When this belief is so powerful, this expectation is always reached by that individual. With positive thinking many people fear this because they don't want to 'build themselves up' for a big win, only to find that they sink to a greater low, when they lose. This attitude may be influenced by past experience, where a person may have taken many 'knocks' in their lifetime i.e. lose of job, failed relationships or unsuccessful marriages. Therefore, these people have the tendency to always fear the worst outcome of every situation. Every time this negative cycle is reinforced, expectations are lowered and negative outcomes are generated. But we can reverse negative thinking by doing the following;

1) BE AWARE OF YOUR NEGATIVE THOUGHTS Through your day to day life, many opportunities will come your way i.e. a chance to implement some new computer software at work, an invite to a restaurant, a chance to join the gym etc. Many thoughts will pass through your mind, shall I or shan't I? But take time to suppress the negative thoughts and think of them in a new light. With our first example, the advent of some new computer software will be expensive; it will bring about big changes, jobs maybe made redundant, and the system maybe complex and difficult to learn. But the positive aspects of this opportunity include increased efficiency, time saving and an updated IT infrastructure. The second example of a potential invite to a restaurant could mean having to spend money, waste time and missing out on a favourite programme. Or it could mean spending time with a friend, trying a new cuisine and networking with other people. The third example of a chance to join the gym could mean spending more money, being tired, aching muscles or it could mean being fitter and healthier. Positive people will take the opportunities on board and be successful whereas negative people will ignore all the opportunities and will therefore never move forward.

2) BEFRIEND POSTIVE PEOPLE Positive thinking and attitude expressed by people around you is contagious. A simple rule of physics, positive attracts positive and positive repels negative. By attracting positive people, you will find yourself thinking in a new way, seeing the whole picture rather than just one part. You mind will become more receptive to new ideas and hence you can progress further in both work and life.

3) AVOID NEGATIVE PRESS Newspapers and magazines are designed to prey on your worst fears. They sell more material in this way rather than through 'happy' stories. Newspapers and magazines provide people with food for negative thoughts i.e. images of perfect celebrity figures, scandals, affairs, famines. By listening to happy music, watching comedy films or programmes, you will find yourself in a more positive mind frame.

The more positive you are, the more positivity will be generated both within yourself and around you. Positive thinking and being positive provides an energy that can change your whole outcome of life. Therefore it is a power worth harnessing.
Positive people get considerably more from life, they will attract other positive people, they enjoy themselves more, they look on the sunny part of living, and this leads them to have more positive experiences - positivity attracts positivity.

Provided you can develop the abilty to think positively throughout tough circumstances then this can not just lift your state of mind, but it can help transform your life - you may for example discover an opportunity when many people see disaster, and it is typically people who are massively successful whether in business or their personal lives who start to see the opportunity in a problem, or the possible benefits of a bad situation.

Where 99% of the population crumble, these people look for the positive and become successful.

Some individuals appear to have a natural capacity to think positively. They do not ever seem to get upset, they pick themselves up after a fall immediately, and even in the very worst scenarios they seem to accept an undesirable experience and grow from it rather than letting it continue to negatively have an effect on them.
You might ponder exactly how that is possible, you might envy them, or even be envious of their capability to do this. We'll, they're really no different to me or you. The only thing that differs is within their mind; the way in which they think, as well as the way they look at the world. This isn't a built-in ability, but is something which all of us can easily change.

Due to positive early childhood experiences, or the right parental support and encouragement these people have become positive generally. They've naturally developed this kind of capability, nevertheless , you can learn it all the same.

You have the ability to transform your life and reach new heights of success and fulfilment. Whether at this moment in time your attitude is positive, negative or somewhere in the middle you can take control of your life and set yourself free! Everyone has potential, the unfortunate thing is that most people go through life and never realise or take advantage of this!

Firstly you must visualize what you want - you the dreams everyone has - unfortunately most people leave them as just that, dreams. The second thing that you must do is see yourself in your dream environment, and see yourself getting there. I can, I will and when I are the things you must say rather than the negative version I can't, I won't and if I! Don't worry if you fall into a more negative category - the good thing about attitude is that you can learn and train yourself to have a positive one given a bit of time and practice.

You've told yourself that it is going to happen and now must talk about it by doing this you are making yourself accountable and putting yourself under a little pressure to make it happen! If you dream is to be on Millionaire Street and you are currently in debt - you must realise that this dream is not going to happen overnight in may take a few years - you don't go around saying you are going to be a millionaire by next Thursday afternoon in three weeks time! Don't set unrealistic targets otherwise you may put yourself under undue stress and pressure to achieve, which can be detrimental to your cause.

Attitude isn't everything - it is simply the first thing! Remember it's going to be action that actually gets you there and the attitude will determine what pace that will be. You are the architect, the builder and the benefactor of all your life's endeavours. So when something doesn't go your way the first place to look is inwards. You must ask yourself what you could have done differently to have gotten a more favourable result, after this inward analysis is done then you look at some of the external issues that may have been amiss too.
Everyone has their fears; I don't mean things like scared of the dark or spiders etc. I am talking about fears to do with success, for example, it might be something that you haven't learnt to do yet, and you fear that you may fail. Remember that if you don't try you fail anyway, and if you do fail sometimes then success is that much sweeter because you actually had to get over obstacles to get to the end result.

In summary we'll use something interesting to illustrate a point. There are 26 letters in the alphabet, A = 1 and Z = 26 working on that basis we assign a number to each letter of the word attitude and add them up: A(1) + T(20) + T(20) + I(9) + T(20) + U(21) + D(4) + E(5) = 100 - 100% Attitude! Having a positive or optimistic attitude helps you to achieve more for yourself than a negative or pessimistic one. Visualise what you want, take action to make it happen, overcome any fears and keep plugging away, remember that tree that you see in your local park didn't get that big overnight. You can learn to train your mind, and over time you will learn how to develop and maintain a positive attitude.
They go around with such a bearing and such an aura, you are not able to fail to recognize them and conclude that they use their mind power to gain a positive attitude. They have such self-assurance that they can take care of whatever, you cannot help but gravitate towards them. Believing that you can complete a project is constructive thinking. Visualizing, using your mind power, that you already have the achievements in hand can really help you complete any project. Dwelling on your pessimistic beliefs and traits will only take you downwards whereas using the power of your mind for positive thinking will always result in personal growth...

You think you're inadequate, that you don't have the skills or the experience to do the job. Result? During the interview, you don't do eye contact with whoever is interviewing you, this breeds mistrust, mistrust means no job

Take two teams for example who have been called on to give a presentation to a board of directors. The first group are led by an individual who is caught up in self-negativity he can never see a positive outcome and if ever he succeeds in anything he puts it down to luck not skill. This leader gives off an air of negativity which is reflected in his demeanour. The second group is led by a person of positive attitude who gives his team a sense of belonging to a group of winners and achievers. No matter the problem he will always talk it through with the group encouraging them to see the overall picture and a positive outcome to everything they attempt. Who stands the chance of greater success? We all know people who walk around the proverbial rain cloud over their heads and as an opposite those with a smile on their faces surrounded by energising sunshine.

The group led by the positive thinking leader will all experience personal growth with every task they undertake, they will normally get the accolades and there for will expect to succeed more times than the fail. The alternative group will carry their sense of failure back to their homes and will have a negative impact on all those around them Family, friends and work colleagues so that all will have a negative view of this cruel hard world.

In order to get the achievements that you want, use your mind power and positive thinking to gain self improvement turning your positive thoughts into actions. Curb all undesirable thought processes and with mind power always see a successful result never an unsuccessful one.

Some people believe that they only need to try positive thinking on rare occasions, this is simply not true you need to keep positive thoughts in your mind at all times until it becomes a successful habit leading to self improvement and personal growth.

Confused? Do not know where to start? There are many self-help books both on and off line. You can start with goal setting to develop a positive attitude every day of your life, and see the change for the good of all those around you..

Remember the problems your have today will invariably be a distant almost forgotten memory in twelve months time, just as the problems of twelve months ago have faded with the passing of time. Go out with a smile, a positive attitude and look forward to a day full of opportunities for accomplishment and triumph. Use your mind power to develop a positive attitude that will lead you to personal growth and self-improvement.
When do I know I am taking a risk? When I fear the outcome! It is as simple as that. In other words, when I am involuntarily taking risks, I assume that is just my routine. For instance, when I am

1. Riding a cycle, I may fall from it or hit accidentally by others. Still, we do not consciously consider this a risk.

2. Driving a car, in spite of our driving skills, car may breakdown, or car can skid on the muddy road, still we do not generally consider driving a risk. Rather, we consider driving a car a necessity or a need.

3. Walking out in the rain, a thunder bolt may hit any of us. Still we enjoy walking in the rain.

Most of human activities carry risks of something or the other. However, mostly we are not aware of those risks as they are faced every moment of our lives. Our mind is trained to ignore the inner warning bell when we do our routines.

Now, explicitly taking a risk, we are afraid because of unknown factors. We are always afraid of unknowns. You may understand why we are afraid of dark. Because, we don't know what lurks in the darkness; a thug, a snake, a rat, a cockroach and list goes on.

For some, unknown always excites. They are called risk takers, pioneers, for instance. They feel the rush when they think of taking a new risk. They think positive of the outcomes and rewards the risk carries. They possess positive qualities and never afraid of failures and consider each failure a stepping stone to success. They never look back and they make their own class. They think differently, act differently and by doing so, they differentiate themselves from others. They possess high level of self confidence and espouse positive outlook about their lives.

In contrast, those who are afraid of taking risk, they always think the outcome in negative light. They are afraid of facing consequences. Lest, they forget to remember that taking risk has its rewards and only then they can grow beyond their current existence.

Every time we take a risk, we are putting ourselves out of comfort zone. Each such excursion out of our comfort zone teaches us something new. Every time we take action that we fear that will make us stronger and prepares us to take bigger and bolder risks. This is the secret of successful people.

It is always our fears that have driven us to survive and achieve monumental tasks. In addition, fear also prevents us from reaching our full potential. The fear in the form of emotion triggers our bodily mechanisms that make us to act instinctively. Some of the human brave acts surprises, even shocks, our educated minds for what they achieved were thought impossible or improbable.

In summary, reflect on what you are afraid of, and think of reasons why you fear what you fear and take a decision to overcome them one by one. One day you will be glad that you have become a different person by facing your fears. Start thinking, you will know what to do.
It starts with being content and self-assured with the person that you are. A strong self-image radiates love and spirit and the people who are in your company begin to feel a similar way. Having a positive demeanor is a pivotal feature for realizing success in all aspects of your life. Your disposition destines how you approach your life and is reflected in your occupation, business ventures, sporting efforts and relationships.

A winner's attitude is essential for achieving your desires in life. People that we applaud for achieving excellence would not have accomplished their dreams by living their life with a detached disposition. The predominant ingredients for a victorious life are accepting yourself, being able to visualize your success and living with with the right attitude.

A positive attitude produces a buoyant outlook on life. You will feel happier, healthier and more energetic. Your belief in yourself and your talents will be amplified and by taking on an open and positive attitude your mind will be welcoming to the opportunities that will start to come your way. People with a negative attitude often become entirely immersed with their problems and are unable to see the opportunities that are presented to them. Once you teach your mind to automatically undertake a positive attitude your difficulties will not be as significant and you will have the ability to cope with them effortlessly.

Impulsively we are drawn towards the company of positive people. They have the ability to lift our spirits and make us feel good about life. Attitude, whether it's positive of negative, is extremely infectious - choose wisely and spend your time with positive uplifting people and your essence will imitate the same vibration. When you choose to live your life with a positive attitude your spirit will be encircled with a light energy which will magnetically draw people towards you.

