Wow,

Maybe i should try and hide my head in the sand for a few weeks to not see anymore of those eclipse 2012 photos on facebook. Looks like everybody else is there having fun and seeing each other, except yours truly. Ofcourse the fact that i was initially booked for the thing, but then faded to play on rainbow serpent doesn't help. There just is no substitute for an eclipse festival.
This is one of the most important parties there has ever been in the scene and i'm not invited in the end. Frustration galore..

Another fun thing is to categorize everything about suomi-sound to make it all (especially the artists) come together in one herd under one banner. It's fun-worthy. The shepherds are developing a sense of humor. This kind of talk is ofcourse : promotor/manager/publisher/fan talk.

How to become a rock n' roll star 2012

Today it is more easier than ever to become a full blown rock n roll celebrity. All it takes is to form a band with a provocative two term name, play some punk rock, then act out a politically provocative scene in a church somewhere in Russia and say something to upset ol' Putin.
By doing all this you get huge international publicity for your music project for free, total full blown media coverage world wide, win the hearts of millions with empathy to support your 'cause', make the world see you as a political victim of censorship, play the role of the political prisoner, have people supporting the 'pussy cause' all around the world for no particular reason other than that you have a 'cool' band name, not even having heard a single piece of music from you.

Now, what if the pussy rioteers knew exactly how to promote their music endeavours? Maybe they took Axel Roses advice a bit too far and used their illusion to the extreme.

All you have to do to get all this is to sit 2 years in jail for it - a minor trade off considering what you are getting for it. That might sound harsh, but after the pussy rioteers are released they will have an immortal status in the punk scene, being one of the most famous and recognizable punk bands around, forever being the band who pissed off Putin. An icon of their generation so to speak.
With the right manager and booker they will play all major festivals all around the world, many gigs all around soon after they are released. Everybody knows Pussy Riot now.

You could say that Pussy Riot have in a sense 'made it'. Although it wasn't because of the music.

The internet pyramid

The internet is the pyramid of today. If we think of the pyramids as the single greatest achievement by man and a prime example of man working together and making something that lasts for generations to come, then the internet must be the pyramid of today.

Let's assume that the internet will prevail time and global changes as it is an adoptable medium, and let's assume that the internet is the everlasting library or archade of all known knowledge (a new information ark) that we posses today, then it becomes very clear that all our internet user history and all the things we put online will be there forever.

The point i want to make is to get people to think about their content that they are contributing online. We need to ask ourselves : is this the sort of content/world you want to live in, are you contributing to a better world or making it worse with your internet content, what kind of digital foot print do you want to leave for future generations, are you and your content replaceable, is your content of the best storage quality etc.. these are just some questions that arise.

After we leave this world behind and take the next journey to the after life, then all that there will be left of our digital efforts should be found online if stored correctly. Ask yourself, after you are gone is your content that you created during your life time replaceable? is it of any importance or even significant? is it original? Is it stored properly and with a quality good enough to be worthy of beeing stored in the everlasting archives of the internet? Ask yourself : Is your content of 'eternal quality'?

Eternal quality

The term 'eternal quality' is a term that i invented to describe the best type of quality of a file to be stored properly in the eternal archives of the internet.
What is 'eternal quality'? Eternal quality is a file saved at the best or optimum resolution and storage quality, good enough to be used and altered in the unpredictable future. An example of a file with 'eternal quality' would be a piece of recorded music stored with 16-24 bits resolution (or more), and 48kHz (or more) lossless superior file quality, unlimited, unmaximized, unpacked. An example of a file not worthy of the 'eternal quality' status would be a sound recording saved as 44.1 kHz (or less), 16 bit (or less), not to meantion mp3 etc, over limited, over compressed and brickwall maximized + packed. This would result for the file to be a broken file, distorted, not whole, not clean and not clear, thus not worthy of 'eternal quality'. The file could not be re-mastered very well in the future, it has less dynamics, because it would not have any headroom.
On the other hand the 'eternal quality' file would have all the benefitial features, as it could be re-mastered (not beeing limited or maximized) in the future having enough dynamics or used in another way, the file is not broken not distorted and not brickwall maximized, unpacked. There is a huge difference between these two example types of music files. This is just one type of example.

