This wedding was quite special to me because I know the bride personally. We know each other from school and through mutual friends and I had the privilege of shooting her and the love of her life's engagement shoot as well as their wedding! Sam and Botha are such a vibrant couple and have a lot of energy in front of the camera and it was such a pleasure capturing them. There were so many highlights from this wedding for me like the flowers and decor, the million dollar cologne, Sam's shoes, the cake, the ceremony, and the first dance, the list goes on. I hope you enjoy your captured memories as much as I enjoyed taking them for you :)

Irma + Shaun | Cape Town e-shoot

I LOVED doing this engagement shoot with Irma and Shaun in Cape Town the end of last year. We had fantastic light and perfect weather (albeit the heat) and the most breathtaking views the city had to offer! You may remember I've spoken about Irma before...I did a blog post about the save the date invite she sent me here. And it's nearing to their wedding date in March when I'll be capturing their wedding! Look out for the pics then :) Enjoy this cool couple and the colourful city backgrounds.

I just loved the wedding of Magdel and André! Stunning dress, gorgeous protea decor, the cutest VW Beetle wedding car, fun guests and awesome bride and groom!

After meeting about 3 years ago through mutual friends they got engaged and decided to tie the knot at Opstal Wine Estate overlooking the beautiful Slanghoek valley. The only slight curveball for the day was the intense 39'C heat that graced us for this special occasion. Guests were also treated to a first dance with a difference with Magdel and André doing the tango!

Rochelle and Henry-John are a super chilled couple and I had such a great time at their wedding held at Glen Carlou on the 11/11/11. This wedding was quite different to the norm with it being held in the day with cakes and tea, savouries and wine and the most stunning decor! The pics say it all! There were so many great shots I had to split this wedding in two posts - see part 2 here. Enjoy!

This crazy cool shoot would not have been possible without the likes of my two friends Marlee and Gideon. You may remember their save-the-date shoot we did recently here. Totally true to their fun personalities - I had SUCH an awesome time photographing them and their quirks ;) We had enough time to squeeze in a quick outfit change and Marlee went for a Frida inspired look - Frida is also her favourite artist! Francois & Yolandé married!

I've been burning to get this post done! Absolutely loved this wedding...sweet couple + vintage red chevy + bit of wind ;) + all round awesome day!

Francois and Yolande are sweet, warm and down to earth people that I had the privilege of photographing twice! The first shoot was their engagement shoot (view it here) and the second was their wedding day, which went as follows.

I arrived at The Rosendal Wellness Retreat where the very calm bride to be was getting ready. We then proceeded to the ceremony and down the gravel road waiting for Yolande was this AWESOME vintage red chevrolet - I just about freaked out it was so cool! After the ceremony, which was held at the beautiful NG Kerk in Robertson, we proceeded with the couple shoot, but really battled with the wind on the day - wind in Robertson? Who knew ;) I quickly found some new spots and we were on our way. Had so much fun capturing sweet moments between these two lovebirds. We met up with the rest of the family and guests later at the reception at Bon Cap for 'lekker' food and festivities! Weereens dankie julle twee dit was rerig 'n lekker dag gewees!

Oh and I almost forgot to mention this was my first shoot with a Canon 5D - wow what a difference it makes!

The Pretty Blog competition feature

I received very exciting news on Friday...I found out that I won the Kamersvol/ theprettyblog.com photo competition! EEK! It still feels unreal. I was busy shooting Rochelle and Henry-Johns' wedding when Christene, my assistant for the day and ironically the second runner up in the competition, showed me on her phone! The winning pics are featured on the pretty blog and you can view the rest on my blog post here :)

Flash Workshop 2011

I recently bought a new off camera flash and it reminded me of a few pics I took at the One Simple Flash Workshop I attended earlier this year but didn't get around to blog. So figured why not post them now ;) The workshop was hosted by the flash expert Sybrand Cillie at Little Stream. Was SO informative and got to make new friends with other photographers!

This fun, laugh-a-minute shoot is all thanks to good friends of mine, Marlee & Gideon. They are the kind of friends where good times and sore tummy muscles from laughing so much are guaranteed! The shoot was for their save-the-dates that they sent out to guests. They are both fruit exporters so it was just appropriate to bring some apples into the mix :) I also have their couple shoot coming to the blog soon and I'm shooting their wedding in March!

I can honestly say, Robertson has become one of my new favourite places to shoot! And having a good looking couple like Francois and Yolandé to capture in its vibrant landscapes makes it all that much better! This post is full of special intimate, shy, silly, and fun moments of SUCH a super nice couple that I'll get to photograph again in October on their big day - and I can't wait!

I met up with Francois and Yolandé on the day of their shoot just outside of Robertson, where they live, and we simply got into one car and drove along a farm road and found the most beautiful spots. Yolande had such a great idea to incorporate their table numbers for the wedding into the shoot with a little black board and chalk.

Greyton landscapes

In the Winter season in the Cape the wedding photographers get a little break from shooting weddings, but we don't just put down our cameras and put up our feet - we keep shooting - and for the love of it!

I had a mini holiday in the countryside visiting my folks not too long ago. It was me and the open road and I had my camera next me on the passenger seat. These pics are some of the things I saw on my break to Greyton and surrounds...canola fields, blossoms, horses and donkeys....just what the doctor ordered :)

Jeanne-Marié & Howard engagement shoot

I had the pleasure of photographing Jeanne-marie and Howard the other day, and get this...it was on a luxury $4mil custom built yacht!! YAY!!! This was thanks to Howard, because he is an engineer and actually helped build this yacht in particular and organised that we could do the shoot on it. It was so much fun and absolutely breathtaking. The weather was perfect for us in the Waterfront..not even a breathe of air...and the sunset was magical.

Howard and Jeanne-marie are a really great couple and you can see their love for each other in the photos and in their interactions...there were some beautiful intimate moments I got to capture that day. Including when I was taking some photos of Jeanne-marie alone on deck and Howard came out the cabin with his guitar serenading her the song "I wanna grow old with you" from The Wedding Singer! I'm getting goosebumps thinking about it! Was so special and totally spontaneous :) They are both passionate about music and Jeanne-marie played a bit of her violin as well.

I did a little happy dance yesterday when I received this brown envelope in the post! Yes, regular post!

It's the save the date for Irma & Shaun's wedding that I'll be photographing in 2012. (I love how they sent me a save the date anyway!!!) Irma is an old school friend and also a very talented graphic designer. She did all the design for the save the date and I can't wait to see the 'formal' invite :) Her adorable site is worth a look so head on over to www.irma.moonfruit.com now!

Samantha & Botha | Engagement shoot

These two lovebirds are just totally photogenic and so in love you can't help but smile at their photos!

Samantha is an old school friend of mine and when she told me she was engaged I was so ecstatic for her (them), never mind the fact that she asked me to be her wedding photographer as well! Okay I'm over the moon with happiness! I'm shooting their wedding in December this year. So this brings us to her and Botha's engagement shoot that we did in Stellenbosch recently. We met at Oom Samie se Winkel and walked all over the town. I love the warm Autumn feel the photos have :) I even got to play around with some night time shots right at the end! Thanks you two!
