You may need to configure VPN, for example, to access your work email on an iOS device. VPN works over both Wi-Fi and cellular data network connections.

Configure VPN :Choose Settings > General > Network > VPN and then choose Add VPN Configuration. Ask your network administrator which settings to use. In most cases, if you've set up a similar VPN on your computer, you can use the same VPN settings for your device.

Turn VPN on or off:Once you've created a VPN configuration, the option to turn VPN on or off appears in the main Settings screen. When you are connected using VPN, the VPN icon appears in the status bar.

Troubleshooting VPN: If you are unable to connect to your VPN connection, or if you see an alert that says "Shared Secret is missing," your VPN settings may be incorrect or incomplete. If you have questions about what your VPN settings are or what your Shared Secret key is, you should contact your network administrator or IT Department.

Although ZTE trails rival device vendors in launching Android smartphones, it claims that the low price of the device will give it a competitive edge. "To be the first to market [with Android] is not so important to us, what's important is to bring Android to the mass market," Wu Sa, director of mobile device operations for ZTE UK, told Mobile Business Briefing. The device is also 3's first Android handset to break the £100 barrier. "This will make the Android touchscreen experience affordable," said David Kerrigan, head of Internet services at the UK operator. Other specs include HSDPA 7.2Mb/s capability, Android 2.1 support, a 3.2MP camera and 256MB of internal memory.
The phone comes with a pretty decent spec for the price tag, including a 2.8 inch display, a 3.2 megapixel camera, 2GB of storage, an FM radio, accelerometer, GPS and bluetooth.
The battery gives you 210 minutes of talk time, or 200 hours standby, and pleasingly enough, the device also runs Android 2.1.
It could be a tempting starter phone for many, and certainly doesn’t represent bad value for money.

LG shows off Mobile DTV device for America

LG has released the full specifications for the first American Mobile DTV device, the DP570MH.

The unit has a 7-inch, 480 x 234 resolution screen and can natively playback DVDs via the built-in drive. Making it a "Mobile DTV" device is the fact that it has a TV tuner that can pick up live TV, even while in fast moving vehicles.

The TV can playback live video for 2.5 hours on full charge, and has about 4.5 hours of battery life when used as a DVD player.

Mobile DTV is free, but the device will have $250 MSRP when it ships in a few months.

Skyfire 2.0 has been released today for the Android platform, and the full Flash experience (sorry Jobs) is part of the package. Skyfire uses server-side page rendering to bring web pages to the phone screen looking like they do on the desktop. Video streaming also works with few compromises, according to the developer.

The Skyfire 2.0 mobile browser for Android devices is now available to everyone. It is capable of playing Flash videos, using Skyfire's cloud servers that faclitate the video format decoding. The new SkyBar toolbar separates Flash content on a Web page to make it easier to access, recommends related contents and lets users share articles and videos with contacts on Facebook, Twitter, or by e-mail and SMS.

File this one under the "finally" category. Verizon Wireless is rolling out the webOS 1.4.1.1. update to its Pre Plus and Pixi Plus users. The update has many bug fixes, including one that takes care of the sticky key problem where pressing one key would cause double letters. Battery life is improved, and pinch to zoom now works in .docs, and .pdfs.

The lag in the camera shutter sound is now fixed, and newly taken photos and videos do not overwrite existing ones.

Amidst news of Palm being acquired by HP, it’s easy to miss out the less exciting news related to Palm, but Verizon subscribers should be happy to hear that the carrier has released webOS 1.4.1.1. According to the changelog on Palm’s site users should be happy to hear that pinch-to-zoom now works properly in Doc and PDF files, the lag in the camera shutter sound has been fixed and the keyboard input issue that duplicates key presses has also been resolved.

Hardly the most exciting Palm news you're gonna hear this week, but the company that still owns itself for the time being has just updated its WebOS software on Verizon to the extremely granular version 1.4.1.1. The helpful changelog informs us there are no new apps, but pinch-zoom now works correctly in Doc and PDF views, a lag in the camera shutter sound has been rectified, and forwarding videos uploaded to YouTube on to your friends via email has also been made to work as it should.

The HTC Evo 4G would be an interesting phone even if it lacked access to Sprint's "4G" WiMAX network. It's a large (humongous?) touchscreen phone running Android 2.1 and HTC's sparkling Sense UI. Besides all that Android has to offer, the phone is packed with multimedia, social networking and other fun and useful features. It might be too large for some, and Sprint's nascent network was a mixed bag in my tests, but for Internet addicts looking for a flagship phone, the HTC Evo 4G covers most of the bases.
