Being Mindful

I'm trying to practice being Mindful....sounds easy right??
The first step I'm trying is to remind myself what I'm doing at the present moment, for example
self: "I'm typing my thoughts into the computer"
although this makes me smile and feel a little silly it is very helpful, it quiets the monkey mind and focuses my energy.

I'll keep you updated.

Morning Quiet

There is nothing like it
I wake before everyone else
The three people I love the most still sleeping
The quiet is so welcoming....I must sit in it......
before long
morning hugs, telling of dreams, breakfast, getting dressed , hopefully without drama
Some go out into the world, others stay home
Nothing like the morning quiet.....so much hope for the day

So sometimes I wonder how I got this feeling to always keep moving, I think some of it has to do with reading and dreaming too much (if that's possible). Maybe it's just an innate curiosity to know what's going on in other places and other people's lives. I can't remember a time in my life when I didn't want to go somewhere new. I've done the conventional all my life, I went to a good school, got a college degree, married a great human being who happens to be my best friend, got a house, had babies, got a bigger house, and a bigger one, got into debt trying to get all the stuff etc. same old same old life. Now it's time to get out of the perceived "right" box or the box labeled "things you should do". It occurred to me in the past few years not to do the "right" thing. I am lucky enough to be married to a really smart and funny man and I have two great girls that still like being around me so why not do something like traveling the world or at least starting with the United States.....I'll keep you posted but adventure awaits......
