Crown Builds 500th new fuel cell-operated forklift

NEW BREMEN, Ohio -- Crown Equipment Corporation has built its 500^th new forklift to be operated with fuel cells. The number is in addition to the Crown forklifts already in operation that have been retrofitted during the last few years to accommodate fuel cells.

A Crown SR 5000 Series moving-mast reach truck was the 500^th truck to be built with a fuel cell. The Crown SR 5000 is the latest forklift to be qualified as part of Crown's fuel cell qualification program for its line of electric forklifts.

To date, Crown has qualified more than 20 of its electric forklift models to operate with various fuel cells, offering 29 qualified combinations of fuel cell packs and lift trucks.

Some of the current line of Crown forklifts powered by fuel cells include the Crown PC 4500 Series center control pallet forklift, the Crown SP 3500 Series stockpicker, and the Crown FC 4500 Series counterbalanced forklift. Applications have varied from Walmart Canada's sustainable distribution centre in Alberta to the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated production center in North Carolina, according to Crown officials.

"An increasing number of our customers are considering fuel cell-powered forklifts as a viable option. They are coming to us with questions and asking for help determining if and how this technology can be integrated into their fleets and facilities," said Ernst Baumgartner, Crown's fuel cell project manager. "Crown continues to work closely with fuel cell manufacturers to guide the evolution of the technology and increase levels of fuel cell integration with lift trucks."

I thought about getting my forklift license online, because it is a lot quicker. I feel that it would also be very beneficial for me anyways because I have forklift experience.

Sometimes I believed that getting forklift certifications online can be fake. I did my google search for forkliftacademy.com, made a phone call to them, check reviews, and check thoroughly to see whether it was a scam or not. After all that, I couldn't find anything that is wrong with them.

They said that they don't train people how to operate the forklift, they only give the reading material and administer the test. That is fine with me because I already have a solid amount of forklift experience, and I just want to get certified, that's all.

My question is that have any of you tried forkliftacademy.com? Have you ever got certified online? What are your experiences? Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

hands-on training isn't required in order to get certified, and the certification test is super easy. in fact, you could probably pass it without even taking a course, lol (but to be certified, you must complete a safety course and test).

If you have some experience driving a forklift, YOU DO NOT need to go to a location to complete your forklift certification. Everything can be completed online. You pay the $49.50 and you will begin the training right away. You will study the materials, practice the written test, etc. You will take the test online (many times as needed until passing the test), and print your own certification of completion.

After you complete the test, please log in into the training again. Then click on the forklift certification training link. Once there please look at the left panel, and look for the documentation link. Click on the documentation link, then create and print your forklift certificate. Please remember we will be sending your wallet card (forklift license) within 3 - 7 business days after completion of the forklift certification training.

During the forklift certification training session you will have an option to print your certificate of achievement. The certificate of achievement could be used as a temporary certificate until you receive your permanent foklift license (wallet card) on the mail.
