Water Therapy to control angry toddler

In order to control our naughty child we used a child therapy called water therapy. It is very effective. He has changed a lot.

When the child is very naughty, say for instance pouring drinking water all over the table, even after you told "NO", you have to apply this therapy. A two- three year child is NOT mature enough to understand what is allowed and what is not. If he/she is not able to listen to the parents, he needs some sort of therapy for self- control. Some parents think, the best way to teach a child is by explaining to the child, patiently. The 2-3 year old is not old enough to rationally think and understand. For instance, if the child touches something hot, he will get burned. The next time, you don't need to tell him that it will get burned if he touches it, he knows it by experience. Imagine, u explained to him that he will get burned if he touches the hot plate. He will hardly understand what you meant.

How water therapy works:

1. Imagine the child is naughty, did something which you told not to do. Say for instance, pour drinking water all over the dining table.

2. Take 3 tea-spoon water in a glass immediately and pout it on the face of the child (We usually have it always ready to use).

3. This is very important that you does this immidiatly after he is naughty, so that he understands that if he is pours water on the table mom/dad will pour water on him.

4. He will cry.

5. Let him cry for 3 minutes peacefully. During this time you have to maintain your seriousness.

6. After 3 minutes, hug him and explain to him that it is wrong to pour water on table and if he does so, table will be so dirty, bla..bla.. bla..

7. If he is angry to you and keep crying, let him do it for couple of minutes more.

8. Again go to him to console him. If he is again angry, just ignore him and again go to him after 5 minutes.

9. After a couple of weeks he will start telling you not to pour water on table. "Mummy, NO, NO". He will be a completely new child.

Our elder one is the best child in her kindergarden but she is a real trouble maker at home. Sometimes she really makes you crazy. For instance, she will cry for long time to get juice in bed. When you decide to give her juice in a cup, she will take the cup and pour it on her bed. Or imagine, you bought her an expensive book. She takes it to her room and after some time you can hear someone tearing papers from her room - she has torn her whole book into its pages.

Causes of Urinary Track Infection in Children - possible duplex kidney or ureter

What is a urinary track?

It is the system that takes urine our of your body

Who gets Urinary Track Infection?

Mostly women/girls

What's the usual cause?

Infection causing bacteria gets into your system through the tube that carries urine from your bladder to the outside of your body (Urethra). These gems can travel into your bladder and into your kidneys and can cause infection. .

Urinary track infection is mostly seen in girls but if boys gets urinary track infection, it has to be taken seriously.

Cause of infection in boys?

One of the cause of Urinary Track Infection in boys is duplex system (duplex kidney, duplex ureter) and reflex of urine from bladder back to kidney.

How is it treated?

Interestingly, 70% of the children having reflex of urine back to the kidney get normal flow (urine from kidney to bladder) after couple of weeks. There are several ways to monitor this, you have to ask your physician about this.

When boys gets infection and doctors could detect reflex of urine to kidney from the bladder, they usually give first set of antibiotics to kill the bacteria and another set (a very low dose) to prevent further infection, for the next couple of days/weeks. The doctors will also recommend you to visit a surgeon after couple of weeks to check if reflex has stopped.

Take home message

IF YOUR BOYS HAVE URINARY TRACK INFECTION, TAKE IS SERIOUSLY AND IF POSSIBLE GET A DOCTOR TO CHECK FOR DUPLEX KIDNEY AND URETER, HE MAY BE HAVING A REFLEX OF URINE TO THE KIDNEY.

How to make the sleeping baby awake

Each baby is unique and reacts differently. My elder one wanted food all the time while my second takes couple of times in a day and sleep most of the time.

If you are wondering how to make a baby (less than one month old) awake to feed or do provide medication here are some tricks how to make a sleeping baby awake -

1. Change the clothes: Changing clothes (thus changing body temperature) is what most babies don't like and this is an effective way to make the baby awake

2. Tickle on the bottom of the feet: Some babies don't like to be tickled in the feet and this can make a baby awake

3. Tickle in the back: Tickling in the back also can make the baby awake

4. Talk to the baby: Hearing and smelling sensation are the two most powerful ways a new born baby senses what is around. Talking to the baby can make some babies awake (well, this trick doesn't work with my second child)

Natural ways to induce labor. Advantages of sex at the end of pregnancy

Sex during pregnancy is difficult but it has its advantages

I decided to write an article about a subject which most people don't like to discuss about: Sex, especially oral sex to induce birth.

I guess most of you know that sex is recommended as a natural way to induce birth. If you are over the due date, your midwife might have recommended to have sex with your partner to bring the baby out, in addition to acupressure and pregnancy tee. What she might not have told you is that oral sex is the best way to do that (probably because it is quite embarrassing).

Here is the reason why:The hormones prostaglandins are found in semen and are responsible for ripening the cervix and inducing labor. It is more effective while taken orally than applied from down. This is the reason if you have not yet got enough contractions to bring the baby out, doctors prescribe oral prostaglandin tablet. Prostaglandin is also applied manually from down, but it is more effective if taken orally.Many women complains that semen tastes horrible. Caution: oral sexual act to avoid during pregnancy is blowing air into the vagina which can develop air embolus,that can travel to the lung and have potentially fatal consequences.

Benefit of normal sex: Have sex for the sake of having it doesn't help much. It is the organsm that helps. The orgasm that occurs with sex releases a hormone oxytocin, which promotes uterine contractions. Take time for foreplay and sex. This is very important if you want to use sex as a therapy. Spent atleast an hour.

What else are very effective?Caution: These methods will have serious consequences if you or your partner have multiple sexual relations, which may cause HIV and other diseases.

Have patience during sex and for sex induced pregnancy. It will take atleast 48 hrs for the strong contractions to start after a long sex.

Sex position during late pregnancy:Man on top, not good. just not convenient. Intercourse from behind or side-to-side (spooning) is recommended. Another position that helps is, you laying on the back with legs up in the side of the bed. Your partner could stand on the side. This is a very convenient position as he don't need to touch the stomach.

What else?

1. There are special tee to induce labor. Ask your midwife or search in internet
2. Massage: Ask your partner to massage you with oil from top to bottom. This is to make you relaxed. It is recommended that your partner does this rather than a therapist as there are lots of psychological aspects going on in the body that helps during massage.
3. Acupressure.
4. Climbing stairs: Try this only if you are over the due date, other wise water will get broken and not enough contractions. The ideal time to try this is when you have contractions every 10 minutes.
