Toycon 2011 Day 2: A Sweet Ending

A "Rainy Day 2" but the weather will never stop the cosplayers to witness the shoot of the Cosplay Nation. I've decided to make a round first before setting myself up on the venue. Of course a lot of cosplayers are preparing outside, dealing with their costumes and waiting for their companions to be with them on that event.

Cosplay Nation seems to be the wildest part of Toycon 2011 and the biggest part of it was the popularity of Alodia Gosiengfiao. She portrayed Black Mage Rikku for the Cosplay Nation and Haruhi Suzumiya for the announcement of the winners of the group/individual cosplay competition.

Also I would like to emphasize this line of Cholo Malilin for the Day 2 of the Toycon 2011, "As of 3 PM, we sold out all 20k tickets!". This will gonna be the record to break for the next Toycon and I'm expecting it to be at the SMX Convention Center.

Just for me to define the happenings on Toycon 2011 Day 2, I will consider dealing with the pictures to be our medium for you to set the story for the sweet ending of Toycon 2011

Toycon 2011 Day 1: Craziest Day Ever!

We've been so blessed and happy this year that Cosplayer Studio Blog evolved a lot and here we are, blogging about Toycon 2011. We've been considered to cover the event and really thanks to Sir Azrael Coladilla for the trust and now I'm starting to dig up my memory on what happened in Toycon 2011 Day 1.

Crazy! That's how I define the first day most especially the Cosplay Nation stage. Artist of ABS-CBN came to witness the opening of the Toycon 2011. Alodia Gosiengfiao was so so early to the event. She portrayed Mirai Suenaga of Culture Japan.

Cosplay Nation stage is like a concert stage with a little bit of catwalk. Everyone is jumping around, making some noises, and that's so full of people. Also the Asia Cosplay Meet was really outstanding. This is how great the Toycon 2011!

So what I'm gonna do now is to post some pictures of the said event and I will credit my blogger friends for all of the pictures.

Be Part of a Film "Cosplay Nation" in Toycon 2011

As for another happening in Toycon for their 10th anniversary, Cosplay Nation, a movie held by Chinese movie production Yian Studios and also a collaboration with the China Film Group Corp, they'll plot the scene of the said film at the Toycon 2011. Also a combination with another event which is Asia Cosplay Meet. Wow that's totally humongous!

For the characters of the movie Cosplay Nation, here's the three main characters which includes the Chinese Cosplayers Linda Le and Cheng Yi. Another big part of the character is our Filipina Cosplayer Alodia Gosiengfiao. So this coming Toycon 2011, Linda Le will be the representative of Cosplay Nation in Toycon 2011 and for the Philippines, of course our very own Alodia Gosiengfiao. I'm also doing a coverage on that event and I want to see Linda Le on flesh and also the Gosiengfiao sister. I wonder what will they portray this coming Toycon 2011.

So if you're a cosplayer and you want to be a part of that film, just come to the Toycon 2011 at Megatrade Hall 1, 2, 3 this coming June 18-19. I will share the synopsis of that film which I've got from the Toycon 2011 Press con.

A film that captures the essence of the phenomenon Cosplay craze and supported by a hot movie soundtrack.

Cosplay Nation is as much a film about identity and about long-standing class and cultural differences. Set in China, Cosplay Nation traces Sasa Li's struggle to attain a sense of self-worth in family of wealth and culturally conservative surroundings.

The film opens with the noise of Beijing's busy street and the camera focuses on Sasa exiting her daddy's Mercedes to the throbbing sound of WU XING and the noise of traffic chime in as Sasa struts down the streets of the shopping district. Raised by conservative, wealthy Chinese parents, and a revered older sister who seems to have the perfect life, Sasa spends all of her free time and money perfecting her image for appearances at Cosplay events, where she excels as a cosplayer.

Sasa's function in her circle of friends is neither a shy student nor a spoiled brat. Online and at cosplay events around China, Sasa commands ecstatic admiration from her peers and acts as a new type of youth in the face of traditional Chinese family conservatism. Her role-playing unites and lifts the spirits of her alienated community of peers. The power of her physical presence and prowess, combined with her confident "attitude" is graphically demonstrated in scenes where the crowd parts when Sasa enters on stage and her friends cheer as she dances her solos. The online media even begins to call her China's Lady Gaga.

The opposition between the non-ideological impact of the cosplay scene and the ideological power of the traditional wealthy Chinese family is underscored in the relationship between Sasa and her sister, Ah Mei. When Ah Mei announces that she no longer wants the lifestyle of just being a ewalthy "stay at home mom" and socialite, the family is stunned by news that she will leave her marriage. Sasa's own faith in her talent as a cosplayer and her belief in the regenerative space of cosplaying grows. After meeting Alodia, a popular cosplayer from the Philippines and TV host on Animax who is enamored with travelling and in the process of refining her image, she begins to drift away from her group of friends, who presents the key to escape from her family and entry into the nation of cosplay, all around the world.

Event Coverage: Toycon 2011 Press Conference

Yey! I'm here at ToyCon 2011 or should I say the 10th Philippine Toy Convention 2011 Press Con to cover up this interesting event. The event was held at Eurotel Pedro Gil and really they have this wonderful function room so if you want to consider to do some events, this is another alternative for the event coordinators.

Presscon Highlights (Live Blogging):

Starting the event is an introduction songs coming from Himitsu Heiki with their line up songs Magic Knight Rayearth - Yuzurenai Negai and don't know the second song but it's from the anime Card Captor Sakura - They're really good most especially the Magic Knight Rayearth Opening song. That was fantastic!

Second, the appearance of the Philippine X-Men Cosplay and for those people who don't know, they're featured in Marvel Official Website and they're in rage.

Cholo Malilin is on the line, discussing about the history of Toycon from the first Toycon with 40 vendors up to the last which have great number of vendors with 20K people.

China collaboration in Toycon 2011 and they will shoot a feature film here which includes the Toycon 2011. Cosplay Nation is the name of the film featuring Linda Le, Cheng Yi, and our very own Alodia Gosiengfiao.

Movies featured in Toycon: Green Lantern, Transformers - Rise of the Moon and Captain America.

Consider to support Larunungan, a good project of ABS-CBN for the kids who can't buy a toy for themselves. Just donate your old toys or even books, that may help our unfortunate kids to see a smile on their faces.

A: I am Myrtle Gail Sarrosa, a 16 year old girl currently residing in Iloilo City.

Q: On your own words, what is cosplay/cosplaying? What inspires you to do cosplay and when did you start cosplaying?

A: For me, cosplaying is a way of expressing yourself. It's a great hobby which allows us to show appreciation to our favorite characters. It's a fun way of creating your own styles and versions of costumes as well. It's definitely a great practice when it comes to art and creativity and it's a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends as well. I have been cosplaying for a year and a half.

What has inspired me to cosplay is of course my fandom for different mangas and animes. I've been watching animes since my childhood and that fact probably drove me to dressing like my favorite characters. Alongside my love for dressing up and fashion.

So my anniversary featured cosplayer for today was one of my favorite. I saw her last Toycon portraying C.C of Code Geass (that's with Pizza Pie) and really stunned at her. Her name is Jia Gold Bustamante. I guess she stabled herself as one of the promising cosplayer in Asia. She won an award in Asia Cosplay Meet Singapore as the Finest Cosplayer In Asia. I'm super late to update because of this flu but of course it's my responsibility to update this blog because we pursue being bloggers and a blog needs to be updated everytime. So there's a lot of debate about this "professional cosplayer" topic and I will not comment on that one just to be neutral on some comments so if it's a big deal for some readers of this post, I'm letting all of you to bring your reaction to that. Of course we will accept constructive criticisms only!

She managed to make it to the scene by means of having this chance to be with the Gosiengfiao sisters and now she already had her own brand as one of the promoter of an online game (which is the Cardmon Hero). I saw her after the Cardmon Event, that's outside the Oakwood Tower in Ortigas. We were late that time so I guess you all know this cosplayer (for local viewers), her name is Chienna Filomeno, that's our fourth featured cosplayer. ^_^

I'm really amazed on her portrayal of Aerith of FFVII. I'm not a fan of that game but still gave me a chill coz' I've watched it on Youtube and she really did a great job dealing with the details. Also we featured lolita fashion here which is different to cosplaying just to make the genre more wide. Anyway, now this is a cosplayer and really she astounds me with her killer cosplay act of Erza Scarlet. Her name is Kristell Lim. A: Cosplay is an art or a hobby, where people dresses up and imitates characters from anime, manga, games, comics, cartoons, movies and from several other sources. Being an anime fanatic and a casual gamer since I was very young, I suppose what inspired me is if I could bring those characters in to life. I started cosplaying in February 2010.

Before I start this article, I just want to say that we're back on the business. A lot of updates has been finished and here's the new face of our blog. New design, new header and new domain. So let me start the day with this event, The MSI 25 Years Event featuring Alodia Gosiengfiao as a host with Gino Quillamor of RX 93.1. We all know that Alodia Gosiengfiao is proud of herself being geek and also a gamer girl. "Geek Rocks, Geek will rule the world"! On this event, she portrayed I-no of the video game Guilty Gear and really she's fantastic on portraying that one. What do you expect? She's the Cosplay Goddess!

Although I didn't make it on that event, I've been into this geekiness coz' I'm a programmer and a gamer. Also I'm upgrading my own PC with my bare hands and really MSI products were always on my list of the most recommended computer parts especially the MOB. Happy Anniversary Cosplayer Studio! I'm so proud that we did this blog and it all started as a SEO tutorial of my buddy and he's the primary owner of this blog. Then it all comes to be a hobby for us if we don't have any workload that day. Q: On your own words, what is cosplay/cosplaying? What inspires you to do cosplay and when did you start cosplaying?

A: Cosplaying is an art ~ To portray/to be an anime character for a day! I started atteding conventions last 2009, got no idea about cosplaying yet, that's why I didn't have any costume during that event. So far I've only tried to costrip :) (to cosplay without portraying an anime - it's like I'm the one creating a character on my own.)

