The next Hera Pheri movie sequel is in the works. The movie will be titled Hera Phera 4, though it is the third in the series, for some undisclosed reason that will be revealed in good time. Huh?
The movie will bring back the central cast – Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, and Paresh Rawal – along with Katrina Kaif.

Hera Phera 4, produced by Firoz Nadiadwala, will be directed by Anees Bazmee. Hera Phera, and its sequel Phir Hera Pheri was directed by Priyadarshan and Neeraj Vohra, respectively.
Anees Bazmi is the director of hits like No Entry, Welcome and Singh Is Kinng.
Hera Pheri 4 will go into production in March 2010, reports say.

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Paresh Rawal and Katrina Kaif will be next seen in Priyadarshan’s De Dana Dan, set for a November 27, 2009 release.
De Dana Dan has been produced by Vipul Shah.
Akshay Kumar has had an unexpectedly bad run at the box office, in 2009.
The actor who gave back-to-back hits in 2007-2008, gave back-to-back flops in 2009. All his movies released in 2009 so far – Chandni Chowk to China, 8×10 Tasveer, and Kambhakht Ishq- have flopped.
The fate of his latest movie, Blue, made at a whopping cost of Rs 100 crore plus, is as yet undecided.
A lot rides on De Dana Dana for the superstar.

Mumbai: Remember the classic trio of Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty in ‘Hera Pheri’? The iconic threesome, who made the film an all time favourite with moviegoers, will not be seen in the third installment of the film that is called ‘Hera Pheri 4’. Believe it or not but the lead crowd-pullers Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal have been replaced by Sanjay Dutt and Nana Patekar.

A sure disappointment for the series fans but as sources state it was Akshay and Paresh who opted out of the flick. And though many believe that the move is triggered by the lackluster run of the second part at the Box Office, officially it is stated that the actors backed out, as they don’t have dates.

Confirming the news a source said, “Both actors have lost interest in the project and have made it clear they have no interest in coming together for yet another `Hera Pheri` film. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala delayed the film in the hope that he would be able to convince them to stay on, but now he has no choice but to go ahead with different actors."

"In all probability, you will see Dutt in Akshay`s role and Nana in place of Paresh. Both actors have good comic timing," adds the source.

Well Sanjay Dutt and Nana Patekar sure have some big shoes to fill, here’s hoping they do a good job at it.

The gossip mills are currently churning this out… Hera Pheri 4, the third sequel of Hera Pheri, won’t be featuring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. Instead, their roles will be carried out by Sanjay Dutt and Nana Patekar respectively!

Initially it was heard that Akki and Paresh didn’t have dates to get committed to Hera Pheri 4. Now the rumours are out that these actors seem to have showed lack of interest in the project and were not in favour of coming together for the film. Now producer Firoz Nadiadwala delayed the film in the hope that he would be able to convince them to stay on, but now he has no choice but to go ahead with different actors.

However, the producer completely rubbished this tittle-tattle and stated that the script is almost ready and they would take the film on floors in few months. “How can we make Hera Pheri without Akshay and Paresh?” asked Nadiadwala, “They are very much a part of the film. As far as Sanju and Nana are concerned, they are doing other projects with us. Sanju is part of the Hangover remake while Nana is doing the Welcome sequel. So I don't know where all this talk is coming from.”

The fourth, or should I say the third installment of the Hera Pheri series promises to entertain five times as much as the original film, it was reported yesterday that Amitabh Bachchan has signed on to star in Hera Pheri 4.

Since Hera Pheri and its sequel were big hits, the producers want to make sure that future sequels should satisfy fans and general audiences alike. According to an insider, 'After the success of the sequels, they decided to add some more masala to the film. Director Anees Bazmee has scripted a very strong character which is the fourth character and of has a lot of importance to the story. This third sequel will have more twists and turns and one had to play more with the characters. Mr Bachchan is a wonderful actor and it was very long since one saw him doing a comic role. He will essay the role very beautifully.'

