Lent is a time for preparation and contemplation.
It is a time that we may use to go inside our selves.
Once inside, we can reignite the flame of love for Christ,
and with this flame alight , we can see clearer and put in order everything that is out of place.
Lent is the opportunity that we have to offer Jesus some kind of love sacrifice.
For love, for companionship, for thankfulness, for compassion.
It is a reminder that love isn't always well received, but it always prevails.

"Each year Lent recalls the mystery of Christ "lead by the Spirit in the desert" (Lk. 4:1). With this unique experience, Jesus gave witness to His complete surrender to the will of the Father. "For believers, therefore, Lent is the appropriate time for a profound re-examination of life. In today’s world, there is much generous witness to the Gospel, but there are also baptized people who, when faced with the demanding call to "go up to Jerusalem", remain deaf and resistant, even at times openly rebellious. There are situations where people’s experience of prayer is rather superficial, so that the word of God does not enter deeply into their lives. Even the Sacrament of Penance is thought by many to be unimportant and the Sunday celebration of the Eucharist is seen as a mere duty to be performed. How should we respond to the invitation to conversion that Jesus addresses to us in this time of Lent? How can there be a serious change in our life? First of all, we must open our hearts to the penetrating call that comes to us from the Liturgy. The time of preparation for Easter is a providential gift from the Lord and a precious opportunity to draw closer to him, turning inward to listen to his promptings deep within. 2. There are Christians who think they can dispense with this unceasing spiritual effort, because they do not see the urgency of standing before the truth of the Gospel. Lest their way of life be upset, they seek to take words like "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you" (Lk 6:27) and render them empty and innocuous. For these people, it is extremely difficult to accept such words and to translate them into consistent patterns of behaviour. On the other hand, when we are offended or hurt, we are tempted to succumb to the psychological impulses of self-pity and revenge, ignoring Jesus’ call to love our enemy. Yet the daily experiences of human life show very clearly how much forgiveness and reconciliation are indispensable if there is to be genuine renewal, both personal and social. This applies not only to interpersonal relationships, but also to relationships between communities and nations."

Padrinho Sebastião is remembered by us as a man devoted to God. Naturally his feelings were always the noblest. Among these feelings, a great love for nature. Even without ever attending school or an ecological lecture, he knew about things through a simple act of love that was inherent in him. I recollect wistfully the old times of settlement of the community, the origins of Céu do Mapiá. Padrinho accompanied the opening of squirt roads across the forest step by step, always demanding from the youths respect and affection for the virgin forest. On a certain occasion, a rubber tapper found a herd of pigs and killed more than one animal, out of vanity, for he was far and would not be able to carry them both. When Padrinho got to know about the wickedness, he severely reprehended the offender. By living harmoniously we can make use of what the forest offers for our survival. It is possible to knock down a tree and preserve all the ecosystem. This must be our reality: to know how to live together with the wealth that God offers to us. Never to be a greedy, harmful person, a destroyer. "Well-ventured are the humble of spirit because theirs is the Kingdom of the Heaven. Well-ventured are the gentle because they will inherit the Earth". So Jesus said. I trust this brotherhood and I see that a lot people deserve this title. They are the ones who live in great universal harmony, not pursuing neither injuring their similar, not polluting neither mistreating the nature.

Day of All Saints

The festivity of the day of All Saints is celebrated in honor of all of the saints and martyrs, known or unknown. The Catholic Church celebrates the Festum omnium sanctorum on the 1st of November followed by the day of the faithful deceased on the 2nd of November. The Orthodox Church celebrates this festivity in the first Sunday after the Pentecost, closing the liturgical time of Easter. In the Lutheran Church the day is celebrated mainly to remember that all the holy persons baptized are Saints and also those persons that passed away in the year.

