Kayla is another one of my senior reps. She goes to ERHS and is in the honor society and Key Club. Kayla has been in the Running Start program and also attends classes at a local college. She aspires to be a teacher and will be taking Teacher Academy in addition to all the other schooling she is doing!! This is one smart cookie! She is also the manager of ER's football team and has donated many hours of community service in her area. I'm tired just listing all of the things she participates in! Have a great senior year Kayla!!

I have gathered up all my Senior Reps for the year now, and just had my first session with one of them. Kelsey, attends a local High School and is very active in the community and within her high school. She coaches youth cheer leading and gymnastics, works part time, and on top of all that she is an Honor student and involved with her high school's leadership program.

Tiny Sparrow Foundation

Last week i was contacted by the Tiny Sparrow Foundation and asked if i would donate my time and a session to a family in need. I did not hesitate one second in saying yes. The families 6 year old daughter Emmie had a life threatening cancer that she had battled for three years. I went to the families home for a few hours and took many photos of Emmie and her family. It was a very emotional experience for me watching the love this family had for each other and how Emmie's disease had affected them all.

Unfortunately, hours after i took Emmie's photos she passed away. I am forever honored that i was able to give this family some of the last photos of their daughter. I have been on an emotional roller coaster ever since i did this. It is by far the most heart breaking and rewarding thing i have ever done in my life. The day after i took Emmie's pictures and found out that she had passed, through all my tears, I of course told the Tiny Sparrow Foundation that i would love to do this again for another family in the future. I recently met up with an old friend from High School who's daughter is a Theater major in college who needed some head shots for her portfolio. Holeigh made me smile at our consultation meeting when she said that she is very scared to stand up and talk in front of people, but loves acting on the stage. She can just focus on the part she is playing and tune everything else out. You go Holeigh!!

Well, it took us two photo shoots to get this families photos in. After about 6 photos into their first session it started to seriously downpour with no end in sight. So we set out to finish their session the other day and thankfully had gorgeous weather. Thanks family for a wonderful shoot! Finding the one lone giant dandelion in the field was the icing on the cake!

I've got some big changes coming up for me and my business! After giving this a lot of thought, and spending many sleepless nights wondering if I’m making the right decision, I have decided to only focus my business towards Senior and Teen Portrait Photography. While I have genuinely had a wonderful time shooting all kinds of sessions, my heart and passion is with Senior Photography. I recently read an article at Divas & Dreams that said to not think of specializing in just one aspect of your photography as limiting yourself, but that it would ultimately be opening yourself up for growth. So true!! I want to be able to focus all my energies on my seniors and teens and really develop my love for that one area of photography. I'm also looking forward to being able to offer my seniors all the different types of products they've been asking for such as custom Graduation and Open House Announcements, different types of Photo Albums, Photo Boxes etc., I will be re-vamping my whole price list with more package options in the upcoming weeks.

I’m looking forward to these changes and the future growth and opportunities it will bring to me. I hope you are all on board with me and help get the word out! I will soon be looking for a few new Senior Reps from nearby schools to represent me and my business. I had a great session over the weekend with Steven, a senior from Redmond. He will be on his way to Washington State University (WSU or "wazzo" to us locals). His family are also Nebraska Cornhuskers fans so of course we had to grab a few shots of them with their Husker shirts on.

My niece got...re-married over the past weekend. They had eloped in Hawaii last summer but just had a big ceremony for all their friends and family to attend. These are just a handful of the hundreds of photos I took.

I had a session with my niece and her husband Ivan. They have been married for almost a year now. They eloped in Hawaii last Summer, but will be having an actual wedding ceremony for all of us to attend this weekend. So more pictures of them will be posted next week :) Ivan is from a family of career Coast Guard Officers so we had a little fun with an American flag.

And now I would like to introduce to you, the couple that is now going to be forever be known to me as Captain America and Wonder Woman!!

I had another fantastic session this past Saturday with a great girl graduating from Emerald Ridge HS. She was just personality plus and her smile came so easy and natural. We had great weather, which has been long overdue fro us, and i know we all had a great time because we were sure laughing a lot!

Healing well

As a lot of you know I took the last month off to have surgery on my right hand (I'm right handed). Everything is healing pretty well, so i will be starting to book sessions again starting the beginning of February. I'm going through a little bit of camera withdrawl right now so i'm really foward to my first shoot this year :) Thank you all for your patience.
