Rough Start for Manchester United

We were playing in our home ground on our first match of the season. We were up against one of the most under performing team of last season; Newcastle United. The premises were promising for a great season start up with a win, but it was not to be that way...

Instead, we were drawn for a 1-1 scoreline. Suggested that the main reason for the draw was the absence of one Carlos Tevez. Tevez has been a beast throughout the pre-season, and Frazier Campbell, tough also had shown a lot of potential during the pre-season, just can't fill into the Argentinian's role of playing and influence in the attacking department.

And not only that, we actually conceded the first goal against Newcastle. It was Obafemi Martins who drew first blood for the home team. The Nigerian, tough he had a bad season last year, proved that he can be deadly as well with his header on the 22nd minute. If there is any positive note that can be taken is our fast reaction time after the goal. Just two minutes after the goal, the Scotland international, the lanky and skinny Darren Fletcher managed to pull an equalizer.

In the second half, we had a couple of chances to win the match. One of them came from Nemanja Vidic, who unfortunately had his header denied by the goal post. The draw result made Manchester United the only club from the elite big four which failed to secure a win in the first day of the season.

After the match, Fergie admitted that Manchester United needs another forward. The absence of Tevez proved to be the significant factor of Manchester United lacks of fire power. The quest for any of Roque Santa Cruz or Berbatov's signature is the focus before the transfer window closes.

Cristiano "Slave" Ronaldo : "I'm Staying with Manchester United"

Finally, the long awaited confirmation from the most controversial figure in world football has been said by the man in question himself. Cristiano Ronaldo will be a part of the Manchester United's squad for the 2008/2009 season. After performing of what many consider as the finest display of football in the modern era, by scoring over 40 goals in all competition last season, Ronaldo has been the main discussion and focus of the uncertain world of football transfer saga, especially during the Euro 2008 tournament.

On that particular tournament, Ronaldo said in an interview that he wants to play for Real Madrid but it is not up to him. Madrid, not wanting to let another "merchandise seller" goes to waste, embraced Ronaldo's ambition of new challenge. They went for any means possible, including persuading Pepe, Ronaldo's team mates in the national team, and even go as far as influencing Ronaldo's closest person : his family. Not only that, they even said that they're willing to pay him a whoping 250 thousand pounds per week had he moved to Madrid, a sum that many expert said would create a lot of havoc in the professional football world, as noone has ever been paid that high before.

Ever since then, things had not going too well between Ronaldo and the Manchester United fans, who feel really dissapointed by their superstar's somewhat ignorant and arogant behaviour. Especially when Sepp Blatter said that what United to hold Ronaldo based on his contract as a "Modern Slavery", something that Blatter should've thought a thousand times before he said that a man who is paid 150 thousand pounds per week is a "slave", someting that Blatter later denied to have said after a lot of critics said that his remarks were offendable that hurts a lot of people who still live in poverty in other parts of the world, but ever since then United fans start calling Ronaldo with the nick name "Slave".

It was so much heat, that Fergie decided to have an eye to eye meeting with Ronaldo before the Manchester United African tour during the pre-season. Fergie later confirmed that both he and Ronaldo had reach an "Understanding" with each other and the Portuguese will stay with Manchester United. But a few days later, Ronaldo appeared on a TV interview and he denied that he had totally pledged his loyalty to the Red Devil and refused to confirm Fergie's statement. He said "It's normal that clubs want to sign a great player, I am a great player. Every season this kind of thing happens to me. I can be motivated where ever I play, whether in Madrid or Manchester. But the future is not certain, I can't never tell the future...".

Something that did not sit very well with the Red Devil fans... And it was all apparent in the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer testimonial match, where Old Trafford sang all the chants for every Manchester United player, except the chants for "Cristiano Ronaldo". It was clear that he had broke our heart, and it would be very difficult for him, if ever to mend it.