The day of All Saints' objective is to supply any absences from the faithful ones in remembering all the saints in the celebrations during that year. This tradition of remembering (make memory) the saints is in the origin of the composition of the liturgical calendar, in which initially were the dates of anniversary of the death of the Christians martyrized as a testimony through His faith, being carried out in these celebrations prayers, masses and vigils, habitually in the place or in the immediacies of where they died, as happened around the Coliseum of Rome. Subsequently it became habitual to erect churches and cathedrals dedicated to their memory in those same places.

According to the teaching of the Church, the messianic intention of this celebration that takes place in the whole world, stands out the calling from Christ to each person to follow Him and be a saint, to the image of God, the image in which we were originally created and for which we should continue to walk in love. This not only cause to see that alive saints exist (not barely the ones from the past) and that each person can be, but especially causes to understand that is endless the number of potentials Saints who aren't known, but in the same way that the canonized equally see God face the face, have full happiness and intercede for us.

Christ, we adore Him, because He is the Son of God;

concerning the martyrs, we love them as disciples and imitadores of the Lord;

and this is fair, because of their imcomparable devontion to their King and Master. So we may also be their companions and condisciples.

Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Aparecida

The story of Our Lady of the Conception Aparecida beginned around 1717, when came the news that the Count of Assumar, D.Pedro of Almeida and Portugal, Governor of the Province of São Paulo and Minas Gerais would pass by the Town of Guaratinguetá, in his way to Vila Rica, today Ouro Preto city - MG. The Administrative Chamber of Guaratinguetá decided and promptly. The time was not favorable for fishing, but this was a problem left for the fishermen . The Count had to try the fish from the river Paraíba. Fishermen were summoned all around. João Alves, Domingos Garcia and Felipe Pedroso, inhabitants of Itaguaçu, were among them: they got their boats, their nets and threw themselves in the difficult task of searching for fish in the Rio Paraíba. They went down the river and found nothing. They rowed all night without getting any fish. After many unsuccessful attempts, they arrived to the Port Itaguaçu, where threw their nets again. João Alves felt that his net weighed. Could it be fish? He hauled it. No. There were no fish. It was the body of an image of Our Lady of Conception. But... what about the head, where was it? They kept the finding in the bottom of the boat. They kept on trying to find fish. Suddenlly, in the net of the same fisherman, a blackened head of an image. João Alves caught the body from the bottom of the boat and put it near the head. Perfect fit. That alone could be miracle. They blessed themselves and wrapped the pieces in a cloth. They continued the fishing. But now the fish knew exactly the address of their nets. And there were so many that they feared for the fragility of the boats...

The Priest Francisco da Silveira, who wrote the cronicle of a Mission in Aparecida in 1748, qualified the image of the Virgin Aparecida as “famous for the many miracles made". And he adds that numerous were the pilgrims who came from far away to thank for favours received .

The first wonder, no doubt, was the abundant fishing that followed the finding of the image. There are no other references about the fact than the narrative of the finding of the image: "And, continuing fishing, not having up to that time caught any fish, from then the fishing was so abundant, that getting afraid of a shipwreck for the amount of fish they had in the canoes, the fishermen withdrew to their houses, astonished with what happened."

However, the most symbolic and rich in meaning, no doubt, was the miracle of candles for its intimate relation with faith: After the fishermen arrived from the fishing where they found the Lady, Felipe Pedroso took the image to his house , keeping it for 5 years. On the occasion of him moving to the neighborhood of the Ponte Alta, he gave the image to his son Athanásio Pedroso, who lived in Port Itaguaçu, quite near to the place where his father Felipe Pedroso, João Alves and Domingos Garcia had found the image. Athanásio made an altar out of wood and put the Miraculous Image of Aparecida. On Saturdays he and his neighbors got together to pray a rosary in Her devotion. In one occasion, upon praying the rosary, 2 candles were put out in the altar of Our Lady, this was very strange, because that night was very calm and there was no reason for that happening. The devouts were all surprised and, when Silvana da Rocha, that was following the rosary in that day, tried to lit them once again, they were litten by themselves, without nobody touching it: prodigiously, as a perfect miracle. From this date forward the Miraculous Image of Our Lady Aparecida stopped belonging to the family of Felipe Pedroso to belong to every one of us, devouts of this Holy Miraculous Saint.

