On Sunday night, Allen Haywood was randomly and viciously attacked by two kids on the platform of the L’Enfant Plaza Metro station. Dozens of people witnessed it. Several people filmed it. Nobody helped.
Haywood was trying to transfer to the Yellow Line around 7:15 p.m. when the assault happened. He was headed home to Fort Totten after working out at Results on Capitol Hill, a gym bag slung over his shoulder and a book in his hands. As he read with his back to the station wall, “all of a sudden someone whacked me on the back of the head really hard,” he recalls.

Haywood turned around. The boy looked to be about 11 or 12 years old. Baffled, Haywood asked, “What the fuck are you doing?” The boy stood there laughing. Then someone else cracked Haywood from the other side. He turned around again. This time it was the girl in the video above. She didn’t stop swinging for more than a full minute, chasing Haywood around the platform as other kids egged her on.
As seen in the video, Haywood repeatedly asked the girl why she was attacking him, pleading with her to end it. “Stop it! Stop it! Goddamn it! You stop this shit right now! I did nothing to you!”
Haywood looked to strangers for help, but all he saw were other kids with their cell phones out, recording the scene and laughing. Judging from his voice-over, the man shooting the YouTube video above doesn’t appear to be part of the group. The video showed up yesterday on Unsuck D.C. Metro, which posted an anonymous account of the attack Tuesday.
“I can understand people not wanting to get physically involved,” says Haywood, who’s 47 and works in a Friendship Heights flower shop. "But nobody pressed the emergency button or went to the booth,” as far as he knows.
Haywood tried grabbing hold of the girl but she squirmed away. She grabbed his book, which had fallen to the ground, and threw it on the tracks below for no reason. All the while, the cell phones kept rolling.
“That may have been the whole point, if there is such a thing: 'Let's make a video,'" says Haywood. “They held them high, a pack moving together.”
Haywood finally got free and sprinted to the station booth. He banged on the glass and told the station manager to call 911. With gashes and blood on his face, he ran back to the scene of the attack, hoping the kids would be detained. The ones who’d delivered the beating were gone, but the kids who’d filmed it were still there – and they still had their cell phones in Haywood’s face, taunting him.
“How are you doing, sir?”
“Any comment, sir?”
One of them said if he paid them, they would give him video of the attack.
A Metro worker arrived on the scene and told Haywood to go upstairs. Haywood said he didn’t want to leave, because the kids had evidence of the attack and he wanted them questioned. The worker kept insisting, and Haywood relented. He still doesn’t know what happened to the kids.
A transit police officer arrived and took Haywood’s statement and photos of his damaged face. They tried to fish his book off the tracks but it was too close to the third rail. Haywood declined an ambulance. By the time he got home he had bruises all over his face and a knot on his head, though the bleeding had stopped.
“I was angry and I was shocked and I was hurt,” he says.
A detective assigned to the case told Haywood he’s trying to pull video of the attack from Metro station cameras. Haywood is hopeful they’ll be able to make a few identifications between the surveillance footage, the already-posted YouTube footage, and any other video that might spill out. A Metro spokesperson confirms that transit police are investigating the attack.
Haywood’s sister, Laura Haywood-Cory, says the video that surfaced disgusts her but she appreciates it as evidence. “I am both gratified and furious all over again, after having watched it,” she says. “I hate everyone who stood around and did nothing almost as much as I hate the people who did this to him.”
Yesterday afternoon Haywood returned to L’Enfant Plaza. He’s convinced the kids have attacked people before and that they’ll do it again – “or maybe worse,” he says – and he wanted warn people. Though he never thought he’d do such a thing, he drew up a sign. It read:
“I WAS ATTACKED AT L’ENFANT METRO SUNDAY AT 7:15 PM. NO ONE HELPED. PLEASE BE CAREFUL.”
Haywood held up the sign at the Metro entrance in silence for about 45 minutes during the afternoon rush hour, hundreds of strangers spilling past him and onto the escalators. He got a lot of sad looks, plenty of kind words, and even a few hugs.

Dead birds, dead fish, now 40,000 dead ‘devil’ crabs in Britain (video)
There has been a recent slew of wildlife dying in mass, including birds and fish in Arkansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Brazil, New Zealand, and Sweden. Over the weekend, another mass death occurred in Britain as thousands of crabs washed ashore.
About 40,000 Velvet or ‘devil’ crabs dotted British shores Sunday, according to The Guardian.
Experts believe the crab deaths and the New Zealand fish found dead in New Zealand's Chesapeake Bay are due to nothing more than record cold temperatures.
“We suspect that climate change and warmer weather has lured the crabs towards the shoreline,” said Coastal Warden Tony Sykes.
The other incidences of recent mass wildlife deaths are still being examined, however, the U.S. Geological Survey notes there may be as many as 16 cases in the last 20 years of larger numbers of blackbirds dying in mass.
Experts also note that fish kills are quite common and may be due to disease or human causes such as the dumping of hazardous waste.
Currently, scientists theorize the 5,000 blackbird deaths on New Year’s Eve in Arkansas were due to the birds becoming confused and frightened by fireworks.

haha.. they must think we are idiots, they were probably involved in this or this is us and just trying to aviod proper reasoning for massive death tolls. if its happened before, and is more recently increasing? as well as humans causing global warming and of course we are getting close to 7 billion beings soon so? as time passes more and more massive deaths will subside.. this will throw off the food chain creating more deaths from extinction, and future hazards in climate change.. oh not to mention people will eventually be fighting for normal food.. as of for now we are abundamt in it, later we will barely have enough to feed a fam.

1. The last of Teena Marie’s four albums for Motown, It Must Be Magic found the songstress continuing to do all of her own writing, producing, and arranging, with magnificent results. Irons in the Fire proved that she didn’t need the input of a big-name producer in order to deliver first-class albums, and Marie provided additional evidence of that fact on an album that offered such gems as the playful “Square Biz” (one of her biggest hits, and an early example of an R&B artist incorporating rap), the thought-provoking “Revolution” (inspired by the assassination of John Lennon and filled with references to the Beatles), and the gritty title song. Marie has periodically shown a strong love of jazz, which is exactly what happens on the ballad “Yes Indeed” and the sexy “Portuguese Love.” It Must Be Magic was Marie’s highest-charting album in the pop market, and thanks to a largely black following, the gold-seller just missed topping the R&B charts..

Review:

1. With her third album, Irons in the Fire, Teena Marie did something that was rare for a female R&B artist — she handled all of the producing and writing herself. Marie took on a lot of responsibility, and she knew she had done the right thing when the album became both a commercial and artistic triumph. By now, it was common knowledge that Marie was white, something that didn’t seem to matter much to the many black R&B fans who bought this recording. Like so much of her work, the irresistible single “I Need Your Lovin’” became a major R&B hit, but didn’t do much on pop radio. Interestingly, Marie was having the same problem as Maze & Frankie Beverly in that she could have a gold album without any help from pop audiences. But then, she obviously realized that she didn’t need their support in order to be legit. From the seductive “You Make Love Like Springtime” and the sweaty “First Class Love” to the moving title song, everything on this album is a gem.

2. This is music to heal your heart by. By the time she released this gorgeous soul gem, Lady T was finally starting to recieve the accolades she deserved. “I Need Your Lovin’” was an across the board smash and listening to the extended version on this LP is an even more rewarding experience than the edit usually heard on the radio; the funky bass line hanging naked in the air until the orchestra, Teena’s voice and guitar lick come sweeping in is one the most distinctive introductions in soul music. The mellow, laid back groove of “Young Love” cradles you in it’s arms and evokes not only memories of loves from one’s past, but also pleads for that passion to never fade away (‘why you wanna grow old on me now?’) and when the band speeds up the tempo after the second chorus you can’t resist nodding your head along. “First Class Love” and the ultra-passionate “Chains” are two more funky workouts that celebrate the all-encompassing love/lust/obsession we all have felt from being with the right man or woman; Teena also gets superb support from a tight backing band with the ability to switch gears at will. “Irons In The Fire” is a sublime, beautiful title song with a gently plucked harp, jazzy guitar and gradually rising string section behind Teena’s relaxed vocal and quietly determined lyrics about not giving up on love in her life. “You Make Love Like Springtime” is oustanding; its sprightly bassline, bossa-nova beat, jaunty horn arrangement and almost chanted vocals are all a treat for the ears, so don’t be suprised if you find yourself singing this song for a few days after you hear it! The one that trumps them all however, is the heartbreakingly beautiful “Tune In Tomorrow”, on this outright jazz tune, Teena and Co. stretch out to stunning effect. From it’s stark piano intro and hushed singing the song builds up to its first crescendo, stops and builds again, all the while guided by Teena’s tear-drenched vocal delivery.(Special Note: Listen and you can actually hear her crying and catch her breath as she sings, gradually working her way back up to the chorus.) This brilliant piece finally climaxes with some mind blowing scatting from our heroine and the band swinging behind her at breakneck speed, this is the most breathtaking moment on the album. A brief reprise of “You Make Love Like Springtime” closes out the set and features a harmonized background chorus of lyrics from Marvin Gaye’s classic “Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)”. The star, of course, is Ms. Marie’s incredible voice, an instrument unto itself. This is deeply satisfying, rewarding music from an underappreciated genius.

