First Placement in Leighton Hospital, Crewe

I can't believe it. Time passes so darn fast. In just a blink of an eye, there is no need to travel to different places every week. There is no need to pay for cab and train fares at least twice a week. There is no need to pack and unpack my luggage during Saturdays or Sundays too. There is no need to buy a week's worth of groceries and carrying all of them to Crewe.

And most of all, there is no need to say goodbye to my boyfriend every week. I hate saying goodbyes. There is something about goodbyes which are so depressing.

Throwback: Bf and I at Picadilly Train Station

You know what's the best of all? Being able to buy proper food and eat healthily. No more pasta for now. I had to survive by eating long-shelf food, which you could all guess what it is already - pasta. -.-"

I can now eat meat, ham, and seafood anytime I want to because I can cook them anytime I want to and wouldn't have to rush to finish them in three to four days!

The only good thing about Leighton Hospital is the experience I've gained. (And all the UPSAs I managed to mark off. LOL. UPSAs are skills that medical students in clinical years have to complete and be marked off by the end of fifth year).

Also, my consultant gave me a super duper awesome feedback, despite being so mean to me sometimes. He gave me an 'Excellent' feedback. That was probably the only happy thing that happened to me throughout the whole of last week. :/

Looking forward to my new placement in Wythenshawe Hospital ! God, please let my journey be a smooth one. :D

Third Year

Third year in Manchester, UK has been rather crappy. Wanna know why I'm not updating my blog?
Because I have no life. Because medicine is sucking my life away. And most of all it's sucking my sleeping time away too. The horror !

I'm just about to finish my first placement in Leighton Hospital, Crewe (Thank God!). Honestly, the constant travelling every week, being away from friends and my comfy own space at home and having to go into the hospital at ungodly hours is really getting to me. All I do every single day is go to hospital, spend time in wards, go back to accommodation on-site, study and sleep. NO LIFE!

It's been a stressful 7 weeks. God, please let time pass fast so I can be in the comforts of my own feather duvet and feather pillow back in Manchester. LOL.

Not to mention, it is so damn difficult to work with the consultant I'm assigned to as well as my clinical partner. Consultants are consultants. They can be so arrogant and intimidating as well as so stuck up too.

I'm paying 30k pounds, a year, to be scolded because I have no idea what they are talking about, because I've never heard of what they are talking about, AND because I have never learnt about it...yet.

I'm learning about renal and diabetes this past 7 weeks and the consultant was telling me off for not knowing the liver scores and what transudate and exudate is and what the scores are for differentiating them both. Really? I don't even know there's a difference in transudate and exudate, and you want me to tell you the scores for differentiating them? How amazing.

It's so stressful and frustrating to put in so much effort and kept being picked on anyway for not knowing something. I'm not a book. I'm not Google. I don't know everything. It's horrible enough that most of the time, I am the one who is supposed to answer the questions. And when I don't know the answers, a monster is unleashed. Now I know why students studying medicine need to have a balanced life, strong will and be positive thinking. Because before you are even qualified to save other people's lives, you have to save your own first.

Having to skip all meetings back in Manchester, all social hangouts because I'm travelling back to Crewe on Sunday and not being able to swim (I need exercise) isn't making me a happy person. I need balance. I want balance. Studying, wards, talking to patients, practicing skills everyday and facing crap from other people isn't exactly balance. I want to swim. I want to be able to meet up with friends to chill out and relax after a long tiring day.

And this is just the problems I've been facing so far. I've not even mentioned the horrible stuff I had to face from my clinical partner.

I think I should just break down and cry now.

PS: If my child wants to study medicine in the future, I'll smack them upside down and tell them to choose something else. LOL. I'll give them the money to be a corporate person.

Lithuanian

Most people know that I have a white boyfriend. What most people don't know is that my white boyfriend is not from UK. He's from Lithuania, the current President of the European Union Council. :D

The good thing about him is that he speaks English too and that he has the Eastern European accent which is indeed really funny (Don't judge. Although I've been laughing at the way he speaks a lot, I still love him <3 ).

The bad thing is, he speaks Lithuanian with his fellow Lithuanian friends. He'll invite me to barbecue parties and day out with his friends but I have no idea what they're talking about. All I hear is 'br-bla-bla-tas-ak-bla'

It IS really hard to communicate with all of them too since talking in Lithuanian is definitely easier for them than conversing in English. Hence, I've started picking up Lithuanian on my own. Boyfriend said that he'll teach me someday. But I think he'll only teach me if I'm married to him and have kids in our own. That way he'll only teach once. (That guy said it on his own. Don't know if he means it or not)

YouTube and Google have been my great friend. ^^
I started speaking to bf in Lithuanian, wishing him Hello, Goodbye, Good morning, Good night etc whenever he calls me on Skype. Lol. And he has the cheeks to laugh at me because my pronunciation was off. Such an amazing boyfriend. Boo :'(

And when he was speaking with his Lithuanian housemate when we're both in Skype, I was shouting 'As nekalbu lietuviskai. Prasau, kalbate angliskai' which translates to 'I don't speak Lithuanian please speak English'. And he replied 'Ne. Ne prasik' (No. Don't ask). And continued laughing at me.

Needless to say, he was impressed.

Shall continue learning the language :D

Lack of updates

It has been incredibly boring in Malaysia. My life now is like a routine between waking up and sleeping to mum's nagging, doing household chores, Skyping boyfriend and playing games.

I haven't even been out with my friends much (because I don't think my mum will be very happy when I go out). FML.

I really wish my mum will be able to hire a worker soon. She has been very cranky and moody because of her work. There's always constant shoutings and naggings, and picking up fight over little things. Please please, I really wanna enjoy my summer, spend time with family and friends happily.

Also, Internet has been really shit here plus nothing interesting have been happening so far. Summer is pretty boring. :'(

PS: Edwin is coming over to visit me tomorrow. 4 more hours to sleep. So happy to be able to hang out with a dear brother in Malacca. :D

It has been a sad sad time...

I have been busy these few weeks. I reached Malacca around mid July and have only a few weeks to hang out with my best friends before both of them return to Aussieland and Indianland.

Needless to say, I haven't been hanging out much with them. They were both busy spending time with parents and I was busy helping my parents at home too. :'( I regret coming home late.