A: Hi! My name is Patricia Uy Roxas. You can call me Aya/ Trish for short and I'm from Cubao, Quezon City. I'm 17 of age.

Q: On your own words, what is cosplay/cosplaying? What inspires you to do cosplay and when did you start cosplaying?

A: For me, cosplaying is mimicking a specific anime character of your choice and acting exactly like him/her. What inspires me to cosplay is my love for anime. Ever since I was small I always watched anime on television and I wanted to be like them, and when I found out about cosplay I wanted to try it as soon as possible! :P I joined a cosplay competition in my school during our intramurals but I don't really consider it my first cosplay cuz it was held in school. My first cosplay was on April 8, 2011 at the Ozine fest in SM Megamall. ♥ :3

A: I've only just begun, all in all I've only cosplayed 3 anime characters so far. Misa Amane from death note, Morrigan Aensland from Dark Stalkers, and Black Rock Shooter. :) I think my best cosplay outfit so far was Morrigan. I cosplayed her on the first day of the Ozine fest. :3

Q: Your expectation this 2011?

A: This year 2011 I expect to cosplay a lot of awesome anime characters and become a famous cosplayer just like Alodia Gosiengfiao. ♥ :)

I may say, some may called it so revealing but I guess she started a great cosplay by taking the role of Morrigan Aensland. Although it's very critical to do that cosplay in a sense of costume details and acts to be more flirtatious like her but I guess she did it great. My criticism on that one was the body. You must trim your body to deal with this cosplay act. On the part of the Black Rock Shooter, this is my favorite. Actually this is also common and it's very easy to deal with but the case to battle on this one is the portrayal especially on the facial reaction. I saw Cosplayer Saya do the same thing and I'm really amazed on her portrayal. On her cosplay, it's weird coz' I have the same feeling that she did it that great but I will not compare her to Saya. We all know that she's so good and keen for details. So I'm done with my end comments and she deserves to have 4.50 zenies total.

A: Hello everyone! Just call me Faye Liper, pronounce it right, not left. :3 It’s my real name by the way; it always mistakenly consider by others as a screen name. As we all know, most of people in cosplay industry change their name into anime character or Japanese name, but I used to stick to it because I want to be known as I am and the real me. I’m living in the world of dreams comes into reality and I am young enough to believe that anything is possible, and old enough to make that belief a reality. (Oh! A: Cosplay? Hmmmn. For me, cosplay is on behalf of knowing special people and be their great friends. I also love anime, particularly arcade and on-line games so I favored to enter the cosplay world. I always do cosplay with my boyfriend Aamond Magtira as his partner and I always had fun. People really appreciated it because they feel the love and it feels so good when I see the smile of every person. As long as there are people and friends around me, who always smile, I also feel the best of life and my best cosplay. ;)

It's okay if you enjoyed answering some questions doll. I'm also waiting for more information to get from your answers and of course that's so better for the foreign readers of our blog. Anyway, on the side of cosplaying, I guess what matters to me is the deal of being true to yourself and you make it on that part. I'm seeing some aura of dedicative presence and really like it that way. The costumes were very much okay and there's no imperfection for the costumes as long as you can detailed yourself on the portrayal part. Just one point doll, you'll need to do something extraordinary to make a good impression on the cosplay community. I believe on what you are doing and you're doing great so do something extraordinary next time. Actually, I want to give you 5 zenies but I'm lessin' it down to 4.75, that .25 is for your improvement. :)

Well, Rose Chua for short!=3 I am from Malolos bulacan, a proud Bulakena cosplayer and alsp a part of Bulacan Cosplay Mania. but as of now I'm currently living in Banawe Quezon City for some sort of reasons. :) And hmmm, I turned 18 last Sept. 12. 2010. A: Cosplay is happiness and love ? Ye right! I defined it as LOVE and HAPPINESS. When I was young, I used to watch anime and dreamt of being an anime character too. Since childhood days, Iam a very cheerful kid. Until one day i lost my dad. :'( Everything went wrong and it seems I haven't found happiness for 2 years because of the heartbreak from my dad's lost. A: Hmmmm? My very first cosplay was last November 7,2010 as Archbishop from the online game Ragnarok. I can say that this archbishop costume of mine is one of my favorite and overused costume! XD It embraces my heart so much because it is my first costume. I also cosplayed Lord Knight from Ragnarok Online, and then Alice in the labyrinth Bunny Version last Toycon 2010. That costume was definitely cute ? And then after that I cosplayed Ragnarok Rune Knight. Ohhh. Full of Ragnarok game characters! =) Last PCC I cosplayed Amane Misa of Death Note. And oh, my last and latest costume was Sylvanas Windrunner from World of Warcraft. It was epic for me. :D

Q: As for you, what's your best cosplay act for your entire career?

