When visiting Bali should not only to Ubud or Kuta Beach, I suggest you visit a beach that is unique, namely Candi Dasa. This beach is situated on steeply sloping hills, on the highway between the City Semarapura with Amlapura city, located about 50 km eastwards from Denpasar town is within approximately 45 minutes from Denpasar by vehicles through the streets Prof.Dr.Ida Bagus Mantra.

In front of Candi Dasa there is a large pond and from there also we can enjoy beautiful coastal scenery, the sea of vast stretches of Lombok Strait and from the island of Nusa Penida here also clearly visible.

Candidasa is a major destination of the tourists who come to Bali, located in the region Bugbug, Karangasem district. Candi Dasa is highly suitable for water sports like swimming, diving and snorkeling. You can also see several small island which can be reached with a fishing boat (jukung). You will enjoy the underwater panorama of coral reefs and beautiful fishes.

One story that became the myth of the existence of a growing Candidasa temple and is believed by local people is the statue of Goddess Hariti located in a niche at the bottom of the cliff of the hill. It is said that Goddess Hariti narrated in the beginning was a Yaksa in Buddhism, who liked to eat the flesh of children. But after getting enlightenment teachings of Buddhism, the Goddess and then repent and turn to protective and loving children.

Local people believe that the Goddess Hariti means many mothers have children who can give gifts of fertility and prosperity. A Balinese official has said that Ubud was proud to be named the best city in Asia by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler.

The town received the award at the end of 2009, when the prestigious travel publication revealed that Ubud had received an overall rating of 82.5 from holidaymakers, while second-placed Bangkok finished the year with 82.2.

The Conde Nast Traveler’s overall score is compiled from ratings of several categories, including atmosphere, art and culture, accommodation and the friendliness of local people.

People who have stayed in Ubud hotels may note that the destination’s triumph over places such as Bangkok, Singapore and Shanghai is particularly remarkable considering the town has a population of just over 8,000 people.

Bali is a fantastic multi event island. There are many unique events such as Bali Art Festival, Bali Fashion Week, traditional and a lot of unique religious ceremony. The month of August in Bali witnesses the great commemoration anniversary of Bali Province that takes place in August 14th. The running competition takes participation of elite athletes from international, national, public, students and visitor like us.

After a successful launch last year, the Bali provincial tourist office will once again hold the International Bali 10 K race. The actual race will be divided into four categories: an "elite international" grouping, an "elite national" grouping, a general grouping and a final category for student participants. Attractive merchandise and cash prizes have been prepared for each category of participation.

Besakih Temple

Bali is island of Gods. There are thousands of temples in Bali. One of them is Pura Besakih, the Mother Temple of Besakih, in the village of Besakih on the slopes of Mount Agung, is the most important temple of Agama Hindu Dharma in Bali, and one of a series of Balinese temples. Pura Besakih is a must-go place. It signifies the oneness for the kingdom of Balinese Hindus.

Besakih Temple is located in Besakih countryside, Rendang sub district, Karangasem. Honestly, there are conflicting numbers on how many pura (temples) are there within the massive Besakih complex. The local pura guide mentioned of 28 temples, but many people believe that there are about 30 to 38 temples in Besakih temple complex.

Besakih Temple is the biggest Hindu temple in Bali which the local people call Pura Besakih. The omission has come from tradition megalithic which had been indicated that it had to be sanctified place. It seems the Besakih is coming from very old era which is far before the existence of Hinduism influence. Hereinafter, an Ancient Bali king of Sri Kesari Warmadewa found the Merajan Selonding Temple in this temple complex area. He also commands to build the Blanjong Monument that is located in Sanur Village.

The Besakih Temple complex is built pursuant to cosmos balance. It is based on the nature conception which is disseminating the fundamental temple complex that is arranged to pursuant of the way direction. So, this building can deputize nature as symbolic of the world balance existence.

Hindu's Philosophy

Balinese temple is always base on Hindu philosophy and combines with Balinese local wisdom. Balinese arts are can be divided into two major categories. The first is for ceremonial (religious) purposes and the second is for entertainment. However visitors do not have to wait to see Balinese dance, because many restaurants and hotels hold regular dance performances, and there are many arena or amphitheater specially built to hold dance performances for tourists. There are many kind of Balinese dance such as Kecak Dance, Legong Dance, Topeng Dance or Mask Dance, etc.

Topeng Tua is one of the famous Topeng Dance performances. Topeng Tua is a solo performer dons the mask of very old man, and though his physical movement portrays the thoughts, emotions, and feelings of the character. Most of the regent’s dive sites are found around Menjangan Island. Diving is regulated here. Spear fishing is not allowed and all marine life is protected. Menjangan’s white sandy beaches make a nice location for a lunch break. Underwater, the drop-off along the south shore and eastern tip, facing the Bali ocean, are home to lots of colorful small fish and vertebrates, lacy sea fans and a variety of sponges. The sandy, gradual slopes of Menjangan’s north coast are a final resting place for Bali’s oldest dive able shipwreck, the Anker Wreck. Even large pelagic are sometimes seen at Menjangan. Occasionally sightings of Whales, Whale sharks and Manta rays have been reported. Drift diving is usual, but currents are quite mild and all levels of divers can enjoy this area.

The northwest area has had his share of destructions. El Nino, storms have been hard on the corals. The marine life however is teaming and vibrant.

Day-trippers travelling from Sanur to the east Bali dive locations of Tulamben and Amed will get a look at our traditional Bali. The drive is approx. 3 hours. Diving in Tulamben is normally done from shore, where entry can be challenging. Many people prefer to stay overnight in Tulamben rather than day trip here. The local people are very friendly and Bali International Diving Professionals both support and know the local community. We have been diving in this area before it became developed as a popular dive destination. By diving in Tulamben you are also supporting the local community. Only in Tulamben will you see young and old women alike carrying diving equipment on their heads, to the dive entry points, to earn their living.

Amed and the villages south east of this area are becoming more popular with tourists. Life goes back in time here. For most of the year, the water is generally calm, with minimal to manageable currents. Many sites make excellent drift dives.

The sound of crashing surf on the shores is a part of the Oceanside feel, and the dive sites are part of the seascape. The imposing Gili Tepekong and the four outcrops of Gili Mimpang are directly offshore. Consistent currents flow with the full and varied marine life along the shallow reefs and walls that surround these

mysterious islands.

Padang Bai is a small but busy fishing village. The shore is a convenient place to dive.

When the channel is calm you can do a daytrip from Padang Bai to the reefs of Nusa Penida. Nusa Penida has been famous for its coral reefs and marine life, and also a beautiful sea view from the beach. Sanur is a waste of time to some people; however Bali International Diving Professionals have seen wonderful small creatures like the seahorse and mantis shrimp in this area. We feel that this is a good dive location for novice divers and refresher course participants and for those who do not have much time.

The minute marine life and coral formations make this an interesting, as well as a convenient, dive site. Sanur certainly doesn’t offer Bali’s best diving, but if you want a quick and easy dive this is the place to visit. Sanur beach is the best place to enjoy sunrise and Kuta beach is spectacular for sunset. It has been said that diving in Sanur can be magical if the visibility is good.
