I created this card for my husband's boss who has become quite ill. He has a hobby farm and loves his new tractor. So I had a theme for my card.
I cut the characters out at 3.5. and the sentiment at One inch.

Ballerina Hello Kitty

2012-09-21T21:57:00.001-07:00

Ever so often I want a girly cute card and I pull out my Hello Kitty cartridge. This time I went with the ballerina and Dancing figures,
I picked hot pink and brown for my primary colours.

Used a 5x6.5 card base and the sentiment is font from Hello Kitty cut at one inch.

Bon Voyage Bill and Martha

2012-09-21T21:47:00.003-07:00

My Brother and his wife Martha are heading out on a 10 month adventure. They are sailing down the inland water system to Miami and then on over to the Bahama's. They have a 39 foot sailboat named Eagle's wing. They have been gone for 2 weeks and are already thru the Erie canal and onto the Hudson River.
I managed to have them over for supper before they left and here are the two cards that I gave them.

I created this card for Liz's (my future daughter in law) and forgot it when we flew out to Banff, Alberta. So you are getting a preview of the card that was never delivered. I used my imagine on this one and also printed out the paper. All images found on Kate's kitchen.

I couldn't resist purchasing the Art Deco cartridge. The cards that I created are with bold colours to reflect the 1940's. No added glitz such as sparkles or embellishments. I thought that I should keep the card clean and I would be interested in your thoughts.

Every day pop up cards: link to Obsessed with Scrapbooking blog

2012-08-15T19:21:00.001-07:00

Have you ever tried to create a pop up card and you just cannot figure how to or where to glue the cut onto the card well try going to Obsessed with Scrapbooking. Joy's blog has a pdf file that you can download and it has picture instructions on how to create the pop up card of any die cut on the cartridge, I have added Joy's info and no wonder she can figure out what to glue where, She's a former civil engineer.
www.obsessedwithscrapbooking.com cricut-everyday-pop-up-cards-diagrams

I'm a former civil engineer, now a paper engineer who loves scrapbooking.

This blog is about learning to use your Cricut for all your scrapbooking and cardmaking. Check out the above menu bar links for videos, tutorials and general information! For more ideas on using your Cricut for the holidays and everyday, check out my other blog, Everyday Cricut.

I created a pop up card using Joy's instructions and cut the phrase New Arrival pop up at 5 inches: The Phrase comes out at 1.8 inches. The baby carriage was cut at 3 inches and the top hatted Stork was cut at 3 inches. . Before I found Joy's instructions I said a few bad things about Provo Craft. Once I found the instructions I mellowed out and managed OK. So thankyou Joy for creating this great guide into pop up cards.

Cards mini purse 3x5

2012-08-15T04:51:00.000-07:00

I was challenged to make a simpler smaller version of the 3D purse cards that I have been creating. I used the forever Young cartridge, Ribbons and Rosettes and Elegant edges.
Most of the purses were cut at 3.5 inches.

Song Bird from Kate's Garden Imagine

2012-06-20T15:04:00.001-07:00

When I have difficulty with the expression 2 and get flustered, I power up my Imagine and fall in love with this machine once again.
I selected Kate's Garden and selected the Bird and selected layers which separates the image into several pictures. I cut the bird at 3 inches.
I also used the sew easy to punch a loop design on the outside edges. Once this is done you can sew the design using a bright pink embroidery thread.
I also cut a ribbon and tied a small bow with long tails. I threaded the tails through the bird's beak and flowers located all over the card.
I used a red ink to distress the edges of the cuts and the card's edges.
I then glittered the flowers, birds crown with a fine pink glitter.
I used the Art Philosophy cartridge for the sentiment frames. These were cut at 1.5 (special) and .7 (Wonderful).
I embossed using the Happy Birthday from cricut and cut the paper to size.
When I showed the card to my Husband he laughed out loud. He said there wasn't any area left untouched and I probably used all the techniques on card making, known to mankind.

Superman for a super dad

2012-05-29T05:42:00.003-07:00

I cut superman and all of the inside details at 5 inches. Superman wasn't too hard to do, did not have a lot of layers. I got the super Dad from the Father's day cartridge and it is cut at 2 inches.
I drew a line at 3 and 9 to create the fold out card. Card dimensions were 6x6 inches.

What I would do different? I would find out how to create a shadow of any image using Craft Room.
I would use a black shadow with white for the sentiment Happy Retirement. (I actually used Calligraphy cartridge and welded the letters together using the craft room software.
Everything cut out as planned but I really must figure out the shadow effect because just increasing the size of the cut does not create a true shadow.

2012-05-12T12:09:00.000-07:00

I have good friends who married two weeks after us. We are all still together and this is our 36 anniversary. I made a card for them and since I was working on the Mickey and friends cartridge I decided to use the walkway, house, tree, picket fence and of course Mickey and Minnie all were cut at 3 inches. I used a 12 x 12 base and scored the rt and lt sides at 3 inches, leaving a 6 inch area to create my mural.
I used Lyrical letters to cut out at 2 inches the Happy anniversary. The words To, Two and two love birds came from Songbird.
The sun and clouds were from mickey and friends and were cut at 3 inches. The grass was cut at 1 inch and was from Once upon a child.
The face on the sun was from Peachy Keen.
I edged / distressed all edges using the Honey colour distressed ink from Ranger.

