I once visited a site that boasted a grand total of five to six games. They were all two-player games, and the site connected you with someone else. The games I remember are: draw the outline of this picture (partner guesses), are we listening to the same song (each describe song), which picture do we like best (each pick a favourite)...

I vaguely remember the website being a purpley colour, more on the pinkish than blueish side, if that helps at all. It also had a very distinctive name... which is why I'm embarrassed to not remember it. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, much thanks. It was a fun site!
The first (and so far, only) suggestion was not the site I had in mind.
The second suggestion is not helpful either, as I am looking for a specific site that made its own games.

There is no way to effectively get free in-game currency for IMVU, Second Life, World of Warcraft, EVE, Conan, Video Poker, (note - all these are trademarks) or any other online game available now.
First, the basic answer. Many years ago, game companies didn't worry as much about in-game currency or items. Part of this was they didn't really think of these things being worth real money (half the time you weren't even playing against other players; you were playing against yourself, and who cares if you cheat at solitaire?). The other reason was, there weren't a lot of ways for the game companies to stop the improper acquisition of in-game currency or items. The technology was flawed at best. And the legal system wasn't there. The Internet was a law enforcement no-man's land. Nobody knew who had jurisdiction. None of the judicial or law enforcement personnel had a serious understanding of what a computer or a server was, much less a way to explain all this to a jury. So the game companies didn't really fight it, and you could find sources for free, "cheat" money and items in computer games.
Those days are gone.
First, computer gaming went from something a handful of hobbyists did (a tiny market) to something that nearly everyone does (a huge market). So the money cascaded in and the process all became important. So now, game companies CARED. A lot.
Next, the technology improved. Where cheats and security holes used to prevail, they're gone now. This isn't to say there's no way to cheat at an online game - this is to say it's right on the knife edge of being impossible without an insider helping you. Games now use the same encryption most militaries and banks use - and you aren't cracking that in a hurry. Likewise, attacking a gaming server is now about as hard as attacking a bank server -- really. That is to say, it's typically a huge amount of effort involving a lot of people, they'll catch onto it at once, and (we'll get to this in a second) now there are laws that protect these game companies from this kind of theft.
The Internet: when online multi-player gaming first came out (maybe 20 years ago with the MUDs), jurisdiction was hard, as was explaining to a jury. Now, jurisdiction is pretty clear: take away over $20,000US in profits, assets, potential(!) to make money or add to the cost of doing business buy making them clean up your (perceived) mess, and the hosts of the Law Enforcement show are the US Secret Service and the FBI (in America - many other countries operate at this level too). Juries are a Lot more sophisticated nowadays. And if that weren't enough, the PATRIOT Act, for the first time, criminalized computer hacking in general. While it surely didn't target gamers, it did set precedent.
Also, we noticed that the currency in computer games is, in a way, real money. You (or someone) spent hours earning it. While you don't own the "money", it seems you do own something (exactly what you own is a question of some serious legal interest just now). And if the game deals with real money (like Second Life, IMVU or any online casino), those companies are currently under review from people like the California and Nevada Gaming Commissions (as well as a few other states), the California State Franchise Tax Board, and the Internal Revenue Service. Even the US Department of State and the Federal Trade Commission can get involved if you go international on this. It seems some people actually do make real money legally in these games (In Second Life, one lady in Germany made around $250,000US in one year doing the in-game version of real estate trading). So, even though you can't hold it in your hand, now the money is Real, and so are the agencies that want some of it, and take personal theft of money very seriously indeed.
So - here's what you're up against with getting free money out of these games:
If the Game Company wants to run a promotion, they can (although their legal departments will likely all go simultaneously insane trying to justify that). You see a lot of companies giving out free money promotions nowadays? Don't expect these companies to either.
You ask for the proceeds of some clever, undetected hack, as a gift. This is like a stranger finding a way to steal from a bank without getting caught, and then in an act of random kindness, freely giving you - a stranger -- some of that money. Right. This happens every day. But not on earth. However, let's say it did. The following applies to you:
** You solicited a federal criminal act (by implying you'd like someone to hack a system thus breaking a federal law).
You are a party after the fact (just as if you knowingly received money from a burglary).
Interstate trafficking in stolen goods (if it's on the Internet, it's federal, yes?).
The game company will detect this (unlike real, EVERY monetary transaction is recorded and serialized - in real, this wouldn't be legal - in IMVU it's just part

I have a PSP. Yawn. I wanted one as a kid, in secret, but never asked for it because I had a Gameboy and about 10230895 gameboy games. So maybe i'm just trying to relive my childhood a little. I always thought game gear was bad ass

Actually, the Game Gear is pretty crappy. I wanted one as a kid too, but when I actually played one, I was very disappointed. The games aren't very fun, and the controls are bad. There's a good reason why the Gameboy fared much better than the Game Gear.