Of course, the unbelievably funny trio of Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suneil Shetty will be back for Hera Pheri 4, and the addition of Amitabh Bachchan seems like a welcome change for the series. The second film, Phir Hera Pheri which released in 2004 was met with lukewarm reviews. Phir Hera Pheri could not possibly match up to its predecessor; the expectations were humongous and die-hard fans were left with a sinking feeling. Hera Pheri 4 will face the mammoth challenge of satisfying audiences with high expectations all over again, but with a decent script and Big B's addition it seems like the franchise won't go the Golmaal way.

But the big question is, why is this flick titled Hera Pheri 4? Last we heard, Akshay Kumar's character Raju was busy trying to reach for the valuable guns, while Bauburao (Rawal) and Shyam (Shetty) frenetically trying to reach him on his phone.When did we miss part 3? According to producer Sajid Nadiawala, the mystery will be solved in the first promo of Hera Pheri 4, which will be aired sometime in November. Hera Pheri 4 hits theatres during 2011 and is being directed by Anees Bazmee, who takes over the reigns from Priyadarshan who made the original and Neeraj Vohra who made its disappointing sequel.

Katrina Kaif is also in talks to star in the film, making it her seventh collaboration with Akshay Kumar, after Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, Namastey London, Welcome, Singh is Kinng, the recent Blue and the upcoming De Dana Dan. It remains to be seen of Bipasha Basu, Rajpal Yadav, Sharat Saxena also jump aboard for the sequel. Hrithik Roshan offers help to paraplegics

MUMBAI - Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan was so moved after meeting people affected with paraplegia while researching for his role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish that he has decided to help them in whatever way he can.

Hrithik is playing a paraplegic in Guzaarish and met patients to be able to get under the skin of his character. While meetings the patients helped him understand his character better, it also left a deep impact on his mind.

Hrithik is taking his role very seriously and has been reading a lot on paraplegia and watching videos to understand and study their mannerisms and behaviour. In fact, he even visited several people affected by the disease to get a first hand account of their experiences, said a source close to the actor.

The intensive study and frequent interactions with people suffering from the disorder have moved Hrithik to a great extent. He came across some young, talented people who were left incapacitated due to paraplegia and he immediately decided to do his bit to help them, added the source.

But what seemed too coincidental was Aishwarya Rai’s absence. Vivek was at Mehboob Studios for a photo shoot for Kurbaan with Kareena and Saif. While leaving, he learnt that even Hrithik was shooting at the same studio. He was a bit apprehensive to meet him at first because he didn’t want to bump into Hrithik’s co-star for Guzaarish, Aishwarya, whom he earlier dated. But on learning that she wasn’t there, he went to meet Hrithik. The two friends who haven’t been able to meet for a long time due to professional commitments chatted about their films, their personal lives for two hours. They were also joined by Bhansali.

According to sources, Vivek and Hrithik have grown up together, as they are both from Juhu. So, Vivek didn’t want to miss the chance of meeting Hrithik.

This is apparently because she didn’t want her co-star, Hrithik Roshan to waste his dates. Even though she was sick, she reported on the sets in time, much to the surprise of the unit members and didn’t throw any tantrums. According to a source, she continued shooting, in spite of having fever for two days, as she wanted to make it convenient for Hrithik, it being the last two days of his first schedule.

Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan is getting bolder with each film. We are not taking about the passionate scenes between him and Barbara Mori in film Kites, but Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish. According to reports Hrithik will have intimate scenes in this film too with the supermodel-turned-actress Monikangana Dutta, who is playing his former lover. Although the scenes are not yet shot, but Hrithik will be seen kissing and making love with the debutante actress. However he doesn’t have any lip lock scenes with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who is the main female lead of the film.

A source said, “Although Aishwarya is paired opposite Hrithik, he has intimate scenes with Monikangana. As she plays Hrithik’s former lover, Bhansali wanted their sizzling chemistry to be quite apparent. Monikangana has a small but very important role and it was imperative that she has intimate lovemaking scenes with Hrithik. Being a debutante actress, the model is nervous about her passionate scenes with the actor.”

“Initially, there was also a lip lock scene between Aishwarya and Hrithik but the director later dropped the idea as it wasn’t really necessary. The lovemaking scene between Hrithik and Monikangana is far more crucial as Bhansali wants to highlight their love for each other in his film,” the source added.