Why i am bringing this to peoples attention is that in todays music business unfortunately most of the recordings being published or 'stored online' are of inferior sound quality, not meeting the criteria of 'eternal quality'. Most recordings today are brickwall mastered to the limit, or over compressed, limited etc.. as a result of loudness war.
Loudness war has brought down the quality of recordings considerably and is a phenomenon that we should all think about and maybe perhaps start to make petitions, rules and regulations on sound quality control, resolution and mastering, some kind of other industry standard to meet the 'eternal quality' status.

Coming back to the subject of 'eternal quality', this term could be used with any other content aswell like photos, videos for example.
Another possible scenario is that if you have for example an online store, or an online business (a basic business idea nothing too special, a blog, perhaps even a clone idea) and are contributing to the internet with that sort of content, then ask yourself will any of this matter when you are long gone? Would your work and content be replaceable, is your work and content of any significant importance or is it just a clone, would any of your content or what you created matter to future generations, would it have any entertainment value or provide actual social benefit to future society, would your content be worthy of storage in the great library of eternal files, are you actually contributing something original of the utter most best 'eternal quality'? Are your ideals high enough?

This is something for all of us to think about.

Why it matters

Being a helplessly compulsive musician i have often thought about ways to make more money, perhaps even stop making music altogether in order to concentrate on making more money.
What if i just start some business and forget about music, sell things, get the money and live the life?

I might make more money running an insignificant service based online business that wouldn't create any significant new content or works of art to the eternal library of the internet. But, would it ultimately be of more value to me or future generations of the 'internet pyramid', than creating 'enternal quality' content is the question here.

News flash:

We are making some good old fashion psy-trance with the guys from EvsY a little bit and new tracks are poppin up on the horizon.

I have a couple of tracks that i woud like to release but the styles are so out of this world that it doesn't fit any genre and thus doens't fit any label. Especially a fusion samba jazz track that i have been playing on the piano already for 4 years now has to come out of my mind, so that i can clear my head and free up some think-space.
Two choices i have come up with:
Choice 1: no compromise, release it yourself via bandcamp etc..
Choice 2: compromise and let others do a remix of the track, remixes that would fit a genre, so it can be release through a 'proper' label.

Couple of funk tracks that are still undone need to be pushed out and polished. have to produce those out of the way aswell while i'm at it.

But my goal now is to produce a bit more good ol funky scandinavian old school psy-trance with a new twist and get on the road again. :)

So what else is new..
about the gig in the eclipse party : the guys at the production decided to instead invite me over for rainbow serpent as they are the same organizers. First got me all excited by asking me to play at the total eclipse party, but then in the end they didn't deliver. HUGE bummer! ..very sad about that ..not that rainbow serpent is a bad festival or anything. Having had the privilidge to have played in Rainbow Serpent on a couple occasions i can say it is one of the best parties around. ..but these eclipse festivals have a special place in my heart. Eclipse parties are really just the place to be as you meet so many traveling friends there, many more than at 'usual' festivals.

I didn't really feel like playing for a long time, but it seems i have a possible couple of gigs in Israel and a bigger trip to Brazil coming up aswell this year. This calls for co-ordination.

Somebody once said to me : "you don't have to make bad music just because somebody else who makes bad music has a talent to promote his shit".
There is a certain amount of truth in what he said and it took a while to fully sink in. Now with social medias like soundcloud, fb, twitter etc., promoting your music has become a matter of social media bombing.
Let's be honest here. dj's are basicly promotors. Allow me to explain : they basicly just play (promote) other people's music, send out links to their latest mixes (look at me!), hang around in certain social circles to advance promotional possabilitites, they make sure everybody's seen the flyer, they remix tracks in order to associate their own name with another "bigger" name (alfa game), they make their own tracks so that they can promote themselves (what a perverted reason to make music), they make sure everybody liked their fb page, they spin a social media web to promote their promotional skills, they even organize parties so that they can play and promote other peoples music, make flyers of themselves and all in all just plain out annoy everybody with their "hey look at me, i'm fk:n dj:ing" attitude.
Now if that's not enough there is a new even more annoying way to pour even more nonsence on the net : social media bombing. What this means is that when you upload a track on soundcloud for example, then people come and comment your track even without listening to it, just so that they can leave a promotional comment like "hey, nice track, check out our tracks this n that". They leave these comments like robots, pssably even are made by net-bots, but the point being that its just straight up annoying. Remember what happened to myspace? when was the last time you actually read your messages on myspace inbox? exactly. It's saturated with these promotional messages "listen to us, etc..".
Now fb is getting sucked into the same thing. same goes for soundcloud etc.
It seems like we are all just a bunch of trubadixes (yes, that caracter from asterix comics, that musician that nobody in the village wants to hear, but who makes everybody listens to his music by social force).
What has this game come to? dj's have become promotors, and producers are getting sucked into the same social media promo-game.
Producers too have become dj's, so they can play at parties and promote their music. There is a difference. The difference between producers and dj's is that the producers promote their music, they dj to promote their music. dj's on the flip side of the coin produce music to promote their dj gigs.
This is how the game works. Everybody is constantly sceaming for your attention "look at me! i'm a dj!!".
There are however exceptions.
Let's take daft punk for example. They use minimal social media for promoting their music, they are not constantly pushing themselves, their webpages be it fb or homepage are without any gizmos. daft punk's homepage has nothing else except the daft punk logo - that is all, no pages no nothing. just the logo.
At this point somebody might point out the obvious saying "when you have written the score to tron on disney, you don't have to use social media bombing". Exactly. They rely on other means of promotion such as a full length feature film made by disney, video's on mtv, even daft punk puppet figures, but most of all : image.

