Balangir district is famous for its natural beauty and the tribal establishment. Indira Gandhi Park is established over an area of 10.00 acres of land in central part of Bhubaneswar where Old Bus Stand, Secretariat and State Assembly is in close proximity. Earlier this space was being used for parade ground of Bhubaneswar city, and where Late Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi had delivered her last public speech on 30th October, 1984. Latter the Park was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi on October 31st 1988 in name of Indira Gandhi and was dedicated to the public with a bronze made statue of Smt. Indira Gandhi designed and sculptured by Russian sculptor.

Kedar Gauri Temple meant for Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati at Old Bhubaneswar ,

Kedar Gauri Temple, where Lord Shiva is being worshipped at Old Town of Bhubaneswar is more popular and famous for its folklore about a lover couple named Kedar and Gauri dedicated their lives for their love. As per the myth , they were in love of each other and decided to marry but the then tradition of the society was against that marriage, so they leave village and during journey Gauri felt hungry, so Kedar went for food and was killed by a tiger as the place was full of dense forest in that time. Later Gauri jumped into the pond which still exists in this place as Kedar Gauri Pond. After this tragic event The then king of Utkal, Lalatendu Keshari knowing this made a temple named Kedar Gauri for their memory meant of God Kedareswar and Goddess Parvati. Since then people show their homage for them and many lovers come here to pray for happy married life without any obstacles.

By the side of the temple there is so called Kedar Gauri Pond which is a perennial stream and having some medicinal property, is divided into two and named as Khira Kunda ( Khira – Milk, Kunda – Pond) and another Marichi Kunda . The water of Khira Kinda is milky in colour and assumed hygienic and digestive for which it is taken to different places for drinking purpose. The water of Marichi Kunda is sold on Asokastami day by auction and taken by sterile women who want to conceive.

As per Kapila Samhita, a single swallow of the holly water from this pond will be bestowed with Salvation means he/ she will be escape from the repeated cycles of birth and death.

The temple is situated only a distance of 40 meters from National High Way headed to Puri in right side, near to the Mukteswar Temple.