1. Teena Marie’s second album, Lady T, found her working with producer Richard Rudolph, husband of the late Minnie Riperton. Though not as strong as Wild and Peaceful, this decent but not essential release had many strong points and offered much evidence that she was a soul goddess to be reckoned with. The single “Behind the Groove” is a funk smoker, and “Could It Be Love” and “Aladdin’s Lamp” show how charming Marie can be. Rick James’ influence could still be felt, though it was clear that Marie had many impressive ideas of her own. Unlike Wild and Peaceful, Lady T showed Marie’s picture on the front cover — many of the fans she’d acquired were shocked to see that she was white.

2. A great little album from Teena – one that’s dedicated to the late Minnie Riperton (who’d passed during the previous year), and which is produced by Riperton’s husband/collaborator Richard Rudolph. Teena’s got more than a few of Minnie’s tricks up her sleeve on the best cuts, singing in a smooth sweet soulful style that makes for some of her best vocals on record at the time. Titles include “Aladdin’s Lamp”, “Now That I Have You”, “Can It Be Love”, “Too Many Colors”, and “Young Girl In Love”.

Security at crowded malls and supermarkets during peak business hours have always been a cause of major concern to authorities. Surveillance cameras and other hi-tech gadgets make no difference to determined thiefs on the prowl. And now adding to their woes are cross-dressers.
Imagine men dressed in burkhas robbing you off your valuables! Security officers are on their feet now, says a source at a hypermarket. Due to cultural sensitivity, even if victims raise an alarm, the suspects cannot be bodily searched, says another security personnel of a supermarket chain in Dubai.
Emirates 24|7 spoke to security officers at various malls. All of them confirm there has been an increase in the number of thefts as well as customer complaints.
Men dressed in abayas, with their face covered, cannot be identified even if they move around suspiciously. Gold chains, mobile phones and wallets are their preferred items, say security officers.
A security supervisor at a supermarket in Sharjah says such thefts happen mostly during peak business hours when the place is crowded. "Shop-lifters can be easily caught via electronic theft detectors, but what do you do with cross-dressers who steal customers mobile phones and wallets. Ignorant people are busy shopping and would not suspect 'Arabic' women rubbing shoulders with them."
This has led to many shopping centres recruiting women security officers, he says.
An officer at a supermarket in Sharjah says such people operate in gangs. Usually it's a network of atleast four. Unfortunately, many such cases go unreported, as people think they misplaced their personal belongings in a crowded mall.
According to a Lulu supermarket employee, their management has received several complaints from customers about pick-pockets and chain-snatchers inside the premises of late. "Our security officers closely monitor security cameras and, in fact, have spotted women in abayas moving about suspiciously. They show the clipping to customers who have been victims of theft, but unfortunately, none of them have so far identified any thief because only their eyes are visible."
Interestingly, there have been cases when empty wallets are discovered from the premises and in trolleys.
Security officers say the number of incidents are increasing because people hesitate from going to the police. Only if a case is filed with a police station can any action be taken, says a policeman.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said although no women have been been arrested in connection with armed robberies in the emirate, a number of men have been caught dressed in abayas and robbing residents.
In one incident in Abu Shagara in March, a Pakistani man, who had covered his face, was easily identified by police on his way from the flat he had robbed: he was wearing men's sandals with an abaya.

Biography:
Born and raised in the streets of Compton, California, Jerell Ray also known as Jaelife, rapidly realized that hip hop music would soon become more than just an ordinary hobby. Influenced by his second oldest brother, Steven Ray, also known as, VIP, Jaelife began writing and recording his own original material. All through Jr. High and high school Jae marvelously grasped the attention of his peers with his unique and incomparable style of rap.

After numerous years Jaelife began to perfect his God given craft as a hip hop writer/artist. In early 2000, at the age of 18, Jae and his brother VIP, also known as Steven Ray, formed their own independent company, entitled, "Allstarteam Entertainment." They then released their first ever recorded Ep titled "Frost Bit." After adding two more members of the family, the group began performing shows throughout the city of Los Angeles. Due to minor family infractions the Allstarteam took some much needed time off from the music. But this did not stop Jaelife. He continued to grind and perfect his skill as an emcee. For the next 3 years, Jae wrote and recoded well over hundreds of songs. In 2006, Jae dropped his first mixtape called "I still got it" hosted by Jenizez, Producer of Cityslickas Entertainment. The mixtape received great recognition amongst the underground m Holy Hip Hop (HHH) scene. Slowly, Jae was introduced into the game as one of the fiercest emcees. Since age 12, Jae has been crafting his own style and expertise in the art of rhyming. Through the years Jaelife has collaborated and been featured on some of HHH's most respected and recognized projects in the world. With the teaching of the Holy bible instilled in him by his Grandfather, Jae has always known that God is the ruler and the Savior of his life. Through His music, Jae distributes a since of spiritual knowledge along with the harsh reality of today's society. He brings incredible hip hop with a consciousness that is absolutely, undeniable to anyone who has ears to hear.

Understanding that music has the ability to transform one's mind, body, and soul, Jae imparts this wonderful gift of speech and brings it to life through music. In late 2008, Jae signs with Yahweh Nation, JuuNo Entertainment (YNJ ent). Detroit has been bankrupt for years. It simply refuses to admit it. Detroit's schools are bankrupt as well. A mere 25% of students graduate from high school.
Yet, in spite of hints and threats from mayors and budget commissions, and in spite of common sense talk of bankruptcy, Detroit has not pulled the bankruptcy trigger.
In a futile attempt to stave off the inevitable one last time, Mayor Bing's latest plan is to cutoff city services including road repairs, police patrols, street lights, and garbage collection in 20% of Detroit.

Bing to Cede 20% of Detroit to Gangs and Homeless
City officials suggest this will not shrink the size of the city. Perhaps it won't shrink Detroit on Google Maps. However, Bing's plan would effectively surrender 20% of the city to gangs and the homeless.
Would you want to live in one of the gang war-zones that his plan would create? Would you want to live in a bordering neighborhood or in a bordering city?
Regardless of your answer, Bing's plan cannot and will not work and I believe Detroit will, sometime in 2011, file for bankruptcy. If so, expect massive turmoil in municipal bonds.

Less Than a Full-Service City
The Wall Street Journal discusses Bing's plan in Less Than a Full-Service City

More than 20% of Detroit's 139 square miles could go without key municipal services under a new plan being developed for the city, with as few as seven neighborhoods seen as meriting the city's full resources.
Those details, outlined by Detroit planning officials this week, offer the clearest picture yet of how Mayor Dave Bing intends to execute what has become his signature program: reconfiguring Detroit to reflect its declining population and fiscal health. Yet the blueprint still leaves large legal and financial questions unresolved.
Mr. Bing's staff wants to concentrate Detroit's remaining population—expected to be less than 900,000 after this year's Census count—and limited local, state and federal dollars in the most viable swaths of the city, while other sectors could go without such services as garbage pickup, police patrols, road repair and street lights.
Karla Henderson, a city planning official leading the mayor's campaign, said in an interview Thursday that her staff had deemed just seven to nine sections of Detroit worthy of receiving the city's full resources. She declined to identify the areas, but said the final plan could include a greater number.
"What we have found is that even some of our stronger neighborhoods are at a tipping point with vacancy," Ms. Henderson said. "Vacancy adds to blight and blight is a disease that takes over the whole neighborhood. So the sooner we can get those homes occupied, the better for the city."
Officials bristle when their efforts are described as downsizing, saying their aim is to repurpose portions of the city, not redraw its borders. "We will not be shrinking the city," Ms. Henderson said. "We are 139 [square] miles and we'll stay that way."