A: My best cosplay? It was Lady Sylvanas wind runner of World of warcraft. I'm in character and I actually never find myself smiling the whole convention when I was wearing my costume. It was fun seeing people who plays Dota and world of warcraft recognizeD me for my character is their favorite hero. It was A NICE AND very overwhelming feeling. =)

Q: Some expectation this 2011?

A: I am expecting better and bigger cosplay society this 2011. The entire world is getting to recognize cosplay as well as how it helps people enjoy and how it relieves stress.It also helps the youth in a very good way, because of cosplay our youth today tend to focus more on cosplay and stop their vices. That's a very big help here in our country. I am also expecting myself to cosplay all my cosplans for this year ; Jessie from toy story, Le Louch of the Rebellion and Bellato of RF online for level up 2011. Watch out for these guys!

I like the fact on how she handles her costumes and how she portrays on the camera. Also noticed that a lot of Bulaceña cosplayers were really good on showcasing their talent as a cosplayer. I remember this status on my news feed that "if you have a choice, do you want to make cosplay as a sport?". Well I may say yes coz' I want to see some great talents of every city or province here in the Philippines most especially this type of cosplayers. Really amazed on her Lady Sylvanas Wind Runner! There's no words to criticize on that cosplay act and all of her Ragnarok Online cosplay acts really rocks. So again, here's my 5 zenies and it's really worth to give you that amount. ^_^

Alodia Gosiengfiao and Meidos of Meidolls Cafe Spotted at the Globe Tattoo Event

Globe Tattoo event has been held last Friday. Some celebrities spotted on that event and Of course if I have the opportunity, I want to see some celebrities there like Saab and Elmo Magalona, Sarah Gaugler and also our very own, the Cosplay Goddess Alodia Gosiengfiao as one of the ambassador of Globe Tattoo. I was about to know the event by the status of Reia Ayunan of Meidolls Cafe that they're invited on then said event to cosplay and also as a representative of their cafe as a cosplay hub here in the Philippines.

Alodia was on her gothic style dress and she's absolutely stunning. Of course the Meidos of Meidolls cafe really do their own thing headed by Reia with her staff Arianne and Ivy. I may say, that's totally great. Definitely Reia and her cosplay cafe Meidolls Cafe will have this great exposure of making a scene on this event. Props to all of you.

Had a few disappointments last Sunday but that's okay. So lets see now, starting our day is a very positive Filipina cosplayer and you can see to her face that she's so optimistic and also witty. Q: Can you introduce yourself to your fans (Name, Location and your Age)?

A: Hi everyone! I am Christine Jean Blardony, also known as the “Pink lolitta”, Blardz, C.J and Tin. Surprisingly, I got a lot of nicknames and you can call me any of these though ^_^ I am an active cosplayer of both Anime and K-pop cosplays/events. I live here in Quezon City. And I just turned 19 last March 17! =) Well, as you can see I’ve passed the teenager level already, yet I am still a hardcore player of PS2 games such as Naruto Shippuden and Tekken! Oh, how I Iove playing these games with my sister!

Q: On your own words, what is cosplay/cosplaying? What inspires you to do cosplay and when did you start cosplaying?

A: When it comes to how long I’ve been cosplaying, honestly, I am a complete newbie! I started last year, late December. It was during the U.P AME cosplay event that our family friend (ate Kat Uy) lend me her lolitta dress. It was during that time that I’ve learned to love and appreciate cosplaying! And so the “pink lolitta” was born.

With regards to my view with cosplaying, I see it as something dynamic! It is always changing. Every event there will always be new character, cosplayer and style. There are no rules and limits! You can be anything and everything you want. In this world of cosplay, you can go beyond imagination and make these things a reality! Breathing… ALIVE! =) For me, it is more than just a getaway from a busy life and school works. Cosplay is far more than that. It deals with passion, creativity and true ART!

What inspires me to do cosplay is my love for fashion, appreciation for anime arts and craving for FUN! There will always be something to look forward to in every coslplay event! It challenges me to make my characters a special one and worth remembering!

Q: Can you enumerate all of the cosplay acts that you have done? As for you, what's your best cosplay act for your entire career?

A: My first anime cosplay which is last year late December was the “Pink Lolitta”. During that time, I had so much fun cosplaying and so it was one of my favourite cosplay ever! Afterwards, I cross-dressed and cosplayed G-dragon (Korean band: BIG BANG) and Utau in casual clothing (I was not able to produce her real costume despite buying her wig...hehehe) which was shot by the CPG.

Last March, I became part of the k-pop dance group “HEAT”, cosplaying 2PM wherein I played the role of Woo-young. We covered their “I’ll be Back” and “Again and Again” album cover wherein we became the 1st runner-up for the K-pop Dance Reverse Competition!(hooray!)

For my latest character which was during the OZINE FEST in SM MEGAMALL, I cosplayed Shana of “Shakugan no Shana” wearing Victorian-type of clothing.On the 3rd day, I cosplayed Utau of “Shugo Chara ”, however, wearing a pink-maid dress. Both characters were really special since they made my OZINE FEST experience a blast!=)

As far as my cosplay career is concerned, my most favourite character so far is Utau (lolitta version), followed by Shana(I just love how cool she is.)