However, I can understand wanting to complete a Sega collection. It would be cool to be able to say that you have most of the stuff Sega released. If you have the disposable income to spend on it, go for it!

What Metal Gear games to play?

I want to play all the metal gear games, and I know that there are lists on sites like Wikipedia, but this is sort of different. I want to play them all, but I want to play the best versions, as there were lots of remakes with small differences. Also, collection were released, so don't say mgs2 in the list, say the collection. I know you say you do not have a GameCube, but you do have a Wii, which can play GameCube games. If you can't get a GC controller or memory card, the original version of Metal Gear Solid is on PSN as a PS classic.

I suggest playing the games in storyline order, as in from top to bottom. Next month, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, a hack'n'slash spin-off, will be released. It takes place after MGS4 and it will be on PS3.

There is also the upcoming Ground Zeroes, which will take place after Peace Walker but before Metal Gear. It will be on PS3, XBox 360, and PC.

You can try using firefox if you are using other explorers. I used to download a game called Gunbound, it took 2 hours or more in the past. But now it takes less than 10 mins with mozilla firefox. Same with downloading big movies from the net

How many games does a team need to win in order to win the World Series?

Answer
They must win 4 out of 7 games. If the team wins 4 games before the 7th game, the series is over and that team wins, so not all 7 games are obligated to be played. Basically, the team who gets to 4 wins first wins the World Series.

But of course, in order to make it to the World Series, the 2 teams must win their playoffs in their league (American League and National League)

Theres a pile of cards like a discard pile. each player gets 5 cards in there hands i think. I do remember its kinda like war. but some of the cards mean things, like a 10 clears the pile or something. Please help its driving me nuts

Ok, I started playing kingdom hearts 1, around 2002 - 2003, because I have saves on my memory card from it. I was around...10 years old?

now I'm 17, and it's up to kingdom hearts 2. and Chain of memories, and some new side games bla bla.

how long does it really take to make these games? I'm getting tired of waiting for the major games, because i'm getting older, and i don't want to grow out of being able to relate with the characters because I'm too old or whatever. It's driving me nuts waiting too. I mean, it's a popular game, so why do we have to wait like, years and years for more games. i understand 2-3 years, but past that is annoying.

and with resident evil, i heard the next game wont come out for another 7-8 years, and so help me god i hope that's a rumor!!

these games are popular, so why does it take so long, I would think they'd get a huge team of people together to make it faster. I'm ancy with kingdom hearts, because I'm almost an adult, and it's like, they're adding so many details now the game will go on forever :( I can't wait that long! i need some exellent fanservice...

I will be briefly explain why it's taking so long to make video games. :-)

There are 5 major steps in making games.

1. Planning and Designing (estimated time - 3~5 months)

a. A planned title is reviewed by the executives and they send a green light once approved.
b. HR gathers the best senior employees suitable to lead the project.
c. The project managers shape up the team and calculates required budget and time.
d. Blueprints and prototypes are built and reviewed by producers and development directors.
e. Once approved by the senior leads, a green light is given.
f. Game Design document is prepared by the Technical/Development/Art directors and delivered to lead programmers/artists/project managers.
g. The sub leads gather the best people who will work for the project and the full development begins.

2. Making and publishing (estimated time - around 12 months)

There are 5 major stages.

