Manasalogy Movie Review
Will someone please tell us why they make Amulya putti mouth such heavy philosophical dialogues in every film? Ratnaja did it in Premism and now, debutant director Deepak Aras has done the same in Manasalogy. We believe giving such philosophical drab to Amulya is almost tantamount to child exploitation and the government should take some immediate action to stop it. Poor Amulya. While heroines twice her age get to do all the naughty things in films of other languages; here she is, lecturing on various aspects of life which could give Acharya Rajneesh a complex. Grow up, babe; or shall we say, please don’t grow up, baby!

The lecture starts from the first frame, where Amulya starts blabbering something about getting wet in the rain. And then, she gets inside a music class. That’s a class without a teacher and she is a lass without a bother. She dishes out another heavy duty philosophical dialogue about getting the permission of parents before falling in love, and then comes the killer punch. After droning so much, she abruptly stops and says, “enough talking, now let’s get back to studies!” But the less we talk about the story, the better it is. Amoolya is music student who is in love with Manas. Both are a match made in heaven as he has some stunningly clichéd poems up his sleeve to answer Amoolya’s boring discourses on life.

Both chat endlessly on their phone, and one day, her lover dies before meeting her (no, incessant talking has nothing do with it). Another dude (Vishwas) tries to impersonate this dead poet and impress Amoolya. In the end Amoolya again lectures about the purity of true love (whatever the heck that means) and a bored Vihswas just walks off (just kidding, he walks off crying, but both expressions on his face almost looked the same) Amoolya-Rakesh But how could Vishwas imitate a dead person whom he hadn’t even heard about? How did he know that he was reciting poems to Amulya? How does Amulya’s father’s buddy (a good actor, by the way) manages to get Viswas’s address and phone number whom he had just met once in a mall? Nobody cares, and you shouldn’t too. Amulya should try and play her age. Often, we use this phrase to the ageing heroes and heroines who try to act young.

But here is a cute young heroine who behaves like a headmistress of a school in her every recent film. Although she has put in weight, she still looks cute when she is silent. But when she starts talking, my nanny looks more cheerful and interesting. Vishwas tries his best but he has a long way to go. Achyuta Rao is the only saving grace of this film and he has completely come out of Anant Nag’s shadow and started giving some memorable performances on his own strength now. After Slum Bala, and Nanu Nanna Kanasu, this is another film where he gets a meaty role and comes up with a commendable performance. It looks odd in the entirety of this film, but his role is really well written and he has carried off well. Couple of tunes from Anoop are good. Listen to them and enjoy; but don’t stretch your luck too much and land up in the theatre!

Dookudu Story:Movie Review
Story starts in 90′s where Shankar Narayana(Prakash Raj) is a kind of man who lives for people. He always to do good for people and he wants his son Ajay(Mahesh Babu) to follow his footsteps too. One day Kota Srinivas Rao who was being threatened by Prakash Raj to stop his illegal activities has murdered Prakash Raj and Satyam(Rajeev Kanakala) his brother with the help of some of Shankar Narayana team members. The story moves to today. Mumbai is threatened by Nayak(Sonu Sood) who is most wanted criminal and Don. Suman who is commissioner has been assigned to catch Nayak but he fails to catch him. Then comes the introduction Ajay, who becomes Police Officer and he will be assigned to Nayak. He catch one of his main team member but Nayak kills him in the jail and the Ajay and his team are suspended.
But Ajay and his team will decide to catch Nayak’s brother who he thinks will be helpful to catch Nayak. He will get information that his brother will go to Turkey, Istanbul to meet his girlfriend. SO they go to Turkey to catch him. There he see’s Prashanthi(Samantha) and will fall in love with her. He will mistake her as Nayak’s brother girlfriend and will start a fight with her and will be mean with her. But later he finds out that she is not the one they are searching for and then again he follows her to gain her love. Prashanthi is fashion technology student who comes to Turkey to participate in a fashion competition but will tell her father Nazar who is Ajay senior officer that she is going to Delhi for writing IAS exams. In this process Ajay and his team will find Nayak’s brother and Ajay kills him and Nayak will come to India to avenge his brother’s death.