Just last week, I had to sag goodbye to both of them because they were leaving already :(
It's funny how best friends can pick up things where they left it from and just continue the conversation. It's funny how friendship can last through distances when sometimes relationships can't.

Speaking of which, I spoke to my boyfriend yesterday (via Skype since we're in a long distance relationship now). I'm returning to UK (if all goes well) on the 1st of September and arriving on the 2nd at 8am. Boyfriend suddenly said that he'll go back to Lithuania to visit his mum because his mummy misses him. Well, I can't say no, because it's his mum.

Him mum raised him to be a good person all by herself. Encouraging him to study abroad in UK to gain experiences while working hard to pay for his expenses there. She's a good mother. :)

Back to him, I'm arriving on the 2nd of September and he's leaving on the 3rd. And I thought we won't have to experience long distance when I'm back in UK. Sigh.

Update on O2

As of previous post, I bought my Nexus 4 from O2. I love that phone a whole load and am intending to continue using it in Malaysia. I was able to use my S2 last year, although it was locked to O2. So, I was crossing fingers that this year would be the same.

But NO, I couldn't use it at all. No signal whatsoever. My phone reads "Emergency calls only - Digi". I couldn't even receive or make calls. What's worse is my phone resetted and I lost all social apps eg. Whatsapp, Viber etc. Couldn't even contact my boyfriend in UK. :O

To be able to use my phone, I had to contact O2 and ask them to unlock it. Now, O2 has this policy where they can't unlock your phones for you unless it is at least a year old. Mine is approximately 7 months, since I bought it on 1st of January.

I had to tell them that I am now back in Malaysia for good (That's a lie LOL) and need my phone. It's ridiculous to spend another 400 quid on a new phone.

The advisor was like, "I know, but it's a company policy."

Me: Company policy? But I need my phone. I have been spending almost 1000 quid (RM 5000) in O2 for the past two years on expensive phones and top-ups. Don't you think that it is just stupid to leave my 400 quid phone aside and buy a new one because of your company policy?

Advisor Avery: I would love to help you. But it is not within my authorisation.

Me: Well, okay then. But I would NOT buy anything from O2 in the future. Simply because O2 doesn't prioritise their customer first. I understand your company policy. But sometimes, there are exceptions. You can kiss goodbye to one of your loyal customer. I could have bought my phone from other stores but I stuck to O2 anyway. Since this is the way you treat your customer, you can kiss goodbye to me spending huge amount of money in your store in the future. I would rather spend it on other stores and get better service.

Advisor Avery: Give me a moment. Let me see if my manager can help you.

So yeah, long story short, the manager gave me permission to unlock my phone. The manager even debited 15 pounds into my account so that I can unlock it for free. He said it is a one-off gift for all the trouble I have to go through (Called O2, Online chat with advisor Avery for two whole hours and then resorting to the manager)

Good thing is, I can use my phone now. Whatsapp, Viber etc available again. :D

Bad thing is, I receive an email saying my phone isn't locked at all. I then resorted to online chat again and was greeted by other advisors, instead of Avery.

Avery is a really nice and patient person. I think I have been hauling so much complaints at him but he always replies kindly. The other advisor, Suraya or something, is horrible ! So rude, I didn't even wanna talk to her. :/

Avery even greeted me and said "I hope I have managed to put a smile on your face" before ending the chat.

Phone story aside, I have been driving since I'm back in Malaysia. And I felt a sudden urge to just knock someone on their head.

First, crazy people are driving in the middle of the road when there's clearly two lanes. Drive on the left lane, can? Everytime I turn a corner, the right side of my car nearly got crushed. And the smart person can even show me the finger. At least one of them said sorry. Good enough. Learn undang again if you don't know the rules.

Secondly, Malays who are gonna buka puasa. They park smack right in the middle of the road, thinking it's their grandfather's road. I rolled down my window and nicely told the uncle to please not park there because it's obstructing my view. I'm trying to drive across to the opposite lane and I can't even see if there's cars coming since my view is blocked by the Malay uncle's car. And he said, "You stupid ah? Drive only." I feel like smacking him upside down. I know eating is important. But road safety more important, okay?!

Thirdly, eating pork. Whenever we, non-halal people, eat non-halal food eg. pork, Malays will go, "You cannot eat that in front of us." Okay,yes. I know it's rude. But don't see lah ! Muslims proceed to eating beef and mutton in front of Buddhists and Hindus. Isn't that rude too? If other people don't mind it, why are you so picky then? Sometimes, all these bullshit just don't make sense. If anyone starts telling me and say, "Please don't eat pork here (public area) because we are Muslims.", I will smack them upside down and say it's a public area. Don't eat beef and mutton and respect others first before reprimanding.

That's all for now. I'm back in the Land of Heavenly Food. I can eat non-stop. I think I'm gonna gain weight after summer. :/

I'm so pissed and upset now that I don't know what I am supposed to feel anymore.

I am finally home in Malaysia. I landed in KLIA and was greeted by a huge wave of hot air hitting and slapping across my face. And of course, not to forget the warm smiles of my family when they saw me walking out the arrival hall. My stupid brother wasn't there because he was too lazy and also a cheapo. He refused to hop onto the train/ MRT/ LRT to get his butt to KLIA.

I was like, "Ni limpeh come home once in a year and you don't wanna come and see me."

Brother replied, "Lazy and expensive. I come home on Friday."

Coming home on Friday and meeting me in the airport is different okay?

Anyway, back to why I was pissed and upset. Wait. I still AM pissed and upset.

My phone, Nexus 4, is locked to O2 and they refused to unlock it for me. I am willing to pay 20-30 pounds for them to unlock but they refused.

O2 person, "Sorry, we're not under obligations to unlock your phone for you"

Me in my head, "Arse. I've been buying phones from you for 2 years. And not cheapo phones okay? AT LEAST 400 quids each ! Not buying from O2 anymore next time!"

I have no signal from Digi or Giffgaff at all once I reach Dubai and Malaysia. How to call?

And so, I tried unlocking my phone on my own. And failed miserably. I got to the point where I managed to unlock the bootloader. But I forgot to backup my phone. All my data, pictures etc are wiped. I took so many pictures of my boyfriend because I'm coming home for a few months and there, all gone! :O

I'm so NOT an internet savvy.

