After attending a shadow puppet workshop with some children in KS2, Miss Turner was inspired to use and teach the skills she learned in art club this half term with the Year 3s.

Year 3 have really enjoyed making shadow puppets. After constructing different characters using black card , split pins and sticks they imagined interesting stories for them. Finally, the children presented a show and acted out their stories for each other as well as Mrs Cann.

What a treat we had this morning! We celebrated all the amazing musical opportunities that the children get at SRH. County Music teach year 5 violins and year 3 clarinets and it was such a treat to see and hear how much they have learnt over this academic year. Class RJ showed off their skills on the clarinet with “Grumpy Old Man” and Year 5 played “Open String Boogie”

Class MB sang “Time to say hello” and year 2 children in Class JT demonstrated some amazing rhythm work and keeping the beat to “Jerusalema”. Year 4, who sang their song at Snape Maltings, sang “Celebrate St Patrick’s Day” so movingly.

The year 4 recorder club played ‘Kum-ba-ya’ and ‘Happy Birthday’ in beautiful harmony.

Class MS and Class VW have been working on composition this term and each class played their own compositions based on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons: Winter using their own conductor to lead the class playing a range of untuned percussion instruments alongside the piano, violin and the cello.

We enjoyed listening to a range of soloists performing on the recorder, clarinet, drums, cellist, pianist and guitarist. We also heard a few duets.

We finished with a treat from Mr Burch who played a medley of songs which we all enjoyed including rudiments and a paradiddle which we all took part in.

A huge thank you to County Music for providing our wonderful clarinet and violin teachers, MSF, Mr Slatter, Mrs Lavery, Mr Bold, Mrs Johnson and of course Mrs Mawson who coordinates, liaises and organises all these wonderful music opportunities.

Art Club

Year 6 art club have been creating fabulous abstract paintings. The artists first planned their designs and then transferred them on to canvas. After that, they then painted the designs using acrylic paint. Finally, some of the artists made their own beads out of fimo clay and added them to their designs for a 3D effect.

Our fabulous play leaders have done a great job setting up the lunchtime activities for the children on the playgrounds. Mr Castell has also set up various tournaments which the children have enjoyed along with netball which Miss Bazley has been leading. The staff run the chess club, maths wizards and homework club (which you can see in the photos) alongside other lunch clubs such as hand chimes, recorders, philosophy, French, book club.

Lunchtime Sports

In November we started a football lunchtime 'World Cup'. The children play with a chosen partner in a 2 vs 2 match every Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime. This will be an ongoing tournament finishing in the summer term with a 'World Cup' final match.

The children have enjoyed playing and watching the other teams and also cheering each other on for support. The matches have been refereed by the Year 6 Play Leaders.

This term we have also started a lunchtime Netball club for the Year 5 and 6 children on every Tuesday and Thursday to get them ready for their competition after Christmas.

Premier Education’s Wrap-Around care starts from September 2024

Their end of day Wrap-Around care after school runs until 5.30pm and in the morning it starts with their ‘Start Active’ club at 7.40am.

Open to children from Reception to Year 6.

Online bookings are available at anytime, however please book before your child attends the first session.

Wrap-Around Care

Premier Education’s Wrap-Around care starts in the morning with their ‘Start Active’ club.

Open every day from 7.40am, at a cost of £5 per child per session. The aim is to engage bodies and minds through physical activity and play
Each session is designed to stimulate and challenge the children appropriately. The sessions aim to prepare children for the day ahead, to make them alert and ready to learn. The club also helps children to improve basic skills, such as control and coordination.
This club is open to children from Reception to Year 6.

Online bookings are available at anytime, however please book before your child attends the first session. Alternatively please call 01953 499040. (Please note cash and cheque payments are not accepted).

An adult must accompany the child(ren) to the hall/back playground and be signed in with Premier Sport’s personnel. You’ll need to complete a registration form with emergency contact details and any relevant medical information.
Children in receipt of Pupil Premium are entitled to attend this club free of charge – please contact the School Office for more details

Girls Football Against Sir Robert Hitcham Debenham

The year 3 and 4 girls competed in a football competition on Tuesday 9^th July at SRH Framlingham. we had two 6aside teams which played against 3 teams from SRH Debenham. There was some outstanding individual performances and some great goals scored from both schools. Overall the girls made the school very proud with their fantastic attitude.

Cricket Competition

The year 5 and 6’s competed in a Cricket competition on Tuesday 4^th June at Hartismere high school. Our team came 4^th in the tournament. The children showed great team work, attitude, Cricket skills and made the school very proud.

Tennis competition at Framlingham college

The year 3's,4's and 5’s competed in a tennis competition on Monday 20^th May at Framlingham college. We took 17 players who all played singles against other schools. As a school we won 49 out of 75 single matches. Five of our children also received a special medal from the sports leaders for standing out in their group of tennis games. The children showed great attitude, determination and tennis skills and made the school very proud.