Pre-milestone stage (game doc development period) -> Milestone stage -> Alpha Stage -> Beta Stage -> Final Stage.

a. Milestone stage begins. Programmers start to work on the game engine and produce a playable area with characters. They don't rely on game's story or other details yet.

b. Quality Assurance specialists are added to the project. They start to find bugs and report them to programmers.

c. Alpha stage is reached once Alpha deliverables are fully passed. Deliverables are things that have to work in order for game to pass certain development stages. For example, there is an alpha deliverable on button functionalities. For alpha stage, estimated 60% of all features must work.

d. Beta stage begins. There should be no open bugs in bug database, meaning the game should be functioning as described in game design doc and there should be no bug to fix. Quality Assurance must pass the Beta deliverables in time. That's when the crunch time begins.. (10+ hours of work each day..)

e. Final stage begins. Before we send the final product to the first party (Microsoft and Sony), we must pass the internal functionality review by other studios located in different part of the globe. :-)

Once passed, we declare final and send the game to the first party.

Microsoft and Sony have the best Quality Assurance personnel available on the planet and they find the bugs that we couldn't find and send the title back to us for patching.

Most of the time, our titles make the first time pass because we have the best programmers and quality assurance people available in the universe. :-)

So.. that's why it takes more than a year for a game to release to the market.

I don't know what happened with 7~8 years part.. Either they don't have enough professionals to complete the project in time or they'll be working on different titles before continuing the next saga.

Using a checking account makes it tougher... The only thing I can think of is Ebay where you can use Paypal which you can set up to use your checking account. I think some smaller online shops take Paypal.

New games are released every Monday to the Wii Online Store. Nintendo plans on releasing around 1 - 5 games per week. As far as a list of upcoming games, I don't believe there is an official list of what's coming and when, but there is a list of expected upcoming titles on Wikipedia, which is linked in my sources.

I watched that game in 3D. My TV was manufactured in 2007 and is 3D ready. Before they stopped making them - I bought a Samsung 56" DLP rear projection TV in 2008, so I had a 3D ready TV for 2 years before getting any 3D content.

Eventually, I believe all newer TVs will all be 3D ready. And all 3D TVs double as great 2D sets.

The game in 3D was different than traditional 2D. In 2D your eyes never change focus. It's like looking at a painting. Your eyes move across the surface, but your focus is constant. In 3D you're focusing changes. Focusing on things close to you, focusing on things in the distant. When the puck goes in the air, you can judge where it's going to land - near or far. In 3D you really notice how the players appear vertical to the ice surface. Crowd shots were really good and they did show the crowd more than normal, which I wished they'd do in all their broadcasts. Game score graphics appeared to be on the TV screen surface, while the game itself appeared further back, inside the TV. In 3D, you're more aware of the surroundings. It's very much like being there, looking through a window, rather than staring at a moving picture. They showed more shots from ice level behind the glass and kept on them longer than what we're accustomed to in 2D broadcasts. I enjoyed it and really felt part of a live 3D experiment.

The 3D glasses the televisions use are active shutter glasses and as you may have noticed, the lenses are slightly tinted. That does effect the brightness a bit, but doesn't ruin the effect.

Should hockey be in 3D at all? 3D viewing even on a 3D ready TV will always be a choice. I've always been interested in 3D images, so I love it. Is 3D better than 2D? I really wouldn't say it's better. It's just deeper (pun intended). I'm sure other sports will look even better in 3D. The fact that hockey's ice surface is enclosed by boards and glass, limit the camera options in getting an unobstructed view. I'm not a football or basketball fan, but I can see how those sports would really shine in 3D, because the playing field is open.

Something so good that people should buy 3D TVs now? Depends on the individual. Right now, you can get more 3D content on blu ray than what is broadcast on TV (for me anyway). The majority of my viewing is 2D HD. But being 3D ready for those movies or occasional special events on TV right now is a nice option.

3d games without 120hz monitor?

Games written to work with 3D Stereoscopic shutter glasses like nVidia's 3DVision will NOT work in 3D on a 60Hz monitor. Those require three things: a video card that supports 3DVision, the shutter glasses, and a monitor that can receive a 120Hz DVI or HDMI signal.

No way around it. That's how those games are written. If you don't have the right equipment, you are restricted to playing those games in regular 2D.

Legitimate CD-key on pirated game?

