Der Motorsport erfreut sich immer größerer Beliebtheit. Ob auf vier Rädern oder auf zwei - Fahrer wie Fans investieren viel Zeit für diesen Sport. Zu Vierrädrigen kann die Formel 1 gezählt werden, ebenso wie der Rallye-Sport, Rallye 200 und Kartrennen. Zu den Zweirädrigen zählt der Motorradsport und Motocross. Zu weiteren Vierrädrigen zählt das Truck Racing (LKW-Rennen). In der Luft gibt es den Motorsport ebenfalls mit viel Lautstärke: das Luftrennen. Der nicht gerade ungefährliche Sport hat bereits viele Opfer gekostet. Nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg wurde nach schweren Unfällen mit zahlreichen Toten dieser Sport sogar verboten. Erst in den 60er Jahren konnte durch die verbesserte Technik beispielsweise bei den Rennstrecken, das Verletzungsrisiko vermindert werden. Ende der 70er Jahre gingen durch die Einführung von Gurten, feuerfester Kleidung, sowie Überrollbügeln das Verletzungsrisiko fast ganz zurück. Die V8-Sportlimousine wurde dafür nur leicht modifiziert. Durch das AMG Performance Package kommt der 6,3-Liter-Motor nun auf eine Höchstleistung von 358 kW bei 600 Newtonmetern Drehmoment.
