We live in tough times. Those who are not unemployed are under-employed.

Many people agonize between taking a second job and family time.

My goal is to share with you some legitimate work-from-home jobs that will allow you to earn extra income for your family from the comfort of your own home on your schedule.

If you are looking to find your own freelance writing jobs sites like Elance andOdesk have thousands of writing jobs posted. Or if you decide to stick with the corporate world, here are some job sites to help you find a job.

Many of these examples I have personally used to add extra income to my household when needed. I am not going to focus on starting an online business in this post (although, for the diligent there ismoney to be made in blogging, Adsense, creating your own products, selling on Ebay, and affiliate sales.) Instead, I want to introduce to you a few reputable work-from-home companies that will pay you for your work. All of these will send 1099’s for tax purposes.

5 Legit Opportunities To Work From Home

1. Demand Studios

They have many different employment opportunities that range from Writers, Editors, Title Editors, Filmmakers, and more. They are usually hiring for certain positions at certain times so you have to keep your eyes peeled. I have made several thousand dollars in article writing and title editing. I even got my wife into doing title editing and earning extra spending money. As a writer you can make between $7.50-$20.00 per 150-500 word article. I usually write about two articles an hour (that’s $30.00 an hour at $15.00 an article). You do not have to be a prolific writer or have a background in writing to get accepted. Most articles are in a “How to” format. So, if you are the type that enjoys learning something new and then explaining it to someone else then this could be a fun work for you. Most of their content goes on eHow.com or LiveStrong.com...

Let’s say you have a trip you want to take in a month. Just decide how many articles you would have to write a day to reach your goal. They pay by Paypal every Wednesday and Friday. There is no payment threshold that you have to meet either. If you have money in your account, you will get paid. They currently have thousands of titles to choose from in the system and you can reserve up to ten at a time.

2. Swagbucks

I was hesitant to put this one one here, but after trying it out myself, I can attest that it is legit. Basically this is a free site that offers you a bunch of ways to earn cash, gift cards, or other rewards.

You can earn by answering polls, taking surveys, doing simple tasks (like giving feedback about a website), trading in old video games or books, and even playing games on their site.

I have used them for months and have received multiple payments from them, so I can attest that it is legit. While you won’t get rich doing this, to me it seems like a great way for stay at home moms (or teens) to make some money. Find out more check out ourSwagbucks review or their website here.

3. Leapforce

They are a vendor for Google. Once you are accepted in the program you log-in to the Google interface and rate websites. Google wants their searches to be relevant. They use human raters to rate whether the content is worthy or spam. At the time of this writing, they pay $11.50 an hour.

4. Textbroker

This is a great place to earn extra income if you want to write on simple projects. They pay is much less, but the projects are easy to write on. I once wrote several 150 word articles for someone that was creating an Extreme Sports website. The work was fun. I simply wrote a short bio about different professional athletes.

5. Liveops

If you want more human interaction, then you might want to consider LiveOps. LiveOps is an at home call service that you dial into while in the comfort of your own home. You will have to make a weekly schedule, but you will never have to commute anywhere. All calls are inbound from people responding to infomercials and you basically take their ordering information while being logged into the LiveOps system. They pay is around $9.50 but you do earn commission for different products sold.

One thing to keep in mind is that you should write about topics that combine your passion and something for which people will be willing to pay. The more profitable the niche, the more likely you will be able to get some paid writing jobs.

From my personal experience, once you start a blog, the writing opportunities will slowly trickle and then snowball in your direction. The more exposure you get, the more likely it is that others will also be interested in hiring you to do writing

Honestly, you don’t need a formal plan to seek out writing opportunities. Make your work accessible in a public place (blog), and always be on the watch for opportunities to arise. If there are no opportunities, you could contact people you’ve developed a relationship with and ask them if they’re interested in a staff writer.

Once you’ve set up your blog, you should start to guest post. Guest posting is when you publish your article on someone else’s website or blog. How does that make any sense? Basically, you just need to write things people are interested in reading. The best way I can suggest you’ll do that is by writing with your heart. Be flexible and informal.
Read successful blogs. The easiest way to determine the success of a blog is to look for an image that has the number of blog subscribers. Blogs with more subscribers must be doing something right.

How Much Can You Get Paid?

From my experience writing articles online, you can expect to get an average of $25 per article of 500-800 words. Some blogs are currently offering as little as $10 per article, but that is certainly the exception. Once you show your proficiency, it is possible to earn $50, $100, or even $200 per article.

Once you build up some clients, you can also progressively start accepting higher paying jobs and dropping the lower opportunities.

I think it would be feasible to earn $500 a month by spending 5 hours per week writing articles online.

10 Ways To Make Money Writing Online

I believe that Google really helped to elevate the importance of helpful, relevant content.If you have read many articles on the internet in the last few years, then you may have heard this phrase: “Content is king.”

While no one can completely understand all of the intricacies of Google’s algorithm (formula they use for ranking websites), we do know that they like unique content.

Because of this craze companies and entrepreneurs everywhere are craving for content on their sites.

Many of which are willing to pay others to do the writing for them.

No Experience Needed

Here is the great part: you do not have to have a previous track record in writing to take advantage of this trend. In fact, there are opportunities that exist for all levels of writers. There are many benefits to making money writing online:

Work where you want and when you want
Write on subjects that you have a passion for
Create a passive income through performance payments

There are so many more benefits then listed above, but I think you get the point. So, where do you start? Just decide to jump in. I have a list for you of 10 different ways I have earned an income from home writing and I believe that you can do the same. There are essentially two different ways that you can get paid for writing online. The first is called up-front payments. This is where someone or an organization pays you money for writing the article in advance. It is not based on how well the article ranks in the search engines or even how many page views it received. You get paid no matter what. Let me share with you 5 sites that will pay performance payments.

Performance Payments

1. Associated Content – They were recently purchased by Yahoo so it is still yet to be determined how things will go. They claim that they are not going to change anything. Basically, you can write on anything that you want. You can submit your articles for up-front payment, performance payment or both. They do not pay a whole lot in up-front payments (between $2.00-5.00) but it might be worth it to you. They will pay money for every 1,000 page views you receive on any article so this could build over time. I would not use them exclusively, but you can always try them out.

2. InfoBarrel - You can write on any topic that you would like. You need to have an adsense account as you will be sharing advertising revenue with them. They have other ways to monetize your articles but I do not have a whole lot of experience with that. The advantage is that content on InfoBarrel does rank well so you will see traffic.

3. Snipsly - This is a miniature version of InfoBarrel in my opinion. You make money by adsense like the other, but the minimum word requirement is only 150 words. This means that you can produce even more content at a faster pace.

4. Hubpages - is another revenue sharing site. It has a great reputation and you can earn money by clicks on advertisements with Adsense and by being an Amazon affiliate. Build “hubs” around your areas of interest and watch them gain web traffic over time.

5. Blogging – This is by far one of my favorite ways. You have complete control. It is not a get rich quick method, but I believe that you should slowly build this up over time while you earn more immediate income using the other methods. There are more and more people everyday making money blogging writing about their passions. There are so many more ways that you can earn money online writing, but this is not a bad list to start out.

Up-Front Payments

6. Demand Studios – You may have already heard of them by now, but they will pay you on average between $7-15 an article (upwards of $30 in some cases). They do have specific writing guidelines that you will need to follow. What is great about the system is that you can scroll through 1,000 of titles and decide to write only on areas of interest. For example, if you enjoy home improvement projects, then you can write simple “how to” articles explaining to others the step by step process. Demand Studios publishes the articles on several different sites. One example is ehow.com. They pay you by Paypal twice a week for any approved articles you have written.

7. Textbroker – Another great site that allows you to earn money for writing. If you are looking for simpler articles and writing projects, then this might be a better fit for you. You can typically earn between $3.00-$8.00 an article but the articles are shorter and much easier to write in my opinion. Textbroker allows entrepreneurs and companies the opportunity to post writing projects in the system. You go through the system and claim articles in areas of interest. They pay twice a month by Paypal on all of the articles that you have written.

8. ProBlogger Job Boards - This is more like a job board for writers but it is very good. You can find fresh, new job postings almost every day. If you are looking for some extra work, then keep your eye out on this job board. For example, if you like sports, it is not uncommon to find an opening every once in a while for a sports blogger who can write on recent sporting events.

9. Freelance Writing Gigs – This is a great website on many different levels. Not only can you learn how to be a freelance writer, but they have relevant, fresh job postings listed daily as well. There is even a post that list 50+ places that you can get paid for writing.

