Selain mereka yang berada di Malaysia Barat, terdapat ribuan lagi rakyat Sabah dan Sarawak yang tinggal dan bekerja di Selangor yang hanya mahir bertutur dalam bahasa kebangsaan. Eu merujuk kepada larangan menyeluruh yang disebut Majlis Agama Islam Selangor (Mais) dalam kenyataan media bertarikh 14 November apabila Bible yang dirampas awal tahun itu diserahkan kembali kepada penganut Kristian melalui Persatuan Gereja Sarawak.CFM melihat dengan penuh kebimbangan perenggan akhir kenyataan Mais yang berbunyi '... dan berharap pengedaran dan percetakan Bible yang mengandungi perkataan 'Allah' tidak lagi dibuat di Negeri Selangor, kerana ia satu kesalahan mengikut Enakmen Ugama Bukan Islam (Kawalan Pengembangan Di Kalangan Orang Islam) 1988'," kata Eu.

Kenyataannya itu berikutan kenyataan Persatuan Bible Malaysia (PBM) semalam, yang marah dengan tindakan pihak berkuasa agama negeri itu mencetak cap peringatan dengan tulisan merah pada lebih 300 naskhah AlKitab (Bible Bahasa Malaysia) dan Bup Kudus (bahasa Iban) yang sebelum itu disimpan mereka selama 10 bulan sejak Januari.

Katanya, Archbishop Kuala Lumpur sebelum ini, Tan Sri Murphy Pakiam dan CFM, kedua-duanya pernah menyatakan penggunaan AlKitab yang mengandungi kalimah 'Allah' akan terus digunakan semasa upacara Kristian bagi mereka yang bertutur di dalam Bahasa Malaysia dan tinggal di Semenanjung.

"Memaksa penganut Kristian di Malaysia berhenti menggunakan AlKitab adalah bertentangan dengan Artikel 11 Perlembagaan Persekutuan berhubung kebebasan beragama, di mana Klausa (3)(a) menyatakan 'semua agama berhak menguruskan hal ehwal agama masing-masing.'

"Ia merupakan satu ketidakadilan yang melampau terhadap penganut Kristian di Malaysia yang hanya menggunakan Bahasa Malaysia ketika beribadat dan untuk Bible mereka, dan menggunakan bahasa itu sejak berabad lama," kata Eu.

Sambil mengingatkan yang Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak berulang kali memberi jaminan akan menegakkan semangat penyelesaian 10 perkara yang dipersetujui sebelum ini, beliau menggesa kedua-dua kerajaan persekutuan dan kerajaan negeri segera berusaha ke arah memastikan ia benar-benar satu penyelesaian, dan bukannya satu kepalsuan yang menyebabkan kekeliruan dan konflik yang tidak perlu.

"Perdana menteri dan Jemaah menteri pada 31 Oktober 2014 memberi jaminan yang penyelesaian 10 perkara itu akan dijelaskan kepada semua kakitangan awam dan terbaru pada 14 November, perdana menteri meletakkan 'masalah' berkenaan 'isu Allah' itu ke atas kakitangan awam dan memberitahu mereka yang rampasan dan sekatan bukan sebahagian daripada penyelesaian yang dijanjikan dalam surat beliau kepada CFM bertarikh 11 April 2011," katanya.

The Malaysian Insider melaporkan, pemimpin Kristian marah dengan cap yang dicetak di atas naskhah Bible itu sebelum ia diserahkan kepada penganut Kristian Sarawak bulan lepas.

Presiden PBM Datuk Ng Moon Hing menuntut pihak berkuasa agama Selangor memohon maaf kerana 'mencemar' Bible itu kerana Putrajaya, pada bulan March 2011, berjanji tidak akan mengulangi perkara itu selepas insiden sama di Sarawak melibatkan konsaimen bernilai RM70,000 yang ditahan di Pelabuhan Kuching sejak 2009. – 8 Disember, 2014.

Kos perubatan tidak akan meningkat dengan GST

Jabatan Kastam Diraja Malaysia hari ini menafikan bahawa pelaksanaan Cukai Barangan dan Perkhidmatan (GST) akan menyebabkan peningkatan mendadak dalam kos perubatan di negara ini.
Pengarah GST Datuk Subromaniam Tholasy berkata sebaliknya, pelaksanaan rejim cukai baru ini akan mempunyai beberapa kelebihan kepada pengguna atau pesakit, khususnya apabila cukai perkhidmatan 6% yang sedia ada tidak lagi dikenakan untuk bilik dan makanan untuk tempoh penginapan di hospital .
Beliau berkata pada masa yang sama, terdapat pelbagai jenis ubat-ubatan yang secara berkadar sifar, bersama GST pengecualian untuk penggunaan peralatan, seperti X-Ray dan Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) mesin.
"Pada hakikatnya, peningkatan adalah sangat sedikit. Tetapi, ada satu golongan kecil orang yang menendang sehingga kekecohan, untuk mewujudkan tanggapan bahawa kos perubatan di Malaysia akan mengalami kenaikan mendadak dengan pelaksanaan GST pada 1 April, tahun depan .
"Itu tidak benar. Peningkatan kos hospital tidak besar. Kita perlu mengambil kira penjimatan daripada penghapusan cukai perkhidmatan 6% ini," katanya.
Katanya kepada pemberita pada sidang media selepas Seminar GST dan Pendaftaran di Melaka hari ini.
Sementara itu, Subromaniam berkata GST juga dikecualikan bagi perkhidmatan kesihatan yang disediakan oleh pakar-pakar di hospital swasta dan dikategorikan sebagai "kontrak perkhidmatan", seperti cukai yang akan ditanggung oleh hospital berkenaan.
Bagaimanapun, katanya, ia berbeza dengan pakar dikategorikan dalam "kontrak perkhidmatan" dan mempunyai syarikat sendiri yang menawarkan perkhidmatan kepada hospital, kerana mereka perlu membayar GST.
"Doktor Pakar yang perlu mendaftar untuk GST adalah orang-orang yang menyediakan perkhidmatan kepada pesakit dan dikategorikan sebagai perkhidmatan sumber luar," katanya.
Dalam hal ini, beliau berkata pakar dengan syarikat mereka disaran mendaftar untuk GST dengan cepat, kerana jumlah mereka yang dalam kategori ini yang telah berbuat demikian adalah sangat kecil berbanding dengan realiti.
Dalam perkembangan lain, Subromaniam berkata GST tidak akan dikenakan ke atas mereka yang menguruskan kondominium kos rendah dan sederhana, tetapi hanya kepada orang-orang yang mewah.