Chess Tournament

Earlier this week, we saw the conclusion of this year's chess tournament. 37 players from across all of key stage 2 started the competition with Angus and Georgie contesting the final. After a close contest, including one stalemate, Angus emerged victorious.

Our two semi-finalists, Lucas and Amelia, played out a 3rd place match with Amelia being declared the winner.

Final standings:

1st: Angus (VW)

2nd: Georgie (VW)

3rd: Amelia (SBJA)

4th: Lucas (SBr)

A special mention must also go to Callum (MS) for being the furthest placed Year 4 and Milo (CR) for being the furthest placed Year 3.

Regular chess club will continue in the Summer 2 term and is open to anyone in KS2 regardless of previous experience or knowledge. It is the best place to start practicing ahead of next year's tournament.

Hockey Competition

On Wednesday afternoon Year 5 and 6 children took part in a Hockey tournament at Harleston Magpies Hockey club in a 4 a side competition. The children played 5 games each against other schools in group stages, demonstrating their skills and enjoyment for hockey. The children showed strong teamwork skills, passion, enthusiasm and determination throughout their matches. The children should be incredibly proud of themselves, well done!

Netball Competition Year 5 and 6

The Year 5 and 6 Children took part in a netball competition at Framlingham Prep School. There were 22 teams that took part in the competition and the children played netball games in a group stages format. All the children demonstrated great sportsmanship, teamwork, skills and determination. Overall, the two teams won 5 out of 6 games and were highly placed with one of the teams coming runners up in the final. A special award will be given to a child who demonstrated great netball skills and passion in the competition. The children were very enthusiastic and made the school very proud. Well done!

Hooray for Music Assemblies!

As this half term comes to an end, we celebrated in style with one of our wonderful music assemblies.

A huge thank you to all our musicians who took part - you were such impressive and fabulously confident performers.

Hopefully, many others have been inspired to take part next time.

Some of the boys in Class VW have formed a Rick Club! What an uplifting performance they gave us of Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley! Many members of staff were definitely singing along with this one! This was great boys, thank you!

Mrs Blouet is our wonderful Woodwind and Brass teacher. Having heard her pupils perform last in December, it is really lovely to hear the progress they have made in such a short amount of time. We were treated to flutes, recorders and a saxophone. They played some tricky pieces with musicality and skill.

Thank you to Mrs Blouet and her pupils for your terrific performances today.

Thank you to Megan Peel for her work with Class SB/JA and to the Phoenix Singers for supporting all she does in our school. They performed three songs brilliantly and clearly loved doing so. They sang with great joy, gusto and with super musicality.

Bravo to you Class SB/JA, you were fab!

And finally, to our newly formed hand chime lunch club. They have been working hard with Mrs Venton and learnt two pieces to play to us. They followed their conductors with accuracy and played really well. We are hoping they may be able to play Happy Birthday in some of our Friday assemblies. Great work Team Hand Chimes!

Thank you to all our performers for an excellent music assembly. You sent us out of the hall with joy in our hearts. Perhaps all of Framlingham heard SRH break into song!

Art Club

The theme for art club last term was abstract art. The talented children in Year 3 created beautiful wall hangings. First, they experimented with designs and then transferred their designs on to material. Next, they painted their designs using bright, bold colours.

Once the designs were complete some of the children highlighted the shapes with black outlines. Finally, each child handmade beads to secure their wall hanging on to a rod. I think you will agree that they have produced some fantastic eye-catching designs.

We look forward to seeing the next group of children and their creations this half term. Art club with the first group of year 4’s will start on Thursday in Miss Turner's classroom. Watch this space!

Sing Praise

Sing Praise have had a busy few weeks.

They have sung at an Advent service at St Michael’s with choristers from St Mary le Tower, Ipswich. They entertained the residents at Mills Meadow care home and at sang at Framlingham College Chapel with the Phoenix Singers.

The children have sung beautifully at all three events.

Maths Wizards

Wednesday was the first day of Maths Wizards club for Year 1 and 2 at lunch time.

Lots of children wanted to come along - how fabulous! We did have to restrict the numbers today but hope that all those who wish to attend will get the opportunity over the next few weeks.

Four very kind Year 6 children came and supported - thanks to Fynley, Ralph, Nancy and Georgie for being so helpful.

The children played various maths games and they worked on their number bonds, money skills, general mathematical language and confidence.

Over the last half term, the Year 5 artists in art club have been busy working within the theme of abstract art. First, the children decided on a colour palette and then experimented with different abstract designs. Once designs were completed that they were happy with they were transferred on to a canvas and painted in their chosen colours. All of the children’s finished pieces looked fantastic and Miss Turner and Mrs Sears were very proud of the children’s results. We are looking forward to welcoming Year 4's next week to art club.

On Tuesday Years 3,4,5 and 6 children took part in a netball tournament at Framlingham Prep School. All of the children played brilliantly and demonstrated fantastic team work, determination and sportsmanship. It was lots of fun and all the children who participated in the competition should be very proud of themselves, well done!