My point is : you as a producer don't have to promote yourself as cheap street prostitutes do, constantly on the look-out for new tricks, offering yourself to clients and sceaming "look at meeeee!!, book me, like me, check me out etc!", like some gig-craving ego-drunk socially insecure wanna be. No. Leave that for the dj's.

Yes, that's right, cheese, that irresistible but expensive spice. What good has it ever done for us?
Why are we stuffing ourselves with that irresistably delicious add-on every day? At least i use it everyday. I love cheese, and cheese loves me. Pizza, tacos, spagetti, pasta, bread etc. would be nothing without cheese. Now, the reason i am talking about cheese is the fact that i made some calculations and realized how easy it is to save money in a year if you manage to skip a few luxuries from your life like cheese.
I spend about 700 eur a year on cheese. Yeah, that's right. Cheese is expensive in Finland, and i buy a package of it very secound day, which costs me about 5 euros. That means that i buy cheese about 180 times a year for 5 euros equaling a sum of 900 euros. I skip a few days of cheese in a year etc, so i downplayed my total sum, but all in all i spend way too much money on cheese in a year.
If i just drop cheese away from my diet for a year i can save enough money to take some chick off on vacation to the beach somewhere for a week.
Imagine how much money you spend on other things in a year. If you need to save money you can just drop stupid items like cheese :), or plastic bags. Plastic bags cost about 20 cent each everytime i go to the supermarket. I go most everyday to buy fresh items, so i end up spending about 50-70 euros a year just on stupid plastic bags. That's 500-700 euros in ten years just on plastic bags!
I bought those plastic bags at the counter because i used them for trashbags, but after making these calculations i came to the conculsion that it would be stupid not to bring your own bag to the supermarket and buy a roll of cheaper trashbags.
Buy making little calculations like this you can save a lot of money in a year. You do the math.
It all adds up to a nice little sum, so you can go spend on a vacation or something, or buy your kid a new computer. This is just an example of cheese and plastic bags.

2012 doomsday Survival kit & Z-day list

According to myth, supposively every 3600 years, a big catalystic event, a great global catastrophy takes place and sets back the human civilization to the stone ages to start once again from scratch re-building the world.

With all this talk on the internet and occult circles about the doomsday profecy on december 21st 2012, called many names, perhaps a black dwarf binary star, nibiru, the destroyer, or whatever heading our way creating floods, solar flares, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes etc, i decided to make a doomsday survival list / Zombie war list of my own just for fun.
Now, the reason i speak of zombie war is the fact that if this thing goes down as predicted, there will be people running around without food or water, shelter, people without medication. Now, imagine caotic angry starving people off their anti-depressants and other medicines running around amok in the city. Those would be the zombies imo, not some flesh eating mindless dead creatures, but rather just humans trying to survive and banding up, looting etc.
Toying around with this possible scenario i made a doomsday list to help me survive for at least 1-2 months. I took a look at some blogs about this issue, but most survival lists were not that well thought of and were either lacking some basic survival equipments or had unnecessary stuff included in the kit.

The Total cost of this staying-alive-kit is about 2500-3000 eur. I know it's alot, but let me brake it down for you.