Accomplishing your desires is entirely within your power, however, you have to embark on life with a positive attitude and believe that whatever you desire can, and will, be achieved - connect this with a positive attitude and you will be irrepressible. In 1903 a renowned New York engineering professor had said that it would be impossible for man to fly. Two weeks later the Wright Brothers flew the world's first powered airplane. These guys had a definite advantage - they unquestionably believed that their dream was achievable!

Don't let fear of failure hold you back from pursuing your dreams - instead espouse a positive attitude and reach for your goals with faith. We can all learn from the Wright Brothers - anything is possible if you approach your dreams with a positive attitude and believe.
A positive attitude is something sales people work on, practice, sharpen and tune. Attitude breeds attitude, and if you are negative, the other person will be negative. Positive thoughts lead to positive language, and this is the language that sells. Within this positive language there are very powerful words that, if used effectively, are proven to be the words that sell.

It might be said that it is challenging to maintain a positive attitude in these difficult times. Yes, it might be said, but NOT by sales professionals. It has ALWAYS been difficult to keep your positive attitude tuned up. There have always been mountains to climb, storms to survive and challenges to overcome. Who said sales was easy? Keeping yourself positive is part of the role of a sales person.

What is a Positive Attitude?
It is important to know what is meant by a positive attitude. A famous quote by Gibran is - The optimist sees the rose and not its thorns; the pessimist stares at the thorns, oblivious to the rose. A person who looks for the rose, will see the rose, and will TALK about the rose. A person who looks for the thorns will see so many of them that they will be overwhelmed!
But, you say, it is important to see the thorns, otherwise you will get hurt! This is quite true. A more powerful thought that helps define positive attitude for sales people is adapted from a Maxwell quotation -

The pessimist complains about the wind.
The optimist expects it to change.
The Sailor adjusts the sails.

The sales person is like the professional Sailor. The sales person looks at the current situation, whatever it is, and they find ways to steer the sale to a successful outcome. Positive attitude sends them on a constant search to find out HOW to steer the ship through the storm, how to smell the rose without being hurt by the thorns, and how to sell THEIR products to THIS prospect.

Words that Sell
Positive language will have a more positive effect on the prospect, so avoid negative language like the plague! Talk about what your products and services CAN DO rather than what they can't do. In addition to this basic principle, there are other words that Sales people have collected over the years that are proven to work in a sales situation, the words that sell.
These words are words that sound attractive and positive to most people, and they like hearing them. We don't always know why this is, but the fact is that they are words that work. All good sales people will prepare their benefits using these words, and will practice using them effectively.

The first 3 of these words that sell are BENEFIT, VALUE and YOU. These words are absolutely critical to putting across your offering positively. We talk about the value of the products or service to you and your business. The word you is a powerful word, use it often - the value of this to you, what this means to you is, or the benefit of this to you and so on.
As well as talking about the benefits, if you actually use the word 'benefit' you will ensure your benefit becomes relevant to this Customer. This is a full list of the words that sell -

1. Benefit
2. Value
3. Safe
4. Proven
5. Save
6. Guarantee
7. Best
8. Love
9. New
10. Happy
11. Maximise
12. Special
13. Option
14. Easy

You may be upset and confused after a breakup but that does not mean you are not willing to get over those feelings if you can get your ex back and reconcile with him or her. If you are asking yourself "How can I get my ex back?", keep reading. The following information will help you. You need to know what your reaction should be to a breakup so that you can avoid putting more stress on the relationship and ruining your chances of getting your ex back.

Maintain a Good Attitude
It will be a struggle to have a good attitude right after a breakup but many experts on relationships believe that having a confident attitude and being optimistic is the best thing to do. Having a confident attitude can help you get your ex back.

Be Confident
If you're asking "How can I get my ex back?", then confidence is the key. Don't sit around moping and feeling sorry for yourself. Keep yourself busy with activities you enjoy because this will boost your confidence. Don't show that you are depressed. Let your ex see you being strong and having a confident attitude so he or she realizes you are able to cope with difficult situations like the break up. This will also show your ex that you can survive just fine without him or her.

Socialize
Get out there and socialize. If you are intent on getting your ex back, you should spend time with loved ones who care about you. Let your ex see that you have people who care about you, love you, and enjoy spending time with you. When you show your ex how you are making a positive impact on the lives of others, he or she is going to look at you differently. Your ex is going to see what a good person you are and realize he or she doesn't want to lose you. This is a great way to let your ex see you in a different way then he or she has in the past.

Keep Looking Good
Another solution to "How can I get my ex back?" is to keep your looks up. Don't let your sadness show in your face. Focus on the way you look from your hair to your skin to the clothing you wear. Don't use your breakup as an excuse to stop caring about the way you look. Be well-groomed and look your best in and out of the public eye. It can be a struggle to keep yourself together after a breakup but doing so tells your ex that you are great even if you are now alone. Your ex is going to wonder why you are doing so well without him or her, and this may help you reconcile in a mature way so you can get your relationship back on track.
In order for other areas of your life to work in harmony, the mind has to be in a receptive mood and state. This can be easily done by putting your mind in a positive alert state which is normally accompanied by a great desired attitude that is ready for change. This state can be accelerated by using meditation, affirmations, vision boards and other mind tools. They work by reaching the subconscious mind that is responsible for what and how lives are are run whether through positive thinking or negative thinking. Some of the advantages of thinking positively are noted below:

Increased inner joy: Positive thinking creates inner happiness that is not necessarily dependent on the outer circumstances of our lives. In this state of mind you constantly see things differently and you tend to bring joy to situations you would not have before. Your heart starts filling up with compassion and you start sending out love and understanding especially if you meditate. This inner joy spurs you on to do things both materially and spiritually you have never thought you could do even through positive thinking.

Open minded: In the right positive thinking state you will be guided to greater things as your mind is not judgemental and restricted in many ways. Opportunities start to present themselves and you will be able to notice and act upon them easily, quickly and effectively. An open minded person lets inner wisdom guide them to decisions and actions rather than the outer circumstances. That's why you are advised not to watch news, films, and soaps in your early stages of changing the way you think. This is to minimise the impact from all the negative media and other outlets. Should you carry on watching TV or listening to un resourceful material; positive thinking will become a battle.