Repurpose or Abandon?
Of course the Mayor's office did not say they would abandon sections of the city to gangs. But how the hell can repurposing as described above possibly mean anything else?

The City of Detroit has failed for nearly four years to send property tax bills to the owner of the Packard plant, costing the city badly needed cash.

At 3.5 million square feet, the plant is by far the largest derelict property in Detroit.

It wasn't until the Free Press began making inquiries last week that the city's assessor's office returned the property to the tax rolls -- with an assessed value of nearly $1.6 million. The change came nearly four years after a Michigan Supreme Court decision prompted the city to surrender the century-old plant to Bioresource, a company whose last listed corporate representative is a convicted drug dealer.

Last week, less than 18 hours after a reporter questioned why the property was listed as city-owned, the assessor's office changed its status to "taxable." The property's assessed value ballooned from almost nothing to nearly $1.6 million.

Robin Boyle, professor of urban planning at Wayne State University, said the error underscores "just how challenged the city is in dealing with the fundamental task of title, control, oversight and follow-through" with property throughout the city.

"To me, that is a fundamental problem that leaves Detroit in a consistently weakened position. It can't even do the basics," Boyle said. "This is a huge piece of real estate, and yet, there's still confusion."

Although only one tenant remains on the property, the plant is not entirely neglected. Scrappers prowl it for metal. Graffiti artists decorate its walls. Someone perched TV sets atop pillars standing at least 15 feet tall.

And it can all be yours for $13 million.

David Wax, senior associate with Burger Easton & Co. in Farmington Hills, has listed the property for sale for a couple of years. He said there was a good deal of interest before the world economic crisis and before steel prices collapsed, making the Packard plant less attractive to buy and then demolish for its metal.

"For 13 years it's been vandalized, raped, burned, stripped of anything of value," Wax said. And on any given day, he said, you can hear "people with hammers and cutting torches cutting steel out of the building."

Now that the building has been put back on the active tax rolls to a convicted drug dealer, this is the sequence of events I imagine would transpire were Detroit to stay on its existing path using Bing's plan as the roadmap.

1. Detroit will send a tax bill to Bioresource
2. Bioresourse will not pay the bill
3. Detroit will reacquire the building in a tax sale with no bidders
4. In a couple of years Detroit will realize it once again owns the building
5. Detroit will repurpose the Packard plant with the same success as depicted in the Michigan Central Train Depot image.

Now’s the time to cast off collective bargaining agreements and introduce school choice.
‘Am I optimistic that they can avoid it . . . ? I am not.” That’s what retired judge Ray Graves said this week when asked whether the Detroit public schools, which he is advising, would be forced into bankruptcy. Facing violence, a shrinking student body, and graduating just one out of every four students who enter the ninth grade on time, the city’s schools have been stumbling for years. Now they face a seemingly insurmountable deficit and are expected to file for bankruptcy protection at about the time that students should be settling down in a new school year.
As embarrassing as such a filing would be, it also may be the only thing that can force the kinds of changes Detroit schools need—as the financial turmoil is just the latest manifestation of a system in terminal decline.
Detroit is like many urban school districts—large, unwieldy and bureaucratic, with a powerful union that makes the system unable to adapt to changing circumstances and that until very recently had an indulgent political class that insulated it from reform. That insulation came in two forms. The first was neglect. Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick spent several years distracted by a scandal stemming from his affair with a staffer. He resigned last year, pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice, and was sentenced to four months in jail. Had he been an effective mayor, he might have also been a powerful advocate for students.
The other insulating force was a conscious decision to wall off Detroit from charter schools. In 1993, Michigan’s legislature made it difficult to create new charters in Detroit by declaring that only community colleges could authorize charters for primary and secondary schools in “First-Class Districts”—defined as those with more than 100,000 students. Detroit was the only First-Class District. In 2003 the state, under pressure from the Detroit Federation of Teachers, turned down a gift of $200 million from philanthropist Robert Thompson that would have established 15 charter schools in the city. Those charters are needed today.
The net result has been a school system that’s been coming apart as the teachers union has dug in its heels. In 2006, the union illegally went on strike, killing a plan to force teachers to take a pay cut to balance the system’s books.

Collective Bargaining has Morally and Fiscally Bankrupted Detroit Schools
Read that again. Under pressure from the Teachers' Union, Detroit turned down $200 Million. That was in 2003 dollars. Wow. No doubt the union "did it for the kids".

It is time to kill collective bargaining for public unions, every one of them, and nation-wide, not just Detroit.

The Economic Base
The deterioration of the economic base of the city has accelerated. There were an estimated 81,754 vacant housing units (22.2 percent of the total) in Detroit before the recession; that number increased to an estimated 101,737 (27.8 percent of the total) in 2008.
The average price of a residential unit sold in the January through November, 2009 period was $12,439, down from $97,847 in 2003. Remaining businesses and individuals are challenging property tax assessments on parcels that have lost value and, in some cases, cannot be sold at any price.
More than half of employed city residents work outside the city limits; the metro area has the highest unemployment rate of the 100 major metro areas in the U.S.
Detroit Should Embrace Bankruptcy
The only legitimate solution for Detroit is to shed pension obligations, privatize everything it can including the fire department, and dump unions contracts en masse. Since those items can only happen in restructuring, Detroit should openly embrace bankruptcy.

Detroit, the largest U.S. city whose debt is rated below investment grade, warned investors of the risk of bankruptcy as it prepares to sell $250 million of bonds to help close its budget deficit.
The city told bondholders in a March 2 preliminary offering statement that while it hasn’t taken steps to reorganize under Chapter 9, it may have few other options if its financial condition worsens. Detroit officials also detailed the steps they would have to take should bankruptcy become necessary.
“If the city’s financial status were to deteriorate further the city’s options to improve its fiscal health may be limited,” Detroit said in the statement. Bondholders “should not expect that their rights to payment and remedies will not be adversely affected by filing under the bankruptcy code.”
“We are still in a financial crisis but insolvency isn’t on the horizon or on the agenda at this time,” Mayor Dave Bing said in an e-mail from his spokesman, Dan Lijana. The total deficit this year is estimated at $280 million.

Bing Still Pretends - How Long Can It Last?
For reasons unknown, Bing just cannot do what is right. He will not come flat out and say what everyone in their right mind knows - that Detroit is fiscally and morally bankrupt and so are its schools.
Instead, on December 10, 2010 Detroit Borrows $100 Million for Police and Fire Headquarters.

Detroit, whose population has dropped by half since 1950, borrowed $100 million to turn the MGM Grand Casino’s former site into a headquarters for the police, fire and emergency-services departments.
The city sold so-called Recovery Zone Bonds authorized under the U.S. economic-stimulus plan, borrowing at 4.55 percent, the city said in a press release today. The bonds, with the longest term maturing in 2035, were sold through the Michigan Finance Authority by investment banks led by Siebert Brandford Shank & Co., according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
“The financial markets believe in what we’re doing to bring fiscal responsibility back to Detroit,” said Mayor Dave Bing, in a prepared statement today.
So-called recovery zone bonds were included in the economic-stimulus package signed by President Barack Obama last year to help expand the economy of areas with poverty and unemployment. They’re a type of Build America Bond that comes with a 45 percent interest subsidy rather than 35 percent rate under the Build America program, which expires Dec. 31.
The bonds were rated A1, or fifth highest, by Moody’s Investor’s Service and AA-, or fourth highest, by Standard & Poor’s.

BABs Set to End December 31, 2010
Note the ridiculous rating of those bonds by Moody's and by Standard & Poor’s. If the Federal government is backing those bonds, then they are AAA. If not, they are junk. There is no in-between.
Thankfully, the extremely ridiculous Build-America-Bond program will expire on December 31. When it does, no one in their right mind will lend Detroit money, and that at long-last will mean "lights out" for Detroit.
A new Republican governor takes over in Michigan next year, complete with a new Republican legislature. I believe Governor-Elect Rick Snyder will be amenable to fixing what ails Detroit and numerous other cities in Michigan.
Should Mayor Bing not seek bankruptcy assistance, I propose for Governor Snyder to force Detroit into bankruptcy. It is the only hope Detroit has. Mayor Bing is clearly in over his head.
Governor Snyder would be a hero if he can turn Detroit around, and outside of bankruptcy that appears impossible.
Thus, forced or not, I believe Detroit will file bankruptcy in 2011, the state will accept it, and public unions will be forced to accept massive concessions in bankruptcy court.
Look for massive turmoil in the municipal bond market as a result.

