Mr controversial himself, Nollywood actor Jim Iyke
seems to be bouncing back from all his recent troubles. Gist confirms
that the actor has won the case brought against him by one Habiba Abubakar over a 15 million Naira deal, in which Jim Iyke was alleged to have defrauded her.
We hear the case was thrown out of court for want of evidence, as the
case had been ongoing for a while now, but has finally been laid to
rest, with Jim Iyke emerging the winner.
During the trial period, the popular Nollywood actor had been
involved in a media battle with series of allegations springing up in
several places, some alleging him being involved in car scam, public
fighting and so on. All that seems to be in the past as Jim Iyke has
since moved back into the good books of the media, apart from winning
the recent suit, Jim Iyke was recently listed by the United Nations to help pick six children to receive quality education in the US. He also snapped up a multi million naira deal in Gambia a few weeks back and we hear he is presently studying somewhere in Brazil.
The good times are here again, welcome back Jim!
Rihanna was evacuated from her London hotel in the early hours of Wednesday morning over fears a fire had broken out. The star is staying at the posh Corinthia Hotel while in the U.K.
capital but was turfed out of bed after an elevator motor began to
smoke, setting off the building’s emergency alarm. The singer and 300 fellow guests were moved onto the street while
firefighters carried out a check of the building to ensure it was safe
for them to return.
Rihanna jumped in a cab rather than wait, uploading a snap of herself on
Twitter.com looking tired in the back of the London taxi, along with
the caption, “Roamin da streets since 6am. Fyah in da telly (sic)!”
Michael Jackson died June 25, 2009, or three years ago this week. In a touching tribute to MJ, Beyonce remembers the artist who changed her life forever. The "Crazy in Love" singer and new mom wrote a touching message on her website about Jackson on Monday, Michael Jackson's death anniversary.
Beyonce, 30, said her first producer had her listen MJ's "Who's
Loving You" on repeat. "What he wanted me to learn was his soul," the
star recalls. "You could hear his soul. It's something that's God given."
For whatever reason he could evoke more emotion than an adult," she
went on. "It was these little things he did that were pure swag."
And the mother of Blue Ivy Carter and wife of rapper Jay-Z credits
the King of Pop for teaching her that "sometimes you have to forget
technique." "Michael Jackson changed me forever, and helped me to become the
artist I am," Beyonce writes, adding simply "Thank you Michael." Jackson died on June 25, 2009 from an overdose of the anesthetic propofol, given to him by Dr. Conrad Murray. He was only 50 years old.

On the 23rd of June 2012, all the big guns in government and top politicians gathered at the International Conference Centre Abuja for the wedding of the Pamela Mark daughter of the Senate President, Senator David Mark.
As expected it was a lavish wedding, with all those who mattered in

the popular comedian Okechukwu Anthony Oyegbule aka Okey Bakassi
has been away from the entertainment scene for quite a while now, well
that is because he dabbled into politics or answered the call to serve
his people.Due to his commitment to the new challenge, he dropped everything
entertainment and became a full fledged politician, however Ikedi Ohakim
failed in his re-election bid and so came an end to S.A Okey
Bakassi sojourn in politics.
In a recent interview, he said:

“Right
now I’m fully in showbiz that’s what I do. I have finished my assignment
in Imo State and I am back to my primary constituency, which is
showbiz. If a public service calls on me again in form of politics, I
will answer. Though I have had series of allegations of me shunning
movie scripts, that will not be totally correct, last year I shot a
movie. This year I have not shot one.
The reason is that
you get a point in your career you don’t have to be in hundred movies to
make a point. At this stage in my career, I want to do movies that my
children will be proud to watch in the next ten years. I don’t want to
jump to scripts that just come my way.”

Davido may not have bargained for what he got in Abuja the last time he went for a show sponsored by Nokia. The fast rising star who would be collaborating with Senegalese
Konvict Music boss and singer, Akon, on the remix of his rave making
single, Dami Duro, we reliably gathered was recently harassed and hit by
a uniformed man at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The musician was invited for the recently
concluded Nokia Rap Battle show alongside other prominent acts by one
Nosa, a fast rising music producer cum manager.Davido who was said to be drunk to stupor insisted on leaving in a
friend’s car instead of going in the one that brought him, and other top
artistes and crew from the hotel.
He insisted though and Nosa being his host had to drive behind them,
bubble later burst when the car conveying Davido was stopped by some
military men for the routine check especially at that time of the night.
It was revealed that the obviously tipsy Davido jumped out of the car
and started boasting “don’t you know me, what the fuck is wrong with
you guys”. He started shouting about who he is and what guts the Mopol
men had to stop his friend`s car. This act infuriated one of the Mopol and while the musician was still
ranting and boasting, he was landed a dirty slap and was threatened
with gun to shut up if he does not want to be bathed in his blood. He was allegedly rushed back into the car by Nosa and his friend who
had at that point gotten down from their bus and pleaded with the
uniformed men that he’s actually a popular musician especially in Lagos
and was coming from a show. The story however didn’t end there as the angry Davido did not
hesitate to transfer aggression to Nosa immediately they got back to the
hotel. The musician we learnt went as far as telling the man who got
him the Nokia performance deal to shut up and not talk when he’s talking
else he would slap him the way the Mopol treated him. Nosa, just walked away because he saw Davido as a proud boy.
The feud between Chris Brown and Drake may have taken a new turn as
both parties have been offered $1 million each to fight in a
celebrity boxing match. The pair had been involved in a alleged nightclub brawl earlier this
month, after it was alleged that upon discovering they were in the same
club, Brown sent a bottle over to Drake’s table. The Toronto rapper then
approached Brown and started arguing over Rihanna, Brown’s
ex-girlfriend who Drake also had a short relationship with.Though no arrests have been made over the brawl, the feud is still
thought to be ongoing and celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman has
revealed that billionaire digital media entrepreneur Alki David wants to
capitalise by staging a fight between the pair, for which he’ll pay
them $1 million each and give a further $1 million to charity.Feldman said of his hopes for the fight: “Obviously they have a
grudge. It’s just three one-minute rounds. No one will get seriously
hurt.”

Mark Geragos, Chris Brown’s attorney, has previously claimed that he
has evidence that Drake threw a bottle during the incident, while Brown
posted a picture of his gashed chin on Twitter after the fracas along
with a tirade of messages directed at Drake’s crew – although they have
since been removed.
Drake, however, has denied his involvement in the fight, and said he
was heading for the exits when the brawl broke out. A spokesman for the
rapper said: “Drake did not participate in any wrongdoing of any kind
last night at W.I.P. He was on his way out when the altercation began.”
Lets see who stands at the end of the bout

According to the managing director, every house and office in the

state, adding: “Every dwelling in the state will be numbered. So long
it is within the official statute of Lagos, it will be numbered.” He
stated further that the project of numbering Lagos houses and offices is
very essential as to ensure that businesses and homes are easily

Development Company Nigeria Plc., said on Tuesday, in Abuja, that
Nigeria was losing 5 billion dollars annually to oil theft. Sumonu spoke at the public hearing on the upsurge of illegal oil bunkering activities in Nigeria’s coastal region. The hearing was organised by the House of Representatives Joint Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) and Navy.
According to him, Nigeria loses approximately 150,000 barrels of oil
to illegal oil bunkering daily, while the company lost100 barrels daily
between 2003 and 2004. He explained that the activities of oil thieves had shifted from pilfering to a higher dimension. The shell boss said that stakeholders in the oil sector must display the political will to fight illegal oil bunkering.

“Every tier of government must be involved in the fight against illegal oil bunkering,”he said. Sumonu described illegal oil bunkering as a highly syndicated operation that involved oil company workers.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal,
gave an assurance that the National Assembly (NASS) would continue to
support the committee in checking illegal oil bunkering.
Tambuwalsaid that the NASS was ready to respond to the enormous challenge of checking illegal bunkering.
“The House of Representatives will respond to this kind of challenge for the well-being of the country,” he said. The speaker noted that the activities of oil thieves constituted threats to the nation’s security and environment. Mr Ade Abolurin, Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil
Defence Corps (NSCDC), said that the corps was ill equipped to
effectively check illegal oil bunkering. He said that the corps had arrested and prosecuted 300 Nigerians and 15 Ghanaians for illegal oil bunkering. Abolurin stressed that the corps would not compromise its position in checking the activities of oil thieves.

The NSCDC boss urged effective implementation of extant laws checking illegal oil bunkering. He called on the committee to help the corps to acquire state of the
art equipment to enable it to effectively check oil theft in the
country. Rep. Muraina Ajibola (PDP-Oyo), the Chairman of the House Committee
on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), urged the strengthening of relevant
institutions by allocating more funds to them to purchase equipment. Ajibola said that the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety
Agency (NIMASA) needed to step up its operations to check maritime
theft. However, he was dismayed by the absence of some key officers of some
agencies at the hearing, warning that the committee would not hesitate
to invoke the relevant laws against such officers. Other stakeholders at the hearing included the NPA, EFCC,NIMASA and NNPC. The ministers of Petroleum Resources and Environment were absent at the hearing.
A serious car wreck left 50 Cent hospitalized with possible injuries to his neck and back, according to a website affiliated with the rapper, This is 50. The crash involved his SUV and a mack truck, apparently.
It happened early this morning on the Long Island Expressway just
outside N.Y. City. The truck rear-ended 50's SUV, which "almost flipped
over."

The star was taken a nearby hospital, where, according to the site,
doctors ran tests on his neck and back. Fortunately, he checked out
fine. A rep for Curtis Jackson (50's real name) confirms:
"He was taken to New York Hospital Queens where he was treated for
minor neck and back injuries. He was released this morning and is doing
fine." Good to hear. Hopefully he recovers quickly and fully from the scary incident. In other 50 news, the rapper recently quashed his beef with Oprah.
sacked no fewer than 800 workers despite the Federal Government’s
directive to the management of the bank and organised labour to maintain
status quo pending resolution of labor issues between the management
and labour.
It was gathered that the sack came few days after the Federal
Government through the Ministry of Labour and Productivity at a meeting
in Abuja with the organised labour and management of the bank on the
outstanding gratuity of staff of the defunct Afribank Nigeria Plc. Meanwhile, organised labour, yesterday, asked the management of the
bank to immediately reverse the termination or labour and its allies
would shut down its operations nationwide, describing the management’s
action as illegal and unprocedural.
Vanguard gathered that of the 800 affected
staff, over 650 were members of the Association of Senior Staff of
Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions, ASSBIFI, affiliated to the
Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, while the rest were members of the
National Union of Banks, Insurance and Financial Employees, NUBIFIE,
affiliated to Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC.Vanguard gathered that the management just locked the
affected workers out of the bank’s network, denied them access to their
offices and asked them to wait for their termination letters through
their email boxes.

Job vacancies

1. JOB POSITION: Strategy and Business Development