Yet, all of my cosplayed characters are really special to me. Through them, my world became bigger and I was able to meet new friends!

Q: Your expectation this 2011?

A: For 2011, I do hope that I can be part of many more successful cosplay events. I will work hard in making/cosplaying more interesting characters in the near future. Hopefully, through my cosplay, I can help other people appreciate the effort many cosplayers put into their work of arts (characters), so that they may see the beauty of cosplay! Also, I look forward into meeting new friends and strengthening bonds with my co-cosplayers. I would like to make this year of my cosplay career an exciting and fruitful one!

A: Im Xanthe Zinovia Nicolas, my friends call me Xan or Xazi. I will be turning 16 this May and I'm from Quezon City

Q: On your own words, what is cosplay/cosplaying? What inspires you to do cosplay and when did you start cosplaying?

A: Cosplay for me is a way of expressing my love for anime and on line games. Cosplaying has help me overcome my shyness thus make me more confident now in dealing with other people. Meeting new friends irregardless of age and gaining more confident is what motivates me to do cosplay. The first ever event i attended was at Ozine in April 2010 with my cousins, me as Suki from The Last Airbender.

The best cosplay act i have done so far is Rin from Naruto because its comfortable.

Q: Your expectation this 2011?

A: My expectations for the year 2011 are having a chance to meet Alodia and Ashley personally and have the chance to have a picture taken with them. To finally have enough courage to join coslay competitions even with a group for a start and lastly be able to join more cosplay events and photoshoots for a cause.

A: My name is Trishia Mae Ramos, but everyone knows me as Ishi in the cosplay community. I reside in Project 4 Quezon City. I am 18 years old. :)

Q: On your own words, what is cosplay/cosplaying? What inspires you to do cosplay and when did you start cosplaying?

A: For me, cosplaying is where you can express yourself, knowing and being satisfied that you gave justice to the character you wanted to be and at the same time enjoying what you do. I really never care if some other people say negative feedbacks about cosplay, the real deal here is you enjoy yourself, you show off your creativity and you make everyone happy by just cosplaying. I started cosplaying since April 2007. I was invited by my classmate to join their group skit. So I said why not. At first I really don’t know what cosplay is. But when I attend cosplay convention I was amazed by the cosplayers i’ve saw. I was like “wow ganito pala ang cosplay”. I can see to their faces that they were really enjoying cosplaying. And also they are really confident in what they are doing. And that’s what inspires me to join cosplay. I want to bring life the anime.

After that I cosplayed Dizzy of Guilty Gear during Ozine fest 2008. Then I cosplayed Haruhi Suzumiya Bunny outfit ver during Mangaholix 2008. Then I cosplayed Mitsuru of Persona 3 during Photoshoot In Makati only. Then I cosplayed Anna of He is my Master during 2nd Cosplay Fashion art show. Then I cosplayed I-no (black version) of Guilty Gear during Cosplay Mania 2008. Then followed by Fanny of Guilty Gear during 3rd annual Christmas TOYCON. Then I cosplayed Ruriko of Pure Trance during Toycon 2009(day1). Then I cosplayed Tifa Lockhart of Final Fantasy Advent Children during Toycon 2009(day2). Then I cosplayed Rikku of Final Fantasy X-2. Then I cosplayed Cover Girl of G.I. Joe during G.I. Joe Movie Toy Launch. Then I cosplayed Pikachu (human version) of Pokemon during Otaku Taiki 2009. A self made character design. Then I cosplayed Al azif of demonbane during Cosplay Mania 09. Then I cosplayed Okino Makoyo of Zone 00 during Toycon 2010. Then I cosplayed Saeko Busujima of Highschool of the Dead during Cosplay Mania 2010. Then I cosplayed Shadow Chaser of ragnarok during Level Up Live: For Guild and Glory 2010. . So far, the best character that I cosplayed was the Kirin set of Monster Hunter. Because it is the first time I cosplayed armored Character. And I liked it. And I guess I’m going to stick cosplaying armored characters.

Q: Your expectation this 2011?

A: Hmm. My expectation this 2011 for cosplay community is, I hope to lessen all the negative feedbacks coming from other people, to lessen the bashing from cosplayers. One more thing. They always judge the cosplayers on how they look for example. If they saw some cosplayer wearing sexy they call it whore. My god, they should know the person first before saying something not good. Remember “don’t judge a book by its cover”. And I hope to lessen or rather say to vanish all of the "pervtographers" in the cosplay community.

A: I'm Cornellia De Dios, a BS HRM Student from UE Caloocan. I'm 19 this year, and I'm not sure if I do have fans,since I'm somewhat new and all..xD

Q: On your own words, what is cosplay/cosplaying? What inspires you to do cosplay and when did you start cosplaying?