Interestingly, Hrithik’s wife Sussanne came forward to make Monikangana comfortable. She has already talked with the actress so that she should not be nervous doing the scenes. The scenes are not shot yet, but are slated to be done in the next schedule of the film in Goa in January.

Hrithiks hi-tech chair for Guzaarish

Hrithik Roshan, who plays a paraplegic in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish, will be seen on a wheel chair in the film. Buzz is that the actor is shooting with a specially made to order remote-controlled modernized wheel chair. Shernaaz Patel plays his doctor in the film.

Unit sources inform that an old lavish Haveli has been erected for this purpose and Hrithik and Aishwarya Rai have been shooting emotionally intense scenes for the movie and were quite comfortable in each other’s company. Since they have worked together in Dhoom II and Jodhaa Akbar earlier, this will be their third film together and they share a good rapport with each other.

Bhansali who is known for his detailing in his film has been extremely careful about the entire set and the look of the film. The entire unit has been shooting behind closed doors. Apparently, Bhansali has booked the studio till January 2010. Portions of the movie will be shot on the outdoor locales of Goa, later next month.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali recently got into a maddening rage when an assistant director on the sets of Guzaarish repeated the same mistake twice. The director, who is known to have a horrible temper, threw the continuity sheets in a river.

The shooting was on at the outskirts of Goa when an assistant director made a mistake in continuity. Bhansali told him that he didn’t want the same mistake again but the assistant director made the same blunder again. Bhansali’s temper got the better of him and he threw the continuity sheets into the river.

The unit members had no clue as to what they were supposed to do next until one unit member jumped into the water and got the sheets out. The shoot began sometime later but the mood was ominous all along.

A stickler for discipline, punctuality and strict schedules during shooting Sanjay is known to shoot through burning fevers and location setbacks, just so as his actors dates dont go awry.

For the first time in his career as a filmmaker Sanjay is voluntarily slackening his schedule this week for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Later this week she will be given a couple of days off from the current shooting schedule of Guzaarish, and that too when she is required to shoot solo scenes with her co-star Hrithik Roshan.

A huge dent on Sanjays tight schedule. But nonetheless a sacrifice that the diligent director thinks has to be made since Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is also a producer for Paa and needed to be present hands-on for the premiere.

Says a friend of Sanjay and Aishwarya, Aishwarya is not just Sanjays leading lady. After doing three films together they are family. Sanjay saw how stressed Aishwarya was trying to balance her tight schedules for Guzaarish with the time required to pitch in with her real-life Paa (Amitabh Bachchan) for Paa. In fact Mr. Bachchan has been running around alone inviting the film fraternity for the Premier on December 3, since Abhishek has been shooting non-stop in Goa for Ashutosh Gowariker and Jayaji is in Delhi attending parliament.

Earlier this week Sanjay saw how troubled Aishwarya was looking on his sets. Thats when he decided he had to let her go.

Says director and actress common friend, When she expressed her helplessness about not being unavailable for Amitji to make arrangements for the premier Sanjay made up his mind to give her those crucial days on and before the premier off, although it meant considerable schedule adjustment on his part.

Says Sanjay Bhansali, Its no big deal. Adjusting my schedule is the least I can do for someone who has been a dear friend for many years. But this was not done for Aishwarya. It was for Paa and Amitji. Its a very special moment for the family.

Aishwarya has been juggling her Guzaarish schedule with her duties as a hostess for the Paa premiere to the best of her abilities. On Saturday evening she was present as an integral part of the Bachchan parivar with husband Abhishek, sister-in-law Shweta and the Bigs B bother Ajitabh Bachchans kids for a poetry reading on Harivansh Rai Bachchans birth anniversary.

Says a close friend of Aishwarya, She had little time to prepare her poems. But she recited Harivansh Rai Bachchans lines like a true Bachchan.

Hrithik's life changing experience with 'Guzaarish'

Suave actor Hrithik Roshan had a life changing experience while preparing for his role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Guzaarish".

