According to Square Enix, the "Tomb Raider" video game franchise, which spun-off two feature films starring actress Angelina Jolie, has sold over 35 million units.

Legendary Enters The "World of Warcraft"

Filmmaker Duncan Jones, director of "Moon" and "Source Code" will next take on a big screen adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment's "World Of Warcraft" for Legendary Pictures.

Set in the game worlds of the continents 'Azeroth', 'Kalimdor', 'Northrend' and 'Pandaria', "World of Warcraft" is Blizzard's massively multi-player online role-playing game (MMORPG) involving the completion of quests, with rewards for the player after a combination of points, items and in-game money.

Quests also allow characters to gain access to new skills and abilities, usually by killing a number of creatures, gathering a certain number of resources, visiting specific locations and interacting with objects in the world.

Game elements include fantasy, steampunk and science fiction, with gryphons, dragons, elves, steam-powered automata, zombies, werewolves, time travel, spaceships and alien worlds.

"Ghost Recon" Aims For The Big Screen

Video games publisher Ubisoft and their Motion Pictures unit, under Jean-Julien Baronnet, are pitching studios to option Ubisoft's "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon" games franchise for a series of feature film adaptations. Ubisoft's Motion Pictures unit currently has studio deals based on their most popular games, with Michael Fassbender attached to star in and co-produce "Assassin's Creed" and Tom Hardy to star in "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell".

"Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon", a tactical shooter introduced in 2001, developed by Clancy's Red Storm Entertainment and published by Ubisoft, positions the player in charge of a squad of US Army Special Forces operators from Company D, 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (5th SFG), aka 'The Ghosts', stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina :

"...in April 2008, with civil unrest in Russia, ultra-nationalists have seized power with plans to rebuild the Soviet Union. Their first step is clandestine support of rebel forces in Georgia and the Baltic States. Alarmed by the threat, the US deploys the Ghosts into Georgia to stop the Russians. "Aliens: Colonial Marines" - In Search Of 'Ellen Ripley'

Sneak Peek the new story trailer, from the upcoming SEGA video game "Aliens: Colonial Marines". The game, 7 years in development, springboards from characters and events established in director James Cameron's 1986 feature "Aliens".

"'Aliens' is one of the most influential science fiction properties of all time," said Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox Software.

"Designed as an interactive successor to the landmark films from Twentieth Century Fox, this is a dream project about which our studio is deeply committed and passionate."

"Aliens: Colonial Marines" allows the player to control four 'Colonial Marines', each with a different personality and primary weapon.

Additional weapons include a flamethrower, 'pulse rifle', 'smartgun', pistol and various types of grenades.

The player controls one marine at a time, issuing orders to others using 'context-sensitive' commands, able to switch between characters at any time.

Players can also control particular locations using tactical positioning and turrets to fend off attacks.

Primary enemies in the game are 'Aliens' that will attempt to outflank the player, forcing the use of tactical combat.

Several different types of Aliens will appear and attack differently, with 'Facehuggers' attempting to attach themselves to the player character's face.

'Warrior Aliens' are the primary enemies, based on the designs of artist HR Giger, established in the "Alien" feature films.

'Scouts' are faster and will spy on the player characters' activities. 'Drones' will primarily carry and position eggs and work into the heart of the 'Hive' serving the 'Queen'.

The story of "Aliens: Colonial Marines" is scripted by "Battlestar Galactica" writers Bradley Thompson and David Weddle.

"...A 'Colonial Marine' search and rescue team has been sent to investigate the 'USS Sulaco' in search of 'Ellen Ripley', 'Corporal Dwayne Hicks' and the rest of the missing marines who were dispatched to 'LV-426'..."

The development team also recreated the vehicles of the original films.

Concept artist Syd Mead, who worked on "Aliens", was hired to design areas of the Sulaco ship that did not appear in the film but will feature in the game.

"Aliens: Colonial Marines" will be released February 2013.

Grand Theft Auto V": Cinematic Trailer

The new game will be the first major title in the "Grand Theft Auto" series since "Grand Theft Auto IV" (2008), set in 'Los Santos' in the state of 'San Andreas' and its surrounding areas, based on modern-day Los Angeles and Southern California.

Rockstar has confirmed that "Grand Theft Auto V', planned to be their biggest open world game to date, will concentrate on "...the pursuit of the almighty dollar", with areas in the game world including beachfronts, mountains, the wilderness, a 'Salton Sea' region, military base, the suburbs and a fully detailed ocean floor.

The single-player mode is told through three criminal protagonists, 'Michael', 'Trevor' and 'Franklin', whose stories interconnect while completing missions together, in new vehicles including mountain bikes, road bikes, dirt bikes, cars, trucks, helicopters, planes, ATVs, jet skis and fighter jets.

Prepare To Storm "Castle Wolfenstein"

Panorama Media and Samuel Hadida have attached Academy Award winner Roger Avary ("Pulp Fiction") to write and direct a feature film adaptation of the video game franchise "Castle Wolfenstein".

The story will follow a young US Army Captain and a British Special Agent on a top secret mission to 'Castle Wolfenstein', where 'Der Führer' will be in attendance for the unveiling of a new secret weapon. After reaching the Castle, our heroes are confronted with the 'SS Paranormal Division' and must fight, not only for their survival, but for a mission that could alter the course of WWII.

"I’ve been playing the 'Wolfenstein' games since I was a kid," said Avary, "and feel that their outlandish sensibility has deeply influenced my own writing and directing throughout my career.

Hadida will produce through his Davis Films Productions, and global sales will be handled by Panorama’s Marc Butan and Kimberly Fox.

Robert Downey Jr. Answers The "Call Of Duty: Black Ops II"

Sneak Peek actor Robert Downey Jr. ("Iron Man" ) in an exclusive live-action cameo, for "Snatch" director Guy Ritchie's new trailer supporting the upcoming action adventure video game "Call of Duty: Black Ops II".

Written by David S. Goyer ("Batman Begins") and David Anthony, the game features the voices of Sam Worthington and Michael Rooker, with music composed by Trent Reznor and Jack Wall.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops II" will be available November 13th, 2012.

Fassbender Starring in "Assassin's Creed"

Ubisoft Motion Pictures have now secured their partnership with New Regency to produce a feature film adaptation of the Ubisoft video game series "Assassin's Creed", with actor Michael Fassbender ("X-Men: First Class") to star in and co-produce.

Ubisoft will finance the feature independently through their Ubisoft Motion Pictures (UMP) division led by former EuropaCorp CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet.

"Assassin's Creed: Revelations", the fourth game in the series is now available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Developed and led by Ubisoft Montreal with the support of Ubisoft studios Annecy, Massive Entertainment, Quebec, Singapore and Bucharest, "Assassin's Creed Revelations" is the culmination of the adventure of 'Ezio'.

"Delivering the final chapter of 'Ezio' was an important milestone in the 'Assassin's Creed' franchise for us and for our fans," said Alexandre Amancio, Creative Director @ Ubisoft Montreal.

Initially launched in 2007, the first three "Assassin's Creed" games have sold more than 28 million units worldwide. The first "Assassin's Creed", developed by Ubisoft Montreal, follows bartender 'Desmond Miles', captured by megacorporation 'Abstergo Industries'.

Using a machine known as the 'Animus', Desmond is forced to relive the memories of his ancestors, who were all assassins, in order to recover artifacts, called the 'Pieces of Eden'.