10. Craigslist - You might find it funny that this is on the list, but I have found some awesome writing jobs this way. One person asked me to write 10 short articles a week on my experience with blogging. He paid me $100 a week over the course of 8 weeks. My time commitment: 2 hours a week.

Bonus: Elance & Odesk – Both are job sites that will allow you to list your services as a writer and find people to hire you.

Why you should not submit your site to 1000 search engines

I admit; I fell for it once – almost twice.
You have seen the ads, "Submit your site to 200+ Search Engines… 1000+ Search Engines… "

The second time, submitting my site to all those great search engines was for free and attached to a website that I was visiting. Since it was absolutely free, what was there to lose? Soon after automatically submitting my site into the very cool automated submitter-bot, the emails began pouring in asking me to check a box accepting that my site was to be listed by some search engine I had never heard of (…and I am the author of a search engine directory), but explaining that I would need to opt-in to receive some newsletter (better described as a ‘spamletter’). Otherwise my site would not be listed. I had never even heard of a single one of these search engines before in my life and I am reasonably sure that nobody else has ever heard of any of them either.

… I get it… so they are spammers pretending to be some kind of search engine. But we know that everyone really uses Google or Yahoo… so we can ignore these phony so-called search engines.

Experimentation is a good thing on the web. Try a few things, see if they work. Repeat the things that work, stop doing the things that do not. Thanks to habits like this, you quickly learn the things that work and the things that are a huge waste of your time and virtually guarantee you a healthy serving of future aggravation. Search Engine submitting services are one of the latter.

How many Search Engines can you even name?

Can you even name 10 search engines without looking at a listing? Submitting your website to all these search engines is one thing that is sure to annoy you and pack your inbox full of spam – tons and tons of spam. Most of these ‘search engines’ are not actually search engines at all but lists of suckers who have signed up to submit their sites to these ostensible ‘search engines’, and in exchange for being listed in "suckersearch.com", they have to check a box that lets the spammers at "suckersearch.com" fill their inbox with their incessant and useless newsletters – packed with overpriced affiliate links and offers to spend money. Thank goodness I always use a temporary ‘spam-catcher’ email address for offers like this. I have gone back to check my ‘spam-catcher’ email after signing up for one of these services and noticed that the inbox is overflowing with this garbage and other fantastically annoying and coincidental spam.

Spammers have gotten increasingly desperate in their efforts to get people to ‘opt-in’ to receiving all of this unwanted correspondence. It has also not gone unnoticed by these spammers that many people would like to somehow rise in the search engine rankings and doing so is regarded as a kind of black magic by many. Thus, not long ago, one clever spammer got smart and decided to create a mysterious search engine program that would help your site rise in the rankings. The catch is that you must agree to accept all his spam and/or agree to receive a regular newsletter from him. Ingenious. But it does not help your search engine ranking one bit.

Who Uses all those Search Engines?

Nobody.
The only search engines that people really use can be seen on the master list at TheSearchEngineList.com, mostly Google and Yahoo!. None of them require you to accept frequent mailings of some annoying newsletter.

So Don’t fall for SuckerSearch!

Don’t fall for suckersearch. Don’t submit your site to 157 varieties of search engine that nobody uses nor has even heard of. Do not pay to be listed in a directory of suckers who thought that by paying some company they had never before heard of, they would get a number one ranking in Google and customers would be lined up on the sidewalk in front of their business.

When you see a site offering to list your site in 100 or more search engines for some small fee or even for free… well, don’t even waste the click – not even if they pay you. Hit the back button and go to a site which can actually help. You know what you need to do. It looks a bit like work.

Optimize your site for keywords.
Get backlinks. Even if you have to buy them.
If you are ambitious, write articles with links to your site and distribute them.

Postloop Review – Earn Money for Chatting!

Postloop is a pay-per-post website – you get paid every time you post on a forum, or comment on a blog.

While Postloop isn’t necessarily a survey website, it is definitely on my list of legitimate websites. I have been using Postloop for over a year now and they never have failed to pay me. The website is also very easy to navigate and they hardly ever have technical problems.

However, the payment does seem a bit small, and the process of registering and actually starting to write posts can be a hassle for some. That’s not to mention the near-perfect English Postloop requires of its users.

Why would PostLoop pay you to post in forums and blogs?

Most of the forums and blogs on PostLoop are new which means they are desperate for users, traffic, exposure, etc. This is why they go to PostLoop because they need YOU. A new forum needs users to get the ball rolling so to speak. A new blog needs people commenting on its blog posts. So it's a marketing strategy. Nothing more, nothing less.

