Music and glitters, all in one post!

Tonight's post is full of two of my favourite things, glitter and music!!! How do these two combine? They don't! But still here they are. Let's start with the glitters, which as you can imagine, are on my nails. I just got the new China Glaze Prismatic Chroma Glitters and of course I had to wear them asap!

I used Snazzle by Ulta3 as a base and then on my index and ring finger I am wearing Full Spectrum and on my thumb (that you cannot see here XD), middle and pinky finger I am wearing Prism. Full Spectrum is pink and Prism is purple so they work really well together. I loved all the colours from the collection but these two were my favourites. I used two coats of each over the silver nail polish and then some top coat. I am loving them on my nails, they really come alive especially under sunlight.

Next time I think I will try them over pink and purple creme nail polishes. I bet they're gonna look fab ^_^

And now for the musical part of this post. Quite some time ago I was given the I love Music and I love your Blog award by the lovely Tina of All the Vanity. Thank you Tina and I am sorry that I was so late in posting this.

So I now have to list my 5 favourite songs. Which is no easy task, as I am a huge music fan. But after much thinking here are the 5 most important songs to me. I won't tag anyone with this but if you want to do it, I would love to see what your 5 favourite songs are. Here I go with my list.

#1 is Wasted Years by Iron Maiden. This was the first song I was ever hooked to, when I was just a little girl. It shaped my future taste in music quite a bit.

#2 Enchantment by Paradise Lost. Paradise Lost are one of my favourite bands up to this day and this is one of the most beautiful songs they have ever written.

#3 Spirit by Dead Can Dance. I love their music more than words can say. Such gifted artists they are and I can't wait to see them live again in September ^_^

#4 Vanilla by Gackt. This was a really hard choice. I adore Gackt and he is such a gifted and multidimensional artist. I decided to show you his fun and quirky side (okay and his sexy abs too, can you blame me?).

#5 Osaka Romanesque by Kanjani8. All my friends know how much I adore Kanjani8. A sworn Eighter I am and proud of it too. Osaka Romanesque is the song that brings tears to my eyes every time. Which is why I wanted to share it with you all and close this post with it too. Thank you for reading this far :)

HITS phenomena, a multichrome glitter party

there is a glitter party going on my nails and I wanted to share it with you ^__^
If you are a nail fanatic, you will have heard of the latest offering by HITS, the Phenomena multichrome glitters.
As soon as I saw they were available, I snatched all four. And since I couldn't decide which one I liked best, I wore all four of them at the same time!

As usual my base was my favourite black, Color Club's Where's the Soiree and then a coat of each of the glitters on each finger (sealed with top coat). From left to right we have HITS Phenomena Air Glow, Moonbow, Borealis and Afterglow. The bottle I am holding is Afterglow. For some weird reason, Moonbow and Afterglow look the same in every photo but believe me they are quite different. Afterglow shifts between purple and orange tones while Moonbow goes from teal to magenta.

The only issue I had with these was the brush. I love HITS polishes but the brush is so weird. Not very easy to use as it is too big and not flexible enough. But the fabulous colours more than make up for it!

May nail inspiration, custom made nail polish bottles

It's May, which means my blog's second birthday is coming up, yay!!! I am already considering a ton of ideas to celebrate, but I will have more information on that in an upcoming blog post.

Today it's time for another nail inspiration post. Lately I have seen an interesting trend popping up in Nail Max. Custom made nail polish bottles. And we are not talking just adding some rhinestones or a sticker, we are talking having your nail polish bottles match your nails. As expected from the very talented and creative Japanese nail artists.

Have you ever considered doing something like this?

There was even a custom nail polish bottle championship. The lady bellow won first place.

And here we have the roses on second place and the blue butterfly bottle in third place. The butterfly design was my favourite.

Here are a few more designs. You can see that they creators went all the way with these!

I have to admit I am impressed! As you can see every method was used, from air brushing to gel.

Milani Jewel FX Fuchsia and Lavender

Hello everyone ^_^

today I have two fabulous nail polishes to show you, full of glitter and bling. They are Lavender and Fuchsia from the Milani Jewel FX series. I love the Milani glitters because they are easy to apply and don't need a gazillion of coats to spread the glitter evenly on your nails.

I used a coat my favourite black nail polish as the base (Where's the Soiree by Color Club) and then applied two coats of Lavender or Fuchsia on different fingers.

The two colours work really well together and the black background makes them more vibrant.

With a colour of Seche Vite top coat, my manicure was complete.

February travels, London

Hello everyone ^_^/

I haven't done a photo post in a while and this one is long overdue. Back in February I had my birthday. One of the presents I received from my darling, was a trip to London. We had a fab time and I've been meaning to post about it since then. So, without further delay, here are a few impressions from our journey.

