I love showing my work on this blog but I do wonder if anyone ever looks at it as I never seem to get any messages. If you do come to read my blog here PLEASE could you let me know even if it is just I DO. Much appreciated.

I've called this piece - 'Life and love' as the colour red is known to bring good luck, happiness and prosperity at any time of the year not just at Christmas.

My life revolves around textiles and felt of which I sell via the internet. I would much rather prepare fabrics and lace for sale or make beautiful felt pieces than sit at the computer. BUT alas it has to be done. SO now you know what I am doing all day today.

This year has been very difficult for me. To get through it all I have concentrated in the main on my art work, felting and embroidery have been my saviours.

Now that I seem to have come out to the other side I am ready to start sharing my creations.

I have called this art piece 2018 Hot Summer.

It is all handmade including the felt that the textiles and embroidery have been added to. The felt has been made using merino wool fibres and pure silk strands and felted by the wet felting method.

I love to use antique textiles in my work and the flower above is early 19th century.

There is lots of history in this piece as the lace and silks are very old as well. The embroidery threads I used are either antique or vintage. I love to add something different and the little butterfly on the flower has been cut from some antique embroidered braid.

This art piece has been attached to an acid free mount board ready for framing.

I'm trying to put lots of stock into my NuMONDAY shop this week. Yesterday I completed listing the Felted miniture wall hangings of Florence and now I have the complete collection of Garden brooches online in my

Yesterday it was really hot up here in Morecambe 30 degrees. Today is going to be even hotter. I can't remember more than one hot day all the time I've lived here.

Today I am completing an embroidered floral wall hanging I've been working on for a while. I'll show it to you tomorrow. I'm also going to make some small felted pictures today, so windows open and fans on.

Well with one thing and another, this year so far has been rather traumatic. Mum went down hill rapidly since Christmas with lots of falls, numerous A&E admissions and the final stages of vascular dementia. She had to be moved from her care home to a nursing home, it was heartbreaking. My mother died in April and as the only child and executor of her will I've had a lot to sort out. Everything has now been sorted out and I've been able to get myself together by starting to felt again.

I'm going to try to spend more time adding more items to nuMONDAY. I've been hanging on to most of my felt work because I had visions of standing at craft fairs in the future. Whether that willl happen I don't know but in the meantime I need some creations on so that other people can enjoy them.

Robins always cheer me up.

What a lovely little chap, he really cheers me up on this dark and dismal day.

The shot was taken on a walk through the Silverdale RSPB Leighton Moss nature reserve. There were robins everywhere, in fact one flew almost into my granddaughter's face.

Today I pick up my new after my old had engine failure. I'm a little apprehensive, although it is a lovely car it has an electronic hand brake which I've never had before. Just worried about hill starts as I was told that you have to put your foot on the brake when disengaging the hand brake. I will have to have a long chat with the garage and do lots of practice if that is the case. I always feel a little nervous driving different cars for at least the first couple of time but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Off to see mum this afternoon in her care home. She will soon be 91 and has developed alzheimers with vascular dementia. I always feel so sad when I visit her as she is in a world of her own and can't follow a conversation at all. The upside is that she is getting 24 hour care and her room has a wonderful view over Morecambe bay to the hills of the Lake District.

FELTISSIMO SHOP

It has been quite a while since I wrote anything on here and I do apologise.

There has been so many things happening. Firstly I was preparing all of the food for our large 25th wedding anniversary party. Ever since we have been married my husband has been the cook in our house. He has been a star as it has allowed me to get on with my Rag Rescue and Feltissimo business (Now called RR & F Textiles).

However just for once I wanted to prove to myself that I could still cook and I did achieve my aim. I produced all home baked food, a three course banquet for three days for over 20 people at our house. It was wonderful but I was exhausted afterwards.

Then we went on a well deserved holiday, but whilst there I started working embroidering every evening and have continued since.

Yesterday I started putting some handmade nuno felt brooches into my etsy shop, perhaps you would like to have a look. they are great for presents, birthday, Christmas etc and can be worn, placed on bags, used like patches on pockets etc.

Felted cuff bracelet, one of a kind.

This is a handmade one of a kind cuff bracelet.

Combed wool tops have been wet felted turning them into a strong fabric.

The design and various textures have been created with the addition of pre-felts and free machine embroidery.

A felt base has been hand stitched on to the front creating further firmness.

A vintage fabric covered button and vintage silk and wool loop have been added.

Measurements - 24.5cms long with the loop (9.7 inches)
- 5.5/5cms wide. (2.2/2inches)

Washable - Very gently dip and squeeze in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
Lay flat to dry.

I have made this felt wacky house brooch and embroidered it with tiny pink flowers. Machine stitching with silver coloured thread outlines the house, windows and door.

I've stiffened the back of the brooch with a decovil light fabric and added a pretty pink 1960's vintage fabric with a pin.

I always send my brooches in a box and place this in a plastic mailing bag so that the brooch is kept dry during transit.

