Once you have decided what business you want to put all your monies into, you must evaluate the option by measuring it against some parameters:

Does it fill a need-gap?
- Does my idea satisfy an existing market need, not fulfilled by any other or many other suppliers?
- Will my idea fulfill an existing need in a much better and cost - effective manner?
- Will my idea 'Create' a new real need for consumers? Along with these, also assess the size of the market. Many a business has failed because the market size was inadequate to keep the business beneficial in the long run.
What is my level of interest in this idea?Ask yourself if your level of interest in the project will sustain a couple of years down the line. Try to forecast how the idea can grow into something bigger. For instance, if you decide to turn your hobby of landscaping into a serious consulting business, ask yourself where you would want to take it by the end of one year. Do you see yourself doing this for a long time and do you feel there is scope of expanding this business. If you are brimming with ideas here, then yes, you are interested enough in this idea to take it up.
How well can I manage this business, given my interest and capabilities?
- Do I have the required knowledge on this service or product?
- Do I have significant experience in this field?
- What are my managerial and marketing skills for this business?
- Do I have any additional professional qualification that will help me run this business more efficiently?
Financial viability of the project
- What is the revenue stream? Where from and how will the money come in?
  I. This is one of the most important aspects you should look at when considering a new venture. Unless you see a clear revenue inflow to the business, discard the idea.
- What will be the total cost of putting this project on its feet and how will I fund my start-up?
  I. Evaluate the options you have. You could either be financing the project from your own savings or through a bank loan. You have to be very clear on how you will manage your personal finances, if a large chunk of your savings gets engaged in the business for a certain period of time. If you will be opting for a bank loan, remember that it has to be re-paid in a certain time period. Would your business start giving enough returns by then?
How much time can I dedicate to this project?
- Each business has an approximate "gestation period". That is the amount of time it takes to break even. Some businesses may need upto one year to mature and start giving returns. Do you have the patience to wait and not get disheartened?
Do I own the space required to run this business?
- Whatever business you start from home, you will need physical space to set up an office, stock your product, need space for documents, other paraphernalia. Do you have that kind of space at home that you can dedicate to your project? If not, then it means you will have to rent space, which is not only an additional cost but also takes your business from the realm of home businesses and into the SME segment.
What equipment do I own which will be needed to run this business efficiently?
- You will need to furnish your office with a computer, a workstation, fax and phone lines, a modem and an Internet connection. Since the Internet is the backbone of most home businesses, it would be helpful if you were already connected to it. Make a laundry list of all the equipment and gadgetry you possess and see what can be used in your business. It would help you later in bringing down the cost of buying new office equipment. When you offer a host of related and complimentary products and services to customers you are offering them more value and opportunities for repeat business. Not only that diversifying also means you spread out your risks and minimize the cost of marketing and acquiring new customers. 1. Sell your own products: you can sell your own product (pet grooming tools), earning the largest profit margin. This should be your main source of income, so make sure you focus on this first.

2. Sell related services: You could also sell a service that complements your products or that your customers might need before or after using your product. Your pet grooming tools sales site, for example, could offer grooming service and consultation with professional pet care providers.

3. Drop ship products: Next, you could find products available to drop ship that complement your main product. Maybe your new pet grooming tool owners will need other items for their pets. Find a drop shipper that offers leashes, collars, food bowls and pet toys and arrange to offer those products for sale on your site.

4. Recommend affiliate products: Why not recommend affiliate products that your customers will be interested in? Promote other people as much as you can - this shows people that you are not just interested in pushing your own agenda and that you have others interests at heart.

Post valuable and helpful information - that hasn’t come from you that you think would benefit those who are following you. Remember that people are looking for answers to their marketing problems and if you are providing valuable content that helps them you will be seen as a valuable person that is worth following.

Post valuable information that you have created - finally it’s time for you to promote your own content. There is nothing wrong with promoting yourself as long as it isn’t all sales and spammy. I like to direct people through to content on my Blog that can help others in a big way. My goal is quality first before quantity.