We stayed at a lovely studio flat near my old neighbourhood. That sure brought back a lof of memories but I was also amazed at how much London has changed in the last few years. Especially with the Olympics right around the corner, you can tell the city is ready to welcome all the athletes and tourists.

We enjoyed a lot of good food, be it Chinese, Mexican, Italian or even traditional British fish and chips.

We did a fair share of shopping too. To be honest I did most of the shopping while poor darling was patiently waiting for me to choose XD

The weather was lovely so we enjoyed walking around during the day

and in the evening too!

Finally here is part of my London haul.

I tried to hold back as much as I could but it was no easy fit, believe me!

Ludurana Supremo, covered with stars

As you might know, I adore holographic nail polishes. And it's been quite some time since I showed you one, so for today, here is Ludurana Supremo, a fantastic lilac holographic nail polish.

I am always on the lookout for new holo shades so as soon as I saw the Ludurana Aurora Boreal series I knew I wanted to try one of the colours. I settled for Supremo as I didn't have a lilac holo in my collection. I applied two coats of the NfuOh Aqua base, which works wonders for holographic nail polishes.

I recently got the new Konad image plates, M84 and M85 from my friend 'Chelle so I wanted to try them out. I decided to use the stars designs as they were super cute. For stamping I used Color Club's Where's the Soiree, a black nail polish that turned out to be perfect for stamping. I carefully sealed everything with Seche Vite and this is the final result.

Nail polish Easter eggs

this past weekend was Orthodox Easter. One of our Easter customs is dying eggs. Traditionally eggs are dyed red but in recent years more colours are used. This year was the first time I dyed eggs on my own so I decided to go all out and have a blast in the process. I decided to make nail polish Easter eggs!

Wanna know how I did it? Then read on for the tutorial.

First I hard boiled my eggs and let them cool down (it's definitely not fun doing this if your eggs are boiling hot). While waiting for them to cool off I chose my colours and thought of a way to make the eggs stand somehow so I can paint them easier. I found an egg display dish which was perfect for the occasion.

I prepared my workspace by putting kitchen paper on the area I would work on and used a paper palette and a make up sponge I cut into pieces for all the painting.

Using the sponge I painted each egg in a different colour. I chose a variety of spring colours as I wanted each one to be different. I could have even left them like that as they looked super cute already.

But I wanted to play more and spice them up a bit so I used glitter on some. The end result was a success as everyone who saw them was impressed. Also as the eggs became super hard with all the nail polish layers, I managed to break everyone else's egg on Easter night hehehe!

Colourful spring skittle nails full of roses

today I have a very easy nail art tutorial to share with all of you, with impressive results, if I may say so.
It shall be called colourful spring skittles full of roses.

First here is what you will need

A neutral nail polish as your base. I used Zoya Cho.
Five bright creme colours (one for each finger). I used some of the new Ulta3 spring nail colours that I got from my friend 'Chelle in one of our recent swaps.
A flakie. I used Zoya Chloe.
Flower nail stickers. I used roses in yellow, blue and pink tones.
A sponge.
Tweezers to pick up the stickers.
A top coat to seal everything.

First I painted my nails with the neutral colour. After it was dry I sponged a different colour on each nail.
I waited for the nail polish to dry and then added a coat of Zoya Chloe. I could have stopped here if I wanted, as the result was already to my liking.

But I wanted to spice it up a little bit, so I added a mix of roses on each nail, sealing everything with top coat on the end. Here is the final result.

Fun and easy ^_^

April nail inspiration, fun nail art with acrylic paint

April is here and Spring is in full bloom. The best time to play with your nails, if you ask me. So here is another nail inspiration post. For this month I will show you some step by step nail designs using acrylic paints and a fine nail art brush, courtesy of the spring edition of Nail Venus. All of them are fun and very easy to do.

So let's start with some stars, a cute cat and a swallow.

Next we have some more gothic designs, including vampire lips and a skeleton.

Back to cute with ribbons and cherries.

And last but not least sweets and flowers.

What do you think of these step by step nail art tutorials? I think they are very easy to follow and the possibilities are endless as you can use any colours you like and even combine some designs on different nails. You can even do a design just on one nail, for a fun accent to a simpler manicure. All the photos are clickable so you can see bigger versions for more detail ^_^

On a sidenote, I have a new scanner. Can you see the improvement in the pictures, or is it just me? XD

Anna Sui #210, a beautiful purple

you might remember back in September I mentioned the new Anna Sui nail polish bottle design. Since then I have been dying to get my hands on a few of these lovelies. Recently, with the help of a couple dear friends, my wish was realised. Now I have a small Anna Sui dress bottle army, yay!

Here is a better look at all the colours. The bottles look gorgeous and as expected of Anna Sui all the colours are very interesting and quite unique.