Love the way the middle of the card lifts away. Susan even decorated the back arm of this area.

Great stamping and lovely ink colour

The attention to detail is evident in the inner card area. Gorgeous stamping

Awesome back ground embossing using aluminum foil. Very striking.

Hope you can see the embossed butterflies

What could be cuter than a follow the dot puzzle. Very creative.

The loose frog is actually a fridge magnet. These characters were done on an imagine machine.

Lovely colours and embossing details.

Mr Potato head is on a wobble. So cute and I love the colours.

Recently have been working on cards for the any occasion card swap. I got my return package today and all of the cards are fantastic. I will try to get all of the cards posted, and I apologize right now if I miss anyone.

Found the cute figures on an imagine cartridge Best Friends. The sentiment was also found from the same cartridge.

back of ABC card. I found this great paper that had letters of the Alphabet scrambled around it.

ABC cut out from doodle bug cartridge. I thought it would make a great thank you card with a inscription of Words cannot express my thanks for a lovely .....etc.

On the back of the card I cut an outline 3 flowers and glittered them.

Kate's ABCs have the little Monkey hanging upside down.
The first card I hand wrote the words Let's hang out and" to go along with the stamped sentiment Celebrate.
The first card I used the signage Little Monkey that is found in Kate's ABCs.

Little monkey was the first card and I added a lime shadow to the monkey figure and this made the figure stand out from the background.

2012-03-08T03:14:00.000-08:00

Well I've done it again. Joined another swap, this time the theme is Occasional cards. I had to create two different cards (fourteen of each design) and stay within the allowable size. I created a man's birthday card and a baby boy's card. The deadline date is March 21st and I am actually ahead of the game. I stayed up late and crafted away. I can't sleep so I might as well keep busy.
I'll try to post all of the different cards that other talented ladies created when I get my package.
This was all arraigned by Shelley Heinrich, who lives in Medicine Hat and is a Cricut circle member.. So a big thank you to Shelley. She will be receiving all of the cards, sort them into fourteen X 2 piles and send them out to all participants.
The hippo (create a critter) was cut out at 5 inches . The background was from George Basic shapes.
The flower was cut out in decreasing diameters and can be found on George.
The fish came from the lite cartridge Wildlife. I had a tough time working on the fish card. Once I spritzed the green glitter on the card it curled up and in my mind ruined it. i put the cards under a big book and it did help to straighten the card.

It's a great way to learn how to create different styles and see how lovely all of the cards are.

Valentine's Day Cards with Imagine

2012-02-12T07:04:00.000-08:00

I was very lucky today as I had a whole day to play with my machines. I had purchased the Good old days, Doodle Art and the Imagine cards inside and out.
I cut the images at 3 inches and everything turned out great.
As usual the craft room refused to cut my first try and after I selected all and grouped all the images together and then selected single layer on my second try and it worked as it was suppose to.
I am still having trouble calibrating my imagine. The cuts are really off. Oh well I am still learning and will solve this problem eventually.

I found a lovely printed cardstock of two birds and a large heart. The image covered 7.5 x 12 inches so I decided to do the slot cut out for a elevated strip. I divided the card into four equal areas. I created the flowers by printing out the 1x 11 inch strips from Ribbons and Rosettes cartridge. Scoring the design in equal areas and then hot gluing the strip into a 2 inch in diameter flower.
I got out my fountain pen (fine quill) and using my gold ink, I highlighted the printed design. I wrote Be mine in large gold lettering.

Smash swap bound journal

2012-02-04T22:21:00.000-08:00

I received the smash pages Feb 2nd and it was so easy to be inspired. I broke out the old Zutter binder and quickly had a very unique journal to show off all of the talented creations done for me. I have included pics of most of the pages that were sent to me. Apologies for missing any. There were a lot of extras (stamped signs, flowers, bling, clips and clamps and on and on.

So thanks to all of the creative ladies who joined in on the swap.

with Sympathy and Sophie

2012-01-26T03:37:00.000-08:00

I recently pulled out the sophie cart and found several lovely cuts and a ton of ready to make cards.
I cut out several of the accent cuts using red with a black backgound. I white pen stitched and embossed the background paper.
I had trouble cutting out the with sympathy sentiment as the red paper was very fibrous. Using several trial and error pressure and cutting depth finally managed to squeek out two good cuts. Sometimes being creative can be very hard.
I glued on some black 1/4 inch ribbon and ta da finito.

Good old days Valentine

2012-01-26T03:28:00.000-08:00

I recieved the Good old days imagine cartridge and quickly did a valentine card. It's a lovely retro look to all of it's figures. I cut them on a layer setting and the one thing that glared at me was my calibration was totally off. At least by 1/4 of an inch. Hence the cut off on the sentiment. Still it gives you an idea of one of the images. Good news is that I've fixed the problem.
