A practical joke on the loyal fans who actually believed that Denver was going to be better this year. Maybe only a .500 team, but a competitive team. The one area they needed to fix was defense. Last year, Denver's defense couldn't stop anyone on 3rd downs. It appears to be the same story again this year. With a 3rd and 13 late in the first half, Denver needed a stop. On a give up draw play, the Raiders ran for 15 yards and set themselves up for a score.

When trailing by just 3 points late in the game. Denver had two chances to stop the Raiders and get the ball back with enough time to make a play and tie things up. Instead. Denver gave up 2 runs of 10 or more yards that sealed their fate.

The offense managed a paltry 13 points. They Raiders fumbled away a punt on their first possession and Denver couldn't do anything from their 15. They had to settle for a field goal. The rest of the first half Denver seemed out of sync, had several dropped balls, and no running game.

Orton. I've said this before and I'll say it again. Orton will not win you many games. He is probably one of the best QBs between the 20s, but cannot do much in the red zone. He is not any good when he has to make a play. Late in the first half, he threw a pick which resulted in the Raiders kicking a record tying 63 yard field goal. When Denver was down by 3, Orton fumbled away any chances Denver had of coming back. At that point in the game, Denver was moving the ball, and the Raiders were losing their composure. Had Denver scored at that point, they might have had just enough to win that game. Instead, the Raiders scored a touchdown and Denver was out.

Orton will not cost you any games, he just won't win you any games. He will do just enough, but there are times when you need to have your QB take the team and will them to victory. Orton does not have that quality.

So what has happened in between? HP got some smarts and decided to sell the Touchpad at a loss. Demand has been so overwhelming that HP is going to do one last run of the Touchpad to meet the demand. I've run into folks who had never heard of WebOS that now own a Touchpad. Sales of apps are about 5 times greater than they were just a month ago. So where does that leave WebOS?

HP wants to dump hardware. Margins are thin and they don't generate enough revenue. They are not dumping WebOS. Samsung and HTC are still hinting at using WebOS to compete against Google and Apple. WebOS apps are still being developed. There is a big community out there.

Not only did I get a Touchpad, but I have also upgraded my Palm Pre to a Palm Pre 2. I love WebOS.

I have lost 25 pounds since starting at the end of July. A couple of things that I have learned from Slow Carb.

1.) It works for me. It may not be a long term solution for me, but I don't have any troubles following a Slow Carb diet. Lean protein and veggies with complex carbs provides a decent amount of variety.

2.) You need a cheat every now and then. In the "4 Hour Body" book, he advocates a cheat day. I have not really done that. I have more like a cheat meal. And even the cheat meal is mainly slow carb with a treat thrown in. A burger (no bun) with green beans and fries. The fries are a big cheat. The cheat gives you something to look forward to and it sort of shakes up your body.

3.) I can live without bread. Maybe not in every instance, but bread, pasta and rice are a treat to be enjoyed every so often.

4.) I was never a big dairy man accept for coffee cream and ice cream. I'm still enjoying half and half in my coffee. I've had about 3 servings of ice cream in the last 2 1/2 months. I have a big cheat meal coming up in a few days. I might have ice cream or I might have a variety of little treats.

5.) You cannot really eat slow carb in a fast food setting. As a result, I have only been out to eat a couple of times. Those times were the result of poor planning or just a craving.

The one real drawback of a Slow Carb diet is that it requires prep time and effort. I eat an omelet with veggies or beans everyday. That takes about 1/2 of an hour to make. Kind of puts a dent in the mornings. A couple of tips to shorten the time needed in the mornings. Cook some of the food ahead of time. Turkey bacon has become a staple. It takes about 20 minutes to fry up a package. Usually I cook up a package on a Saturday or Sunday and have bacon for the week. Egg muffins are easy to make. They are easy to store and can be eaten cold or hot.

Salsa is the best. Salsa Verde (Green chili salsa) rocks on eggs and omelets. This isn't Adkins. This is slow carb. Don't eat hot dogs, bologna, fatty fast food meats, etc. Make sure your protein is lean. Learn to like beans. Black beans are easy to spice up with some garlic, cumin and cilantro. Lima beans and green beans with turkey bacon and tomatoes are the bomb.

Drink lots of water. Sometimes you get hungry and sometimes you get a craving for something you shouldn't eat. Drink some water. Fill up on water and soon enough the craving with go away.

At the rate I'm at, I should make it. There was about a week in the middle where things seemed to grind to a halt. The weight loss has picked up a bunch over the past week. I tweaked a few things...I'm drinking more water. I'm eating more carbs. The first couple of weeks I was having either beans or a veggie with the lean protein. Now I am having both. I am also eating a little more frequently. At least 4-5 times a day.

I created an awesome slow carb burrito bowl last night.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup onion
1/2 cup roasted green pepper. I roast the pepper under the broiler until the skin is blackened.
1/2 cup of mushrooms
1/4 cup of diced tomatoes
1 - 1/2 cups of slaw mix. The kind I used was shredded cabbage and broccoli.
1 cup of cubed chicken
1/4 cup of black beans
2 tbsp of salsa

Fry the chicken in a tiny bit of olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste. I have been using garlic infused sea salt. Set aside chicken. Add to the pan the slaw mix, onions, and peppers. Cook until tender. Add the mushrooms. Cook until the mushrooms are heated thru and begin to sweat. Put in a bowl, add the chicken, black beans, tomatoes and salsa. To take it over the top, add some avocado.

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

See if the Bible is a big book of poetry then we are not accountable to what it says.

Here's the real issue: if Genesis 1 is to be taken literally then we also have to take literally the fact that we are sinners that will be eternally separated from God when we die. And the only way to escape that punishment is to accept the free gift of Salvation made possible by the finished work of Jesus on the cross.

Sent from my iPod

I heard so many good things about this book. I really feel bad because I didn't like it. I didn't like it because I didn't like the people in the book. Susie's father gives up and her mother has an affair and runs away from her family. Oh, and Susie get's to come back to earth and decides to have relations instead of seeing her family. Maybe I'm missing something.

If Denver wants to win they need to keep him. With that said, they need to figure out a way to get Tebow playing on a consistent basis. Maybe that means using him at wideout or H-Back. The few times they did that last year it was obvious that he was going to run. Let him run the option. Do something that would give him experience and would help the team to win.

I'm tired of watching Denver lose. The fans want the team to be competitive and to win this year.

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

So far I have lost six pounds. I didn't go crazy on my cheat day. My cheat ended up being whole grain bread with honey butter. After a week of lean protein and green veggies, it tasted better than a Snickers. I want to lose a little weight...Actually a lot of weight! My hope is to add some good habits to my lifestyle. A treat should really be a treat. Exercise should be regular. Eating should be done in moderation.

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

When it was only a couple of bucks more a month, there was temptation to add DVDs to the account. Now it would be more than double. No thank you.

It would be interesting to see how much Netflix pays the studios for DVDs. And how big a part those purchases are as a part of overall DVD sales. The studios want control and streaming doesn't fit their schemes.

So is Netflix trying to get rid of DVDs? It would be sweet if this boosts the offerings that are available via streaming.

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone
