A new 2011

Hellos!

It's my most favourite season -autumn/u-know-it's-going-to-be-winter- time- of- the -year! :)

The wind is strong so put yr jacket/coat on.

Anyhows, 3 quick updates about me:

-ive moved. :) my new place is awesome and i like it.

-im more of an early riser now. that's good so that i will not tuck myslef in bed and skip lectures instead

-i miss 2 of my lecturemates (winie and zara). we are not in the same lectures this year. :C

Why I love my new place?

-as usual, being the eldest and the only girl at home, i dont share. i hv my own space

-i do NOT need to do any chores (from cleaning the toilet to cooking).

being a smart(lazy) person, i choose to stay in a catered hall this year. it's so nice to get back and have warm and proper food served readily, full to the brim in the dining hall. the cleaning lady comes in to my room everyday anytime between 9.30-11 am to clean/vacumm/anything she deems fit and needs to be done.

-the bathroom and toilet is just right in front of my room.

-maybe cause theres an elevator? my room is on the 13th floor!

-i like the ppl in my place. :)

Early riser? Why? Me?

-The cleaning lady comes in between 9.30-11am. Not a good idea to sleep at that time. you wont like ppl seeing u sleep, right? besides, it's noisy with her around cleaning/working. It's also inconvenient for her as well.

-Wake up early means I have to sleep early. This means No late night dramas or any unproductive work to be done till late midnight. Dramas are addictive.

-Healthy. If I insist on living till a good age of 100, I shd age with grace. Be healthy. Live healthy and perhaps eat healthy.

I Miss The Two Girls.

Because I miss them, I have to stop for now. Lunch date with the girls! It's been 2 weeks since class started and I havent met Zara YET.

anyway, just got back from my europe tour two days ago.

18 days - 5 countries !

1) bye exams.

i just finished all my 8 papers for finals. woohoo. :) i now finally get to relax. as for the results, i'll just leave them to God. ive already tried my best and i'll hope for the best though there is one paper that is rather awful and nasty.

2) pre-exams.

a) this easter, ive decided not to travel. so, i spent the entire 6 weeks at home with some irregular trips down to town to shop and eat some delish food. my first two weeks were spent doing my computational methods project. one memories i had from this project was i spent 3 horrendous hours checking letter by letter, number by number, sign by sign for just 1 undetected error for my program. 3 hours in the library seeing the white and black fortran screen. and guess what is the error? miss audrey is too 'smart' that she typed O as 0, meaning i wanted to type capital o but instead what i did was, i keyed in a zero! this error caused me to waste 3 hours of uneasiness and annoyance that i will never get back in my life. see, a little carelessness and i am deemed to pay for the expensive price. but dissatisfaction aside, im glad and thankful that i have completed it.

b) on the 4th week of the study break, i was in the worst state of my life. i was suddenly nervous and anxious. and being a little 'paranoid', i worried a lot about practically everything. at that time, my mum was in china. i needed someone to talk to.i didnt tell my dad cause i didnt want him to be worried. and since i always have a daily conversation with mum, i somehow missed her and wanted to hear her voice let alone, talk to her. i wasnt keen on telling her my issues but i wanted to just talk to her. however, it would be pricey for her to receive my calls. so, i did some short calls and multiple sms-es;at the same time trying to surpress my worries, desperation and sadness. somehow in between, she did sense something wasnt right and by then, i was also too weak to put on a strong mask already. so, i poured out everything. exam stress, some-issues-i'd-not-want-to-mention-here and i admit there was a wave of homesickness. it really affected me. i'd say that was the weakest me. its like ive changed. perhaps i grow weaker as i age? HAHA. (anyway, if im old, then, someone who's reading this is even older. 2 years isnt a small discrepancy! :P)

now, when i look back, im indeed happy and blessed because during that time, my close friends and *cousins* were there for me; skyping with me, listening to me and pointing out when i was blabbering nonsense, giving me advice and encouraging me to be positive. thank you for loving me and for telling me everything will be alright. :)

c) in march i made up my mind to not go back home for the summer break. having gone back for summer last year, i decided to spend this summer here and seeing more of england and of course, going for a euro tour! initially, mum didnt buy my idea in the but she gave in after some reasonings. and we both agreed that it would be a good experience for me if i stayed in uk for summer. honestly, my mum is like a fortress- functioning as both a support and an obstacle. but she is an important fortress to me. she supports me so i dare to dream and have the courage to chase those dreams. on the other hand, she is a positive obstacle which allows me to improve myself and get back on the right track in case, ive drifted away.