Q. so anyway I downloaded a pirated Street Fighter X Tekken because I never buy a game before trying it out to see if I like it, the thing is this particular game isn't sold anywhere in my city but I want it really fast so I don't want to wait for a retail copy of the game to be shipped in a week or so from another country (not to mention the shipping fees are gonna be higher than the game itself, trust me postal service is a bitch here). As far as i'm aware CD-keys can be purchased online and delivered to me much sooner (1-24h), so would I be able to enter a legitimate CD-key in my games for windows account and activate Street Fighter X Tekken if I have a pirated copy of the game?

as stated why dont you by a digital copy? a lot of places you pay the same price but dont have to wait for it in the mail. not to mention, can download as many times as you want depending on were you get it from. like steam for instance. because steam is an account based system. meaning to play you have to be logged into steam (either offline or online). but once you have steam you can download the game to any computer and as many as you want. because you have to log into your account. the only thing is to play online you can only be logged onto one computer at a time with steam.

so for my kids i have sonic generations, and sonic racing. both from steam. i use there computer log into steam and then go offline mode. then for myself i log into steam and i now can play either one of those games as well or i like to play mw3 online. so i can. but if there comuter was logged on to steam in online then i could not play mw3 online. they dont have my pw so they cant log on.

steam has that game on it also so you could get it from there. the only downside is it usually takes longer to download a game thru the internet then to have a cd. but the good is like i have portal 1 and 2. missing the cds but since i already owned them and they were steam related games and so they are activated with my steam account i can still download them.

Is it legal to download a game if you already have purchased it before?

No it's not. Making copies of something is not illegal, the illegal part is when people sell those copies to someone else.

You can make as many copies of anything you own, you can download a torrent for a game you bought and you can even play the cracked game if you want (most of the time it's even easier to install the cracked one instead of the original one).

You can even see a disclaimer in most websites that provide ROMs saying "you need delete this ROM after 24h if you don't own the game already".

@Dr. Magma, emulators are not illegal, they are just software made to work with third party content. There is nothing illegal about it, same as there is nothing illegal about making a program that can open and edit .doc files or any other files for that matter. It would be illegal to mod the game itself, but emulators do not do that.

I've been looking online for the new Kh to come out and its telling me (from what im reading) that there are 3 seperate games, 1 for the mobile phone, 1 for ds, and one for psp. Do they relate to what ive herd is comming out on the ps3. One of my friends told me that, yes those games are comming out, but when kh3 comes out/ if it comes out on the ps3 it will be a three game bundle pack. with all those games in it. is this true? what do you know of it?

ok you're not entirely wrong. but you're also not right.

the games being released are NOT KH3. they are side stories. similiar to KH:CoM. and they are not going to be released in a 3 game bundle. that wouldn't make sense. because people that only own 1 of those systems simply wouldn't buy the game. because why spend $100+ on a 3 game pack when you're only going to be able to play 1 game. it makes sense financially to release the 3 games separately. besides, how would they package a mobile phone game?

the actual game titled Kingdom Hearts 3 will not be released for some time. it has not been started yet. the team is still working on the next Final Fantasy game due out later this year or early next year.

as for Kingdom Hearts 3 it will most likely be released on the PS3, however the 360 or the next gen 360 might be possible as well. the game will have all new main characters. Sora and gang are not playable characters. the game will involve the keyblade war. if you saw the secret ending at the end of KH2 you'll understand what i'm refering to.

Just 3 innings of baseball erases most of the boring pitching switch delays and the batting delays and any other delay. Baseball is a very slow sports, so to make the game shorter would make it more interesting. I see the final game of the World Series as a prototype.

Baseball is fine with no time limit. TV has caused al ot of problems. At a Cardinals Sunday game this year they could not start the game because ESPN was still giving the starting line ups. Mike Shannon said the umpire was standing with his hand on his hips glaring ast the pressbox for the signal to start the game. Also they has to have at least 2 minutes between innings. It doesn't take that lose to changes positions and have the pitcher take his warm up throws. Its TV having to get in commercials. Also a lot of batters do not even leave the on deck circle until their name is announced. I am cosnidering upgraging my OS from Windows 7 to Windows 8. I have heard, that some games do not work properly on windows 8. Can anyone confirm this? Or do games work on windows 8 just as they did on windows 7?

Games that works fine with Windows 7 generally works fine with Windows 8. I have a full Steam library from Windows 7 that was easily compatible with Windows 8.