Of course I had to try the purple one that I got from my friend Moni, first.
It is Anna Sui nail color N #210. A beautiful royal purple that applied perfectly after two coats. I used a coat of Anna Sui top coat for quick drying and to preserve the lovely rose smell. When I first saw the bottle design, I was wondering if it would be easy to handle but this was not an issue at all.

Purple is one of my favourite colours and this nail polish did not disappoint me. Perfect coverage with two coats and with the help of the top coat it lasted for quite a while. I had this on for 4 days before changing it and had no tip wear at all.

Taking part in a jewellery exhibition for the first time

this is a post I have been meaning to make for a while now. Finally I find the time to write it :)
As you might remember from a while back, in December I took part in a jewellery exhibition for the first time. It was a great experience for me as it was the first time I got to show my work in public.

The artists who live in my hometown are very well organised and every year they make various exhibitions showcasing their arts and crafts. So before Christmas they decided on a jewellery exhibition. As soon as the date was set, I started brainstorming and working, using up all my free time.

My workshop was a constant mess XD

The exhibition was opening on December 15 and lasted for a week. A day before the opening we all gathered to set everything up. I decided to showcase a fair mix of jewellery and deco items. Decoden is basically unknown in Greece and it was the first time people saw this kind of thing. Everyone was very excited and impressed by all the bling ^_^

Here is how I set up the jewellery I made.

I snapped a few photos during the opening. It was very crowded so I waited for closing time because it would be impossible to take decent photos in the crowd. This was my little corner in the room.

And here are a couple more shots so you can see what else was on display. Apart from jewellery many artists showcased other types of accessories and even some decorations and furniture. I was particularly impressed by a really cool lamp that was made of wood and clay (you can see it in the middle of the second photo below).

Finally, although you do not get to see my face often in this blog, here is a bonus shot of me XD

All in all I have to say this was a fantastic experience. I have been to many exhibitions of this kind before but I have never taken part. I was very happy and pleased because our exhibition was greeted enthusiastically by the local community and we had great success. Hopefully we will repeat this next year ^_^

You know that happy feeling when you get a package in the post. It is very exciting when it is nail mail. But what makes it even more special is when the package is from a dear friend. During the last couple of months I received packages from two very special friends of mine so today I want to show you what was inside ^_^

Just a bit after the holidays I received a Happy New Year package from my dear friend 'Chelle. I have met her through her blog Cosmetic Cupcake and I can say she is now one of my dearest friends both in the blogging world and outside of it. So you can tell I am always happy to receive anything from her ^_^

The package was filled with amazing goodies, from snacks to nail polishes and cosmetics.

I decided to try the Face of Australia nail polish in Iron Ore first, with a layer of OPI Pink Shatter over it.

Iron Ore is part of the Face of Australia Molten Metallics collection. It's a beautiful black metallic colour and it worked really well with Pink Shatter.

Just in time for my birthday I received a package from another dear friend of mine, Moni from Beauty Oshaberi. We have so many things in common including our love for kawaii and Anna Sui and you can see that in the package contents ^_^

So many lovely nail polishes and brands I have never tried before and she even fulfilled my wish for the new Anna Sui nail polishes in the dress bottles. *does happy dance* I have already tried some of these beauties in a mani I did for my birthday trip to London (blog post about that coming soon).

And finally as soon as I returned from my trip, I found another package from 'Chelle, for my birthday. It was so sweet of her to remember me <3

As you can see the package was full of spring colours and unique nail polshes plus so many cute goodies including a bow for my iphone (which I am using already ^_^).

the Greek files #11, Seventeen flakies galore

I cannot believe I haven't done a Greek files post since November. Shame on me. But this epic post will make up for it. Here is a preview of what is to follow!

So during one of my recent shopping trips, while browsing around for new colours, I discovered that Seventeen has released 3 lovely flakies.

(you can see them on the top shelf in the middle)
Of course I had to get them and try them out. They are shades 103 (a golden flakie), 104 (a blueish flakie) and 105 (a greenish flakies). I also picked up 539, a multichrome that reminds me of Hard Candy's Beetle.

Here they are swatched on a nail wheel over black. One coat of each over one coat of black nail polish. No top coat. From left to right, 539, 105, 104, 103

I must say that I am impressed. Seventeen have been keeping up with almost every trend as of late. Crackles, multichromes, flakies and some fantastic glitters. I am hoping they do some magnetics soon too.

So after testing these lovely flakies on the nail wheel, I wanted to wear a mani with them. After much thought I decided to try 105 as it was the most unique of the three. It shifts between green and blue as you can see below.