But at last, finally he said it himself "I am staying...". Not only that, it seems that Ronaldo has learned his lesson, not only he said that he will stay, he also apologized to the fans about his actions lately. "I never want to leave Manchester (United). Ferguson is like a second father to me, and yes we had met. He said his arguments, I said mine, but in the end we both agreed that it is best for to stay at Manchester United.".

Ferguson, on the other hand, warned him that he will not get a warm welcome at Old Trafford. But he also asked the fan to be a little "softer" towards him, because afterall, Ronaldo was the main reason we won the Double Title last season. In the end, I agree with what Ronaldo said.... Nothing is certain in football. Both Beckham and RvN had called Fergie "Their second father" before they were kicked out of the club, I do have a strong feeling that 2008/09 will be Ronaldo's last season with us. But in some strange feeling, I somehow predict that next season Ronaldo will be going to Madrid with a super trade package deal for Rafael van der Vaart. Van der Vaart used to be our main target before we signed Ronaldo, and I always like him, if I am able to see him in a Red Devil shirt, I will be very happy to have such an offensive and genius player playing for us....

But in the mean time, we have to stick with Ronaldo. And I hope he really delivers his promise to give his heart and soul for Manchester United, he knows he needs to do that to earn back the respect and love from the fans that (used to) adore him...

No words can describe what I feel when I saw Ole Gunnar waved goodbye to the fans. It gave me goosebumps, it brought tears to my eyes, yet at the same time there was a great proud feeling to have a great loyal player such as is to play in my shirt for such a long time.

You can feel that there was so much respect in the air. From his peers, the fans, Alex Ferguson and even from the opposition, genuine respect and most probably love as well.

Old Trafford, again, has to let go one of its proudest sons, but in Ole Gunnar's case it's just out of the playing pitch, since he has became the youth team squad in the striking department. It is in my best wish he will do well, and I'm sure he will do more than just making them a lethal striker, but also teach the youngsters what's the word "Loyalty, Respect and Profesionalism" is all about.

"Loyalty" means you have to stick with your club and your peers no matter what. Ole Gunnar never got involved in a physical tussle on the pitch with any opposing players, even with our fiercest rivals such as Arsenal and Liverpool. But that doesn't necessarilly means that Ole is one coward pussy that won't jump in into a fight for his team-mates (oh believe me, he would give his right leg for United if he has too...). But, Ole always involved himself in a classy, respectable manne. He went in there as the peacemaker, trying to get into anyone's head and telling them "We don't need this sh*t, let's just play football dammit...".

And if ever there were a case a United player should demand a transfer, it was Ole Gunnar who deserves to have such request. He could've scored more goals in his career, due to the fact that he would've been a starter in any other clubs. But when the opportunity arrised in 1999 when Tottenham's bid was accepted by the club, did Ole Gunnar go ? No, he didn't even have to think twice and at the end of the season he made that legendary winning goal at the ECL Final at Camp Nou.

Even after that, Ole didn't let it go over his head. He was still the humble player on the bench, analyzing the matches and ready to get it done when the manager calls upon him. That's "Respect and Professionalism". Ole respected the role that has been given to him as a "Super Sub", he also respected the manager's decision, and when he should be on to the pitch, even under one minute remaining, he'll go there and give his 100% for his peers, the club and most of all the fans.

Ole's dedication should be an inspiration for any young players these days. Let them know that there is something more in football other than "money, championships, advertiser endorsements, fancy nifty tricks, etc". There are greater values of real life in the beautiful game and that's what Ole has been showing and practicing day by day at Old Trafford, and I'm trully privileged to have seen that.

In the testimonial, Manchester United beat Espanyol 1-0 in front 68,868 Red Devils who came to pay their respect and appreciation to Ole. Fraizer Campbell got the goal for the European champions against the mid-table Spanish side.

Ole finally came on for in the final 22 minutes of his testimonial, and eventough he retired one year ago, he still looked as the best forward on the field. Ole had his first chance after a selfless assist by his old team mate Ryan Giggs, Ole's strong shot flew just wide of the left-hand post and, seconds later, Espanyol goalkeeper Alvarez Cristian required two attempts to keep out another shot from the man of the moment.

