S.T.R ..
My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a party, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance)

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.)
She had suffered a stroke at the party . Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.

Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this...

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Remember the '3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.
The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions :

S * Ask the individual to SMILE ..
T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg 'It is sunny out today').
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

NOTE : Another 'sign' of a stroke is
1. Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue..
2. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

A prominent cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

and it could be your own...

PASS THIS ONE.
I had almost forgotten how to check the classpath set via command prompt.

I am using windows XP. First I checked the classpath set in Environment Variables of my computer.

My Computer (Right Click) -> Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables

It was time consuming and difficult to cross check the classpath set in computer.

Then I searched in internet and found the command to print the classpath set in my computer.

I thought its better to post this piece of information in blog rather searching everything when
I do a set up of a Product.

Command to print classpath set in cmd:

echo %classpath% - it prints the class path set in your computer.
echo %path% - it prints the path set in your computer.

Command to set the class path in computer:

set classpath=<give>

I did the set up for eclipse. Now when I tried to run Eclipse I got an error, a run-time exception.

java.lang.RuntimeException: Could not find framework
    at org.eclipse.core.launcher.Main.getBootPath(Main.java:635)
    at org.eclipse.core.launcher.Main.basicRun(Main.java:272)
    at org.eclipse.core.launcher.Main.run(Main.java:973)
    at org.eclipse.core.launcher.Main.main(Main.java:948)

It took quite a long time for me to realize that this exception is due to faulty installation of eclipse.

If the eclipse is copied from some one or if it is not installed properly, files required to run eclipse
will not available. In that case eclipse will throw run time exception as given above.

How to fix this issue?

If this error occurs then eclipse should be deleted completely and new one should be installed properly.

After its installed properly, check the class path. If the class path is also correct then eclipse will run properly.

If the issue still persists then my suggestion would be to post your issue at Eclipse website.

This is my experience. Hope this could be of helpful to some one...

Hi There

so here i am, at last writing my first blog... thanks to anil for inviting me to contribute to this blog. so what can you expect from me? expect the unexpected!!!

see you all soon.... ;)

Cool entrepreneur!!! check it out

Hi folks,

Long time since i blogged, work is getting as hectic as it can get.
I kinda got a small break during work so simply browsed through the net and found this kool info, I thought it would be nice to share with you guys too.
Those of you who own cars and are worried about how to manage your pockets with the fuel costs rocketing high .... this is just for you.

A guy in Punjab has started this web site , on registering car owners will be paid for carrying advertisements on their cars and advertisers will be able to take advantage of this new and unexplored medium of advertisement.

You want to know more follow the link below...

www.cashurdrive.com.

What the power of positive thinking means?

Positive thinking is a mental attitude that admits into the mind thoughts, words and images that are conductive to growth, expansion and success. It is a mental attitude that expects good and favorable results. A positive mind anticipates happiness, joy, health and a successful outcome of every situation and action. Whatever the mind expects, it finds.

What the power of positive thinking means?

The following story illustrates how this power works.
Allan applied for a new job, but as his self-esteem was low, and he considered himself as a failure and unworthy of success, he was sure that he was not going to get the job. He had a negative attitude towards himself, and believed that the other applicants were better and more qualified than him. Allan manifested this attitude, due to his negative past experiences with job interviews.

His mind was filled with negative thoughts and fears concerning the job for the whole week before the job interview. He was sure he would be rejected. On the day of the interview he got up late, and to his horror he discovered that the shirt he had planned to wear was dirty, and the other one needed ironing. As it was already too late, he went out wearing a shirt full of wrinkles.

During the interview he was tense, displayed a negative attitude, worried about his shirt, and felt hungry because he did not have enough time to eat breakfast. All this distracted his mind and made it difficult for him to focus on the interview. His overall behavior made a bad impression, and consequently he materialized his fear and did not get the job.