So here goes :

50 Eur - Lapinleuku (finnish knife)

The must have knife. Finnish hand-made classic lapinleuku for your personal protection and survival. The best knife for the wild man. No need to say more.

50 Eur - leatherman

A leatherman is better than a swiss armyknife. The lapinleuku is a better knife than the swiss army knife. That's why we won't choose a swiss army knife.

50 eur - fire, matches, lighters, gas, firestone

A no-brainer.

10 eur - candles

You will need candles to stay romantic while sharpening your knife when the electrecity grid fails.
Buy enough to last you for a couple of months.

10 Eur Axe

An axe would be useful for cutting down trees, making shelter or firewood etc.

100 eur - vitamins, minerals, iron-tabs, magnesium, c-vitamiini, b-vitamiini, d-vitamiini, a-vitamiini

These will be important. When food supplies deminish and overall quality of food is comprimised, vitamins and other food supplements come to be a very important source of nutrition.
If the sun gets blocked out because of a nuclear explosion, a volcanic erruption or because of a climate change, ash cloud or whatever, you will need to have enough vitamin d and A to help cope with sunlight deficiency. Vitamin c will be important because you wont have fresh fruits around in the supermarkets.

50 eur - melatonin

If the sun gets blocked out, or we need to live in caves because of solar activity or radiation, this will affect your sleep pattern, hormones etc.. buy some melatonin to help stabilize sleeping pattern. melatonin is the hormone that your body produces when it signals it to go to sleep. Lack of sunlight causes imbalance in melatonin production and can lead to depression and insomnia and other problems. Be prepared.

50 eur - basic medicine, ibuprofeiin, stomach remedy

Ibuprofeiin is good to have against a number of symptoms incl. fever, headache, pain etc.
You have to have some medicine for the stomach, especially against diarreah.

150 eur - dry foods, flour, pasta, beefjerky, dried fruits and vegetabes, seeds, nuts

This will be your food supply. Try to buy a diverse set up of dried fruits, nuts, seeds, beefjerky, dried vegetables, pasta, all sorts of flour. Basicly normal stuff that you'd eat normally, just go dry as dry food stores for longer.

50 eur - protein powder, milk powder

You will need some milk powder. Milk power is basicly just dried milk in powder form that you just mix with some water to create milk out of.
Protein powders, like whey or soya protein is a good source of protein and can be stored for a long time without getting spoiled.

150 eur - canned food, beans, tuna, tomatoes, fruits, paprika, mushrooms etc.

Try to buy a diverse collection of canned foods. anything you can think of that you'd normally eat.
it helps to make a list of meals, weeks, months to help you get organized. The most important thing is that you have enough food, enough diversity in your meals, to hep you survive for a few months if needed.
As a tip : beans are a very good source of protein and carbonhydrates, try to buy lots of those.
Tuna is a good source of protein, and it's good to have many cans of tomato-paste for pasta and other dishes.

20 eur dried breads

This would be the only type of bread that would not get spoiled too quickly. As an alternative you can also buy mcdonalds buns.. we've all seend the videos on youtube - no comment here.

50 eur olive oil + other oils

You will need oil. Olive oil, food oils, motor oil etc. you get the picture.

30 eur cashew & other nuts, rasins

Cashew nuts are super food and you can store them for a long time. Same goes for any nuts and raisins.

100 eur - seeds : sprouts, vegetables, malt, berries, beens and fruits

Try to create yourself a miniature Noahs ark of seeds for use after the doomsday. Buy seeds of vegetables, herbs and fruits that would do well in your climate. Try to have a diverse collection of seeds for the after world. Think of yourself as a seed-bank. Most essential seeds would be the food that you would normally eat, herbs, fruits etc.. Use logic and reason when selecting your seed bank, and remember to store them in a cool dry place away from the sunlight.

10 eur - yeast, baking and ale-yeast

This will be useful for baking, making beer etc. You can then cultivate and keep the same strain of yeast alive unchanged for hundreds of years if you manage it correctly, Basicly you just scoop some of the yeast that you used in the last batch of beer from the bottom of the fermenter and re-use it and keep it alive with sugars and the right temperature depending on the type of yeast used.
for baking yeast you can cultivate yeast, or even use the ale-yeast for baking bread.
Beer will also be a good way to purify your water as in the process of making beer the water gets purified due to a antibiotic process taking place along side the fermentation. The alcohol produced as a side product by the yeast will also help purifying the water.
Beer brewing will be an important part of the after doomsday world.