Finally, nine minutes from time, a pass from Giggs gave the electrifyingly quick Campbell the edge to get ahead of his markers and slot a clinical finish past Cristian.

Again, thank you 20LEGEND, you will always be in our hearts....

Manchester United 2 - Portsmouth 1

Manchester United continued their positive runs in their pre-season friendlies. Against Portsmouth at the Abuja National Stadium in Lagos, Nigeria, Manchester United manage to beat their FA Community Shield opponent by 2 goals to 1.

Chris Eagles scored first on the 51st minute followed by a Carlos Tevez goal on the 61st minute. Portsmouth managed to score a consolation through Jermain Defor at the 90th minute.

Only half of the 60.000 capacity stadium is filled by audiences, but nevertheless, the Nigerian fans managed to make an exciting atmosphere throughout the match. Even without Wayne Rooney, Manchester United still manage to dominate the game.

On the 5th minute, Manchester United was rewarded by a penalty. Carlos Tevez had to re-take his kick and on the second attempt he hit the bar. On the 24th minute, Frazier Campbell had another golden chance for Manchester United, but again David James is up to the rescue. James again saved Portsmouth from being a goal down again by saving another chances created by Campbell on the 37th minute.

Finally on the 51st minute, Chris Eagles managed to break the dead lock. Ten minutes later Tevez finally scored a goal for him. Portsmouth will still continue their South African tour, while Manchester United will return to Manchester.

On August 2nd 2008, Old Trafford will pay tribute to one of the greatest legend ever to grace it's pitch : Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Ole will officially retire as a legend at Manchester United with a testimonial match held at Old Trafford. It's going to be both a great and a sad day for Manchester United fans. Because we are going to say goodbye for the player that won the treble in 1999 but at the same time we will remember of what a great player we had.

Ole, unlike any other United stars, is the most beloved player by the fans to this date. Cantona amazes us, Roy Keane made us respect him, Ronaldo entertains us, but nobody is as warm and as close to the fans than Ole. He is our "everyday hero", he is the guy that shut his mouth and does his talking on the pitch, he never once made a hassle or trouble. He is a the "people's hero" of Old Trafford.

But Ole's admirer are not coming from the Manchester United side alone. Outside Old Trafford, people respect him for his sportsmanship and behavior. I never once heard or read Ole being accused of diving or foul playing. He is a footballer, a role-model footballer for young pros...

Ole made some memorable performance for Manchester United that the fans will never forget. He once scored 4 goals in 3 minutes on an 8-1 trashing of Nottingham Forest, and who can forget his last minute winning goal that won us the treble in 1999 ?

Carlito is Finally a 100% Red Devil

Carlos "Carlito" Tevez is finally a 100% Red Devil. Tevez who came from West Ham, has a shared ownership between Manchester United and MSI (Media Sports Investment). Manchester United paid a fee of £35 million to gain the full ownership of the Argentinian contract and services, a sum that is a record breaking fee as far as British football concerns.

It's a great news for Manchester United, no one can deny what a great impact Tevez has been last season despite the fact that he was currently "on loan" from MSI.

Tevez has quickly become an integral part of Ferguson's attack, scoring 19 goals in 48 appearances for United in his first season. Realizing that, Fergie was quickly on the move to sign Tevez permanently on a long term contract.

"I've talked to Carlos, and I told him that he is a part of our long term future. He has been very successful in his first season, and he is a great young player who is well liked and respected by his team-mates". Though a deal may be struck this week, full payment may be delayed until January, or even next summer, so as not to limit Sir Alex Ferguson's transfer budget in this window.

United currently have the record for a transfer between two English clubs, the £29.1 million they paid to Leeds United for Rio Ferdinand in 2002. David Gill, United's chief executive, spoke recently of the need to resolve the Tevez issue before next summer and with the player eager to stay with the English and European champions there should be little barrier to the deal being struck.

Carlito's passion for Manchester United was evident even before he was signed for West Ham nor MSI. He was fined once in Corinthians for wearing a Manchester United jersey during a press conference.

