For a good cause. Yes, thanks to Ellen and Spotify I am now listening to Chimes of Freedom: Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International. I am a big Bob Dylan fan and some of these covers are good and some are just bad but I give them credit. My bad covers include Lenny Keravitz, Maroon 5, and many others. Some of these artists try to make it sound like Bob Dylan himself. If you do that I would rather choose the original version. While other artists like Ke$ha, Carly Simon, Miley Cyrus and many other try to own the song. Nice to see them put a spin on his song. Some of the good artist are the ones I would not mind hearing more Bob Dylan covers or any other covers from

You have to know what to get when you do an album with various artists. I just need to get more music back on my iPod and I will not have to listen to this album so much. I do like the cloud idea but I am not paying to use it. With last.fm, Pandora, and Sporify among other I am finding new songs to listen to all the time. Right now I just want to organize my iTunes right before it goes crazy one me, plus it is hard to remember the hundreds of songs/artists you once owned.

Talk to you later,

Lately, a certain type of people have been pissing me off. These are the people that use a text program such as the phone or any other app that is text based chat. I have a iOS app where you meet people. This guy says he likes me but then never makes conversation over text. That is the purpose of the app. If you do not like to text and make conversation over text then do not use the app, it is not for you. Learn how to communicate and make conversation.

My iPad has done a lot for me since I got it. Wish I had a Mac because, from what I know, the new version can run the iOS app. This must that Apple was thinking smart. Some technology updates are not a good idea. Every two years, or so, is the time any programs lasts and then you are forced to update. This happens with Adobe and hopefully Windows does not go that way with Windows 8. Heck, I might be out of date since I do not have enough money to go along with all these updates every time a new one happens to be published.

You must know how it is when one spends your money. My parents get mad at me when the film in my camera does not turn out right. Well, my dad does. He makes a big deal about me owning a DSLR (Nikon D70). I do use it as well as my other cameras. This must be why I am looking at investing in film lenses such as Holga and Diana for my DSLR. Digital does not come close to film. No Way.

I do love the feel love having the interchangeable lenses but hate the chunky body of something like the D70. This is just too much to log around for just simple snap shots. Plus who wants a snap shot to be poster size? This is why I have been looking at micro 4/3 cameras. They look so cool. Holga does make a 4/3 lens. Wish I could trade my DSLR in for one, maybe?

After having fun making more artwork for my business cards I decided to take on another big art project. No, it is not more business cards. This time it is going to be a collection of work. I am working on putting together a book. I wanted to do something with my art instead of having it remain on my computer. It is not exciting if I have to explain each piece of art work every time as I pull it up.

The publisher I am going with has a nice price/size ration even though it depends on how many pages. This means I can have a fun time creating my coffee table book. Yes, that is the style I am going with. Full colored pages in a hard covered book. Not to spoil anything, but here is a sample image.

Don't worry, this book is not a bunch of art. It will include some meaningful text to accompany a piece as needed. Can not wait will the book is done. Just to let you know, I am hoping for it to be published some time early December 2012. Be back later with more updates.

Do you still go to the store to buy music? Over the past few years I have been looking for places to buy records from. I am not talking about the thrift store. If you did not know by now, they make new records. They are not as easy to find a CD. Where I live I know most of the good places to try any find something.

Ever since I got my record player I have been an online shopper of records. I found that the selection is great and the prices can be low. FYE, Hot Topic, Urban Outfitters, and Amazon are among the place I look for new releases. I do not have a problem with Amazon. If I find the record one day it will continue to be sold months later when I can purchase it. This is not true with Urban Outfitters. That store is always changing. They do not keep an album long. Plus, they have some music when you walk into the store but not exactly what you see online. Best Buy has hundreds of records online but sometimes I like the thrill of going to the store and getting one in my hands.

I think I am one of those people who likes everything of the days gone buy. That was such a simpler time. Everything was made to last for years rather than months. Don't get me wrong, I use new technology all the time, this is the world I am living it.