Jim applied for the same job too, but approached the matter in a different way. He was sure that he was going to get the job. During the week preceding the interview he often visualized himself making a good impression and getting the job.

In the evening before the interview he prepared the clothes he was going to wear, and went to sleep a little earlier. On day of the interview he woke up earlier than usual, and had ample time to eat breakfast, and then to arrive to the interview before the scheduled time.

He got the job because he made a good impression. He had also of course, the proper qualifications for the job, but so had Allan.

What do we learn from these two stories? Is there any magic employed here? No, it is all natural. When the attitude is positive we entertain pleasant feelings and constructive images, and see in our mind's eye what we really want to happen. This brings brightness to the eyes, more energy and happiness. The whole being broadcasts good will, happiness and success. Even the health is affected in a beneficial way. We walk tall and the voice is more powerful. Our body language shows the way you feel inside.

Practical Instructions

In order to turn the mind toward the positive, inner work and training are required. Attitude and thoughts do not change overnight.

Read about this subject, think about its benefits and persuade yourself to try it. The power of thoughts is a mighty power that is always shaping our life. This shaping is usually done subconsciously, but it is possible to make the process a conscious one. Even if the idea seems strange give it a try, as you have nothing to lose, but only to gain. Ignore what others might say or think about you, if they discover that you are changing the way you think.

Always visualize only favorable and beneficial situations. Use positive words in your inner dialogues or when talking with others. Smile a little more, as this helps to think positively. Disregard any feelings of laziness or a desire to quit. If you persevere, you will transform the way your mind thinks.

Once a negative thought enters your mind, you have to be aware of it and endeavor to replace it with a constructive one. The negative thought will try again to enter your mind, and then you have to replace it again with a positive one. It is as if there are two pictures in front of you, and you choose to look at one of them and disregard the other. Persistence will eventually teach your mind to think positively and ignore negative thoughts.

In case you feel any inner resistance when replacing negative thoughts with positive ones, do not give up, but keep looking only at the beneficial, good and happy thoughts in your mind.

It does not matter what your circumstances are at the present moment. Think positively, expect only favorable results and situations, and circumstances will change accordingly. It may take some time for the changes to take place, but eventually they do.
I really felt good after reading this from a website:
http://www.successconsciousness.com/index_000009.htm.

:)

Quartz - 3

  We saw that a class that implements the job interface is the actual job, now if you want to pass more information to the Quartz you would be using the JobDetail class.
Lets talk about the JobDetail in detail....

JobDetail jobDetail= new JobDetail("first job",sched.DEFAULT_GROUP,"firstjob.class");

Take a closer look at the snippet given above you 'll see that we are supplying the job with the detail of the job class. Everytime the scheduler executes the job creates new instances of the class calling its execute method.
Now lets get to know more about the Trigger's that are associated with each JOB. There are two types of triggers in Quartz :- SimpleTrigger and CronTrigger.

SimpleTrigger :-

You can use the Simple Trigger in cases where you want your job  to execute exactly once or at a specific moment in time followed by repeats at specific intervals. Lets take a look at one;

SimpleTrigger trigger= new SimpleTrigger("firstTrigger", sched.DEFAULT_GROUP, new Date(),SimpleTrigger.REPEAT_INDEFINITELY,60L*1000L);

The constructor takes a start time and a end-time and the repeat interval. The repeat interval can be either 0 or a positive number or a constant
REPEAT_INDEFINITELY and repeats the number of milliseconds.Note that the end time property overrides the repeat count of the REPEAT_INDEFINITELY.

CronTrigger :-

You would go for Cron Trigger if you want your job to fire according to the calendar. You can set CronTriggers that fires every Friday at 12 pm or between 12 pm and 1pm.
CronExpressions are used to configure instances of the Trigger. A CronExpression is made of 6 sub-expressions they are -

# Seconds
# Minutes
# Hours
# Day-of-Month
# Month
#Day-of-Week

We can pass special characters like "0 0/5 ***?" this would means; creates a trigger that fires every 5 minutes.

