Through Thick and Thin...

So... there are countless styles and color of leggings. Nowadays you can get them almost on every corner. I, myself, have several pairs of leggings - plain ones, sparkly ones and even the metallic ones. My problem isn't with the leggings themselves, but rather the thickness of the leggings. Let me describe my two favorite pairs of black leggings - one is a black opaque pair, very thick, almost ankle length, more on the side of tights, and the other pair is a very thin (almost sheer) more on the side of pantyhose. I tend to always lean towards wearing the thicker opaque pair, as the other makes me feel as if I am walking around in pure daylight wearing a pair of pantyhose.

I wore them one day with a shirt that didn't quite cover my butt. I bent over to pick up something and friend said she could see my underwear through the leggings! I was kinda embarrassed. Now I always wear leggings with a shirt, tank, or dress that at least slightly covers my butt. That's my own personal rule. Now I know we have all seen the chick with the amazing body walking around in a fitted tee shirt and the thinnest and tightest of leggings and can pull it off.

Maybe I'm being a baby or a little self-conscious with the thinner leggings or is it a bigger issue, should there be a rule on thin leggings??

So, since it's been raining non-stop for 8 days here in Los Angeles, I decided to make my way to the mall. I walked into one of my absolute favorite shoe stores, Eilatan, located in the Beverly Center and spotted these two cuties.

I've been on the hunt for a pair of killer red pumps, so I was very happy to find these by Report. They reminded me of Dorothy's Rudy red slippers but would go great with jeans or a cute dress.

So, we are 12 days into the New Year and soon there will be tons of trends to ooh and ahh over. With that said I'm counting down my Top 4 Trends from '07 to Roll-Over in '08.

4. Leggings/Tights - Bring on the leggings! They go with everything - tee shirts, sweaters, dress them up, dress them down, whatever!

3. Belts - I think we have all learned the importance of the high-waisted belt in 2007. It creates a slimming effect.

2. Ballet Flats - Who just doesn't love flats? There are literally millions of styles, there's one for everyone.

1. Skinny Jeans - It's my personal belief that skinny jeans are hear to stay for a while. Skinny jeans are trend that have surpassed the gender and ages barrier. Not only are more and more guys are rockin' them, you'll find them on the "Best Dressed" of Hollywood, skateboarders, 13-year old girls, and 40-year moms alike. Even though the trend of the minute is a more wider pant-leg, I say keep those skinny jeans, they will be around for awhile.

So, I have to tell you guys about a totally Haute-worthy website, Darla's Closet. I found this site at the beginning of this year and love it! This is where I purchased my Miss Me skinny jeans - that I basically wear everyday. The site features tops, denim, jewelry, dresses, handbags, and a Voluptuous collection (1x and up). I personally like the Style Ideas section where you view some ideas of how to wear the merchandise once you've bought it. My buying experience with Darla's Closet has been nothing but great. I have purchased several items throughout the past year- couple of tee shirts and dresses - and will, of course, continue to buy!

So, it's seems that skinny jeans are for a while. I had to give you a peek into my closet and let you know about my favorite pair - the Rhinestone Fleur De Lis Jean by Miss Me.

I actually got them in January, but just recently have become obsessed with them. I wear them everywhere. I'm a heels and jeans girl, so they're great because they look awesome with heels. They have the perfect combination of rhinestone swirl on the back pockets and medium wash, AND to top it off, they were at an amazing price. Where are my manners? I'm from the South and I should know better. I was thinking to myself the other day that I haven't really introduced myself as the editor of Haute Talk - so what better time than now!

Sooooo, officially, I am Lara Jones the Editor-in-Chief of Haute Talk. I reside in Long Beach (or the Beach), California, but originally from Arkansas. I graduated from the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in Apparel Studies (aka Fashion). Every since I was little, I can always remember being fabulous and trendy. I always wanted to have the latest fashion trend. I moved to sunny California a little over a year to pursue my dream of working in the fashion industry - which I now do. I work at DROBE, Custom Clothing in the Fashion District in LA. I took over Haute Talk from Mandy earlier this month with hopes of making it the haute-est blog ever!

Speaking of haute, my birthday is coming up and I'm going to Vegas with some friends. I'm soooo excited. I plan on doing some much needed shopping. Ok, got a little off the subject....

Looks like Usher will at yet another title under his belt - that title being DADDY! Yes, fiancee Tameka Foster is pregnant with a little Usher - this child being her fourth. BUT rumors are swirling that the baby isn't his, but Tameka's ex-husband. Hmmm...sounds like juicy gossip to me!