Ulama mengatakan 'haram' bagi umat Islam untuk memakai kit bola sepak, bermain gitar, piano, trompet

KUALA LUMPUR, 6 Dis - Islam didakwa melarang umat Islam daripada bermain alat muzik seperti gitar, piano atau sangkakala kerana ia bertentangan dengan hadis-hadis, seorang ulamak yang dikatakan hari ini.
Dalam kertas kerja mengenai Islam dan hiburan yang dikemukakan pada forum kebangsaan di sini, Abdul Raof Nurin berkata aliran Shafie yang Islam hanya membenarkan umat Islam untuk mendengar muzik yang menyentuh cintakan agama, dan menggesa mereka yang mahu bermain alat muzik untuk sebaik-baiknya melekat kepada gong atau kompang.
Tambahnya, sekolah Shafie, bagaimanapun, akan membuat pengecualian untuk "Gabus", instrumen bertali sama dengan gitar, hanya jika mereka bermain mengikut undang-undang Islam.
"Untuk mendengar muzik yang mempunyai apa-apa kaitan dengan agama yang termasuk instrumen yang dilarang dalam Islam, ditambah pula dengan konsert yang membolehkan sosialisasi bercampur, ini menyebabkan kalian berdoa.
"Majoriti ulama melarang penggunaan alat muzik kecuali yang drummed seperti kompang itu, muzik perkusi malah mereka dengan loceng," katanya.
Forum itu dianjurkan oleh Kumpulan Pengguna Islam Malaysia (PPIM) dan Pembangunan Manusia dan Biro Penyiasatan.
Profesor di Seni dan Warisan Akademi Kebangsaan (Aswara) Datuk Baharudin Ahmad, bagaimanapun, berkata instrumen sahaja tidak "haram" atau dilarang, tetapi bunyi yang mereka buat adalah, kerana mereka sering digunakan untuk bermain muzik yang menggalakkan aktiviti tidak bermoral seperti percuma bergaul dengan jantina.
"Instrumen seperti sangkakala, nafiri itu bukan masalah, bunyi yang keluar daripadanya [ialah]," Baharudin memberitahu forum itu.
Kedua-dua ulama dalam persembahan mereka berkata hiburan di Malaysia terlalu dipengaruhi oleh Barat, yang sering memasukkan mesej daripada jumlah kebebasan dan kepenggunaan buta.
Sebagai contoh, Abdul Raof dinamakan pertandingan nyanyian banyak, yang dia berkata disediakan untuk anugerah yang lumayan.
Beliau berkata acara itu memupuk materialisme di kalangan golongan muda.

"Kami hanya melihat pengalaman orang-orang yang telah melalui ini. Di Amerika Syarikat dan negara-negara kaya yang lain banyak orang-orang dengan harta, kedudukan, pintar telah membunuh diri," katanya.
Baharuddin pula berkata hiburan materialistik begitu berakar umbi dalam masyarakat hari ini bahawa isi rumah yang keluarga menghabiskan sebahagian besar gaji mereka pada hiburan seperti jersi bola sepak dan pakaian berjenama.
"Keinginan seperti itu telah membuat perbelanjaan isi rumah yang tidak seimbang," katanya.
Baharuddin berkata banyak menyalahkan pergi ke "berkualiti rendah" pembandaran, dan menggesa kerajaan untuk membantu mempromosikan "kehidupan tradisional" yang lebih.
Kumpulan garis keras Islam telah lama menggesa Putrajaya untuk mengekang industri hiburan, dengan mendakwa ia adalah terlalu barat-centric.

INSTITUT AL-QURAN TERENGGANU DINAIK TARAF SEBAGAI KOLEJ UNIVERSITI

sini telahpun mendapat pengesahan daripada Kementerian Pendidikan untuk dinaik

taraf sebagai Kolej Universiti, kata Menteri Besar Terengganu Datuk Ahmad Razif

Abdul Rahman.

Serentak itu, katanya, satu program baharu akan diperkenalkan untuk pelajar

tingkatan empat iaitu program Yusuf Al Qardhawi yang akan mengambil 30 pelajar

cemerlang sebagai pelajar perintisnya mulai tahun depan.

Beliau berkata program yang menggabungkan bidang sains dan agama ini akan

menjadi platform dalam usaha melahirkan semula ulama tersohor negeri ini.

"Tiga puluh pelajar perintis itu terdiri daripada mereka yang cemerlang

dalam Penilaian Menengah Rendah baru-baru ini dan mestilah menghafaz 30 juzuk

al-Quran sebagai kriteria utamanya," katanya selepas mempengerusikan mesyuarat

Exco di sini hari ini.

Penaiktarafan Institut al-Quran kepada Kolej Universiti itu merupakan satu

daripada 18 Aku Janji Barisan Nasional Terengganu pada Pilihan Raya Umum ke-13.

cemerlang di Terengganu pada masa depan," katanya.

Kedua-dua mereka menerima wang tunai RM1,000 setiap seorang.

Ahmad Razif berkata beliau juga akan mengumumkan insentif bagi meraikan

KUALA LUMPUR, 3 Dis (Bernama) -- Pertandingan Menulis Surat 1Malaysia

bertujuan memupuk minat rakyat terutamanya pelajar dalam seni penulisan,

Pertandingan sempena Pameran Setem Remaja Sedunia itu dipertandingkan untuk

kategori A: Sekolah Rendah (darjah satu hingga darjah enam), Kategori B: Sekolah

Menengah (tingkatan satu hingga lima), Kategori C untuk warganegara Malaysia

berumur 18 tahun ke atas dan kategori khas untuk Orang Kurang Upaya (OKU)

berusia 9 hingga 45 tahun.

Pertandingan yang memasuki tahun kelima itu merupakan anjuran bersama Pos

Malaysia dan Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia (SKMM) dengan

sokongan dari Kementerian Komunikasi dan Multimedia (KKMM) dan Kementerian

Pendidikan.

Menurut Timbalan Ketua Setiausaha II KKMM Datuk Che Azemi Haron, kategori

baharu iaitu kategori khas untuk OKU juga dibuka tahun ini bagi memberi peluang

kepada semua lapisan masyarakat untuk berkarya.

"Ini merupakan satu daripada hasrat kementerian untuk memupuk kembali minat

pelajar dalam seni penulisan seterusnya menjadi aspirasi utama memandangkan

kepesatan teknologi komunikasi kini seperti Khidmat Pesanan Ringkas, mel

elektronik, media sosial, internet dan sebagainya semakin menguasai dunia,"

katanya kepada media selepas majlis penyampaian hadiah kepada pemenang

pertandingan tersebut.

Pada majlis itu, sejumlah 42 pemenang secara keseluruhan diumumkan mengikut

empat kategori yang dipertandingkan.

Turut hadir Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Kumpulan Pos Malaysia Datuk Iskandar

Mizal Mahmood dan Ketua Pegawai Kawal Selia Industri SKMM Toh Swee Hoe.

Menurut Che Azemi, pertandingan menulis surat bertemakan 'Pelancongan' itu

merupakan projek tahunan Pos Malaysia dan kini memasuki tahun kelima selepas

mula diperkenalkan pada 2010.

"Pertandingan tersebut bermula pada 1 Julai dan tamat pada 31 Ogos lepas

telah mendapat sambutan menggalakkan dan saya dimaklumkan jumlah penyertaan yang

diterima kali ini hampir 50,000 karya.

"Pelbagai idea bernas dan kreatif, praktikal, serta pendapat dan harapan

rakyat Malaysia dapat dinilai dalam karya setiap peserta yang menyertai

pertandingan ini," katanya.

Pelbagai hadiah menarik ditawarkan kepada pemenang termasuk wang tunai,

album setem, sijil, Netbook dan hadiah lain berjumlah lebih RM72,800.

Juara kategori Sekolah Rendah disandang Alya Adriana Adi Afizul, 12, dari

Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampong Bahru, Batu Pahat, Johor, manakala Ahmad Asyraf

Rosli, 17, dari Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Tenggara 2, Kulai, Johor

diumumkan sebagai juara kategori Sekolah Menengah.

Kategori Terbuka pula diraih Siti Aishah Ramly, 23, dari Jerantut, Pahang,

dan kategori OKU dimenangi Yak Fang Ling,15, dari Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan

Sungai Merah, Sibu, Sarawak.

Sementara itu ketika ditemui, pemenang tempat kedua dan ketiga bagi kategori

khas OKU meluahkan rasa gembira dan bersyukur kerana percubaan kali pertama

mereka menulis surat tersebut membuahkan hasil yang tidak dijangka.