This is no Urban Legend

After a very successful tenure at the University of Florida, including 3 National titles, Head Coach Urban Meyer has decided to step down. His reason for leaving the program is to devote more time to his family and his personal health.

The ultimate question is, what's next in store for the gator coaching "Legend"?

Well let's examine a few possible outcomes.
1. Urban actually means what he says and decides to just relax at home and bask in his gloried success in Gainesville never to be seen again, and more importantly take care of his. If you will remember, before last season Urban said he was retiring, then opted instead to take a leave of absence for health reasons before returning to lead the Gators. And considering the way he looked at the recent press conference, he just may not be in the best condition.

2. Meyer may decide to really give up coaching altogether but not completely leave the game. By this I mean, join the gameday crew or sit in the office of "Dr. Lou" (holtz) and provide his professional insight on the game and all things "spread" offense.

3. The final and most intruiging scenario is the one involving what I like to call the urban legend. What if the coach decides to go home to family and take care of his health. And then come oh...4 weeks from now the coach is spotted skiing in the rocky mountains. He then gets a call and interview from none other than the Denver Broncos. Keep in mind this is the same coach that has led 26 players to the NFL draft throughout his coaching career. Therefore the only next logical step would be to promote is recent heisman trophy winning '"Legend" to starting QB, the one and only Tim Tebow.

Meyer would also inherit a team that has a nice selection of offense weapons to compliment an already respectable defense. A quarterback that's not supposed to be an NFL prototype combined with an offense that isn't supposed to be able to function in the big leagues.
So I ask, could this be the inauguration of one Urban dispelling many legends?...

The NBA owners aren't the only ones looking to alter the landscape of the league over the next several seasons through the league's collective bargaining agreement.
While the owners want to do away with the soft salary cap and guaranteed contracts, the players hope to end the age restriction that forbids players from entering the NBA directly out of high school.

NBPA executive director Billy Hunter sent an audio podcast detailing the union's proposal to every player last week. The proposal, which includes the end of the age restriction, has been obtained by ESPN.com and confirmed by a union source.
In its proposal, the union, while rejecting the owners' call for a hard salary cap and salary reductions, is also willing to negotiate a reduction in league revenue guarantees for players. The union also proposes rule changes that would provide more flexibility for sign-and-trade deals.
The age restriction, which requires a player to be at least 19 years old during the calendar year of the draft as well as at least one year removed from his high school graduation class, has been in place since the 2005-2006 season. A league spokesman refused to comment when asked Wednesday about the union's proposed change to the age restriction.
The league did not address the age requirement specifically in the collective bargaining proposal it submitted to players in February. But commissioner David Stern's desire has long been to raise the minimum age to 20 rather than to lower it.
NBA spokesman Mike Bass refused to comment when contacted by ESPN.com.
While there are much larger issues separating the sides, the age restriction could become a bargaining chip in the stalemated negotiations between owners and players that appear headed toward a lockout next summer.
Hunter said last month he's "99 percent sure" there will be a lockout, and a look at the proposals of each side reveals Hunter may have underestimated the chances of a work stoppage.
The union submitted its contract proposal in July, but it seems to have barely registered with the owners, who have neither provided a counterproposal nor backed off the demands they made in February. The league also refused to comment Wednesday on the details of the union's proposal.
"Our proposal was designed to move the negotiations forward, to be a win-win for both sides," the union source said. "We looked to address some of the owners' concerns and the proposal had elements that would benefit both sides. But the owners have sat on this for five months."
While the union rejects the owners' demands for a hard cap, an $800 million cut in salaries, a shortening of contract lengths and an elimination of guaranteed contracts, it is willing to negotiate a reduction in the percentage of league revenue players are guaranteed.
Players are currently guaranteed 57 percent of basketball-related income, and the players are willing to remove that guarantee. No new figure was proposed by the union, which is also open to considering adjustments to revenue formulas for owners who build new arenas or significantly renovate existing ones.
The players' association also proposed, according to the podcast, "enhanced trade and signing flexibility." Basically, it wants to change the system in a way that would make it easier for teams to make trades.
Currently, in trades involving a team that is above the salary cap, the traded players' salaries must fall within 125 percent of one another. The union would like to at least double that percentage. That would make it easier for cash-strapped clubs to receive financial relief by trading away players with large contracts.
The union suggests ending the complicated "base-year compensation" rule that often makes it difficult to pull off trades.
"We want to keep the current system in place, and address some of the owners' concerns within the context of that system," the source said. "We want to keep the soft cap we've had for 30 years and keep salaries tied to revenues."
In the past, the players have had no say in how the owners have shared their revenue among themselves. But with the owners complaining about millions of dollars in annual losses, the union proposed in July that the league incorporate "meaningful revenue sharing."
The players do not believe the burden for giving small-market clubs financial relief should fall entirely upon them. Thus, they're proposing that the league share not only national revenue -- such as television contracts, sponsorships and gate receipts -- but local revenue as well.
The union also suggests the league could give small markets a larger share of the national revenue.
Staunchly against a hard cap, which would eliminate longtime collective bargaining staples such as the Larry Bird exception, the union also noted that it wants to not only keep the midlevel exception but add a second midlevel exception.
In exchange, the players would give up the "bi-annual exception," which is currently worth $2 million, and decrease the maximum length of midlevel contracts from five years to four years.
The players are also looking to shorten the time period (currently seven days) that teams have to match offers for restricted free agents, as well as gain better pension benefits.
The union has been anticipating a lockout for more than a year and has been advising its players regularly to save money in preparation for a work stoppage.
The players are ready to fight to keep the key elements of the current system, as evidenced by the attendance of superstars such as LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul at a negotiating meeting in August.
The players were galvanized in part after union representatives showed them PowerPoint presentations that explained exactly how much money they would lose if the owners' proposal was accepted. For instance, the $18 million Joe Johnson is slated to make next season would fall to about $11 million under the owners' proposed system, with less than $5 million guaranteed.
The owners are digging in as well, with one source close to several owners saying "they will not budge" from their current proposal. If the two sides haven't moved significantly closer to one another by the February All-Star break, a lockout would seem inevitable.
"We're not planning to make another proposal, in part because the owners have not made a counterproposal," the union source said. "They don't seem to want to make a deal early."

Johnson-Koulianos, Iowa's all-time leading receiver and a fan favorite nicknamed "DJK," is not accused of dealing drugs. But he is charged with allowing drugs to be used "and likely sold" from his home in a quiet neighborhood several blocks from campus, as well as possession of small amounts of cocaine and marijuana. Police say he tested positive and admitted using both.
Decked out in big glasses and a sports jacket over a turtleneck, Johnson-Koulianos smiled for photographers as he entered the Johnson County courtroom but later grew much more somber. He stood with his hands behind his back as Judge Stephen Gerard read the seven charges against him and the potential jail time -- up to 7½ years -- and fines he faces. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing and an arraignment date was not immediately scheduled.
He walked out of the courthouse without commenting and left in a car driven by defense attorney John Beasley, who also declined comment.
The 23-year-old receiver and his roommate, 21-year-old Brady Cooper Johnson, were charged on Tuesday after police officers raided their Iowa City home. Johnson-Koulianos was released after posting $8,000 bond. Johnson made his initial appearance by video from the jail, where he was later released on $14,500 bond. The two are not related.
Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz suspended Johnson-Koulianos from team activities after learning of the arrest, which came as Iowa begins to prepare to play Missouri in the Insight Bowl on Dec. 28.
Johnson-Koulianos, a senior from Campbell, Ohio, received first-team All-Big Ten honors from the conference's coaches last month. He finished the regular season with 46 receptions for 745 yards and 10 touchdowns, becoming Iowa's career leader in receptions and receiving yards in the process. He was the first player ever to lead the Hawkeyes in receiving his first three seasons.
Police say they found marijuana, more than $3,000 in cash, a digital scale and other items used to sell drugs throughout the residence. The player's roommate, Johnson, was accused of "selling large amounts of marijuana" in a criminal complaint and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and other charges.
The complaint against Johnson-Koulianos does not accuse him of dealing drugs. Instead, it says officers located cocaine residue, "small quantities of marijuana" in his bedroom and a variety of legal painkillers and muscle relaxers for which he did not have prescriptions.
The complaint said Johnson-Koulianos agreed to take a urine test and tested positive for cocaine and marijuana.
He allegedly told officers he had used drugs and they obtained "electronic media" showing him possessing cocaine. He told police he got the pills from friends and took some to relieve pain.
Johnson-Koulianos is charged with keeping a drug house because "he knew drugs were being used and likely sold out of the residence," the complaint said. That charge can be filed against anyone who knowingly allows their residence to be used to do, store and sell drugs. He is also charged with possession of cocaine, marijuana and prescription drugs.
Iowa graduate Brian Rorris, 25, said he was surprised to walk into the home while officers were carrying out the warrant Tuesday and was immediately handcuffed. He said he is friends with Brady Johnson, and the two had been planning to take their dogs to a nearby park.
Rorris said officers inventoried the drugs and seized electronic equipment such as video game consoles and cell phones. Rorris, who was released after officers searched him and his vehicle, said Johnson-Koulianos cooperated with police and told officers he "didn't want any sort of trouble."
"I think he was a little bit shell-shocked," Rorris said. "I just feel really bad for him. It just sounds so much worse than it really is."

