Christmas Gift to My Daughter's Teacher

This is actually not a digiscrapped masterpiece but just a collage with some simple embellishments on it. I saved this on CD and had this craft printed and framed and gave as a Christmas gift to my daughter's preschool teacher. I put all of their pictures together since she was in Nursery until now that she's in Kinder. Next year, my daughter will go to a different school since the Day Care she's attending to for two years now no longer caters Preparatory level.

This gift made her teacher cried because she was one of her favorite students. And the thought of not having her in class next school year made her miss my daughter already.

Celebrated Linggo ng Wika at Cainta Day Care Center. Erin wore her Filipiniana costume, which she had last year. She was one of the students who led the singing of National An them. Then they stood up at the stage to recite their poem entitled “Kahit Ako’y Munting Bata”. She just memorized that poem few days before the event. It’s amazing how kids these days can easily memorize three to four stanzas of poem. At first, they recited it in groups, then one by one. Erin asked me to be in front to remind her of the coming lines. But surprisingly, she finished it without even looking at me, but she forgot to use her hand gestures. When I asked her why she didn’t do any actions, she said “kasi Mommy yun laway ko parang nasa lalamunan ko lng kaya nilulunok ko na lng”. Haha! Stage Fright it is! But still, she bagged the 5th Place.:)

No Reimer Reason Quick Page

I wanted to feature my two children's digitally scrapped photos of their Linggo ng Wika celebration but doing Erin's layout ate up a lot of my time. Thankfully, I had downloaded this neat and simple Quick Page from No Reimer Reason and tada! That was my eldest son in his Pandanggo sa Ilaw costume. I had few pictures of him during the event because I had with me my super hyper youngest daughter Cien. I had videos of their presentation though which reminded me that I have to do some CD burning after making this post. I make it a point to have back ups on CD/DVD of my children's videos recorded through my mobile phone since I only have 2gb memory card in it.

This free quick page from Britt-ish Designs greeted me first when I opened this blog's dashboard. Quick page is so easy to use as you can just drop and drag your pictures over a ready-made layout. I used our photos way back September last year when we all had our first 3D Movie experience with Despicable Me movie. Our two kiddos were both excited to try those shades and even asked if they can bring it home with us lol! We enjoyed that movie over our snacks in take out boxes which hubby bought before we entered the cinema.

A Shameful Truth

After getting my groove into Digital Scrapbook again, I couldn't help myself from searching and searching for lots of freebies. Looking back before, I don't usually scour for free templates instead I looked for free kits alone. I stick to my simple and plain layout ideas. It's not because I don't find any appealing templates, as a matter of fact I found lots of it. Here's the shameful part, before, I don't how to use these free templates! Ugh! I know, I know! It only proved that I am a "trying-hard" digital scrapper after all. Well, the reason why I didn't bother to learn how to use them is because I am busy. I have handful of online and offline tasks during that time and studying and learning about templates can eat much of my precious time.

But hey, hey, hey! Now I know! In fact I'm getting addicted to it! I used free templates in my two previous layouts and it was a breeze! As of the moment I have few downloaded free templates on my lappy that I am sure would need to be stored and saved in CD/DVD anytime soon or else everything will go slow again. Baby we’ve come this far and I am happy that we did. Despite of the roller coaster ride that our marriage had gone through all these years, we’re still here.. together. Thank you for loving me, our children and my family. I pray that we both learn to forgive and forget those things that we did to hurt each other. We may not be both perfect but I’m thankful that we know how to talk and open up to each other and patch things up. Let’s make the following years better than what we had not just for us but most important for our kids. I may not always say “I love you” like you do, but I know you can see and feel it in my actions.

Mommy Lola took this shot. After picking up Erin at school and Cien saw her sister on her uniform, she hurriedly got the other uniform hanged outside the cabinet and forced her Mommy Lola to put it on her. They both looked cute that my mom hurriedly scoured our cabinet and looked for the camera. Though hubby and I were both tired at work, it was all eased out upon seeing these cute photos.

Free People Search Engines and Her Craft

I have a lot of pending projects when it comes to my Digiscrapping. Special events and milestones were all captured in my camera yet the pictures are yet to be touched and scrapped. That reminded me of a particular story I read from one of my fellow Digiscrapper.

She was living in the United States and grew up with her grandparents. Known to all, these people just adopted her when she was still a baby. With their biological children living far from them together with their own family, her arrival brought new joy for the couple.

She lived with them and as a growing child she knew how much she was loved and cared for by these people. Cherished memories were captured in photos and those were neatly stored in frames. However, because of their age, they were not able to enjoy the latest technology such as chatting with their children from other country and seeing their pictures posted in different social networking sites and even to some of free people search engines.

I adored her creations which she posted on her sites. She said she made it for her adopted grandparents and truly made them cry for joy. Wonder what it is? Of course, it is a Digiscrapped photos lol!

But what made it distinct and special for the couple was because it was composed of their family, their biological children with their own children, nieces and nephews. They never saw those kids since birth but through those free people search engines, she managed to contact them and asked them to send pictures of their growing years. The couple said her creation seemed to take them back in time and made them part of those long lost years in their family’s life.

I promised myself though that after my long procrastination mode, I will also try these free people search engines in finding relatives we have lost contact with. With today’s technology, it is almost impossible to know a person who does not have a name in any free people search engines. Starting from any age (though basically they should start with legal age), to any gender and to any walks of life, people can now be easily searched in the Internet.