Nur Fatihah Abdullah, 17, dari SMK Jengka 21, Bandar Jengka, Pahang yang

memenangi tempat kedua seolah-olah tidak percaya memenangi pertandingan itu

walaupun mempunyai masalah lembam.

"Saya tak percaya akan menang. Lagipun saya menyertai pertandingan ini

sekadar suka-suka sahaja. Namun begitu cikgu sayalah yang banyak membantu

memberi idea serta memperbaiki mutu penulisan saya," katanya.

Pemenang tempat ketiga kategori sama, Muhammad Zabri Abu Bakar, 28, yang

mengalami kecacatan di kaki kanannya akibat kemalangan pada 2004, berkata dia

hanya mencuba nasib sahaja.

"Saya tergerak hati menyertai pertandingan ini ketika saya terjumpa iklan

mengenainya menerusi Facebook dan ini merupakan kali pertama saya menyertai

pertandingan seperti ini.

"Saya menulis mengenai pelancongan sekitar tempat saya tinggal iaitu di

Kuantan, Pahang," kata pemuda itu yang kini menyambung pelajarannya di peringkat

20 Amazing Examples of Brand Publishing

As a content marketer, I am always looking for brands creating content I wish I created, the best video content, and general business and marketing inspiration.

But I’m also continuously asked for sites I think are doing an amazing JOB of executing a branded content experience. I think it often helps brands who might needthat little push into content marketing, to see what others are doing.

I have a running list of about 10 sites that I typically use as examples. But to get a bigger and more holistic view, I asked my Twitter followers and a few of my content marketing friends for more ideas. Specifically, I asked them:

What brand content hubs do you LOVE?

The criteria I used was pretty simple: They had to be examples of a brand-owned content hub. I am not looking for great examples of “campaign” content like Chipotle Scarecrow, Dove’s Real Beauty Sketches or the enviable Volvo Epic Split.

We are looking for examples of brands who continuously and consistently publish content on a site they own – like a media company.

After making this request, I received some great examples from my friends and even some strangers on Twitter and Linkedin. There were a few repeats and a few that didn’t make the cut. But here is the complete list, included in this slideshare, of 20 Amazing Examples Of Branded Content Marketing, separated by B2B and B2C, in no particular order.

Now I know there are more great examples out there. So please keep the suggestions coming?

Amazing B2B Branded Content Marketing Hubs

Adobe CMO.com

Adobe’s CMO.com is a great example of a brand content hub that seeks to delivercontent their audience is looking for, without all the hype and promotion common on most brand experiences. I actually became a loyal fan to this site and for months had no idea it was owned by Adobe.

Lesson for brands: create promotion-free content hubs and use the platform as a launching point for a deeper customer relationship.

American Express OPEN Forum

This is probably the most frequently cited and oldest examples of branded content hubs. I often hear marketers saying they want “to create our own version of AMEX OPEN Forum.” And for good reason. The site provides an amazing customer experience, publishes great content every single day. And they have made no secret of the fact that this site is their largest source of inbound leads for their small business card division.

Lesson for brands: It may take some time to get it right, but branded content marketing hubs can provide a return on investment (ROI).

GE Reports

I love their mission statement: GE Reports is a daily, award-winning online magazine published by GE. The website and its companion Twitter handle feature stories about innovation, science and technology, as well as viewpoints on important issues regarding GE and the world.

Lesson for brands: Find the intersection of your brand purpose and the topics your audience is interested in.

GE Txchnologist

The 2nd example from this amazing brand doing great things in content marketing. (GE also has some great content running on Vine andTumblr).

This site is “sponsored by GE” and represents a good example of acting like a publisher and taking the brand almost completely out of the stories you publish.

Lesson for brands: Sometimes thinking like a publisher means you have to take bold moves and big stands on today’s biggest issues.

Intel IQ

Intel has done a great JOB with it’s IQ site of getting to some of the more human and personal stories behind technology and innovation – topics that are already covered by so many media sites and brands.

Intel have really set themselves apart with a combination of great design, a personal storytelling approach and consistent distribution.

Lesson for brands: Tell stories about the people and the human connection behind the things that interest us.

Xerox Real Business

After experimenting with content marketing and the success of the HealthBizDecodedsite, Xerox launched Real Business earlier this year. The expanded coverage proves that content marketing works and also demonstrates that effective content marketing starts with a deep understanding of your core value proposition as a brand – your brand’s “higher purpose.”

Lesson for brands: For complex businesses, it might make sense to start small and build on your successes.

BufferApp Blog

Some of us in marketing are starting to become slightly obsessed with the BufferApp blog. I am also a loyal user of their tool. But it’s hard NOT to read some of their posts like 10 Simple Things You Can Do Today That Will Make You Happier, Backed By Science. That post has 23,000 shares and more than 210,000 likes on Facebook! And that’s their trick. Create content people can’t NOT read. (Double negative totally intended).

Lesson for brands: think bigger than yourself and what you sell. Help people with their biggest problems and you will earn their attention.

Hubspot

Hubspot has been a shining example of content marketing almost from the very beginning. They have been consistently providing highly useful content, across many formats. The mantra at the heart of the Hubspot approach: answer all your customers’ questions. The motto championed byMarcus Sheridan and one I truly believe in and try to execute here on this blog.

Lesson for brands: you don’t have to over-think content marketing. Identify your customers questions and publish content that answers them.

Salesforce

Salesforce is a fierce competitor in the best branded content marketing space for one main reason: they fully understand the power of delivering helpful content that people AND search engines love. There are fewer search terms that are more competitive than many of the spaces Salesforce operates in: CRM, Customer Service, Sales and Marketing. And Salesforce is relentless about covering each of these content areas with a focus on what people need to know and how to rank for those terms so their blog can be found.

Lesson for brands: when we have a question, we ask Google. SEO is still a very important.

SAP Business Innovation

(Disclosure: I started this blog while at SAP. And they are a NewsCred customer So yes, I might be a little biased.) When we started this site, our goal was to emulate some of these awesome examples of brand content marketing hubs you see above. We sought to answer our customers’ biggest early-stage search questions. We refused to publish promotional content. We continuously optimized the design for conversion. And we created a solid business case for the shift from paid, to owned and earned media.

Lesson for brands: Define a solid business case and clear objectives up front and stick to your guns once the plan is approved.

CapGemini’s Content Loop

(Disclosure: this is a NewsCred-powered site.) When I joined NewsCred and became exposed to the Content Loop, I was really blown away at the approach. But don’t take my word for it. Check it out: they use attractive licensed content from well-known publishers to post on Linkedin. When someone clicks on the article it brings them back to their brand content hub. The readers are then invited to follow them on Linkedin, are exposed to deeper forms of thought leadership content and they are invited to connect directly with consultants.

Lesson for brands: great content can drive engagement, community and direct leads for sales.

Target does a great job creating a Life and Entertainment-style online magazine with great tips on recipes, fashion, and tips on MANAGING major life events like back-to-school and the holidays. They bring their bold brand and fashion on a budget approach to life with the stories they tell. With tips like 9 Ramen Hacks For Your College Dorm, how could they go wrong?

Lesson for brands: Focus on serving your audience and bringing your brand to life in an authentic and engaging way.

Red Bull’s Red Bulletin

I’ve covered content marketing lessons from Red Bull Media House recently and so have so many others. There is a reason this brand is leading the way in building a publishing business that supports the reason behind the products they sell, and is the envy of many in marketing. Because these guys get the power of effective storytelling.

Lesson for brands: Take the buzz phrase “act like a publisher” literally. Divert paid media dollars to create in-house production resources and brand assets that will provide value in the long term.

