Chitika turned out to be better than my expectations. Initially, I expected it to be like the other ordinary CPC programs like Bidclix, Clicksor etc which paid fewww cents a click (something like $0.10 max). After implementing them and checking out the first day stats, I was amazed.

Chitika, by default, uses manual targeting of products to your pages. For each page, you can enter a keyword, or series of keywords, that match the products you would like to promote, and Chitika will show the best matches. Since the ads are manually targeted by default, the program is in compliance with Google's Terms & Conditions for AdSense, and makes an excellent compliment to that program. Chitika does offer an contextual matching option if you are not running AdSense and prefer it. You will need to contact them after joining the program to enable this however.

Uptil 2005-11-16, things were going fine until they introduced a new technology for filtering out so called “curiosity clicks” which caused the CTR to drop by 40% and also the revenue by an equivalent percentage.

Before last month, I was earning constantly around $200 to $300 from one of my sites where I had put Adbrite. This is what I get every month from month after month, so I have almost stopped checking the account stats. But last month, something strange happened, and it seems some advertiser registered through my referral link and now I am making SOME money with it.:)

So last month I made a huge $1,256.26. I found this out yesterday only when I checked my stats for Adbrite (which I rarely do).

Now, this October, I am expecting to be my highest earning month crossing $1500 from that site. Wow!!! I am happy. Adbrite made my day. Its already $850+ for half the month.

I think I need to check my stats with other networks also more frequently. Adsense is not the only one.:D

Edit: Ok, so I checked the stats for referral and yes, Its some network advertiser (or advertisers) who is making me this money. Whoever is it. Thank you.:)

Six Steps to Adsense Success

Step 1 Choose a Niche Market

Everyday there are almost 400 million searches on Google. On each search there is someone that has the top ranking spot. It can be you if you choose your keywords carefully. You need to know how many searches there is on each keyword, and how much competition you have got.

The first step towards successful Adsense campaigns is to find niche markets. To find your own niche market, just take a few minutes with a blank piece of paper and write down what you consider your interests. My interests differs from woodworking, to hiking to healthy living. That is what I design my sites about.

There is no sense in writing articles and putting websites together about stuff that you don't care about. Being interested in something just makes the whole experience that more pleasurable, and you actually have something to say to your audience. Each one of us, knows something that most people don't. Use that specialties of yours and let your creative juices flow.

Step 2 Choose the right keywords and optimize

This step is vitally important if you want to get anywhere with Adsense projects.

First of all you need to make sure that you will target the right niche market as we discussed in the previous step. The next step is to ensure you have to correct keywords to target.

You can download this Free Tool to do this keyword analyzing. I have upgraded to the Professional Version, because this tool is so valuable to me. It does the most part of my work

The beauty of this program is you just give one or two keywords of the niche market that you have explored, and it will check all the competition and see what keywords they are using. Then it will give you a breakdown of how many visitors each keyword receives, how many competition pages there are, and what your changes are of ranking on the specific keyword

It also lets you optimize your site for good keyword ranking on all the major search engines. You can also use this tool to submit your website to all the major search engines. If you feel a intimidated by the search engine gurus, it even has a Web SEO University that will teach you all you need to know.

Step 3 Design your site carefully

I so often see websites with Adsense ads splashed all over them and then I wonder if those people will ever make money with Adsense. The best advice I ever received in this regard was to watch Michael Cheney's Adsense Videos. They are great. You learn so much by watching them.

Once you watch his videos, you need to get on his mailing list. This guy has got a lot to say about Adsense Ads

He will teach you exactly how to design your site and how to create your ads to give you the most revenue.

In his package he also offers a free copy of his product Adsense Clinic where he will actually go through a few websites with you and explain why each adsense ad was placed correctly or incorrectly. This has helped me personally a lot to get my own ads sorted out.

Designing your site also includes the fact that you must make sure that you have relevant content on your site and in the next step I will tell you a little more about that.

When you have been involved with adsense for some time, you will get to know that offering your customers adsense and affiliate products in a well presented manner can give you far more income than just splashing hundreds of pages together that the search engines might get banned in any case. Give your visitors something of value, and they will keep on coming back.

I often go to my statistics and check how many people actually bookmark my site. This gives me an indication of whether they think they will come back to read what I offer them

Step 4 Add good content

Google and the other search engines are looking more and more for websites that have good solid content and not just something that is duplicated over and over again. Take the time to write ten great articles for your site and publish them not only on your site but on all other Article Publishing sites.

It is so easy to get sidetracked and start using content from article sites that you can pick up for free. The only problem with that is that there are thousands of people using the same article. If it is your own article it is a different story because then you will have thousands of links pointing to your site.

I have always found that whenever I create unique content and submitted the website, it will rank tops on the keywords that I have optimized it for. The reason is simple. Google says that they want to offer their visitors high quality content that is unique and that is relevant to the search.

Just think about that for a moment. If you will supply good content that is relevant to your visitors search, Google can change their algorithm a thousand times and you will always rank high. The reason Google changes their algorithm is especially to chuck the guys out that wants to cheat their way to the top.