Condolences to Wes Brown

Wes Brown will miss the rest of the South African pre season tour due to the death of his pregnant sister.

Claire Fallows, 36, was about three months pregnant and had a history of heart problems. She died in hospital Saturday. She leaves behind husband Tom, 36, and three sons aged 16, 13 and one.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson said the England defender would return to the UK on Wednesday from the pre-season tour.

Brown, whose father Bancroft passed away in February, has decided to fly home after a period of indecision. He is said to be very devastated by the news. It is said that Brown is very close to his sister, since he only found out about her five years ago.

The family friend said: "Wes had only just got to know Claire and now he has lost her, she was a down-to-earth girl who was not bothered that he was a Premiership footballer."

"She was more interested in the fact that she had found her brother."

This is a tragic news for the Manchester United big family. I hope Wesley can coupe quickly from this tragedy, all our thoughts and condolences goes to Wesley and all the loved ones left behind.

Fergie : Levy Only Makes a Fool Out of Himself...

Yesterday, Tottenham Hotspurs chairman, Daniel Levy, said that Fergie is a hypocrite. He said that Fergie do exactly the same thing to Dimitar Berbatov with what Real Madrid did to Cristiano Ronaldo, by making a public statement of Manchester United's interest on the Bulgarian striker.

The public statement from Fergie was quoted from The Sun, but Fergie himself denies that he has made any quote whatsoever to The Sun or any other media.

"It will be very embarassing for Tottenham, because it seems that the report was based on an unreliable quote written in The Sun".

"Levy should've contacted David Gill first before bursting out and completely mada a fool out of himself.", Fergie said.

Kaizer Chiefs VS Manchester United : 1-1

In our pre-season tour to South Africa, we were held to a 1-1 draw agains Kaizer Chiefs. Chiefs had the first shot at goal when a fierce shot from Gerald Sibeko was saved by a diving Tomasz Kuszczak.

The Chiefs then scored first in the friendly match at Newlands Stadium following a foul by Gary Neville on Siphiwe Tshabalala in the penalty box.

Ghanaian defender Jonathan Quartey converted the 38th-minute penalty to give them the lead. Cris Eagles then scored the equalizer for Manchester United in the 60th minute by headed home a cross from Carlos Tevez. Chiefs' goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune was wrongfooted as the ball took a deflection off captain Jimmy Tau.

"It was exactly the kind of match I was hoping for because it helped us build rhythm," Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson said. Before kick-off, however, Rio Ferdinand had a little injury on his ankle.

"We decided to rest him and not take any chances," Ferguson said. "He should be okay for the next match.". In the next pre-season tour match, Manchester United will play Orlando Pirates next Tuesday in Durban.

Owen Hargreaves Will Miss Pre-Season

Owen Hargreaves will miss Manchester United's pre-season tour due to injury. Nani, Edwin van der Sar and Patrice Evra, who all played at Euro 2008, will also miss the pre-season tour to South Africa.

First it was feared that the England international suffers a long term injury, but Fergie denies it. "He will come back to training as soon as possible, it was the same injury as last year, we dealt with it last November and it went out just fine.".

Wayne Rooney and the rest of the United squad, including Carlos Tevez and Ryan Giggs, were included in the pre-season squad. Gary Neville, who spent most of last season injured is also included to regain full fitness level.

United go into their three-game tour in a tired mood, according to midfielder Michael Carrick. "The season has come round pretty quickly, but it is the longest I have had off for a number of years. It was nice to have the break, but I have been ready to come back,we won our first pre-season game at Aberdeen last Saturday, but it was all about the fitness and getting sharper.", Carrick said.

Eye to Eye Meeting Between Fergie and Ronaldo

Apparently, according to RTP, sir Alex Ferguson had a secret eye to eye meeting with Cristiano Ronaldo at Lisbon, Portugal.

Previously, it was believed that Fergie would concentrate himself in England in the quest of signing one Dimitar Berbatov. But, Fergie thought that it was more important to fight to keep the best player in the world to stay at Old Trafford, and to meet him personally in Portugal.