My PostLoop Experience

I signed up for PostLoop and did my 10 posts and they were reviewed pretty fast. As soon as they approved me to start posting I signed up for about 5 forums that I was interested in and started posting. In two days time I made 58 posts and made 102.39 points which was equal to $5.12. For some reason when I tried to withdraw it wouldn't let me (it said something about my point balance would be too low) so I changed my withdraw amount to just $5.00 and that worked. And I did get paid!

So if I continue to post at about the same rate (58 posts in two days, more or less) and keep my

Conclusion

Here’s my 2 cents to wrap things up:

1. Quality > quantity. With this method quality is above all. When things gets to buying stuff, people are very cautious, especially with make money online info products. Make sure to provide honest and quality review about the product. You’ll get rewarded for that.

2. Instead of sending directly to the Clicbank offer I suggest to send them to your affiliate product pre-made squeeze page first and then redirect to the offer. Always collect your leads to promote them later for maximum profits.

3. Clickbank is just one player in the game. There are many other CPS affiliate programs. I really love Warrior+. Keep in mind that other affiliate platforms has less competition.

Today we will be going over some recycling fundamentals for proper account management.

A lot of people think that they can make lots of profit from Neobux without recycling. That kind of thinking leads to improper account management. Even the admin of Neobux says that recycling aggressively is a surefire way to success. The fact is that people stop clicking, and they need to be replaced.

Neobux has a new feature called auto recycle where a referral is recycled for free if they do not click in 14 days. You should take full advantage of that feature, however, 14 days is too long of a period to wait. There are certain times when, if you feel for certain that a referral isn’t going to be profitable you should manually recycle that referral.

The exceptions to this rule are standard members. With the rate of 0.001 per click and the fact that recycling costs $0.07, you are prone to lose money if you recycle. As a standard member do not recycle, instead use auto recycle to your advantage.

When should you recycle?

The basic rule of thumb is recycle any referral whose average is less than 1.0 and has not clicked in 4 days.

Let's examine a few scenarios, and see what our course of action should be.

	This referral is clearly an active clicker and profitable for you. We’d put a lock on this referral. A lock ensures that you cannot recycle a referral by accident.
	This referral is also profitable. There is nothing you need to do at this point. However, if they stop clicking, you should monitor them closely.
	Although active recently, this is clearly not a profitable pattern. Monitor this one, and recycle if not active within 4 days.
	This one was only active one day out of the week. Not profitable. Recycle as soon as it reaches 4 days of inactivity.
	This one is only somewhat profitable. Monitor this one. Recycle if average falls below 1.0, or not active within 4 days.

The key to having a high average is to constantly monitor your referrals, and develop a strategy based on how your referrals click. Your strategy should be based on these fundamental rules and the suggestions we give below.

Do we recycle referrals that used to be active?

We find that it is always painful to part ways with a referral that used to be very active. Dedicated clickers are hard to find, but many of them stop being active or “take a break” from clicking.

If a RR has over 100 clicks total, recycle after 10 days of inactivity. If they are inactive for 14 days, the system will automatically recycle them anyways. Like the old saying goes, “used to bees don’t make honey.” If you are not profiting from them today, then are not useful to you.

Use auto-recycle to your advantage.

If a RR has not clicked in a while, and is nearing the 14 day deadline, then let the system auto-recycle them. You should focus on manually recycling RR’s who have not clicked in 4 days to 10 days.

Recycle 10% at a time.

An important rule for users of all levels to follow is to always have money in your rental balance. If you don’t have money in your rental balance, the money will be deducted from your main balance automatically. If you see a lot of inactive RR’s, you will be tempted to recycle all of them. If there are too many, don’t drain your funds, recycle 10% every day. If there are 100 inactive RR’s, recycle 10 of them every day.

Lock down good clickers.

If you have a good clicker, use the lock feature to keep that referral from being recycled. Even if they are not active in a few days, chances are they will return to clicking. You can identify golden RR’s by monitoring their averages – if their average is 4.0 to 8.0, they are a golden member – never recycle them!

Neobux Tips to Get You Started to Making Money

Today we are going to cover some fundamental tips on succeeding with Neobux.