I have made this felt brooch in the shape of a wacky house. The house is handmade from wool and silk fibres which have been felted together by the wet felting method. Silver coloured machine stitching has outlined the door and windows and green stitching on the roof and around the chimney. I have embroidered tiny pink roses underneath the windows.

This wacky house no. 5 is a red wine colour with a green roof and chimney. There are six wacky houses in this series, all unique.

This wacky felt brooch will make a wonderful addition to a jumper, cardigan, dress or blouse. It would also look great on a bag. Ideal for a Christmas gift.

Felt brooch, sparkling island. Ideal Christmas gift

My inspiration for this pretty felt brooch was a sparkling island and the sea as the sun shone down on them.

I make all of my felt by hand layering wool fibres together and wet felting them so that the fibres become entangled creating a firm felt fabric. For this brooch, I have also added some silk fibres to give more texture. I machined around various areas of the island which has raised them up and added french knots in antique metallic silver thread. Running stitches in the same thread have been added to the sea.

Vintage fabric and pin on the reverse.

The felt brooch will be packaged securely in a box. I will then place the box in a plastic postage bag to keep dry.

Felt and silk brooch in the shape of a boot. Christmas gift

A felt and silk brooch that I have made in the shape of a boot.

When making the felt my the wet felt method I covered the merino wool with pure silk. This has given the brooch a wonderful tactile smoothness. To get a spotted pattern on the boot I needle felted afterwards which has left tiny spots over the surface where the underlying wool shows.

The hand embroidery adds further detail and I used vintage silk threads to work stem stitch and french knots.

Brooches need to be handled quite a lot, so in order to make the brooch firm, I have sandwiched a layer of Decovil light iron interfacing between the felt front and the vintage fabric back to which I added a secure pin.

This pretty felt brooch will make a wonderful addition to a jumper, cardigan, dress or blouse. It would also look great on a bag.

The customer will receive the felt brooch packaged securely in a box. I will then place the box in a plastic postage bag to keep dry.

My inspiration for for this pretty felt brooch was a country garden.

I make all of my felt by hand, using Merino wool fibres. By using the wet felting method, I get the the wool fibres to entangle together to create a firm felt fabric. The machine stitching I have used on the felt brooch has raised some areas creating small flower beds which I filled with embroidery. A variety of stitches were used using vintage recycled silk threads. Further texture was added by using 1930’s rococco ribbon flowers. I also added on this brooch two other lilac vintage flowers, to make this felt brooch unique.

A felt brooch made with merino wool and silk in wonderful multiple shades on a white background. Great Christmas colours.

The four seed pods are made from antique silks which I make on the embellisher machine by layering together different silks. I have then machine stitched around the seed pods which makes them stand up slightly proud. These add further texture to the brooch. I have hand embroidered the stems with tiny chain stitches using a fine antique goldwork thread. French knots complete the embellishments.

The reverse has had the addition of decovil light fabric for further strength and this was then covered with a 1960's vintage fabric. Finally a good strong pin has been stitched to the reverse side.

The felt brooch measures approx 9cms /3.5"long x 4.5cms/1.8" at the widest point.

Ideal for a Christmas gift.

I've made this felt hanger or tag from pink merino wool fibres and silk strands. The felt has been made by a process of wet felting by hand so that the hooks on the wool all lock together creating a strong fabric.

It has been embellished with one of my favourite antique textiles, French toile fabric. This image of a red rose has been sewn onto the felt with machine stitching and further decoration has been added with hand embroidery using vintage cream silks.

The hanger has been stiffened on the reverse with the addition of decovil light fabric and then covered with a vintage 1960's fabric.

A vintage white button has been sewn at the top and attached to it is a pale pink coloured ribbon.

I have made the ribbon quite long so that if wished a bow could be formed.

Measures approx. - 9.5/3.7"cms x 5.cms/2"

These unique hangers/tags can be used in a variety of places in the home, hanging on a wall, door or drawer knob. They could decorate your bag or used as a tag, personalise a special gift. the uses are endless.

I have made this pretty felt brooch with four silk flowers.

This little brooch is handmade The felt has been made using turquoise coloured merino wool fibres with additions of silk fibres. The felt has been made by myself by a process of wet felting so that the hooks on the wool all lock together creating a strong fabric.

The flowers have petals made from antique silk chiffon scarves and have a French knot embroidered at the centre.

In order to make the whole brooch stiffer I have sandwiched a layer of decovil light fabric between the felt and the pretty English 1960's vintage fabric. A pin has been securely stitched onto the reverse.

The brooch measures approx. 4cms(1.6") x 5cms(2") .

From the dark into the light.

I've had quite a difficult year due to my daughter having had breast cancer. This has meant that I haven't been able to do as much felting as I would have like. However when I was able I found it so very theraputic and it helped me get through those dark days. This is the reason why I haven't been able to post anything for at least a year and I miss having conversations with people.

If you like what you see on this blog or if you can make any suggestions as to how I could improve it then please leave a message. I know that there are people out there looking and I would really appreciate being able to chat.