Answer the questions going on in your followers minds - This is an important tip, like any other form of marketing online you need to consider what the conversation is that is going on inside your prospect or followers mind. They have followed you for a reason and you need to be catering to that reason.

I personally think it’s ok to be posting non-marketing content like “having dinner at my favourite restaurant”. But if that is all you do then your followers will get a little tired of that. Your postings still need to be targeted to the niche of people who are following you and that is best achieved by asking yourself the question “what is going on right now in my followers mind?”

Thank people for following you - this is the right thing to do but it can become a time consuming issue if you don’t automate your activity. I will get to automation in a moment but thanking those that follow you is very important and you need get this happening ASAP.

Engage in conversation - This is a powerful way to get followers. You need to realise that whenever you do this the entire following of the person you are conversing with gets your posts with your Twitter name on it. This works powerfully when you are conversing with top industry leaders who have large lists.

My first encounter with this was with @Padmraj Bhokare who at the time had a following of over 12,000 people. From the brief conversation I had with Mike I saw my follow numbers escalate for almost a week. Believe me it works.

Do you sometimes wish you could slip your child a dose of healthy self-esteem that would last a lifetime?

A great idea, but impossible to do! The development of self-esteem is a lifelong task. From our first breath to the last, we are all developing, refining, and changing our sense of self-worth and identity. Self-esteem involves developing a sense of self-worth by feeling lovable and capable. Children tackle this task differently at the different developmental ages of Infancy, Toddlerhood, Preschoolers, Schoolages. Let's talk about that in our next post -- look for it titled "The Ages and Stages of Childrens Self Esteem".

Positive self-esteem is possible for everyone, as long as we realize it doesn't happen overnight. True self-worth is developed over a lifetime and most of us will experience many highs and lows as we journey through life. A parent's role is to help children feel loved and to teach them the skills they need to feel capable when faced with life's many challenges.

One of the easiest ways to teach them these skills -- and one that can't be repeated often enough -- is reading to our children. Hands down it is probably the best way to instill lasting self esteem in the a child's preschool years. I fondly remember my 7th grade teacher who literally spell bound our class of 13 and 14 year olds every day by reading us inspiring stories of capable young characters, so don't stop just because your child starts to school!

When it comes to self esteem building books naturally -- you'll pardon my chest thumping -- I have to recommend the ones I've written and co-authored with a porofessional "mind trainer", which you'll find at Childrens Self Esteem Building Books , and where you can also read about the brainstorm that inspired their creation.

Since last 2 months SENSEX is not crossing 17500 level. If we assume that SENSEX has formed intermediate top then we are in a situation like the year 2004. At that time SENSEX came out of Bear phase and rose 115% in 10 months and crashed 60% in 6 months. We think the same situation has arisen now in 2009. The Sensex came out of bear phase and risen 117% in 7 months, while the charts suggests a fall upto 12000 levels according to wave analysis if certain levels are broken or upside resistance levels are not crosses.

Submission of Application for the “SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGHER EDUCATION (SHE)” - a
component of the `Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)’ being implemented by the Department of Science Technology (DST), New Delhi.

About INSPIRE: Programme includes three components namely Scheme for Early Attraction of Talents for Science (SEATS), Scholarships for Higher Education (SHE) and Assured Opportunity for Research Careers (AORC). The Scheme SHE is focused on attraction of talent to study of natural/basic sciences at the bachelor and master’s level education. SHE is currently limited to support for educational programmes at B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc. and integrated master’s level course in sciences
leading to MSc in any branch of natural and basic sciences namely mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry, earth sciences and life sciences.

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for `Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE)’ component of INSPIRE. Total of 10,000 scholarships are available annually under SHE starting April 2008. The scholarships are limited only to the candidates studying courses in natural/basic sciences (B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons), integrated M.Sc.) in any one of the recognized institutions in India. Eligibility criterion for the scholarships are a) performance in board examinations within the cutoff threshold (of top 1%) for each state or central board examination at the class X and class XII level and/or b) performance in any of the specified competitive examinations within stipulated cut off ranks. The eligible applicant must be already enrolled into degree level education in natural/basic sciences in any of the recognized institutions in India.