1) The Free Way is the Slow Way

When I first started Neobux, I looked at it as a way to make money without spending any money. That's great if you are a patient person, but the down side is that if you do not invest anything, it will take a while for you to earn money, especially if you make 0.001 per click. If you put in $5.00 to $10.00 initially and rent some referrals, you will get ahead of the game a lot faster than others.

2) Maintaining Rented Referrals

Rented Referrals (RR) is the name of the game at Neobux. Simply put, the more RR's you have, the more money you will make. You want to make sure you keep whatever ones you have. Turn on auto-renew and leave it on.

To monitor your referral's activities, Neobux has a color system. This system lets you know whether you are profiting (green), breaking even (yellow), or losing money (red). Constantly recycle inactive RRs. Recycling costs 0.07 and it is better to recycle in the long run.

With the RR's on auto-renew, you are paying for the upkeep of these referrals. You want to constantly recycle until you have a high average (2.0 or higher). For standard members, anything less than 2.0 means you are losing money. Keep recycling until you have a team of active users. I recommend recycling anyone that has not clicked in 4 days.

3) Build up for Golden

When you reach 250 RR's, keep autopay on. It will pay for your RR's and save you 10% on rental fees. When you can afford it, renew the RR's for 90 days, and disable the autopay. This will save you 20% to 30% in fees over time. Continue to build up your RR's until you have 300.

Do not upgrade to golden until you've had at least 300 RR's. It will be tough to get RR's when you are golden, as you can only rent at certain times of the day. Our recommendation is: when you have $120 in your account, upgrade. Golden costs $90, and the rest of the $30 goes towards rentals.

4) Direct Referrals

Anybody who has used PTC's will agree that direct referrals are the way to go because they are completely free to keep! Finding direct referrals, however, is a challenge for many. Our ebook will cover strategies - free ways and paid ways - to get an army of direct referrals.

5) Cashing Out

Finally, the part we've been working for. Once you have a clicking army, you will be profiting. Make sure you save enough money for rental fees and such. If you'd like, you can save some money for future upgrades (to ultimate). You may only cashout once per week, so factor that in your math. Have fun earning!

Add Paypal Donate Button to Blogger

If you want to make a few bucks from all the hard work you are putting into your Blogger blog then consider adding aPaypal donate button to your Blogger blog (Blogspot blog).

Adding a donation button will encourage all those happy readers to say a big thank you for helping them out. Not everyone will donate but you will get the odd generous soul who will willingly donate some chump change to shout you a coffee.

In this Blogger tutorial we will be adding a gadget to the Blogger sidebar or alternatively you could place it in the foooter of your Blogger template. We will be using a widget to contain our Paypal Donate Button and will not be changing your Blogger template. If you wish to place the donate button into your Blogger posts see the end of this Blogger tutorial for details.

Skill level is rated easy.

How to Add a Paypal Donate Button to Blogger (Sidebar or Footer Gadget)
Note: Updated on January 20 2012 to take account of new Paypal interface

1. Get yourself a Paypal account if you don't already have one

2. Login to your Paypal account

3. Click on the Merchant Services tab

4. Choose Donations from the list of key features displayed in the right sidebar of the PayPal Website Payments Standard Option (first of 3 payment solutions)
Note Paypal have changed its interface. You now need to select PayPal Website Payments Standard from Merchant Services drop down and then under the buttons in option 1 you will see in pretty tiny writing I must say "There are also buttons for donations and gift certificates." Click on donations.

5. From the Paypal Create a Donation Button screen choose Create Your Button Now link (one of two).

6. Stick with the default button unless you wish to customize it

7. Choose your currency depending on your needs and location

8. Choose Donors enter their own contribution amount radio button unless you want to have a set amount

9. Ensure the Secure Merchant ID radio button is selected. This will prevent spammers getting hold of your email address

10. At Step 2 it is worth saving your button

11. At Step 3 Customize your checkout page by allowing donors to write a short comment by selecting the Yes radio button to special instructions to seller

12. Select the No radio button for Customer's Shipping Address

13. Select the Create Button button

14. Once Paypal creates the donate button code copy it by right clicking your mouse and choosing copy

15. Logout of Paypal

16. Login to Blogger if you are not already logged in

17. Go to Design > Page Elements

18. Click on the Add a Gadget link in the sidebar

19. Choose HTML/Javascript widget from the list provided

20. Paste the button code into the Content box of the dialog box that appears by placing the mouse inside the box and right clicking the mouse and then paste