Hrithik plays a paraplegic in the film and in order to get into the character, he has been doing thorough research on the disorder to make sure he looks absolutely convincing.

The first schedule of the film is already in progress. It stars Hrithik and Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles.

Says a source close to the actor, Hrithik is taking his role very seriously and has been reading up on paraplegia and watching videos to understand and study their mannerisms and behaviour. In fact, he even visited several people affected by the disease to get a first hand account of their experiences.

But while the process helped him hone his acting skills, it has also left a deep impact on his mind. So much so, that Hrithik is now actively taking part in helping people affected with paraplegia.

The intensive study and frequent interactions with persons suffering from the disorder has moved Hrithik to a great extent. He came across some young, talented people who were left incapacitated due to paraplegia and immediately decided to help them.

Pledging his solidarity to the cause, Hrithik has decided to help the affected persons monetarily as well as through any other means possible.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Guzaarish' has just finished wrapping up a two month long outdoor shooting schedule and the unit is back in city, all geared up for the next schedule set to begin tomorrow. The film which stars Hrithik Roshan and Aishwariya Rai Bachchan is all set for a grueling schedule which will last till January, at the city's Mehboob Studios. The film's story revolves around Hrithik, who plays a paraplegic patient and Ash, who plays his nurse. The film also stars model Monikangana Dutta, who plays Hrithik's former love interest in the movie. It seems that the two of them will shoot together in January, during the film's Goa schedule.

Revealed: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new muse

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish, which stars Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya in the lead, has a surprise element. The director has signed model Monikangana Dutta to play Hrithik’s former love interest.

A source from the unit reveals, “Aishwarya plays a married nurse who is a caregiver and treats Hrithik as he is a paraplegic patient after his accident. Prior to the accident, Roshan has a love interest in the movie for which Bhansali has signed Monikangana. The director recently signed the young lady and has kept it under wraps. She is under contract and is not allowed to talk to anyone until the movie’s release.”

The source continues, “Sanjay Leela has singed her for a two-movie deal. Guzaarish will be the first and the second might be a solo launch for her. Monika is obviously very excited about bagging the role. She is not allowed to make many public appearances and remains discreet about the film deal.”

If sources are to be believed, Hrithik doesn’t know about Monika being signed for the movie. “Aishwarya is married to debutant Aditya Roy Kapoor. Monika will be shooting for the next schedule. Her role is minuscule, but of great importance. Her character adds to the script,” adds the source.

Guzaarish is similar to John Badham’s Whose Life Is It Anyway? The film with dark undertones, also deals with the controversial issue of euthanasia. Ash’s character sparks off great interest with her playing a married woman who is attracted to Hrithik as the second half progresses.

Bhansali confirmed that he had signed Monikangana Dutta. “Her role is pivotal to the love story. She’s a lovely girl,” he gushed. He wouldn’t commit about the second film but did not rule out a lead role.

Monikangana remained unavailable for comment.

Hrithik-Aishwarya to learn Portuguese for ‘Guzaarish’

Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for his perfectionism and so are Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai, so what exactly do you expect when there is unison of three perfectionists? Well, nothing but an ideal film and that’s exactly what the trio is wanting to make.

According to reports, Bhansali is leaving no stone unturned to make his forthcoming flick ‘Guzaarish’ as authentic as possible. Sources reveal that certain portions of the flick will have the lead actors talking in Portuguese and hence, Hrithik and Ash have already hired Portuguese language experts who will help them with the accent and dialect for their respective roles.

‘Guzaarish’, is said to set in the old Goan period, where people spoke Portuguese. “The sets of the film reflect Portuguese architecture and style. Also Bhansali has got Sabyasachi to work on the lead actress`s clothes”, says a source.

Well, going by the authenticity of Bhansali’s ‘Khamoshi’ that had every still reminding us of picturesque Goa, one can only guess how Portuguese ‘Guzaarish’ will be!

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next, Guzaarish, that stars Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a period drama set in Goa when the Portuguese ruled the state. Reliable insiders say that Bhansali had a tough time finalising a designer for his movie that has Hrithik playing a wheelchair-bound paraplegic in the movie.