A: Cosplaying is a form of art and a hobby that helps me develop my self-esteem. I was a really shy person, I couldn't even say my opinions out loud. But now, since I have lots of friends in the community, they helped me change without knowing it. Since the first time I've started,which was about 4 years ago during my High School Days, I haven't really been active in the community much, but those people I've met back then told me that "shy people doesn't usually succeed in any field". So I stopped, and taught myself first how I could pull off a good Cosplay. Entering College, I met good friends who happened to be waaaaayyy knowledgeable in Cosplaying and other Japanese sub-cultures (like the Lolita Fashion, Vissual Kei, etc). I've learned so much from them, so I gave Cosplay a shot again recently. And it became much more fun now that I gained more good friends and now that I discovered my "way of Cosplaying". It's not just wearing a wig and a costume for me, it's more on BEING the character and doing your best to RESEMBLE their Physical appearance and Personality. Keeping that in mind, it's also about enjoying the process of making the costume~ I can't sew the whole Costume, but I ALWAYS make it to a point that there's something I've done myself in each costume(like sewing details and making accessories/props). Details are obviously really important for me, I see to it that I get each detail correctly, since that's what I always see with the great Japanese Cosplayer - - Saya, she's one of my inspiration when I started Cosplaying again. and one last thing, for me, Cosplay isn't really all about competing, it's about enjoying yourself~

A: I haven't really joined any real Cosplay Competitions yet, just joined a Costrip Contest once. I was just in a Cassual Kagamine Rin,then.

Q: Your expectation this 2011?

A: I'm currently on hiatus, but I'm expecting to complete my fixed group Cosplays for this year. We're planning on doing lots of shoots and a PV for High school of the Dead. I also formed a group called Synchroloids, and we'll be Cosplaying Synchronicity by the Vocaloids, and I expect it to be perfect(I became a perfectionist in details since I've seen Saya-san's Cosplays). And also, I expect to complete a huge project for this year, Hatsune Miku's Default Version, I'm collaborating with a friend from school to help me with this, since I'm planning to do this over-Cosplyed Version in a different light.. XD It'll be my first time entering a competition once we complete Miku Default. :D

A: First of all, I'm not just any kind of cosplayer. I'm a person who gives importance for what am I portraying. By the way, I'm Jasmine Dava from Paco, Manila and I'm 17 years of age :)

Q: On your own words, what is cosplay/cosplaying? What inspires you to do cosplay and when did you start cosplaying?

A: For me, cosplaying is not about exposure, it's about life. It's about expressing one self from what you are and who you are. The thing that inspires me to continue cosplaying are my friends who is always there for me. My parents, even though they don't like me to cosplay coz' the only thing that comes out from their mind is "childish thing" and of course my fans who supports me and trust me :)

A: Uhm, it's too many haha! actually I portray different characters with different identity. First on the list is Tifa, The Maid Killer, Maid Sama, Dark Angel, Kigurumi, Freehugs, Yuki Soul Cross. Sometimes I do costrip haha! I think the best cosplay act that I've done is portaying Tifa Lockheart. It's a big shot for me and it's too difficult for me to hide those baby fats! Haha (Just kidding)

Q: Your expectation this 2011?

A: My expectation so far is that the cosplay events should be more organize well and more fun so that not only cosplayers would appreciate it but also the people who is curious about the real meaning of cosplay :)

So far, she's the freshest face that I've featured here and I really like her attitude. I do believe that cosplaying really needs this strong passion and will in order to see how good you're doing. So that explains how this girl manage to do her craft that good with a little bit of fashion touch. So for my verdict, the costumes were quite okay but the portrayal was great. So I want you to do some little bit of research on the costume side and just continue digging some cosplay character that suits you like your Yuki Soul Cross, that's really good for you. Maybe next time, I want to see you portraying one of those girls in Full Metal Alchemist. So here's my 4.25 zenies for the overall act. ^_^

Happy World Bloggers Day - What's your Role as a Blogger?

Just yesterday, I attended the World Bloggers Day event and if you are going to ask me, did I enjoy the event? I would say, "definitely yes". The event was held at SM Cyberzone Cubao and I'm going to mention "Mang Inasal" for our food sponsor. Thank you Mang Inasal! I really love their chicken and if you will buy either of those 3 "PM meals", you will enjoy a "Rice all You Can" deal. Also what's interesting 'bout the venue (SM Cyberzone Cubao) was my first interaction with the Nintendo 3DS at Data Blitz. That's totally drooling. Just wait for me there and I'm going to buy you soon.

Role of a Blogger/ Role of Blogging

We have different interpretation of our role as a blogger. For me, my role to this industry as a cosplayer blogger is to promote cosplay here in the Philippines most especially my topic, our Filipina cosplayers. It started when I saw Alodia Gosiengfiao on a previous ToyCon event. Of course, we all know that she's one of the prettiest faces on the Philippine Cosplay society and for what I think that time, she's the only cosplayer who gives justice to cosplaying but I'm totally wrong. When I left the event, I saw a lot of cosplayers on the line waitin' for their turn to enter the convention and really saw a lot of passion and this will to do their cosplay acts more genuine and unique. That's why I'm here. I'm here because I want to join the campaign to explain what cosplay means to the public especially to the Philippine audience.