Chris Paul and the rest of the New Orleans Hornets will soon be playing for the first franchise in league history owned by the NBA.
Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com on Sunday that the league's fast-moving plans to take temporary control of the Hornets are going ahead "100 percent" and will be publicly confirmed within the next few days, mirroring what Major League Baseball did with the Montreal Expos before that franchise was sold and moved to the nation's capital as the Washington Nationals.

This unprecedented twist in the Hornets' roller-coaster history, beyond what it means for the franchise and its fans in New Orleans, is likely to revive leaguewide curiosity about Paul's future.
The All-Star guard can become a free agent in the summer of 2012 and has been targeted for months by rival teams believing they could capitalize on New Orleans' unsettled ownership situation to pry him away, but the Hornets' surprising 11-1 start had just begun to hush the frenzy of speculation about their ability to keep him long-term.
Yet sources with knowledge of the arrangement's specifics insisted Sunday that Paul will not be dealt this season unless the Hornets' current management team wants to move him -- and it clearly does not. One source close to the situation added that the NBA's priority is ensuring that the Hornets remain as attractive as possible to potential buyers, which presumably means keeping Paul as its face of the franchise.
After the long-stalled sale of the Hornets from longtime owner George Shinn to minority partner Gary Chouest collapsed for good in recent days, NBA officials moved forward with their proposal to purchase operational control of the team. The reason that the NBA felt the need to take this Expos-style step for the first time, sources said, is that the cash-strapped Shinn can no longer afford running the team but also can't find a buyer.
A formal announcement from the league, sources said, will come no later than Wednesday.
Sources say that the league's intention remains trying to find an owner who can be persuaded to keep the team in New Orleans, as part of NBA commissioner David Stern's longstanding determination to sustain pro basketball in the region in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and the devastation it inflicted.
Stern's pledge included keeping the 2009 All-Star Game in New Orleans, which turned out to be one of the league's more successful All-Star Weekends.
But the NBA is expected to make the strength of prospective ownership bids its highest priority -- and there are no guarantees that an incoming buyer would want to stay in one of the league's smallest markets. Stern is generally averse to franchise moves, but sources say Seattle, Kansas City and Anaheim are among the available markets of greatest interest to various league officials; Las Vegas has apparently slipped in the pecking order largely as a result of the recent economic downturn.
It can likewise be argued that the Hornets became an even more attractive property for potential buyers just in the past week, thanks to the disclosure that this season's attendance has dropped to the point that the Hornets are on pace to have the right to opt out of their lease with the state of Louisiana as early as March 1.
Sports Illustrated, which first reported that the league had presented the idea of taking temporary control of the Hornets at an NBA Board of Governors meeting in late October, reported Saturday on its website that Jac Sperling of the NHL's Minnesota Wild would serve as the league's representative in charge of overseeing Hornets operations and the sale of the team.
Yet sources say that Hornets president Hugh Weber will largely continue to run the organization and report to Sperling, who was born in New Orleans.
The league office and the Hornets have continued to decline requests for comment from ESPN.com since Friday.
The Hornets averaged just 13,826 fans through their first nine home games despite the team's better-than-expected November and attracted a crowd of 14,020 for Friday night's home loss to the New York Knicks.
The future of the Hornets has commanded strong interest throughout the league since Shinn's plans to sell the team to Chouest were revealed back in April, largely because Shinn's ongoing presence and limited financial resources are widely seen as factors that could prompt Paul to leave the only team he's ever played for when he's eligible for free agency.
Great local optimism initially greeted the news that Chouest would be taking over, but fears that his deal to buy out Shinn would collapse have been mounting for months because so much time has passed with almost nothing said publicly by either side about the state of the sale.
The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported Friday that Chouest has indeed withdrawn his offer, saying that the Louisiana native -- whose primary business interests are in the offshore service industry -- no longer thinks he can devote the time needed to run an NBA team as well as his private company.
Shinn controversially moved the Hornets from Charlotte to New Orleans for the 2002-03 season and the team was later forced to make Oklahoma City its home for two seasons in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
The Times-Picayune reported earlier this week that the Hornets can opt out of their current lease with the state of Louisiana and might have the freedom to move yet again if they average less than 14,213 fans during a 13-game stretch of home dates between Dec. 1 and Jan. 17.
Amid the sale uncertainty, New Orleans has been trying for months to convince skeptics that Paul will not be made available to interested teams under any circumstances.
Numerous clubs besieged the Hornets with trade calls about Paul throughout last season, but external interest only increased after a June interview with ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard in which Paul said he wants to remain in New Orleans but would be "open to a trade" if the Hornets aren't trying to compete financially with the league's elite.
Weber responded with a housecleaning that led to the hiring of general manager Dell Demps from San Antonio to team with rookie coach and former Spurs teammate Williams.
Through a series of aggressive trades, improved defense and with Williams and Paul bonding quickly, New Orleans followed up a painful preseason with a stunning 11-1 start.
Team officials have pointed to the $15 million in additional salaries that the Hornets have absorbed since Demps was hired July 21 as a sign that the team is on solid financial footing.
One source expressed confidence Sunday that the Hornets can continue to operate as normal while the league searches for a buyer, especially since the team's many moves since August have taken its payroll for the season nearly $4 million under the league's luxury-tax threshold.
Paul, though, has generally revealed little in the way of firm declarations about how the Hornets' brightened outlook affects his future plans. But he has acknowledged in numerous interviews he's excited by the team's new direction under Demps and Williams and frequently reiterates his fondness for New Orleans after establishing deep roots in the city.
"I'm excited about my teammates," Paul told ESPN.com on Nov. 15. "We've got a lot of guys on our team that are hungry. I think we're in a good spot right now."
It was widely reported in early May that Shinn and Chouest had struck an agreement in principle for Chouest -- who possesses a 25 percent stake in the franchise -- to become majority owner. Delays were initially attributed to haggles over the final purchase price and Chouest's reported search for new minority investors to reduce his overall investment, but one source said Sunday that Chouest has pulled out of a presumed "done deal" with Shinn at least three times in recent months.
Shinn founded the Hornets in 1988 and announced last season that -- now in remission after being diagnosed with prostate cancer a year ago -- he was prepared to sell his majority stake. It's been a controversial two-decade run for Shinn with a franchise that moved away from its fervent followers in Charlotte largely because of the locals' distaste for the owner.
The Times-Picayune reported Monday that the Hornets would be free to relocate if the 14,735-fan benchmark is not reached for the 13 games specified, but actually leaving New Orleans would also require a $10 million exit penalty payable to the state and a formal notice to Louisiana no later than March 1, 2011.
Weber told the newspaper the franchise isn't looking to relocate again, saying: "We all know basketball can work in New Orleans. We've seen it work."