d) in april, i went for the royal wedding parade. :) michelle came over that time. my housemate had her friend from her taiwan mission trip over at our house. his name is julius and happened to be my junior in college. however, i didnt know him back then. the 3 of us went for the wedding parade. uhmmmm, we didnt go. i mean we did but there were too many ppl that it became impossible as many entrances have been blocked. we were also hungry, so, we ended up going for lunch in chinatown which of course, followed by desserts! this time, in bubbleology - its a new bubble tea shop opened in soho. im a big fan of bubble tea and wanted to try.

e) my review on bubble tea in bubbleoology: the price is considered alright for me. a large cup is £3.75. its £3.50 at other places for a standard glass. the bubbles/pearls are of better quality compared to other shops. but there werent many choices yet. the employee is nice and friendly. i asked if i can have a choc-coffee bubble tea; which is not in the menu. HAHA.when he served me mine, he told me that no one has ever requested for a mix. HIHIHI. i sure am demanding. :) chelle had almond and chocolate and julius; almond and vanilla. the latter is the best mix ! anyway, im sure they will add in more to their menu in the future.

3) post exams

a) its the end of may now. after i had my final paper, i went for a proper meal with friends and came back home to clean the room! now, im practically relaxing, doing some leisure reading, watching dramas and playing my long-abandoned fb games. :) and of course, more talking with my mum and dad. i called my brother yesterday afternoon after so long. we had a long talk and lotsa sharing and loud hearty laughters.

b) when we talked yesterday, i realized my brother has grown. mentally more matured. he is now 18; a young adult. this is not what that comes to mind when i think about my brother. he now has his own thinkings and ideals; is growing and going through that phase i once have been. i found it amusing that the baby is now a college student. how fast we all grow. but to me, he will always be that baby brother who would always run to the big sister for security and protection whenever he sees a lizard, cockroach or dragonfly, the little boy who would stare at me in astonishment and admiration with his big round eyes, the innocent kid whom i tricked to put plaster on when he was bitten by mosquitos since i didnt want him to annoy me; asking me to scratch for him. most significantly, he is the little boy who acccompanies me in my childhood days; and is still growing up with me; my one and only sibling.

c) last night, i skyped with two awesome girlfriends, meiyun and alice from alice. it was so good talking to them. it was my first time skyping meiyun in these 2 years. we really suck in keeping in touch but we know deep down inside us, we do care and are always rooting for each other.

edinburgh, scotland 2010

I spent the first week of my winter break in Edinburgh last year. :)

Well, ive got many feedbacks at that time. Some of my friends said:

+ It's so cold ! Are u crazzzy ? , Oh, wow! I salute you cause u know, Scotland is like the last place i'd visit during winter.

+ Wow ! You r so gonna see a white Christmas ! :) Snow, snow, snow.

And, now, I'd say:

+ Yes, it was super duper cold. And it was snowing. Most of the time, pretty heavily.

It was a frigging -11 degrees on the 2nd day.