P&G Everyday

This blog from P&G is nothing flashy but it provides useful tips for that classic P&G target audience of “busy Moms on the go.” The style is completely consistent with every television ad you may have seen or coupon insert you may have clipped way back in the day when your family received the weekly newspaper.

Lesson for brands: know your target customer and deliver the things they want or need in a simple and useful way.

Williams-Sonoma Taste

This highly stylized blog from the provider of upscale cooking utensils, appliances and ingredients appeals to the high-end luxury market they are catering to.

The Etsy Blog

This leader in the “maker movement” uses their blog to highlights the best “shops” they support through interesting stories, editors’ picks and DIY projects. This site essentially re-imagines the way they merchandise their talent by focusing on the best stories and curating interesting and popular shops and shop owners.

Lesson for brands: think outside the traditional merchandising box and imagine how to highlight the stories behind what you sell.

General Mills Tablespoon

Billed as “the place to feed your fix for recipes, food hacks, how-tos and party ideas” this site from General Mills is almost completely unbranded and serves to drive community around more than just recipes. The folksy approach gets to the heart of their target audience who is passionate about food and sharing recipes.

Lesson for brands: Focus on building community around your branded content marketing hub based on your audience’s passions.

Birchbox Magazine

The Birchbox Magazine and Men’s Guideprovides original content that helps their customers get the most out of samples. They are offering “inspiration, advice, and information to master techniques and upgrade your daily routine with articles, expert interviews, and videos.”

Lesson for brands: any business model can be extended through a branded content marketing hub.

Google confirmed on Tuesday that it's has rolled out some new tools and that will encourage web masters all over to start focusing on creating a more mobile friendly user experience. The company has officially gone live with "mobile friendly" labels mentioned last month as well as some brand new mobile testing tools. Google has also hinted that it is currently testing a mobile rank signal that would boost the rankings of websites providing a great mobile experience.

In a post released yesterday, Google hinted that, “we are also experimenting with user-mobile friendly criteria in their ranking algorithms,” a change that will likely have web developers honed in on making the best websites imaginable for a smaller screen to reap the benefits of good SEO.

What's with the Special Treatment?

So here’s what’s going on - On Tuesday, Google mentioned that for all sites that have earned a "mobile friendly" label (see example below), these sites would also get a boost in results through a ranking algorithm. This update comes as no surprise since Google has always been focused on making their products as friendly as possible to its users. This is a big reason why it started penalizing sites that provided a bad mobile user experience back in June 2013 and why the company is now focused on boosting the rankings of mobile-friendly sites that provide a good experience for the user.

Last month, it was rumored that Google was testing out mobile-friendly labels next to website links in search results to let users know which sites were mobile-friendly and which sites weren't:

Since there has already been a penalty out there for non-mobile friendly websites for some time, it would make sense that websites that have gone above and beyond to ensure they win Google’s stamp or approval for user friendliness would get a boost.

What are Google's Ranking Factors?

To help determine whether or not a website is up to Google’s standards, Google has released amobile friendly test that will show you what they’re looking for and even analyze your current website of mobile friendliness.

Site owners may also use the mobile usability report within Google Webmaster Tools.

These two tools will likely determine whether or not your website good enough for a mobile search ranking promotion or demotion.

According to Google, here’s how to get the “mobile friendly” label:

Avoid using software that isn’t common for mobile devices – Adobe’s Flash is a big one to avoid putting on a website.
Go for a responsive web design, which creates a defined viewing area that adjusts to the device’s screen size.
Making sure content flows in this viewport so that users don’t have to scroll horizontally or pinch the screen in order to see the entire page.
Using fonts and text that scale for easy reading on smaller screens
Adding easy-to-touch elements – big buttons that are well spaced between one another (for those big fingers!).

When Should We Start Seeing This New Ranking Factor?

Google has declined to mention when exactly this new ranking factor will be in effect but is currently conducting A/B tests of the mobile criteria involving thousands of users. During an A/B test, some users see one version while the other half sees a different version; these two results are compared against each other to see which one performs better. The new ranking factor will likely commence along with the "mobile-friendly" labels being tested out last month.

While we don’t know when this will begin, the new ranking factor would likely fuel developers into creating something even more spectacular and mobile friendly so they don’t miss out on all the mobile traffic.

It’s very easy to think that women and Millennials use Pinterest to waste time. But according to Forbes Magazine, Pinterest may present a very significant growth potential for business.

The statistics show that over 70% of the U.S. Pinterest users are women, which is great if your target market is composed of mostly women—especially since some estimatesshow that women make 85% of all consumer purchases. The Forbes article continues: “Through September 2014, Pinterest’s users have created more than 750 million boards made up of more than 30 billion individual pins, with 54 million new ones added each day. During the 2013 holiday season Pinterest ACCOUNTED for nearly a quarter of all social sharing activity. Among social networks, only Facebook, with its 1.3 billion users, drives more traffic to Web publishers.”

But why Pinterest? The point of pinning (What’s Pinterest?) is to gather followers or at least like-minded people, as is the point of most social media. The goal for business is to attract attention from prospects and customers, and the content in this case is a picture instead of a 140-character Tweet, or a post.

Total user base of Pinterest may top 40 million; men users doubled in past year

Pinterest is big business, and it’s growing. Pinterest’s user base is projected to top 40 million this year, putting it in the same league as Twitter and Instagram domestically. Moreover, international users now make up nearly half of the new signups.

Another impressive statistic: Pinterest has doubled the number of active MALE users in the past year, with more attention made every day to its “dude problem,” as mentioned in a Digiday August 2014 video, in which Pinterest’s head of partnerships, Joanne Bradford, pledges their intention to become more bro-friendly.

Timbalan menteri berkenaan Datuk M Saravanan berkata ia juga bagi memastikan kesinambungan kepimpinan masa depan negara, mengurangkan jurang generasi dalam kalangan belia, mempercepat proses kematangan dan mengurangkan tingkah laku berisiko dalam kelompok belia.

"Ia juga bagi menstabilkan identiti diri belia, memantapkan proses pembangunan belia merangkumi kecerdasan intelektual, spiritual, emosi dan fizikal selain menjamin keamanan dan kestabilan negara," katanya.

Beliau menjawab soalan Senator Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian yang mahu kementerian menyatakan matlamat utama cadangan penurunan had umur itu pada persidangan Dewan Negara hari ini.

Sim juga bertanya apakah kesan pelaksanaan had umur itu terhadap kewujudan dan perkembangan organisasi belia di seluruh negara.

Waking up early offers you opportunities that few get to enjoy – watch the sun rise, hear the sound of birds chirping, and just be still. We are always on the move. Sit and enjoy the morning calm. It’s a brief time where you can be alone with your thoughts. Just breathe.

Selepas mencadangkan hukuman sebat mandatori dikenakan ke atas ejen yang didapati bersalah membawa masuk pekerja asing secara haram ke Malaysia, Kementerian Dalam Negeri (KDN) hari ini mahu hukuman sama turut dikenakan kepada pegawai dan kakitangan Jabatan Imigresen yang bersekongkol dengan ejen berkenaan.

Menteri berkenaan Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi berkata perbincangan ke arah pelaksanaan hukuman itu akan dimulakan minggu ini melibatkan penasihat undang-undang KDN, Jabatan Imigresen dan Jabatan Peguam Negara.

"Kita ingin cadangkannya kepada kerajaan setelah perbincangan ini selesai kerana saya berpandangan hukuman penjara dan denda tidak memadai untuk memastikan perbuatan itu daripada berulang.