This is the second time that Fergie had a personal meeting with Cristiano Ronaldo to persuade him to stay with the club. The first one was when Ronaldo had an incident with Wayne Rooney in the WC and was on the brink to sign for Real Madrid. I hope Fergie "persuasiveness" will again manage to keep Ronaldo at Old Trafford.

Noone knows what they were talking about in the meeting, as both Fergie and Ronaldo kept their mouth shut. Ronaldo, a day after the meeting flew to Los Angeles.

Cristiano Ronaldo in LA and a Fiasco with Paris Hilton

Ronaldo was then seen in a prestigious LA club, Villa, with his friends, where he had an incident with Paris Hilton. "All the girls in the club are paying their attention towards him, and you can tell he likes all the attention. But it seems that he doesn't want to get involved with the girls, he just drank his vodka sodas with his friends.", said one club's guest.

"Paris then came to him, and she was very "persuasive", she was all over him. But Ronaldo ignored her, he even turned his back on her....". Cristiano Ronaldo is definitely one of the most eligible bachelor in the world after he broke up with Nereida Gallardo. It was said that he broke up with Nereida due to her past with Sergio Ramos of Real Madrid, who once had a "one night stand" with her.

Berbatov's Agent Confirms Manchester United Interests

Dimitar Berbatov's agent, Emil Danchev, confirms Manchester United's interest in signing his client. It is said that Manchester United offer Berba a sum of 20 million pounds to have him play in Old Trafford next season, with a weekly wage that is said to be around 80,000 pounds per week.

"I know for certain Manchester United have shown interest in signing Dimitar Berbatov, but I'm not entitled to make any more comments.", Danchev said to Darik, a Bulgarian local radio.

In 2006 Berba turned down United's offer and instead he joined Tottenham Hotspurs from Bayer Leverkusen. Last season United tried to sign Berba again, but again Berba decided to stay with the Spurs and won the League Cup with them, Spurs first trophy since the 1998/1999 season.

Manchester United Won Friendly Against Aberdeen

At the Pittodrie Stadium, Manchester United won their first pre-season friendly against Aberdeen. The friendly was to commemorate Aberdeen's success 25 years ago, when they won the Cup Winners Cup under the management of one Sir Alex Ferguson.

As a sign of respect, Fergie featured his first team selection such as Gary Neville, Nemanja Vidic, Wes Brown, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Carrick dan Rooney. Right before half time Manchester United were awarded a penalty. Carrick, who took the penalty scored United's first goal, 1-0.

At the 70th minute, Rooney headed for goal as Fletcher delivered a perfect timed cross, 2-0 for Manchester United until the final whistle blows.

Bye-bye Charlie....

Well, thanks for everything you have done for us Charlie. Well, you know, we kinda have this love and hate relationship with Charlie throughout the years. His failures at Real Madrid makes the fans question his real quality in co-managing a team upon his return to OT for a second stint.

Nobody can really tell what Charlie actually bring to the table for Manchester United, it seems like all of our glory in the last couple of seasons were due to some excellent management from sir Alex mostly and the brilliance of our young players.

But one thing is for sure, Charlie is said to play an important role in keeping our most important asset : Cristiano Ronaldo in Old Trafford's ground. Charlie is said to have a bit more influence on the kid than most of us could ever expected.

As I said before, Manchester United fans got this love and hate thing going on with Charlie. He is said to be the man behind our cowardice 4-5-1 tactics a couple of season ago. Some even said to the extent that the only reason Charlie was there in the first place was to become an interpreter for the young Ronaldo.

Nevertheless, noone can deny that Charlie has also been a part of our great success last season. If he did have a great influence over Ronaldo, then what Ronaldo did last season for us can be truly tributed to Charlie.

It is official now that Charlie is taking over the Portugal job. I wish him the best in the future, and hopefully he can prove all the doubters (including me) that he too can be a good manager....

Sepp Blatter Should Just Shut The F*ck Up....