So you say, well I cant write good content. Yes you can. Just go and sit down and write 500 words about the subject that you likes the most. People can talk for hours on the subject that they are interested in. Why can't you write 500 words about it. Whether it is fishing, dancing, eating, sport or whatever. Once again, find the niche that is your interest and you will have plenty to write about.

Once you have written your articles go to a few article publishing sites by searching "free articles" on Google and submit your articles. People will publish your articles and create links back to your website with many visitors to follow.

Step 5 Make sure your links are in place

Links is a great necessity and you need them very much. Google prefers sites that have lots of links pointing to them from good quality sites with the same type of content. It is very time consuming but learn about it, it will be well worth the effort.

For many years I missed out on great traffic because I underestimated the power of creating valuable links to my sites.

You can basically have different types of links

You can create links from all kinds of directories for instance. They will be one way links or reciprocal links. If you add the link back to their site, you will have a link that will follow through to your site by search engines.

Maybe the most important links will be the ones that are given to you by quality web sites with the same content as yours. Although this can be a time consuming task I would like to encourage you to go through the drills and add those links. Be aware though that if you place too many links in a short period, Google will think you are spamming them and trying to outsmart them. They might just ban your site for that. Rather add no more than 5 links per day to your site.

The most efficient way that I have found to increase my links without all the effort is by using 3 way links from this site

My suggestion to you will be the following, work out a linking campaign and stick to it. Make sure you understand the importance of linking and how to do it. There is more to it than just sticking a few links up there.

3 Way Links is a good way to go, especially if you haven't got the time.

Step 6 Track your Site

It is very important to know what is happening on your site. Which pages are being visited, where do people click on them, how do they perform, where does your visitors come from etc... I will introduce you to a great tool to do this.

When you shoot at a target, you need to know what exactly it is you shooting at. Shooting in the dark with a lot of ammunition does not help at all. You will rather use one bullet and shoot in daylight. The chances are that you will rather succeed with this option.

The same goes for your site. If you know where your visitors come from and where they go on your site it is much easier to control your visitors and find out where they are making you money.

One of the biggest questions that has been asked of me lately is how do I increase the traffic to my websites. In this post I will break it down so even the most computer illiterate person will be able to understand how to use these techniques. We will look at just five avenues that I have used just recently that have increased my website page views from one hundred a day to three hundred a day to now over five hundred a day on a site that is very new. The increase in the hits is not limited to that amount either. The amount of increase that one might see from these techniques is all subject to what you put into the work required to do it. Really though, it can all get done in forty five minutes. So basically for the time that it takes you to take a lunch hour you can accomplish an increase in your website hits. All that we will talk about in this article is free products. So, without any further ado, let's get started.

The first and foremost thing that I do is make sure that I have fresh content on my page daily. The one thing that people that subscribe to blogs hate is the fact that it takes 2 or 3 days to get a new post. It is very important that you put new content on daily. Another thing that you want to do is make sure that the content is interesting. The one thing that you would hate to do is write something that is just off the wall and have it bomb. That is the quickest way to lose subscribers. Having multiple posts in a day is a great thing to as it gives the subscriber a choice of what they want to read.

The next thing that I do is use a program that is called “Share This.” At the bottom of this Hub is a link to get the program. It can be loaded onto your toolbar for easy use. This product is different than other share programs because it pulls up as a companion of the window that you are in. The program allows for you to email your post out to as many people as you want, driving them to your page to read more. It also allows for you to load your post into social networks like FaceBook, MySpace, and Twitter. All of which are good to promote your blogs. The main things that drive people to you is the fact that this allows for you to submit your posts to Digg, Reddit, Mister Wong, BlinkList, Stumble Upon, Newsvine, Mixx, del.icio.us, Google Bookmark, yahoo Bookmark, FriendsFeed, and Technorati. The reason that I mention all of these is because they are what I use and they are proven to work. This is done for each and every post that you write to your blog. Once again, links are at the bottom and can be clicked on to sign up.

The next product that I use is called Link Referral. It is a very easy concept which requires you to visit 30 sites, review 5 sites, make one comment in a forum, and add one new site to your favorites each day. In doing this, it drives business to you. It can drive as much as 20 to 60 unique visitors a day, and ultimately that is what you are after. It is limited in what it can do, but ultimately for the time spent and the extras that are given, it is great.

The last product that I actually use is EntreCard. It is a unique program in that there is no limitation on what you can do per day. The purpose is to drive people to your site by visiting another member's site and “dropping off your card”. This signifies to the other site owner that you came by and typically they will visit your site also by clicking on your card and dropping theirs off. This is only one way of creating the traffic to your site through them. The second way is by advertising on another website. Now, first, mind you it does not cost cash. The site is ran off credits and the more credits that you earn the more you can spend. When someone accepts your advertisement they have agreed that for a 24 hour period a card that signifies your website will sit on theirs as a form of advertisement. When I first got into this practice I was skeptical until I actually saw 100 members come by my page in one day to drop off their card. As with the other programs, this one is linked below.

Now, here is the one that I like the most. I call it reciprocal commenting. The theory behind this is if you come to my site and comment on one of my post, and I have a way of tracking back to your site, I will seek you out and comment on yours. This is a great practice as ultimately if you have people that come visit you regularly, then half the work is done. I also think that if you spend the time to come to my site to comment then I need to take the time to comment on yours as well.