"Jika ia melibatkan pindaan Akta Imigresen, kita akan bawa ke Parlimen. Namun jika sebaliknya, kita hanya akan pinda atau masukkan klausa berkenaan hukuman itu pada peraturan Imigresen sedia ada," katanya.

Bercakap pada sidang media selepas menghadiri sambutan Hari Imigresen, Zahid berkata walaupun kakitangan Imigresen bersekongkol dengan ejen pekerja asing hanya kes terpencil, cadangan hukuman itu perlu dibuat bagi memastikan nama baik jabatan itu terpelihara.

"Saya tidak malu untuk menyatakan perkara ini sebab lebih baik kita malu sedikit sekarang daripada dimalukan kemudian dalam hal pembenterasan dan pembersihan pekerja asing tanpa izin (PATI)," katanya.

Beliau berkata pelaksanaan hukuman itu akan membantu usaha kementerian untuk membersihkan 100% anasir jahat yang merosakkan imej dan membangkitkan persepsi negatif orang ramai terhadap Jabatan Imigresen, sekaligus mengurangkan kebarangkalian berlakunya insiden seperti kejadian banjir lumpur di Cameron Highlands, Pahang baru-baru ini.

"Saya tumpu kepada jabatan Imigresen kerana mengikut laporan anti rasuah yang dibentangkan Suruhanhjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) kepada Kabinet baru-baru ini, jabatan ini berada di tempat teratas daripada 10 agensi dan jabatan," katanya.

Menurutnya Polis DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM) juga disenaraikan dalam laporan SPRM itu.

Bagaimanapun, Zahid berkata di sebalik tanggapan negatif, Jabatan Imigresen melalui bahagian penguatkuasaan sebenarnya berjaya mengurangkan nisbah pekerja asing sah dan tidak sah iaitu daripada 30 pekerja yang sah, hanya 10 adalah PATI.

Ini berbeza daripada nisbah sebelum Program Penyelesaian Menyeluruh Pekerja/Pendatang Tanpa Izin (6P) dilaksanakan, iaitu 10 pekerja asing yang sah manakala 30 adalah PATI, katanya.

Pada majlis itu, Zahid melancarkan buku Pas Sempadan bagi memasuki Malaysia/Thailand.

Pemohon hanya perlu membayar RM10 untuk buku itu yang tempoh sah lakunya selama setahun.

Buku Pas Sempadan itu menggantikan dokumen cetakan biasa bersaiz A4 yang dikeluarkan kepada warganegara Malaysia bermaustautin melebihi satu tahun di Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis dan daerah Hulu Perak. –

The Star hari ini melaporkan pengarahnya Datuk Jame Alip berkata, jabatan itu tidak pernah melarang sesiapa pun memakai simbol keagamaan di sekolah.

"Pelajar boleh memakai lambang salib atau simbol mana-mana agama lain, asalkan ia tidak terlalu besar atau dijadikan barang perhiasan," beliau dipetik sebagai berkata, sambil menambah yang sekolah itu tidak pernah menghalang sesiapa memakai simbol keagamaan.

Bagaimanapun, akhbar itu melaporkan, ibu bapa dikehendaki memaklumkan pihak sekolah dan mengisi beberapa borang bagi membenarkan anak mereka memakai simbol keagamaan, termasuk lambang salib, ke sekolah.

Menurut pengetua sekolah itu, ia bertujuan mengekang kejadian di mana pelajar semakin ramai yang memakai rantai dan barangan perhiasan lain di sekolah bagi tujuan selain kegunaan agama.

Akhbar Sabah, Daily Express melaporkan semalam, pelajar SM Ken Wah di Keningau dilarang memakai lambang salib ke sekolah kecuali setelah mereka memperolehi kebenaran dari lembaga disiplin sekolah.

Katanya, peraturan itu termasuk di bawah kategori kebersihan diri yang harus dipatuhi pelajar, di mana turut disenaraikan ialah pelajar tidak dibenarkan memakai barang kemas dan simbol keagamaan ke sekolah.

Seorang bapa memberitahu media, beliau mendapat tahu mengenai peraturan itu selepas menghadiri taklimat yang diadakan bagi ibubapa yang mendaftar pelajar baru ke sekolah itu pada 7 November. – 2 Disember, 2014.

Overusing social media

We all enjoy a sneaky Facebook stalk every once in a while, but do it too often and you could become depressed, according to researchers in Germany.

They found that overuse of Facebook can pose a serious risk to our mental wellbeing.

Checking out other people’s holiday photos was the major culprit, with one in three study participants reporting that this made them feel depressed or lonely.

Twitter is no better, with a University of Vermont study finding that Twitter users gradually become more stressed and unhappy the more they use the site.

Relying on diet products

When your sweet tooth is crying out for sugar, it can be tempting to turn to sugar-free diet options. Sadly these substitute snacks aren’t as guilt-free as you’ve been led to believe.

In place of sugar, manufacturers will often use nasty artificial alternatives to provide that sweet taste.

Aspartame, commonly found in diet drinks, was found to increase your risk of obesity by 41 per cent in a University of Texas Health Science Centre study.

Psychologists in a separate study at Cornell University observed that phrases like ‘sugar-free’ can subconsciously trigger overeating. In some cases, this meant people ate twice as many calories as they would have done if they opted for the full-sugar version.

Focusing on stomach toning

All too often we become fixated on trying to develop a rock hard stomach by performing endless crunches. If this sounds like you, you’re wasting your time.

Want to know just how useless crunches are? A Men’s Health study found that you’d have to do a staggering 22,000 of them to lose just a pound of fat off your stomach.

If you want to lose weight, focus on high intensity interval training instead.

HIIT increases your metabolic rate for up to 24 hours after you exercise, and boosts fat oxidation.

Wearing high heels too often

Who can resist a pair of killer hills for accentuated legs and an instant confidence boost?

Wear them too frequently however, and your feet won’t be thanking you.

Wearing four-inch heels increases the pressure on your feet by around 30 per cent, leading to damaged tendons, reduced circulation and bone and nerve deterioration.

Not getting enough calcium

A recent survey conducted by Creighton University Medical Centre showed that 85% of women don’t get enough calcium per day, which leads to an increased risk of osteoporosis.

It’s recommended that women between the ages 19 to 50 need a daily calcium intake of 1,000mg.

Topping up on calcium is easy with dairy products like milk and natural yoghurt. If dairy doesn’t agree with you, you’ll also find high levels of calcium in fish such as salmon and sardines and even leafy veg.

Using electronics before bed

That one last game of Candy Crush you squeeze in before you hit the hay could be ruining your sleep pattern, if researchers in Sweden are to be believed.

They observed that people who use mobile phones or tablets directly before going to sleep found it harder to doze off, causing lasting health issues.

As well as displaying signs of insomnia, these pre-sleep tech-addicts suffered from headaches throughout the day.

Eating what your date eats

Next time you’re on a hot date, psychologists suggest you need to spend more time checking what’s on your plate than staring into your partner’s eyes.

University of Birmingham researchers have discovered a link between new relationships and weight gain, particularly in women.

According to their findings, when dining with a new partner you subconsciously mirror their portion sizes, which can lead to weight gain if they eat more than you’re used to.

50gm koko oreo
1 biji kuning telur
1 sudu kecil esen vanila
1 sudu besar tepung jagung

Bahan-bahan untuk inti tat:
250gm keju
100gm gula
1 biji telur
1 sudu kecil serbuk limau nipis

Cara menyediakan:
1. Satukan semua bahan inti tat. Kemudian pukul hingga kembang.
2. Untuk membuat kulit tat, pukul mentega, gula dan telur hingga kembang.
3. Masukkan esen vanila dan pukul hingga rata.
4. Masukkan tepung gandum, koko oreo dan tepung jagung. Gaul hingga sebati.
5. Ambil sedikit adunan dan masukkan ke dalam acuan tat. Bentukkan lubang di tengah- tengah acuan.
6. Masukkan inti tat ke dalam lubang acuan.
7. Bakar pada suhu 180 darjah selsius hingga masak.