Here comes the twist, Shankar Narayana will be in hospital alive but will be in coma all these years and he doesn’t know anything about what happened. He still thinks that his son is a politician and all his team members are safe and his brother Satyam is alive too. Then Ajay with the help of Padmasri (Bramhanandam) who is greedy for money will make a drama to make his father believe everything he thinks was right. The rest of the story is about how he makes his father believe? How he will take revenge of his father’s killers?

On Monday, Sunil Bohra, co-producer of the forthcoming Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster, is planning a special preview of the film for late filmmaker Guru Dutt’s family, including his sister Lalita Lajmi, her filmmaker-daughter Kalpana Lajmi, his first cousin Shyam Benegal and son Arun Dutt. “I’ve already spoken to Shyam babu, who is in Delhi, and he has promised to be there. It’s a film he had shortlisted as a must-watch even before we extended the invitation,” says Bohra.

However, he is quick to refute misconceptions that the first screening for the Dutts is because his film is a contemporary take on the black-and-white classic, Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam (1962) that he admits to having watched a few times.
“There are no similarities and no comparisons,” Bohra asserts. “It’s just that the two words, sahib (master) and biwi (wife) have become iconic today thanks to Guru Dutt’s film. When Tigmanshu (director Tigmanshu Dhulia) and I were brainstorming on a title, we locked on these two words first since the story is about a husband and a wife, then added the Aur Gangster because his entry turns their world topsy-turvy. It’s a different and wacky story having little in common with the original apart from the fact that my sahib is also of royal blood, a prince who’s lost everything but his family pride.”

The film is set in Uttar Pradesh but was shot in Badai near Surat, Gujarat. “The rajasahab (king) is a friend of Tigmanshu’s and we filmed at his palace. And the costumes of Jimmy (Shergil) and Mahie (Gill) are designed by Digvijay Singh, who is a prince himself,” informs Bohra, adding that his actors, along with the crew, took huge pay cuts to give the film its rich’ look. “We were like a group of friends working towards living out a technicolor dream.”
Interestingly, just last month, Mahie played the lead in Ram Gopal Varma’s Not A Love Story in which her character was modelled on Maria Susiaraj, who was an accomplice to the horrific murder of Neeraj Grover, along with her fiancé Emile Jerome. After seeing her as an aspiring Bollywood starlet who swings to the Rangeela beat, will people accept her as a regal biwi? “Why not?” quips Bohra, who produced the earlier film. “Not A Love Story got her a lot of appreciation as an actor and that can only help when she returns with a drastically-different role. Didn’t people accept Meena Kumari as a woman who takes to drinking in a desperate bid to keep her saiyan (lover) home back in the ’60s? Why won’t they accept Mahie?”

Puncture Movie Review
While most audiences are looking forward to Chris Evans this summer as a Nazi-fighting superhero in Captain America: The First Avenger, there’s another film that may slip under the radar. Puncture tells the true story of Mike Weiss (Evans), a young Houston lawyer who seems dedicated to his profession and the clients he works for. There’s a catch though: he’s a drug addict with a seedy lifestyle.The combination of his ethics when it comes to doing his job and Evans’ charisma make him surprisingly likable. But things get much more serious when he decides to take on the case of an ER nurse (Vinessa Shaw) who contracted HIV three years prior when she unsuccessfully attempted to give a shaking patient an injection. She’s been given worker’s compensation for this horrible accident, but her lawsuit has to do with the medical supplies groups’ refusal to purchase new, safer syringes invented by her friend, Jeffrey Dancort (Marshall Bell).

At first, him and his law partner, Paul Danzinger (co-director Mark Kassen), wonder why the companies don’t simply use these safer devices that would prevent 800,000 accidents per year. But they soon uncover an industry that is run by the wealthy who put dollars ahead of saved lives.

Though they fight for what’s absolutely the right thing, they have little support due to the financial influence the larger corporations wield. The movie effectively shows the painfully meticulous steps that need to be taken by the two lawyers representing Dancort in order to establish this as a legitimate case. As the film goes on, one roots for them to keep making that extra step which will hopefully place these syringes in every hospital in America. A slimy executive (Brett Cullen) defending the big businesses acts as a human representation of their biggest obstacle: the man with the money often comes out on top.