Cried so badly because all my pictures are gone. Google didn't even back up my photos. :'(

PS: Internet in Malaysia is shit. Wanted to play Warframe but I can't join any sessions because ping is too high. Wth.

PPS: On a good note, I was greeted by 6 dogs, their poo and pee (which I accidentally stepped on with bare feet) and a pack of Yong Tau Fu noodles in the kitchen when I woke up. Life is good, except for the phone and O2 part. Feels like slapping them upside down.

Been too busy

Yes, once again, the title says it all.

Haven't been able to blog very recently because I have been rather busy. But I'm quite glad that the previous blog post on Jonker Walk have reached out to quite a few of my friends and my friend's friends. LOL. (Wanted to say strangers because I don't know them at all but it doesn't sound very nice. But thank you to everyone who said I was brave. Not being brave. I used to write so many essays, whether in BM or English, challenging people's views etc. The post on Jonker is just like another essay, filled with my views. People are entitled to their own opinion, okay? )

I have been staying in Fallowfield recently, being locked up in a room without my laptop because my boyfriend insists that I should be studying. Such a nice boyfriend. No, I mean it. I'm not being sarcastic Lol.

I am currently typing this on my Nexus 4 (best phone ever. Even better than the S2) and would not be able to blog anytime soon, at least until after I'm back in Malaysia after the 17th. :D

Jonker Walk

I'm pretty outdated when it comes to receiving news back home. But after constant strolling and checking through Facebook, I actually found out that rumours regarding the closure of Jonker Walk is true ! The horror !

I have been reading news after news after news on MalaysiaKini, Yahoo news etc and most of them are about the retaliation of BN because most of the Chinese voters support the opposition during GE13. Honestly, that might not be true so I wouldn't be commenting on it. But, if the Chief Minister is actually punishing us, Chinese voters by closing down Jonker Walk, then, bravo! You've probably earned yourself more haters and can start preparing to step down from your post because the Chinese voters would definitely not vote for you at all in the future. It would be fine if Jonker is closing due to the horrible haze back home. But judging from situation, it's unlikely that the closure is due to the haze.

What is true, though, is that Jonker Walk is closing down due to the intense traffic jams that us, Malaccans, face every Friday and during the weekends. With all due respect, please, for goodness sake, close down the entire shopping centres. There's so much jam along the road to Mahkota Parrade, Dataran Pahlawan and Hatten Square that it's just impossible to escape the jam at night and during peak hours. While we're at that, close down the night markets as well, because they cause horrible jams in residential area. We need peace and quiet in residential areas. Thank you ! Also, we don't really need night markets. We can buy food from supermarkets such as Tesco, Jusco, etc. Close Bei Zhan too. It's always jam on the road along Bei Zhan because it is just impossible to find parking areas there.

Jonker Walk has been a tradition in Melaka for 13 years. 13 whole years! It's the culture of Melaka. Heck, Jonker Walk is a heritage. Sure, they don't sell that great stuff but most of the items sold there are traditional items. Without all these items, do you think I would know what my grandfather used to scratch his back with back in the old days? Without Jonker, I wouldn't even know how the 'Kok Kok Sweets' are made. I wouldn't even be standing in Jonker and admiring the way the Chinese uncle knocks on the sugar and making them into sweets.

And without Jonker Walk, do you think tourists would actually enjoy going to Geographer's Cafe, admiring the view and the tradition of Melaka while sipping a pint of beer? Yes, Jonker is operated by Chinese people. But that's because back in history, Jonker Street and Heeren Street (road next to Jonker) are home to Chinese people brought in by British. It's the same with Little India, where most Indians resides. However, my friends and I have never categorized Little India and Jonker Walk as strictly Indian and Chinese places. We enjoy the different culture in Melaka. That's what makes us unique. We don't need Chinatowns or Curry Mile, for a specific race, like what we have here in Manchester, UK. Melaka itself, although a really tiny state, has everything already. And yes, we have only Malay places in Melaka too. Klebang is definitely where all Malay people operate their business. And it IS a great place! The famous Coconut Shake, cencaluk and dried seafood are from Klebang. Would we even get cencaluk or taste the authentic taste of vanilla and coconut blended shake without all these Malay people? I'm not saying that races are divided in Melaka. It's all the different parts of Melaka which contains different traditions, cultures and heritage that makes it unique. It's the same as Portuguese Settlement in Melaka, where all the Portuguese people live. It's not a racist place, it's just a place which is unique to a specific culture. Even so, everyone still lives together in harmony, enjoying the different things that makes each races unique.

I have been checking the Melaka facebook page to keep myself up to date. I have also been going through Idris Haron's (the Melaka new Chief Minister and also the one who decided to close down Jonker Walk) facebook page because there are also rumours that the closure has been withdrawn. Couldn't find any news about that, by the way. So I guess Jonker Walk is definitely going to be closed down.

After reading a few posts on Idris Haron's facebook page, I dare say that my blood pressure has probably risen to a critical level. All those racist comments ! Yeah, you can say that Najib has been implementing One Malaysia and that we should not be racists. You can say that Chinese and Indian people are racists and that Malays aren't. That's bullshit ! All those racist posts are posted by Malays! I'm not being racist here, I have both Malay and Indian friends and I am actually close to all of them. I am actually, merely stating the fact. I even print-screened some posts down as evidence. Yes, I commented on them. Couldn't bear the racism. Please don't use the propaganda 'Satu Malaysia' or 'One Malaysia' when you are actually racist because you're just being hypocritical yourself!

There's no reason why I should give you privacy when you actually made your wall post public. (After 4 years of not writing in Malay, I am actually proud of myself when typing the message out. LOL)

I think that everyone should stop being so racist. Melaka isn't only for Chinese, Malays, Indian or Portuguese people. It's for everyone. Jonker Walk is important to our state's tourism. All of us live in the same place and we definitely want to improve our home. No living person would destroy their own hometown. Even animals take care of their own habitat. Don't you think humans are the same too? Before blabbing about any race's rights, perhaps you should learn how to be a better person and think about the country and the state first instead of your rights.

Maybe everyone should start practicing what they preach. I learnt that in high school but to be honest, not many people are really practicing this phrase. I know those who posted the Facebook posts above definitely aren't.

National Insurance Number

In one of my previous blog entries I mentioned that I want to search for a part-time job in UK. It's not that I'm poor or can't afford to stay here, it's just that I don't want my parents to work so hard paying for my expenses while I live a comfortable life here. I am a good and filial daughter, okay? Also, the minimum wage per hour in UK is so freaking high. 6.19 quid, which is equivalent to around RM30+ per hour. If you can find a job like this for me in Malaysia which doesn't involve selling drugs / betting tickets in nightclubs, go ahead and tell me. I'll be more than glad to earn that money in one hour.

Anyway, back to the point, I wanted to apply for a part-time job but in order to do so, I will need a national insurance number first. Anyone who wants to work in UK, regardless if it's part-time or full-time (not sure about prostitution LOL) needs a National Insurance Number. I first applied for it when I was selected to be a Student Ambassador for the University of Manchester. A Student Ambassador is a paid job and hence I would definitely need the National Insurance Number. Plus, I was lacking in documents for my DAS check, ~~which is super annoying and troublesome (UK has so many red tapes -.-")~~ and would therefore need a document with my own National Insurance Number to complete the check. A DAS check is basically a check which shows I have no criminal records and that I am entitled to work with kids and old people. After about a month plus and about £6+ spent on phone bills to call the centre to apply for it, my National Insurance Number finally came in the mail !

Letter stating my National Insurance Number. Pardon the date. I had to much stuff going on before I could blog. Plus, I haven't been checking my mailbox.

Well, after this, I am definitely able to work part-time in UK. But I became lazy and was too busy to apply for a job. I have so much to do before going back to Malaysia to enjoy the rest of my summer. LOL!

I can now kiss goodbye to earning AT LEAST 6.19 quid per hour. I am also currently kissing goodbye to the amount of money I have spent after Semester 4 exams. Freaking £285 spent excluding the £350 that I have to pay for summer accommodation. Wth. I'm not a good and filial daughter after all :(

Okay, shall start saving money from now own. Not spending more than £100 until I am back home in mid July!

PS: In regards to previous post, the annoying neighbour moved out. I shall now enjoy the three weeks of my time left in Manchester.

Of gratitude and rants

I'm still here in UK and I must say that Manchester's weather has been really shitty these days. Most of my friends are back in their hometown. I guess they brought all the sun and shine back with them. Seriously, which place rains in one minute, sunny the next and gloomy and windy right after? The weather now is almost the same during the beginning of spring when it rained, hailed and snow in a few minutes intervals. -.-" Make up your mind, dear Mother Nature. Stop changing so drastically. It's so annoying because my flats get ruined and drenched everytime I go out. It is usually sunny when I am heading out.

Besides the weather, I have quite a few things to rant about. I'll first start off with this neighbour of mine who is staying in halls. We've been neighbours for 2 years and to be honest, although I enjoy hall life a lot, I do not enjoy living next to this girl. Boyfriend calls her a bitch and was wondering how I put up with her for two years when he couldn't even bear her for less than a year. I always think it's mean to call people names but this time, I'll have to agree with him on this one.

For privacy sake, let's call her M. M is a smoker and I kinda think that she has dual personality. She always complains about noise, whether it's coming from the room above her, next to her (which is mine) or below her. Halls in UK somehow, have really thin walls and ceilings; I can even hear her phone vibrations from my room ! That's how thin and non-soundproof the walls are ! I don't blame her for complaining about noise and she 'complains' and lets me know I'm noisy by knocking on my wall. That's fine, of course. Because at least, I'll know that I might be disrupting her and tone down whatever I'm doing, listening to or watching. What's not fine is the excessive knocking that she makes. Whenever I'm using a hairdryer, she knocks. And no, it's not just a small, tiny knock. It's the kind of frantic knocking you will make when you think your friend is committing suicide in her/ his room or when you need to wake someone up because there's a fire and the house is going to be burned down. I wouldn't be bothered that much if it's just a once-in-a-while kinda thing. She even knocks when I open the door to my room ! Seriously, then what am I supposed to do? Teleport into my room with a portal since opening the door annoys you as well? I think the printer is rather loud but somehow, whenever I'm printing my notes, she doesn't seem to knock. Weird. So, for two years, I've been listening to music and watching videos at 6% volume (ie: 1 bar of sound out of 16 bars in my laptop). If any of you are using Acer laptops, you would know how soft the sound emitted from the device is. And she still knocks on the wall when the volume is ONLY 6% !!! How ridiculous is that?! I even resorted to using headphones and earphones all the time. I'm gonna blame her if I have hearing problems after this, 'cause I don't usually use earphones all the time.

I got so annoyed with her knocking that I went over to her room and knocked on her door. But no, she did not even dare to open her door and talk to me. Instead, she is always slipping notes under my door. -.-" I'd rather you come out and talk to me face to face. Thank you very much.

I was studying in my room this one time while boyfriend was almost falling asleep on the bed. No one makes any sound / noises when studying or sleeping. So obviously, the whole room was really quiet. And then, came a few loud knocks and boyfriend jumped awake immediately. And no, this is not the first time. It's been several times already ! Plus, whenever I'm studying (I need peace and quiet when I'm studying), she would talk and laugh so loudly that I can even hear her whole conversation. Literally. I have never knocked on her wall before and I resorted to knocking for the first time in my whole life because it was too annoying. I was trying to study for my exam, for goodness sake ! And no, instead of toning down, like what I usually do, she laughed and talked even LOUDER than before. I was so pissed and annoyed because I've been spending one year plus apologising to her for any 'noise' or 'sound' I made whenever she slipped notes or knocked on my wall. Instead of lowering her volume, like what any normal and responsible person would do, she proceeded to raise her volume even higher. Is that how you want to play the game now? How come it's okay for you to make sounds and noises but you find it annoying and rude whenever I make any sounds? She knocks when I'm calling home via Skype, knocks when I open the drawers to get my clothes and knocks even when I'm not making any sounds ! Honestly, sometimes, I think she's hallucinating. Boyfriend was so pissed with this that he was so tempted to go straight to her and ask her what her problem is. Managed to stop him because I think that although she's being annoying or acting like a person with bipolar disorder (She always says that I'm very quiet and hardly make any noise when I ask her if I'm noisy or if my laptop volume is too loud for her. I was being nice okay?), I shouldn't stoop to that level. I'm not that kind of person anyway. Besides, it's always better to not cause any problems and just apologize.

On Tuesday, boyfriend was woken up by loud laughs and conversations coming from M's room. He went ahead and knocked on my wall although I tried very hard to stop him from doing so. He said that I should learn how to stand up for myself and stop apologising to M because I'm not wrong. M then wrote a note and slipped it under my door (as usual -.-") to which my boyfriend picked it up. It reads

Hi, I don't understand why you feel you need to knock on the wall. It is 1pm, DURING DAYTIME HOURS, when it is perfectly normal and acceptable to socialise. It is really disrespecful and inconsiderate.

I see. So knocking on my wall when I'm making a long distance call home is respectful and considerate then? Or knocking on my wall when I'm watching movies and drama series or listening to music with only 6% volume is respectful and considerate as well? Stop being so hypocritical. I feel so tempted to just walk up to her and give her a piece of my mind but I did not. I should have given myself two tight slaps across the face for putting up and enduring all these nonsense. I even put up with her glaring at me in the dining hall during dinner. Wth. If I'm back in Malaysia, I would have scolded her upside down because this is not the way to treat other people. I'm only tolerating because my mum said that I should be nice to others eventhough they are not nice to me since I'm in a foreign land and this isn't a place where I belong. *sigh*

On a much happier note, my results came out yesterday and I am very happy and grateful that I passed both Semester 4 Exam and PEP. I missed 2 marks from the Honours grade for PEP. Why wouldn't the medical school be nice and just give me that 2 marks so that I will be able to have another Honours point? LOL! Thank God for everything ! I have been praying hard that I would pass my exams because I do not want to resit any papers.

I played a prank on my family mainly to get back at my mum because she played a prank on me. I have 6 dogs at home and she told me that Milo and Snowy ran out from home because daddy left the gate open when he came home drunk. He forgot to close the gate and both dogs ran out. Mummy said that both dogs went missing for a few days and she couldn't find them eventhough she and daddy searched everywhere for them. I was crying like mad in front of the screen and my exam was only a few days away. She made me cry for a good 20 minutes before carrying Milo and Snowy in front of the screen. Apparently daddy found both Milo and Snowy in a huge longkang in a Malay village near our house, being beaten up and limping. Some of the Malays probably beat my poor babies up (Malays have a thing against dogs. I don't know why). I wonder why people are so cruel towards animals. They're just dogs. And Milo is a poodle. What can a poodle do to you? Anyway, mummy left out the whole part on how daddy found Milo and Snowy just to see my reaction. I was already sobbing like mad then. I couldn't even talk properly. -.-"

Since my results are out and my mum is so concerned on whether I passed or failed my exam, I told her I missed by a few marks via my family Whatsapp group chat. I called home a few minutes later to my sister's voice. She told me my mum was really angry because she thought I failed. She even refused to speak to me on the phone ! Wth. She didn't even care if I was making a long distance call and that my call credit is being deducted while I kept pestering my sister to tell mummy I wanna talk to her. She was really angry ! LOL ! Mummy finally answered the phone and proceeded to scolding me upside down. Being an Asian, she nagged and said "I told you not to be in a relationship but you refused to listen to me anyway. Look at your results now!" I laughed and said I missed a few marks to Honours and that I passed my exams. She proceeded to scolding me even more. -.-" She said, "Is it so funny to play pranks like this? Bla bla bla *inserts more scolding*"

Mental note: Never play a prank using exam results if you have Asian parents because you'll just end up with more scolding. LOL !

Pain

Disclaimer: This is gonna be a short mini rant. :)

There's all kinds of pain in this world - physical pain, emotional pain etc.

And in this whole week (I know it's only Tuesday, I'm referring 'this whole week' to the last 7 days), I have felt both.

I went for paintball with SF friends earlier today, because we had a decent deal in Groupon, or at least we thought we had until we arrive at the paintball arena in Bolton and found out the hidden fine prints which weren't mention in the deal. We all had so much fun, although the indoor paintball game is so much different from the match I used to play in high school. Reminiscing the good old times ! :D

Instead of just being shot once, each of us got shot multiple times, some more than others. LOL ! I came back with bruises everywhere but it was worth it !

Boyfriend and I were on opposing teams and that damn bastard gave me two shots on my arm, from a close range ! If anyone out there says that white people are very gentleman, they aren't when it comes to paintball. He even tried scaring me by saying that he will be watching out for me during the game. But I got my revenge back because Darren shot him a few times. Such a pity I couldn't shoot him myself because he was hiding and I can't even recognize anyone behind the paintball masks and attire. Everyone looks the same. Would love to post pictures up but I didn't take any and my friends who took it have not uploaded any photos yet. :/

You know how they say that when you see someone you care about suffering, or in pain, you'll feel the pain too? It is so true ! Seeing him work his ass off to earn money to pay for his accommodation isn't easy. He has to clean stadiums after event from 10pm to 8am or sometimes, 10pm to 10am. Yes, while everyone is busy sleeping or partying outside, he is getting a backache from all the cleaning and sacrificing time out with friends to earn money.

And all that just because he wants to be independent without relying on his mum for money. I respect him a lot for that. It's not easy to work, study, hang out with friends occasionally and be in a relationship at the same time but he's managing all of these fairly well. Everytime I look at him, I am reminded of my dad. They're both exactly the same. And it hurts to see both of them work so hard without being able to do anything. :'(

Praying that things will work out for him one day. He definitely deserves it.

PS: Okay, maybe this is a not-so-short mini rant after all. LOL! :P

Spring is almost gone and summer is coming ! Manchester's weather has been really good these few days. It's been sunny and all :D I've been out enjoying the sun so much. The cool weather outside pretty much makes up for the scorching heat blazing from Mr. Sun above. If I'm back in Malaysia, I doubt I'll be enjoying the sun as much. Too. freaking. hot. Sorry, Mr. Sun. You're still loved <3

Went out on a date in Whitworth Park since boyfriend was done with his second last paper today :D It's been a long time since we've been out strolling and lazing around in a park. Kinda wish that we have parks like these in Malaysia as well. Why chop down those trees to make roads, when we can have beautiful parks? Whyyyyy? At least, we have mini man-made waterfalls in Melaka. That's good enough I guess :/

Since I'm still here in UK and not having much to do, I'm actually thinking of searching for a part time job. But I have no idea where to start. I'm an international student after all. It's always harder for international students to look for a job in UK. :'( The pay here is so high though, compared to the RM4-5 per hour pay back in Malaysia. Minimum wage here is 6.19 quid per hour. That's equivalent to RM30 per hour ! So much money ! :D

Crossing fingers that I'll be able to get a job soon :)

Post Exams

The title says it all.

After one whole month of living through the same routine (ie. sleep, eat, study, repeat), I am finally free from exams ! Year 2 in medical school is no joke ! It's even tougher than Year 1. I have never felt stupid before 'til I started attending medical school. So people out there who are super smart and wants a challenge, welcome aboard to medicine. The stress and workload are already enough to kill you :/

All these aside, loads of stuff have been happening throughout my exam revision period, which I (obviously) did not have time to blog about. I'll summarise everything here:

I was really upset about Malaysia's 13th General Election. It's all kinds of unfair and injustice. I was watching the election and following the live results (not to mention, hitting the 'refresh' button time and time again because traffic was so heavy that day) intensely. I even skipped church anniversary for that. What upset me the most was the part where the blackout happened and a few more bags of ballots were brought in. How is this even fair? What's great about the outcome of GE-13 is Malaysians were more united. The government can start throwing in racism issues and blaming the Chinese people for their loss but deep down, we all know that regardless of our race,we, Malaysians will stand united as one. The amount of people changing their profile picture on Facebook right after the results of GE-13 was announced was just amazing. Black profile pictures were seen within seconds and minutes of the results. I do not even need to mention about the rally in Stadium Kelana Jaya as well as in other states. So proud of the people in my country. What my godfather said last time was true,

'Malaysia is a beautiful country, with beautiful people. It's the government which isn't that great.'

Throughout the whole month of revision, I have not been seeing him, only once in 1.5 weeks. It was horrible ! Wanted to spend time just hanging out with friends / boyfriend but I couldn't afford to sacrifice the time spent for studying. Back in high school and college, I am still able to get good grades by studying last minute. This is impossible in medical school. Have to start revising AT LEAST one month before. *Sigh*

I am currently selected to be a Student Ambassador for University of Manchester. Had to go through assessments during revision period but it was worth it. I'll be paid, yo ! It's per hour according to UK minimum wage. Not a lot, but oh well. Kinda need money because I felt really guilty spending and living off my parent's money. I have no idea how I can manage both being a Student Ambassador and being in Year 3 next year, but by God's grace, I'm sure something will turn out well :)

I am so proud of myself for being so disciplined. I printed out all my notes and everything I need for revision. And locked my laptop up in a large suitcase right after I'm done. Self-restriction and self-determination, yo ! Had to get rid of all distractions so I can focus on studying. This also explains why I have not been blogging at all.

And now, fast-forwarding to post exams, I have been so free that I can literally spend the whole time playing games. I have been playing Warframe and L4D2 from morning til night. And by morning til night, I am referring to when I wake up til when I go to sleep. My sleeping hours have been so messed up (unlike during revision period when I was so disciplined) that I have been sleeping at ungodly hours of 6-8am and waking up around 4-5 pm. Have to start living a healthy life and get up + sleep early like what normal human beings do. LOL.

Also, because boyfriend is still having exams,I have been visiting him only when he's free. Stayed over last night because he wanted a break from studying (but mainly because he was too lazy to walk me home) and had so much fun with him. It's been a long time since we last spent time laughing like crazy people and talking to each other. We both even drank a few bottles of beer. I had three bottles while he had four. He was trying to open the bottles with a table. It was hilarious ! This guy never fails to make me laugh ! He even watched while I played Warframe (and laughed at how bad I suck in the game -.-"). I even managed to make him take funny photos ! Pretty good achievement, since it's not always we both take photos together :D

Malaysia's Election

Okay, I'll admit. It's been ages since I've last blogged and now that I'm here again, I'm talking about the elections. Fishy, no?

No. Because I'm currently taking a break from writing the ~~damn~~ portfolio that every medical students, foundation doctors and doctors will have to complete. I could go on more about the portfolio but this post is supposed to be about the elections.

So, going back to the topic, I am currently a student studying in UK and have turned 21 years old, as of February 16. I know that this current General Election is one of the heated, biggest and most-talked-about election ever in history, since BN last won the last General Election during Independence Day. (No idea if I got my facts right, since I'm pretty lousy when it comes to history. History is not my field of interest at all :/) I know that I have the chance to vote (since I'm 21) and could make a difference in changing the future of Malaysia.

But, all of you don't have to keep asking me if I'm voting. And when I replied no, the next question would be

"Why not? It's your country leh. Other people want to vote but they've not turned 21 yet. You're 21 but you're not even playing your part."

I don't necessarily have to vote to be a good citizen in Malaysia. If I'm currently back home in Malaysia, I would definitely vote. But I'm not. And in case you don't know, I would have to travel all the way down to London just to vote. Plus, I have no idea how to register as a voter. LOL. So, going to London includes:

At least a £40 worth of return train ticket (AT LEAST, okay. It is definitely going to be higher since it's a last minute ticket instead of one booked a few weeks / months in advance)
Time consumed since the train journey is about 3 hours +
Not being able to finish revising for PBL
Not being able to complete or at least finish some parts of portfolio
Not being able to finish up the references for PEP poster
Troubling a friend, who might be busy preparing for examinations or rushing for assignments, in order to stay at his/her place
Getting lost - since I've not been to London before. Don't judge :P

So, before anyone start lecturing on why I'm not voting for GE13, just think from my side. It's a huge hassle to go all the way to London just to vote while if I'm back in Malaysia, I can easily just drive to the voting center and drop a ballot into a box. I'm pretty sure if you're in my situation you wouldn't go through all that trouble about voting as well. That is unless you're really passionate about the current General Election, lah (Not saying that I'm not).

I've also noticed A LOT of notifications about the elections on my Facebook news feed. No joke. My news feed is being flooded with a whole long list of political stuff every single day - obviously even more now since the elections are just next Sunday.

I see a lot of negative posts popping up about Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat. More on Barisan Nasional, though, since everyone is probably pretty sick of all the fake promises and the downwards spiral of the country under their ruling.

But then again, I wouldn't even know if everything posted is true. I'm not even in Malaysia at the moment. And social media always tends to exaggerate and distort the truth. How to believe, tell me ? If simply believe in what the social media says and vote for the wrong party, how ?

Which is why I'm not voting, as simple as that. No hassle, no trouble. And I won't be responsible for destroying Malaysia's future if I voted for the wrong party. LOL

To be honest though, I am hoping that PKR will win the current election. Say what you want, but they have definitely proved their capability of improving Malaysia by improving Penang and Selangor. From two states which are in debt, these two states are currently making profit ! And all these in only a short period of less than 5 years ! Probably after 55 years of ruling, BN needs to be toppled down to know that corruption and experience isn't everything when it comes to ruling a democratic country.

Out of the hundreds and thousands of posts I've seen on Facebook, this one catches my attention. Namewee, known for speaking the truth, despite getting into trouble with the government after that (Freedom of speech, okay? If you don't want people to talk about the bad stuff you do, don't do it. As simple as that. The government should start understanding this simple phrase.), has been collaborating with the rappers of different races in Malaysia to create a song for GE13. Unity demonstrated in a song: Time to #UBAH ! :D

And to end this post, I'll start being patriotic and post up a Malaysian flag for all of you guys to admire. :D

AIESEC Conference got postponed to February !!!

Okay, this isn't something I should really be happy about cause we (the ER team of AIESEC Manchester) are actually pouring out our blood and sweat (not literally, okay!) to make this conference a success. But I'm really glad I have time to cope up with PBL and anatomy work from medical school #lifeofamedicalstudent.

To be honest, juggling AIESEC work, medical school work, church, socials, dating, and hanging out with friends isn't easy. Too much work, too little time. And now I shall use the term that all Malaysians will use when they're facing a problem:

Can die, man !

But, (yes, there will ALWAYS be a but) at least I'm trying. I think I need to sleep more. I'm sacrificing sleep because of work. The Kwee Yen back in high school would just sleep and deal with all the work later. Missing sleep so much !

And now, it's time to head to dreamland cause I'm really sleepy and I can't be bothered to do work.

Just realised I haven't been blogging for quite some time ! I haven't had the time to, really.

I was so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so busy ever since I came back here !
Let me start with what I've been busy with.

1. AIESEC

"Manchester, the best in here !"
That's the chant for the LC (Local Committee) in Manchester. :) I've been busy attending AIESEC meetings regularly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I even attended a 3-day (M)AXIS conference in Long Eaton, Nottingham. It was AMAZING ! I'm not joking. It was, literally, one of the best moments of my life (although I had to suffer catching up with PBL and anatomy and performing well for my mid-semester test because of it). We had a superhero-themed party which was really fun ! I did not have any costume prepared but the rest of us managed to go as something really stupid. All it took was a few face crayons. I went as cupid ! This was one of the very few moments I would actually allow someone to draw something on my face. It wasn't that bad. It looked pretty cool, having hearts ♥♥♥♥♥♥ drawn all over my face. Imagine if I'm a real cupid. I would be spreading love everywhere ! LOL

And there was a gala dinner the next night too, where everyone had to dress up formally. I've always enjoyed formal events because I get the chance to look pretty ! LOL ! Come on, it's not always I get the chance to put on makeup (yes, I don't put makeup on usually because I'm a really lazy person), wear a beautiful dress and a nice pair of heels. And, it's not always that guys put on ties and wear a suit. I think guys look way better in formal attires than in any other attires. :D

I've learnt quite a lot from the conference. AIESEC really is a great society to be in. I've met so many people from AIESEC and had the opportunity to work with them as well. You'll be surprised how challenging it is to work with people from all over the world and from all walks of life !

Discussion time

Even after attending conference, I'm still busy with AIESEC stuff. This time, we're organising a conference instead ! There's so much work to do just for a 2-hour conference. The workload is crazy ! It's so hard to contact companies and invite them to speak in the conference. Getting sponsorships from them is even harder ! I'm sure, by God's grace, that this conference will be successful. God, please let this be a success *prays*.

2. Church and Sunday School
I'm more involved in church this year ! I volunteered to be part of the AV (Audio Visual) team and worship team. And I'm still a full-time Sunday School teacher. My Sundays are usually packed from morning til 4pm. Apart from that, I have to be in for worship practices as well. But, I'm not complaining, cause I really enjoy being able to serve God. I enjoy spending time in church. It feels like home ! :)

3. PBL and Anatomy

Semester 3 in Medical School is hectic ! I'm learning bout neuro and musculoskeletal system this semester. The cases are tough and ~~a hassle~~ a lot of research needs to be done for each case. So much to learn in just one case !

And there's two anatomy sessions as well : Anatomy A and Anatomy B. There was only one anatomy session last year. Still, I'm not complaining. I think Anatomy B has been really helpful.

And now, I shall be a nerd and post up bits and parts of what I've been studying so far. HAHAHAHAHA

4. Swimming !

I'm making it a point to swim at least once or twice every week. I'm currently swimming every Tuesdays, after PBL sessions. Swimming is good for me. I need to exercise ! I'm getting sick of running on a treadmill because it's boring. I like being in water. Plus, I get to exercise both my arms and legs at the same time. LOL Diet plan is finally working out ! :D

I remember making a resolution that I'll blog at least once in two weeks. Kinda fail so far. LOL. But I'm still trying to keep to my resolution. I love writing and this is the only place I can write freely and easily, without the need of carrying a book and a pen around. :) So, will definitely have to try to find the time to write something here more often.

Flying Into The Past

So, here it is again. The time when tears are shed. The time when hugs are exchanged. The time when goodbyes are said. The time to leave home and move forward in life as we go through another year in uni. The time when parents, friends, family and pets are left behind back in our own hometown. The time when I fly back 8 hours in time.

Wishing my friends and family goodbye again seems harder than it was last year. Here I am, back in Manchester, UK, but it seems as though I've left my heart back in Malaysia.

Sometimes, I wonder why I put myself through this. Just study in Malaysia and stay close to home. Plus, it's cheap too ! But no, I had to apply to study overseas, take a 14/15-hour flight and go home only once a year. Stupid, no?

If it isn't because the university degree from the UK is better for medicine, I would've remained in Malaysia. Why? Because leaving your loved ones behind are painful.

Thank God for technology, though. If it wasn't because of Whatsapp, Viber, Facebook, Skype etc, it would've probably been harder to communicate with everyone back home and with my closest friends, scattered all around the world. :)

Being back in Manchester isn't really great at all, actually. It's really gloomy here. :'(

Sure, I have friends. But there's also a lot of stuff to unpack. My seven boxes of things just came back from the storage today.