Easily take action: In a positive thinking state of mind, you easily act upon decisions that would have baffled you before. This is because you start using FAITH which is a great antidote to FEAR. Fear cripples us in the wrong mind states and that's how we tend to put things off constantly because of fear of the unknown. In faith you know you are guided and that you are not alone: if you fail you do not blame yourself but find ways to learn lessons from failure and move on. It is only a positive thinking mindset that can will you to greater success coupled with a brilliant attitude.

Easily drop things that do not serve you: Positive thinking will enhance your growth by changing the things that are not favourable to the type of person you have become. If it were a circle of friends, they begin to fall away and what originally attracted them to you changes. You begin to make new relationships that are compatible to who you have become. This association with the right people increases your ability and chances of manifesting the things you desired before. In line with positive thinking you begin to become more aware and conscious of your environment and the people around you.

Positive thinking is the basic principle on which we should all live our lives in order to be more coherent and aware. In order to improve the way you think work has to be done on the mind. We will start making bad judgement calls and will hesitate to act when faced with a challenge. Instead of seizing and making the most of an opportunity, we will allow it to slip through our fingers, while the rest of the world moves on, oblivious of our inner turmoil. Emotions like anxiety, jealousy and regret, which are all based on fear, not only will affect you physically but will also have a tremendous negative impact on how you live your life. Undertaking a personal development course of some sort will benefit you immensely. It will focus on cementing beneficial behaviours, while also helping eliminate those traits which hold you back. You will experience an overall increase in well-being as your emotions, thoughts, beliefs and actions are all interlinked. So, here are a few things you can do to maintain a positive thinking outlook:

Set some goals
To achieve long-term success, you need to have long-term, mid-term and short-term goals. A long-term goal if you're a non-swimmer for example, might be to swim a mile and raise money for your favourite charity. Clearly, that's going to take a while to be able to achieve that! So, it's important you have something to aim at you can achieve in a shorter timescale. Your mid-term goal might be to complete ten lengths at your local swimming baths. Your short-term goal could be swimming half a length. Then as you reach each of these targets, reward yourself for getting there. This will help maintain your motivation and positive thinking attitude.

Have self-belief
This is an absolute must-have. You cannot reach your goals if you don't believe in yourself. Look around. You'll see that those people who achieve are those who believe they can. To help self-belief, visualise achieving your goal. Close your eyes. Using the swimming analogy, feel the resistance of the water as you carve your arms through it. Hear the splashing as your legs kick. Make it as real in your mind as you can. Include as much detail as you can; what you are wearing, is the water warm or cold, how hard are you breathing, what sounds can you hear, and so on. Then smile as you reach the finish line. Feel the intense sense of satisfaction and pleasure that comes with it. Feels good, doesn't it?

Know your worth
Say only good things about yourself. Be your own best friend. Don't berate yourself when you make a mistake, like so many people do. Criticising yourself achieves nothing. Tell yourself what you're good at. If you catch yourself saying something negative to yourself, stop. Using positive thinking, turn that comment into an encouraging one. For example, if you have just tripped over something you didn't see, instead of muttering "I am so clumsy", change that to "whoops, I didn't see that but next time I will and I will avoid it".

Have an action plan
This must be written down, detailing what steps you taking, day by day to achieve your goals. Remember to include your reward days! Obviously, this must be tailored to suit you, not based on what other people say you should do. If you are being mentored, of course take into account your mentor's advice. Doing this shows you that you intend to control your own life and is another tool to help develop a permanent positive thinking mentality.

Maintain a journal
This links in to your action plan. At the end of each day you note down how much progress you have made towards your nearest goal. You might also find it useful to note down the feelings you experienced while doing particular things. Were they helping you in your efforts or not? If not, think about what you want to feel when doing that task. Use the visualisation technique to help you achieve it. Maintaining a daily record of your progress and continuing to look back over it will help cement you into a positive mind-set. Of course, you must be honest with yourself. Don't write that you did something if you didn't and don't make excuses either. You might fool others but you cannot fool yourself.

So, there are a few valuable, workable ideas for you to try. If you use them properly, you will soon find that positive thinking will help you achieve the things you truly want. Good luck...actually, you don't need luck!
They know that people want encouragement and do not want chastisement, so they pander to the former and ignore the latter. The problem with such "positive thinking" is that its criteria for evaluation is not the content of a particular thought or idea, but one's own feelings about it. It is based upon a purely subjective criteria and tends to eliminate any thought or idea with which one is uncomfortable. In short, positive thinking is not based upon objective reality, but upon one's own subjective desires and feelings.

In contrast, Paul tells the Corinthians that he will not praise them with regard to certain aspects of their coming together for worship. Inasmuch as they imitate Paul, he does praise them. However, in certain aspects of worship they have not imitated him but have indulged their own selfish concerns. Calvin hit the nail on the head when he said of this verse, "that they were not of one accord as becomes Christians, but every one was so much taken up with his own interests, that he was not prepared to accommodate himself to others."

Paul went on to say that they did not gather "for the better but for the worse" (1 Corinthians 11:17). The gathering together of selfishness magnifies selfishness, just as the gathering together of selflessness magnifies selflessness. In other words, their attitude -- that complex union of beliefs, feelings and values that each of us bring to all that we do -- was not in proper alignment with Christ. Something was wrong with their worship. An unchristian attitude was undermining their worship.

An instructive definition of the word "attitude" pertains to flying aircraft. The attitude of the plane is its position in three dimensional space relative to a frame of reference, usually the horizon. The point is that the attitude of the craft indicates its position regarding a frame of reference. Applied to people, a person's attitude is that complex union of beliefs, feelings and values that are derived from the person's frame of reference, from God who is our ultimate frame of reference. Thus, attitude is always an expression of one's faith, one's faithfulness or faithlessness, where faith is understood to be an expression of one's position with regard to Jesus Christ. Our attitude is a reflection of our beliefs, feelings, values and disposition to act in certain ways. The way that we act is the fruit of our attitude. All of this is to say that attitude is a spiritual matter.