This is a story that we’ve seen before (Erin Brokovich, for example), but we rarely – if ever – get a crusader for the greater good that’s as flawed as Weiss. The commitment he has for his profession is very much real, but drugs often put the case and his career in jeopardy. We get some of the broader strokes of how it affects him: he’s late for a meeting, his wife leaves him, and there’s the risk of being caught by the police.But it’s the finer details that drive home how dangerous his addiction can get. While Evans is in good physical condition, he always has a haggard, sick look in his face, and getting caught doing drugs by a Senator almost gets him off the case. This adds an extra conflict to everything, and gives the movie a more personal edge that it may have otherwise lacked.

Directors Adam and Mark Kassen both display incredible skill making their feature directing debut. Much of the work done with focus and shot placement/composition would be impressive for those making their fifth movie, let alone first. Unfortunately, not every choice made by the duo works. There’s the occasional stylistic flourish, such as shots that try to emulate his drug-induced state, or music choice that feels too obvious. These feel like mistakes that new directors are bound to make and gives them room for improvement with future features.

And that sums up Puncture as a whole: the problems here are noticeable, but much of the film impresses to the point where those flaws are an undercurrent in the lean tale. I’m glad that a true, inspiring story such as this one didn’t get a movie adaptation that glossed over the main hero’s flaws. Due to both Evans’ charismatic performance and confident direction from the Kassens, our lead remains an endearing human being, keeping a vital link with the audience.

Killer Elite Movie Review.
For the Indian audiences who have not seen Jason Statham in an action movie, this movie can be the best action flick. But for the ones who have seen him and Robert De Niro in similar roles and in similar looking movies now every day the trailer will be so irritating. Because these actors are good and what they need is to have a change now. Especially Jason Statham, although it can kill his career as he really can’t do anything apart from action flicks, so looks like we will have to watch him do movies like this and wait for good action movies to come once in every four movie he will be doing.

The Story :

Engeyum Eppodhum revolves around a group of passengers traveling in two different buses, each having their own past and a reason for their travel. The most prominent among these passengers is the love track between Kathiresan (Jai), Manimegalai (Anjali) and the other between Vinay (Saravanandh) and Amudha (Ananya).
Jai is a responsible young person who works as a mechanic and secretly loves his neighbour Anjali, but Anjali is an extremely practical girl and believes that love alone doesn't suffice life. "Inside Out," the latest air-sucking stranglehold on genre moviemaking from World Wrestling Entertainment, presents itself as a redemption tale about an ex-con (Paul "Triple H" Levesque) getting mixed up in criminality when the healing love of an old flame (Parker Posey) and her teenage daughter are so tantalizingly close. This also happens to be the story of the last Levesque/WWE collaboration, the similarly entertainment-free caper comedy "The Chaperone," which worryingly suggests a star-making campaign for the hulking smackdown alumnus akin to an Einstein-attributed definition of insanity.

That said, even crazy-eyed Bruce Dern as a cigarette-smuggling kingpin and crazy-talking Michael Rapaport as his reckless son — who lures AJ (Levesque) back into illegality — can't save this tonal mishmash from feeling anything but dully silly. It's truly hard to tell whether director Artie Mandelberg and lawyer-turned-screenwriter Dylan Schaffer are being serious or tongue-in-cheek about the movie's many deaths, the tax-evasion story line, all the talk about pickle-making (AJ's post-prison career dream), a maniacal Eastern European female goon and Posey's disinterested line readings.The only constant is Levesque's stern gaze, limited range and granite build, qualities that haven't stopped others from movie careers but here do little to engender calls for a cinematic rematch.

Warrior English Movie Review : You are forgiven for thinking you have seen it all before. Warrior, from director Gavin O'Connor, shares plenty of DNA with the fight-centred Oscar-winner The Fighter. Both films deal with fractured blue collar nuclear families that will either be healed or broken forever in the catharthis machine that Hollywood convention has long decided is the modern fighting ring (a boxing ring in the case of The Fighter, a mixed martial arts “MMA” ring in the case of this film).