SAN FRANCISCO — After two years of popping up at high-profile events sporting Google Glass, the gadget that transforms eyeglasses into spy-movie worthy technology, Google co-founder Sergey Brin sauntered bare-faced into a Silicon Valley red-carpet event on Sunday.

He’d left his pair in the car, Brin told a reporter. The Googler, who heads up the top-secret lab that developed Glass, has hardly given up on the product — he recently wore his pair to the beach.

But Brin’s timing is not propitious, coming as many developers and early Glass users are losing interest in the much-hyped, $1,500 test version of the product: a camera, processor, and stamp-sized computer screen mounted to the edge of eyeglass frames. Google itself has pushed back the Glass roll out to the mass market.

While Glass may find some specialized, even lucrative, uses in the workplace, its prospects of becoming a consumer hit in the near future are slim, many developers say.

Of 16 Glass app makers contacted by Reuters, nine said they had stopped work on their projects or abandoned them, mostly because of the lack of customers or the limitations of the device. Three more have switched to developing for business, leaving behind consumer projects.

Plenty of larger developers remain with Glass. The nearly 100 apps on the official website include Facebook and OpenTable, although one major player recently defected: Twitter.

“If there was 200 million Google Glasses sold, it would be a different perspective. There’s no market at this point,” said Tom Frencel, the chief executive of Little Guy Games, which put development of a Glass game on hold this year and is looking at other platforms, including the Facebook-owned virtual-reality goggles Oculus Rift.

Several key Google employees instrumental to developing Glass have left the company in the last six months, including lead developer Babak Parviz, electrical engineering chief Adrian Wong, and Ossama Alami, director of developer relations.

And a Glass funding consortium created by Google Ventures and two of Silicon Valley’s biggest venture capitalists, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Andreessen Horowitz, quietly deleted its website, routing users to the main Glass site.

Google insists it is committed to Glass, with hundreds of engineers and executives working on it, as well as new fashionista boss Ivy Ross, a former Calvin Klein executive. Tens of thousands use Glass in the pilot consumer program.

“We are completely energized and as energized as ever about the opportunity that wearables and Glass in particular represent,” said Glass Head of Business Operations Chris O’Neill.

Glass was the first project to emerge from Google’s X division, the secretive group tasked with developing “moonshot” products such as self-driving cars. Glass and wearable devices overall amount to a new technology, as smartphones once were, that will likely take time to evolve into a product that clicks with consumers.

“We are as committed as ever to a consumer launch. That is going to take time, and we are not going to launch this product until it’s absolutely ready,” O’Neill said.

Brin had predicted a launch this year, but 2015 is now the most likely date, a person familiar with the matter said..

Google dubbed the first set of several thousand Glass users as “Explorers.” But as the Explorers hit the streets, they drew stares and jokes. Some people viewed the device, capable of surreptitious video recording, as an obnoxious privacy intrusion, deriding the once-proud Explorers as “Glassholes.”

“It looks super nerdy,” said Shevetank Shah, a Washington, D.C.-based consultant, whose Google Glass now gathers dust in a drawer. “I’m a card-carrying nerd, but this was one card too many.”

Glass now sells on eBay for as little as half list price.

Some developers recently have felt unsupported by investors and, at times, Google itself.

The Glass Collective, the funding consortium co-run by Google Ventures,INVESTED in only three or four small startups by the beginning of this year, a person familiar with the statistics said.

A Google Ventures spokeswoman declined to comment on the number of INVESTMENTS and said the website was closed for simplicity. “We just found it’s easier for entrepreneurs to come to us directly,” she said.

The lack of a launch date has given some developers the impression that Google is still treating Glass as an experiment.

“It’s not a big enough platform to play on seriously,” said Matthew Milan, founder of Toronto-based software firm Normative Design, which put on hold a Glass app for logging exercise and biking.

Mobile game company Glu Mobile, known for its popular “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood” title, was one of the first to launch a game on Glass. “Spellista,” a puzzler released a year ago, is still available, but Glu has discontinued work on it, a spokesman for the company said.

Another developer, Sean McCracken, won $10,000 in a contest last year for creating an aliens-themed video game for Glass, “Psyclops,” but Google never put it on the official hub for Glass apps, making it tougher to find. He has quit working on updates.

Still, there are some enthusiastic developers. Cycling and running app Strava finds Glass well-suited for its users, who want real-time data on their workouts, said David Lorsch, vice president of business development. And entrepreneur Jake Steinerman said it is ideal for his company, DriveSafe, which detects if people are falling asleep at the wheel.

In April, Google launched the Glass at Work program to help make the device useful for specific industries, such as healthcare and manufacturing. So far the effort has resulted in apps that are being tested or used at companies such as Boeing and YUM Brands’ Taco Bell.

Google is selling Glass in bulk to some businesses, offering two-for-one discounts.

CrowdOptic, which uses Glass as portable computers for surgeons and other people out of offices, is currently in use at 19 U.S. hospitals and expects that to grow to 100 hospitals early next year, said Chief Executive Jon Fisher.

Alex Foster began See Through, a Glass advertising analytics firm for business, after a venture firm earlier this year withdrew its offer to back his consumer-oriented Glass fitness company when it became clear no big consumer Glass release was imminent.

“It was devastating,” he said. “All of the consumer glass startups are either completely dead or have pivoted,” to enterprise products or rival wearables.

To compensate for its significant footprint, Apple equipped the iOS 8-powered 6 Plus with a special Reachability feature that pulls the top of the screen down to within reach of your thumb whenever you double-tap the home button.

What’s more, a new landscape view takes advantage of the phone’s larger display by letting you view apps like Mail, Calendar, and Stocks (not to mention the home screen) in a horizontal landscape orientation rather than the traditional portrait view.

The 6 Plus is also the first, and only, iPhone to get an 8-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, so your photos will look great even if you take them while you’re moving.

4. LG G3LG’s G3 is one of the rare smartphones that sports an enormous display yet won’t be mistaken for the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey. In fact, despite its 5.5-inch display, the G3 is only slightly larger than Samsung’s 5-inch Galaxy S5. That’s some impressive space saving.

Like the Galaxy Note 4, the Android KitKat-powered LG G3 also offers multitasking by letting you open two onscreen apps at once, as well as multiple resizable windows apps. And as with many of the other contenders on this list, the G3’s 13-megapixel camera comes with optical image stabilization.

The G3, however, takes some flak for its Rear Key button, which sees the power and volume buttons move from the side of the handset, like a traditional phone, to the back panel. Once you get acclimated to its odd design, though, the G3 is a certified winner.

5. OnePlus OneThe OnePlus One is the odd man out in this roundup, as it’s easily the least well known of the group. But that doesn’t mean you should overlook this 5.5-inch handset. That’s because you can buy this bad boy off-contract for just $300. That’s more than $300 less than your average smartphone.

But don’t think that just because the OnePlus One is inexpensive, that it’s cheap. On the contrary, this smartphone easily rivals its biggest competitors thanks to its gorgeous display, excellent sound, and slim design. Oh, yeah — it’s also incredibly fast and offers an impressive battery life.

The One is also the only phone in this group to run on the highly modified and customizable CyanogenMod for Android.