Paul notes that when the Corinthians gathered together as the church there were divisions among them, or so Paul was told. Someone noted divisions among the Corinthians and reported that observation to Paul. Was it true? Paul thought that it was, at least in part. I would even speculate that Paul hoped that it was true because Paul knew that the Corinthians were guilty of immorality and apostasy -- at least some of them were. So, if there were divisions among them, then perhaps all of them were not guilty. I imagine that some of the leaders had fallen from grace, yet a group of believers continued in faithfulness. Thus, the divisions in the church were for Paul a mark of hopefulness.

This insight comes from reading verse 19 back in to verse 18. Verse 19 reads, "there must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized." This is a very interesting verse because it suggests that, while Christians are to seek unity among believers, the churches will always have various kinds of divisions, schisms and heresies because God uses those divisions to grow and sanctify His people, to help them grow in faithfulness and understanding. This suggests that, while identifying schism and heresy are important matters, the process of such identification cannot -- should not -- be shut down by banning the discussion of various perspectives within the churches.

No one enters into Christian faith as an orthodox believer. We are all guilty of sin and are inadequate to the task that Christ has called us to. We cannot be Christians in and of ourselves, but must rely upon the presence and power of the Holy Spirit through regeneration and lean upon the witnesses of history. In addition, no one reaches perfect sanctification in this life, which means that we continue to grow as Christians all our lives. And Christian growth is a double edged process. We grow "until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes" (Ephesians 4:13-14). We grow in faith and obedience that leads to ever increasing maturity. Because life in Christ is eternal, growth in Christ is also eternal.

The other edge of Christian growth and maturity involves the process of disillusionment. In Christ we are increasingly disillusioned of our sins, errors and false ideas. J.C. Ryle said, "The man whose soul is 'growing,' feels his own sinfulness and unworthiness more every year. He is ready to say with Job, 'I am vile,' and with Abraham, I am 'dust and ashes,' and with Jacob, 'I am not worthy of the least of all Thy mercies,' and with David, 'I am a worm,' and with Isaiah, 'I am a man of unclean lips,' and with Peter, 'I am a sinful man, O Lord' (Job xl. 4; Gen. xviii. 27; xxxii. 10; Ps. xxii. 6; Isa. vi. 5; Luke v. 8.)."

Growth in grace produces an increased sensitivity and repulsion to sin, particularly one's own sin. The more people grow in grace, in faithfulness and obedience to Christ, the more they are aware of and disgusted by sin. I suspect that this is part of the generation gap that seems to exist perennially between the young and the old. The process of Christian growth is the process of stripping us of our illusions and false ideas until we come to full agreement with God's perfect knowledge.

Consequently, it is not enough to ban thinking, reading or discussion of aberrant theological views in the church. Everyone comes to Christ with all sorts of spiritual illusions and false ideas. It is not true that people are instantly stripped of all their false ideas upon regeneration. Rather the disillusionment process begins with regeneration as we see that we have been wrong in various ways and willingly acknowledge our errors and repent of our sin. However, that is not the end of the process. It is the beginning.

The job of church elders, then, is to engage people in theological discussion in a way and manner that convinces people of God's truth, not merely tagging various arguments as schismatic or heretical, but by providing convincing arguments that eliminate lingering false ideas in the minds of believers. Those who cling to their false ideas and beliefs in the face of God's truth will leave the congregation either from a lack of support or from the suggestion or request of the elders. God's Word always draws the faithful and repels the unfaithful through theological clarification.

The process of sanctification through discussion and clarification plays an important role in the life of the church. A lively, healthy church will not refuse to discuss aberrant ideas and/or theologies among its members, but will eagerly engage and defeat such ideas -- not by bullying those who believe wrongly, nor by the use of power politics to shut them down, but by the superior arguments of God's truth, and with patience, perseverance, discipline, wisdom, discernment and instruction (Psalm 86:11).

The goal of reaching perfect sanctification in Christ cannot be reached apart from the process of growth that leads to it. To short-circuit the process for fear of where it may lead evidences a failure of faith in the power of Christ to persevere with His people and to bring them into all truth.

That's why working on your attitude daily and having a positive impact on your organization, customers, and colleagues is so important to your future employability.

Unfortunately, when asked to define a positive attitude, many employers find it difficult to put into words what they mean. Instead, they use words like "happy" and "enjoyable to be around" when describing a person with a positive attitude. Since our attitude affects our behavior, which in turn is demonstrated by our performance, it's no wonder that attitude is so important in the business world. It determines how we do our jobs.

Some employees may resist this notion, believing that no one has the right to tell them how to think. This is correct. Employers do not have the right to evaluate our inner thoughts and feelings. However, they do have the right to evaluate how we behave as a result of those thoughts and feelings.

Employers and organizations also have the right to expect that an employee's behavior and performance will have a positive impact upon their organization. Why? All would agree that an organization comprised of employees who have a negative influence on their customers and co-workers will not be in business for very long. But organizations whose employees have a positive impact on their co-workers, their customers, and their company will enjoy many years of success.

Separate Attitudes from Actions
Is it possible to display a positive attitude even if you're feeling sad, depressed, or angry? Of course. Employees constantly find themselves in situations where they simply cannot let their internal feelings influence their actions. Put yourself in these situations. Would you like your surgeon to be all thumbs because he was upset with his wife? Or a fireman to drive slowly when you called in an alarm because he was tired? How about your lawyer didn't feel well so she didn't argue your case as best she could? What is you took your child swimming and the lifeguard was daydreaming about getting a new job instead of paying attention while your child was swimming? These people are required to behave in a certain, prescribed way regardless of their attitude. And we certainly expect them to do that-no matter what.