20 eur - iodine tabs

Just in case of nuclear meltdowns etc.. we all saw what happened in fukushima. btw fukushima is still leaking radiation 24 h a day. Now, imagine 50-100 reactors melting down on doomsday. Buy some iodineine tabs to help protect your thyroid.

100 eur - Rain-gear, rain-jacket etc. rubber-wet-shoes

If you have to survive in the nature, might aswell buy the necessary rain equipment to stay dry.

20 eur - water-cleansing tabs

These are good to have.

100 eur - water-filter

This will be your most imporatant equipment. Water is very important, and by buying a waterfilter you will make sure to have drinkable water anywhere you go.

5 eur - salts

seasalt, himalaya salt etc.. a very important thing to have, the body needs salt pref about 0.5-2 grams a day.

5 eur - sugar

Sugar is a nice bonus to have.

20 eur - alcohol

It will be good for ceremonial reasons, general happyness, stressrelief, social occasions, for desinfection aswell. 0.5 liter per person per month should be enough.

20 eur - desinfection gel.

50 eur - fishing equipment

Fishing will be a good way to try to get food. Just buy yourself some basic equipment like hook, sinker and line. You can take is as far as you want from there if you wish.

100 eur - hunting traps

Trapping is a good way to get fresh meat. Try to have at least 4-6 traps per person. Check traps every secound day at least.

50 eur - hygiene stuff, soap etc

Buy enough soaps and other hygiene stuff so you dont have to stink like a apocalyptic-hobo even though its z-day.

100 eur - gas cooker + gas

Have enough gas to last you 1-2 months. This will be so practical, lots easier than chopping wood and making fire if you just want to cook a fast meal.

40 eur - fungus-book & herbal book

A mushroom book will be a good thing to have. There are theories that when ancient asteroids hit the earth and blocked out the sunlight, the only thing that thrived without sunlight on earth were fungus. This would also explain the symbiosis that all plants and many animals have with funguses as part of their biological systems.
If the sun gets blocked out again, which it might, then a fungusbook might be your best friend to distinguish eatable mushrooms from the toxic ones.

300 eur - crossbow + arrows

A good weapon of choice for hunting as you don't need to rely on bullets.

300 Eur - katana + wakisashi

This is part of my personal z-day zombie survival war out fit. Personally i have come to the conclusion that i will be using a crossbow, machete, along with katana + wakisashi (musashi-style) and my lapinleuku-knife. This would be an ideal survivalists out-fit for the doomsday scenario imo. Why would you not want to have a katana and wakisashi for z-day? Gotta have em on your survival check list!

50 eur - fm/am radio + batteries

A radio is a good thing to have. You can try picking up doomsday messages and other propaganda broadcasts. It will be important to stay informed and the radio might be the only thing working at that point.

50 eur - gasmask

Why not have a gas mask around? Just in case some volcanic toxic fumes, chemicals etc get thrown in the atmosphere.

50 eur - first aid kit etc.

It's all about health at this point.

100 eur - gore-tex waterproof terrain shoes

You will thank me later for this tip!

20 eur - firewood

Yes, basic firewood. Just in case you run out of propane.

20 eur - paper, toilet- and for writing.

buy enough toiletpaper so you don't have to come up with more creative ideas. Have enough paper and pens around to write stuff down.

50 eur - snowshoes

Anywhere you live, buy some snowshoes. The climate might change, snow might fall, there might be a nuclear winter etc. make sure you have snowshoes so you can hunt and walk better in deep snow conditions.

50 eur - bicycle backup-tires

buy tires for you bicycle. the bicycle will be an important transport unit for yourself after we run out of, petrol, oil and gas.

100 eur - tent
100 eur - sleepingbag, matress

60 eur - Guitar strings

if you have a guitar you might want to stock up on guitar strings so you can keep on playing songs and have some entertainment.

300 eur - night-vision goggles

Buy nightvision goggles. Good for hunting at night, or seeing zombies approach in the night time.
Again, if the sun gets blocked out, there will be complete darkness. That's when you'll need them. Buy nightvision goggles to ensure your superiority in the dark times of the end of days.

50 eur - rope & lines

All sorts of ropes and lines will be usefull for building traps, hunting etc. Use your imagination.

