it is still going on strong . The recent good news I heard from one of the proprietor is that Coffee Element is going to open another outlet in Kuala Lumpur, the first over there. In Penang, there are existing two outlets, one in All Seasons, Air Itam and another in Gurney Paragon, Gurney Drive.(info at the bottom)

A refreshing drink to begin with and a healthy one indeed.I couldn't help but remove some of the minty leaves to eat with my dish too. And then we had a big portion of salad. Fresh and crisp leafy vegetables coupled with cherry tomatoes and olives. Balsamic olive oil dressing is best to go with salad for me instead of the usual thousand island dressing. Thumbs up to Coffee Element for giving us the option.

Honey Mustard Chicken and Chicken with Cream Mushroom are highly recommended. First of all, I liked that they serve with lots of fresh salads at the side in both the dishes. The Honey Mustard Chicken is crispy and tender on the inside. It goes well with the honey mustard sauce. The chicken thigh of the Chicken with mushroom cream is tasty to the core. And the citrus taste of the orange cubes with the salad is complementing and makes it all very whole for me.

Cakes are all freshly baked homemade and there are around 3 choices to choose from. I have tried quite abit of their coffee selections except the cold ones. The hot ones like latte,flavored latte and mocha and also the chocolate drinks are enjoyable. You might see more when you visit my blog's facebook page. And I usually go to Coffee Element, Gurney Paragon as its more convenient for me, but hopefully one day they will have the same food selections too in Paragon.

At long last, Mizi Bistro has graced us with their opening in the South Penang.

They have a wide selection of poultry, fish and local cuisines and the main meal can be made as set express lunch or set meals as shown right at the bottom of this post. Set meals comes with free flow of ice cream.

Ordering my fancies at Mizi, their signature mushroom soup and chickne lasagna. Some of us have been patronizing their cafe since they started their JL cafe in Prangin Mall 3rd floor. Ever since, they have opened Mizi Bistro at Tesco, Seri Tanjung and another at New World Park. Only of recent, they have moved the one at New World Park to Crystal Point, Bayan Lepas.

A random search for a cafe nearby in georgetown and here we were at the Haven Harbour just right behind Giant Supermarket. It is a corner cafe at Chyme Heritage, Nagore Square.

As we entered, all I saw was high chairs and tables. Not that I really mind,I just wanted the normal seating scenario. Probably due to my hesitation, the waiter read my mind and offered us a place upstairs. I love it upstairs except for my heels making sounds on their floor. Lol!
We took a mixture of set lunch and also from breakfast menu.

I will make a summarisation as overall I'm happy with the food, drinks, service and environment. The only thing I was a little disappointed is the creme brulee as it was not to my liking. As usual, if there is creme brulee in the menu and room in my tummy, I will order it.

It's a great place for gathering although upstairs there's abit of an echo so everyone can hear everyone. Unimportant I suppose, an upside for netters as there is free wifi. Self service to the free flow of skyjuice with lemon. Something that I appreciate very much. It's so nice of them to gave cold and lukewarm options.

Yella Fork , a cuisine fusion by Australian and Malaysian recipes sets it's ground here recently around a month plus ago. I went in wanting to try their best selection and I believe I did. We were greeted by the owner and head chef of Yella Fork Julian Ooi who was trained in Australia and she's back here collaborating with her brother on delivering Penang a taste from the Down Under.

Starting out with a pleasant latte and cappucino(Fairtrade coffee) and interestingly 50% profit goes to save rainforest in Sabah and Sarawak, 50% goes to the coffee bean farmers in Australia. Something new to my knowledge in the coffee industry.

Moving on to the belly-heartwarming food, here we have the springroll and we got to try their lemon pepper homemade sauce which I liked. A little of sour and tinge of spice in it. It goes well with the salad but I dipped my springroll in it as well. Then the mushroom soup of medium thickness and pleasingly tasty.

Here comes the signature dishes which I quote Julian 'everything is good to me' when I asked which is their signature dish. So, to be specific we picked their Roasted Pork Belly, the pork belly was marinated for 24 hours and the verdict? It was crispy at the side, tender on the inside. Excellent!

Pie in the sky is a chicken pie and its made out from an Australian recipe. Lovin' this and nowadays its hard to come by a good filling chicken pie. I remembered a friend's mom who made fantastic chicken pie when I was in high school and since then every other chicken pie seem mundane.