Eligibility for SHE:
a) Based on Performance in Board Examinations: The candidates should have obtained aggregate marks in the top 1% in the board examination at both class X and XII levels. For example, the candidates applying for INSPIRE Scholarship 2008 should have secured marks within the top 1% in class X in the year 2006 and class XII in 2008 in the respective board examinations and joined a degree course leading to B.Sc. or B.Sc. (Hons) of integrated M.Sc. in natural/basic sciences in any
institution in India in the year 2008 and returned to study of second year in the academic year 2009-10. Cut-off marks for various board examinations conducted in the years 2005, 2006 and 2007 for class X and corresponding year of 2007, 2008 and 2009 for class XII are listed in Table 1. IGNOU & WWF-India PGD in Environmental Law

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) & WWF-India PG Diploma in Environmental Law.

The course will be formally launched in July 2010.

The Centre for Environmental Law, has pioneered the first ever dissemination programme on Environmental Law and serves as a resource centre for research in national, regional and international context on matters relating to environmental law . To implement its programmes, CEL has build functional and professional linkages with the Government agencies and non-governmental organizations in India as well as at the regional and international level.

In this context CEL has come together with IGNOU - a renowned name in long distance education and online programmes in diversified subjects including law- to jointly offer a PG Diploma in Environmental Law. CEL’s diploma in environmental law is much sought after by individuals from various walks of life. So far 500 students have completed this online diploma. Collaboration with IGNOU will expand the reach of this course and make it more accessible for working professionals and students pursuing environment studies as a tailor made programme is in making which would be launched as ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Law’ eventually taking shape into a Masters programme down the years.

Brief History of Rockets

Today’s rockets are remarkable collections of ingenuity that have their roots in the human science and technology of the past. They are
natural outgrowths of literally thousands of years of
experimentation and research on rockets and rocket
propulsion.
One of the first devices to successfully
employ the principles essential to rocket flight was a
wooden bird. The writings of Aulus Gellius, a
Roman, tell a story of a Greek named Archytas who
lived in the city of Tarentum, now a part of southern
Italy. Somewhere around the year 400 B.C.,
Archytas mystified and amused the citizens of
Tarentum by flying a pigeon made of wood.
Escaping steam propelled the bird suspended on
wires. The pigeon used the action-reaction
principle, which was not to be stated as a scientific
law until the 17th century.
About three hundred years after the pigeon,
another Greek, Hero of Alexandria, invented a
similar rocket-like device called an aeolipile. It,
too, used steam as a propulsive gas. Hero
mounted a sphere on top of a water kettle.
A fire below the kettle turned the water into
steam, and the gas traveled through pipes
to the sphere. Two L-shaped tubes on
opposite sides of the sphere allowed the gas
to escape, and in doing so gave a thrust to the
sphere that caused it to rotate.
Just when the first true rockets appeared is
unclear. Stories of early rocket-like devices appear
sporadically through the historical records of various
cultures. Perhaps the first true rockets were
accidents. In the first century A.D., the
Chinese reportedly had a simple form of
gunpowder made from saltpeter, sulfur, and
charcoal dust. They used the gunpowder
mostly for fireworks in religious and other
festive celebrations. To create explosions
during religious festivals, they filled bamboo tubes
with the mixture and tossed them into fires.
Perhaps some of those tubes failed to explode and
instead skittered out of the fires, propelled by the
gases and sparks produced from the burning
gunpowder.
The Chinese began experimenting with the
gunpowder-filled tubes. At some point, they
attached bamboo tubes to arrows and launched
them with bows. Soon they discovered that
these gunpowder tubes could launch
themselves just by the power produced
from the escaping gas. The true rocket was
born.