Sepp Blatter is said to be the "Man with 50 ideas a day, and 51 of them is bad". Look, if people say that about the most powerful man in the world's biggest sports organization, then the reasonable thing to do for the man in question is to prove people wrong....

Yet, Blatter never stop learning... to make more mistakes and to make himself to look more stupid.

Anybody remember about his comments about women soccer ? He once said that women soccer player should wear tighter jerseys to make the sports more appealing to men... That alone already showed what kind of a twisted, perverted, sexist mind that he has...

Cantona as Coaching Staffs ?

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about Eric's plan to return as a manager for Manchester United replacing Alex Ferguson sometime in the future.

Well, it looks like we don't have to wait very long for the King's return to Old Trafford.

According to one of his close friend to the Sunday Express, Eric is now considering a move back to Old Trafford to become one of the coaching staffs for Manchester United.

"Eric is very interested in a chance to become one of the coaching staffs at Old Trafford", the man said.

Coincidentally this emerges as Carlos Queiroz is said to leave for the Portugal job. If Queiroz does leave, then this will leave a spot in the assistant manager spot, something that I think any Manchester United fan will agree will be most fit to be filled with Eric Cantona.

"He enjoys his life, playing and directing a couple of movies, playing beach soccer, etc. But he always want to manage his own team with his own style of play, and Alex Ferguson totally supports him for that.", added the source.

Cantona's return will be greatly accepted by the fans. He was the main actor that put Manchester United's dominance in the English Premier League. Ever since his retirement, the Red Devils all over the world has missed and waited for his return to the Theater of Dreams.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar : "I Want to Play for Manchester United"

Ever since the departure of Ruud van Nistelrooy to Real Madrid a couple of seasons ago, Manchester United haven't been able to find a one-touch lethal striker like the legendary dutch-man.

Over the last couple of seasons, Manchester United, along with several other English clubs, have been linked with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. A young Dutch goalscorer whose playing style resembles RvN a lot.

But the rumors never came true for Manchester United until now. It was all because the young Dutch own statement that he wishes to gain more experience in the Dutch League before making it to the top English Premier League.

But now, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar says that he is ready. So far he and Ajax don't meet eye to eye regarding his contracts. And he says, that if he is to leave Ajax, then Manchester United will be the club he will be willing to play for.

"Manchester United is a club that makes me dream, especially Ruud van Nistelrooy has played there and did many great things with them.", Huntelaar said.

Huntelaar might just do that to gain a better contract from Ajax. With his goal scoring record, Ajax will do anything in their power to keep their best striker in the Amsterdam Arena, at least for one more season.

Other than Manchester United, Huntelaar is also linked with Real Madrid and Arsenal. The rumor that Arsenal are actually interested in Huntelaar is somewhat surprising judging by the fact Huntelaar is not an "Arsene Wenger Type" of player. He is lacking at technical skills but he has eyes for goals for sure.

Wayne Rooney refuses to talk about transfer rumours surrounding his Manchester United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo. But instead, he prefers to question himself regarding the Portuguese phenomenal feat to be used as a standard to his own performance for next season.

Rooney, who just had his honeymoon in Las Vegas, said that to repeat let alone do what Ronaldo did last season would be like climbing Mount Everest. It is going to be very, very difficult.

It has been a nightmarish pre-season for us. After the Real Madrid fiasco, now Carlos Queiroz is said to leave Manchester United for the Portugal job.

I have never been a fan of Carlos, I think he is a mediocre manager, but nevertheless him being the assistant manager have done us good in the last couple of season, regardless the fact that his tactical contribution sometimes are questionable when we play using a defensive 4-5-1 formation in important matches which sometimes fuck us up.

That, and also the fact that he might be the missing piece we need in order to keep Cristiano at Old Trafford. Queiroz is Fergie's trump card to keep him at our club, and with Queiroz' leaving, I really find it difficult to keep Cristiano.

The Portuguese FA representatives are now at Manchester to meet up with Queiroz and they claim that a deal has been made. No official statement from Manchester United yet, but my gut feeling doesn't feel very good....