The problem? Well, it’s the only smartphone on this list with a camera that doesn’t offer optical image stabilization. And it’s rather hard to get your hands on one. At the moment, you have to SIGN UP for an invite to be able to purchase the handset. But if you’re willing to wait, the One should prove well worth it.

6. Google Nexus 6Before its unveiling, Google’s Motorola-made Nexus 6 was known by the folks in nerd circles by its codename, “Shamu.” Well, it turns out that there was good reason for the moniker, because with a 6-inch display, this Google phone easily dwarfs all of its predecessors.

Beyond its ginormous screen size, the Nexus 6 also gets a 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization. But the Nexus 6 gets special recognition for being the first smartphone in the world to come preloaded with Google’s new Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system.

And as a Google phone, the Nexus 6 is also guaranteed to get the latest Android updates as soon as they’re available, rather than having to wait months for your handset manufacturer to provide a modified version of the operating system.

Baby sleep unsafe place

Despite the link between infant bedding and SIDS, the use of pillows and blankets in cribs is still widespread.

Babies, soft, delicate things that they are, typically spend their waking hours surrounded by items of equal softness: plush toys, cushy diapers, fleecy onesies.

When it comes to sleeping, though, the instinct to envelop a baby in all that softness can be a dangerous one. Putting infants to bed with blankets and pillows has been linked to sudden infant death syndrome, or SIDS, one of the leading causes of infant mortality in the U.S. Even so, more than half of American babies still sleep with unsafe bedding, according to a report published today in the journal Pediatrics.

Researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention examined the survey responses of around 19,000 parents in the National Infant Sleep Position study, compiled between 1993 and 2010. The practice has declined from 85 percent in 1993, they found, but around 55 percent of infants are still covered by or laid on top of bedding while they sleep, a deceptively dangerous state. The use of bedding went down by around 20 percent each year until 2010, when it began to drop much more slowly.

“Parents have good intentions but may not understand that blankets, quilts, and pillows increase a baby's risk of SIDS and accidental suffocation,” Carrie Shapiro-Mendoza, the study’s lead author and a senior scientist at the CDC, said in astatement. While overall rates of SIDS—a phenomenon with no one clear cause—have decreased in recent years, from 66.3 deaths per 100,000 infants in 2000 to 52.7 in 2010, deaths from sleep suffocation have more than doubled over the same time period.

The American Academy of Pediatrics firstrecommended that infants sleep on their backs in 1992, the year before the survey began; since then, pediatricians have added several additional layers to the definition of a “safe sleep environment.” In 1996, the AAP declared that sleeping areas should be “free of soft surfaces and gas-trapping objects.” Three years later, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, in conjunction with the AAP and the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development, issued a safety alert that babies “be placed to sleep on their backs on a firm, tight-fitting mattress in a crib that meets current safety standards and that pillows, quilts, comforters, sheepskins, and other pillow-like soft products be removed from the crib.” The AAP issued another, more forceful warning against the use of any kind of bedding in 2000, and again in 2011.

According to the most current guidelines from the National Institutes of Health, the safest way for a baby to sleep is alone in a crib, on its back, on a firm mattress covered only by a fitted sheet.

Often, though, the safest method isn’t the one that parents see.

“Parents get a lot of mixed messages” about how to put their infants to sleep, Shapiro-Medoza told The New York Times. “A relative will give them a quilt or a fluffy blanket that they may feel obligated to use, or they look at magazines and see a baby sleeping with a pillow.”

“Media messages targeted toward pregnant women and mothers of infants may also be related to the high prevalence of using certain types of bedding,” the researchers wrote, citing a 2009 study finding that more than two-thirds of relevant photos in women’s magazines showed babies in unsafe sleeping environments. “Seeing images such as these may reinforce beliefs and perceptions that having these items in the infant sleep area is not only a favorable practice, but also the norm.”

Did you know that cooking carrots actually make their nutrients more bioavailable to you? And their nutrients are best absorbed if eaten with a little fat, so feel free to saute with that olive oil!
That Popeye knew a thing or two about veggies, and his preferred leafy green is one of the most vitamin-packed foods you can find! Spinach also has anti-cancer carotenoids and it is a great source of iron. But don't overcook spinach, or you risk losing much of its nutritional value. (Baby spinach salad? Now you're talking.)
Tomatoes are really a fruit, but we do love to treat them like a vegetable. And lucky for us, they are packed with lycopene and plentiful vitamins making this fruit-in-veggie-clothing another effective cancer fighter.
Kale has been a darling of the food nutrition for a few years now and for excellent reasons. Kale is a great source of antioxidant vitamins A, C, and K and phytonutrients, plus many cancer fighting nutrients. (Feel a little skeptical about Kale? Try making kale chips in the oven. Even my 4 year old can't get enough!)
You've probably noticed by now that all these very healthy vegetables are also bright and colorful! Ruby-colored beets are a unique source of phytonutrients called betalains which are great for anti-inflammatory and detoxification support. Try them raw in a salad for the most nutritional impact.
Pass over regular white potatoes for their orange-hued cousin, sweet potatoes! These guys are full of beta-carotene, plus manganese and vitamins C and E.
Like tomatoes, bell peppers are actually a fruit, but treated like a vegetable. All peppers are a great source of nutrients, whether spicy or mild, but go for color. Red bell peppers are full of fiber, folate, vitamin K, and the minerals molybdenum and manganese.
Much maligned Brussels sprouts are a fabulous source of folate, plus vitamins C and K as well as being very high in fiber. My tip: they are really great roasted which caramelizes and brings out their sweet flavor. Drizzle them with balsamic vinegar!
Eggplant is known for being high in antioxidants and being helpful in both lowering blood pressure and weight management. Don't be afraid of eating the skin which contains some awesome antioxidants!

Want to be happier at work? Try taking time out for these proven techniques.

Breaking news. In 2013, unhappy employees outnumbered happy ones by two to one worldwide, according to Gallup. Based on studies that took place in 142 countries and contained approximately 180 million employees, only "13 percent of employees worldwide are happily engaged at work."

Of course, you probably didn't need statistics to know that. Being miserable at work has just become a way of life. Or, has it?

I've been trying to be happier each and every day. With 2014 coming to an end, it's time to turn over that new leaf and start actually being happy at work. But how can you accomplish such a seemingly hopeless task?

Try these 15 proven tactics that will make you happy at workplace.

1. Have a Sense of Meaning

In 1983 Steve Jobs convinced future Apple CEO John Sculley to leave his job at PepsiCo by asking him one question: "Do you want to spend the rest of your life selling sugared water or do you want a chance to change the world?"

Why was this so effective? Besides sparking his curiosity and imagination, it gave Scully the chance to do meaningful work. This has been backed by research from Wharton management professor Adam Grant, who has found that "employees who know how their work has a meaningful, positive impact on others are not just happier than those who don't; they are vastly more productive, too." Additional research from Harvard professor Teresa Amabile has discovered that no matter the size of a goal--whether curing cancer or helping a colleague--having a sense of meaning can contribute to happiness in the workplace.

2. Create an 'Office Nest'

Jennifer Star, a founding partner of the Balance Team, notes on Monster that since you spend so much time at work, if you want to improve your happiness there you should "make your space your own, decorate your area as much as your company policy permits, and make yourself as comfortable and relaxed as you can be in your office."

3. Find a Work Best Friend

Research from my free hosting startup Hostt has found "that having a best friend at work can turn a moderately engaged worker into a highly engaged worker." When I hire people, I try and really pay attention to referrals of workers. When workers are engaged in friendships they contribute more to the bottom line.

Christine Riordan states in the Harvard Business Review that employees who "have friends at work perceive their job as more fun, enjoyable, worthwhile, and satisfying." Furthermore, having friends at work can create a support system, comradery and a sense of loyalty.

4. Smile

Something as simple as smiling can improve your happiness at work because it tells your brain to be more happy--thanks to the release of neuropeptides. Smiling is also contagious and will make your co-workers smile as well.

5. Leave Personal Problems at Home

Julie Morgenstern, author of Time Management From the Inside Out, informs CBS News that "when your personal life is in tumult, a lot of emotional hijacking goes on. Emotions consume you and stress exhausts you." When it happens that you have an inordinate amount of stress, it will seem like your work is never ending, you will watch the clock, and you will be distracted from being more productive.

While it's easy for your personal life to carry over into your professional life, make sure that you attend to personal matters before heading out for the workday.

6. Be Future Oriented

According to experts like Geoffrey James, "you'll make better decisions and be more satisfied with your results if you know that most of what you're doing in your work at this time still fits into your long-term plans and goals. That's only possible if you keep those plans and goals in the forefront."

7. Say 'Thank You'

Based on experiments from Professor Francesca Gino of the Harvard Business School and Professor Adam Grant of the Wharton School, "receiving expressions of gratitude makes us feel a heightened sense of self-worth, and that in turn triggers other helpful behaviors toward both the person we are helping and other people that are around us, too."

In fact, their experiments have discovered that 66% of students helped a fellow student named "Eric" because he thanked them in advance for reviewing his cover letter.

Instead of just saying "thank you" to your peers--and even receptionists and maintenance--you can be proactive and ask for feedback to receive some much-deserved gratitude. Definitely don't ask again if a person you have previously asked is determined to make you feel unappreciated, or if they are continually condemning you or your team.

8. Take a Breather

It's incredibly easy to get burned out during the workday. That's why you need to take a minute and breath before moving on to your next task. Sharon Salzberg, author of Real Happiness at Work, informs Business Insider that "without some breathing space in the face of constant demands, we won't be creative, competent, or cheerful." She also adds that by not taking a break, "we won't get along with others as well, and we won't take criticism without the possibility of imploding. It is a must to control the level of our daily stress."

My friend and marketing expert Liv Longley states that employees also need to take time off to recharge from the stress of work. In fact, taking a VACATION not only relieves stress and recharges us, it can also improve our overall health and make us more productive at work.

9. Eat Healthy and Stay Hydrated

According to Shirly Weiss, a certified holistic health and nutritional counselor and consulting expert for the Balance Team, "maintaining a good diet and keeping yourself properly hydrated throughout your workday can really make a big difference in your energy level and attitude."

Instead of hitting the vending machine for lunch, have meals that involve yogurt, asparagus, honey, cherry tomatoes. Eating foods that keep your blood sugar within a normal range will stop headaches and fatigue, as well as help you concentrate better.

10. Get Organized

Chrystal Doucette suggests on Chron.com that having an organized workplace will help you be better prepared and work more efficiently. It can also improve your happiness since a "clean desk makes the work environment seem less hectic and stressful." In short, you have enough stress with work, so avoid the additional stress that clutter and scrambling for lost items will cause.

11. Don't Multitask

Despite the myth, multitasking isn't effective. Clifford Nass, a psychology professor at Stanford University claims that multitasking "wastes more time than it saves." He also states that it decreases concentration and creativity.

Instead of getting overwhelmed by the amount of work you're trying to juggle through multitasking, focus on one task at a time. Many do well with a simple checklist to accomplish this.

12. Accept People for Who They Are

You can't change who people are. Instead of letting their personalities or actions affect you, take a step back. You could try techniques like counting to 10 before responding to them, avoiding finger-pointing, and maintaining a professional attitude. There are many fantastic books on this subject as well.

13. Move Around

Whether it's finding the time to take a walk outside, run up and down the stairs on your break, stretch, or do a 10-minute exercise, moving around throughout the workday has a number of beneficial effects--even if you already exercise and eat healthy.

As Lifehacker points out, sitting all day and working on a computer can lead to health concerns like weight gain, heart disease, eye strain, and carpal tunnel syndrome.

In short, when you feel better, you'll be in a better place mood-wise as well.

14. Reward Yourself

Whether it's by going out to dinner with your significant other, purchasing a new gadget, enjoying a piece of candy, or giving yourself a pat on the back, (the politician applause), find the time to reward yourself after you've completed a project or had a fruitful day.

You can even take that a step further and prime yourself to be happy. Research has found that doctors who prepared themselves to be happy were able to reach a diagnosis twice as fast as their colleagues.

15. Reflect on the Day

Why are you working so hard? You can answer that question by reflecting on the day and recalling something that was positive. When you record these moments in your notebook, smartphone, tablet, etc., you'll have a reminder of why your work matters to you. You can refer to these statements of positive reflection whenever you need a boost.

Apakah hukum wanita solat dengan memakai telekung dari jenis fabrik lycra?

Memang tidak dinafikan akhir-akhir ini ramai betul yang bertanya mengenai hukum solat wanita yang memakai telekung lycra. Seperti mana diketahui umum, antara syarat sah solat adalah menutup aurat dengan sempurna.

Bagi kaum lelaki, aurat mereka bermula dari pusat hingga ke bawah lutut. Manakala wanita pula, aurat mereka ialah keseluruhan tubuh kecuali muka dan pergelangan tangan sahaja.

Ini bermaksud, tidak sah solat wanita jika aurat tidak ditutupi dengan sempurna hingga menampakkan warna kulit pada tubuh dengan mata kasar secara jelas. Jika hal ini berlaku, maka solat seseorang itu tidak sah dan wajib mendirikannya kembali.

Berhubung isu telekung lycra, hukum solat dan memakainya bergantung kepada tiga keadaan iaitu harus dan sah solat jika telekung itu besar dan tidak melekat pada tubuh. Solat mereka yang memakainya sah dan tidak perlu diragui kerana aurat terpelihara manakala syarat sah solat telah dipenuhi dengan baik.

Makruh hukumnya memakai telekung lycra yang sendat dan melekat pada tubuh hingga kelihatan agak seksi. Namun, solat mereka yang memakai telekung itu adalah sah dan tidak perlu diulangi.

Solat sah tak perlu diulang

Bagaimanapun, haram seorang wanita memakai telekung lycra yang sendat dan melekat pada tubuh di hadapan kaum lelaki yang bukan mahram kerana ia akan menimbulkan fitnah kepada semua pihak. Namun begitu, solat mereka yang memakainya adalah sah dan tidak perlu mengulanginya.

Syarat sah solat sempurna walaupun ia agak sendat. Penanda aurat tidak ditutup dengan sempurna dalam solat ialah apabila warna
kulit boleh dilihat dengan jelas seakan-akan si pemakai tidak berbaju.

Walau bagaimanapun, perlu diingatkan bahawa pemakaian baju ketat dan sendat tetap diharamkan terhadap wanita di luar kawasan rumah walaupun ia dikira menutup aurat dalam solat.

Haram golongan wanita memakai telekung nipis dan jarang hingga menampakkan kulit tubuh atau aurat secara jelas (bukan bayang) seakan-akan tidak berpakaian, apatah lagi apabila berada di hadapan lelaki yang bukan mahram.

Hukum ini bukan sahaja membabitkan perbuatan memakai, tetapi hukum solat mereka. Wanita yang solat dengan telekung seperti itu adalah tidak sah dan wajib mengulanginya kerana auratnya tidak ditutup dengan sempurna bahkan telah dikategorikan sebagai mendedahkan aurat dengan sengaja ketika solat.