As I checked my emails last night, I got one from Kirsten Sparks of Digital Scrapbook Experts which I registered myself as a member. As a member I got the privilege to download freebies on a regular basis because they send it through my email address.

And as per her recent email, she announced that they are currently resurrecting the expired Membership Mega-Kits and putting them all on one disc for all of their subscribers and frequent visitors. That is something DSE had never done before according to Kirsten. However, because of the file size and the number of kits that they will give away, it wouldn't fit on a regular CD so they have to call in the company assigned to do the cd duplication and order to shift duplication from CD to DVD.

With tons of coordinating images for our scrapbooking pleasure, digital scrappers should never miss this chance to snag a copy of this mondo mega-kit DVD!

Today we had the best grown-up girl bonding time. Because you saw me looking at some Mango models, you pleaded that I dress you up, apply make up on and take pictures of you. Oh well, Dad is not around so why not? So there, you had become the most adorable model and of course with mommy as your wanna-be photographer. I was amazed at how you projected on the camera without me giving instructions of how you should pose. Maybe, in the future, you will be a model and when that day comes, Mommy will be the most proud and happy mom in the whole world. I love you Erin Girl, my mini-me.

Digital Scrapping has always been my breather whenever I feel like drowning from work just like tonight. I couldn't finish what I am writing and so instead of browsing my Facebook account again while I eat this piece of cake which hubby willingly sliced for me using his newly bought cake cutter (I don't know but he fancied this product the minute we saw it at the supermarket), I just opened my Photoshop Application and created this craft.

I Found a New Digiscrapping Source!

My two children's Moving Up day and Recognition Day is over and of course I acquired lots of pictures from that event. I'm planning to Digiscrap some of those photos but I'm having a hard time looking for cute and extra-ordinary Graduation freebies. I found some but it seemed incompatible with the pictures and the theme that I have in mind. (I made the word freebies because as I always say, I make layouts out of free stuff only, never had the ~~money~~ guts to buy 'em.)

Once again, while doing my freebie-hunt, I stumbled upon Digital Scrapbook Experts and I got hooked up with their Introductory Note and I quoted it here:

A few years ago, my mom and I set out to create a traditional scrapbook themed on our family history. Our plan was to create one page about each of our ancestors and duplicate each page for everyone in our family (5 copies)... BY HAND! We met once a week to work on the scrapbooks, and it didn’t take us too long to find the reasons WHY traditional scrapbooking was not the best method for our project.
This is what we discovered:
We couldn’t copy the scrapbooks – we had to make them one by one so what would have taken 2 hours actually took 10 hours! …If only we had an easy and simple way to make multiple copies…

Every time we made a spelling error or wrote in the wrong date of an event, we had to start over. We couldn’t just erase it and fix it on the spot! I could really see the need for “white out” for scrap books! If we wanted to use a button or ribbon as part of the design, we needed another button or ribbon for every scrap book. Wouldn’t it be great if I could just download a digital image of the button or ribbon or whatever and use it over and over and over again? Instead of having fun making these scrapbooks and getting our project done on time, we had BIG PROBLEMS!

I honestly say that I can relate to this dilemma. So we really have to be thankful to the person who first invented this Digital Scrapbooking! Now, Scrapbooking have become more flexible, easy and fun! The site offers lots of tutorials and freebies as well. Though I didn't find the freebies that I am looking for, at least I found another source for my Digiscrapping needs. Of course, I signed up to them and made myself a member of their group. It's interesting because they intend to share their knowledge, tips and tricks in making high quality scrapbook kits. Tutorials can be found on the site itself but they also offer tutorials in CDs for easy sharing with your loved ones and friends. I don't think that they would allow cd duplication for it but perhaps it is okay if it will be intended for personal use only. Just let them know that you want it and I guess they will just have to charge you for the shipping fee. Nevertheless, you can just browse their site for more infos.

Graduation Freebies

Hubby and I are excited to see our two children go up to the stage and receive their very first diploma. My eldest son will be graduating from Kinder while her sister is from Nursery. As of now, there are no feedback yet if any of them will have honors or special awards perhaps but the fact that they learned a lot in that almost ten months of studying is enough for parents like us. But of course, I'll be a hypocrite if I'll say that I am not wishing awards for my kids.

That's why I braved the Internet tonight for some Graduation Freebies that I can use once my children's Moving Up Day is finished.

Cancelled Date

So it's already March. I don't know if it was because February has only 28 days that it seemed to end so fast or I just got so busy with my work and my family. I was supposed to have a date with my two friends whom I haven't seen for a couple of months now. We intended to spend the whole day chatting and catching up with our lives but my youngest daughter intervened ~~again~~.

Just right after we finalized our gimmick for Saturday, my Mom told me that Cien's temperature seemed a little strange. Immediately I took our digital thermometer and indeed, she has a slight fever. And that's about it.

I texted my two friends that if my daughter's fever won't be gone by the following day, I have no choice but to cancel our date. They said they understand and said will wait for my message early in the morning. Cien's fever remained to be 38 at around 5am, and since I am already awake by that time, I officially cancelled our supposed to be girl bonding (sad).

Once again, the mommy-in-me rose up, that even though my Mom assured me that she can take care of my daughter and that I can still go, I said no. I can't afford to have fun when I know that my daughter is not feeling well, I want her to be as lively and happy as she was in these pictures when I leave her and go out for a gimmick:
