PIKA PIKA (visual light art)

2009-12-29T09:29:00.001-08:00

A d.i.y light graffiti.

Actually is not very difficult to do.

All you need is a

1) fairly good camera

2) Tripod (attach camera to tripod)

3) Lighting device(ie torchlight, handphone etc)

3) Set camera to –> MANUAL mode

a) shutter : 15 ~30 secs (ie time-frame for you to do your “masterpiece”

b) iso : 100

4) press the snap button~

Once finished, it might take some time to process the images. And there you have it~

your very own light graffiti~ =)

There is one famous guy in japan who created moving light art graffiti which is even amazing..

Not only it requires the “light art” but also need tedious work of “stop animation work”

Check this out.

http://yon246.googlepages.com/ywxwithmusic.swf
(too bad cannot embed inside blogger due XML file is also required)

Screenshot

Of course, i am not that smart. i learnt from internet.
Need some time to figure out the source code in order to make it more "customizable".haa..

Right now, time to find a large webspace. =) (current is only 100MB!)

1 Month old!

2009-03-08T09:06:00.000-07:00

A d.i.y gift for my another 2 niece..Yu wei and Yu Xuan..

IImagine so far just started living for 1 month..(and i am really feel old le..haa..Somehow i feel, they are still trying to get their eyes focus on near objects..

We start life by not able to walk, sight slowly focusing, no hair, no teeth..and as we grow older, we seem to go back to the circumstances as when we were babies..

...........life....is..like a cycle..whatever..

And also, 1st time trying XML to load pictures. With help of kirupa.com of course.
http://yon246.googlepages.com/ywx.swf
Yippee! Next step is to create a better d.i.y customizable photo album.

Microtrends – the small forces behind tomorrow’s big changes

2009-01-17T21:01:00.001-08:00

Microtrends – the small forces behind tomorrow’s big changes

Just finished reading this book.
I suppose thru-out the years, this microtrends has been around us all this time, just that we never really pay much attention to it.
Although this book context is mainly emphasizing in US, but I feel some of the micro-trends mentioned can be widely felt through out the whole world.
Author has remarkable gift for detecting patterns and identifying trends.

Some of the interesting micro-trends (and my brief description)

Internet Marrieds – Nowadays, with most time buried in work, a lot of people found their other half via internet. Trend is steadily increasing though.

Interracial Families – Love transcends all races.

Sun-haters – Though sun offers free vitamin D, well, it also comes with the risk of skin cancer.

30-winkers – Number of people who sleep less than 6 hours is rising fast. Not surprisingly, 7 out of 10 night owls is from ASIA..haa..
Ranking top is Taiwan, with Singapore ranking 5th spot.(not bad)
But surprisingly, asian nations make up half the early-bird nations as well.(those who wake up before 7am).
Great.. So generally, most asian sleep very late and wake up very early..haa

DIY doctors – With internet, it is possible that everyone can play a doctor themselves, buying medicine over the counter.

Aspiring Snipers – Most young listed being a sniper as dream job. Sleath covered yet inflict maximum damage to enemy

High School Moguls – Internet entrepreneur from high school.

Shy Millionaires – Millionaires can be classified into 6 categories. One such category is “Satisfied Savers”, group who live frugally and below their means.
And their traits are that money is emphasized on 1) investing, 2) letting their children attend private schools 3) Giving to charity..

Educated Terrorists – What causes highly educated beings to join terrorist group to cause harm to people?Lack of warmth/love from family friends + disillusioned and disappointed with political systems.

Office romancer – “Don’t mix business with pleasure”

Neglected Dads – Little emphasis and attention on Dads.

Social Geeks – With networking sites like friendster/face-book, the average insocial geek is turning social

Young knitters – Knitting has evolved to being a cool activity for youngster.

Southpaws unbound – Lefties unite! Didn’t know that the word “left” was associated with a lot of negativity meaning in different languages.
Ie, Sinister = from Latin “LEFT”
French “LEFT”= gauche = awkward.
Over the years, lefties has been denied a comfortable space of living…ie most things are designed for righties..
However, most great people are lefties! Like, Leonardo Da Vinci, michaelangeolo, Picasso, Beethoven, Einstein, Isaac Newton, Ben Franklin, Alexander the great, Julius Caesar, Napoleon….

A lot more trends..

I suppose when micro-trends start to get big, maybe its time to think of $$ making ideas to deal and cope with the trend...haa..

My Life Story

2009-01-02T23:21:00.000-08:00

Nice song to share.

A Song i'm fond of when i 1st heard (even till now).

Recall the 1st time i heard it was some DBS commercial jingle (if i'm not wrong; around Primary School times..how time flies..).

Anyway, Lyrics are meaningful too..

Life Story - dick Lee

Wake up, she said

Look it's a beautiful day

Just my life story

Minute by second a story

That goes on forever with each breath that I take

This is my life story

Uneventful a story

That ages with each year and birthday cake..

Flash Lite 1.1
Kinda like Flash for mobile devices.
Although some advance functions could not be used, but, often simplicity is good enough.
Attemptted to create analog clocks for handphones..(via online tutorials).
hmm..here are the attempts.. (haa..it's a crappy clock)

Most new phones are already equipped with Flash Lite standalone player.

Tested for Nokia 6210 Navigator

Music is life...

くるみ- Mr. Children

English translation:

Say Kurumi

How does this town look in your eyes?

How do I look like to you now?

Say Kurumi

Someone's kindness only seems like sarcasm

What can I do at a time like this?

Pondering about the good old days

Makes me feel older than I really am

But still, in life

Things are about to change

And I must be a part of it.

As there is more hope, there is more despair

But my heart still trembles when I think about tomorrow"

How will tomorrow be?"

Let's dream about it now.

Story of tommy and laura

2008-10-26T19:25:00.000-07:00

Tell laura i love her - Ray peterson

Laura and Tommy were lovers

He wanted to give her everything

Flowers, presents, but most of all, a wedding ring

He saw a sign for a stock car race

A thousand dollar prize it read

He couldn't get Laura on the phone

So to her mother, Tommy said

Tell Laura I love her

Tell Laura I need her

Tell Laura I may be late

I've something to do, that cannot wait

He drove his car to the racing grounds

He was the youngest driver there

The crowed roared as they started the race

Around the track they drove at a deadly pace

No one knows what happened that day

Or how his car overturned in flames

But as they pulled him from the twisted wreck

With his dying breath, they heard him say

Tell Laura I love her

Tell Laura I need her

Tell Laura not to cry

My love for her will never die

Now in the chapel where Laura prays

For her poor Tommy, who passed away

It was just for Laura he lived and died

Alone in the chapel she can hear him cry

Laura's reply - Tell tommy that i miss him - skeeta Davis

Tommy my sweet heart has gone now

He's up in the heaven somewhere

so little star high above

If you see Tommy tell him all my love

Tell Tommy I love him, tell Tommy I miss him

Tell him thro' I may cry, My love for her will never die

He drove his car in the stock car race

To win money so we could wed

He wanna so much to make me his wife

Mow my lovely Tom though he lost his life

I'm so lonely without him near

Oh, how I miss his warm embrace

I love no other, I want him to know

Oh little star please tell him so

Although he wanted to give me the world

Why did he do such a reckless thing

Little star he should realize

I was wretched and mean when he looked into my eyes

Tell Tommy I love him, tell Tommy I miss him

Tell him thro' I may cry, My love for her will never die

..

haa..didn't know theres a follow-up to this original song..