As for general blogging role, you must be responsible on what you will write to your blog. As for my advocacy, learn to do an original article/content and this is important, "Blog your Interest". If you're interested on what you're blogging, I guess you will not suffer for this "writer's block". Also this is optional, If you are copying an article, I suggest not to copy all of the contents of a specific blog post. Just include the summary of that said post and 'always' include the source of that article you copied. That's somewhat a rule for copying article but of course, that's not my advocacy.

As I end up this article, I just want to say 'Thanks' to Azrael Coladilla for another "job well done". Again, I don't care 'bout how many are we on that said event. Good morning cosplayers and cosplayer enthusiasts! How's your weekend? Me? I had a great weekend coz' yesterday is our town's fiesta and I'm really full because of the food that we've prepared. Now, I don't want to break that chain of happiness and really consider this pretty Filipina cosplayer. Some people compared her to Alodia Gosiengfiao and I think they have this similarity when it comes to looks but the style is so-so different. I really like the fact that we actually get this cosplayer here in Cosplayer Studio. I don't know her that much so if ever you know her true name, please be free to comment here for her real name. Q: Can you introduce yourself to your fans (Name, Location and your Age)?

A: Okay, I wanted to keep my real name private/hidden but im using a pseudonym which is Arth Lloyd. :) People who knew me personally calls me chacha. & those I met in cons is Arth. I reside at San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. and my age? uh-oh. It's a secret for now. :D

Q: On your own words, what is cosplay/cosplaying? What inspires you to do cosplay and when did you start cosplaying?

A: Cosplay is like a world without Hello Kitty. I'd rather die than to live w/o it. :) Since I was 7, I already love watching animes *who wouldn't anyway?* then when I grow up, I totally got addicted with manga. I have had read over 1000+ titles and I'm proud to say that I still continue to read manga & watch anime up until now. :D

I started cosplaying at October 2010 when a friend of mine invited me to join. :) I was totally got inspired to cosplay when I stalked the DevianArt account of Ms. Jin Joson. ♥ she's so damn great and I was totally moved by her.

Q: Can you enumerate all of the cosplay acts that you have done? As for you, what's your best cosplay act for your entire career?

A: I already cosplayed 3 characters as of now which were

a.) Shana of Shakugan no Shana - my first attempt of cosplay.

b.) Saionji Sekai of School Days - the second one.

c.) Lacus Clyne - the third/current one.

As for my opinion, I think the best cosplay I've done among those three is my Lacus Clyne on which I plan to make a Lacus Clyne Collection of her various outfits. ♥

Q: Your expectation this 2011?

A: Oh well, I really do expect that school wont make me busier this 2011, I really wanted to finish my cosplay plans for this year. :) and of course, I really wanted to meet more friends at the community. :)

I may say, this girl have a potential. I don't have issues when it comes to the costumes and really prop it out but I want her to do is to consider dealing with the portrayal. It's okay if she is a jolly person as you can see on her pictures here but I want to see her on her serious mode. Deal with the costume doll in order to have an effective cosplay act. I'm looking forward to know you more on some convention and maybe (crossing fingers), Cosplayer Studio will consider interviewing cosplayers in person. I almost forgot to toss a zenie(s), I'm giving you 4.25 zenies. ^_^

Hello Cosplayer Studio readers. Kinda disappointed right now, Casey Abrams, my bet in American Idol has been eliminated and that's not cool. Also it's Friday and that's somewhat ease my anger coz' I can have my good night sleep later. Anyway, there's no age barrier when you want to do cosplay as long as you love what you're doing and this next featured cosplayer really break the limitation that cosplaying is not for teens and tweens only. Q: Can you introduce yourself to your fans (Name, Location and your Age)?

A: I'm Loki, I live in Q.C. and my age is a topnotch SECRET! haha... I actually began as a costume maker rather than a cosplayer and I can say, I began to be influenced by my customers to cosplay. A lot of people used to ask me "why make costumes if you can't even wear one yourself?" So that sparked my interest. And from the moment I tried it, I began to feel so overwhelmed with the feeling of cosplaying :) t's my stress reducer... Even if it's really COSTLY... cosplay = costly. >.<

Q: On your own words, what is cosplay/cosplaying? What inspires you to do cosplay and when did you start cosplaying?

A: Cosplay is an art. That is the number one word that pops into my head when I hear it. In cosplay, you can express your creativity especially when you want your cosplay to be detailed and very accurate. Passion fuels this drive so I really do admire people who put their heart into making a kck-ass cosplay. My inspiration to cosplay stems from my passion with designing and sketching. I am a frustrated designer, so I guess managing my own cosplay shop helps me compensate for that matter. I started cosplaying just last year, June Toycon 2010 :)

Q: Can you enumerate all of the cosplay acts that you have done? As for you, what's your best cosplay act for your entire career?

A: Since I'm just starting out, I've done 3 cosplays so far. I still have 3 costumes pending here at home just waiting for a right convention to wear it with. :) My first cosplay is my Ragnarok Online character; an Archbishop [june 2010] second is Uzumaki Kushina "Naruto's mom in Shinobi version" [Xmas ToyCon] and recently is Shizuka Hiou from Vampire Knight. I still have some characters left to cosplay but I can't spill the beans yet... :) My best cosplay act is not ready yet *wink*

Q: Your expectation this 2011?