At Yella Fork, the sauce seems to complement with the pie. I had a hearty balanced meal.

The sets are pretty flexible and the prices are reasonably priced and no additional taxes included at this time.

It's been quite awhile that I have wanted to try this place. My ex-piano student used to work there as one of the assistants in the kitchen and I heard great feedback about it.

The Eighty Eight Restaurant that was previously located at Kelawai Road has moved (address at the end of the post). The ambiance and setting of the restaurant is classy yet quaint.

Look out for the flower signboard 'cos the word Eighty Eight is tiny when you are driving.

Carrot Soup

The soup was creamy and tasty. I put a little pepper to spice it up to my liking. Clams was the entree dish and it was really good, wish there was more. I could slurp up the entire bowl if I want to.(but no I did not, its fine dining ; ))

The main dish was Paprika Chicken. The chicken was soft, tender, a little burnt on the skin but no worries. It was fairly good. The beef steak however is commendable. Tender, juicy , cooked just right and the accompanied potato was delicious. Though the price was a tad bit high but for a fine dining setting, its to be expected.

As for the drink, I chose coffee over tea and it was made by the Coffee Lane crew. Excellent for those who are into siphon type of coffee. I took half without milk and the rest with milk. Just for fun. By the way, Coffee Lane has a new premise at the end of the restaurant. A cosy corner for those who are interested in quality coffee. I used to go a few times when it was at its previous venue.

For Eighty Eight ,If you like to order extra drinks, you can order from the drinks menu. Sky juice is charged at RM 1.00 but its refillable so that's good.

Tucked within a breezy, cosy area in Hammer Bay is Paris in Penang. Hailed from Paris himself, Mr.Amrani has a kiosk selling french crepes as seen in the menu below. It's only been about 3 months but soon there will be some changes to the layout with some extension of roof and lighting. Hope to visit again, because I simply enjoy the taste.

I love it, the first one I tried was the La Banana, with banana slices and coupled with ice cream and other inconspicuous but flavorful ingredients. And the next is new in the upcoming menu, Choco Crispy. Choco Crispy is heavy with peanuts, and if you are not allergic to nuts and love the crunchiness of it, do try this. It's all delicious to the core, From the pancake itself to the sauces and of course the ice cream that adds the extra kick.

Clockwise Place is a 3 month old cosy cafe cum hostel that serves reasonable food courtesy of Ukrainian recipe. The place is vibrant with colours and with clocks, pictures, postcards as part of their decor.

We were having brunch that morning and I wanted a healthier selection thus the salad.

There is a team of Ukrainian that serves, cooks and manage this fine place. Excellent service I might add. We were served with non local sweets/chocolates at the very beginning. Love the chocolates. It is nice to be able to enjoy some Eastern European cuisine here in Penang. Definitely suits my taste.

I enjoyed my Olivier Salad very much, with cubes of chicken, eggs, potatoes, cucumbers, green peas and onion with their sauce. It was a perfect dish for me.

My friend's omelette was a simple yet a pleasant meal. Out of three coffee , I liked cappuccino the best especially when its still warm.

The Apple Strudel is one of their signature dish and I highly recommend it. Love the generous cream they put in as it complements the strudel with sweet, sour combination all at once.

I'm looking forward to trying more dishes from them. Indeed a nice hangout place that offers free wifi and no extra taxes.

Shervone Cakes, Pulau Tikus

Some of you might have been to Shervone at Krystal Point, Bayan Lepas but now there is a new outlet at Pulau Tikus opposite Tan Mark Book store. Three weeks old.

I had the priviledge of tasting a variety of coffee, cakes and chocolates, not to mention the delectable main courses. It's a very decorated place, being a cake house, coffee and cafe all in one.

The highlight of their coffee is the DIY concept, make your own coffee using the Arissto Premium Coffee brand. I will upload a video on how latte is done with Arissto coffee maker soon.

My Latte

The first dish that was served to us was their Briyani Spice Rice with 1/4 Chicken. We all enjoyed the dish as the chicken was tender with added spices and cashew nuts. Being the typical Malaysian we all are, we requested for more gravy and we enjoyed it even more. Salad at the side made it all a balanced meal.