Most of the time I have ideas and do not know what to do with them. This time it is once again how I want my house or own place to look. These are thoughts that always run through my head every time I see something I like.

Make the photos on the wall black and white or sepia toned.

Paint the walls dark brow. Maybe even use bead board.

Nice kitchen light over the table. I know I have shared this style before.

A nice, sleek square sofa. Something like this one.

Mid-Century side table. This is the exact brown of the walls. Love how the legs lift it off the floor.

I have also seen a few pieces of inspiration here and there that I have in my mind but am not quite able to share. One of them includes the idea of wall mounting the and framing it out. Not quite worked in a media center but I know I would like one to match the nice side table I found, something with legs.

A lot of places have nice ways of hanging prints by not just framing them out. Think poster sized prints of everyday snapshots (B&W/Sepia). Don't think of too many prints, just a few big ones. The place is to be clean and uncluttered with not a lot of accessories. In a way I always think I wanted to do this or something there of.

Over the past few days the idea has come back up. It keeps popping into my head. The idea of making some merchandise. Talking about shirts, posters/prints, coffee table books, or anything people might want to buy with the bluelaugh brand connected to it. Don't think of it as me putting a cheap little 5x7 piece of art on an economy shirt. That is the kind of thing an inexperienced person would do.

Sunday, after thinking about new business card designs I quickly whipped some out. This happens to be one of the several that made it into final upload for print yesterday. This is one of the new ones that I will be excited to see, not that the others are not great. Can you tell what this design is? It has nothing to do with trees. Unfortunately, three of my seven designs stayed the same and so did the back of the cards. It has been a few months since I purchased my last pack of fifty.

To me it is a challenge to come up with things to do with my full or half logo (seen on this card). Having a set of rules inspires me more. Not having rules makes it harder, I always think. Having to not alter the logo form its original form which means scale proportionally, keeping same colors and noting can be added or subtracted to change the feel. Working with such a small canvas make it even more fun. This time four new designs were added with most of them being a nod to vintage inspiration.

The first snow fall we had looked a little like the image on the right. Shortly melted. Everyone freaked. They keeps saying that we are going to have a snow like last year. This means more time off of school if anything like this happens. I know how many people still ha to go to work in that bad weather. Global warming has done some weird things to us and so had evolution. What do you think?

I hope that soon I can do more great photography like this image. It need not be summer. Over the summer I had a developed style that I made my own when digitally developing. That style no longer exists since I had computer problems. Some time soon a new style will be found, maybe something close to what was used previously. Not too sure what style I want to use but I know it will not be the one you see on the right.

After attaching the Holga lens to my DSLR fun came to be as noted above or down below. That lens is so fun; even more so now that I have a set of lens attachments. What can they not make for a Holga? I am sharing my dog photo because it uses rule 5, 6, and maybe 8 of The Ten Golden Rules of Lomography. Love this vintage inspired look. It is now on my list of developing styles to consider. What do you think?

Just to leave you with a little more inspiration. Hope this year is a do whatever is on your mind type of year.

It is now 2012. A new start and a new computer. I waited a while to get mine fixed. I missed it a little bit. Now that I have it back it is not so bad. I have been doing more computer than TV and more music than TV.

Since I a long period of time off I had time to think about a continuation to a previous letter (Top What?). My new list include: Must Sing and Must Dance.

Must Sing to Songs/Artists (in order)

Kimya Dawson

Dust in the Wind - Kansas

Walking in Memphis - Marc Cohn

Sunny Afternoon - The Kinks

Good Riddance - Green Day

Aerosmith

Yellow - Coldplay

Feels Like The First Time - Foreigner

Amy Winehouse

Closing Time - Semisonic

Must Dance to Songs/Artists (in order)

Here I Go Again - Whitesnake

Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Lepard

Jump - Van Halen

ZZ Top

Hey Ya! - Outkast

Ain't That a Kick in the Head - Dean Martin

(Everything I Do) I Do For You - Bryan Adams

How To Love - Lil Wayne

Break on Through - The Doors

Tom Petty

Maybe later on will be seeing some new lists. Do not get your hopes up though. My whole life is not to analyze and categorize music. Most times this is how random iTunes or any other playlist happens.