"10 0/5 ***?" this would create a trigger that fires at 1.30,11.30....

You can get to know more about the Triggers and its expressions by reffering the doc files..

Well thats it for today... :)

Do correct me if I have made any mistakes and comments are most welcomed

Method Local inner class and static inner class.

Argument-Defined Anonymous Inner Class:
This type inner class can be instantiated using new keyword. It is declared, defined and automatically instantiated as part of a method invocation.

class A{
void do(){
B b=new B();
b.call(new C(){
public void show(){
System.out.println("This is argument-defined anonymous inner class");
}
});//This end quite different than other anonymous inner class.
}
}
interface C{
public void show();
}
class B{
void call(){
......
}
}

This type of inner class is also called as Method Local Inner class.
Its important to remember that, this class is declared only during method invocation and hence it is accessible only after the method invocation.

Can a class be declared static??
The inner class can be marked static and hence it is called Static Nested class.
It is a top level nested class. That means that an instance of the outer class is not required to instantiate this class.

class A{
static class B{
void show(){
System.out.println("This is a static nested class");
}
}
}

The class B can be instantiated by A.B b=new A.B(); as simple as that.

As this is static class it will not have access to any non static member of the class

Declarations, initialization, and scoping Continued...

A class can be extended by another class and hence reuse the methods and variable of the class extended. This is called Inheritance.

class A
{
…..
}

class B extends A
{
…….
}
A class that contains at least one abstract method must be marked abstract. The class
That is marked abstract is called abstract class. Abstract class may or may not contain
abstract method. It’s important to remember that when a class is abstract, it can not be instantiated. An abstract class must be subclass to make it concrete and hence it can be instantiated.
For example:

abstract class A
{
abstract void aMethod();
}
class B entends A
{
void aMethod()
{
……..
}
}

A anInstance = new A(); // will fail on compile
B anInstance = new B();           //will compile and execute
A anInstance = new B(); // will compile and execute

A class can also contain another class as its member. Such class is called Nested Class or Inner class.

class  A
{
class B
{
…..
}
}

In this case the class B shares with an instance of class A. The inner class can access all members of the outer class even those marked as private.

To create instance of class B inside class A
B instanceB = new B();
To create instance of class B outside class A
A.B  instanceB = new A().new B();

Important point to remember is that inner class can not have static members. Similarly the inner class can not instantiated from a static method of the outer class. Don’t forget, in static code there is no this reference (reference to the current instance). The only way to create instance of inner class in static method is to outer class.
A.B instanceB = new A().new B();

Even though the inner class can access all members of outer class, how can the inner class reference the outer class instance? Inside inner class this references the inner class instance, so this can not be used to reference the outer class instance. In that case the outer class instance can be referenced as A.this.

class  A
{
class B
{
System.out.println(“Outer class ref :”+A.this);
}
}

The modifiers that can be applied to an inner class are final, abstract, static, strictfp, public, private, protected and default.

It’s now clear that a class can have another class in it. Do you that a method can also have a class inside it. Yes, such class is called Method Local Inner class.

class A
{
void doTest()
{
class B
{
……….
}
}
}

A method-local inner class can be instantiated only within the method where the inner class is defined. This type of inner class can also access all members of outer class.
But the method-local inner class can not access the local variable of the method the inner class is in. The reason is that the local variables of the method are placed in stack and hence it exists only till the method has scope. Even when the method completes, the instance of the method-local inner class is still alive on heap. When the local variable is marked final, then the inner class can access the local variable of the method. The modifiers that can apply to method-local inner class are abstract and final. Remember, it can either be abstract or final not both.