The one game I only had trouble with is Arkham City. Not that the game had trouble running but because of issues with Windows Live save feature. There were some offered solutions but it hasn't worked for me. Other than that, I've played some pretty old games that does just fine. Compatibility between Windows 7 and Windows 8 for gaming isn't so different. You'll only have to worry if you're playing games like System Shock 2 or some of the older, ancient games.

Wii Games Not Working?

Q. I got a Nintendo Wii (from the US) and my dad travels to China for business sometimes and picks me up games there, because they're cheaper. I've got games from the US and they work fine. When I put in the games from China, it won't read the disc, and they're in perfect condition. I've tried all 7 of my games from China, NONE work! We've also gotten DVD's from China, and they work fine. Any idea what's wrong?

Chinese games will not work on a Wii. Wii are region locked, so only games from that region can be played on that region's Wii. In this case, Chinese games will only work on Chinese Wii.

Not all DVDs are region locked, some are universal, so they can be played on just about any DVD player.

Oblivion IV: Most definitely, be sure to get the game of the year edition that way you get the expansions as well.

Gears Of War 2: I was never a fan of GoW, I always hated it. It's one of those games where you already need friends online who'll fill in the spots when playing multiplayer. Otherwise you'll wait a long time sometimes when looking for a match in gears of war 2.

Mirrors Edge: Nah, don't buy it, just rent it. It's short, creative but repetitive and kind of gets boring quickly.

BioShock: I can't offer my opinion on this as I never played it.
Call Of Duty 4 or 5: I'd say definitely get both, CoD 4 for more of a modern shooter and CoD 5 for a nice WW2 shooter.

Silent Hill: Homecoming: I can't offer my opinion on this either as I've never played it.

Fallout 3: Fallout 3 is definitely a game you'd want to buy, it's quite long when you're doing all the side quests and not just the main quest. It's a nice FPS/TPS and it can be quite challenging assuming you don't have it on the easiest difficulty.

GTA 4: This is no different from any other GTA if you ask me, if you liked the series then go for it, if not then well just leave it.

I am currently looking for a Laptop for online Gaming, Such games as World of Warcraft, Runescape, and programs such as Skype and Itunes.

I Love Toshiba and Dell Brand, But I am willing to try other kinds of Laptops. I would prefer not having a desktop. I currently have a Toshiba Satellite A125, But it has majorily begun to work slower and is really just getting old.

I have a budget of $850, I wouldn't mind if it was a little bit over though.

I was in the middle of an online game and my Internet suddenly disconnected. I was returned to the main menu and when my Internet started working it said I quit the game and this modifies my dnf. Then it said from now on I will get less coins per match. How many less coins will I receive and can I stop this from happening. It's really annoying because I didn't actually quit :(.

it happens, the DNF modifier is a multiplier that increases the amount of coins you earn each game. you start with a 1 DNF modifier and every game you play it increases for about 0.02 to eventually hit a cap of 1.25 max which means it multiples your coins by 1.25 so if in a match you earn 300 coins then it would be 375 coins after a 1.25 DNF modifier.
now to the issue at hand, because your internet disconnected, your DNF will go down from 1.25 to somewhere around 1. but it will go up as you play more games and eventually 10 - 13 games later you will be back up to 1.25, this happens to everyone and all you can do is get used to it. EA implements this policy to discourage people from disconnecting and exploiting the game and other players.

You do need to download a client program, but it is easy and fast if you are not on dial-up. The interface is EXCELLENT. Very fast. You can play for both money and FREE. The players there are generally extremely good, better than the larger sites like yahoo. I started out playing for FREE entered some free tournamnets with cash prizes and won. Once I got money into my bank account I was able to keep playing on the house money. If you want to play for cash they ask for a $50.00 initial deposit unless you win some. The site also offers poker, but I have not checked that side out as I am a pure backgammon man.

There is another site, Gammon Empire, but the interface is MUCH SLOWER than True Money Games and IMO it is nowhere close in terms of overall quality. The URL is www.gammonempire.com

Game Maker 8 is a good investment if you are going to make more than one game or are just trying to get a hold of the basics of game development, GM makes easy, fun, and great 2D games, even though 3D games are possible they require much more time effort and skill, but do not ever come out as great. However, if you want to spend a bit more money and create very good 3D FPS games easy i would go with FPS Creator X10, and if not, C++.