The new signature dish, Heng Penang Laksa,a recipe that was handed down by Mr. Yo's grandmother was my favourite of all. The laksa had all the right spices, with lots of shredded fish and the 'hae ko'(shrimp/prawn paste) was placed in a bottle for us to pour the amount we want. The soup is thick and has the right sour to it.

Note: Heng Penang Laksa is only served on weekends

Something I would love for breakfast, the Panini Wasabi Salmon. I sliced and I dipped my wasabi salmon into the egg and then put all into my mouth. The combination was supreme. That's how I ate my Panini Wasabi Salmon with eggs. By the way, I love eggs and I eat them everyday.

They also have a wide variety of their hand made chocolates. The most bizarre flavour would be curry banana choc( its the brown rockish look chocolate on your far left) which was surprisingly tasty in its unique way. The other one that I liked was the strawberry as the chocolate is white chocolate,it seems to go well with the strawberry fillings. Mind you, I usually don't like strawberry flavoured things. So this was good to me.

Then comes the cakes and the best for me out of the three goes to Carrot Cake. : )

I would love to visit another time to try other chocolate and cheese cakes. Yum!

Thanks to Sharon( lovely lady in the pastel color dress), wife of Mr. Yo in serving and letting us in to a bit of history. A friendly lady always at your service. The girl(top left)who served us chocolates is a part time server who was very helpful that day. All the best to your studies in TAR. : )

Finally we have Mr. Yo, the cake designer/chef, the main man in this shop. He mentioned that they also have ice cream cakes and 3D cakes that we can order. On top of that, Sharon has told us that they have party event planning as well and they are collaborating with Party Fete. So if you have birthday celebrations coming up, do drop in and have a chat with them.

Hainanese Delights, 1926 Hotel, Penang

Hainanese Delights is situated within 1926 Heritage Hotel along Burma Road. As you enter the lobby area, the restaurant will be on your right.

Besides the hainanese dishes and some nyonya type of dishes, there is something different in a cuisine like this that I will highlight.

They have pies, chicken, lamb and macaroni pies. My godbro ordered a large chicken pie(see below) and it was pleasantly tasty as the cream, eggs amd chicken are all tasty altogether. The crust is soft as well but I'm not too fond of mixed vegetables, other than that, I enjoyed it.

The rest of what we had are shown in the pictures below. Quite similar to nyonya food but not as many spices in it. Their website which is given at the bottom of this post, has their menu in .pdf format that you can download. Very informative indeed.

Inner Mongolia Steamboat, Kuala Lumpur

Kuchai Lama Entrepreneur Square has an array of cafes and restaurants. We were there just for a few days for a conference therefore insufficient time to explore the many attractive eateries.

Now, an interesting cuisine I have never experienced, a Mongolian cuisine. Managed, cooked and served by Mongolians. Inner Mongolian brings our tastebuds to another level.

It's based around a steamboat menu but you can choose other main dishes and delicacies such as shown in the menu in later part of the post.

The lamb cube is tasty, a little hard for me that day. Although it looks dry but it isn't and nice to chomp on.

Spicy beef tendons is spicy but for typical Malaysians, I doubt it's an issue. Beef was tender although with the tendons. Good to try.

Kelp Silk Salad was nice for some of my friends, as for me its sort of rubbery but the sauce, the coriander and others was what I enjoyed.

The three bowls of homemade noodles that we ate, we liked two out of three.

The menu does not give details so you would have to ask the servers.

Mongolian Lapir

There were some that's not in the menu and honestly because of my incompetency to speak Mandarin, my friend who does did the ordering and communication. I got lost in translation. Pardon me! Anyway the two dishes below were superb. The dumpling dish is basically like siu long pau and coupled with the soup and veg, its delicious.

This fried dumpling is crispy on the outside and soft inside. An enjoyable dish indeed as starters or dessert.

We didn't fancy the milk tea because we are just not used to the taste. I believe some of you would probably like it.

We were getting to know the proprietor and its customs and that resulted in me wearing their traditional costume. It's a bit bulky because I just wore it over my existing clothes.

Overall, I really enjoyed the food!

Ye Wei Vietnamese Restaurant

Ye Wei vietnamese restaurant is located at Transfer Road, an easy spot to find along the road. Parking is quite easy as you turn into the road right before the restaurant.

This place sells a pretty wide range of local Vietnamese dry foods as well as their coffees. We wanted to try their vietnamese dishes and because we were in a long table setting, some dishes were divided into smaller plates thus the photo taking as such.