1760: During this decade Mayer Amschel Bauer works for a bank owned by the Oppenheimers’ in Hanover, Germany, he is highly successful and becomes a junior partner. 1812: Backed by Rothschild money, the British declare war on the United States. The Rothschilds plan was to cause the United States to build up such a debt in fighting this war that they would have to surrender to the Rothschilds and allow the charter for the Rothschild owned Bank of the United States to be renewed. Mayer Amschel Rothschild dies. In his will he lays out specific laws that the House of Rothschild were to follow: all key positions in the family business were only to be held by family members; only male members of the family were allowed to participate in the family business (It is important to note that Mayer Amschel Rothschild also has five daughters, so today the spread of the Rothschild Zionist dynasty without the Rothschild name is far and wide); the family was to intermarry with it’s first and second cousins to preserve the family fortune; no public inventory of his estate was to be published; no legal action was to be taken with regard to the value of the inheritance; the eldest son of the eldest son was to become the head of the family (this condition could only be overturned when the majority of the family agreed otherwise). 1814: With regard to the $3,000,000 Prince William of Hanau had entrusted to Mayer Amschel Rothschild for safekeeping, for an account of what happened next we turn to the Jewish Encyclopedia, 1905 edition, Volume 10, page 494, which states, “According to legend this money was hidden away in wine casks, and, escaping the search of Napoleon's soldiers when they entered Frankfurt, was restored intact in the same casks in 1814, when the elector (Prince William of Hanau) returned to the electorate (Germany). The facts are somewhat less romantic, and more businesslike.” This last line indicates the money was never returned by Rothschild to Prince William of Hanau. The encyclopedia goes on to state, Nathan Mayer Rothschild invested this $3,000,000 in, “gold from the East India Company knowing that it would be needed for Wellington's peninsula campaign.” On the stolen money Nathan made, “no less than four profits: i) On the sale of Wellington's paper which he bought at 50 cents on the dollar and collected at par; ii) on the sale of gold to Wellington; iii) on its repurchase; and iv) on forwarding it to Portugal.”
1815: The five Rothschild brothers work to supply gold to both Wellington’s army (through Nathan in England) and Napoleon’s army (through Jacob in France), and begin their policy of funding both sides in wars. Due to the fact that these brothers had banks spread out across Europe this gave them the facility to set up an unrivalled network of secret routes and fast couriers. These Rothschild couriers were the only merchants allowed to pass through the English and French blockades. It was these couriers who also kept Nathan Mayer Rothschild up to date with how the war was going so he could use that intelligence to buy and sell from his position on the stock exchange in accordance with that intelligence. At that time British bonds were called consuls and they were traded on the floor of the stock exchange. Nathan Mayer Rothschild instructed all his workers on the floor to start selling consuls. They made all the other traders believe that the British had lost the war so they started selling frantically. Therefore the consuls plummeted in value which was when Nathan Mayer Rothschild discreetly instructed his workers to purchase all the consuls they could lay their hands on. When news came through that the British had actually won the war, the consuls went up to a level even higher than before the war ended leaving Nathan Mayer Rothschild with a return of approximately 20 to 1 on his investment. This gave the Rothschild family complete control of the British economy, now the financial centre of the world following Napolean’s defeat, and forced England to set up a new Bank of England, which Nathan Mayer Rothschild controlled. Nathan Mayer Rothschild would later state, “I care not what puppet is placed upon the throne of England to rule the Empire on which the sun never sets. The man who controls Britain's money supply controls the British Empire, and I control the British money supply.” The Rothschilds also use their control of the Bank of England to replace the method of shipping gold from country to country and instead used their five banks spread across Europe to set up a system of paper debits and credits, the banking system of today.
1816: The charter for the Bank of the United States is renewed for another twenty years with the Rothschilds in Control of the American money supply again. The British war against the America therefore ends with the deaths of thousands of British and American soldiers, but the Rothschilds get their bank.
1818: Following the French securing massive loans in 1817 in order to help rebuild after their disastrous defeat at Waterloo, Rothschild agents bought vast amounts of French government bonds causing their value to increase. On November 5th they dumped the lot on the open market causing their value to plummet and France to go into a financial panic. The Rothschilds then stepped in to take control of the French money supply. This was the same year the Rothschilds were able to loan £5,000,000 to the Prussian government. 1822: The emperor of Austria made the five Rothschild brothers Barons. Nathan Mayer Rothschild chose not to take up the title.
1827: Sir Walter Scott publishes his nine volume set, The life of Napoleon and in volume two he states that the French Revolution was planned by the Illuminati (Adam Weishaupt) and was financed by the money changers of Europe (The Rothschilds).
1835: President Andrew Jackson (the 7th President of the United States from 1829 to 1837) starts depositing federal funds into banks directed by democratic bankers rather than in the Rothschild controlled Bank of the United States. An assassination attempt is made on President Jackson and he would later claim that he knew the Rothschilds were responsible for that attempted assassination. The Rothschilds acquire the rights in the Almadén quicksilver mines in Spain. This was at the time the biggest concession in the world and as quicksilver was a vital component in the refining of gold or silver this gave the Rothschilds a virtual world monopoly.
1837: Following his years of fighting against the Rothschilds and their central bank in America, President Andrew Jackson finally succeeds in throwing the Rothschilds central bank out of America. It would not be until 1913 that the Rothschilds would be able to set up their third central bank in America, the Federal Reserve.
1836: Nathan Mayer Rothschild dies. 1838: Amschel Mayer Rothschild states, “Permit me to issue and control the money of a nation, and I care not who makes its laws."
1840: The Rothschilds become the Bank of England’s bullion brokers. They set up agencies in California and Australia.
1841: President John Tyler (the 10th President of the United States From 1841 to 1845) vetoed the act to renew the charter for the Bank of the United States. He goes on to receive hundreds of letters threatening him with assassination.
1844: Salomon Mayer Rothschild purchases the United Coal Mines of Vítkovice and Austro-Hungarian Blast Furnace Company that would go on to be one of the top ten global industrial concerns. Benjamin Disraeli (who would go on to become British Prime Minister twice) publishes Coningsby, in which he characterizes Nathan Mayer Rothschild as, “the Lord and Master of the money markets of the world, and of course virtually Lord and Master of everything else. He literally held the revenues of Southern Italy in pawn, and Monarchs and Ministers of all countries courted his advice and were guided by his suggestions."
1845: Andrew Jackson (The 7th President of the United States) dies. This Great Patriot leaves instructions in his will to have, “I Killed The Bank,” inscribed on his headstone, a reference to the fact he banished the Rothschilds second Central bank in the United States from the US in 1837. Jacob (James) Mayer Rothschild, now known as Baron James de Rothschild wins the contract to build the first major railway line across the country. This was called the Chemin De Fer Du Nord and ran initially from Paris to Valenciennes and then joined with the Austrian rail network built by his brother Salomon Mayer Rothschild. 1847: Lionel De Rothschild now married to the daughter of his uncle, Kalmann (Carl) Mayer Rothschild, is elected to the parliamentary seat for the City of London. A requirement for entering parliament was to take an oath in the true faith of a Christian. Lionel De Rothschild refused to do this as he was Jewish and his seat in parliament remained empty for 11 years until new oaths were allowed.
1848: Eva Hanau, Amschel Mayer Rothschild’s wife dies.

1861: President Abraham Lincoln (16th President of the United States from 1860 till his assassination in 1865) approaches the Rothschilds to try to obtain loans to support the ongoing American civil war. The Rothschilds agree provided Lincoln allows them a Charter for another United States central bank and are prepared to pay 24% to 36% interest on all monies loaned. Lincoln was very angry about this high level of interest and so he printed his own debt free money and informed the public that this was now legal tender for both public and private debts.
1862: By April $449,338,902 worth of Lincoln’s debt free money had been printed and distributed. He went on to state, “We gave the people of this republic the greatest blessing they ever had, their own paper money to pay their own debts.” That same year The Times of London publishes A story containing the following statement, “If that mischievous financial policy, which had its origin in the North American Republic, should become indurated down to a fixture, then that government will furnish its own money without cost. It will pay off debts and be without a debt. It will have all the money necessary to carry on its commerce. It will become prosperous beyond precedent in the history of civilized governments of the world. The brains and the wealth of all countries will go to North America. That government must be destroyed or it will destroy every monarchy on the globe.”
1863: The Rothschild banking house in Naples, Italy, C. M. de Rothschild e figli, closes following the unification of Italy. The Rothschilds use one of their agents in America, John D. Rockefeller to form an oil business called Standard Oil which eventually takes over all of its competition.
1864: President Abraham Lincoln discovers the Tsar of Russia, Alexander II (1855 – 1881), was having problems with the Rothschilds as well as he was refusing their continual attempts to set up a central bank in Russia. President Lincoln asks the Tsar for help in the Civil War and the Tsar sent part of his fleet to anchor off New York and the other part off California. The Tsar made it clear to the British, French and Spanish that if they attacked either side, Russia would take the side of President Lincoln. Lincoln subsequently won the Civil War.

1870: Nathaniel de Rothschild dies.
1873: The loss making Rio Tinto copper mines in Spain, are purchased by a group of foreign financiers including the Rothschilds. These mines represented Europe’s largest source of copper.
1875: N M Rothschild & Sons undertake a share issue to raise capital for the first channel tunnel project to link France to England, with half of its capital coming from the Rothschild owned Company du Chemin de Fer du Nord. This year the Rothschilds also Provided Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli the finance for the British government to acquire a major stake in the Suez Canal. This deal was done in great secrecy by Lionel De Rothschild.
1876: Otto von Bismarck states, “The division of the United States into two federations of equal force was decided long before the civil war by the high financial power of Europe. These bankers were afraid that the United States, if they remained in one block and as one nation, would attain economical and financial independence, which would upset their financial domination over the world. The voice of the Rothschilds predominated. 1881: President James A. Garfield (The 20th President of the United States who lasted only 100 Days) states two weeks before he was assassinated, “Whoever controls the volume of money in our country is absolute master of all industry and commerce...and when you realize that the entire system is very easily controlled, one way or another, by a few powerful men at the top, you will not have to be told how periods of inflation and depression originate.” Edmond James de Rothschild has a son Maurice de Rothschild.
1883: After 6,000 feet of tunnel in the channel tunnel project being excavated, the British government halt the project citing the fact that it would be a threat to Britain’s security. 1885: Nathaniel Rothschild, son of Lionel De Rothschild, becomes the first Jewish peer and is takes the title of Lord Rothschild.
1886: The French Rothschild bank, de Rothschild Frères obtains substantial amounts of Russia’s oil fields and forms the Caspian and Black Sea Petroleum Company, which quickly becomes the world’s second largest oil producer.
1887: The Rothschilds finance the amalgamation of the Kimberley diamond mines in South Africa. They subsequently become the biggest shareholders of this company, De Beers, and mine precious stones in Africa and India.
1888: Noémie Halphen, future wife of Maurice de Rothschild born.
1891: The British Labour Leader makes the following statement on the subject of the Rothschilds, “This blood-sucking crew has been the cause of untold mischief and misery in Europe during the present century, and has piled up its prodigious wealth chiefly through fomenting wars between States which ought never to have quarreled. Whenever there is trouble in Europe, wherever rumors of war circulate and men’s minds are distraught with fear of change and calamity you may be sure that a hook-nosed Rothschild is at his games somewhere near the region of the disturbance.” Comments like this worry the Rothschilds and towards the end of the 1800’s they purchase Reuters news agency so they can have some control of the media.
1895: Edmond James de Rothschild the youngest son of Jacob (James) Mayer Rothschild visits Palestine and subsequently supplies the funds to found the first Jewish colonies there, this is to further their long term objective of creating a Rothschild formed country.
1897: The Rothschilds found the Zionist Congress and arrange its first meeting in Munich. However due to local Jewish opposition this is re-arranged for Basle, Switzerland and takes place on 29 August. The meeting is chaired by Theodor Herzl. Herzl is subsequently elected President of the Zionist Organization which adopts the, “Rothschild Red Sign,” as the Zionist flag which 51 years later will end up as the flag of Israel.
1898: Ferdinand de Rothschild dies.
1901: The Rothschild banking house in Frankfurt, Germany, M. A. von Rothschild und Söhne, closes as there is no male Rothschild heir to take it on.
1902: Philippe de Rothschild born.
1906: Due to growing instability in the region and increasing competition from Standard Oil, the Rothschilds sell the Caspian and Black Sea Petroleum Company to Royal Dutch and Shell.
1907: Rothschild, Jacob Schiff, the head of Kuhn, Loeb and Co., in a speech to the New York Chamber of Commerce, warns that, “Unless we have a Central Bank with adequate control of credit resources, this country is going to undergo the most severe and far reaching money panic in its history.” Suddenly America finds itself in the middle of another typical run of the mill Rothschild engineered financial crisis, which ruins as usual ruins the lives of innocent people throughout America and makes billions for the Rothschilds.
1909: Maurice de Rothschild marries Noémie Halphen.
1911: John F. Hylan, then mayor of New York, states, “The real menace of our republic is the invisible government which, like a giant octopus, sprawls its slimy length over our city, state and nation. At the head is a small group of banking houses, generally referred to as international bankers.” Werner Sombart, in his book The Jews and Modern Capitalism, stated that from 1820 on, it was the, “Age of the Rothschild,” and concluded that there was, “Only one power in Europe, and that is Rothschild.”
1912: In the December issue of, “Truth,” magazine, George R. Conroy states of banker Jacob Schiff, “Mr Schiff is head of the great private banking house of Kuhn, Loeb, and co, which represents the Rothschilds interests on this side of the Atlantic. He has been described as financial strategist and has been for years the financial minister of the great impersonal power known as Standard Oil. He was hand in glove with the Harrimans, the Goulds, and the Rockefellers in all their railroad enterprises and has become the dominant power in the railroad and financial power of America.”
1913: The Rothschilds set up the Anti Defamation League (ADL) in the United States designed to brand as, “antiSemitic,” anyone who questions or challenges the Global Elite. Strangely enough, the same year that they do this they also set up their last and current central bank in America, the Federal Reserve. Congressman Charles Lindbergh stated following the passing of the Federal Reserve Act on December 23, “The Act establishes the most gigantic trust on earth. When the President signs this Bill, the invisible government of the monetary power will be legalized.......The greatest crime of the ages is perpetrated by this banking and currency bill.” It is important to note that the Federal Reserve is a private company, it is neither Federal nor does it have any Reserve. It is conservatively estimated that profits exceed $150 billion per year and the Federal Reserve has never once in its history published accounts.
1914: The Rothschilds have control of the three European news agencies, Wolff (est. 1849) in Germany, Reuters (est. 1851) in England, and Havas (est. 1835) in France. The Rothschilds use Wolff to manipulate the German people into a fervour for war. From now on the Rothschilds are rarely reported in the media, because they own the media.
1918: The Rothschilds order the execution by the Bolsheviks they control, of Tsar Nicholas II and his entire family in Russia. This is the Rothschilds revenge for Tsar Alexander II siding with President Abraham Lincoln in 1864. It is extremely important for them to slaughter the entire family including women and children in order to show the world, this is what happens if you ever attempt to cross the Rothschilds.
1919: Following the end of the first world war, the Versailles peace conference is held to decide reparations that the Germans need to pay to the victors. Also decided at this conference is the confirmation of Israel as a Jewish homeland, with the control of Palestine being given to Britain whilst this handover takes place. At that time less than one percent of the population of Palestine was Jewish. The host of this conference is its boss, Baron Edmund de Rothschild. On March 29th The Times of London reports on the Bolsheviks in Russia, “One of the curious features of the Bolshevist movement is the high percentage of non Russian elements among its leaders. Of the twenty or thirty commissaries, or leaders, who provide the central machinery of the Bolshevist movement, not less than 75% were Jews.” It is reported that the Rothschilds were angry with the Russians because they were not prepared to allow them to form a central bank within their nation. They therefore gathered groups of Jewish spies and sent them into Russia to drum up a revolution. They were given Russian names, for example Trotsky was a member of the first group and his original name was Bronstein. These groups were sent to areas throughout Russia to incite riots and rebellion. The Jewish Post International Edition, week ending January 24th 1991, confirms Vladimir Lenin was Jewish. N. M. Rothschild & Sons’ are given a permanent role to fix the world’s daily gold price. This takes place in the City of London offices, daily at 1100 hours, in the same room until 2004.
1920: Winston Churchill writes in an article in the Illustrated Sunday Herald, dated February 8th, “From the days of Illuminati leader Weishaupt, to those of Karl Marx, to those of Trotsky, this worldwide conspiracy has been steadily growing. And now at last this band of extraordinary personalities from the underworld of the great cities of Europe and America, have gripped the Russian people by the hair of their heads and become the undisputed masters of that enormous empire.”
1926: N. M. Rothschild & Sons refinance the Underground Electric Railways Company of London Ltd which has a controlling interest in the entire London Underground transport system. Maurice de Rothschild has a son, Edmond de Rothschild.
1934: Swiss banking secrecy laws are reformed and it becomes an offence resulting in imprisonment for any bank employee to violate bank secrecy. This is all in preparation for the Rothschild engineered Second World War in which as usual they will fund both sides. Edmond de Rothschild dies.