First I painted my nails black. Then I added a coat of Seventeen 105. After it was dry I painted the tips of some nails with pink glitter (Color Club Candy Cane) and on the rest I used some super cute skull nail decals I got from 'Chelle during one of our swaps. Topped everything with Seche Vite and this was the end result.

March nail inspiration, time for some spring colour!

March is here and although the weather is quite cold still we can say that spring is here. So this month's nail inspiration will have a spring theme. This time I present to you some nail ideas from ES Nail, a well known nail salon from Tokyo. Recently they published a catalogue full of pretty nail art ideas.

These pretty flower themed nails are on the cover.

This look is not hard to achieve. You just paint a half moon mani using the colours of your choice and then you either paint the flowers or use some flower nail stickers. Finally a touch of glitter and some bullions and you're done.

Here are a few more ideas for fun yet easy srping manicures.

First a classic french spiced up with a few rhinestones.

Polka dots. Here in red and white as pin up looks are very in this spring but you can basically use any colour combination you like.

And last but not least here is a simple method for a marble mani (not requiring water or making a mess of your fingers).

I got raindrops on my nails

this is going to be a quick post as I am sick with the flu and not supposed to be sitting in front of the computer at all. But I wanted to show you Raindrops, a beautiful grey nail polish from Illamasqua. This is quite a unique colour. It is grey with silver flakies and it is quite sheer. I am wearing four coats to make it so opaque (plus a coat of Seche Vite on top). But as you can see, it is well worth it.

The first photo is more true to the actual colour but I added the second one so you can see the lovely silver flakes in the bottle ^_^

HITS No Olimpo Hera

It is almost the weekend so it is a good time for something glamorous. Nothing fits the bill better that the HITS no Olimpo series. As soon as I saw swatches of these gorgeous holographic nail polishes I knew I wanted to get my hands on some of them. An added plus is the Ancient Greek theme.

Today I will show you HITS No Olimpo Hera, a beautiful teal holographic nail polish.

I wore two coats of Hera, over NfuOh's aqua base (my base coat of choice when it comes to wearing holos), sealed with a coat of Seche Vite top coat. It went chip free for 7 days. Below you can see how the colour looks in the daytime. The holo effectt is visible even in the shade.

I tried to capture the effect as best I could as winter is not the best time to photograph nail polishes. Still as you can see the holo is definitely eye catching.

As a holo lover I have to say, this nail polish is fabulous! If you love holographic nail polishes as much as I do, you should definitely try this brand ^_^

Stars on silver, my first mani for 2012

Hello everyone ^_^/

This is something I should have posted earlier, as it is the first mani of the year.
One of my resolutions for 2012 is to use up as many of my beauty products as I can. That includes of course nail polishes and nail art supplies. I have a tendency to collect nail art stickers and to never use them because they are so cute. This has to change, so for this year I vowed to use as many as I can.

Putting that into effect here are the nails I did for the New Year. My theme was metal and stars.

Here is what I used.

My base colours were Stargazer silver chrome (which happens to be my first metallic nail polish, I have this bottle for over 10 years) and Models Own Thunder & Lightning. Then I added purple and black star decals and Models Own Purple Haze!

When I first took out all the bottles, I wasn't sure of the end result but my nails ended up looking fabulous and sparkly, so I can say the experiment was a success.

Now let's see how many nail polishes and nail decals will I be able to use up during the year XD

My festive December

Hello everyone ^_^/
here is another photoblog, this time for the month of December.
The end of the year turned out to be really busy for me.

First of all I took part in an art exhibition, which was a great experience. I will make a seperate detailed post about it at some point but here are some snaps from the event.

I enjoyed my country's beautiful landscapes and traditional architecture and finally had a white Christmas!

It was so much fun walking around and going shopping in the midst of all the light and decorations.

But the best part was definitely celebrating Christmas with my family ^_^

Even though I was quite busy, December was a great month all in all.

Gothic bling, a perfect combination!

Hello everyone ^_^/

the holidays are now over (unless you celebrate the Chinese New Year, in which case I envy you!) but I will show you a project I did before Christmas. I wanted to make a new deco case for my iPhone, but I wanted it to reflect my personal taste 100% So it had to be dark. And purple. And super sparkly too somehow!

After careful planning I came up with a Steampunk Deco Gothic iPhone case! Yes ^_^
And here it is!

First I coated my case and added the main pieces. A Fleur de Lis, a skeleton cameo, wings and a key.

Then I carefully placed the Swarovski crystals, using grey and purple as my main colours.

Of course as you can see in the first photo, I added some cute phonestraps as well. If something isn't hanging from my phone, I find it to be empty somehow :o What do you think of the result? I think it fits me perfectly ^_^

And I will close this post with a couple of projects I did this week.

A deco flower purse hook/key chain for my mother

and a lipstick and pill case set for a friend.