But how do you stay enthusiastic and excited about your job if you've been at it for a while and things at work or at home are not going perfectly? Remember, when actors are on stage, they know they must be so good at what they do that their performance will set them apart from the rest of the cast and make them memorable. No matter how famous and successful an actor may be, he or she is always aware of an understudy waiting in the wings, eager to take over the role the moment that actor begins to deliver a performance that is less than top quality.

In today's world of downsizing and layoffs, we all have understudies-people who would love to take our place and play the part the job requires. To remain employable, you must make sure you are one of your organization's "star performers." Your customers also have the right to a star performance because they are your audience. After all, that's really what your paycheck is: a reward for playing your part well. Can your organization count on you, as a professional, to be a star performer?

Now, this doesn't mean you should be phony or just go through the mechanical motions of acting out your part. No employer wants an office full of robots, but they also don't want people who bring their negative feelings to work every day. Think of what a different workplace we could create if everyone came to work and focused on the job at hand instead of allowing our internal attitudes to affect our performance.

To Stay Positive, Avoid Negative People
Is attitude, whether positive or negative, contagious? You bet! From your own experience, think about how you feel when you have to work with a negative person. Do you remember times when someone else's negativity influenced your own performance that day? Even though you may love your job and you're proud of the products and services you deliver, you probably felt that you and your organization weren't doing their best. And if you had to work with a negative person for a long period of time, their poor attitude may have even made you want to quit your job. That's the power a negative attitude can have on us.

If you have to work with negative people, try to limit additional interactions. You are not obligated to carpool with them, go to lunch with them, or spend time with them after work. Part of your responsibility as a professional is to be the kind of employee that others are not trying to get away from, but rather, to be a positive person with whom they enjoy working and seek out.

With two thousand to three thousand people losing their jobs every day, now is not the best time to be perceived as having a negative attitude, so avoid those people who can cast that shadow on you. If you're going to become a positive influence on your co-workers and customers, you must take time to evaluate your interactions with others and their effects on your organization as a whole.

Your Positive Attitude is Your Best Motivation
You may not realize it, but your performance has the power to make or break your organization. Your attitude can be your greatest asset or your greatest liability. Unaware of that, employees often say, "My job is hard work. And my organization doesn't even try to motivate me to do my best." Today's organizations realize that it is not their responsibility to motivate employees because motivation cannot come from the outside. Motivation is "an inside job." This means that employees should not have to be coddled or coerced into working hard and doing an excellent job. A valuable employee, the kind an organization would work hard to hire and retain, is self-motivated.

The bottom line is that today's employers are looking for employees who:

Want to work.

Enjoy what they do.

Take pride in their organization, their products, and their services.

Care about their customers and their co-workers.

Are the kinds of team player others like to be around.

Make work a better place by their good humor, dependability, integrity, and their ability to be a positive influence through their words and actions.

And finally, consider this: employers from all over the country believe that attitude is contagious. If that's so, is yours worth catching?

To stay employed, analyze your attitude and determine whether or not you're helping to create a healthy work environment. Do whatever possible to stand out from the rest and be easily recognized as an employee who has a positive influence on your customers, your colleagues, and your organization. By loving your job and playing your part well, your efforts will be rewarded with years of steady employment.

Do you know of someone that up until a couple of cycles ago hated their job and ought to not stand "The Boss"? You know the boss; the idiot, (he or she) the one with a personality of a shutdown TV. Talk to that same inhabitant today yet and you am able to probably earn they have a different answer. Like, you knew the boss is really unique once you get to know him or her and the job, well it really is not such a bad, and especially I like my work! Success Change

What has changed? Their attitude of course has changed, but why? In this scenario, the economy has drastically changed, companies are downsizing, layoffs are happening and workers are afraid of loosing their employment. It is unfortunately that a change of attitude will only take place when a personal situation changes or is threatened. Like in this case the fear of loosing their job.

When you stop and think about everyone you know who is very successful because they all possess one very common trait; a positive attitude, a can do and will do attitude. He or she is the person that knows that winners never quit and quitters never win and that everyone has a choice. So why don't we all have positive winning attitude? Success Change

Actually we all have had this winning attitude at one time or another. Just think back for a moment in time when you really wanted something, anything, a bicycle, other product, a job or that special person you were smitten with. Well did you get it? Sure you did because you would not stop until you did. You were obsessed, nothing was going to stop you, because it's all you thought about. Success Change

Sometimes we forget just how we achieved these successes and need to be reminded, it should not have to take a recession or tragedy in order for us to make this change. Just like a health or businesses check up, we need to do a personal check up. We need to stop and look at where we are now in our life (personally, career wise, health and financially) and ask ourselves are we happy and satisfied or do we need to make some changes? The clock doesn't stop ticking because you looked in the mirror and didn't like what you were looking at.

Are you happy with yourself? Are you ok with the changes that have started manifesting in your body, with your health?

Are you starting to look at growing older as a bad thing?

I certainly hope not because there are lots of things to look forward to!

Of course, one of the first things everyone mentions, and they giggle as they say it, are the DISCOUNTS! Yes, we are a materialistic society, aren't we, when we think of saving money as a perk that the older set gets to have and the younger ones don't. You get to go out to eat and get a discount! How cool is that!

My kids when they were younger came up with this next one (from the mouths of babes), you get to ride around in those motorized carts that all the big stores have for those who have disabilities or have a hard time getting around! I have 3 sons and they were so impressed when they were younger that older people get to ride in those any time they go shopping. One of my sons actually told a mature person riding in a motorized cart that he wanted to be like them when he grew up! Talk about make that person's day, we all had a good laugh about it.

Most mature people aren't clocking in for their paycheck anymore. It now comes by mail on a regular basis.

You can cut to the front of the bathroom line and no one will complain because they know you need it more than they do! This is HUGE! The times I can think of when I wished I could have done that!

You don't have to look for a parking spot at a busy mall or store at Holiday time, you have one available right there in the front! Big WOW!

If you are a grandparent, you get to do all the things with your grandkids that you didn't do with your own kids (you know, the drum sets and noisemakers!)(dessert before dinner?) This drives their parents batty which in turn makes you laugh more and louder! Feels good, doesn't it?