Next let us go through what is anonymous inner class? An inner class declared without any class name is called Anonymous Inner class.

class A
{
public void aMethod()
{
…..
}
}
class B
{
A aInstance = new A() {                       //anonymous inner class
public void aMethod(){
……
}
};
}

Another example of anonymous inner class is an anonymous implementer of the specified interface type.

interface SampleInterface
{
public void aMethod();
}
class SampleClass
{
SampleInterface si=new SampleInterface() {
public void aMethod()
{
…..
}
};
}

Here it’s not instantiating a SampleInterface object; it’s not creating an instance of a new anonymous implementer of SampleInterface. A class can extend only one class and implement more than one interface. But in case of anonymous inner class can be implementer of only one interface. If the anonymous inner class is a subclass of a class type, it automatically becomes an implementer of any interface implemented by the superclass.

Quartz Continued - 2

We had discussed the very basic details about the framework now lets start digging in.

To start working with quartz we need to download the quartz.jar files . You can download it from www.opensymphony.com/quartz . There are some more jar files required ..

Commons BeanUtils

Commons Collections

Commons Digester

Commons Logging

Jta.jar

    The main purpose of using the quartz framework is to get some process to executed at a fixed interval. This process in the quartz framework is called the job. The process or the procedure you want to execute at regular intervals is called the job. This class must implement the interface Job and hence override the function execute(). execute() takes JobExecutionContext as an argument. and throws JobExecutionException. We can pass parameters to the job using the JobDataMap which is an impementation of the java.util.map.

Jobs can be further divided into 2 they areStateful jobs and non-stateful jobs, now deciding which of these you want to use depends on whether you want to change these parameters during execution.
Reference: Quartz job scheduling framework ; by Cavaness, Chuck

Job
Scheduling in Java; http://www.onjava.com/

Free your mind and blog

SCJP 5:Declarations, initialization, and scoping

Declarations, initialization, and scoping

All About Quartzz......... - 1

Quartz , what is it? titan, timex,omega.... ;)

Don't worry am not selling watches... Quartz an open source framework ,is a scheduling framework. You want a job to be executed at a particular time at a particular time or everyday at 1pm you want a process to execute without you being there to execute it , Quartz is your answer.

I was assigned the job to find a way to schedule jobs , searching the net I found 2 open sources Quartz and Flux. Going through each I found Quartz a little interesting and went for it. I couldn't find much about the it and hence thought I'll do my research.

Quartz can be integrated with any J2SE or J2EE applications. It provides simple but powerful mechanisms for job scheduling. Its light-weight and requires very little configuration/setup. It gives the user the option to create schedulers that fire once or at a particular time everyday. There are options to also handle setbacks in case the jobs fail to start and hence giving the user full control over the jobs.

I'll continue with Quartz in small chunks ; comments are most welcomed. if you feel am wrong do correct me ..

Free your mind and blog

Free your mind and blog

SCJP 5

Hi,
I am preparing myself for scjp certification.So I thought why don't I blog what I learn.
Friends! let me know if you feel I have gone wrong...
Thanks,
smartace

Let me start with the introduction to scjp which I collected from java.sun.com and continue blogging with each chapter I cover.
SCJP is a certification which helps you to bench mark the level of knowledge you have in java programming, libraries and api.There is multiple level of certification offered by Sun. The exam can be taken up at any authorized Prometric training center around the world.
Sun offers seven Java-related certification exams:
• Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP)
• Sun Certified Java Developer (SCJD)
• Sun Certified Web Component Developer (SCWCD)
• Sun Certified Business Component Developer (SCBCD)
• Sun Certified Mobile Application Developer (SCMAD)
• Sun Certified Enterprise Architect (SCEA)
• Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services (SCDJWS)

SCJP 5 certification exam totally contains 46 questions, out of which 27 should be correct to be pass. That means the pass mark is 58%. Duration of the exam is 105 minutes.
Exam objectives:
The seven categories of objectives for the exam are as follows:
1. Declarations, initialization, and scoping
2. Flow control
3. API contents
4. Concurrency
5. Object-oriented concepts
6. Collections/generics
7. Fundamentals

Free your mind and blog

take a break and smile

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px;