21. Select a title like "Shout Me a Coffee Today!" or whatever you would like

22. Click on the Save button

23. Drag and drop your new donation gadget into the spot you want it to appear in

24. Click the Save button to ensure your changes are saved

25. Click View Blog to see your new donate button in the sidebar of your Blogger blog

26. Click on your new donate button and you will be taken to the Paypal Checkout screen

Tips and Troubleshooting

To Add a Paypal Donate Button to Blogger Posts
The following instructions will add a Paypal Donate button to all new Blogger posts. Note previous posts will not be changed. You will need to hard code the button into your Blogger template to have the Paypal Donate button added to every Blogger post. (Please ask if you need help with this)
1. Follow the directions (steps 1-16) as above to get your Paypal button code
2. In Blogger go to Settings > Formatting
3. Paste the Paypal Donate Button code into the Post Template box
4. Save changes
5. Click on New Post to see that the code will be automatically inserted at the foot of each new post. (you will need to be in Edit Html mode to see the code)
To Add a Paypal Donate Button to Individual Blogger Posts
1. Follow the directions (steps 1-16) as above to get your Paypal button code
2. In Blogger go to the post you wish to insert the button code into
3. Insert the button code taking care to change all instances of double quotes to single quotes
4. Save post and publish as normal. (If you have trouble with the preview post button in the old editor in Blogger click on compose and then edit html)

Burn Blogger RSS Feeds at Feedburner

In this tutorial I will guide you through the step by step process of burning your Blogger feed at Feedburner, updating your blog settings to reflect the new feed andadding a RSS icon to the sidebar of your blog so your visitors can subscribe to your new RSS feed. Although redirecting your blog feeds through Feedburner is relatively straightforward I will be including some tips to simplify the process. This tutorial is suitable for all levels of technical knowledge but is particularly aimed at those readers new to blogging with Blogger.

There are lots of good reasons for burning your Blogger feeds with afree service like Feedburner. Among the advantages are better feed presentation, detailed tracking statistics and access to the large choice of feed readers available. For a full discussion of the benefits of burning your Blogger blog feed at Feedburner including an explanation of Blogger RSS feeds please refer to my article Blogger RSS Feeds and Feedburner.

How to Burn Your Blogger RSS Post Feed at Feedburner

If you want to add Google Adsense at the same time as burning your feed at Feedburner I suggest that you refer to my article on Adding Google Adsense to Your Blogger Feeds as this includes an explanation on how to do this. Otherwise follow the steps below to burn your post feed at Feedburner

1. Go to Feedburner and click on the Get Started link

2. Sign in to your Google Account if not already signed in. This will take you to your Feedburner Account page.

3. Enter the name of your blog in the Burn a Feed This Instant box and click the Next button

4. A message will be displayed that you have more than one feed and asking you to choose. Select the RSS radio button for the RSS feed and click next

5. Feedburner will now display the proposed Feed Title and Feed URL. Unless you have a reason to change these accept by selecting the next button

6. You will now see the confirmation screen letting you know your feed has been burned. Select the Next Button to set up Feedburner Statistics options

7. Feedburner will now inform you that it has successfully updated the burned feed you have just created.

8. Check the I want more statistics box to give you access to additional tracking statistics. Click on the next button

9. Click on the Feedburner Analyze Tab at the top of the page and you will be taken to the Analyze Feed Stats Dashboard. At this stage you will receive the message: Your feed is so new, we’re still playing with the bubble wrap. It can take about a day before you will be able to see much action on your feed

10. Under the title of your blog's feed in this screen click on edit feed details. This will give you the new name and URL for your feed. Copy the full feed address into Notepad or similar. Care needs to be taken as you will need to copy this in two parts. The new feed URL should be something like this:

11. In a new window login to Blogger.com and navigate to the Settings > Other section of your blog

12 Make sure that the Allow Blog Feed are all set to Full

13. Paste the URL address of your new Feedburner feed in the feed address box provided. This is the URL address that you copied into Notepad previously

14. If you don't already have a copyright notice in the Post Feed Footer it is a good idea to enter one. I tend to use something like the following:

Copyright Your Blog Name 2009 at yourblogname.blogspot.com

15. Click on the Save button

16. Return to Feedburner and click on the Publicize tab

17. Follow the friendly graphic link to chickletize your feed. This will provide you with the code to place an RSS icon on your blog with a link to your new burned Feedburner feed

18. Choose the large orange icon entitled "Subscribe in a Reader" as we will be placing it in the sidebar of your blog.

19. Copy the code at the bottom of the page by right clicking the mouse and then select all from the menu followed by right click the mouse and then select copy

20. Return to your blog and navigate to Layout > Page Elements

21. In the sidebar select Add a Gadget and then HTML/Javascript. Paste the code into the content box by right clicking the mouse and selecting paste

22. Enter a title if you wish. I like to use Subscribe for Free myself as for a lot of people subscriptions often mean there is a cost involved.