How about the ability you've crafted through the years to send out that laser look? You know, that look that can stop a kid in their tracks or make a smart adult look around wondering what they did wrong and thinking they are in trouble? Isn't it fun targeting a person with one of those when they didn't do anything just to see what they'll do afterwards?

OK, I've probably made you laugh on some of these or at least smiled, but what I really wanted to do was make you think about the good things in life, whether you are older or not.

Feeling good about yourself and enjoying life, no matter what age, is a matter of choice!

It's YOUR CHOICE to make yourself look for positives in every situation or let life get you down and be miserable.

Hey, you may not be as agile and nimble as you once were, but the life experience you've gained, the knowledge that you have at your fingertips is something that no one can take away from you. That's valuable.

And the value isn't only for you, but for your loved ones and friends that you share that experience, that knowledge, that wisdom with.

Don't forget that smart people don't see with their eyes as much as they see with their hearts.

When you live your life by being positive, people will see your heart, not the wrinkles.

According to the Law of Attraction, we are all creators, attracting into our lives whatever we focus on - whether we want it or not. In order to become a deliberate creator and attract what you do want rather than what you don't want, a good place to start is by choosing a positive mental attitude. With a positive mental attitude, you can attract whatever you desire - including financial abundance, joyous relationships and paradise health.

Attitude is Everything. Attitude is defined as a complex mental state involving beliefs, feelings, values and dispositions to act in certain ways. Attitude is a habit of thought, such as Life is hard or Life is fun. According to the Law of Attraction, our patterns of thought act as powerful attractors. Do you have limiting beliefs such as I can't / I'm not worthy / Nothing ever works out for me? Basically, any belief, thought, or attitude that restricts or disempowers you - any thought that feels bad when you think it - is blocking the natural flow of Well-Being that would otherwise be yours. As you uncover attitudes that are not serving your highest good, you can consciously choose thoughts that contribute to your happiness rather than undermine it. Our lives are expanded or limited by our attitude of what we believe is possible or not possible. My ten-year old neighbor loves the expression - It could happen! Without the slightest understanding of the Law of Attraction, he is transmitting good feeling vibrations and attracting good feeling circumstances. A shift in attitude about how life works transforms everything.

You Can Choose Your Attitude. Did you know that you can choose how you feel and what you believe? You decide whether to see your world as full or empty, positive or negative. Anything can be viewed as positive. Do you remember Pollyanna from the classic children's book or the Walt Disney movie? Pollyanna is a young girl who is adopted by her aunt after her father dies. As an orphan, she could have easily given in to sadness and negativity. However, she is determined to see the good side of everything. Through her relentless attitude of joy and positive expectation, Pollyanna transforms a dispirited town into a pleasant and healthy place. The lesson here is that, no matter what your situation, you can always find positive aspects by choosing to be cheerful and optimistic.

At the end of the book, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Chris asks his Dad if it's hard to take care of a motorcycle. Dad responds - Not if you have the right attitude. It's having the right attitude that's hard. Ah, yes - Attitude is Everything! Well, happily, as we choose Feel Good Thoughts over Feel Bad Thoughts, it gets easier to have the right attitude. With a positive mental attitude, Life is no longer hard. Life is FUN!

If you want to be a successful person, then your attitude needs to be wholly geared towards success.

Phrases such as "We are the masters of our own destiny" and "We are the bringers of our own fate" are also familiar to most, but they have remained very much in the abstract, all a little bit 'airy fairy', due to the relative impossibility to 'see' the effects that our thoughts have on our lives.

That is until now, as advances in the fields of medicine and quantum physics have now enabled us to 'see' and 'measure' in absolute terms, the effects that emotions have on the physical body.

An experiment was undertaken recently, by the HeartMath Institute, that looked at how DNA responded to having feelings of anger, stress, love and peace directed it. The results make for interesting reading.

The DNA was found to tighten and emit light when feelings of anger or stress were directed at it. The effect was reversed when feelings of love or peace were directed at it, as the DNA opened up and attracted light towards it.

If we are to believe the findings of quantum physics, that everything in the universe is simply energy, vibrating at a certain frequency, then this makes perfect sense. So, how can this help you you?

Well, the results of the experiment show that how you feel effects the life and energy that surrounds you. By being more positive and relaxed, the more open and responsive those surrounding you will be.
Indeed there are very few situations in life where a lack of confidence is considered to be an advantage. It is through confidence that we manage to assert ourselves on the world. However, you may be surprised to learn that such a crucial part of our personality has had very little research made into it. If you stop and think about it for a second, if we are to develop an understanding about what makes us tick then knowing about the things that affect our confidence are vitally important.

The world you live in is obviously going to be a major impact on your level of confidence. Of course in our modern fast paced world there are many factors that affect our confidence levels. Anyone who tells you that they are "their own person" is not being strictly true. The truth is that we react to the world around us according to the belief we have in ourselves and this self belief comes through the gaining of knowledge. For instance, if you think of your first day in a new job; to begin with you were likely to have been hesitant, unsure, looking for guidance and confirmation from others that you are doing the right thing. Fast forward six months later and think of the difference in outlook and attitude. You have grown into the role and you are more assertive because you have gained the necessary knowledge to complete your tasks according to a set standard. In short, you have become confident because you now believe in your ability to get the job done as you have gained knowledge about the job and what is expected of you. Now you might think confidence gained in one area of your life can not be applied to all areas. This is a common misconception because it fails to grasp the principles of gaining confidence.

Let's think about where confidence comes from. Like most of our personality, confidence seems to stem from our biological make up and our experiences in childhood. In the same way that some children seem to be born to be top golfers or footballers, others are naturally pre disposed to being confident, out going people. Yet there are also many many things that impact on our levels of confidence throughout childhood. Parents can be a major contributor towards us acquiring confidence. Good parenting should be about teaching their child how to explore their own individual potential. Unfortunately, some parents do quite the opposite, perhaps with good intentions but often with disastrous consequences for the child's future development and level of confidence. Rather than examining and developing their child's potential they instead concentrate on their negative limitations. By focusing directly on the negative aspects of their child's personality, to the extent that they overshadow everything else, the child can grow up with little self belief or confidence.

Another key contributor to our personalities and levels of confidence is our experiences in school. Many people, who have an unhappy childhood, do so due to their experiences in the play ground and the classroom. As a child, being accepted by our peers is vitally important to growing up with a positive attitude, believing in our abilities which both have a major impact on our levels of confidence. Then of course there is the role of the mass media and advertising but this is a little different to what we have discussed before. As a society we are addicted to buying things that we believe will make us a better person or will make us look and feel good and more confident. Often an advertisement will link a certain brand with a celebrity media or sporting personality suggesting that if you buy the particular brand or product you will become a little like that person. For decades, marketing folk have been aware of the power of linking a brand with a celebrity with the idea that it will instil confidence. This tactic is not actually selling confidence but exploiting the lack of it. A distinction we should all remember the next time we are out shopping!

These are just some of the ways confidence and our ideas of confidence are formed. If you are not a very confident person then perhaps you have some things in common with the examples looked at here. Examining the how and the why you are not confident will put you on the first step to overcoming your lack in confidence, rather than just accepting it as "part of who you are". After all you cannot see where you are going in a dark room unless you put the light on first!
Their performance and attitude can result in the success or failure of your business. The most difficult part of any manager's job is people management. He or she is required to lead, motivate, train, inspire, and encourage. On the other hand, he or she is also responsible for hiring, firing, disciplining, training and evaluating. These functions seem to be at odds, but a successful manager can integrate both the positive and negative aspects of these tasks to create a positive, productive work force.

People management, also known as human resource management (HRM), encompasses the tasks of recruitment, management, and providing ongoing support and direction for the employees of an organization. These tasks can include the following: compensation, hiring, performance management, organization development, safety, wellness, benefits, employee motivation, communication, administration, and training.

When managing the people within an organization, a manager must focus on both hiring the right people and then getting the most out of these people. New personnel must provide the organization with the best talent available that meets the needs of the business. The organization must look ahead to how a new employee can be used to their fullest. Getting the most out of an employee means a business has consistent policies and practices in place to provide its people with appropriate training and development. Employees are involved as "partners" in the business.

Probably the most important task a manager will face when dealing with the people under his direction is that of bringing out the best in them. Unlocking people potential is often seen as the key to any business's success. When an employee's talents are not channeled correctly, their behavior can seriously compromise the success of an organization. Some of the roles that an employee who is not being used to his potential can take on are as follows: procrastinator, martyr, gossip, manipulator, backstabber, narcissist, a deer in the headlights, black hole, stonewalled, curmudgeon, bully, and predator.

Instead of dealing with employees that develop defense mechanisms to mask their dissatisfaction with their work situation, let's look as some ways to encourage effective behavior at work. After a problem behavior has been identified, address the employee immediately. Discuss taking responsibility for the ineffective behavior, how the behavior manifests itself, and the effect the behavior is having on the organization. Next, give the employee alternatives to his current behavior. In other words, teach him or her how the principles of achievement:

* cooperation * respect * self-motivation * trust * self-discipline
Now that the employee has alternatives to their current behavior, draw up a performance improvement contract in which he or she agrees to specific actions to change his or her ineffective behavior. After the contract is signed, a manager needs to stay involved and committed to the process of change. He or she cannot assume that the problem will be automatically fixed now that it has been brought to light. The employee will require praise and reinforcement of any progress that they are able to make. If positive change is to occur, it will be evident soon after the initial confrontation. If this does not occur, a termination meeting must be scheduled quickly. One employee's toxic behavior can quickly spread throughout an organization if it is not dealt with quickly and efficiently.

When evaluating an organization's workforce, there are several areas that must be addressed. First, the staff must have the tools and resources that they need to do their jobs effectively. Employees cannot be blamed for an organization's inefficiency if they are not provided with the equipment necessary to perform adequately. Next, get to know each employee as an individual and make sure that they are aware of their specific role within the organization. Clarify their responsibilities and goals. Also, involve each employee in making decisions which affect their area of expertise. This will result in the employee feeling that they "have a say" in what goes on in the organization and he or she will feel a sense of ownership. Finally, make sure that employees have an opportunity to have fun with their coworkers at appropriate times.

People Empowerment can be a very effective tool within the field of people management. This technique can be used to involve employees in any improvement program within an organization. Authority, accountability, and responsibility are delegated to the employees for improving the processes which are under their control without first having to obtain permission from management before making changes. This can be successful only when employees are recognized, congratulated, and rewarded for their commitment to problem solving.
Each time you turn on the television, the newscasters give you unlimited reasons to think poor thoughts. However, it is necessary that you try to change your attitude for the better.

An optimistic attitude is necessary for goal achievement. Constant negativity often lead to discouragement and depression; both of which will deprive you of the energy you need to get anywhere in life.

By practicing awareness of your thoughts, you can recognize when there is a problem and take action to correct it. For example, when you realize you are thinking pessimistic thoughts, you can start thinking optimistic ones instead.

Negative thoughts summon other negative thoughts. Therefore, it is important to halt your thoughts when you realize you're thinking negatively. If you don't, your mind will fill up with more and more poor thoughts until you're full of despair. Interrupt the flow with a life affirming quote or a positive prayer that will help you think more positively.

You can get rid of poor thoughts by having fun. Go out with friends to see a funny movie or spend time with people whose company you enjoy. You won't be able to think negatively because you'll be too busy laughing and having a good time. It's hard to feel down in the dumps when you are surrounded by love and happiness.
It is possible to eliminate negative thinking as long as you are willing to continuously monitor your thoughts. It is the only way to stop pessimistic thoughts before they take over your mind. After a few months of practice, thinking positive thoughts will become second nature and you'll have developed the positive attitude needed to advance in your goals.