1938: The Rothschilds Austrian banking house in Vienna, S. M. von Rothschild und Söhne, closes following the Nazi occupation of Austria.
1939: I.G. Farben the leading producer of chemicals in the world and largest German producer of steel dramatically increases its production. This increased production is almost exclusively used to arm Germany for the Second World War. This company was controlled by the Rothschilds and would go on to use Jews and other disaffected peoples as slave labour in the concentration camps.
1940: Hansjurgen Koehler in his book, “Inside The Gestapo,” states the following, of Maria Anna Schicklgruber, Adolf Hitler’s grandmother, “A little servant girl.......came to Vienna and became a domestic servant.......at the Rothschild mansion.......and Hitler’s unknown grandfather must be probably looked for in this magnificent house.” This is backed up by Walter Langer in his book, “The Mind Of Hitler,” in which he states, “Adolf’s father, Alois Hitler, was the illegitimate son of Maria Anna Schicklgruber.......Maria Anna Schicklgruber was living in Vienna at the time she conceived. At that time she was employed as a servant in the home of Baron Rothschild. As soon as the family discovered her pregnancy she was sent back home.......where Alois was born.”
1943: February 18th, Zionist, Izaak Greenbaum, head of the Jewish Agency Rescue Committee, in a speech to the Zionist Executive Council states, “If I am asked, could you give from the UJA (United Jewish Appeal) monies to rescue Jews, I say, no and I say again no!” He would go onto state, “One cow in Palestine is worth more than all the Jews in Poland!”
1948: In the Spring of this year, the Rothschilds bribe President Harry S. Truman (33rd President of the United States 1945 – 1953) to recognise Israel (Rothschild owned Zionist not Jewish territory) as a sovereign state with $2,000,000 which they give to him on his campaign train. They then declare Israel to be a sovereign Jewish state in Palestine and within half an hour President Truman declared the United States to be the first foreign nation to recognise it. The Flag of Israel is unveiled. Despite tremendous opposition the emblem on the flag is the Rothschild, “Red Sign/Star Of David,” which angers many Jews who believe the, “Menorah,” the oldest Jewish symbol should be used. It is pointed out that the, ”Red Sign/Star of David,” used on the Jewish flag is not even a Jewish symbol, but of course as the Rothschild Zionists use it that is what ends up on the Rothschild, I mean Zionist, I mean Israeli flag.
1953: N. M. Rothschild & Sons found the British Newfoundland Corporation Limited to develop 60,000 square miles of land in Newfoundland, Canada, which comprised a power station to harness the power of the Hamilton (later renamed Churchill) Falls. At the time this was the largest construction project ever to be undertaken by a private company. 1955: Edmond de Rothschild founds Compagnie Financiere, Paris.
1957: James de Rothschild dies and it is reported (by the Rothschild owned media) that he bequeaths a large sum of money to the state of Israel to pay for the construction of their parliament building, the Knesset. He states that the Knesset should be, “a symbol, in the eyes of all men, of the permanence of the State of Israel.” Maurice de Rothschild dies in Paris.
1962: de Rothschild Frères establishes Imétal as an umbrella company for all their mineral mining interests. Frederic Morton publishes his book, The Rothschilds, in which he states, “Though they control scores of industrial, commercial, mining and tourist corporations, not one bears the name Rothschild. Being private partnerships, the family houses never need to, and never do, publish a single public balance sheet, or any other report of their financial condition.” This attitude reveals the true aim of the Rothschilds, to eliminate all competition and create their own worldwide monopoly.
1963: On June 4th President John F. Kennedy (the 35th President of the United States 1961 – 1963) signs Executive Order 11110 which returned to the U.S. government the power to issue currency, without going through the Rosthchilds owned Federal Reserve. Less than 6 months later on November 22nd, president Kennedy is assassinated by the Rothschilds for the same reason as they assassinated President Abraham Lincoln in 1865, he wanted to print American money for the American people, as oppose to for the benefit of a money grabbing war mongering foreign elite. This Executive Order 11110, is rescinded by President Lyndon Baines Johnson (the 36th President of the United States 1963 to 1969) on Air Force One from Dallas to Washington, the same day as President Kennedy was assassinated. Edmond de Rothschild establishes La Compagnie Financière Edmond de Rothschild (LCF), in Switzerland as a venture capital house. This later develops into an investment bank and asset management company with many affiliates. He also marries his wife Nadine and they have a son, Benjamin de Rothschild.
1967: de Rothschild Frères is renamed Banque Rothschild.
1968: Noémie Halphen, wife of Maurice de Rothschild dies.
1970: British Prime Minister Edward Heath makes Lord Victor Rothschild the head of his policy unit. Whilst he is in that role Britain enters the European Community.
1973: In his book, None Dare Call It Conspiracy, Gary Allen states, “One major reason for the historical blackout on the role of the international bankers in political history is the Rothschilds were Jewish... ....The Jewish members of the conspiracy have used an organisation called The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) as an instrument to try and convince everyone that any mention of the Rothschilds and their allies is an attack on all Jews. Any individual or book exploring this subject is immediately attacked by hundreds of ADL communities all over the country. The ADL has never let the truth or logic interfere with its highly professional smear jobs... ....Actually, nobody has a right to be more angry at the Rothschild clique than their fellow Jews... ....The Rothschild empire helped finance Adolf Hitler.” N. M. Rothschild & Sons British Newfoundland Corporation, Churchill Falls project in Newfoundland, Canada, is completed. N. M. Rothschild & Sons also create a new asset management part of the company which traded worldwide. This eventually became, Rothschild Private Management Limited. Edmond de Rothschild, a great-grandson of Jacob (James) Mayer Rothschild, bought the cru bourgeois estate of Château Clarke in Bordeaux.
1980: The global phenomenon of privatisation starts. The Rothschilds are behind this from the very beginning in order to seize control of all publicly owned assets worldwide.
1981: Banque Rothschild is nationalized by the French government. The new bank is called, Compagnie Européenne de Banque. The Rothschilds subsequently set up a successor to this French bank, Rothschild & Cie Banque (RCB), which goes on to become a leading French investment house.
1985: N. M. Rothschild & Sons advise the British government on the privatization of British Gas. They subsequently advise the British government on virtually all of their other privatizations of state owned assets including: British Steel; British Coal; all the British regional electricity boards; and all the British regional water boards.
1987: Edmond de Rothschild creates the World Conservation Bank which is designed to transfer debts from third world countries to this bank and in return those countries would give land to this bank. This is designed so the Rothschilds can gain control of the third world which represents 30% of the land surface of the Earth.
1988: Philippe de Rothschild dies.
1989: The London and Paris Rothschilds announce the launch of a new subsidiary, Rothschild GmbH, in Frankfurt, Germany.
1995: Former atomic energy scientist, Dr Kitty Little claims the Rothschilds now control 80% of the world’s uranium supplies giving them a monopoly over nuclear power.
1996: Amschel Rothschild, 41, is strangled with the heavy cord of his own towel robe in his hotel room in Paris. French Prime Minister orders the French Police to close their investigation, and Zionist, Rupert Murdoch instructs his editors and news managers around the world to report it as a heart attack, if they need to report it at all.
1997: Edmond de Rothschild dies in Geneva of emphysema.
1998: The European Central Bank is set up in Frankfurt, the city from which the Rothschilds originate.
2001: On September 11th the attack on the World Trade Center is orchestrated by Britain, America and Israel under the orders of the Rothschilds as a pretext for removing the liberty of people worldwide in exchange for security, just as they did with the Reichstag fire in Germany where the citizens were lied to in order to give up liberty for security. They also will use the attacks to gain control of the few nations in the world who don’t allow Rothschild central banks and so less than one month after these attacks, US forces attack Afghanistan, one of only 7 nations in the world who don’t have a Rothschild controlled central bank. One week prior to the WTC attack, the Zim Shipping Company moves out of its offices in the WTC, breaking its lease and costing the company $50,000. No reason has ever been given, but Zim Shipping Company is half owned by the State of Israel (The Rothschilds).
2003: The United States invades Iraq which is now one of six nations left in the world who don’t have a Rothschild controlled central bank.
2005: On 7 July the London Underground Network is bombed. Israel’s Finance Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu is in London on the morning of the attacks in order to attend an economic conference in a hotel over the underground station where one of the blasts occurred, but stayed in his hotel room instead after he had been informed by Israeli intelligence officials attacks were expected. There are now only 5 nations on the world left without a Rothschild controlled central bank: Iran; North Korea; Sudan; Cuba; and Libya.