Significant also it is the wonder of the shackles that were loosened from the hands of a slave, when he begged for the protection of Aparecida. There are many oral versions about this fact. Some are rich in details. The first to mention it in written was the Priest Claro Francisco de Vasconcelos, in 1828. One of the versions of this miracle tells that the slave Zacarias pleaded for the Virgin Mariy to free him from the torture of his cruel owner. The slave had fled from the farm, but upon being captured, he asked the foreman to let him make a prayer in the chapel where was the image of Our Lady. When he began to pray, he heard a click and the iron handcuffs that were bounding his feet got opened on their own in a miraculous way. The foreman, frightened with what he saw, let the slave go away immediately.

Historical description of the Image of Our Lady Aparecida

The Image of Our Lady of the Conception Appeared, was found in the River Paraíba, in the second fortnight of October of 1717; it is 40 centimeters high and made out of terracotta - thas is, clay that, after modeled, is cooked in an appropriate oven.

Hypothetically, it would have been, originally, polychr0matic, as was custom in that time, but there is not documents that verify. When it was caught, the body was separate from the head and, a lot probably, without its original polychrome, due to the years in that it was submerged in the waters and slime of the river.

The cinnamon color by that, today, it is known, must be due to the fact of having being displayed, for years, close to the flames of candles and lamps. Its style is from the XVIIth century, as asserted by specialists who have studied it.

Among the ones that who confirm the Image to be from the Century XVII are Dr. Pedro de Oliveira Ribeiro Neto, the benedictine monks of the Monastery of São Salvador, in the Bahia, Dom Clemente da Silva Nigra e Dom Paulo Lachenmayer.

Finally, in 1978, after the attack that reduced it to almost two hundred pieces, was taken to theTeacher Pietro Maria Bardi – in the time, director of the Museum of Art of São Paulo – that examined, together with Dr. João Marine, collector of Brazilian images.

It was completely reconstructed by the plastic artist Maria Helena Chartuni, at the time, restorer of the Museum of Art of São Paulo. According to studies of the experts mentioned, the Image was molded with clay native of São Paulo, from the region of Santana do Parnaíba, situated in Greater São Paulo.

The most difficult was to determine the author of the small image, for it is neither signed or dated. So, after a comparative study, the experts came to the conclusion that it was the work of a sculptor who was a disciple of the benedictine monk Friar Agostinho da Piedade, and also his colleague of Order, Friar Agostinho de Jesus.

Some characteristics of their style: smiling shape of the lips, built-in chin, with a dimple in the center; well-groomed, flowers in prominence, in the hair, a brooch with three pearls in the forehead and a straight posture.

All of these details can be found in the Image of Our Lady of the Conception Aparecida, and, by that, the experts Dom Clemenente da Silva Nigra and Dom Paulo Lachenmayer came to the conclusion that the Image was carved by the benedictine monk Friar Agostinho de Jesus.

From the 8th of september of 1904, when she was crowned, the image started to wear, officialy, the crown offered by the Princess Isabel, in 1884, as well as the navy blue cloak.

Spiritual cleansing of 21 days - Archangel Michael

This is a psychography of the Archangel Michael, received by the medium Greg Mize.