23. Save your new widget

24. Use the drag and drop feature in the sidebar to position the widget in your desired location. Click on Save

25. Click on View your Blog to see your new RSS icon in the sidebar. If you now click on the RSS icon you will see your new Feedburner post feed in action

What are RSS Feeds?
Your Blogger feeds are a means of distributing your blog content to the world. Feeds make it possible to maximise exposure of your blog's content beyond a few visitors browsing your blog. Feeds allow your blog content to be packaged into all sorts of widgets and gadgets and mobile devices that can be displayed just about anywhere.

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. RSS is a standardized web format used to create a document containing your blog posts, blog comments or any other content on your blog you choose including images, music and video. As Blogger has built in RSS feeds, everytime you publish a post Blogger automatically adds your post to the default feeds. How much of your Blogger post that is displayed in your feed depends on whether you have chosen your feed in full or short format. To check this setting in Blogger navigate to Settings > Site Feeds of your blog.

Blogger automatically produces your blog's feed in both Atom and RSS. RSS is becoming increasingly popular as the preferred format for feeds. Both Atom and RSS were developed to enable people to receive automatic updates of their favorite blogs and websites. While the format of each is different they do pretty much the same job which is to output updated content from your blog in a format that can be easily read in a feed reader.

Encourage Visitors to Subscribe to Your Feeds
Whenever you see the familiar orange icon on a website that denotes a RSS feed. By adding thisRSS icon to your Blogger blog and setting up a link to your posts feed or other content visitors will be able to view your feed on click. If you have enabled the Subscription Links widget in Layout > Page Elements > Add a Gadget visitors are given the option to subscribe to both your posts and comments feeds in a reader such as Google Reader, My Yahoo or Bloglines. Alternatively you can burn your blog feeds with a free feedburning service like Feedburner.

Feed Readers Make it Easy for Readers to Keep Up-to-date
Your readers don't have to worry about manually saving your blog to their browser favorites anymore as Atom and RSS feeds make it easy to subscribe to a feed reader instead. Rather than visitors manually checking back on your site and trying to manage a bunch of bookmarks they can choose to subscribe to a reader. Subscribing in a reader means they will get up-to-the-minute content automatically without fear of missing any new entries.

Burn Your Blog Feeds with Feedburner
To make it even easier to get subscriptions to your blog it pays to burn your feeds with a feed burning service like Feedburner. The Feedburner service is now owned by Google and can accessed from your Google account. If you do intend to include Google Adsense on your feeds it is a good idea to burn your feeds. By burning your blog's feeds at Feedburner you will be redirecting the Blogger default feeds to the new Feedburner feeds. When placing a link to your blog's feed visitors will have instant access to your feed. If, for example, there are 15 posts in your posts feed they will be able to browse all of these in chronological order complete with images.

You can choose to burn label feeds too if you find you have a lot of articles in one particular group. For instance if you blog is about fishing you might choose to have separate feeds for deep sea fishing and freshwater fishing.

Visitors also have the option to subscribe to any of your burned feeds in a large number of feed reader applications such as Google Reader, My Yahoo, Bloglines, Net Vibes, Newsgator to name a few. The advantage to the visitor of subscribing in a reader is that they do not have to keep visiting your blog to keep up with your latest posts. The option to get updates via a web-based feed reader is becoming increasingly popular with visitors. Even though the visitor may not be returning to your blog your feeds extend your blog's reach. Feedburnercan provide accurate statistics about the number of subscribers to your feed and what type of reader they are using.

You can also place a Feedburner Feed Countbutton on your blog which displays the number of these subscribers. Adding a Feedburner Feed Count button isn't a bad idea if your blog is attracting a decent readership. The purpose of adding such a button isn't so much to brag about it (although it is gratifying to see your readership climbing) but to lend some added credibility to your blog.

Plus your readers can select their reader directly from the feed.