The vietnamese rolls never fail to disappoint me nor the egg omelette.

The fried chicken and fish tasted normal like a usual Chinese dish. However the brinjal dish is delectable and usually I'm not a fan but for this I am.

The tea was not in the menu but upon request, Ah Hong the owner obliged us and made us their homemade tea . The wife is a vietnamese and was busy cooking in the kitchen.

The place is non air conditioned so dress casually to enjoy the meals. Prices are reasonable.

Coffeeric, one of the newest member to the coffee cafe community in Penang founded by brother and sister Eric and Kim.

The woody base of the cafe with creative choices of furnitures and decorations makes it quaint and comfortable. Just nice to take a break from after running some shopping errands.

Bountiful Kitchen is a restaurant serving Northen Indian and Western Cuisines. Tucked in between houses at Jones Road, one might miss it if they are not actually looking for it.

One rainy afternoon, I decided to walk to a birthday lunch from a distance of 10 minutes away. It was a public holiday and the traffic was as slow as a tortoise. And I was also famished.

There are quite a number of selections to pick from and all the dishes in the pictures shown below was so tasty I felt there wasn't a point for me to write specifically on each dish. If its your first time, pick chef's recommendations to taste the best from the chef.

I was so concerned that someone might steal or exchange it(it happened elsewhere before) that I actually did forget to take it back due to distractions that's not worth mentioning, haha! But Chef Raj's wife was so kind to keep for me till I came back to collect it a few days later.

Chef Raj is a former chef from G Hotel and have won numerous awards.

Behind every man is a woman who stands to support and She is none other than Aunty Mary, mother of the chef and proprieter Daniel Cheah. He specialises in the western food, as for the case of Danny's, it's the burgers, wraps and burritos.

I love the beef wrap, filled with slices of beef, cheese, lettuce etc. Onions ans mushrooms are sautéed. Simply delicious.

Burritos include similarly to wraps except added flavoured rice, and a variety of sauces. It's a more filling selection. I have yet to try the burgers. You can see it in the menu below.

James, the owner of Little Nyonya Cuisine currently has three outlets, right where we were was at Gurney Plaza and the other two respectively at Bukit Jambul and Queensbay Mall. This particular day is a meeting between my sister and James and food tasting agenda.

There might be a future fourth outlet in KL Pavilion Mall. You are one of the first to hear it. But until that truly comes to pass, let's enjoy the Penang outlets first. Most times when I'm in Gurney Plaza, its rare for me to see alot of empty tables, even on some weekdays. Weekend crowds throng this eatery, definitely a heavy traffic area.

There are wide varieties in their menu, ranging from dishes for group eating to standalone rice/noodles for one person.

My most likeable dishes are arranged from top to bottom.

If you like cendol, I would recommend this. Sweet as usual but not overbearing. 'gula melaka' is used unlike some outlets, they use brown sugar. I'm not much of a cendol, ice kacang fan but the rest who ate it seems to enjoy it.

Quê Hương Tôi Vietnamese Cafe

A quick review of Vietnamese Cafe. Authentic yet tasty and it's a cafe I would go often for lunch and dinner if I'm nearby. That's how much I like it. An alternative to our usual Chinese food.

Mandarin speaking servers as well as the lady boss. She is a Vietnamese as well as the kitchen crew as I noticed. Based on the pictures below, all are commendable and recommendable. I am usually not a fan of pudding but this was surprisingly good. It was saturated in coffee and I love Vietnamese coffee.

They do sell their local products near the counter, bringing Vietnam to Penang.

This 6 month old cafe is making quite an impression. For me at least. For my first visit, it impressed me to say Gala House gives a top notch quality service and food. I had very little breakfast and had done quite abit of walking in the morning, lunch was something I really looked forward to and I am so glad we came to the right place.

We were greeted with friendly faces and helpful services throughout our meal. I wanted a hearty and healthy meal so I ordered their Ceasar salad and tomato soup. The roasted tomato soup is a recipe of a grand nanny of one of the owners. I have never been a fan of tomato soup or tomato puree etc. I liked it very much to my surprise. Next came the Ceasar Salad, fresh and up to my expectations.

I have to try every tiramisu I see in every restaurant that has it. This one is with Kahlua. Nice. I don't mind it but it will be good to be given an option with or without Kahlua for those who are not for alcohol.