A: My expectation this year is to meet more people in the cosplay industry :) most especially my all time favorite cosplayer~ Jin Joson :)

I really like the fact that you actually try to cosplay coz' number one, it's a matter of dealing with your own creation and lastly, to make promotions by means of networking when there's a cosplay convention. It's like making a brand out of offline promotion. I'm not doing some verdict here coz' I have this much respect on her craft and really did a plus points for that. Just continue cosplaying and I'm very sure that all of your works were praised by your past consumers. Thank you.

Happy Thursday morning everyone! I hope you'll all have a wonderful day ahead and still I'm here, of course working. Yesterday, I was so disappointed that I've missed the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and that special appearance of Alodia Gosiengfiao. Also I've missed my chance to join the contest, that's to be with the Cosplay Goddess watching Animax "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya". Anyway, feature time once again and what can I say about this Filipina cosplayer? Nothing! (Just kiddin') She already stated all of my introduction on her interview with Cosplayer Studio. ^_^ So here she is, Jamie Sulangsawa A.K.A Hye-Wo Han, our Thursday featured cosplayer.

Q: Can you introduce yourself to your fans (Name, Location and your Age)?

A: Hi! I’m Jamie Sulangsawa, korean name is Hye-Wo Han.. also known as Jamie, Han, Hye and a whole lot of akas and nicknames.. I’m only 17 yrs old && Yes, I know I don’t look my age and currently residing at Sta. Rosa, Lagun.. I’m already in college now, studying in Malayan Colleges Laguna (MAPUA) and taking B.S. Mechanical Engineering.

I’m a korean-chinese & filipino blood.. Im an average kid an average student. Simple (but always in fashion) yet so complicated, moddy, bubbly, extravaggant, weird, kinda unpredictable, fun.. happy.. loving and sweet (oh yah right!) I know my limits in life. Im the type of person whose what-you-see-is-what-you-get type, but you can't see everything though I’m really a happy kid.. Super happy kid but believe it or not, im super sensitive girl (yah that’s true!)..

I love school.. I love my friends, family and esp. God..

I love painting & sketching.. I love cosplay! Believe it or not I’m a cosplayer :) I like singing but im not a good singer.. I do act.. im a DRAMA QUEEN.. xDD

I’m sensitive..I've learned to cry..And crying doesn't mean I'm giving up, It's just a way of letting things out. I'm such a drama queen but i'm not emo! haha! im a happy bug. I am a happy virus and I am very contagious..

I am a true person, I wouldn't lie to you. though I know how to say things the right way. I'd rather be hated for who I am than be loved for who I am not. I am very nice to people who are worth of being treated nice. I don't really care if people call me bitch behind my back. They just don't know me. Or they just can't accept my brutality on opening their eyes to reality.

I am very very random. :] ooohh.. and I like colorful stuffs!XD hearts and teddy bears,rainbows and stars :]

Q: On your own words, what is cosplay/cosplaying? What inspires you to do cosplay and when did you start cosplaying?

A: In my own understanding, Cosplaying can take lots form of performance art, with the cosplayer portraying anime characters and acting, or it may be viewed more generally as a form of artistic expression without a performance aspect. I think that Cosplaying is not the same as dressing up for events like Halloween or masquerade balls, although cosplayers may done their outfits and personas for such events, and it is accompanied by a very distinctive and unique subculture.

I do like attending cosplay convention when I was in 2nd year high school but just a photographer there and by that time I never done portraying some anime characters. Until my beloved friends told me that I should try to portray my favorite anime character or gameplay character than taking pictures with other people, and It’s time to make a big change in my life to express myself and “cuteness” (hmmm?). And yeah! It change me a lot, from a shy type person to a bubbly and expressive person.

Q: Can you enumerate all of the cosplay acts that you have done? As for you, what's your best cosplay act for your entire career?

A: My fisrt cosplay was a lollita playing with violin, Christmas elf from Ragnarok, Yuri from Angel Beats. Soi Fon from Bleach, one of my precious costume because I won People’s choice award in C.I.T week and when I cosplayed Yui Hirasawa from K-ON!, I also got People’s Choice Award in C.A.S week.. And I like doing crossdress too, like Squall from Final Fantasy, but it turns out a girl version because I didn’t wear wig by that time ( I’m sorry for that) and cosplay Male Arch Bishop from Ragnarok.

A: I expect and promise myself this 2011, to portray different monster type characters and more challenging characters. && To meet new friends from cosplay community..

Interesting that she likes cross-dressing and what I really love the archbishop cosplay just because of the costume and really love Ragnarok Online. The Yui Hirasawa portrayal was good but just to complete the Yui package, you must wear brown wig for that one but all in all, it was good. Of course, here's your 4.50 zenies. I'm going to thank Jamie for the trust and also for the response.