50 eur - flashlight + batteries

A flashlight will be important. Just remember to buy enough batteries.

Without the super enforced doomsday safety places of the rich and privilidged, the ideal place to wait out a possible doomsday on 21st december 2012 or the years following would be high up in the inland mountains where there are cave systems.
My personal place of choice would be alto paraiso, chapada dos veadeiros in Brazil. It's in the middle of brazil, about 2000m high from sea level, and it's got huge long caves that stretch for miles that connect with other cave systems, some that are still completely unexplored. There are many spiritual and religious groups there awaiting the apocalypse already since the 70's. I have been there, it's an interesting place.
Alternatively the himalayas tibet, colorado, or the south american andes or bolivia might be a good spot to try to survive. Most importantly you have to establish yourself a survival team. Create a team of friends or families that you think you have a good chance of surviving with. Yu will need to team up against possible aggressors and looting.

Now am i going to make safety masures? propably not. This is just a cute little list that i made for fun, but if things start heading in a bad direction, i might start preparing. I would however wait for more certain signs before i put on my folio-hat and start preparing for the worst.

Yes, it is spring once again!!

This winter in Helsinki has been a tough one for sure, but it's over now. Waiting for those 3 months of good summer weather that this city has to offer : june, july, august. Those are the only months worth spending in Finland. I could do without the 9 other months. I could do without Finland altogether as i find it hard to enjoy life here during the winter. Finland might have a high living standard ok, but i think the over-all quality of life in general is very low here in Finland. A middle aged woman from Cabo Frio Brazil once explained it to me on a plane, that even though Brazil is a 3rd world country with all it's social and economic problems, it still has a better quality of life in general than Europe. Lucky for her.

Finland's culture in general contributes to the suffering of it's part-takers with a feedback loop.
The food culture is non-existent here and if you manage to find yourself a good culinaristic treat nevertheless it'll cost you huge amounts of money. Everything is expensive here.

Yes, this is my country but it is absolutely not my home.

F##k Trance Parties

Ever wonder why so many artists sound the same in trance parties? what about that same boring bass sound, saw wave or with some pulse mixed into it? yes, and that annoying tight high clickin kick drum that they all use.. that and the boring bass sound togther then at about 145 bpm with the bass playing 16th notes, off on the kick, is then called psytrance. F## it. F## psytrance and it's boring artists, the clones, the parties and most of all fu## the psytrance sound.

I have always encouraged younger artists to find their own sound and not just go for the easy way out and try to imitate everybody else or a style that somebody invented. Create your own sound. do not use the same bass sound as everybody else, or make flat tube laptop bass lines, off beat bass etc, do not use the ordinary kick. why not use a softer a deeper more analog one for a change. Back on my first two albums i did the kick drum sounds myself using sh101, sh09, sh202 system m100 or a juno, or even a virtual digital synth or pure sine wave. dont just go for the same boring sound that everybody is bored with who has been listening to trance for as long as i have (from the beginning).

What i have now realised is that i myself did also fell in the trap of producing music for trance parties. In the beginning i used to just make music without thinking about the dancefloor or parties, peoples preferences, since then the only people that booked me to play were trance people for some reason and most of the parties i have ever played at were trance parties. This all influenced me and my music too much, even in such a way that i started making music for that genre, for the floors, still think of it as its own sound and style, but nevertheless it was meant for those trance party situations.
It is only now that i have not thought about parties or playing for over a year now that i have finally found a way back to pure creative inspiration and freedom of expression.
I am very happy that i snapped out of this trance party thing, stopped listening to people telling me "yes, you know, little but faster like 145bpm, push more faster, oh you are so funky, ah he's making prog now, ah he's making techno now, ah he's not playing haltya like i wanted him to play etc...", i stopped listening to all that bs all those influences and ideas people were trying to push into my music. Fu## that.

Another funny way to influence and a fun one is when people try to coax you with simple phrases like "you are like a god, or you are the master of funkyness", or other stuff like that. Word to a young producer or dj : don't believe what the promotors or organizers tell you, just ask for more money if they start coaxing you like that and it will stop there :) Words are cheap. dont fall into the bs.

I have composed completely different music now, very weird and fun, not in a boring formula way, not in somebody elses style. Not thinking about how people should dance to my music has really brought back some lost creativity to my work.