+ But, it was a very scenic and pretty sight - the snowy slopes, and all gave this Christmas-sy feel. As cold as it gets and as much as I shivers, I still enjoy myself to the max ! cause..

a) i have 2 awesome travel buddies; Ida and Sean. i like to travel with easy-going and flexible people. It makes travelling fun and easy.

b) there is this Christmas Market. i love ! the ferris wheel ride which cost 4 euros but fun although im scared of height ! besides, there are so many interesting things to see and buy there ! And there are just so much to see and is a nice place to chill + get away from busy london.

c) travelling in snow is a new experience for me. I mean, ive experienced snow last 2 years during my winter trip to Madris, Spain last year but it was different cause it snowed lightly and just briefly in Madrid. But there, in Edinburgh, it just continued to snow and snow all day long. everything looks so different. all white and clean.

yes, this blog is like so out of date ! last year, in my last post, i was saying that i will write bout my ireland trip. but, then, i got busy and too preoccupied with work and procrastinated.

anyway, ive decided not to write bout the trip anymore. btdubs, it was a good trip nonetheless; went there with my housemate and got to meet up with a good friend from college. :D

check out what i had in cork, ireland ! (see the pics)

1st row: Full Irish Breakfast - comprises grilled tomato, mushrooms, bacons, pork sausages, white and black puddings and a sunny-side-up.

2nd row: Oat Scones - yes, something that i really like. Scones always taste good with cream and jam.

3rd row: Part of my FIB - Toast !

4th row: That is Irish Stew - Traditional Irish dish consisting of lamb loins, potatoes !, carrots and onions with butter and flour gravy. I find this dish just alright.Wasnt really impressed though !

5th row: Seafood chowder - I love seafood like totally! So, I tried it and t'was really yummy. Super rich with cheese and flavourful. Plus, rather generous portion of seafood. :D

6th row: This was the best ! :D Raw(marinated) beef cooked on a piece of HOT stone. Yes, Ms Ang plays chef ;P

there are many things in life that we all somehow tend to take for granted and only realise their significance when they are absent.

there was this one day sometime last month when there wasnt any water in my house due to a pipe burst at my neighbourhood. that horrible six hours ! i couldnt cook, had no water to drink, shower...

and today, my boiler broke down. :C No HOT water and the heating system fails !

hopefully, the engineer will come and get it repaired tomorrow.

on my previous post, i was talking about welcoming november. and it is so fast cause we are already in the mid of the month ! even some of us are taking time for granted. talk about procrastination. i think i major in that. lol.

i have counted that there are like still 5 more weeks to christmas break. term 1 ends pretty fast this year.

will talk about my ireland trip on my next post.

This is an extremely tiring day and much to my amazement, Im planning to sleep like before 11 pm ?? Im feeling old. :c ugh.
Anyway, today turns out pretty good ! I left home at 7am (due to the strike) to walk to Seven Sisters TS and got into the tube without much hassle and push-here-and-there. Thank goodness, everything goes smoothly and Im not late for class this time round. Kudos. :)

Btw, I cant wait for reading week and its next week ! yay.
In fact, all my assignments are due tmr and are already completed. Plus, lecture ends at 11 am this Fri. So, I sense some celebration. :D

The only thing that I do not favour here in London is the Tube Strike. :c
This means I have ... (refer the title of this post) to walk to Seven Sisters TS since Tottenham Hale TS is closed ! (oh, the horror :c) But thank goodness, its just a 10-15 min walk.

Hope things turn up well tomorrow.

Ive been away for wayyy too long ! i cant believe it's already the end of october and november is drawing near. how time flies. because a month ago, i was back home for 3 months ! come to think bout it, how i MISS the sun, the rain, the food and all the lovely people.

on the other hand, london's great too. initially, i was homesick for the first two days here. but the weeks went by really fast due to the workload and i have frens coming over london. :D

i would say that october is an awesome month to start my 1st term.

*firstly, i hv learnt how to cut and de-scale a fish ! (:P) and learnt how to make sweet n sour fish, yums

fun aside, my assignments are still on-going. (it is always so.) but im ooking for to my Reading Week which is from 8th to 14th Nov. :D

i'll be heading to cork, ireland on a 3D2N trip to travel about and check out the Irish culture.

aside from all these, im still finding a place to snowboard during december. amanda, this is so stressful- to find a place ! :c

to conclude, ive a great oct and im now, welcoming nov with big ,wide arms ! :)

ive known that its pointless complaining how busy and tiring life can be, so, ive decided to accept it. come all challenges and work. one step at a time, i'll get u down !