Carrying them up the stairs to the reception and up again to the first floor where my room is, is like my exercise of the day already. I was panting by the end of the 7th box. Talk about lousy stamina -.-"

And then there's about 6 boxes in my friend's place as well. Bah. So much to do, but so lazy at the same time.

Oh well, at least I don't have to use a T-shirt to dry myself up and sleep without a blanket and bedsheet because they were in the storage.

Second year as a medical student in Manchester, here I come ! Please treat me well. :)

PS : Sorry for not being able to fulfill my resolution and post a blogpost at least once every two weeks. My laptop was down and sent for repair.

Saying Goodbye

How hard can it be to say goodbye? Why can't we just say goodbye, turn our backs and walk away, since we'll see one another next time anyway?

Well, it's definitely not easy. Three goodbyes in just a short span of two months. :'( That's pretty tough. Before I could even shed a tear seeing those close to me leave my side to a faraway land, another person leaves. Boo. *cries* Life sucks, sometimes.

So who exactly have I said goodbye to?

My twin, Wen Hao and I ♥

This is my twin. We're not exactly related by blood. We're just best friends. Best friends with the same birthday and the same age. I came back to Malaysia during mid June and he left in mid July. How unfortunate. :'( We only had one month to spend together. One month, minus the JPA pre-briefing stuff he has to do, him going off to Muar to visit a friend and him going off to stay with his aunt in Subang. And, to make matters worse, I can only see him once a year (because I am only flying back from the UK once a year *sigh*).

But nevertheless, he's still my best friend. And it's sad to see him go. Yes, we only had a month together too :'( Oh yea, Joel and Wen Hao are best friends too. It's usually the three of us hanging out together, just like the Three Musketeers (minus the big hat and moustache. And I'm not a guy).

Now, with those two gone, life is kinda quiet. My best friends up in Selangor could only come down during the weekends. With those two gone, there isn't any late night mamaks and random hangouts anymore during the weekdays anymore. :'(

There's more. With just a blink of an eye, my brother is gone too. My best-est friend who knew so much about me from young, he's gone as well. Saying goodbye to him is the hardest. It's like ripping a part of me out when I saw him walk through the airport gates. :'(

I almost cried in the airport. Almost... until my brother sent me a text saying 'There's a Dutch girl sitting in front of me. She's hot.' -.-" I guess old habits die hard. My tears managed to crawl back into my eyes. LOL. Stupid, retarded brother :D

But oh well, at least we've made lots of memories together before he left. Take a look at these :)

I guess, saying goodbye is really hard after all. It brings tears to my eyes everytime. And I know I'll have to say goodbye to my friends and family very soon as well :'( It's sad when you see someone's back walking away from you as you wave goodbye to them. It's sad giving someone a hug, knowing it'll be the last hug for this year.

I am gonna miss everyone who's left. Just hoping that they'll be enjoying their life overseas. There's always a hello with every goodbye, and vice versa.

I was all over the place, visiting friends and relatives, sending friends away (boo :'( ), travelling with my family and of course, FOOD ! How can someone be a Malaysian and not eat as much food as possible?

But anyway, since I'm running short of time, I would only write about my resolution:

To post at least one post every two weeks

I felt like I've abandoned my blog for ages. :/ That's why I aim to hold on to this resolution. And besides, I am very sure there would be stories to tell. Two weeks is quite a length of time after all. :)

Stating the obvious: I haven't been blogging lately. My Tumblr and Blogger blogs are so dead ._.

Exams are finally over ! (Actually, they were over bout 2 weeks ago. :/ )

I have been wasting my life during the holidays. For the past two weeks, all I've managed to accomplish is finishing a few Korean dramas. LOL. One whole drama in 1.5 days !

You must admit that that's ~~a really stupid way to spend the holidays~~ kinda cool :D

Of course, my life doesn't just revolve around Korean dramas. I know how to enjoy myself too ! I've been travelling as well.

Went for a one-day trip to York with a few of my friends. York is more of a country compared to Manchester.

No idea what this place is called :/

I know Diagon Alley is in London. But this looks so much like it :O

York is nice. But...too.much.walking -.-" Walked til my leg was super pain, okay? I was literally limping towards the end of the journey. Oh, I went to Betty's too ! It was highly recommended by all my friends. It was an amazing experience there. Betty's is an English tea shop. You know the kind of tea shops you read in English books and see in older English movies? Yeah, that's the kind. Difference is, this is a more modern and cooler version. :D

And that's how English people drink tea. :)

Because my friends were so smart (we went at 6am and left at 9pm), we had so much time that we even walked around the whole of York. We saw the National Railway Museum too !

Coming up next is Lake District. This is the MOST BEAUTIFUL place I've ever seen. If you ever want to go for a retreat or to relax, I would definitely recommend this place. It's so serene, tranquil and calm. And the scenery is just amazing ! My friend and I took the cruise and it was the best 45 minutes of my life. I would go back to Lake District again one day. :) I'll let you judge the place by yourself.

HAHAHAHA

I'll go there every season just to enjoy the scenery. :D

I have been watching the drama City Hunter a few days back (Yes, I know. I'm supposed to be studying *rolls eyes*). I can't help it. I am so in love with Lee Min Ho that I'm so determined to watch all the shows he acted in. (And I've watched Boys Over Flowers and Personal Taste LOL)

And now, I'm obsessed with City Hunter and with how hot he looks in the show. Can't take my eyes off from him ._.

Have been listening to the OST soundtrack the whole day.

Here I am, back to blogging once again. I've decided to close down my previous blog and start a new one instead.
(And by doing that I lose all my followers -.-" )

But, anyway, Welcome To My New Blog :D

It's May. The season for exams. I hate the sight of my room during this season - super messy. My table's fully covered with books. And there are papers everywhere.

I feel like I'm turning into a nerd. So much to study. (Why did I choose to study Medicine? *sigh*)

It's weird, though. Although I'm in university now, I don't feel the pressure to sit down and revise properly. I kept getting distracted by Facebook, Twitter, Glee, How I Met Your Mother, and Temple Run. Temple Run is so addictive ! And it's a wrong move to download it. Couldn't stop playing now :S

Okay, back to studying now :'(
