Personally the book offers as to think about the life that we have. It opens something that everyone that relate to – that we always want to have something and the problem of discrimination. In the case of Tessa, she wants to have a family that loves her and the fact that being a Variant, she was rejected by her own other and feared by people that happen to witness her ability .

After reading this book, there some questions that should be addressed:

If you are given a chance to have the life of others that you want for yourself, would you take the chance? If yes, would you live it completely? Knowing that it is all a lie and forget the live that you know.
Are you a victim of discrimination? How did you overcome it? Did you get support?

A Shade of Vampire

I was lucky enough to get a copy of the book directly from the author herself. I am a fan of the paranormal genre. So I am a bit picky when it comes to reading books in the genre especially for books with vampires on it. So here comes my review :)

The story does have a sound start when I came to introducing the story; following the adventures of Sofia Claremont after she was kidnap by vampire. What I think the book lack is to keep my attention to the adventure or the everyday life of Sofia while she is captive of the vampires and not just focus on her love life. I want more balance between the romance and the adventure.

These is a brief description of the book :)

On the evening of Sofia Claremont's seventeenth birthday, she is sucked
into a nightmare from which she cannot wake.
A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a
dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood.

She is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to

I was just surfing the net looking for more information, articles and gossip about the Fifty Shades of Gray movie adaptation from the best selling novel by E.L. James. Hey, better late than never! I came by a youtube video of the interview of Ian Somerhalder by Ryan Seacrest. For the whole interview, here is the link. I really like for Ian to play the role of Christian Grey, the mercurial leading man of the Fifty Shades Trilogy.

While searching, my interest in Vampire Dairies was rekindled my interest in Vampire Diaries, a television adaptation of the young adult novel of L.J. Smith, where Ian portrays the role of Damon Salvatore. I was look at some photos of the cast and the leads: Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder. I encountered the cover photos of Entertainment Weekly starring the lead cast of VD! Aside from the provocative and sensual pose of the cast, which I can honestly is an eye candy, I also manage to see this photo that made me laugh and almost caused me to have an asthma attack! As you see, Nina Dobrev was removed from the picture and the image resulted to this:

Singapore Trip Day One

My trip started from NAIA 3 terminal with a Cebu Pacific Flight to Changi International Airport that lasted approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes including the delays due to air traffic.

The country of Singapore is located near the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula The country may be small in size and lacks natural resources with only a land area of 710 square kilometers and a population of 5 million people but it is highly urbanized and boost of tourist attractions^[1].

Singapore Flyer

My first stop was the Singapore Flyer. The Singapore Flyer is a giant Ferris wheel the ride is approximately 35 minutes long (one revolution). From the top you could see the Singapore skyline and some of the Indonesian islands. Inside the capsule you will not feel any motion sickness. Even those that are terrified of heights, you will not be scared.

Merlion Statue

The second stop was the Merlion statue. It is half lion and half fish. It is located at Merlion Park near the tip of the One Fullerton Hotel. At the back of the original Merlion, you will see it cub or as we called it during our trip the Baby Merlion. The visit to Singapore is not complete without seeing the Merlion.

After visiting the Merlion Park, it was back to 30 Raffles Avenue or the Food Court of the Singapore Flyer to use the $10 coupon that we had for supper. Singapore food widely varies from Indian, Chinese and Malay influenced food to western.

Singapore River Cruise

After eating we went to for the Singapore River Cruise depending on your choice it can be from 40 to 60 minutes. Personally go for the cruise during the night. Seeing the nightlights, the lower temperature will help a lot to enjoy your trip. Oh, I also forgot to mention that the sunset is around 7:00pm. Strange for those like me from the Philippines who are used to having the sun set by 6:00pm. After the river cruise, it was time to check in to our hotel and have a good nights rest!

Back to school

Just an few days ago, the semesters starts again. Meeting the most loved and hated people in the campus; from the professors to campus celebrity. Along with my friends, we feel that we want an extension of our semester break. After all we need some break; obviously, out of town vacation is out.

What do we do?

For me, it is simple. I just do what ever I want. If I want to read, watch some movies or television show, then I do it. Whatever I want.

Going back to the main topic,I just read some books. Reading some novels relaxes me; as long as I like what I'm reading. I manage to read 7 full length novels in less than 10 days. I don't know what made me to read books for the last two weeks but after reading I feel much better. So read and relax so we could face the world's challenge.

Please take note that I only read after making sure that all of my responsibility for that day is completed.

What does it takes to be happy? I mean true happiness... there are various song, stories, movies and many more that tell us about happiness, the tears and joys of life. I know, I'm still young, that I could not understand it from the prospective of adults.

What can bring us happiness? Is it material, unconditional love, recognition or self worth?

Is happiness worth searching for? After all, one cannot know about happiness until one was able to comprehend sorrow, anguish and dejection.

Well... I'm just a little upset and know I can't even get my thoughts straight. they are jumbled in my head along side from the ideas formed from my college courses: philosophy, social science and psychology. I just want to have answers to my questions.

Reading

Reading is some much fun yet sometimes it just bears tears and some realization to us. Sometimes we just cry, as we are able to relate to the pain and happiness of the characters. Reading is a way to escape reality for a moment to forget. Being one with the character, we tend to temporarily neglect time or even our own anguish.

What the hack I'm talking about.... well just some ideas/insights and maybe some emotional breakdown

Salvation

I’ve been reading the Dark Hunter series of Sherrilyn Kenyon for the past few days. Seen the first book I picked out the character of Ash or Acheron Parthenopaeus. The more books I read the more I wonder about the man. Said to be the first dark hunter and later revealed be a Atlantean god from various books of the whole series. He is enigmatic his appearance from the previous book. He speaks of in-depth wisdom and understands the pain of others. This led me to jump to the book, titled Acheron, which is revealed his secrets to the readers. How he had suffered in childhood and the reason he valued humanity. The book revealed how his past had hunted him through the years. The wisdom he carries and the person behind the façade. The man hiding in a punk Goth outfit, the man who refuses the touch of others and the man willing to sacrifice himself for others but takes nothing for himself was finally revealed in the book.

In the book, there was a scene where Acheron sang the Nickelback’s song, Savin’ Me. The song really relate to Acheron’s search for salvation. I say salvation from the pain of his past. As the song’s lyrics:

Heaven's gates won't open up for me.

With these broken wings I'm fallin'

And all I see is you.

He had sought to end his life as means to end his suffering, as a human, but all his attempts were futile. He was not allowed to die, when he was still a human, due to the fact that his life is tied to his twin brother. His brother, the second born, was the heir to the throne. As a god, he cannot even see his real mother, Apollymi the goddess of destruction as it would free here and cause the destruction of the world nor could he die since it would also result in the same fate which one he choose. As his love for humanity and the Dark-Hunters, he couldn’t even touch his mother not escape pain by means of death. He really is seeking salvation.

As I finished reading the book, I think the song Kenyon had chosen for Acheron to sing was fitting. He was just asking for his burden to ease just like everyone. We all have our own personal demon from out past that we want to forget or wished that there was a way to escape it. But as the song implied help, compassion and love from others which are freely without regard given can save us.