Back in the 90s people where doing real creative music in the electronic music genre, now that people are not taking as many risks anymore or creating their very own sound basis, it has all just started to sound the same. Beatport doesnt help either with creativeness, but rather just contributes to the homogenisation of electronic music. This is not a good thing.

Go and create, innovate, remix, but do not keep repeating the same thing over and over again unless its exactly what you yourself want to do.

The most important question is : why are you making music?

About my last trip to Israel and the disaster story

Ok

so, somebody played the race card against me after reading my written documentary about my trip to Israel in end 2010. I can still see where abouts people come to visit my blog, and from what link they clicked themselves to my blog. Surprisingly many visitors still arrive to this blog through the isratrance site because i posted a thread about my writings there in early 2011 or something. I havent been following that thread since, only the first 2 weeks to avoid the thread getting out of the subject. I can imagine the thread to contain many opinions about this n that by now.
I thought of writing something to correct some peoples imaginations wandering into the weird, as i heard through a friend of mine that somebody actually played the race card and thought that the written documentary was racist by nature. I can imagine that some people might get that impression, especially because the content is about the hospitality that i received in Israel from the organizers, promotors and other misfortunated situations that i found myself in, but its only because of their own inner dialog and inner voice giving the text the tone and nature by witch they themselves precieve it. In other words it is in the eye of the beholder.

That kind of thinking is just fundamentalistic blind nonsence imo.
To that, and to my defence, i can just say : if you care to read the text like it should be read, without guilt, false impressions, architypes or an evil mind-set, you will find that the text is written and molded as a comedic text with jokes and drama, trying to make a bad situation look a little bit funny, and not a hate text. If anything i should be given gratitude and respect by these people who got it wrong, as i have been part of building the nation of Israel. I have been part of fulfilling the prophecy, i have worked there and given people happyness and groove (hopefully:) and by that definition have contributed to the establishment of the holy nation of Zion. I have many good old school jewish friends, colleges, promotors, and have released on many Israelie labels, played at Israelie parties all over the world and visited Israel something like 12 times and have worked in Israel as a live performer. last but not least i have fooled around with israelie girls..:) So, if anything i am a friend and protector of the jews (as it seems, and havent really thought about it consciously) and have helped to establish and develop Israel. Not the other way around.
I have personally held the high pressure fire-hose when we had to put out a kitchen fire at the Kalderons (full on kitchen fire up to the roof) in Richon Le-zion. The fire fighter captain called me a hero. I told him that i was on my way out with my equipment figuring that we have about 3 minutes time to get out of there when Lilly found the emergency fire-hose and we put it out together.

I have never threatened a jew or stolen something from a jew or done any bad business against jews or Israel. On the other hand Israelie lables and promotors have in the past not payed me for my work, in other words : stolen my music and time. I have been threatened to be killed, mystery threatened, threatened to beeing put in jail, and interigated like a terrorist many times in Israel. So please give me the freedom to write my funny little story about my experiences even though this particular trip was about Israel and the things i wrote about what happened to me in Israel. Its not my fault ok and dont get too excited about the misfortune of others. I left out many details of the story just because its too much to handle and very personal between people.

And please, dont worry, i will still write about really weird and funny trips to germany, russia, brazil, USA, Japan, Ukraine and the parties in Finland. I have many funny stories like that and doubt that any people reading a funny disaster story that happened in Finland would call me a anti-fennoistic anti-suomi racist :)

i have lost so many friends just because i got treated like a dog and wrote about it. Still havent gotten any apologies about it, still havent got paid for the gig.. yes, its very disapointing and plain sad. Also i miss Israel and the falafels, the beach, jerusalem, the humus and gold star:) so now what? nothing.

This is not an apology or anything like that. I just want people to feel more comfortable with my life-stories and thought a few words from the inside might help sort out any negative illusions.

So just chill and let the smile take care of the rest :)

New Single

Haltya has a new logo and some fresh new tracks for a ep/single release that i am planning. I am thinking about splitting the release into 2 or perhaps 3 singles as they are in completely different styles : fast fun weirdness, jazz and funk.
Thinking about releasing them for free on the web or opening a homepage (finally after 15 years) and streaming it for free on the site.

A long break from the gig and party scene has done me good and i think i know what i want now at this moment for myself, how to split my projects, on what level i want to do my thing and in what kind of parties i want to play.
Been making alot of music lately and working on a new sound, hope to continue the sessions as much as i can before the summer.