Apparently Bhansali insisted on getting someone who understood the fashion history of Goa under the Portuguese, who rule the state for 450 years and zeroed in on Kolkata-based SabyasachiMukherjee who's currently working on many A-list projects like the Abhishek-Aishwarya Raavan and Amitabh-starrer Paa. Wonder why Wendell Rodricks, who hails from Goa, didn't fit the bill.

Sabyasachi confirmed to DNA that he's designing for the film. "Yes, I'm doing the costumes and styling for Guzaarish. This is the first time I'll be working with Hrithik Roshan, but I'm also doing Aishwarya's look for the movie."

Sabya will present them in very simple but exquisite traditional Goan outfits. Adds the informer: "Sabyasachi will have to make outfits larger than Hrithik's body type. Bhansali has asked Hrithik to put on weight for this movie -- and he already has gained some kilos. He'll sport long hair and also a beard like Goan people preferred."

Sanjay Leela Bhansali asks Hrithik to tone down his muscular look and put on weight for his role in Guzaarish

Hrithik Roshan has virtually stopped hitting the gym. For Guzaarish, the taskmaster Sanjay Leela Bhansali has given him strict instructions to put on weight for his role.

The instructions read: You have to put on some weight around your stomach and abs. And you can’t cut your hair and beard.

Hrithik is adhering to Bhansali’s instructions diligently. The gym, which was a very important part of Hrithik’s everyday life, has taken a back seat.

For those who came in late, Hrithik is on a wheelchair for a major portion of the film and he has been practising wheeling himself around to practice for the role. He has been researching paraplegic patients and has been reading up on their physical behaviour as well.

A source said, “Nowadays, Hrithik does not indulge in his regular workouts which involve a lot of weight-lifting. If he goes to the gym, he goes for barely few minutes and does just the basic things. There are days when he may not go the gym too.”

Explaining why Bhansali instructed Hrithik to refrain from working out, our source said, “Bhansali is very kicked about Guzaarish. Like always, he is particular about every minute detail this time too.”

Hrithik’s official spokesperson said, “Hrithik has a very lean look these days. Since he plays a paraplegic patient in Guzaarish, he can’t look so fit and trim in the film.”

A friend of Hrithik said, “Unlike most actors who feel restless when they stop going to the gym, Hrithik is very cool about it. At this point of time, his mind is working only on Guzaarish. He has taken to Bhansali’s film like a duck takes to water. He knows that he can get back his present look in a few days time, if and whenever he wants.”

Hrithik Roshan, who plays a paraplaegic in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish, is shooting with a remote-controlled modernised wheel chair. This, even as the rest of the set erected at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai boasts of an old-world charm and depicts a lavish haveli. The actor, who started working on the film from July 30, is currently shooting scenes that require him to don a patient’s kurta with straps tied up to his back Meanwhile, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who joined him a week later after shooting portions for Raavan in Kerala, was spotted shooting in an Anarkali kurta with churidar. Eyewitnesses reveal that the two, who have been shooting some emotionally-intense scenes, were quite comfortable with each other. Earlier, the duo had been paired together in Dhoom:2 followed by Jodhaa Akbar and share quite a good working rapport.

Apart from his scenes with the pretty actress, Hrithik is also shooting scenes with Shernaz Patel, who is reportedly playing doctor to him. Bhansali, who is known for extravagant set detailing in his film, has booked the studio till January 2010, which is the time the film’s shooting is likely to wrap-up. However, the six-month schedule will see the unit taking a two-month break to shoot at an outdoor location.

Who is Hrithik’s new best friend?
The wheelchair is Hrithik Roshan’s new best friend. The dedicated superstar is living his life in one to get into the skin of his character in SLB’s Guzaarish, in which he plays a paraplegic.

A source tells us, “Hrithik is about to begin filming Guzaarish soon in Goa. His character is a paraplegic and does everything in a wheelchair so Hrithik is learning to live in a wheelchair. He plays with his children, talks, moves around, eats, reads, entertains guests and does everything else in a wheelchair. He wants to try getting down the stairs using a wheelchair too.” We just hope he doesn’t injure himself.

