Ever since the babylonian days adults and children have used toys. For example: chess, checkers, and sumeria games. In Ancient Greek children played with horshe-shaped cuttings that had wheels that were used to attack soldiers inside wooden entrances. Toys have came a long way since. <br /><br />Today toys have changed a great due to the industrial revolution that we went through in the early 1900's. Take a look at toy bears began to be called teddy bear, they get their name from President Theodore Roosevelt. Toys get their names from real life heroes, movie stars, human imagination,current events, among other things. <br /><br />In 1972, the first commercial video game console that could be played in homes, the Odyssey was released by Magnavox and designed by Ralph Baer. The game machine was originally designed while Ralph Baer was still at Sanders Associates in 1966, Baer managed to gain his legal rights to the machine after Sanders Associates rejected it. The Odyssey came programmed with twelve games.<br /><br />In 1976, Fairchild released the 1st programmable home game console they called the Fairchild Video Entertainment System, and later renamed Channel F. Channel F was 1 of the first electronic systems to use the newly invented microchip invented by Robert Noyce for the Fairchild Semiconductor Corporation that allowed video games to not be limited by the # of TTL switches. <br /><br />The toy industry has evolved over many centuries and will continue to do so with the advent of computers, technology, marketable opportunities, and great minds. There will be continued new and improved toys with the passage of time. The toy industry is a big business, and will continue to grow even in tough economic times.