You can see I like music because I got three new records for Christmas: Bon Iver - Boniver, For Emma, Forever Ago - Bon Iver, and No Better Than This - John Mellencamp. I must be classified as a collector because I have records and not CDs or mp3s.

A friend of mine purchased a Lady Gaga CD any listened to it over and over again in the order it came in, he does not like random play. I purchased the same Lady Gaga on vinyl and when he had listened to it he though he knew the order of the songs. Turns out that they slipped some different songs in as a bonus. For me, I did not know the difference because I never heard the cd. Even when I get the record it comes with digital downloads or extra goodies most of the time. When they decide to add an extra to the package I never notice the price going up.

Lately I have been looking at design element for a place that I do not have. You can even check it out via Amazon's Wishlist. My list has to be update because I feel some of the places no longer sell some of the items I had wished to purchase.

some of the items I have been looking at recently include:

light fixtures

sofa

wallpaper

decorative frames

It takes quite a while to find what exactly I want but thanks to the internet I know it has been produced. You have to do your research. Do not buy the item the first time you see it, in most cases.

Vintage Baroque picure frames in solid colors. Do they make them big enough to frame out a tv if I have it wall mounted?

Making a list and checking it twice. I find it hard to make the list as of what I want for Christmas. Last year my mom went to my record wishlist viaAmazon and just purchased what she thought I wanted. Not bad. This year I do not know if she will be doing the same. I still have the wishlist but with different records. Should I get something different?

I have been looking at cameras and films. Maybe that is what I want for Christmas. I do not know. It is hard because I would like it to besomething I would use and not have sit around. I look at the photographers and the film they use. Wow, that might be what I want. Wait, I already have that camera. Maybe I need that type of film for that camera. My luck is that it will not have the crazy lomo cross processing effect. Most the time I try these effects on a camera such as my Holga the pictures look like they came from a regular camera.

Maybe I want something artistic like a vinyl toy. I know I have been watching Toy Break. As an artist that might be something I would like. Custom toy? Who knows? A custom item is always good to have.

Well, in the end you could just give me money instead of a gift. How would it be unwrapping money on Christmas Morning? Ugh. The money could help me open a shop online to sell my artwork. That could be nice, like a gift that will keep on giving. I have been wanting something like an online store for my photographs, graphic designs, and just artwork. I know I am good at my art but it all takes time.

Ever since I have realized things have been going on in my life I feel I have been a little harsher on judgements. That is right, I am cracking down on things because it is my life. In my mind I have been yelling at my roommate(s). This must be where my rage is going. What do you think? What do you know any how, you are a bear.

For days I have been on this happy high. I do not know where it is coming from only because part of me feels saddended. Not all of me, just part of me. Wonder what could be going on. With this happy feeling I just feel like creating and making art but I do not know what. My inspiration has not yet arrived.

Glad that HGTV updated the on the go app for my iPad. I love my HGTV but the dorms do not show it. How sad is that. Some times you have to give up some comforts. You can not not get everything you want all of the time. I have other such things to watch on my iPad including Toy Break. This may be my replacemnt for my shows about design.

Wish my computer was up and running.

Do my last two graphic images in this series go together? What do you think of them. Is that something I should continue? I am thinking of creating a new piece of art using just my three colors: off white, blue, and grey. Let me know what you are thinking for a design. I am looking at creating a suitcase or a skyline scene. What comes to your mind? What do bears think of?

I got inspired over a week a go to make a radio. Last night came the sketches and today came the rendering. I do not know if I am done but here it is. I will send it to you and you be the judge of that.