Our source adds, “Hrithik is cent-percent dedicated to his craft. The versatile star is playing a sensitive character and does not want it to turn out unreal or like a caricature. This is not the first time Hrithik is acquiring a special skill for his role. During Koi Mil Gaya, he spent time with children with special abilities, for Krrish, he learnt Martial arts, for Dhoom 2, he learnt how to roller-blade like a pro and bungee jumping, for Jodhaa Akbar, he learnt Urdu and sword fighting and for Kites, he learnt Spanish, Salsa and singing.

The project is being shrouded in secrecy and nobody associated with it is allowed to utter a word about the Aishwarya-Hrithik starrer.

HRITHIK IS IN VEIL
Sanjay Leela Bhansali has taken secrecy to a new level. Since he doesn’t wish to have anyone see Hrithik Roshan’s look in Guzzarish, he has the entire passage covered when Hrithik steps out of his make up trailer and gets on to the set. No camera phones are allowed in the vicinity when Hrithik is walking from the make up van to the set. He also doesn’t like to have any mobile phones on the set. Not only do his actors keep their cell phones off, even their relatives/staff make sure the beep isn’t heard by hot-headed Bhansali who wants no distractions what so ever. Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor too were given a similar lesson in cell phone etiquette by SLB during Saawariya. So it isn’t surprising to members of SLB’s crew to receive similar instructions.

Bhansali is thrilled with Hrithik’s dedication

If there’s someone who takes Aamir Khan’s level of perfection to another level, it’s Hrithik Roshan. Duggu, like Aamir never works on more than one film at a time. Now that his work on Kites is almost over, he has started researching for Sanjay Bhansali’s Guzarish where he plays a quadriplegic character.
Restricted to his bed for most of the film, Hrithik will also have to take up the challenge of emoting and bringing out the struggle of a quadriplegic person.
But despite serious research, Hrithik realized it would still not be an easy task to be in bed all day on the set. So, he has decided to stay in bed for 8 hours twice a week, without sleeping or talking to anyone.
He hopes it will help him grasp the feelings of his character. Needless to say, his director Bhansali is thrilled with his dedication to the film, although his friends might have a reason or two complain. But then all work and no play doesn’t make Duggu a dull boy, it just makes him a better actor.

Hrithik has been concentrating on his home production, Kites, which has left him with little time to prepare for the role of a paraplegic in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish. The actor may be moving around on a wheelchair at home, but the role requires more work than that, for which time is in short supply. Bhansali’s solution is simple: bring Goa to Mumbai. He has decided to recreate Goa in a studio in Mumbai for the first major schedule, giving Hrithik some breathing room.

Confirming the news, Sanjay said, “It’s not just Hrithik whose role requires tremendous preparation. Aishwarya’s part too is far from a slip-in slip-out character. Both are very busy actors. But they’re also quick on the uptake. And once they are back, they’ll be able to give themselves completely to the project.”

In recent weeks, Sanjay has been meeting paraplegics all over the country and they’ve also been invited to Mumbai to meet the director. Commenting on the meeting, the director said emotionally, “It has been a life-changing experience. It is so inspiring to meet these people. Many of them haven’t moved from their wheelchairs and beds all their lives. And yet they’re so free-spirited and their zest for life is amazing.”

“I want Guzaarish to be inspirational and not some depressing and defeatist story of physical disability. And I want my lead actors to be as inspired as I am. I know Hrithik and Aishwarya can bring the spirit of ebullience into the story. I know they’ll get the point as soon as they join me,” said Sanjay.

So if Shah Rukh's character Rizwan Khan in My Name Is Khan suffers from Asperger's Syndrome, Hrithik Roshan is all set to play a paraplegic patient in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish which has Aishwarya Rai as his co-star.

A source reveals, "Hrithik plays Ethan, a radio show host. Aishwarya plays a married nurse who is also Hrithik's caregiver. What is paraplegia?
Paraplegia is an impairment in motor and/or sensory function of the lower extremities. It is usually the result of spinal cord injury or a congenital condition such as spina bifida. The area of the spinal canal which is affected in paraplegia is either the thoracic, lumbar, or sacral regions.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is turning into a full-fledged music composer for his next directorial venture Guzaarish, for which he starts shooting in Goa this July. The film stars Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai.

