Ladies,

Many of you were at our Fall Kickoff luncheon where you chose a name of another lady to show compassion to sometime between then and the Christmas Tea. Well .... the Christmas Tea is quickly approaching, so ask God to bring something to mind for you to say, send, or do with another sister in Christ.

We would love to hear stories of the blessings that resulted from these acts of compassion, so feel free to share your story with any member of the Women's Ministry team.

Coffee with Julie Sparkman of idol Addiction!

You are cordially invited to hear Julie Sparkman speak on Saturday, September 7, at 10:30am in the Fellowship Hall of Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church.

Julie, an experienced counselor and engaging speaker from Oak Mountain Church (PCA) in Birmingham, teaches the idol Addiction series that our ladies ministry is hosting this Fall. Julie has a unique ability to explain what the Gospel means for us practically each day in our walk with Christ.

Even if you are not able to participate in the series you will not want to miss the opportunity to hear Julie speak. Invite your friends and neighbors to come as well.

Fall 2013 Bible Study Schedule

Now is the time to signup for the Idol Addiction class or one of our regular morning

or evening Bible Study classes. Newcomers are always welcome!

"Idol Addiction - facing your false gods and restoring your sanity with the Gospel you thought you knew"
This nine-week video class taught by Julie Sparkman will have two sessions: Monday mornings from 9:30am-11:30am starting Sept. 16, and Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm-8:30pm starting Sept. 18. Each week participants will view a 45-55 minute video lesson from Sparkman followed by a time of reflection and interaction in a small group setting. Childcare will be available for both sessions at a cost of $10 per family for the entire series. To register, call the church office at 770-631-4618. The cost to register for the series is $20.

Precept Bible Study 1: This class led by Lane Hallwood begins on August 27 for a study of Ezekiel on Tuesday mornings at 9:15am in the Cove. Contact Lane Hallwood at 770-487-9448 for details.

Precept Bible Study 2: This class led by Joanne Brandes is studying The Gospel of Matthew on Tuesday mornings from 9:30am to 11:30am in Room 141. Childcare is provided. For more information, contact Joanne at djbrand@bellsouth.net or 770-312-0198.

Friday Morning Bible Study: This class will begin a study of Isaiah: The Lord Saves led by Tiffany McBryde on September 6 in Room 103 from 9:30am to 11:30am. The annual kickoff will be held in the Fellowship Hall and will begin after the morning church service.

Ladies Fellowship Evenings for August and September

Women's Fellowship Opportunity!

Attention working women or any ladies interested in a monthly, evening fellowship time. This fellowship time will be an opportunity for women to get together to share, laugh, eat, play ... whatever! It's about getting to know each other, and having fun and sweet fellowship.

An informative gathering will be held on Monday, April 15th, from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. We will meet in The Cove. Light dessert and drinks will be served as we have some much-needed fun and relaxation time with like-minded women.

Friday Morning Bible Study This Summer on Esther

May 31 through June and July. They will meet from 9:30am to 11:30am.

They will be studying "A Walk Through the Book of Esther."

Christmas Tea - 2012!

Wonderful food and fellowship. Celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior. Inspiring thoughts from several of our CLPC sisters on Blessings of Serving - this year's theme.

Last Thursday evening the annual Ladies Christmas Tea was held in the Fellowship Hall. If you couldn't make it, we missed you! If you did, you were blessed. It was truly a great time of worship and fellowship.

We had a couple of stealth (well, sort of) photographers taking pictures and we got some great photos to share with you. Just click here to view the photos of the 2012 Christmas Tea.

Ladies Christmas Tea

Mark your calendars for the annual Ladies Christmas Tea to be held on Thursday, December 6th, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the Fellowship Hall. The theme of this year's tea is Blessings of Serving. Please register on the signup sheet in the church gallery by Sunday, December 1st.

Bring your favorite festive dish to share - hors d'oeuvres or dessert. The tea is open to all women ages 18 and up. For childcare reservations, please contact Kelly Bulger at 770-301-5971.

Bible Studies Update

Tuesday Precept Bible Study 1: This class has taken a break for the holidays and will begin a study of John, Part 3, on Tuesday, January 8th. Materials will be ordered in December, so please contact Lane Hallwood at 770-487-9448 with questions or to join the class. Please see the Bible Studies Page for meeting times and location.

Tuesday Precept Bible Study 2: This class has taken a break for the holidays and will begin a study of II Peter on Tuesday, January 8th. Childcare is available. Friday Morning Bible Study: This class will not meet this Friday, November 23rd, due to the Thanksgiving holiday, but will conclude their current study on November 30th. There will be quite a few very nice prizes for some lucky attendees, so make sure you put this date on your calendar and join in the fun and fellowship!

Fall Bible Studies

Ladies, we have just updated our Bible Studies page (see link above) to reflect the Fall studies. We have some great studies planned! Several of them start soon and workbooks must be ordered, so please take a look!

Announcing Our Summer Bible Studies

Two bible studies will be offered this summer. They are:

1) Tuesday Morning Precept Class, "Numbers: Trusting God in the Wilderness"

*UPDATE: The first class will meet on Friday, June 1st. The 2nd class will meet on Tuesday, June 12th and then the class will meet on subsequent Tuesdays - ending July 17th. The study meets from 9:30am-11:30am in Room 141 (lower level).

If you are interested, please contact Joanne Brandes at 770-312-0198 or djbrand@bellsouth.net. The books are $15.95 plus a contribution for tax and shipping. Please let Joanne know by Tuesday, May 8th if you are interested so she can order the books.

Sitters will be available, but please contact Allyson Janos at azjanos@aol.com so she can ensure that there are enough sitters.

2) Friday morning study, "A Thirty Day Walk with God in the Psalms" by Nancy Leigh DeMoss

This 8-week study begins June 1st, skips June 8th (VBS), and continues through July 28th. It meets Friday mornings from 9:30am-11:30am.

Tiffany McBryde will facilitate the study, and Books on the Lane will have the book available for purchase.

Sitters will be available, but please contact Allyson Janos at azjanos@aol.com so she can ensure that there are enough sitters.

Note: During the summer, the Wednesday evening Bible Study will meet once a month for dinner at the Italian Oven. All ladies are invited to attend. Dates and times will be forthcoming.

Greetings! Photos from the Women's Ministry will be posted on Picasa! When we add new photos, we'll tell you about it in a blog post and provide a link to the album.

We will maintain a list (and link) to all of our photo albums on the "Photos" page on the menu line above. These albums are not public, but can be viewed by anyone clicking on a link.

When you click on a link, Picasa will open in a new browser tab or window. Click Slideshow (above the first picture thumbnail) and each photo will display. You can also use the arrows to move from picture to picture. Click the X to end the slideshow, and then close the browser tab or window.

Looking forward to Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner or several corners.

It is never to early to start making something that can be given as a door prize. It can be something you make or something you buy that is home made. It is always such a delight to see what creative ladies we have among us. The Christmas Tea will be in the beginning of December. As soon as we get a confirmed date we will have you put it on your calenders.

Summer Bible Study

Ladies, here is the latest on our Friday morning Bible Study. After finishing Romans in April, we'll take off the month of May. Then a new 8-week study on the book of Psalms will begin in June.

The Study will begin on Friday, June 1st. We will skip June 8th due to Vacation Bible School, but resume on June 15th and continue for a total of 8 weeks.

The study will be A Thirty Day Walk with God in the Psalms by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. Please let Wendy Grega know if you are interested so that she can have Books on the Lane bring in enough books for all the ladies.

Child Care will be available (they will be asking for a donation to help cover expenses.)