Does it remind you a little bit of my previous work? I hope it does. This is the rendering of it that sits on my desktop.

The last time we talked I was thinking of getting a custom smart cover for my ipad. Take a look at the design I have been working on. Yes, I did scratch the other two ideas.

I have a few little things to think about before I purchase my design. Is everything the way I want it? Will everything show up as expected? Is the color of the cover what I want? I still have to play around with those minimal design things other than that I am all set to go. What do you think? The design will be light grey and the color of the cover. This means it may turn out to look like this.

Care to tell me what you think? What are your thoughts? Looking at THIS might help.

Can you tell that this is very iconic mid-century? I do like the clean lines and styles of that era as I have said. The idea of a motel sign got my attention when I saw a very clean poster design I had done before. Some time when I need a design I might try going back to a motel inspired piece. They have many other styles to choose from, not that I took my design from any one piece.

I was so excited about this artwork that is has been on my mind all the time since I started it. That is how I feel when I am working on something I love. This was so simple to start in the computer but I later did some sketches thinking about if I could do this or that and how it would turn out. Not too many of them turned out the way I hoped. All you can do it try. You might have lost a few minutes but you are not out any money for printing a bad design.

Talk to you later,

Well, you remember me getting an iPad. You don't? When I got my iPad I disliked the Smart Covers that Apple promoted. This time around I think I might get one. I hear it helps with the battery life and I am looking for a stand which it folds into.

I found out that In A Flash Laser takes the smart cover to the next level, they engrave your design with a laser. This is so nice that I am willing to pay for a cover + engraving. Nothing leather; I am a vegetarian. So far these are the designs I am considering:

My Logo

An Octaphant

Those are the two I though of. If you have an idea for me I would consider it. I do love what you have to say. The website has a template to make the most out of the design. Remember: it has to be in pure black on white. Whatever is black gets hit with the laser. Feel free to chose any of the poly colors for me except grey because they said it is the worse and I hate green. I will do pink if I have a design for it. I do believe the company loves Adobe files and so do I along with anything original.

Did you ever stop to think that you are the reason why things ended up so bad? What exactly went wrong with me? Nothing. I just have to be here for myself because I know you never will me. You know that you keep starting the fire in front on my face when I keep walking a way to avoid getting burnt by you.I am not the only one here in this mess of yours. What you are to do but screw things up. Have you ever though that this will never be over?

Talk to you later, Bluelaugh

Top What?

Dear Kerby,

I have been sitting on this challenge for a few days. I challenged myself to figure out exactly what type of music I like. Here are my top ten Artists (in order).

Fleetwood Mac

Iron & Wine

Angus and Julia Stone

Bob Dylan

Kimya Dawson

Adele

Led Zeppelin

Weepies

Vince Guaraldi

Kim Richey

The next part of the challenge was to put my top ten songs in order.

Walking in Memphis - Marc Cohn

Baba O'Riley - The Who

Question - Moody Blues

You Can't Always Get What You Want - Rolling Stones

'Round Midnight - Miles Davis

Make You Feel My Love - Bob Dylan

No Such Thing - John Mayer

Break on Through - Doors

Peace Frog - Doors

No One - Alicia Keys

If you take note we are missing the last part. It was the hardest. I had to like ten entire albums. If you know me, I like songs more than I do albums. It is hard because I could not use greatest hits albums

Rumours - Fleetwood Mac

Back To Black - Amy Winehouse

Life, Death, Love and Freedom - John Mellencamp

Remember That I Love You - Kimya Dawson

Working On A Dream - Bruce Springsteen

Hootie & The Blowfish: Live in Charleston

Where The Wild Things Are - Karen O and The Kids

The Pursuit - Jamie Cullum

LMy One And Only Thrill - Melody Gardot

Flight of The Surf Guitar - The Atlantics

Now I dare you to take the challenge. What will a bear think of? Bet it will be as hard for you as I know it was for me. Good luck.