Cristiano Ronaldo Finally Meets the Man United Staffs

But let's not get over excited yet.

He is not there to pledge his loyalty to Manchester United for next season,but to have his injured right ankle assessed by the Manchester United medical staffs.

However, Cristiano's willingness to meet with our staffs will at least give a new hope for us,the fans to be able to keep him. It was said that Ronaldo was so eager to go to Real Madrid,that he doesn't even want to meet with any staffs related to Manchester United.

Carlos Queiroz, Manchester United's Assistant Manager, has once again state the desire for Cristiano Ronaldo to change his opinion on moving to Real Madrid. "Manchester United is a very special football club." said Queiroz to the Portuguese radio station, Renascenca.

"Because of that fact, we know how to give Cristiano complete affections and attention. However, by keeping our mouth shut at this moment, is the most sensible action in the heat of the moment, so that we do not aid those (Real Madrid) whose interests are difficult to identify.

This is the first time Queiroz speaks about the transfer saga since Ronaldo was rumored of wanting to leave Old Trafford. Ronaldo also said he would be back to Manchester for a small operation on his ankle but instead was leaving on a holiday.

Queiroz's own future is also in doubt, with his name on a list to replace Luiz Felipe Scolari Portugal, as the national coach. "I'm not going to put myself in the market," he said. "The decision should not be a result of those who make themselves candidates, but a decision that is conscious, rational and based on what the Federation [Portuguese FA] judges [believe] is necessary.".

Ronaldo's statistics for five seasons at Old Trafford is the main reason why Manchester United are so determined to keep the double footballer of the year and why Real Madrid (the Satans in whites) are so interested in getting his signature, regardless how unethical their methods are.

Euro 2008 Quarter Finals Review

Euro 2008 tournament has finished its Quarter Finals match ups, some of the results has been predicted, but most certainly, it was a brilliant Quarter Final with lots of exciting matches, surprising results, and really delivers the official slogan "Expect Emotions".

Germany has proven to the world that to never write them off. They have always been a tournament specialist. Like in 1996 when they won the European Cup for the last time, Germany are slowly but surely play better and better football. Portugal, despite having the World's best player in their team, just doesn't have the mental toughness that Germany have for the most important matches.

Turkey VS Croatia was one of the craziest and definitely one of the best football match ever. Turkey is one tough dog-fighting team. They never gave up. If you think their comeback from 2-0 down against the Czech was crazy, check out of how they equalized at the very last second of the extra time against Croatia. It was a vital goal, as it brought back the momentum to them prior to the penalty shoot out. The disappointed Croatians were so crushed mentally that they only scored once in the shoot out via Darjo Srna. Whatever the result was, both teams have shown the world what fearless and gutsy football was all about.

And Russia, who would've thought that they would beat Holland at their own game ? Holland was supposed to be the dominant inventor of the "Total Football" concept, but instead they were shown by the Russians on how to play Total Football the right way. It made me wonder for one second, probably Holland weren't that great after all in the group stage, but instead it was Italy and France who were crap.

Italy shown their best defensive performance against Spain. They managed to hold the world's best striking duo in Torress and Villa for a full 120 minutes. But defense alone won't win you championships in football, Toni's lack of accuracy and Italy's midfielder lacks of inspiration due to the absence of Pirlo costed them big time. In the end, Casillas stood tall against his hero Gianluigi Buffon.

So, what will happen in the semi finals ?

Anything can happen. After watching how Turkey played, who would bet that Germany will easily beat them ? I can't even decide who will win this one, since Germany was well known for their never say die attitude, while Turkey, in this tournament, really embodies the German's spirit within their team.

And then Russia VS Spain. Total Football meets with the fluid attacking style of the Spanish team. This match has the potential of having a goals galore written all over it, and I sure do hope that both teams won't disappoint ?

The unique thing about the Semi Final match ups is that all four teams who match up with each other have a very similar playing style and approach of the game. Expect Emotions boys, I mean really....