Saint Longinus

São Longuinho (Saint Longinus) lived in the first century, he was a contemporary of Jesus Christ and according to the very rare accounts as to the life of this saint, he is said to be the centurion that, in the Crucifixion, recognized Christ as "the son of God" (27:54 Matthew; Mark 15:39; Luke 23:47). This centurion is identified also as the soldier that "perforated Jesus with a spear" (John 19:34), probably for the fact of his name being derived from the Greek, meaning "a spear". It is told that the ones who were crucified had their feet broken in order to ease the removal from the cross, but when it was Jesus' turn, he already had his feet free, and so, instead of breaking his feet, one of the soldiers perforated the side of his body with a spear. The water that came from Jesus' wound would have splashed into his eyes, curing him instantly of a serious illness in his eyes. Consequently, the soldier was converted and, upon abandoning for ever the army and his dwelling, became a monk traveling through to Caesarea and Cappadocia, actual Turkey. The tradition tells us that Saint Longinus destroyed some images idolized in the time with an axe, in the presence of a man that pursued him, and that from the broken images came out many malignant spirits that possessed and blinded such man. Longinus told him that he would only be cured and liberated after his conversion. So, after making a prayer, the man was immediately healed of the blindness and converted himself to Christianity. Saint Longinus was imprisoned and tortured because of his Christian faith, having his teeth pulled out and his tongue cut. Usually invoked for finding lost objects, in East Europe his party is celebrated on the 16th of October. In Brazil and Spain, the celebration occurs on the 15th of March. In the liturgical art, Saint Longinus is represented as a soldier with a spear aimed at his eyes or with open arms, holding a spear. The spear of Saint Longinus finds-itself today in Vienna, Austria, and is much respected as a religious relic.

Alfredo Gregório de Melo was born on 07/01/1949, in the Seringal* Adélia, in Rio Juruá. He is the son of Padrinho Sebastião Mota de Melo and Madrinha Rita Gregório.
He is President of the Eclectic Center of Fluent Universal Light Raimundo Irineu Serra and Director of the community Céu do Mapiá, in the state of Amazonas, Brazil.

It is my desire that everyone studies themselves and be able to understand the value of this Doctrine, considered the newest in the world. Ayahuasca is a very old beverage, millenary. The Doctrine was received by the Master Raimundo Irineu Serra in the rubber fields, in the jungles. Therefore, the Doctrine is new and the beverage is old.

Good time of God.
Good Nature.
Eternally. Life.
Good Divine Creation,
eternally natural.
Good God in everything.
Good God in Life.
Good God in Nature.
Good God in the human nature.
In the nature man - woman.

*brothers= brothers and sisters (the plural form in portuguese is masculine, unless all elements are feminine).
*Seringal= rubber tree plantation, rubber "field" (and its surroundings). Usually means the villages where the rubber tappers lives, including the plantation.
*Bom dia - can mean Good day, but is mainly our morning salutation, since after noon it turns to "Boa tarde".

THE HINÁRIO O CRUZEIRO

Master Raimundo Irineu Serra was born in Maranhão, in 1892. In 1912, when he was 20 years old, he moved to Acre, heading to the rubber fields, in the border with Bolivia.
By that time, he met Antônio Costa, who knew the beverage Ayahuasca, and gave him the touch of initiation.
It is known that in his life of rubber tapper, in the contact with this beverage, fruit of the forest, he received the strength and the revelation to found the Doctrine of Santo Daime.
In 1930, he moved to Rio Branco, leaving behind the former ocupation. At this time he was 39 years old.
It was in Rio Branco that he found the fertile ground to germinate the seed of his mission of a Master. He beginned to group people around himself. He went on perfecting his work, until in 1935 he started receiving hymns. This chants were received from the astral or the spiritual reality. People say He didn't know how to sing nor had voice for that and that it was the spiritual Virgin Mother that tought him and ordered him to sing to teach his brothers (and sisters).
The hinário O Cruzeiro* is this revelation: a new word, beautiful, simple - of an old teaching. It is the fruit of the Daime and its strong word. From this hymn book descends a pleiad of hymns in praise of God and His creation.
Well, talking about the hinário O Cruzeiro*, of what it really means, is a very difficult task. Then I realise, for sure, loving this chants in my heart, I am fulfilling myself completely in the Spiritual Life.