Both films feature brothers on a collision course. Both have little weight attached to the decisions of their female characters. Both feature black sheep family members struggling with addiction, shame and mistrust.In Warrior, the sport is different, and the brothers are not just metaphorically clashing - their battle actually takes place in the ring itself. Both films share one other feature - they are both put together well enough and carried along by a watchable cast that allows them to paper over their many cracks.

Copy picture The story Warrior beings with the sudden appearance of Tommy Conlon (Tom Hardy), after 14 years away serving in the US Marines, back on his father Paddy's (Nolte) doorstep. Paddy, long considered a useless and abusive drunk by Tommy and his also-estranged brother Brendan, has no idea why his son is back or what happened to him in Iraq where he was serving. Tommy wants just one thing from his father - train him to fight so he can enter the Sparta MMA event due in a few months, with a million dollar payout as the reward. Having trained both his sons in wrestling before things fell apart, Paddy knows the tricks of the trade and agrees, clearly hoping to reconnect to his son. Against a background of a moodily shot post-industrial Pittsburgh, with sweaty gyms and grey skies, the two begin to the task of getting Tommy back into shape.

Hardy is an immediately striking presence in these early scenes, though no wild thug, there is a coiled tension about his character. But why is he back from Iraq? And what does he need the money for? In a neat coincidence, Tommy's brother Brendan (Joel Edgerton), over in Philadelphia, is also bound for the Sparta contest. Though he, too, has seen nothing of Tommy or his father for years, and is seemingly secure on a different path as a successful school teacher, he is drawn back into the ring by financial problems. He and his wife Tess (Jennifer Morrison) have three jobs between them and still can't make the mortgage payments.

Though a considerate and intelligent man with a stable family life, Brendan is a fighter in a different way from his younger brother - he is not a quitter. Against his wife's objections, he convinces his old sparring partner and MMA coach Frank to get him back into shape and put him into Sparta as a wildcard. Edgerton uses the early scenes to differentiate his character from Hardy's - helped by the cinematography and set design, which emphasise his more privileged white collar surroundings, his training gym is very sunny and upmarket compared to the sweat pit Tommy is stuck in.

It is to Edgerton and the script's credit that his character does not fade out against the more fiery presence of Hardy. Brendan is charismatic and nuanced, albeit with hints of his father's stubborness about him, but also he's clearly the underdog of the two and the one we sense is more at physical risk.As the two brothers edge closer and closer to a face-off in the Vegas-like neon glamour of Atlantic City, more background details emerge. Tommy is seemingly driven not only by resentment of his father, but also by his sense that Brendan betrayed him which, coupled with trouble stemming from his exit from Iraq, means an explosive confrontation is on the cards.

Director O’Connor and writers Anthony Tambakis and Cliff Dorfman have a deep enough script and capable enough actors to add a decent amount of layers to what is undeniably a derivative and quite predictable plot of bitterness, resolution and redemption. O'Connor and cinematographer Masanobu Takayanagi also lay on some visceral bouts in the ring, thoroughly exploiting the fact that mixed martial arts makes for a less predictable combat sequence than a boxing match might.The soundtrack is suitably meaty, and the cast and stunt doubles - who themselves apparently needed doubles given the abuse dealt out - throw themselves in with abandon.

It's impossible not to get carried along as the final epic bout looms, as the last third of the film gives over almost entirely to combat. But there isn't really anything here that has not been seen and done before, and the cathartic end that we know is coming doesn't feel as deservedly earned as in other fight films. The separate and parallel paths of the brothers is interesting to observe and creates a sense of anticipation, but keeping them apart so long also denies the characters the chance to make their intertwined history resonate more, and makes the inevitable resolution something of a cheat.Perhaps if the film's narrative had drawn Nolte, Edgerton and Hardy together for more scenes (Nolte feels sidelined in the last third) and been less reliant on unlikely coincidences to keep the plot going, Warrior would have been a more satisfying meal.