There have been several instances in the past when illustrious filmmakers notably Raj Kapoor, Raj Khosla and Subhash Ghai have ghost-composed songs for their films. Then of course, there was the legendary Satyajit Ray, who composed the background music for all his films since Teen Kanya in 1961. He chose to do so as he had too many musical ideas of his own, which professional music composers refused or were unable to accept and execute.

For reasons almost identical to Ray’s, Bhansali decided to turn into a full-fledged music composer for Guzaarish. Bhansali decided to be the director as well as music composer, only for the creative enhancement of his own cinema.

Vishal Bharadwaj, is today, perhaps the only other director who composes music for his own films, though they have been greats like Kishore Kumar in the past who did so.

A close friend of Bhansali said, “Sanjay has been toying with the idea for a long time. Even in his earlier films, he allowed professional composers to do the needful while he provided inputs that he thought would heighten his creative vision in musical terms. For Saawariya, which had music by Monty Sharma, Sanjay took credit as the composer for one song Hamari jaan ho tum. Entirely composing his film’s music was just a step away.”
Bhansali has already readied four out of the proposed eight tracks in the film. Those who have heard his compositions swear he will give professional composers of Bollywood a run for their money.

One of the actors from Guzaarish said, “The songs Bhansali has recorded for Guzaarish have an old-world charm but at the same time are fiercely original. They redefine contemporary film music.”

A tad reluctant to talk about his transition from direction to music composition, Sanjay Leela Bhansali said, “I’ve always been a musician at heart. I learnt how to convey human emotions on screen by listening to Lataji’s (Mangeshkar) voice. I feel I’d be more complete as a filmmaker by personally interpreting the musical emotions of my characters.”

Bhansali adjusts dates for Hrithik Roshan

For a director who doesn’t take too kindly to interference, Sanjay Leela Bhansali certainly seems to have mellowed quite down a bit.

The filmmaker was all set to start his next film, as yet untitled, from the second week of April. The film toplines Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. But the news is that Roshan requested him to push the shoot little ahead. And guess what? Bhansali came up with an idea which suited both the parties.

Roshan Jr wants to move on to his next project only once he’s totally convinced and through with his home production, Kites, directed by Anurag Basu. The film also show cases Kangana Ranaut and Barbara Mori. So Bhansali and Roshan J have come to a conclusion that the shooting will start as per schedule — which is mid-next month. But Roshan will join the team only once he’s free from his home production.

Meanwhile, the director will go ahead and can the scenes for which he doesn’t require Roshan J.

Gearing up
A source close to Roshan J also informs that the actor is excited about his film with Bhansali for two reasons — one, it’s the first time he’s making a movie with the Devdas director. Second, it’s the third movie in which he’s co-starring with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

The duo had earlier worked together in Dhoom 2 and Jodhaa Akbar. Incidentally, this untitled project also marks a hat-trick for Bhansali and Rai Bachchan after Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's sets are synonymous with romance. Remember how Aishwarya and Salman fell in love on the sets of his film?

During the making of Saawariya there were reports of Ranbir and Sonam being smitten with each other and now sources reveal that Hema Malini's younger daughter Ahana Deol who is assisting Bhansali for his Hrithik-Ash starrer Guzaarish gets to spend time with her boyfriend VJ Aditya, who has an important role in the film.

Unlike her sister Esha, Ahana wants to be a director. According to reports she and Aditya have been dating for the last four years. A source reveals, "Once she got on board Guzaarish, Ahana introduced Aditya to Bhansali." She felt that Aditya would fit the character of a young boy who comes to learn magic from Hrithik and Bhansali signed him on after a screen test.

Learning curve

Describing Aditya's character in the film the source adds, "He plays Hrithik's protÃ©gÃ©. Aditya's role is important because it is through his character that the story goes forward. The second half sees Hrithik's character confined to a wheel chair, and he then decides to teach all his tricks to his student and turn him into a master magician."
